Paradise Undone| 1| S. McGarrett

Summary: Gracie isn’t the only reason why Danny Williams relocated to Hawaii, his youngest sister Emily is a nurse in the navy and is stationed at Pearl Harbor and is in an on again off again fling with Steven McGarrett.

His new partner. And Danny is dead set on keeping them apart as much as he wanted his sister happy, the last person he wanted her to be with was Steve McGarrett

This wasn’t the first time that Emily Williams had been asked to come see her brother Danny, a police detective first with the New York Police department and now with the Honolulu police department, to patch him up and it wouldn’t be the last but this was the first time that the man she had been sleeping with on and off with was sitting on the rolling chair next to the desk. “Shit.” She cursed herself before she stepped into the office, “Danno? What did you do now?” Danny, who had been lecturing Steve, paused and smiled seeing her. “It was all him Em.” Emily finally met Steve’s dark eyes and was glad to see the surprise in them. The last time they had seen each other, they had been in Japan and she was getting ready to ship back out to the states.

“And who is he?”

Danny was oblivious to the uneasy stare between the two, he was eager to start another long bitching session about his new partner and his sister usually listened. “Steve McGarrett.” Danny asked as she started looking at the wound on his shoulder.

“As in the McGarrett case?” She glanced over at Steve who was putting two and two together, Emily had told him stories about her siblings, especially her stuffy older brother.

“Yeah. He got me shot Em? Can you believe that?” The older Williams sibling questioned turning his head to watch his sister work.

“Not really, you got held hostage before, and had to have knee surgery after that case with Libby went wrong. So this doesn’t surprise me at all.” She answered, “didn’t you have the paramedics look at this?” “Why? When I have a nurse on speed dial?” Danny asked, “Em here is in the navy too but her contract is up soon.”

“Oh yeah?” Steve asked, folding his arms, eyes never leaving the siblings, curious. Emily was the exact opposite of his new partner, she had always been quick to laugh and enjoy herself while Danny wasn't that.

“Supposedly she wants to stay. God knows why.”

“Three things Danno, beach, warm weather and you and Gracie.” Emily paused as she opened an alcohol wipe, “and there is no Clara,” Clara was their mother who along with their two sisters Bridgett and Stella were very interested in when Emily was going to settle down and have kids.

“That is our mother.” Danny started before wincing when she dug her gloved thumb into the wound in annoyance . “I know that Daniel but she doesn’t harp on you. “When are you going to have kids Emily? You are such a young and pretty girl.”

Unable to help himself Steve coughed out a laugh, he had heard that impression one too many times which caused Emily to laugh. “Do you two know each other?” Danny asked after a heartbeat, “you can’t know each other.”

“We know each other.” They both answered.

“No, no Emily! Wait, this isn’t the guy you shacked up with in Cuba is it?” Emily pressed her lips together in a tight line so she wouldn’t start laughing outright.

“Emily Anne! Tell me the truth.”

“No comment.” she risked a glance over to Steve who was studying her every movement. “Do you need me to pick up Gracie after school?” Being able to have a relationship with her niece was part of the reason why she jumped on being stationed at Pearl Harbor.

“Emily! Tell me the truth.” Danny had glossed over her question like she had expected him too and he was furious. Like Matthew, their brother, he was fiercely over protective of Emily and their other sisters.

“Yes, okay?” she snapped back as she started bandaging the wound. “But you have no room to talk, Daniel. You are the one who ended up marrying someone you pulled over.” Another quiet laugh escaped Steve, he had heard all about her brother’s ex-wife after she found out that she had filed for divorce causing a smile to twitch on the corner of her mouth. “You told a total stranger about my personal life?”

The younger Williams sibling smiled then, “Well yeah, he's a good listener and I had to have someone to talk to. And I was not going to use the satellite phone to call Clara.”

Groaning Danny dropped his chin to his chest, “You two are going to put me in an early grave.”

“Don't be so dramatic Danny.” Emily rolled her eyes, “We both know that it will be Rachel and step Stan.”

“Step Stan?” Steve stepped in, unable to help himself, now that he was putting faces with names, things started making sense and he wanted to try and diffuse the situation mostly for Emily’s sake.

“Rachel's new husband. He seems nice.” The younger sibling returned. “You only say that because he tried to buy your affection too.” Steve and Emily exchanged a look with furrowed brows. “Are you still bitter that I attended the wedding for Gracie’s sake?” Danny huffed as he stood up and went into one of the glass offices. “Grace begged and pleaded for me to go, I was on leave.” she informed as she started gathering up the used supplies to throw them away, “I tried to talk Rachel out of it, including offering to be her getaway driver.” “Does he know that?” Emily shook her head, “He wouldn't listen, probably never will.”

My whole chapter titles is flying away after I wrote random chapters for Stand By Me

But I was thinking to change the title to:

The Heart of the Grey Stone - oh yes it would be with Stand By Me project but the title will be change and so will the summary.

I really enjoyed my holidays just writing random scenes. I had three chapters titles that thrown at me.

I quite enjoy writing the parting of OC and Steve McGarrett and I have a big plot twists for the crossovers which will have plenty of amusements.

Actually, I miss writing for Hawaii Five-0 too for all the fanfiction and I will always love the show, no matter how many times I watch it. When I watch season 7.04 when Alicia Brown and Steve McGarrett got 🔪 knife on the back, that was so much angst that I could cry and cry again.

What's your favourite season in Hawaii Five-0? 💜

I was just gutted when they discontinue the season. I wish they continue.

I still hope one day they continue the show.

What's your total word count? 1,534,546

What fandoms do you write for? Big Time Rush (TV series), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Case (video game), Harry Potter, Hawaii Five-0 (2010 series), Loonatics Unleashed, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012 series), Thunderbirds (1965 series), and Transformers: Prime

Top five fics by kudos: At the time of answering this: The Adventures of Avery Samuels: Welcome to Grimsborough (121), The Thunderbird and the Doctor (115), Take a Shot in the Dark (92), In the Darkness (82), Save You (82) - in case anyone's curous, I have 1,133 kudos across all my fics.

Do you respond to comments? I used to because I started it with The Thunderbird and the Doctor. But I don't really do that much anymore. I only reply if someone asks a question.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably Nothing For You Here.

What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? The Thunderbird and the Doctor since I gave my couple a happily ever after.

Do you get hate on fics? Not since I've been on AO3.

Do you write smut? Heck yeah!

Craziest crossover? Once upon a time, in my FFN days, I wrote a Loonatics Unleashed/Ben 10 crossover that I promptly abandoned. I tend to stay away from crossovers nowadays.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Unfortunately, yes. Someone took one of my fics and started posting it on Wattpad.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but it'd be cool if someone wanted to.

Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Way back when and it never worked out.

All-time favourite ship? Again, do shipping canon characters with my OCs count? Although, my original OTP was Ace/Lexi from Loonatics Unleashed...

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Probably In the Darkness. I'm just finding that increasingly hard to write.

What are your writing strengths? Probably my cliffhangers. Although, I got a lot of positive reviews on my smuts, so I'd say I'm good at writing smut.

What are your writing weaknesses? I have a lot (my confidence is nonexistant)

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? As long as a translation is easily accessible, I'm cool with it. I've never written in another language, but I won't say no to the challenge.

First fandom you ever wrote in? Loonatics Unleashed

Favourite fic you've written? No! I won't pick a favourite child! ...jokes. Today, it's Take a Shot in the Dark!

You, @themaradwrites @goldheartedchaoticdisaster and @cecexwrites have probably done the most to help me this year. When branching out into the OC Community, I connected to you all, primarily through the OC Creator Bingo. You have all become good friends to me, inspired me, been lovely commenters (both on my fics and in replying to my comments on yours), introduced me to new fandoms, sent me asks, and talked me through elements of my fics.

@shrinkthisviolet helped me dip my toe back into the Star Wars fandom, which was one of my first and treasured fandoms. I never would have watched the Obi-Wan Kenobi series without her. Lucy Kenobi was probably the first Star Wars OC that I read.

@come-along-pond and @the-time-lord-oracle have helped me (whether they knew it or not) by getting back into reading Doctor Who fanfiction, revisiting one of my favorite Doctors, and inspiring me to create my own OC for the fandom, which has made the 60th Anniversary of our show even better.

Three ships:

- I am a huge Star Wars fan and adore the forever problematic Padme/Anakin. Yes, their story starts questionably, yes it ends tragically, but man do I love everything in the middle.

- Astarion/Tav. This feels like a cop out because all Tavs are OCs, but I just adore non-ascended Astarion’s romance storyline and the complexity of it. I really think their relationship is a beautiful but raw representation of real life people.

- I don’t have any other die hard ships but I am a casual fan of: Shadowheart/Laezel from BG3, Steve/Danny from Hawaii Five-0, and House/Wilson from House MD (plus loads of others I am forgetting).

- I was also a hugeee Captain Cold/Flash shipper when I was a teen but I’ll leave that in my shame bin for now.

Last film:

Red, White and Royal Blue. Absolutely loved it! Would definitely watch again!

Currently watching:

The final season of House MD! Started it last year and fell in love! Also need to finish watching Ahsoka, and the new season of Great British Bake Off!

Currently reading:

Honestly, fan fiction. My ADHD is a pain for books (and movies for that matter) but I have been loving anything written by @justporo and @the-littlest-raindrop !

Anything Baldur’s Gate - the art, the fics, the TikToks, the community interaction, the game itself. I have not hyperfixated this hard in forever and I am very much enjoying it!

Ringing…

That’s all Harper can hear as she stares at the lifeless body on the ground in front of her, high pitched ringing.

He’s just a kid… sixteen years old, and she’s just ended his life.

She’s so transfixed by the sight she’s caused that she doesn’t realise Steve is next to her until he gently lowers her gun and takes it from her, unloading it before putting both the gun and magazine into his tactical vest.

“Come on” he says quietly, slowly guiding her to the back of a waiting ambulance so the paramedic can check her over.

He stays close, almost hovering over the paramedic as he checks her over.

“She’s ok, just in shock which is understandable given the circumstances” the paramedic tells Steve after a thorough exam.

“So I can take her home?” he asks, letting out a relived sigh when the paramedic gives him a solid nod.

“Not just yet, McGarrett. I need to question her” Detective Coughlin says from behind Steve, making him let out an exasperated sigh and roll his eyes before turning to look at the Internal Affairs detective.

“I was a clean shot Coughlin” he tells him, almost snapping. He’ll be damned if he’s going to let this snake try to rip Harper apart for this.

“I need her account, you know that” Coughlin says, stepping close to Steve and standing as tall as he can in a sad attempt to intimidate the ex SEAL.

Steve just rolls his eyes again and gives the paramedic a look before turning back to Harper and checking her over himself.

“You can ask all your questions tomorrow. She’s not fit for questioning tonight. She’s in shock and needs rest. She’s cleared to go home and sleep, nothing else” the paramedic tells the now very annoyed Detective, not caring about his need for answers.

“I need her badge and gun McGarrett. Unless you want to violate that procedure too?” Caughlin says, making Steve take a deep breath to stop him from completely losing his shit with the arrogant man in front of him.

He carefully gets Harper’s badge off her belt before standing up and getting in Caughlin’s face.

“Maybe if you actually gave a fuck about the officers you harass you wouldn’t need Five 0 to protect you when there’s a target on you head” he growls, shoving Harper’s badge, gun and magazine into Caughlin’s hands.

He turns his attention back to Harper, kneeling in front of her and brushing the hair out of her face, finally getting her attention.

“Huh?” she asks blankly, looking at him for the first time since she pulled the trigger.

“Let’s go home” he says quietly, smiling softly at her when she just nods in response.

It’s going to be a long, hard night…
