idk what discourse dimension some of you "fandom elders" are stuck in, but in my ~15 years in online (and sometimes irl) fandom spaces, this is the golden age for me

shipping wars have literally always existed and acting like we all used to hold hands and sing kumbaya is insane. "well, there wasnt this moral component thats soooo annoying these days" okay but thats worse. you do see how thats worse, right? people used to tell each other to kill themselves over zutara vs kataang and then not even care when people were racist. twice as mad for reasons half as reasonable. also, where were you all in 2015-2019? that was the era of "steven universe is fascism apologism" and "i headcanon these characters as found family, so its incest to ship them". now shipping "drama" is like "oh i broke mutuals with them after they wrote smut of this child character being assaulted by their parent", which is actually just a normal response

wondering what torment nexus some of you are trapped in where fandom has gotten more toxic? hope you can escape soon, because im having a ball out here in a world where biphobia is seen as a bigger problem than a ship being dumb

What do you think of Kooleen?

I think all popular (tutorial) art youtubers are boring at best and unpleasant and harmful at worst (to both art itself and real people; although i wouldnt normally separate these two, in kooleens case its important to clearly mention both considering shes working off a very racist mindset and this entire months old thing went way outside the art community) and the idea that there is only one way to draw anything in the world ever is a lie. Im a firm believer in the do whatever have fun and if your idea of fun is to draw pinterest girls in the cookie cutter instagram artstyle then sure but at the very least dont spread your limited and harmful ideas under the "tutorial" term

Ok, it's time to post about my opinions on the different relationships, so I'm not doing so in the middle of the night when I'm supposed to be sleeping.

To start off, I just want to say that these are all just my own opinions at the moment of posting, and I'm not trying to drag anyone for what they ship. People can enjoy what they want even if I'm just meh on it.

Crystal and Charles

Alright, so let's get this one out of the way first. I appreciate how the show kind of portrayed this as them going to each other for comfort more than for love. That being said, if this shows' goal was to make me think they were going to be an endgame pairing, then it failed. I think that they'll have their thing, but settle on just being friends, and that can still be beautiful. I just don't see it working out in the long term with Crystal being alive, and I don't feel like she is going to die. The show works well with her being alive and the boys being dead. Half the comedy is her interacting with the boys while everyone else just stares at her like wtf. They could very much be right person wrong time.

Monty and Edwin

I really like Monty. I love him, and that scene with him and Edwin on the swings was so sad. I don't know how much further this pair could go with Monty being a bird again, but I want to hope he can return. I feel like there is a little more to explore with this being that they were each others first kiss, and it could be cute, but not endgame.

Cat King and Edwin

I'm very meh on this one, unfortunately. I can see the appeal, but it just doesn't read to me, and I tried getting into it. I don't think they'll be endgame, but this one has the 2nd most potential.

On a separate note, this is the pairing that also makes me question why they didn't age the characters further. I feel like how ghosts mature after death needs to be explained a bit further. Otherwise, I see this being quite a fandom divider, and there has already been some division. Again, though, ship what you want. I literally don't care because these are fictional characters.

Charles and Edwin

Obviously, this is the big one. I adore this ship, and it has the potential to be exceedingly beautiful, whether it ends in friendship or romance. I, for one, want it to be canon because I would love to get a queer slowburn best friends to lovers romance arc for once. I feel like I never see long-standing male friendship that becomes romantic. It's either they've become close because they are into each other, or they were friends, but not best friends, and it always happens in a single season. I will say as well though that if they just remain friends I'd be perfectly fine with it as long as they revisit the possibility of it happening, because you can't have Charles say what he does in response to Edwin's confession and not revisit. Like the chapter isn't closed yet.

Funniest thing about the Minecraft movie is that back in the day there were so many animation channels that made beautiful Minecraft videos, even writing fun, interesting stories (dig build live, egg's guide to Minecraft, etc) but ig the studio had no og Minecraft fans working there so they don't know that that's the kind of stuff people like and would be interested in seeing as a whole movie? But no, some douche was like "what if,,,, Minecraft but Realistic???" cuz ig that's the fashion now. "Live action" adaptations of things that absolutely don't need to be live action. Minecraft fans probably aren't a reliable source on what Minecraft things people enjoy, we gotta be faithful to the Holy Algorithm that TELLS people what to like.

something ive fucking hated seeing this june is people saying that bc one person of xyz identity said something stupid that they won't want to share an identity with them ie "im going back in the closet" or "i dont want to identify as that anyone im switching to the another identity" or "im ashamed to be xyz". i don't shame these people for feeling that way, its just that people think its acceptable to encourage people to think everyone of and identity is bad simple bc one person with that identity might be bad. its acceptable to generalize entire groups of people based off something one person said on this piss poor website for some reason if people have decided Those People are inherently bad oppressive or stupid. and everyone seems perfectly fine with people suddenly feeling that way. somehow a queer person expressing the desire to be closeted again is a internet win if their identity is cringe enough
