idk what discourse dimension some of you "fandom elders" are stuck in, but in my ~15 years in online (and sometimes irl) fandom spaces, this is the golden age for me
shipping wars have literally always existed and acting like we all used to hold hands and sing kumbaya is insane. "well, there wasnt this moral component thats soooo annoying these days" okay but thats worse. you do see how thats worse, right? people used to tell each other to kill themselves over zutara vs kataang and then not even care when people were racist. twice as mad for reasons half as reasonable. also, where were you all in 2015-2019? that was the era of "steven universe is fascism apologism" and "i headcanon these characters as found family, so its incest to ship them". now shipping "drama" is like "oh i broke mutuals with them after they wrote smut of this child character being assaulted by their parent", which is actually just a normal response
wondering what torment nexus some of you are trapped in where fandom has gotten more toxic? hope you can escape soon, because im having a ball out here in a world where biphobia is seen as a bigger problem than a ship being dumb

i’m so curious as to what abilities charles would even have in rivals it’s hard to me to think about what telepaths can do in rivals esp charles who’s only rlly a telepath (and on some occasions has telekinesis) like emma has her diamond form jean has the phoenix and telekinesis but JUST a telepath in rivals is hard for me to think abt
i'm SO curious to see what charles' kit in rivals would be too but not because i doubt the potential of charles' access to abilities, i'm just so curious to see how net ease would play with him and what their ideas are for him. i could sit here and make ability kits for him all day really
even as predominantly a telepath, charles still has access to psionic blasts and waves and has demonstrated being able to topple sentinels and armies with these abilities. on occasion, he seems to be able to disrupt/interact with firearm functions and machinery on top of that.
and of course he has that little bit of telekinesis (not that i think it could do much all things considered but we'll give it an honorable mention why not)
we've also seen how telepathy by itself can be dangerous when it comes to the likes of inducing your greatest fears or putting you to sleep/rendering you immobile in other ways (though because of mantis' sleep ability i'm sure inducing sleep specifically wouldn't be an option for charles.), and we've seen telepathy used to buff others when it comes to stabilizing their mood/easing anxieties.
charles has even used his powers on himself to dull pains, so i don't doubt telepathy could be used to bolster the attack/defense of teammates/charles himself. if you really wanna play around, i could see giving charles a 'sonar' ability that lets him detect nearby enemies/see through walls within a certain radius of himself, but now i be gettin ahead of meself
i think the REAL question here is after the hurdle of What Would He Do is answered for charles, how would magneto be affected by any of his telepathic abilities.... ruh roh....

was looking up the only ash wednesday song ive ever loved (offering of ashes. btw. or just ashes. tom conry 1978 i know nothing else about this man except that he wrote this song) (for fic purposes) and stumbled upon a forum full of catholics discussing the revised version that was included in the 2021 hymnal and boyyyyyyyy the trads HATE this song. it was a 70s piece and a bit hippydippy in the sense that, for a catholic song, it is low on guilt and strong on self-forgiveness, and the first guy in the thread just has to point out that the unrevised version was too pelagian to be properly catholic

very interested in the type of training ada does to develop her fighting style
#speakerphone!#obvs shes working with knives. i would argue shes likely on krausers level if not above him.#there is a flip she does in 6 that makes me think shes got some strong gymnastics training#how she lifts her legs up in damnation tells me she has incredible core strength (evident in her body control when using the grapple gun)#the power in her kicks is on par with leons and its only increased when used in combinations w hookshot.#frankly so much of her fighting style tells me she should also be fucking huge. but alas she is a woman and capcom is not going to let women#be anything other than thin with curves.#i guess i can see that as a spy she doesnt want to be HUGE so she doesnt draw attention while on missions. but also? shes a character made#by people w real world biases including misogyny. so. that point is kinda moot.#you know who else i dont think is thin and curvy? jill. in my head shes got very broad shoulders and very muscular arms#(evidenced by her ability to hold the plasma rifle and gun) (and obvs theres no way she can hold it as a human. but if she could she'd have#huge arms and broad shoulders) and that is my truth‼️‼️‼️

i finished twelfth night. 25 out of 38 shakespeare plays completed.
#after finally reading othello and twelfth night in the past 10 days im not sure which are the most famous plays i still havent read#bc like ive mentioned previously ive always read the plays in arbitrary order. whatever piqued my interest#hence why i read the henry vi plays relatively early on. or some of the more obscure comedies#but lately since i past the halfway mark this year some of the more talked-about ones im like 'geez i should just get to that one already'#not that that makes me enjoy it any less. i think i mentioned that in my post i made while reading othello#i fucking loved othello. that shit was 10/10 although i very much was reading it bc i felt like i had to at that point.#doesnt mean i wouldnt love it. after all i only read shakespeare bc i love shakespeare! not bc theres a gun to my head#its more like i just want to know what everyone's talking about already#tales from diana#i think at this point the most famous one i still havent read is... much ado about nothing? which isnt THAT famous all things considered#but some of you ppl do seem to be awful crazy about it so ill see#i already knew the plot of twelfth night i had just never read the original. now i have#so i kinda already knew how much enjoyment i could get out of it. some! a good amount!#but i found it a quick read and i wasnt THAT excited about it#the next one i want to read is pericles though. ive read 8 shakespeare plays in 2023 but none have been romances!#i do love the romances. the romances are still the only genre where i havent read more than half of them#ive read 2 out of 5. the tempest and the winter's tale... two of my favorites overall#in a way ive kind of been holding myself back from reading more romances bc i needed to check some of my 'required reading' boxes lol
