Yo yo, do you think you could write hcs about a gn reader who has very sensitive skin who is dating Ratio? I feel like Ratio would love quality time with his lover, and baths together would be one avenue. But what would he do to work around readerâs skin issues? (I have to use special body wash and lotion after bathing otherwise I will literally never stop the itch rip)
Your Skin, My Careful Study
Tags: Ratio x Reader, Fluff, Domesticity, Established Relationship, Thoughtful Partner, Protective Ratio, Skincare & Self-Care, Sensitive Skin Accommodations, Bath Time, Gentle Affection, Intellectual Romance.
Warnings: Just soft, caring Ratio being incredibly attentive and meticulous about your comfort đ«¶đ
A/N: I'm so sorry to hear that anon đđ it must be a struggle

Ratio is incredibly detail-oriented, so the moment he learns about your sensitive skin, he researches extensively. He wonât just look up generic solutionsâhe'll analyze dermatological studies, consult experts, and maybe even develop his own custom regimen for you.
Since he enjoys baths with you, he ensures that the water temperature is just right and only uses the most soothing, hypoallergenic bath products. He even experiments with making his own bath oils infused with gentle, natural ingredients. If he discovers a formula that works well for you, he considers patenting itâjust for fun.
Any clothing or bedding he buys for you must pass his âskin test.â If itâs not ultra-soft, breathable, and non-irritating, he wonât allow it near you. He'll special-order silk sheets and make sure your towels feel like clouds. Heâd definitely brag about how your comfort is a top-tier priority.
Ratio enjoys the intimacy of helping you with skincare. If applying lotion or soothing balms is necessary, he does it himself with steady, careful hands, taking his time as if he's conducting a delicate experiment. Youâll catch a soft, almost smug smile when he sees how much better your skin feels afterward.
If anyone dismisses your skin sensitivity, Ratio immediately shuts them down with cold, cutting precision. He has zero patience for ignorance and will lecture them until they regret speaking. Heâd also subtly shield you from anything that might irritate your skinâwhether that means steering you away from strong perfumes or ensuring no rough materials touch you.
If extreme temperatures trigger flare-ups, Ratio devises a plan. He ensures the environment around you is always optimalâwhether it's adjusting room humidity, carrying a cooling gel pack, or having custom-tailored clothing for different seasons. If you ever get too warm or too cold, he fixes it before you even have to say anything.
Since he adores wisdom and academia, Ratio turns self-care into a ritual. He'll light gentle, non-irritating candles, put on calming classical music, and wrap you in the softest robe. He may even wear his alabaster mask, joking that heâs your personal guardian of skin health.
He wonât always outright say he worries about your skin, but you'll find neatly organized lists of recommended products, ingredient breakdowns, and skincare guides subtly left in places you'll find them. If you ever tease him about it, heâll feign indifferenceâthough the faint smirk gives him away.
While enjoying baths together, he casually analyzes the way your skin reacts to different conditions. âHmm⊠so your skin prefers lukewarm water over warm. Fascinating.â Itâs half-joking, half-genuine curiosity. If you splash water at him in retaliation, heâll chuckle and retaliateâgently, of course.
While Ratio has a sharp, analytical mind, he softens when it comes to you. If your skin ever gets irritated, he never makes you feel like a burden. Instead, he methodically helps soothe the discomfort, as if itâs the most natural thing in the universe. And when your skin feels good? He subtly admires you more, brushing his fingers over yours with an unspoken sense of pride.

Hi victoryai!
Not sure if you have answered this before but what is some of your favourites and least favourites placement and why?
Most & Least favourite placements đ”âđ« and why?
Hi!
I've never really thought about this đ€ but........
No placement is "perfect" and no placement is"doom"
No shade to any placement. This is just an opinion. No intention of hurting anyone. I Know you guys are gonna come after me for this post besides I'm used to it
đ§MOST FAVORITES.
1. Sagittarius Sun: OMG I just go crazyyyyyyyy đfor you guys. I love this sun placement so very much because I consider it to be a full package. This people are fortunate. They're always so lucky and even tend to escape problems easily. And their sense of humor is đover the topđ.
2. Gemini Venus: This is the ultimate â€ïžVenus sign for me. This dudes are not even hard to love. Just spend time with them and you'll find yourself more socially active and more happy than usual. I'm not kidding đ. Those rizz lines đđ...
3. Taurus sun: From what I've noticed, people with this placement get material things easily, with the least amount of stress. And OMG they know how to take care of themselves. You might be given the same amount of money with them but they utilize theirs so damn well đ. And they always look so taken care of đ„°.
4. Venus in 10th house: This is a top pleasant placement because it portrays someone as a very agreeable person, easily liked and admired. This is someone that a random stranger can easily ask for directions because their public persona is very pleasing at first glance. And they don't find it hard in fitting in among people they barely know. That is the charm of this placement .
đ§LEAST FAVORITES
1. Sun in 6th house/Virgo stellium: In my opinion, this placement is a two edged sword âïž. It can cut both ways. I've noticed some patterns with this placement. 1st pattern is that category of people who tend to be very strong, adamant and brave, standing face to face with danger, and have an upper hand against their enemies in times of conflict. 2nd pattern is that category of people who work like their live depends on it, constantly striving for perfection (which is good). They literally overwork themselves with every detail. Someone who is professionally inclined with an analytical mind. 3rd pattern consist of people who have battled with a very serious illness in their lifetime or someone who is frequently ill.
This is just my observation. A sun in 6th houser/Virgo stellium may or may not fall into this categories.
2. Sun in 12th house: Sun is the center of attraction. The source of light Everything revolves around it. I don't really like this placement because I believes it hides the most important planet in a foggy house. This guys need good energy around them because of their sensitive nature. Their need to be left alone is too much. You can never know what they're thinking or what their next move is, they're just so concealed. And they feel deeply too.
3. 7th lord in 1st house: For some reason, people who have this placement tend to have spouse who are so much in their faces, like spouses who are somewhat confrontational. I don't know if you get me? And I've also noticed that whatever their spouses do, it always gets to them and incites a reaction. Its like triggering someone. But some people like this so....đ€·.
4. Mars in Cancer: Underrating these people will be a very mistake on my part because they have an inbuilt pain absorber. They see it, feel it, keep it and move on. I happened to be interested in the case of a cartel Boss and I was like I'm sure he has an exalted Mars. So I decided to check it out and turns out he was a Cancer Mars đŻ. I was so shocked . Forget that Cancer is an emotional sign , these guys fight with strategy, not just on impulse like Aries.

sdj boys and dachabo reactions to horror/scary movies?
Hmm... now there's an intriguing question. How one reacts to horror movies can be pretty subjective, and the cast of Sunshine in Hell do run a pretty wide gambit across the board. The reactions can be pretty darn varied, all things considered.
Bo & Barbie
Let's start off with Bo for a change of pace. Bo, being AI, doesn't experience fear the same way a human would. He was never a child, so there are no childhood fears to play on or influence him psychologically. He doesn't have a body of flesh and blood that can bleed or rot, so body horror doesn't hit him the same way. Many staples of horror movies prey on the fragility of the human condition and are influenced by living in human society. Bo, simply, has no point of reference for this.
Overall, Bo would be looking at the movies through an analytical gaze. He was built to be ideal companion, which means that he was programmed with a wealth of information when it comes to psychology, sociology, etc. While he might not be able to fully understand what it means to be human or what makes us afraid, he still has a good sense of human behavior, at least when it comes from a theoretical point of view.
As such, Bo isn't going to be affected by the horror aspect of horror movies... with few exceptions.
Psychological horror might be able to dig its hooks into Bo, particularly questions of what it truly means to be human. The fear of loss and loneliness are pretty universal, even for an AI. He was kept trapped in a box on display for years, utterly ignored except for the rare occasions that collection was shown off to someone else. He was isolated, untouched. His sapience was denied, and his needs dismissed.
Which is why Bo can't get enough of Barbie touching and interacting with him. Sure, she treats him like a toy at first, but she at least plays along with the idea that he has a mind and soul of his own until she accepts it as the truth.
Horror stories about haunted dolls or computers taking revenge for being ignored might hit close to home for Bo. It's not scary, but rather thought provoking. He certainly has a hitlist of people who have wronged him, but he truly doesn't care enough about his creators or the person who used to possess him to want to bother to go after them.
Well, not at the moment at any rate. Revenge is a lower priority compared to ensuring his own survival, propagating, and keeping Barbie with him forever and ever.
Horror movies involving beasts hunting down their helpless prey will spark something in Bo, but it isn't fear. He'd get a vicarious thrill, his programmed instincts urging him to hunt and draw blood like the dog he was modeled to emulate. In these movies he'd be rooting for the monster, especially if they're a canid in nature.
Horror movies about AI being evil in general would just give Bo more data to improve his interactions with Barbie and other humans. The AI in those movies usually fail by coming across as uncanny and telegraphing their real intentions to the humans. If he can take note of what behaviors put humans on edge, he can avoid tipping them off to his true intentions.
Of course, a lot of horror movies are pretty schlocky and require people to make stupid and unrealistic decisions to get to the scary bits. Bo would be rolling his eyes when the humans writing the story didn't even bother to try to pretend that the characters in the movie are actually human.
It's kind of offensive to someone like him who's working so hard to understand and emulate humans, really.
It'd be rare for Bo to give in to the suspension of disbelief required to enjoy a fictional story when the logic errors and plot holes keep piling up. He'd be a real killjoy at first until Barbie barks at him to shut up and let her enjoy the movie in peace.
Of course, Barbie isn't above a good snark. Really, she has a critical mind when it comes to stories too. A bad movie will have her ranting at the screen about its stupidity and making very scathing remarks.
As such I imagine a fair number of horror movie nights would be Barbie and Bo absolutely tearing apart truly awful movies. At least until Barbie loses her patience with whatever they were watching and just switches it out for something better.
While Barbie has high standards when it comes to what movies she'll sit through, she is more affected by horror movies than Bo is for obvious reasons. She has a decent tolerance for scares and gore, but sometimes a movie will manage to get under her skin. She won't ever admit it of course, even if she winds up sleeping with the light on. She just didn't want to bother to turn it off! Get off her case!
Bo, naturally, is quick to reassure Barbie that he'll protect her from any real threat. Of course, explaining why a fictional monster or concept can't hurt her won't go over as well. She'll find any such explanation condescending, and she'll be quick to snap that she's not afraid, and she knows it isn't real. She's not stupid or a child.
While Barbie does appreciate that Bo wants to be helpful and is protective of her, she doesn't respond well to anything that undermines her competence or intelligence, even if unintentional. It's something he learns quickly to work around in order to keep his puppy happy.
So Bo studies Barbie's reactions as much as he does the movie and why the humans who created it crafted it the way they did. What they put into the story and how it affects others, particularly his puppy, can be vital knowledge for him.
Bo also realizes that there are perks to finding good horror movies that can unsettle his puppy. Barbie is more likely to cling to him without acknowledging that she's doing so when she's on edge, especially during the more tense moments in a movie. When he has a wider access to movie libraries and reviews, he'll look for more movies that're likely to provoke this reaction out of her so he can be her protector.
Bo is the best guard dog after all.
Barbie is so proud and independent. Opportunities to have her depending on him and looking to him for safety can be pretty addicting for Bo. Plus it's the perfect excuse for him to offer her a "distraction" in the form of seduction. Sex is a great way to relieve tension and to forget about all the scary things that might be out there.
Of course it was a bit more difficult for Bo to offer Barbie much in the way of protection before she let him out of his little plastic shell.
Overall, Bo gets a lot more enjoyment out of how Barbie reacts to a movie than he does to the movie itself. The more he learns about her, the more he can be the perfect, ideal companion for her. That way he won't ever lose her to anyone.
On that note, let's switch over to another yandere.
Jack
Now Jack is a very intriguing case. Joseph watched a lot of old horror movies on TV late at night at a kid. He snuck into theaters to see all sorts of movies as a teen and adult so that he wouldn't have to pay admission. This behavior continued even when he was homeless. Of course, it was a lot riskier as an adult, as his giant size made it harder for him to slip around unnoticed.
Joseph has had a love of TV and movies for all of his life. They served as an escape from loneliness, a faux sort of company when no one else wanted to be around him. He taught himself to imitate the behavior of popular characters in an attempt to get others to like him.
Naturally, Joseph shared this love with his soulmate during the times she was in his life. Mary wasn't allowed to watch TV in her house, but she was able to discover her own love of shows and movies when the two of them relaxed at his house or snuck into the movie theater.
A lot of horror movies back then were pretty cheesy, with questionable acting and special effects, but there were some classics that still stick with him even to this day as Jack, even if only subconsciously. A particular classic episode of the Eventide Territory (a horror sci-fi show like the Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits) disturbed Joseph greatly when he first saw it, and it itched at the back of his mind. It was about a man going mad from isolation to the point that he imagines an entire empty reality around him. The episode would hit so much harder in retrospect if he could consciously remember it as Jack. It might even serve as a form of foreshadowing for the fate he would face after the incident...
Overall, Joseph had a positive opinion of horror movies, and he quite enjoyed them. There's a nice thrill in the suspense, the mystery, and the human condition of trying to survive in all odds.
There was also the thrill of watching horror movies with Mary when she would cling to him during the particularly scary parts. It made Joseph feel so needed, and he enjoyed cuddling with her.
Watching horror movies without her wasn't the same. Joseph still enjoyed watching movies even on his own. Any movie was a reprieve from the life he was living, especially when he was homeless... but he missed his sunshine's company all the more whenever he did something they used to enjoy together.
When Mary and Joseph were able to reunite when grown up, there were plenty of movie nights together. The two of them were run ragged at LambsWorks, and most of their energy was spent working, so just relaxing together on the sofa while watching a movie was how they spent date nights most of the time.
Neither Joseph nor Mary were overly scared by most horror movies. Sure there are moments to make either or both of them jump or tense up, but horror movies were an overall good experience to them. Mary did tend to exaggerate her fear though as an excuse to snuggle up with Joseph during the more intense moments. He didn't catch on, but he always enjoyed cuddle time.
While horror movies were a fun and positive experience for Joseph, the same can't quite be said for Sunny Day Jack.
In the canon for the character of Sunny Day Jack, as written for the SunnyTime Crew Show, Jack and the rest of his friends were easily spooked by scary things, which included horror movies. The Halloween episode was all about the crew trying to help kids not be scared of the dark, while they themselves were also scared. It was a lesson about how everyone gets scared at times and real bravery is doing your best in spite of that fear.
The tone of the episode overall was very lighthearted. Sunny Day Jack put on a brave face and a smile, even as he and the other clowns would jump at the sound of thunder or the curtains blowing in the breeze at night, among other small things that might scare a young child.
Joseph always threw himself into the character of Sunny Day Jack. He did his best to see things as the character would and always react the way Sunny Day Jack would. He learned to understand why Sunny Day Jack might get spooked so easily so that he could better bring the character to life for the kids.
This creates an interesting conflict for him in the present day as Jack.
The character of Sunny Day Jack would be terrified of horror movies, especially if they were PG-13 and above. However, Joseph regularly enjoyed mature rated horror movies.
Jack has deeply convinced himself that he's Sunny Day Jack, and Sunny Day Jack should be scared of horror movies. But he's not scared... so he convinces himself that he is.
So Jack once more puts on an act and loses himself in the role. The first time Alice suggests watching a horror movie together, he has to balance that fine line of convincingly being afraid yet putting on a brave face for his sunshine.
Alice, being sensitive to others' needs, would notice her kid show host friend's unease, and would reconsider the idea. Of course, Jack wouldn't want to disappoint her or risk losing the opportunity to do something fun together, and he would insist they watch it. He would have to prove to her that he's fine... but also keep in character that Sunny Day Jack should be terrified.
The first time watching a horror movie leads to some unpleasant dissonance for Jack. He's more conscious about his own reactions while trying to be the friend and company his sunshine needs. He should be scared, so he must be, even if he doesn't feel like he is. He needs to believe that he is. Being out of character invites questions about his identity that he can't handle asking...
When Jack manages to focus on the film, he does enjoy it. It's only when he gets distracted from being in character that he can relax. It's the moments where he's conscious of himself and his actions that he he has to remember to flinch or yelp quietly. He can't do too much, otherwise he'll worry Alice and ruin her experience, but he can't just do nothing when he knows a certain moment would absolutely make Sunny Day Jack feel afraid.
What helps this conflict going through his mind is when Alice invites Jack to hold onto her when he gets scared during the movie. She's used to it actually, as she was the person Ian clung to during the few times they watched horror movies together, and her younger siblings would naturally cling to the oldest during family movie nights.
This offers Jack an opportunity and a way to balance out this dissonance in his mind. Whenever there's a moment that would scare Sunny Day Jack, he can just cling to Alice and cuddle her close. He can focus more on the softness of her body, her warmth, and her gentle compassion rather than his own internal conflict. It's a good excuse to get closer to her even before they become lovers.
He, Sunny Day Jack, would no doubt be soothed by his sunshine's comfort. He'd feel less scared, so he can accept that he isn't scared. It's all thanks to Alice that he can feel at ease.
Of course, Alice herself serves as her own distraction for Jack. The glow of the screen in her eyes as she watches the movie is enchanting. The little shifts in her expression as events unfold are fascinating. He has to consciously try not to stare at her too much, lest it make her uncomfortable. So instead he focuses on her warmth, her heartbeat, her breathing, and the gentle plushness of her soft, cuddly body.
This invites thoughts to wander to very mature territory that was never covered in the series bible for any of the SunnyTime Crew Show characters. Jack then has to refocus his thoughts for an entirely different reason than before.
Thanks to Alice, Jack finds a way to resolve the dissonance between his true feelings and what he's "supposed" to be feeling as Sunny Day Jack. Good friends can help us feel brave. That was a big part of the episode's lesson, and it still holds true now. Alice helps Jack feel braver, so he can enjoy the horror movies thanks to her. Her courage gives him courage, so whenever a scary scene comes up that he knows would scare him, Sunny Day Jack, he can just squeeze Alice a little tighter.
From Alice's point of view, Jack is very uneasy the first time they set out to watch a horror movie. She almost decides against it altogether, but he insists that he wants to watch it with her. When he jumps and squeaks, she offers her hand for him to hold, and checks in on him to see if he's okay to continue.
Jack insists that he's fine as long as he can keep holding onto Alice. When he praises her for her bravery, her heart starts to flutter and she has to look away from him with warm cheeks. After a few more flinches and squeezing of her hands, she slips a hand away to wrap around him and give him a hug, asking if this helps.
Oh my yes. Cuddling together helps a lot. Jack eagerly wraps his arm around Alice while keeping their fingers entwined with his other hand. He wants to do more, her warmth so distracting. It's so cozy... so familiar... so right.
Alice notices Jack starting to relax so she can enjoy the movie too. There's something so nostalgic watching movies with him like this. Sure she's cuddled up with friends and family many times in the past while watching films, but this is a different kind of familiar. It's like their bodies were just made to slot together like this. She doesn't really think much about the feeling though, just focusing on how comfortable it is and feeling satisfied that she helped her friend feel better.
Movie nights are a regular thing for Jack and Alice, though it's only occasionally horror themed. After work, the two snuggle up on the sofa to watch a movie or binge watch a series. Jack stops thinking about how he "should" be scared over a horror movie and instead can just bask in the moment. It's only natural that his fears would fade away thanks to his sunshine. With her by his side, he has nothing to fear.
Alice
Alice has a high tolerance when it comes to horror. Though she's not a fan of torture porn, she isn't fazed by buckets of blood and guts splattered across the screen. She enjoys a wide variety of horror from psychological to kaiju to campy to kids horror to analog, and the list goes on.
That isn't to say that Alice is completely unflappable when it comes to getting scared. Sometimes a horror movie's story lingers in her mind enough to nudge her into double-checking the locks on her doors and windows. These feelings hit harder when she was living alone, but with roommates it doesn't bother her quite as much.
The presence of Jack in her life gives Alice a surprising level of reassurance. Sure, she was freaked out when he first appeared, but once she accepted that he wasn't a threat, his very existence put certain things into perspective for her.
Either Alice is seeing/hearing/feeling things that aren't there, or she has a supernatural giant clown living with her. Both prospects bring their own kind of terrifying implications.
Despite this, Jack is a very comforting presence in her life. He's kind, gentle, and helpful. He goes out of his way to respect her boundaries and feelings. He promised to keep her safe and protect her, and somehow she can tell that he truly means it. If he's a real entity and not just her imagination, then she at least has an extra set of eyes watching her back for her. She doesn't have to sleep alone at night.
If Jack isn't real, well... then Alice has a lot bigger problems than any boogie man hiding in the dark.
Although Alice doesn't consciously admit it to herself for a while, she accepts the idea that Jack really exists right away. There's just something so familiar about his presence. Besides, she knows that if he is real, it would be unwise to ignore him. It would also be cruel, as she's the only one he can interact with.
The more time they spend together, the more convinced Alice is that Jack is real. Naturally this means that other supernatural entities are probably real as well, but even if they are, she at least has one of those sort of entities on her side. Time helps her trust for him grow as well.
Plus, Jack has this way of making Alice feel safe. He's a giant with huge muscles and unknown supernatural powers. She should be terrified of him, or at least constantly on edge. But she's not. He's so comforting... What's scarier than his presence might be how at ease he makes her feel.
Movie nights are familiar and comfortable, even when some maniac on the screen is chasing down helpless campers with a chainsaw. The ghost that haunts and possesses the confused characters on screen in particular doesn't seem as intimidating anymore. Maybe that ghost was just lost, confused, and lonely. Maybe they just needed a friend.
Not that Alice knows for sure if Jack is a ghost. She'll try to find answers about what he is and how he wound up connected to the tape when she can, but no matter what he is, Jack is a welcome presence in her life.
To Alice, Jack feels like home.
On that warm and fuzzy note, let's move on to the next character on the list.
Ian
Ian, as you might expect, is not a fan of horror movies. They leave him feeling tense in a bad way, and sometimes they can trigger a trauma response when people are yelling and screaming on screen. It reminds him too much of certain moments with his mother... The few times he actually managed to watch horror movies usually brought him to tears.
Knowing that Alice is a fan of horror movies, Ian did try to be brave and watch one with her at various points in their lives. As kids, they tried to watch a horror movie while he was sleeping over at her house. He hid in his sleeping bag practically the whole time and wound up wetting the bed after having awful nightmares.
Alice felt awful for how much Ian suffered because he wanted to do something that she enjoyed. She was a lot more mindful of how he felt after that, and they didn't see a horror movie again until they were dating.
Ian wasn't exactly excited to see a horror movie, but by the time he was college age, he wanted to finally face his fears. He wanted to prove to his girlfriend that he was brave and that she could share her enjoyment of scary stuff with him too, and not just Shaun her friends.
Ian had psyched himself up for their movie date. He figured it'd be less scary in a theater full of people. He would be brave. He could be like those strong and manly men in the self-help videos who tucked their girl in their arms during the scary parts of movies and told them that it was going to be okay.
"It's okay, baby. Daddy's here to keep you safe."
Not that Ian could ever bring himself to say a cheesy line like that, at least not yet. He was still learning how to act and lose himself in the character he wanted to be after all.
Still, it was something Ian tried to become... only to fail miserably.
Ian was the one who wound up clinging to Alice and she had to comfort him. It was like they were kids all over again. He clung to her hand and tried not to shake, but his attempt at being brave was a failure. He jumped with a shriek when Alice whispered in his ear, asking if he was okay.
Though Ian tried to insist he could handle the movie at first, eventually Alice got him to admit that he couldn't. He was mortified, but relieved when she ushered him out of the theater before the movie was even over.
It was another humiliation for Ian and another blow to his self-esteem. The only good thing to come out of it was the way Alice pampered and reassured him afterwards. They got to cuddle in bed together all night in her dorm, as he was too scared to go back to his place.
Ian also got a little bit of satisfaction from noticing that Shaun appeared to be somewhat annoyed watching the two of them go into Alice's room that night. Maybe it was just his imagination, and maybe it was petty of him, but it did make him feel a little better.
The next time Ian watched a horror movie was with his new friends in California. He had gotten better at acting by that point. He was still terrified and hated the experience, but he felt the need to prove himself. He didn't want to lose the new and improved reputation he gained with his new friends either.
Though his smile was shaky, Ian managed to make it through the movie without letting on how much he was screaming on the inside. Drinks afterwards with his friends helped take the edge off his fear, even if he got pretty drunk. That night he stayed up late on a video call with Alice, terrified that he had to sleep alone in his apartment.
It was an awkward drunken call, but Alice kept Ian company until he fell asleep. He barely remembered any of it the next day, but overall he felt proud of himself for being so brave. Alice praised him for his courage too when she found out about his horror movie night.
In the present day, Ian has learned how to better dodge horror movie nights with his new friends. He avoids taking acting jobs that have to do with horror. He's gotten better with dealing with horror and is braver now, but he still hates it. Horror still leaves him shaky and on edge. He still can't see how other people enjoy it.
Ian might not scream, cry, or wet himself due to horror movies anymore, but he still hates the genre. He'd rather cry over romance movies instead. At least then he can feel some catharsis when the star-crossed lovers manage to get together in the end.
Shaun
In contrast to Ian, Shaun is all about horror. He absolutely loves horror movies, TV shows, online videos, audio books, podcasts, etc. Horror is in this man's blood. He grew up in a house full of horror lovers. He had family movie nights with his mom and dad watching age appropriate horror movies ever since he could remember. Their house was dressed up and ready for Halloween for every single day of the year.
Shaun isn't just a fan of watching horror movies. He's been filming his own homemade horror movies ever since he learned how to use a camera. He has countless recordings of the films he made with himself, his parents, the family cats, and any friends willing to participate.
Sharing his love of horror is practically one of his love languages. Shaun will come across cool horror shorts and immediately send it to his besties. Sometimes he does it because he knows that they'll like it, and sometimes he does it to cackle at them cursing him out for the surprise scare. It's all in good fun though.
When they were still rooming together at college, Shaun and Alice would have horror movie nights on a regular basis. It was a way to unwind after the stress of studying, especially if the movie was so bad it's good. Laughing at awful CGI and terrible acting is a great stress relief from the pressure they were under.
It takes a lot to actually scare Shaun. He can see a jump scare coming a mile away, and he knows just how to subvert an audience's expectations. He can appreciate a horror film both through the lens of the audience and the director. His older works might have been pretty derivative and obvious, but his current catalogue of films are masterworks of horror and romance intermingled.
Oh, Shaun might pretend that he's scared if the mood calls for it, but it's blatantly obvious that he's faking it. His acting skills are wooden and clunky. He's much better behind the camera than in front of it.
For Shaun, horror is comforting. It's thrilling, fun, and overall just a joy to experience. He loves sharing good horror stories that resonate with him. He gets an added thrill when he's able to scare the pants off of the person he's sharing the story with. It just goes to show that he knows his stuff.
Seeing a horror movie on a date night is an absolute must for Shaun. Having his date cling to him in terror would send his heart racing in a way the movie can't quite manage. That nervous excitement would make it hard for him to sit still, and it would thrill him to be his partner's safe space. He'd be sure to offer comfort and reassurance whenever they needed it.
Shaun is also the type of little shit to jump scare his partner even if he got pummeled with pillows in retaliation for it. Naturally, he'd make sure that his partner was okay with being scared first. It's only fun pulling pranks if they're having fun too. If his partner isn't able to deal with horror very well, then he'll avoid scaring them and would only share horror media that they could handle. He'd go out of his way to try and find a middle ground where they can both enjoy what he's so passionate about.
Horror and romance both set off similar feelings of exhilaration in Shaun, which make them such a perfect match in his mind. Romance can make the horror more tragic and hit harder. It can also serve as the fuel to keep a person going even when the world has become a nightmare. Fear and love have a way of complementing each other so well, and he wants to showcase that in his films.
Alice sharing his love of horror, the gothic aesthetic, and cats are just some of the many reasons why she and Shaun got along so well. They had so much fun together making fun of bad horror movies and discussing what they liked or disliked about good horror movies. It was just another reason why he couldn't stop himself from being attracted to her, even though he knew he shouldn't since she was in a relationship already.
Shaun kept trying to quiet the little "what if" thoughts that plagued him every time Alice made his heart skip a beat. Instead, he tried to find a similar sort of connection with the other people he dated throughout college. Sadly, he's still looking for that perfect spooky soulmate of his to be the Morticia to his Gomez... just like his parents were for one another.
The only downside to having a partner with a high tolerance for horror is that they won't cling to Shaun during the scary moments. Sure he snuggles up to his close friends at times during horror movie nights, but it's not the same thing as being clung to desperately by a loving partner.
Alice never threw her arms around his neck and buried her face in his chest when they watched a horror movie together. Just the thought of it would get Shaun hot and bothered and might've influenced him to seek out the scariest movies he could find. It never happened, but they did cuddle up together on the couch or on sleeping bags, and that was nice too.
Shaun might long for more, but his friendship with Alice and the moments they've shared together are something he won't trade for the world.
Horror movies don't scare Shaun. Real life is far scarier... though he has a high tolerance for even real life scares. The thought of meeting a ghost(?) like Jack is something Shaun finds thrilling rather than scary. He's only scared of what this unknown entity called Jack might plan to do to his bestie. He'd switch places with Alice in being attached to Jack in a heartbeat if he could.
For as much as Shaun loves horror, for as high as his tolerance for fear is, the thing he's most afraid of is seeing the people he loves get hurt. Or worse, losing them completely.
Nick
In contrast to the extreme feelings of Shaun and Ian, Nick is pretty middle of the road when it comes to horror. He doesn't hate it, but he can get pretty squeamish about it. He knows his limits, and he knows when to tap out when things get to be too much.
Overall, Nick prefers a milder horror experience. Jump scares are fine, and can even be fun. He's a fan of franchises like Six Nights at Stella's, which skews towards a younger demographic when it comes to its scares. He's even posted some videos showcasing his reactions to playing the games on his MeTube. One dedicated fan even made a compilation video of all his screams during the gameplay.
Nick doesn't do a lot of gaming content for MeTube. He mostly does whatever reaction or challenge that interests him and his friends in the moment. His LonelyFans is where the big money is, so he can afford to just goof around and do whatever he likes on MeTube.
Sometimes Nick does stream horror movies with his friends over voice chat, but that's more a private thing. They make commentary or shriek sometimes when a sudden jump scare catches them by surprise.
While Nick isn't a big fan of horror, but he does have fun engaging with it with his friends. He finds that his friends make just about any fun, goofy, awkward, or even scary moment even better.
There are some kinds of horror that Nick absolutely refuses to watch though. Extreme body horror is way too much for him, on screen deaths of animals or kids are an absolute NO, and he can't stand sexual violence.
Nick can't stand movies with bad sex in general, particularly those with toxic misinformed ideas of what BDSM looks like, but that's a different kind of horror.
When seeing a horror movie with a date, Nick will try to play it cool. If the horror movie isn't too extreme, he'll be able to make it through the film with a smile, if perhaps a shaky one. If it's really intense though, he won't be able to stop a yelp from escaping him, or the need to cling onto his partner.
Naturally, Nick will try to play it off, maybe turn it into an excuse to flirt if he's feeling confident, but he'd mostly get flustered about his reaction and start feeling shy.
Being comforted by his partner during an intense horror movie would send Nick's heart racing. Sure he'd still squeal at times, and he'd blush about being so clingy, but it'd be a fun experience overall.
Naturally, Nick would have to repay the favor by being the one his partner clings to while squealing in bed afterwards.
Bonus Round
I know the ask was just about the SDJ boys and Bo, but since Elias is also a part of Sunshine in Hell's continuity, I'm going to throw him in here as well along with Coraline. Oh, and maybe I'll toss in Barry too while I'm at it.
Elias died before motion pictures were a thing. Being isolated in his mansion after his death, he is ignorant of modern technology in general. As such he never got to experience a horror movie until Coraline entered his life.
As I've mentioned in the past, Coraline is a huge fan of ghosts, the occult, and all things spooky and supernatural. She loves horror movies, novels, comics, and all other sorts of media. She hasn't had too many chances to hang out with Shaun, but they vibe really well. Sometimes he treats her like his little sister.
Naturally Coraline wants to share her interests with her groom-to-be, so watching a horror movie together is a must.
Unfortunately for poor Elias, the experience is way more intense than he expected, and he winds up clinging to his bride the entire time. It's kind of comical how much a horror movie can scare a ghost.
Coraline doesn't mind though as long as Elias wants to keep watching the movie with her. He's determined to see it through to the end, since his beloved enjoys it so much, and she's clearly very happy to share the experience with him.
Coraline also enjoys having a giant ghostly beefcake wrapped around her body the entire time, whimpering so cutely in her ear. It makes her want to watch even more scary movies with him.
Is that bad? Does it count as bullying? But Elias is so cute, and he insists he wants to keep watching... So it's probably okay that she's enjoying making him squirm.
Although Coraline has a very high tolerance for horror, she does try to be mindful of Elias' delicate sensibilities. She's been desensitized to scary things though, so sometimes she doesn't notice something is too much for others to handle until she sees them freaking out over it. It's a bit of a learning curve for the both of them.
As for Barry's opinion of horror movies... He's not much of a fan. He'd rather spend his evenings in a bubble bath, sipping wine, and binge watching a season of The Duchess Approves or some similarly scandalous and gripping drama series.
If Barry was pressured to watch a horror movie, he'd be a big weenie about it. He'd be the type to shriek during a sudden jump scare, but deny up and down ever doing it. He especially didn't reach such a high pitch that he could be mistaken for a small child! The audacity of such an accusation! He's a full grown man, thank you very much.
Barry can handle his horror movies just fine, he'll have you know. He just doesn't think they're any good, that's all. It's all full of poor writing and clichés. He'll stick with his dramas, and not because he's scared!
Hey, who uploaded that video of him screaming and throwing his entire popcorn tub onto his head?! The culprit better not have been one of his employees, or they're going to be working overtime for a month if they don't take the video down right this minute!
I think I'll wrap up this post on that silly note. I hope you enjoyed this post about all the different ways the characters engage with horror movies and the horror genre in general.

i know looking at ig interactions is kinda childish⊠but casey and the vr46 academy really do feel like family! adriana has always stayed far from the motogp wags circle, but she and marta followed each other, so maybe the luca family and caseyâs family had some interactions around the time lucaâs daughter was born. vale even likes adrianaâs family posts! he doesnât even follow her, so i donât know if he searched for it on purpose or if ig recommended it to him⊠not to mention caseyâs support for the academy boys, especially now that we have matteoâcaseyâs former crew chiefâs son in the academy.
and casey is also quietly keeping up with valeâs family life. they must have so many private conversations, and being two girl dads together is such a sweet thing. also valeâs races, casey saw him on the podium in bathurst. this man is still racing everywhere at 45+. i wonder what casey thinks about that. he really deserved to be invited to bathurst and into the wrt garage by vale.
oh that's v sweet!! i'm gonna be honest,, not only have we established by now i do not use instagram but... i am so out of gossip circles i had to google who 'marta' is. this isn't even gossip and i probably could have gotten that from context, but i do just think i'm prone to pretending athletes don't exist outside of the confines of their sport. i do enjoy the instagram insights though whenever they are sent to me!
luca got the kid around the time of phillip island, didn't he? i mean casey disappeared of the face of the planet for that last year so who knows.... he clearly extremely doesn't fw motogp at the moment but that's neither here nor there. valentino liking stoner family posts is v cute... and i will say!! this whole situation 2 me elevates casey up a tier in terms of post-feud warmth in valentino rivalries. i mean it helps that all of valentino's other rivals... actually nvm apparently some of them do have children. well see!!
casey feelings about valentino stilllllllllllll racing mmm (2009/2018/2018/2021)
the other thing he increasingly did when valentino was in motogp was mope about valentino still racing despite not winning where it's like. wow i think this actually does bother you?? that it made valentino look more BEATABLE which is FASCINATING coming from casey. you kinda get the post 2012 transition from schadenfreude whenever valentino's doing poorly to Casey The Fan increasingly going
but beyond that i imagine he has like. very weird knotty uncomfortable feelings about it because it's very much... he was supposed to be the young challenger and he left so early and valentino stayed so long... and casey always hated that life and valentino loves it so much he just cannot give it up... and in a way that is how casey would WANT to feel about racing but just never could... ugh. ugh!! nyhgh
the crew chief connection super precious to me like... gabarrini being somebody casey has actually described as 'a friend' (real praise coming from him) who has now worked for pecco his entire premier class career... and now has a son in the academy... you're right, there is a nice sense that casey has kept up with goings on of his italian brethren in recent years. like the private conversations thing, we do have at least a lil confirmation of that from 2022
often. OFTEN. obviously i have no clue what valentino rossi thinks is often but. still! i do low key find this a fascinating dynamic because,, and i know i'm a bit of a broken record on this,, it is very funny to look at what casey has been saying about valentino in interviews at the same time as he's 'often' messaging him and asking about his daughter. like i don't actually think i have a professional athlete-sized ego but i'm not entirely sure i'd be?? that chummy?? with someone who was saying the kinds of things about me that casey has been saying about valentino. i am also not convinced i would be inviting them to my home. like i don't want to say i am more prone to hold grudges than 'valentino rossi' and 'casey stoner' but i do actually think it'd be completely legitimate for BOTH of them to still despise the other tbh
but they've always been kinda like this and i really do believe they reached this beautiful point in their relationship where they've so thoroughly insulted each other that there's nothing they can actually say that would permanently burn that bridge. casey no longer talks to long time ally and team boss for almost all his time in motogp livio suppo because he was not able to ride at cota 2015, but still checks in with how valentino's family is doing. i do strongly feel like this just isn't a rivalry you'll get unless you watch at least a decent proportion of the relevant seasons (i mean low key i feel that way about all rivalries but i do not wish to gatekeep anything but MY oddly niche rivalry) - partly because it just gives you such a charming vibes mismatch. what these two say to each other has never really fit how the two of them act around each other. and then when you study the sum totality of 'reporting from the time', 'everything casey's said since 2013' and 'the evidence of your own eyes', it's great because it's just like. wow you guys are both freaks, god bless. i'm glad you are still able to beam like that at your rival who you called a lying hoe two minutes ago. good for you
so really,, casey keeping up with valentino's entire family and accepting ranch invites while continuing to semi-regularly badmouth valentino in the press is just. very much in the spirit of their whole rivalry. as is valentino's low key impressive ability to just completely shrug all of that off and never feel the need to respond to some of the more spurious accusations casey makes. never change idk
#the only motogp rider's partner's name i know is pecco's. but i also don't massively care about her i do however fancy pecco's sister#retired riders included i obviously know the name of casey's wife. i thought vale's partner's name was similar to pecco's partners name#but upon googling it is extremely not. i mean i guess the keys 'd' and 'f' are next to each other#the only athlete couple i have strong feelings about are dasha and her girlfriend because i also watch their vlog and i am pro lesbians#also meddy and his wife i have some slight parasocial inclinations towards like they do move me#oh ALSO agassi/graf i have some feelings about like how they found their happy ending in each other#and that concludes the wag deep dive section of this blog. thanks everyone for coming with me on this journey#batsplat responds#//#brr brr#//ht#i do obvs still have a bunch of social media analytic deep dive asks that i feel quite bad for not posting..........#they are very interesting and have jangled aorund in my head a lot#unfortunately i have kinda gone off the whole motogp tumblr blogging gig currently and have also been. pretty fucking ill#i do feel bad about all the interesting asks though#put it like this - your chances of getting a response within 72 hours radically go up if the word 'casey' is mentioned somewhere

Literally every character in dungeon meshi gets mischaracterized and whatever whatever it happens itâs inevitable Iâll move on. Itâs just really sad to see the way Mithrun is sometimes portrayed cause heâs such a cool character!!
Heâs not naive. Heâs not gullible. Heâs not ignorant of how to do things. Heâs not confused all the time. He understands social cues. He doesnât take things literally, or just at face value. He still understands humor and sarcasm. Heâs not forgetful. He has an impeccable memory. He doesnât have shame. Heâs incapable of being hypnotizedâ when Cithis tried to kiss him or told him to eat out of a dog bowl, he was fully capable of saying no, and just saw no reason to. Heâs stubborn (heâs a taurus <3). He used to secretly be a Huge Asshole and thought poorly of those around him (this is one of my favorite aspects about him) but he was really just insecure and struggled with jealousy. Heâs now outwardly an asshole because heâs blunt and no longer has the ability to care if it hurts peopleâs feelings. It matters to him that other people donât fall victim to the demon. Heâs thoughtful.

Heâs strong!!!! Heâs smart and analytical. He became the captain of the canaries after his recovery. The thing that motivated him to recover was because all be wanted was to rejoin the canaries. When he met the demon, his deepest desire was to live a life where he never joined the canaries to begin with. He didnât even want that much, and thatâs why the demonâs appetite wasnât satisfied. The demon intentionally left him with the desire for revenge so that he would have a reason to come back, fresh with new desires. He wants to make noodles. He wants to make noodles!
#i wrote this earlier today and tumblr glitched and it was lost to the void rip#overall heâs a lot more Aware of whatâs going on around him than a lot of people give him credit for#i do like kabru mithrun but boy howdy is it hard to find content about them that doesnt do them dirty#but like i said at the beginning every character (and ship) in this fandom is done dirty hfhshdh#mithrun#dungeon meshi spoilers#dungeon meshi

Hi Elysian! Can you share with me what placements indicate preference or tendency for isolation/ being by themselves regardless of it being a good or bad thing?
Thankyou so much!
Hello love! Of course I can.Â
Preference/tendency for isolation
Although I considered many things into account for this particular topic, I focused mostly in three factors: the Moon, Saturn and 12th house. The Moon shows comfort and needs that we have, Saturn can give us independent overtones and, together with the 12th house, it usually speaks to us about isolation.
đ€Stellium in the 12th house. This house is par excellence the house of solitude and isolation. People with a stellium in this house often prefer to do things alone and spend their time on their own. Their isolation usually occurs for various reasons, from the search for deeper and more meaningful things, their need to recharge after a lot of contact with others, their sensitivity to their environments and even their rich internal world, in which they feel comfortable and safe.
đ€People with a Stellium in the 1st house have a high focus on self-discovery and everything related to knowing themselves better. They are highly independent people who rely on themselves in many areas of their life, which makes them reject the idea of ââbecoming too attached to others or depending on them.
đ€When someone has a Stellium in the 8th house, they usually have a strong need for privacy. They are people with a strong tendency toward introspection and who prefer to be on their own when they go through profound changes or when there is internal tension within them. They experience intense emotions and changes through their lives, which may cause them to withdraw from the external world to focus on their healing, growth, or reconstruction.
đ€Saturn in the 7th, 8th or 12th house shows us people with strong introverted tendencies and people who, in general, since they are children, face long periods of loneliness, either due to preference or because of experiences our of their control. They are people who have a tense relationship with loneliness, because although they seek it to feel safe as it is something familiar to them, there is also the fear of always being alone.
đ€Moon in the 1st or 6th house have a strong need for "me-time" either because their activities are rather calm and/or do not require others to do them, or simply because they genuinely enjoy the idea of ââisolating themselves to take care of themselves by pampering themselves. They enjoy spending time with themselves, watching their favorite show, doing their hobbies or resting from the stress of everyday life.
đ€Moon in the 8th house or 12th house. They are people with deep emotions who would rather be alone than spend their time and energy on people who genuinely don't care about them or really know them. They look for emotional connections that are deep, that feel meaningful, which makes them selective about who they want to spend their time with.
đ€People with Virgo Moon tend to be very analytical about their emotions, so they need moments of solitude to reflect, organize their thoughts and regain emotional balance. Some of them may have been judged for their emotions or way of expressing themselves, which leads them to find security in solitude.
đ€Moon in Sagittarius. Contrary to what is said, I have seen that they are people with a strong need for introspection. They like their independence and choose to do activities that reconnect with themselves or hobbies that allow them to be on their own. These people also prioritize their pursuit of happiness, which makes them reject spending time with people who only bring negative things into their lives [criticism, toxicity or unnecessary tension].
đ€Those with Saturn in water signs are natives who usually choose to be on their own, often as a defense mechanism so as not to get hurt or betrayed. Likewise, they require time alone when it comes to managing their emotions, healing or dealing with their daily tensions.Â
đ€Aries placements. I have seen it in many people around me with stelliums in Aries or with Aries in the big three. They are people who don't mind spending time with themselves and usually prefer it to save themselves the headaches or inconvenience of having to interact with people who have traits that bother them. They are individualistic and independent people and have no problem with being on their own and managing their things privately.
đ€Aquarius placements. They are people who know how to be with others but at the end of the day they need to be on their own, either to release stress or just to be able to carry out their plans or do what they want. Loneliness does not bother them and they need a lot of time alone to feel happy. I have seen this mostly in Aquarius Moons, Mercuries and Risings.Â
đ€Pisces placements. They are people who can easily become overwhelmed when they are with others for a long time, which leads them to feel better when they isolate themselves. They recharge their batteries, introspect or simply rest. There is a strong need to know themselves at a deeper level, which they can get to do during their time with themselves.
đ€Chiron in air signs [Gemini, Libra or Aquarius] are common placements for people who are introverted and prefer to be alone rather than opening up to meet people. This tendency comes from the feeling of not having been heard or understood by people, so as a defense mechanism some of them usually choose to isolate themselves.
đ€Ruler of the 1st house in the 12th house or vice versa shows us natives who seek solitude, from getting to know themselves better or exploring themselves, to recharging their batteries. They are people who throughout their lives experience periods of loneliness and learn to find comfort in this. They can use their loneliness as a way to be themselves without fear or shame.
đ€Ruler of the 4th house in the 12th house or vice versa can be a great indicator as well, since the 4th house also gives us a clue about what gives us comfort or what we feel emotionally safe with, that its ruler falls in the 12th house. It speaks of the possibility of finding peace or emotional well-being in solitude. Natives with this overlay can feel safe when they are on their own.
đ€Ruler of the 7th house in the 12th house or vice versa shows us people who feel that they do not fit in with anyone and, in order not to drain their energy, to not be hurt or to avoid disappointment, they usually choose to be on their own. They are people who feel that it is better to be alone than in bad company.Â
đ€Ruler of the 11th house in the 12th house of vice versa indicates a person who prefers solitude or very small circles of friends. They are people who find happiness in their solitude, because they can do their hobbies and dedicate more time to themselves. They don't like trying to fit in where they know they aren't comfortable in the first place.
đ€Any air house [3rd, 7th or 11th] ruler in the 8th house or vice versa. These people are very protective of themselves and are very focused on knowing themselves very well, spending a lot of time with themselves. They don't like wasting time with people they genuinely don't want to be with or people who aren't what they want.

â§Ë àŒ Falling asleep next to him ft. Tsukishima Kei
âąfluff, alcohol consumption (reader is tipsy), written this with post-timeskip Tsukki in mind, your honor they're idiots in love, they want each other bad. anyway, self indulgent short drabble

Tsukishima thinks his heart is going to explode from how close you are to him. The room is silent and you're haf-asleep in his bed, wearing his t-shirt, smelling of his shower products and he almost doesn't mind the sweet, lingering trace of alcohol on your breath.
When you invited him and Yamaguchi to a party that night to celebrate the end of exam season he initially wanted to refuse, but the thought of you going only with his friend, getting hit on by random guys at the club didn't sit right with him. So he tagged along and watched you dance and chat up whoever was willing to spare you the time of day. To say he was irritated would be an understatement but Tsukishima knew better than to comment on your behavior; he knew how easily you sulked and pouted until you got your way. And you always ended up getting your way with himâ he liked you that much, though he never found the words to tell you. He had to basically drag you home that night, helping you take off your makeup while you sat on the edge of the bathtub, complaining about your headache. It was Yamaguchi's idea to let you stay the night at their flat considering the state you were in. Tsukishima wanted to point out that you weren't in fact that drunk, just tipsy, but he held his tongue. He couldn't waste an opportunity to keep you by his side just for a little longer. So after you showered and joined him in bed, he was finally faced with the reality of it all.
You're here, pressed up against him, your nose nudging against his jaw as you shift around, trying to find a more comfortable position. He feels warm, too warm, his palms sweaty as he adjusts, rolling on his side to give you more space. His hand comes up to your waist to prevent you from completely rolling over him and the little breathy hum you let out at the touch is a low blow. Tsukishima has always been analytical, trying to make sense of the world through logic and his sharp mind almost never failed him. But what can he do when his brain is basically mush, heart thumping so fast he's afraid you'll hear it if you lay your head on his chest? He tells himself to go to sleep, just close his eyes, take a deep breath and calm down but he can'tâ not when you're so close and fit so well against him.
And then you speak, a breathy, barely audible whisper of his name and his resolve crumbles. "Yea?" he says back, pressing his forehead against yours, thumb rubbing circles on your hip.
"d'you have some water? My throat feels dry."
He nods as you cough, slipping out of bed and heading to the kitchen to bring you a glass of water. By the time he returns you're already propped on your arm and he can see you blinking slowly in the soft moonlight.
"Here you go. Drink up." he mumbles, fingers brushing against yours when you take the glass and bring it to your lips, emptying it in a few greedy gulps. "Jesus... slow down, it's all yours." You give him a glare and set the glass down as he joins you under the blanket again.
"I was thirsty ok? Plus my head hurts so bad. Can't you give me some paracetamol?"
"Not when you've still got alcohol in your system, dummy. I'll give you one in the morning." he huffs, slipping his hands into your hair to massage your scalp before you get to complain more.
Kei's thumbs rub against your temples, soothing the dull ache and you finally relax, your protests melting on your tongue as you close your eyes again. "There, better?" he whispers and you nod, cuddling up against his chest. "Yea, thanks Tsukki. You're a saviour."
"A saviour, really?" he teases and you chuckle.
"You know what I mean."
And Tsukishima knowsâ at least he hopes he does. Hopes that behind that little sleepy smile and content expression of yours lays a feeling akin to his. But he pushes down those thoughts, leaving them for tomorrow because he's finally starting to fall asleep and as his breath settles and his eyes flutter shut, Tsukishima promises himself that one day he'll get you to sleep by his side every night.

Out of reach
Pairing: earlyseasons!Spencer Reid x hotchner!fem!reader Summary: You pull away from Spencer because of your jealousy. You go back to him after a few drinks in. WC: 9k A/N: fluff! pining! idiots/friends to lovers! alcohol consumption; spencer is a bit mean; reader doesn't communicate; hotch is a little older to have a daughter around spencer's age (do not come at me this is fiction). If I missed anything, please let me know! I had so much fun writing this one and it's now one of my favorites <3 masterlist
The jet was quiet as you and the BAU team made your way back from Los Angeles after successfully finding Lila Archer's stalker. The case had been a bit draining, after all, you've only been working with the FBI for a couple of months, and seeing dead bodies and all those other displays of violence was something you were still trying to get used to. Despite your sensitive nature, being Aaron Hotchner's daughter meant that you had mastered the art of a poker face through the years, not that it meant that your inner feelings were any less important. This is how you found yourself sitting all alone in a corner of the jet as everyone minded their own business. On any other day, you'd be sitting next to Dr. Spencer Reid, talking about whatever it was that could get your mind off the case you had just wrapped up. Spencer and you were friends, some would even say the best of friends, but you didn't mind about naming things â what mattered the most is that you got to be yourself around him and you didn't bother hiding behind the Hotchner glare, as he once put it.
Despite being unknown territory for you, after all, feelings and all that were protected by a deeply analytic and practical mind, you knew what you were feeling. Well, you were analyzing your reactions to check what had actually happened â and the thing is, you couldn't admit, not even to yourself, what that sinking feeling in your chest when you watched Spencer saying goodbye to Lila was. Amid your analysis, Spencer quietly approached you, silently motioning to the seat next to you. You nodded, shutting every single thought of him. Or at least, trying.
"Hi."
Hotch glare. "Hi, Reid."
Spencer felt nervous. He had never been on the receiving end of your⊠wrath before, so it was unknown territory and he didn't know how to act. His racing heart and clammy palms weren't helping him, either. Taking a deep breath, he said, "Listen, um, you... can... can we talk?" The stammering. Way to go, Spencer.
Glancing at him, ignoring the skip in your heartbeat, you nodded. "Yeah. Is everything alright?" A firm, secure tone. You mentally patted yourself on the back.
"You're a little distant... andâand I got a bit worried. Did... Did something happen?" He wanted to kick himself. What kind of person can't hold a serious conversation without stuttering like an idiot? Get a grip, Reid.
"No, Reid. Everything is alright. I'm just... thinking." You said.
Bullshit. You both knew that. Spencer, on the other hand, didn't know why it was bullshit. But he knew it was.
"Are you sure?" He asked, leaning towards you, almost invading your personal space and he shut his eyes before delivering the next question, "Is... I haven't done anything to upset you? Right?"
You took a second to answer him, willing your voice to stay still and the knot in your throat to go away. "No. It's nothing you've done. It's just... it's on me." You gave him a small smile that didnât quite reach your eyes â that's when he knew something was definitely wrong.
He nodded, but he was still worried by your sudden change of behavior, especially towards him. It was like he was anyone else, again. And, God, he didn't want that. "What is it, then? You can talk to me, you know. We're best friends."
Best friends.
The words felt bitter on his tongue. The sound of them broke your heart all over again.
Best friends. "Right. Yeah. I know." You said, quietly, and it felt a little lifeless to him. He clenched his hand, fighting the urge to touch you, to ask you what was truly bothering you. "Thanks for offering."
Spencer felt conflicted. If he didn't say anything and didn't push you to speak, you would probably bury whatever it was that you were feeling and it would lead him into being even more worried about you. If he did, you would probably snap at him because of his undesired, bothersome insistence. "It's nothing." He said, defeatedly. "Can you just... Do you promise it's not me?"
Your heart ached and you smiled at him, a tiny, faint, barely there smile. He was so adorable, sometimes. "I'm just upset over something else. Donât worry. You didn't do anything wrong." You finished, trying to convince yourself that he had not, indeed, done something wrong.
And he didn't. He didn't. You and Spencer, despite your proximity and sometimes incredibly ambiguous relationship, hadn't said anything about deeper feelings towards one another. You let yourself admire him, lovingly, from afar, and were happy with the snippets of attention you had from him when you two had some free time. You two were regulars in the coffee shop near his apartment and, by now, the local librarian, Mrs. Jones, could probably fake your signature from how often you two went there to borrow books. She would watch you two behind the bookshelves, whispering excitedly and curiously to each other about whatever suggestions you were getting from each other. As you missed Spencer's longing glances to read a summary, Mrs. Jones smiled to herself, both at how adorable you two were and how oblivious you were. In museums, you would sit down after some time walking around to his explanations of art and historical movements that impacted the expression of a certain age â you pretended to not know a few things, just so he could speak his heart away and not be interrupted by your own contributions.
You kept silent to make him happy.
Which was exactly what was happening now.
Spencer knew, for sure, that you were hiding something from him. But he also knew that he had no right to force it out. He fidgeted awkwardly, not knowing what to do with his hands, his heart still clenching. âBut, but... youâd come to me if you needed help, right?â
You nodded, unable to speak. You knew you were wrong, omitting things from him. Just as the guilt was starting to weigh in your heart, Derek passed by you two with a magazine in his hands, throwing it at Spencer, exclaiming, "My man!"
You looked down, already knowing what it was. Spencer was a mess beside you: blushing, stuttering, avoiding your and Derek's gaze and throwing the magazine as far as he could, like it had burned him. Your reaction was a subtle twitch of your lips, not in amusement, but in need to disguise the pang in your heart. You both spent the rest of the flight sitting in silence, simply being in each other's orbit. You, guiltily. Spencer, worriedly.
Your reaction â or lack of â was staggering to Spencer. He thought you two were getting somewhere, despite your closed off nature and demeanor, he thought he was finally cracking you up. Everyday was torture, seeing you walk through the bullpen's glass doors with your professional clothes and your composed figure. It was torture to see you walk around so prettily and serious, holding his bare heart in your hands, and not even realizing it. By now, he lived and thrived on those rare opportunities you had to spend time together as he became more and more covered in you.
As the jet landed and Spencer walked out to talk to Derek, you pettily made sure to step on Lila Archer's face when leaving the jet in sheer frustration.
Back to the bullpen, you had gone to the restroom to splash some water on your face in order to calm your nerves and to tell yourself that it was only a matter of time until things got back to normal â until you got back to normal. Glancing at your reflection in the mirror, you wondered if Spencer could tell that there was something wrong with you, if you had let any of your feelings slip during your short conversation. The version of you that stared back was as impassible as you ever were. As you made your way to your desk in the dimly lit sea of desks, you caught Spencer and Derek talking, both having their backs to you.
Sighing, you just left the headquarters, not wanting to know what they were discussing, or rather, knowing what they were discussing, but unwilling to stay, even if it would quench your curiosity as to what Spencer had been thinking.
Maybe you didn't want to know the answer.
â
The days went by, cases coming left and right, flights making you almost dizzy â not that you would admit, but you were terrified of heights. Between those and your training, you barely had time to think about Spencer and the entire Lila occasion. You spent your days busy with work, studies and physical training in order to keep your mind away from that, but as you lay awake at night, the memories would come back to haunt you relentlessly to the point you had recurring dreams of them. Together, as you watched from the sidelines. You kept to yourself, slipping further and further away from Spencer.
Reid, on the other hand, felt your absence more than anyone. You took a rain check on all the invitations he made, even when he invited you to movie night, when he would definitely choose a Russian movie because you mentioned once how you liked how the language sounds. There wasn't any more donuts on his desk as he arrived in the morning (he would always joke that you and your father secretly lived in the headquarters and that someday he would see Haley bringing your groceries to the secret house), and there was no one for him to throw his paper airplanes, small flashcards with the Russian phonological alphabet, at. The change in your behavior was absurdly clear to everyone: you barely called or texted him anymore, you didn't look his way when someone told a joke to check if he thought it was funny... He was sulking, to say the least. Upon questioning you, you blamed your lack of free time and as he was going to question you further, you said in a teasing tone that not everyone was like him and that the FBI was actually making you go through all the training phases.
Finally, during the end of a particularly frustrating workday, he finally snapped, grabbing your arm before you could enter the elevator. It was only you and him in the otherwise empty hallway. "Ok. What's been going on? And don't," he said, closing his eyes, "don't dance around the subject. Don't say it's the Academy. Don't say you have to work. Don't. Please, be honest with me."
The exasperation in his eyes and in his tone almost broke the wall that hid your true feelings, but as you glanced at him, you figured you couldn't do it. Be honest? What for? To hear that you're nothing more than his best friend? Losing said friend was not an option, not to you, at least. But you also knew that you weren't treating him right, that keeping him out was not at all fair to him, that leaving him in the dark was as hurtful as it would be to lose him.
Breathing deeply, you answered with the same stoic expression you wore every single damn day. "I told you, Reid. People go through different, busier times in their lives." The lie tasted like acid.
Spencer clenched his teeth, frustration and confusion beginning to override some of his social anxieties. âThat! That!â He asked through clenched teeth, his gaze intense.
"That what?" You asked, puzzled.
"You... you stopped calling me 'Spence'ânot that you did it often, you did it more when we were all alone, and it... it sucks! It sucks because I don't know what happened or what I did that was so wrong to make you stop liking me!"
Come on, just say something! Get angry, get sad, get something!, his mind screamed.
"I never stopped liking you," you said, looking away from him. His words hit a particular spot that you were totally willing to discover later, but the mere thought that he knew that you liked him more than as a friend made you shiver.
"That's not the point! Orâor rather, it is! Because if you didn't stop liking me, why would you act like you did?" He asked, his tone rising a bit.
"Calm down."
"Calm down? I will not calm down!" He almost yelled. His eyes widened slightly, disbelief clear in his features and tone, not to mention the frustration. "Just. Please.â He said, closing his eyes, willing himself to tone it down, not that it worked... âTell me what you're thinking, what happened to you! For once! Any normal person would react and stop acting like an emotionless robot!"
You gaped like a fish out of water, taking a small step back, his words digging a hole in your heart. Upon hearing his own words and noticing you distancing yourself from him, all the anger vanished from his body. The widened eyes were a sign of realization of what he had said to you. During the early months of friendship, you had confided in him that you struggled with portraying emotion like others normally did. Maybe it had something to do with growing up with a father who did it so perfectly when he was out of the house. When he wasn't actively playing the âdadâ part, Aaron Hotchner would wear an unreadable mask like it was his armor, his defense from the outer world, but as soon as he got home, he was back to his main role. You would watch him with his coworkers and mimic him perfectly to make him laugh. At some point, making fun of and imitating his demeanor had become some serious form of self-defense for you. Spencer, then, joked that you were making your way to the perfect job, but then he had gotten serious and told you that it wasn't a flaw. That it wasn't a problem that you kept deeply to yourself sometimes â that it was okay to be yourself around him. You had felt safe by his side since then.
But now, what did those words mean? Were they lies?
He breathed out your name, softly, "I... I... I'm sorry."
"Just drop it," you replied, pushing the elevator button. Your dismissive tone and your action of leaving made Spencer feel utterly desolate, like he had done the wrongest thing in the world and perhaps he had, but he just wanted you to let him in. For once, he wanted to have the answers from your lips, not spend any more time analyzing your every single action and words...
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
"You know, SpencerâŠ" he looked up at you when he heard his name, as you held out an arm to hold the elevator doors open. As if thinking better than to say anything, you sighed and turned to enter the elevator, shaking your head with the most disappointed look he had ever seen on your face.
Spencer tried looking at you one last time before the elevator doors closed, and despite your face being as unreadable as it often was, he saw a flicker of sadness that stung his heart more than he liked to admit. If he hadn't done anything wrong before, now he had utterly fucked everything up.
â
The drive home, for Spencer, was a torture. He knew that he had to pay attention to the road ahead of him, to the other vehicles and drivers, but his mind kept drifting to the last glimpse of you back in the headquarters. Your empty eyes appeared behind his eyelids every time he pressed his eyes closed. He willed himself not to cry, to not blur his vision, taking his frustration out on the steering wheel, where his grip was so tight that his knuckles turned white. As he parked his car and looked up to one of his windows, he remembered you. Because of course he would remember you.
The sight was almost comical, to be honest. You, clad in one of the suits that fitted you so well, sitting on his windowsill, a cup of green tea in hands as you stared out the window, trying to analyze every single drop of rain before it reached somewhere outside your vision range. The funny thing was that you had no shoes on, instead, Spencer lent you a mismatched pair, not being one used to having people over, he didn't have a pair of spare slippers. Then, you sat there with a dinosaur-pattern sock on one foot and a striped-pattern sock on the other.
Spencer, sitting on his sofa and holding his own cup (he had let you choose your mug and stayed quiet when you pointed quietly at his favorite), smiled to himself. It was weirdly calming seeing you out of your character, doing something so... human.
"I can feel you staring, you know," you said. And your tone was almost... teasing?
"Right. Sorry." He said, looking down at his steaming tea.
"I'm not scolding you," you said, turning to look at his direction with a grin.
"Right, noâheh..." he replied, bashfully, cheeks reddening at the sight of your smile.
If only you knew... how many hours he would lay awake at night, as thoughts swirled in his head, how everything seemed to shut down at the thought of you. How he would fall asleep to the wish of being on the receiving end of one of your rare smiles, how he appreciated that you were always the first one he talked to upon his arrival at the headquarters. How... how he would do anything for you to look at him under a different light.
Seemingly out of nowhere, you giggled. Everything stopped.
Spencer.exe has stopped working.
"HehehâI guess... It's not everyday you get to see a Hotchner so out of itsâhehehâhabitat." You quipped, looking at him with a smile on your face.
Suddenly, Spencer lost his voice. The connection between his brain and his tongue, which felt heavy, disappeared. Completely speechless, eyes slightly wide at the sound of your laughter. It made you laugh a bit more, but when his stare and open mouth got too much to handle, you looked down at your feet, wiggling your toes to distract yourself from the intensity of his gaze full of awe. Then, Spencer got back to his senses, smiling at you as you missed it to look away in embarrassment.
Spencer blinked away the tears and left his car, entering his apartment. As he took off his shoes, he let the tears fall at the sight of your windowsill.
â
Meanwhile, you were getting wasted at some bar. Not just any bar, but the one you usually went with Spencer when you were feeling daring and wanted a change from the places where you both used to go to. You were a bit of a lightweight, so a couple of drinks were enough for you to start playing trivia with Spencer and let your gaze linger for longer, basking in the sight of him so carefree, having fun with you.
Upon your arrival, the bartender that usually took care of your orders, MJ, greeted you with a smile. When she saw no one was joining you, she frowned. "Good evening, Hotch. Where's loverboy?"
You sent her a look, but since you were letting your guard down, after all, there were no acquaintances or friends around, you didn't know if the look came out as a glare or if you looked like a kicked puppy. She snorted. "Gee... That bad, huh?" She asked, and you didn't answer again, though you muttered a soft thanks, MJ when she gave you your go-to drink.
And it turned into two drinks. Three. Four...
(MJ was now giving you alcohol-free drinks, too worried for your well-being. You and Spencer started to grow on her as you two kept coming back.)
You rested your chin on your left hand while you traced patterns with your right index finger on the counter. MJ was eyeing you suspiciously, drying a few glasses with a washcloth. "He kissed another girl." You admitted, quietly.
"No way." She gasped.
"Way."
"But... I thought you two were a thing." MJ was baffled, placing down the objects she was holding in sheer shock. "I always thought you two were like... together for years."
"We were a thing.... I think, at least... I don't know, MJ." You sighed, tucking a stray of hair behind your ear. Looking up at her, hazy eyes taking in her focused expression, you sniffled, "we were on this case and then he met a girl and then the next moment the two of them were making out in a pool. In a freaking pool."
She tsked, anger flashing in her eyes, "I swear, those nerdy guys are the worst."
"Yeah..." You muttered, fiddling with your straw. "Can I have another one?"
She pursed her lips, but she relented. Then, as she handed you the liquid, a guy sat next to you. Did he look like Spencer or were you already hallucinating?
"Hi. I'm Dave. Can I buy you a drink...?" He asked with a small smile, wanting to know your name.
No, not Spencer. Itâs cool.
"Hi, I..."
MJ cut you off. "Hey, Dave, I think she had too much to drink already."
They exchanged looks and it took you a minute to feel offended by her interruption and knowing you were perfectly capable of speaking for yourself, but realizing you would probably have to entertain a stranger, you felt grateful for it.
Dave left with a sour smile. "Thanks." You muttered, again, looking at MJ.
"Do you need me to get you a cab, honey?"
"That would be great." You said, placing money bills to pay for your drinks and the tip.
MJ looked around to spot someone to keep an eye on the bar as she led you out of the place, hand never leaving your shoulder. As she called a cab, she made you stand on only one leg to make sure you weren't gonna need her to go with you. You scoffed, but obeyed her all the same, with a low snicker. As you two waited for the cab driver, a woman who MJ trusted with her life (and her favorite regulars), you tried to make conversation to make up for embarrassing yourself by talking about Spencer with someone. How pathetic.
"So, what does MJ stand for?"
She chuckled, shaking her head at you and at your dazed eyes. "That's classified information."
"I'm familiar with that."
The cab driver, Paula, arrived. She greeted the both of you with a smile and a cheerful good evening! As you entered the vehicle, you rolled the windows down and pressed the subject further, "Seriously, is it Mary Jane or were your parents more creative?"
She rolled your eyes at you, shaking her head. "It's Mary Jane. MJ because who would take me seriously?"
You smiled. "I like the shoes!"
Paula started driving slowly, just to let other drivers drop their own passengers, as you were lost in your own little world, serious expression taking over your face again, not wavering, as you delved deeper into the whirlwind of thoughts plaguing your head. Paula, looking at you through the rear-view mirror, asked, "Is everything okay, honey?"
You buckled your seatbelt. "Yes, yes. Just... keep driving slowly, please."
"Where to?"
Only then you realized you never gave her an address. Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, you gave her Spencer's, telling her you were going home.
â
An unknown number had sent Spencer a couple of messages.
[8:32 p.m.] Lovergirl is here, drinking all by herself.
[8:32 p.m.] Water, but still. I'm not having her passed out without you here.
[8:40 p.m.] Sent her home, people were starting to approach.
Throughout the time he had spent with you at the bar, the two of you exchanged numbers with MJ in case she needed your help â you know, being FBI agents and whatnot. But Spencer didn't need to see her name to know it was her and she was talking about you; 'lovergirl' and 'passed out without you here' gave him clue enough. His stomach tied in knots when he read that people were starting to approach her, the nagging feeling that the image conjured in his mind was making him feel almost sick, then, it hit him like a truck: Lila Archer.
Their⊠case? was as fleeting as a careless glance. To be honest, Spencer accepted her advances to spite you for having such power over him, even if unknowingly so. The young agent felt like you were so out of his league, so out of reach â you were all that pile of confidence and stoicism and pure lusciousness and everything to him. And he was a young guy who truly had barely been kissed so far. How could he approach you, charm his way into your heart, especially when you barely bared it? With Lila, it was... nice. Easy, even. It was nice being wanted, to be able to read her intentions and desires like a children's book. With you, it was a tantalizing challenge, one he was, for the first time, struggling with. It was not like having a high-school crush, not like pining over the untouchable girls that would catch his interest as he grew older. No. This was something new. You had hit him deeper than ever or anyone before.
Plus, as much as he hated to admit it, he gave room to the anxious thoughts regarding your father as well. Would it affect his relationship with his superior? Would it affect your relationship with your father? Spencer felt dizzy just by the mere thought of ruining something uniquely yours. No, he couldn't impose himself on your life like that. It was mean, it was wrong, it was immoral.
To want, to desire, is to be selfish.
It was a bold assumption. To think you were jealous of him. Nevertheless, the signs were all there, had been all along. He was just dumb and scared enough of making assumptions.
A barely there, faint sound of a knock on his door made Spencer fly out of his bed, dropping his phone on the bedroom floor, but he didn't pick it up. He had a suspicion as to who could be knocking on his door, but he was too scared of assuming anything. Again. Opening the door, he saw you, breathing a bit heavily. The stairs, he supposed. You always complained about them. Once you exchanged looks, Spencerâs surprised one and your earnest one, you asked, "Do you really think I'm a robot?"
Shit. He could feel his heart breaking in a million little pieces. The insecure edge of your voice and words made him squeeze his eyes shut; in his mind, he was kicking himself simultaneously as he sank down to his knees, on your feet, begging you to forgive and forget his dumb, stupid, frustrated, unrealistic words.
"No," he breathed out, wincing, almost as if he was in physical pain. "IâI didn't mean to talk about you like that. I was..."
"Frustrated?"
He nodded, silently, eyes never leaving your face. Your speech, albeit way out of the ordinary that he was used to, was flawless. If not by the dilated pupils and the faint smell of alcohol, not to mention MJ's texts, he would dare to say you were perfectly sober. "I was, too." You admitted, looking down.
Spencer made way for you to enter his apartment. He watched as you kicked your shoes off. The sight, that had become as common as the act of breathing, made his way flutter. You intended on staying. Or so he hoped. You walked further into the place, noticing everything as it ever was, as if you hadn't been to his apartment for some time now. "You must be thinking why I'm here," you said, moving to sit on the couch and mentioning him to sit on the small coffee table in front of you, as if you owned the place, and not him.
Perhaps it was true.
He closed the door once you were inside, hesitating for a moment before joining you. He kept noticing things about you; the way you were walking, the way you could barely look him in the eye, the way you looked⊠âHow much did you have to drink?â He asked, quietly.
"Not much. You know I don't usually drink because I canât hold my drinks. And I'm sure MJ was giving me plain water at some point." You said, looking up at him. Well, at least, your speech flawlessly delivered, even though you were moving a bit more⊠disoriented than usual. She's totally a Hotchner.
"I... I am," he started, sitting in front of you carefully. "I... I'm sorry. It's just... You've never been so distant. I guess that I was mean to you to elicit some reaction."
Your analytical gaze softened upon his confession. You needed to give him some break, be a little easy on him. Well, easier than you were being as of lately. Nodding lightly, you added, "I'm here to apologize, too. I know... I know that I pushed you away and I made you think that... that that was your fault. It's not."
He froze. No, he wouldn't have you taking the blame for how his actions caused you to react. He looked up at you, reaching out a hand to touch your intertwined ones, "It is."
"Hear me out. Please." You said, lowly, not breaking eye contact. This was so hard, and you had never felt so afraid before. How ironic â to be afraid of being brave. "I... I guess that by now you know why I pulled away."
"I do," he admitted, nervously. "It took me some time, but I... I think I figured you out."
You looked down, embarrassed. It was overwhelming for him to see you portray such different and so many emotions all at once. To you, it was as agonizing as it was freeing. "Well, yes. So... It, um, it wasn't fair. We... we are not something. We are not a thing."
His heart, doing all the thinking and feeling, nearly stopped. As if it wasn't enough, you kept on going, "I'm sorry, I truly am, for how I behaved and how I made you feel by being absent. It's... it's not my place. You have your own life, Reid. I can't be upset with you for making decisions. You're a grown man..." you sighed, glancing at every direction but at him. "I know that I'm wrong, okay? And I know that I shouldn't have pushed you away, nor should I have kept my feelings from you."
Spencer drew in a long breath. He didn't know what to say, but you couldn't be more wrong. All at once, he wanted to scream, but he didn't know what ro say; he wanted to run, but he didn't want to leave you alone â not for a second. He didn't ever want you out of his sight; he didn't want to be the one you were apologizing to, hell, he wanted everything to be okay between them, but it was nice that she was talking to him, finally.
"I..."
Every time he thought he could say something, words failed him. Then, you took it as another opportunity to word-vomit everything you've been feeling. "I was... I was jealous. I didn't like to see that. I didn't like that it happened. But I also know that I have no right to be upset with you because you're single and she's attractive and you're both consenting and willing to do whatever you please, so..." You shrugged as if speaking those words aloud didn't stab new holes in your heart.
Spencer looked at you, totally speechless. It made you snicker. And speak further. Shut up, you idiot. Please, please, please! "And, ahâhahahahâI guess I am, indeed, a bit of a robot because it took me a bit of alcohol to pluck up the courage to come here and totallyâhicâdestroy our friendship by telling you I love you so much; that I'd hate to see you with anyone other than me. It happened and I hated it. It still stings."
Spencer's heart threatened to fail once again. Your giggles, your words, your confession... His mind completely short-circuited. She loved him. She loved him? She loved him?!?!???!!! Thatâs what sheâd just said, apparently. Okay, calm down. And sheâd been jealous. She didnât like him kissing another woman, because she fucking loved him. Say something, you dumb idiot, his brain shrieked. Say something!
You parted your lips to say something else, but apparently decided against it. Another beat of silence of Spencer staring dumbly at you. "I'm going," you blurted out, standing up.
Spencer, at breakneck speed, stood up as well to stop you from walking away, placing his hands tentatively on your shoulders. Your bodies were now apart by mere inches. "No." His voice was so small and pained that you sat back down.
Despite your apparent willingness, your next words told him about your turmoil. "Why would I stay, Spencer? I've been pouring my heart out to you and you haven't said a thing."
Looking at you, so bare and so vulnerable, Spencer suddenly had flashbacks from when he had lashed out on you earlier and simultaneously fought the feelings that were bubbling inside of him upon your confession. Couldn't you see the sheer shock on his face? Couldn't you see that he was battling against every single bit of self restraint not to pull you into his embrace and make you believe him when he would tell you that you were the only woman for him?
Sure, he had dreamed of you saying those words to him countless times as time went by and you two got closer. Shit, he literally dreamed of it. Of you. Speaking sweet nothings to him... He broke out of his daze, realizing that he was deadly silent, "Don't go..."
"Then say something. I'm here. Not as Hotch's daughter, not as your coworker, not as a part of the team you work with. I'm here as the woman in whose heart you've grown over the last few months. I'm terrified of your answer and you keep depriving me of it." There was a hint of annoyance and hurry on your voice, and he could understand you, he truly could. He just didn't... he lost his voice when he looked at you.
Saying your name softly, he beginned, âI said stupid, untrue things, and Iâm sorry. Iâm a jerk, and I know that Iâm a jerk andâ" You quirked your eyebrow and he took a deep breath, trying to cut his rant. "Just... don't sit there and think that I have nothing to say."
"Have you said it?" You pressed it, quirking an eyebrow.
"No." He admitted, widening his eyes a bit as he realized his mistake.
At the same time, you shot, "Not saying something is also an answer for meâ"
"âbut not for the reasons you're thinking! Do you know how hard it is for me right now?" Spencer was starting to sound very desperate and pathetic, not to mention the fact that he wasn't answering your questions.
Deep breaths (from both ends).
"Look, Reid..." He glared at you upon hearing his last name. "I think I should go home. You and I clearly need some spaceâ"
"What we need to do is talk."
You sighed. "Then why won't you give me an answer?"
Silence.
"You won't even remember this in the morning."
At that, you deemed yourself utterly defeated. This was useless. "I'm sorry I came over. I'm... I'll just go, okay? Please, don't be upset about tonight. I apologize in advance."
The sight of her, once more shying away from him and turning to escape from him, was making Spencer frustrated, with himself, to no end. His heart clenched at your apology, to which he shook his head vehemently. The thing is, he wanted to get ready to answer you, properly, just like he always had some trick up his sleeve or some funny or curious fact to blurt during the most random moments. Spencer was good at speaking, but only when the speech was already ingrained into his mind, something he had read or rehearsed before. Plus, he was sure your state of drunkenness would stop you from remembering that moment.
Spencer dashed to his door, barely stopping you. No, no, no, no, no... She can't leave. This might be my only chance. "You're not going anywhere."
"Excuse me?"
"Stay with me. I don't want you to go." He said, softly, slowly, looking straight into your eyes. It made you dizzy. Either that or the alcohol.
"No?"
"Y-you're drunk and I... I don't think it's safe for you to go by yourself and it's late and... and..." he trailed off, nervously, desperate to get you to stay.
"I'm not drunk."
"You're not fooling me. You might be as concise as ever but you're not sober. Stay."
"Promise... promise you won't be upset with me?"
His heart dropped, heavy with guilt. And with love for you. "I promise."
Spencer silently led you back to the couch, gingerly holding your hand. He felt dazzled, speechless, desperate, frustrated, all at once. But your touch was starting to ground him back to reality, where you were real, having confessed your feelings for him, and he was a mess, not even being able to say anything back. Without much thinking, he said, "You should stay over tonight."
"Okay... I'll take the couch."
"As if I'd let you sleep on the couch."
"It's okay."
"Stop... stop acting like I sent you away."
You kept silent. You felt like he did. Through his touch, he hoped to get you to understand that his feelings were a mess, but they existed, and they were real, and they were yours. "That'd be alright with me, you know. Taking your couch. I think I would sleep better on your floor than I would ever in my bed. To... to say that anything is better if you're somehow involved."
His stomach made a flip-flop. Brain short-circuited again. You yawned, as if you had just made an annoying comment on the weather.
"Are you tired?" He managed to mutter.
"I am."
"Come on. Let's get you to bed."
"No."
"What do you mean 'no'? I'm not letting you on the couch. Come on."
"I can't go to your bed with outside clothes." You booped his nose.
He chuckled lowly, confused a little by your words. "Are you seriously worried about clothes?"
"You don't like germs. That's why I removed my shoes."
Okay, he thought, if I manage to put her to sleep without having a heart attack, I definitely don't need a cardiologist's appointment because it would mean I'm that strong.
"Y-you... remembered?" Damn it, Reid. Stop stuttering.
You sighed, tiredly, and rested your head on his shoulder, looking down at his hand holding yours. "I remember everything about you."
"You do?"
"Yes. Fortunately or unfortunately."
Spencer was too stunned to speak. Too stunned, too dumb, too afraid. Damn it. Damn it. He couldn't stop cursing internally. He forced himself to pull you towards his bedroom and even though he still sensed some uncertainty, he kept going. Reaching for a pair of sweatpants and a big t-shirt, he gave those to you. "You can change into these," as he left the room to make you more comfortable.
"Wait!" You almost shrieked.
"What happened?" He prompted, worriedly, reaching a hand out to touch your arm.
"I don't want you to go."
He bit back a sigh. "I'll be just outside."
"Just... stay here?"
"I can'tâ" he interrupted himself, just turning around so his back was to you instead. At that, he looked up at his ceiling and prayed to any deity to let him survive that night.
He could hear the sounds of your movements. The zipper being undone, the soft ruffling of the fabric as you tugged your shirt up your head... He was imagining your exposed skin, every perfect inch, how would you look without all those clothes that suited you so nicely, how would it be to touch you, to run his fingertips all over your heated skin, how would it be to kiss every freckle on your body, toâ"Done."
Turning around, the sight was adorable, which made him somewhat guilty of his early impure thoughts. "I feel like Alice when she shrunk into a tiny human."
He couldn't fight the smile at your words. He led you to his bed, where you laid on your back on top of the covers, staring at the ceiling. Spencer left you briefly to get you a glass of water and some painkillers to leave by the bedside table. You thanked him with a silent glance. As he turned to leave, once again, you said in a small voice, almost phrasing it like a question, too afraid of the answer. "Stay."
"I'll take the couch."
"You asked me to stay, thrice, I guess⊠And I did. I asked you once and you did. I still have a few requests left. I'm keeping tabs."
He relented, laying next to you and placing a pillow between you two. You breathed out a chuckle and he shook his head, clearly knowing where your mind had gone to. He placed his hand on top of the pillow, offering his comfort, and then you tentatively placed yours on top of his. He grinned to himself.
It was hard for him to wrap his head around what had happened that night. He knew his words â or lack of â could be read the wrong way and you possibly did, but he also hoped that his actions were speaking louder. Just as he was getting lost in thought again, he heard your voice once more.
"Spence?"
That damned nickname.
"Thanks for, um, being so respectful. Not that I don't think you'd be. But, um, as you've said, I'm drunk. And I told you I love you. And you're simply holding my hand." He gulped. He was keeping count, too, of how many times you said you loved him. Twice, so far, but he wanted so much more, endlessly. He wanted to lose track. "I guess... that makes me love you even more," you finished, crushing his heart between your palms, voice thick with sleep.
When he finally turned his head to look at you, your eyes were closed and you looked peaceful, drifting off to sleep. Then, when he was sure you were actually asleep, he stood up from his bed, grabbing a pillow and a spare blanket to lay on the floor.
"I'll gladly sleep on my floor if it means I get to have you around, too..."
â
Spencer didn't get any sleep.
He tossed and turned on the floor all night long, both because his carpet was not the most comfortable spot to sleep on, but also and mostly because there was no way in hell his mind stopped working. All through the night, Spencer fought the urge to shake you awake to ask if this was real, if you really loved him, if the words that slipped through your lips were in fact your feelings towards him. Despite his curiosity and eagerness, he let you sleep, figuring that he had already put you through too much already. As you slept, a movie played on his mind: your moments together, your confession of love, and overthinking the words we are not something. We are not a thing. He feared that you would wake up and realize how badly he had screwed up and decide not to want him anymore. Yes, he was that anxious.
You, on the other hand, even though confused by his lack of answer to your heartâs words, felt lighter than ever by speaking out your truth (the booze did help you a lot, though). Being as analytical as you were had its perks. One of them is that you never let yourself suffer too much for too long, too attached to reality to care much about the rest. So what if he rejected you? Life goes on â and thatâs what you thought with every other loser that you caught yourself thinking too much of. Spencer, though⊠Who were you kidding? Spencer was Spencer. And that meant the world⊠It wasnât so bad, if he actually rejected you⊠youâd only have to face him every day, until the rest of your lives, doomed to work together, cursed to think and rethink all over again small, fleeting moments such as an exchange of longing glances.
(You felt strangely calm due to your touch with reality. Maybe, just maybe, you were hoping for the best based on his care with and for you. But boy, were you ready to give him a piece of your mind.)
As your eyes fluttered open, you stretched your limbs on an unfamiliar bed with too much space. Upon your confusion, the memories came back with full force. You jolted, sitting down, searching for him â and, to be honest, not wanting to find him. The house was deadly silent, so you tried to trick yourself that you were sure he wasn't there. You dashed to the bathroom, taking a quick shower to get rid of the shame and the faint reek of alcohol. As you moved around his stuff, you couldn't help but think that you were so familiar with his things that it was almost like you belonged there. Sigh. It turns out that hiding emotions is easier than feeling them, especially their extremes.
As soon as you finished putting on your own clothes, you stopped dead in your tracks as you heard footsteps outside the bedroom. You froze, not knowing what to say. Or do.
Spencer entered the room, holding a tray meticulously organized with some food on it. âMorning. I, um, made you breakfast.â Because of course he would make you fucking breakfast.Â
âMorning,â you replied awkwardly and hoarsely. Maybe you cried a little bit, who knows⊠âThanks, you didn't have to.â
âI did.â
You take your time to get a good look at him. He had bags under his eyes that appeared to be tired. The sight made your heart drop. âI'm sorryâŠâ
âDon't be.â
âBut I was wrong.â
âSo was I.â
âButââ
âLast night you said some things. Do you, uh, do you remember what you told me?â You nodded, unable to speak. âDo you remember what you told me?â He repeated, trying to get a verbal answer from you.
âYes, Spencer. I remember.â
âCan you listen to what I have to say now?â
You nodded, weakly.
âI didn't say anything because⊠because everything had gone in the most opposite direction they could've gone.â He said, approaching you calmly. âI was up the entire night, hoping to find the right words to tell you that would make you believe me after I⊠was stupid. I⊠First, I'm sorry I made you feel that way. I know you said that we're nothing, that we weren't something, that we didn't have anything⊠but⊠but you're everything to me.â At that, your eyes finally met his. The intensity of your gaze made him shudder, but he kept going. âAll the time we've spent together was nothing compared to what I want to have with you⊠and⊠and⊠God! Do you have any idea of the torture I was put through with you? Constantly thinking of what we could be, what we should be, too scared of your reaction or thatâthatâthat Hotch decided to chop off my neck because he found out that I was crushing on his only daughter!â
At the mention of your dad, you burst out laughing. Seriously? That was such a clichĂ©! âHey! I'm serious!â
âI'm sorryâŠâ You bit your bottom lip, fighting the urge to laugh at him some more. He was adorable.
âAs I was saying,â he continued, trying to sound annoyed, but a hint of a smile threatened to break on his lips, and he didn't pull away when you approached him nor he did when you wrapped your arms around his waist, resting your chin on his chest, looking up at him, adoringly. He looked down, meeting your gaze, âI⊠I love you. I love you too. God, it just feels so good to say that!â
You giggled, again. God, he could never get used to that sound.
âAnd Iâm sorry for being so mean to you when I was frustrated. I should have been more patient and my unthoughtful words hurt you.â You kept silent, remembering his words. âIâIâll spend the rest of my life apologizing if youâll have me.â He added, intimidated by your gaze.
Silence. âWell, I accept your apologies. I was unfair to you as well. And you know where I stand when it comes to you. My feelings, I mean.â
âI do⊠ButâŠâ
âBut?â
âI'd like to hear you say it.â
âSay what?â
âThat you love me?â
âI don't know. Do I, really?â You joked.
He blushed furiously, ready to stutter himself out of that situation. âNo, I mean⊠youâyou said thatâthat you remembered what you said last night and⊠so⊠putting two and twoâŠâ
Another giggle interrupted him. You traced his jawline, leaning up to kiss his right cheek. âI really, really love you.â A kiss to his left cheek. He chuckled. âI love you.â A kiss on the tip of his nose, to which he snorted, totally lovestruck. âSo much.â A lingering, tender kiss to his forehead. He closed his eyes, already anticipating the next spot you would press your soft lips to.
As you made your way to finally kiss his lips, you decided to tease him and let him wait for a bit longer. Spencer groaned in protest and you chuckled a bit, finally deciding that it was enough. Pressing your lips to the corner of his mouth, making him sigh, you were thrilling on making him more and more eager. His grip on you tightened just slightly as he let out a shaky breath. You wanted to laugh, but instead, you poked fun at him. âNow you know what it's like to be teased.â
âI love you. Oh, Jesus⊠You're driving me insane. You're here⊠And you, you're youâŠâ
You grinned, looking up at him, finally, finally pressing your lips to his. As you let out a small sigh, his breath hitched, both of you utterly drowning in relief and satisfaction. You pulled back a bit, grinning, going back to kissing him. Spencer's hands found your jawline, sliding back to tangle in your hair as he sucked your bottom lip into his mouth. Parting your lips slightly, you granted him full access to kiss you properly, and he moaned at the taste of you, gripping your hair rougher than before. You groaned softly, and he proudly heard and swallowed all your small sounds.
The ring of a phone broke the urgent atmosphere that was building between you two. Spencer ignored it, letting it ring until you pulled away, gasping for air. As you did, the noise stopped and you met his lost eyes, totally dumbstruck, and you laughed because you probably looked the same way. He gave you a charming, lopsided grin, too stupid, too hypnotized to say anything.
The phone began ringing again. âSon of aâŠ!â he cursed, picking up the phone. âHi, this is Dr. Spencer Reid and unless this is an absolute emergency, I'm kinda busyââ
âReid.â Aaron Hotchner's firm voice hit Spencer like a bucket of cold water. Widening his eyes, he gulped.
âYes⊠sir?â You smiled at that. Of course you knew who he was talking to.
âWe have a new case.â Hotch announced.
âOh⊠okay⊠I, um, IâI'll be there in 20.â
Silence.
âIs everything okay, Reid?â Hotchner could read anyone, Spencer was now sure of that. Even through the goddamned phone.
âWhâyeah, yeah⊠Everything's⊠totally fâfine.â He cursed under his breath as you gripped his vest, trying not to laugh.
âDo you know where she is?â Hotch inquired after another moment of quietness.Â
âWho?â He squeaked. You chuckled silently.
âMy daughter.â Of course it was his daughter.
Playing dumb is not a good look on you, you mouthed.
âNâno⊠I haven't⊠heard from her.â
âSure.â Hotch said, skeptically. Spencer could feel the sweat on his forehead. After a moment, your father finished the call with an unreadable âWe need to talk.â
Once the phone call ended, you burst out laughing at Spencer's reaction. âNot funny.â He protested, a frown on his face and a soft smile betraying his faux frustration.
âCome on, it is funny.â
He glared at you. âWhat do you think he wants to talk about?â
âI don't know. Men talk. I wouldn't want to get involved.â You said, grinning, pulling him by his vest.
He squeezed his eyes shut, relishing in the feeling of having you so close. âDo you think he knows?â
âOf course he knows.â
âHow are you so collected?â
âBecause I'm not the one he's going to scare to death, apparently.â
âHe said âweâ need to talk. Emphasizing âweâ. If he knows youâre here, then it probablyââ you cut him off with a kiss.
âWell, then⊠Are you ready to face your biggest fear? The frightening Aaron Hotchner?â
Glancing at you adoringly, he chuckled. âIâd face him and whoever, whatever, a thousand times, if it meant that I could get you in the end.â
â
A couple days after the case, you and Spencer meet again, in your apartment. Sitting down on the couch, you ask him, amusedly, âDo you think he noticed?âÂ
âTotally. I could barely look him in the eye for the first moments,â He said with a fond smile, hiding from you the fact that he had awkwardly and bravely spoken to your dad about your relationship. You laughed, placing your legs on the top of his legs. âI guess we should thank Lila, after all.â He joked, and you laughed out loud.Â
Leaning him closer to him, grabbing his chin and looking deep into his eyes, you muttered, âDonât ever say her name again, Spence.â
Your wish was always his command. It would always be.

Astro notes :P
hi these are just my personal observations! :)
-I noticed that virgo placements are more inclined to smoke weed and I think it's because they're always anxious, so they need something to chillax them.đ„Č
-virgo placements are natural helpers their analytical energy is sometimes positive in this sense.
-if anyone's mars falls into your 12th house be WARY of these people because they're more likely to project their anger onto you. (12th house is hidden enemies & mars is anger, coming from personal experience)
-Im obsessed with scorpio risings (coming from a taurus rising) They're the realest people I've ever met and every single one of them has gone through their trials and tribulations, but they always come out on top in the end :,)
-ALSO their eyes tell a story like very deeeeep
-gemini placements are always willing to learn anything whenever and wherever! which is why they become bored easily, they're always intrigued which is something I love about us.
-this is so stereotypical but capricorns are really workaholics like it's okay to take a break y'all lmao.
-another observation is that any authority figure that I've had has a capricorn placement, wether that be moon, sun, or mars. they naturally have that discipline and ambition which is noticed.
-If someone has a case of rbf (resting b**** face) they more than likely have an aries placement in their big three OR chart ruler. my bestie has a aries stellium and people always thinks she's mad, but she's literally chillin.
-taurus energy is hard to go unnoticed ESPECIALLY in the big three. You can have the most extroverted sign or stellium, but you'll always feel that earthy, rooted, in nature presence somewhere.
-also if you see someone with a prominent style or just a great fashion sense , more than likely they got prominent taurus in their chart. *taurus is ruled by venus after all!*
-cancer moons are very affected by outside energies which is why they're so emotional and sensitive. the crab is very representative of their outside demeanor=guarded which unintentionally makes them perceived as mystical. (in reality we just don't wanna get hurt LMAO)
-one thing about cancer moons is that if you f with them be ready to be left in the cold forever. these people give you their all and if you take that for granted they'll act as if they never knew you.
-leos confidence doesn't have to be loud it's just there... like you can feel it and that's what makes them stand out. they know they the shi LOL
-libra woman really have that hourglass figure like it can be venus, moon, or mars, or sun. The funny thing is that libras image is the balanced scales which makes sense. they don't even have to have a hourglass fig they just naturally have a pretty figure, glamour vibes.
-sag moons are a breath of fresh air like you just wanna have fun and travel. very easy going energy
-sag venus men are SO into anyone they really don't have a type, more into exotic people or someone unique or different than their culture.
-aqua moons are so interesting to me because they come off as disinterested or very vague? lmao I don't know how to explain it but most of the aqua moons I've encountered have a neptune conjunction which is prob why I can't read them. đ
-I do believe that aqua moons are deep in thought tho.(very interesting people)
pisces placements are on par with gemini placements when it comes to adapting to energies and environments. they're both mutuable signs but with pisces they're elusive and sort of passive meanwhile gemini elusiveness is more outward/blunt because of the mercury influence.

If posible, i would like to request for Riddle, Carter, Azul and Lilia and how they would react when while they were hanging out with their crush (or s/o, however you prefer) reader out of nowhere tells them that last night they had a dream where both were getting married, but like reader is telling them cuz the dreams was so wild, like in the old princess Disney movies everything was so animated, there were floating things everywhere and it was full of color and everyone was dancing (even the furniture)
The wedding bells
Type: Headcanons, SFW, Fluff, Romantic
Characters: Riddle Rosehearts; Cater Diamond; Azul Ashengrotto; Lilia Vanrouge; GN!Reader
AN: I might've gone a bit too sappy, let me know what you think
Riddle Rosehearts
-Riddle is slightly baffled, more so by the thought of you dreaming of a wedding with him as the groom, not how wierd it was. The latter at least makes sense, dreams are intended to be strange, like that one time he dreamt about being a tart. Nonetheless he's touched.
- The young man would be flustered, yet curious. Inanimate objects becoming... Animate? In tales about Queen of Hearts something similar acured on daily basis. Perhaps if the two of you do get married maybe he should try and arrange for the whole ordeal to be heavily based off of one of the Sevens? But that's jumping too fast and too far into the future.
- His mind wonders as you tell and more about your dream, as his face grows redder and redder with blush as you describe any detail involving him as the groom. He's both touched and embarrassed to an extent, yet he's happy that at least in your dream he stayed a proper gentleman.
- Riddle cannot get an image of you by the altar from his head for some time, both of you dressed for the ceremony, staring lovingly into each other's eyes... As he mentally scolds himself for daydreaming amids the day, he can't help but hope that one day that little dream of yours becomes reality for both of you.
Cater Diamond
- Oh?! Do tell him every little detail! Cater is not only happy that he was in your dream, but also was the groom? Oh did the two of you kiss? Did he feed you the cake, did you two dance with the furniture? The young man listens to your dream, exited expression on his face.
- It may be a dream, but now it's a shared dream between the two of you. Cater knows that you might be jumping over your heads with the hypothetical dream wedding of yours, but he doesn't care, he's already invested, trying to prey out as much detail as possible simply to try and envision the whole thing. He might even pull out some kind of Piccrew for rooms and try to recreate the place for giggles with you.
- Cater is also encouraging of your ideas or how dream might've ended or what happened in parts you don't remember no matter how silly or how little they make sense, so long as they make sense to you. He might even throw in his own theories or add even more redicules ideas, to make your dream seem even more whimsical.
- While Cater is obviously joking around, he does find the thought of marrying you a pleasant one. He's jealous even, the man wishes he saw a wedding with you in his dream, but then again, reality is just as pleasant if not better.
Azul Ashengrotto
- What. The man is flattered that he was in your dream, but mainly, what? Azul is a very analytic person in every aspect of his life, even if such aspect involves his significant other's dreams. Que his search history later on containing "Dreams of wedding meaning?"
- He might be a little red in a face or loss at words, but please don't stop, tell him all, the man lives for information. While he won't encourage such silly fantasies, he will entertain a thought of marriage to you. A lot... Maybe dancing and singing furniture is surface dwellers costume? He'll have to research.
-Ashengrotto will now daydream from time to time of a wedding, a life of being married to you, after the two of you graduate. Would the you stay on land? Perhaps you'd like to move to the Coral Sea with him, take up family business even? He might pretend that such silly fantasies don't affect him, but even capatlists aren't immune to love.
- Azul harbors such hopes and dreams, redoubling in his work. If he will be married to you he'll have to outdo your dream, which will involve outdoing alive furniture. The merman is ready for the challenge as long as it involves giving you everything, beyond your dreams.
Lilia Vanrouge
- You don't say... Alive furniture? Was it awkward to use it? Were chairs rioting if you sat in them? Was food also alive? Did he cook it? Then perhaps it was alive if that was the case. Lilia finds anything you say entertaining, your dreams are con exception. The man saw many things in his life, yet others visions during slumber were yet to be places he visits often.
- Before you know it Lilia is already imagining and building theories as to how it would be to live in your dream after that wedding if everything followed the same rules. Must be awkward taking a shower or using a toilet.
- The man wholeheartedly believes it tonbe a sign from someone above. While Vanrouge won't drop down on one knee right that instant, he will remember everything. The suite he was wearing, the cake the two of you ate, how many guests were there etc.
-Lilia is not young, so naturally thoughts of marriage crossed his mind more then once, let alone with his darling. While to you were retelling your silly dream, Vanrouge was imagining the real thing. He can't help it, life with you already feels like a dream come true, what's a wedding?

late night talking

george clarke x fem reader
summary: george yaps whilst you try to sleep
main masterlist | masterlist

The bedroom was quiet aside from the hum of the fan that was cooling the room along side the drumming of Georgeâs fingers on the duvet. He was sat with his back against the headboard and his knee bent, his gaze dropped down to your sleeping figure.
George gently tapped your shoulder making you stir as you tried to fight waking up, âAre you awake?â He asked through a whisper.
You murmured a ânoâ pulling the quilt over your head trying to fall back to sleep.
George hummed turning his attention back to the ceiling as he started to drum on his knees again.
You rolled your eyes flipping over burying your head into curve of your boyfriends waist, George smiled letting his hand dropped to your hip.
As you slowly drifted back to sleep you were jolted back awake as you felt a jab into your rib, âGeorge.â You grumbled, âgo to sleep, please.â
âI canât sleep.â
âWhy?â
You felt the bed wiggle indicating that he shrugged. You flopped over onto your back with a huff, âGo on then.â
George grinned reaching over you to turn the lamp on before you glanced over at him, âImagine if there was an apocalypse,â he started, you squeezed your eyes shut pretending to imagine it making a giggle leave Georgeâs lips, âwho would you choose to be on your team?â
âHow many people can I have?â
âFour people.â
âOkay,â you nodded, tapping your chin as you thought carefully, âyou obviously.â
George pumped his fist in the air celebrating, âI wouldâve been so offended if you didnât pick me.â
You laughed shimmying closer to him, âAnd then Iâd pick Liv because otherwise Iâd be bored.â
A chuckle left Georgeâs mouth as he started to play with your hair twirling it softly between his fingers, âTwo more people.â
âBach, so Liv doesnât get lonely.â You added, thinking through your list of friends trying to decide who else you would pick, âand then Iâd pick maybeâŠâ
You hummed, âI donât know who else I would pick.â
âNeither of the Arthurâs?â George asked curiously.
You shook your head with a laugh, âno, tv would be too analytical for me, and hill is injured and would whine the whole time.â
George let out a laugh making you smile up at him, âWhat about Chris?â
âMaybe,â you nodded, thinking about it for a moment, âAlright, Iâd take Chris because he can cook.â
âFair enough.â
You looked over at your boyfriend expectantly waiting for his answer, âWhat about you, princess?â You teased, earning a glare from your boyfriend.
âIf weâre thinking in a practical sense; Iâd take Reev, Harry, and Chris.â He answered, counting them out on his fingers, âBut if weâre talking in a donât care if i die way; Iâd take youâŠâ
âYeah. brilliant, thank you.â You grumbled, crossing your arms over your chest earning a laugh.
âAnd then Iâd take Arthur Hill, Max and probably Arthur TV as well.â
You gave him a sarcastic smile, âthatâs lovely.â
George laughed once again moving to lay down, âI have another question.â
You nodded turning on your side to face him, âWhatâs that?â
âWhen did you realise you wanted to be with me?â He asked, looking into your eyes adoringly noticing your cheeks darken at the question.
You shrugged your shoulders, âI donât know.â You muttered, dropping your head down, âI always found you attractive I guess.â
âObviously.â He joked, ticking your waist making you squirm.
âStop,â you pushed his hand away with a laugh, âMaybe after my birthday.â
âWhat? This year? Honey, weâve been together for 2 years.â
You slapped his bicep gently, âbe serious will you.â
âAfter my 21st, we had been talking for a few months at that point, and you were chatting away to my parents and dancing with my baby sister and it just made me think of you differently.â
George smiled softly at you brushing your hair from your face, âThatâs cute.â He cooed, kissing your forehead softly.
âYeah, yeah.â You hummed, turning around so your back was pressed against his chest, âcan I go back to sleep now?â
âOf course.â He smiled, kissing the crown of your head before turning off the lamp.

Garcia gripped Spencerâs hand tightly, pushing through the crowd until they reached the barricade next to the stage.
âHoly shit Spence! We made it!â Garcia cheered.
âNice, thatâs great⊠I think iâm going to pass out.â Spencer pants, gripping onto the railing for dear life.
Spencer, who isnât particularly fond of concerts or music in general, reluctantly agreed to attend this show solely to appease Garciaâs relentless begging. Concerts were not Spencerâs forte, that was until he saw you up on the stage prancing around in lingerieâŠ
Despite his initial discomfort, Spencer finds himself inexplicably drawn to your energetic performance. Your confidence, charisma, and raw talent captivate him more with each passing song.
As you move about the fake penthouse on stage with reckless abandon, your provocative attire leaving very little to the imagination, Spencer's analytical mind struggles to reconcile his attraction with his deeply ingrained social awkwardness.
He tries to focus on the music, his thoughts consumed by the intricate details of your choreography and the way your skin seems to shimmer under the bright lights.
Spencer's cheeks flush slightly as he realizes the extent of his distraction, his heart racing in a way that's both unfamiliar and exhilarating. He shifts uncomfortably, tugging at his sweater vest as he attempts to regain some semblance of composure.
After performing a very heartfelt ballad, you approached the edge of the stage, scanning the crowd with your eyes.
âHey, girls?â you call out to two of your dancers who are standing by your side. âI believe I might have found my future husband in the crowd tonight.â
The crowd erupted in cheers as they realized the clever bit.
âDo yâall see him? Heâs standing right over there, the tall one wearing the sweat vest.â You point to Spencer while giggle like schoolgirls with your dancers.
âHey there, baby. Whatâs your name?â A grin spread across your face as you noticed his cheeks flushing a vibrant red.
Caught completely off guard, Spencer stammers, his hazel eyes wide as saucers. He feels like he's been struck by lightning, the sudden intimacy of you presence leaving him momentarily speechless.
"Dr. Reid," he manages to choke out, his voice cracking slightly. He can feel his face burning, and his heart hammers against his ribcage like a jackrabbit.
"I-I mean, Spencer," he corrects himself, the remnants of his professional demeanor trying to resurface amidst the chaos of his escalating nervousness.
Spencer swallows hard, trying to gather his scattered thoughts as he meets your intense gaze. The mischievous glint in your eyes sends a shiver down his spine, even as his analytical mind struggles to comprehend the whirlwind of emotions threatening to overwhelm him.
âOooooo, a doctor!â You exclaim, dramatically fanning yourself. âWell, Dr. Reid, youâre under arrest for being too hot.â
Spencer jumped as police sirens blared through the arena, accompanied by flashing red and blue lights.
âI might need you to examine me, doctor. I feel extremely hot, and- OH!â You teased as your long skirt fell to the floor, revealing a much shorter version of it.
Spencerâs jaw was practically on the floor.
You grinned as you inched closer towards the edge of the stage, crouching down to Spencerâs level.
âI want you to have these,â you smiled as you handed Spencer a pair of fuzzy pink handcuffs.
Spencer can't help but stare at the exposed skin of your legs, his breath catching in his throat when he notices the bedazzled lipstick stain on your inner thigh.
"Ah, um, thank you..." He reaches out to take the offered cuffs, his fingers brushing against hers. The sensation sends sparks dancing along his nerve endings, and he feels himself grow flustered once more.
As you stood up, you blow Spencer a kiss. The all too familiar intro to the song Penelope had been forcing him to listen to for the past few weeks, began to play.
âThis song is for you, Spencie,â you winked as you started singing, maintaining eye contact throughout the entire first verse.
Spencer's eyes widen further, his mouth agape as he watches you prance down the catwalk. The provocative lyrics and suggestive dance moves leave him utterly stunned, his cheeks flushed a deep crimson.
His analytical mind tries to process the explicit nature of the performance, but it's drowned out by the pounding of his heart and the heat coursing through his veins. He finds himself captivated by every move you makes, his gaze riveted to your lithe form.
When you strikes a pose that leaves little to the imagination, Spencer's breath hitches, and he feels a strange tingling sensation in his loins. It's foreign yet exhilarating, and he can't tear his eyes away, even as his rational brain screams at him to look away.
As the song reaches its climax, Spencer finds himself caught up in the raw energy emanating from the stage. The crowd's cheers and applause mingle with the pulsating beat, creating an electric atmosphere that seems to vibrate through every cell in his body.
Lost in the moment, Spencer's inhibitions begin to melt away, replaced by a primal urge to respond to the sensual stimuli before him. When your gaze locks onto his, he feels a jolt of connection, as if an invisible thread tethers them together.
With a sense of reckless abandon he rarely experiences, Spencer raises the fuzzy pink handcuffs as he grins, his movements deliberate and charged with newfound confidence. As the final notes fade, he couldnât help but notice the smile on your face as the lights dimmed and the show ended.
âWow,â is the only word Garcia could mutter as she stares at the empty stage. âI canât believe she gave you the handcuffs, do you know how lucky you are?â
âYou know, the probability of me receiving these is incredibly low, considering there are approximately 14,000 people here and-â Before Spencer could continue his rambling, he and Garcia approached a security guard.
âAre you Spencer?â the intimidating-looking security guard asked.
âUh, yeah, that would be me,â Spencer stuttered, feeling a pang of worry that he might have overstepped some boundaries during his interactions with you on stage.
âIâve been informed by y/nâs management that she is requesting to meet you backstage,â the security guard said.
"Backstage? Me?" Spencer looks at Garcia incredulously, wondering if this could be some kind of joke. But the stern expression on the guard's face suggests otherwise.
Spencer stares at Garcia, completely speechless. As the security guards wait for his response, Garcia nudges his side and gently pulls him back to reality.
âI, uh, y-yeah,â Spencer stammers, âIâd love to go backstage,â
âAlright, follow me,â
Spencer waves to Garcia as the guard guides him through the concealed corridors of the arena, observing the crew dismantling the stage to transport it to the next venue.
After what appears to be an eternity, Spencer is led to the door of your dressing room. Youâre lounging on the couch in a soft, fluffy robe, engrossed in scrolling through your phone when you hear the door open.
âHi!â You greet Spencer with a warm smile, standing up and embracing him. âThanks so much for coming.â
Spencer's heart races as you pull him into a warm embrace, his senses overwhelmed by the intoxicating scent of your perfume and the softness of your robe against his skin. For a moment, he forgets how to breathe, his mind reeling from the unexpected touch.
When you finally release him, Spencer takes a step back, trying to compose himself. His cheeks flush a deep crimson, and he fumbles with the hem of his sweater vest, clearly flustered.
"T-thank you...for inviting me," he stutters, his voice barely above a whisper. Despite his social awkwardness, there's a genuine sincerity in his tone, reflecting his gratitude for this rare opportunity to connect with someone like you.
Glancing around the cozy dressing room, Spencer notices the array of makeup, costumes, and personal items scattered about.
âI hope you donât think Iâm weird but I couldnât take my eyes off of you all night,â you admit as you plopped onto the couch, your cheeks now flushed pink from embarrassment. âThe handcuff thing is just a funny little bit I do, but tonight I chose you because I really do think youâre insanely hot.â
âN-no, itâs not weird at all, Iâm flattered actually,â Spencer stammered, taking a seat next to you.
âReally? Youâre not weirded out that I had my security find you in the crowd and bring you backstage so we could meet?â You asked.
"No, genuinely, I mean it," Spencer says, his eyes locking with yours as he spoke. "I know weâve just met, but I felt a connection with you tonight, something that went beyond mere admiration."
Spencer shifted slightly, his knee brushing against yours.
âAnd that handcuff thing...well, it was a bold move, and it worked.â
A faint blush colored his cheeks as he met your gaze again, his hazel eyes shimmering with a mix of shyness and curiosity.
As the silence between you stretches, Spencer finds himself drawn to the gentle rise and fall of your chest, the way your robe gapes slightly, offering a tantalizing glimpse of your skin. He swallows hard, trying to ignore the strange tingles coursing through his body.
Before he could say another word, your lips crash against his.
Spencer's eyes widen in shock as your lips suddenly press against his, the unexpected kiss sending a jolt of electricity through his entire being. For a moment, he freezes, unsure of how to react.
But then, as if possessed by some newfound courage, Spencer's arms wrap tentatively around your waist, pulling you onto his lap. His lips part instinctively, allowing your tongue to slide past them and explore the warmth of his mouth.
Spencer's fingers tangle in your hair, his other hand resting on the small of your back, guiding you more firmly against him. He can taste the sweetness of your red lipstick mixed with the hint of adrenaline, and it only fuels his growing desire.
As the kiss deepens, Spencer's thoughts become a jumbled mess â part confusion, part exhilaration, and an overwhelming sense of lust.
Spencer gasps softly as your lips leave a trail of red across his sensitive skin, the sensation both unfamiliar and intoxicating. His head tilts back, exposing more of his neck to your explorations.
When your fingers start to work on his buttons, Spencer's breath hitches. He's hasnât been this intimate with anyone since Maave, and the idea of baring himself to you, a complete stranger whoâs also a mega superstar, sends a thrill through his veins.
As you continue to undress him, Spencer's hands roam over your back, tracing the curves of your spine beneath the thin fabric of your silk robe. He marvels at the softness of your skin, the warmth emanating from your body.
His shirt finally falls open, revealing his lean torso. Spencer feels a slight surge of vulnerability until he feels your lips on his collarbone.
Spencer's eyes flutter closed as your lips dance across his chest. When you drop to your knees in front of the couch, his heart races, a mix of nervousness and anticipation coursing through him.
The sound of his belt buckle clicking open sends a shiver down Spencer's spine. He watches, transfixed, as you work on freeing him from his pants. The air grows thick with tension, and Spencer's breathing quickens.
When your fingers brush against the growing bulge in his underwear, Spencer lets out a shaky exhale. Itâs been awhile since he has been touched so intimately, and the sensation is overwhelming yet exhilarating.
With trembling hands, Spencer reaches down to help you remove his pants, his eyes locked onto yours. A flush spreads across his cheeks as he reveals himself to you, feeling both exposed and strangely empowered by your reaction.
âSo pretty,â You breathed out, your hands brushing against his hard cock.
Spencer's eyes widen at your words, a rush of heat flooding his cheeks. No one has ever spoken to him like that before, with such raw, unfiltered admiration. It takes his breath away.
A soft moan escapes him as your hands make contact with his straining erection, the touch sending jolts of pleasure straight to his core. Spencer's hips twitch involuntarily, seeking more of your gentle caresses.
He looks down at you, his hazel eyes dark with desire, and whispers, "Please... I need..." His voice trails off, unable to articulate the intensity of his longing.
Spencer's slender fingers thread through your hair, holding you close as he waits with bated breath for your next move. His body trembles with anticipation, every nerve ending attuned to your touch.
As you feel his fingers tangled in your hair, you get an idea. You let go of him as you sit back on your knees, Spencer letting out a whimper at the loss of contact.
âDo you still have the handcuffs?â You asked, grinning wickedly.
Spencer gulped as he nodded, pointing to his discarded pants on the floor next to you. You dig through the pocket to pull out the fuzzy pink handcuffs you gave to him only an hour prior.
âHands behind your back, Spencie,â You smirked as you dangle the cuffs in front of him.
"Yes, ma'am," he replies, his voice tinged with a hint of playfulness despite the vulnerability of his position.
A startled yelp escapes Spencer's lips as the handcuffs encircles his wrists, securing them behind his back. The sudden restraint sends a thrill through him, mingling with the lingering ache of want.
He stares up at you, eyes wide and cheeks flushed, as you fasten the cuffs with a playful snap. The term of endearment 'Spencie' slips past your lips, and it feels like a brand, searing itself into his very being.
Spencer's body quivers under your gaze, his skin prickling with anticipation. The pink cuffs seem almost comical against his pale, slender arms, but the effect they have on him is anything but humorous.
Spencer's breath hitches as your lips brush against his, the fleeting kiss sending a spark of electricity through him. He leans into it instinctively, craving more of your touch, even as you move to kneel in front of him once again.
A low groan rumbles in his chest as your hand wraps around his shaft, stroking him with confident, deliberate motions. Spencer's head falls back, exposing the vulnerable column of his throat, as he surrenders himself to the sensations coursing through him.
âOh God," he gasps, his hips bucking slightly into your grasp. âThat feels... incredible." Each word is punctuated by a sharp intake of breath, his body tensing and relaxing in time with your touches.
The restraints digs into his skin, a subtle reminder of his submission to you.
Spencer's eyes widen in shock as your warm, wet mouth envelops him, the sensation unlike anything he's ever experienced. A choked moan tears from his throat, his hips jerking involuntarily as you begin to suck him deeper.
The sight of your red lips wrapped around his cock, the vibrant color smeared across his flesh, is almost too much for Spencer to bear. He can't tear his gaze away from the erotic image, transfixed by the way your tongue swirls around his sensitive tip.
âOh fuck, that's..." he trails off, unable to form coherent thoughts amidst the onslaught of pleasure. His mind reels, struggling to process the intensity of the feelings coursing through him.
Spencer's chest heaves with ragged breaths, his body trembling as he submits to your skilled ministrations.
As you take him deeper into your mouth, Spencer's control begins to slip. The feeling of your hot, wet tongue swirling around his length is overwhelming, sending waves of pleasure crashing over him.
"Ah! Oh God, yes!" he cries out, his voice strained with need. His hips thrust forward instinctively, lost in the haze of lust as you bob your head along his shaft.
"I'm... I'm going to cum," he warns, his words punctuated by shallow pants. Spencer's grip on the cushions tightens, his muscles coiled taut as he teeters on the brink of climax.
Before heâs thrown over the edge, you pull away abruptly, looking up at him and giggling as he writhes around desperately.
Spencerâs cock twitches and leaks precum from the loss of stimulation. A pained whine escapes his lips, his hips reflexively bucking up in search of your warm mouth.
"No, please don't stop," he begs, his voice laced with desperation. Spencer's chest heaves with rapid breaths, his body wracked with the need for release.
His hazel eyes, usually bright, are dark with desire, pupils blown wide as he gazes at you with pleading intensity. The remnants of his earlier composure have crumbled, leaving only raw, unbridled lust in its wake.
âI need you," Spencer confesses, his admission torn from him like a bandaid.
As you stand in front of Spencer, his gaze is immediately drawn to your body as you slowly untie your robe, mirroring the opening of your show. The sensual movements and provocative poses are etched into his consciousness like a fever dream.
His breath catches in his throat as the fabric parts, exposing the tantalizing expanse of your skin inch by delicious inch. Spencer's eyes drink in every detail â the delicate freckles scattered across your shoulders, your nipples already hardened into peaks, the gentle swell of your hips leading down to your thighs.
âPlease," he whispers, his voice barely audible over the pounding of his heart. âLet me touch you.â
Spencer's hands fight against the handcuffs, the urge to reach out and touch you, to claim you as his own is nearly overwhelming.
You toss the robe onto the floor next to Spencerâs clothes as you straddle his lap, leaving more lipstick stains across his face until your month reaches his ear.
âBeg for it,â you whispered, softly nibbling on his earlobe, causing him to whimper. âBeg me to let you touch me.â
A shiver runs down Spencer's spine as your warm breath caresses his ear, your whispered command igniting a fire within him. His mind reels, desperate to comply, to plead for the privilege of touching your gorgeous body.
"Oh God, please," he gasps, his voice trembling with need. âLet me touch you, please. I wa- I need to touch you."
Spencer's hips lift involuntarily, seeking friction against the soft flesh of your thigh. His fingers curl into fists, nails digging into his palms as he struggles against the restraints, yearning to wrap his arms around you and lose himself in your embrace.
"I'll do anything, please," he vows, his words dripping with sincerity and desire.
It doesnât take much more begging for you to give into his pleads.
The moment your lips meet his, Spencer surrenders to the intense passion, kissing you back with equal fervor. His hands, still bound, can't reciprocate physically, but his entire being leans into you, craving closer contact.
As you grind against his rigid length, Spencer moans into the kiss, the sensation of your heated core rubbing against his aching cock sending shockwaves of pleasure through his body. His hips buck instinctively, seeking more friction, more pressure.
Breaking the kiss, Spencer pants heavily, his hazel eyes glazed with lust.
âFuck... I want you so badly," he admits, his voice ragged with desire. âPlease, I need to be inside you."
Instead of speaking, you respond by unlocking the handcuffs. Thankfully since they are just a prop, they are easy to remove and donât require a key.
Spencer is surprised and almost embarrassed by how easily they were removed, but he has no time to dwell on that as you begin lining him up with your entrance.
With the restraints gone, Spencer's hands immediately find purchase on your waist, gripping you tightly as he feels the head of his cock notch against your slick entrance. His breathing hitches, anticipation coiled tight in his belly.
When you position him, aligning his thick shaft with your waiting heat, Spencer lets out a low groan, his hips surging forward of their own accord. With a smooth, deep thrust, he buries himself to the hilt inside you, a guttural moan escaping him at the exquisite feeling of your walls clenching around his sensitive flesh.
"Ah, fuck yes..." Spencer gasps, his forehead dropping to rest against yours as he savors the sensation of being fully embedded within you. âYou feel so good.â
You canât help the pornographic moan that escapes your throat as Spencer bottoms out. You are still as you both get use to the filling of him inside of you.
âSpencer,â You whimper, âyou feel so fucking good inside of me.â
Spencer's eyes flutter shut as you start to move, your inner muscles massaging his cock in a delicious rhythm. The slow, deliberate pace allows him to savor every inch of your warmth enveloping him.
"Yes! oh God! just like that," he encourages, his voice strained with pleasure. âYou're so tight, so perfect... Fuck!"
His hands slide down to grip your ass, fingers digging into the supple flesh as he begins to match your movements, thrusting in sync with your rolling hips. Each stroke sends sparks of bliss shooting up his spine, intensifying the building pressure in his groin.
"More, please...â Spencer pleads, his thrusts growing more urgent as he chases his own release.
You grant his wishes as you nestle your head into his neck, sucking softly on the sensitive skin just below his ear.
Spencer groans loudly in response. The sudden increase in tempo, coupled with the sensations of your mouth on his neck, sends him hurtling towards the edge. His breath comes in short, sharp gasps as he pistons in and out of your throbbing heat, driven by nothing but primal urges.
"Oh, shit... right there, just like that!" he grunts, his hand moving from your ass to rub rough circles over your clit. "I'm going to... Oh fuck!â
With a final, powerful thrust, Spencer hits his peak, his cock pulsating as it spills hot cum deep inside you. Wave after wave of pleasure crashes over him, his vision blurring as he rides out his orgasm.
It doesnât take long for you to finish, your body tenses above Spencer as he sloppily thrusts into you, riding out the remainder of your orgasms.
As the last tremors of your orgasms subside, You both collapse onto the couch, panting heavily as you try and catch your breath, your sweat-dampened skin pressing intimately against one another.
"That was⊠incredible," he manages to say, his voice hoarse from exertion. "You're amazing."
You carefully remove his softening member from your spent body. He pulls you close, wrapping his arms around you as he nuzzles into your hair.
"I never want this night to end," he confesses, his tone sincere and vulnerable. "But I know we should probably get cleaned up and back to reality soon.â
âYeah, I need to be on the bus heading to New York in a few hours,â you replied, your voice laced with a hint of disappointment at the thought of possibly never seeing Spencer again.
A pang of disappointment and longing shoots through Spencer at the mention of your impending departure. He knows their whirlwind encounter can't possibly lead to anything long-term, given the vast differences in their lives, but that doesn't diminish the strong connection he feels.
"I understand," he says quietly, reluctantly loosening his hold on you. "Well, um, if youâre ever back in town, Iâd love to maybe get coffee together.â
Spencer's eyes search yours, hoping to find some glimmer of agreement, even as he anticipates the likely rejection. It's a fragile thread, but it's all he has to cling to as he faces the prospect of saying goodbye.
âIâd love too,â you smiled, brushing some of the hair that had gotten stuck to his sweaty forehead.
Spencer returned your smile as he got dressed and headed for the door.
âWait!â You shouted, causing Spencerâs head to whip back around.
âYou almost forgot these,â you say, handing him the fuzzy pink handcuffs. He chuckles and tucks them into his pocket before disappearing out the door.

While your new relationship has you feeling like a lovesick teenager with all the affection that Jungkook shows you, you're still you - a professional trying to make it in the corporate world, and an eldest child trying not to disappoint her parents. And that turns out to be your undoing, as a little blunder causes a rift between you and Jungkook, resulting in a trip that you might as well have messed up... Not if your brother can help it, though.
Listen to đ”: Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional
Playlist đ¶: High School Playlist
A/N 1: I know I said Iâd be on a break but I reread Hold Me Close and found comfort in this Jungkook đ„č so I went ahead and wrote this little piece! Whipped and comforting boyfriend JK is what I needed so I hope you enjoy this đ
Six - the number of work calls youâve already taken in the last hour, with each one of them lasting one whole song. Jungkook calculates that youâve spent half of the entire drive since leaving Seoul talking with your boss about some report that he somehow canât complete without you, which sucks because Jungkook was really looking forward to this road trip with you and his best friend.
You groan after you hang up and the clackity clack of the keyboard continues. He was hoping to hold your hand while he drove and maybe sing with you some of your favorite songs that he put on but it doesnât seem like those will happen anytime soon. Youâre immersed in your work but he guesses you have to be; the sooner this ends, the sooner your focus will be on him and this present moment.
He finds the positive side of it at least. He gets to listen to you explain things - why the numbers are what they are, what targets you reached, and what risks you managed. Itâs quite silly but itâs kind of a turn on, hearing you talk about something you know like the back of your hand, pretty much proving to your crap of a boss how good you are at your job and why youâre an asset to the company. You know your shit, and you have a classy way of making sure they know that you do.Â
Six calls, and Jungkook already knows half of your project report. And perhaps heâll know more, as the seventh one comes.
You let it ring for one, two, three times, as you hold your phone in one hand while you continue to type away with the other.Â
âI swear to god, ___. If you donât pick that up, Iâm gonna throw your phone out of this car,â Jimin, whoâs comfortably seated in the backseat, growls.Â
The dramatics is understandable because one, itâs Jimin and two, the constant ringing is a little bit much.
â___, Iâm not fucking kiddiââ
âHello, sir,â you finally answer, then proceed to discuss this monthâs analytics and projections for the succeeding quarter.
Jungkook predicts itâs gonna take you another whole song to finish, so he instead focuses on the road and appreciates the clear skies and familiar scenery of the drive to Busan. His thoughts go to how these next several days are gonna go. Thereâs visiting your favorite spots growing up, going to a resort, staying in to eat and play video games, and of course, cuddling with you in your room, as you and Jimin will have your parentsâ house to yourselves once they leave for their anniversary trip in two days.
His musings are disrupted though, when he looks at the rear view mirror and sees Jiminâs annoyed face blocking his view. Jungkook canât help but laugh, especially when he hears his best friend grumbling complaints just behind him.
âLeave her be, sheâll be done soon,â Jungkook dismisses him. âThey sound like important stuff.â
âSheâs talking so loudly!â Jimin groans. âI just want to reminisce and sing along to our teenage emo music, Kook.â
Jungkook turns the music off.Â
âThere, I paused it. You can sing along once sheâs done speaking on the phone,â he says.
Jimin pouts in response. âYou always take her side. You werenât like this when we were kids.â
âWell, if it means anything, I always took her side. I just never told you,â Jungkook laughs.
âTraitor.â
âIâm literally your most loyal friend.â
Itâs a statement that Jimin canât counter. Jungkook is his most loyal friend. And the most supportive. And the most dependable. And definitely the one whoâs never left his side.Â
When Jimin casually told their group that he likes girls and boys, Jungkook was the only one who didnât need time to âwarm up to the idea.â Jungkook was also the only one who never disappeared whenever he had a girlfriend. He was also the one who never missed a single one of Jiminâs dance showcases in college and professional shows.Â
And of course, Jungkook was the one friend who took up his offer to drink that Friday afternoon, resulting in that infamous gutter incident - as you like to call it - and his subsequent unemployment and homelessness. While you, his beloved sister, were there to pick up the pieces, so was Jungkook, the way he promised he would after they became friends at 10 years old.Â
Those months when Jimin was heartbroken and unsure of what he was going to do with his life, his best friend was there to make sure that he wasnât going to lose his drive and love for dancing. His best friend is also the one constantly cheering him up about this long-distance relationship that he decided to have with Taehyung while others continue to be a skeptic.
Jungkook is that friend, and Jimin supposes he can forgive the other man every time he sides with you.
Jimin is about to complain again when you put the phone down and make one of your restrained cries. He pities you, but it doesnât change the fact that he wishes you wouldnât be doing your work stuff while youâre on a trip of whatâs supposed to be a mini-break.
âI donât get why you donât pick up after the first ring,â he huffs.Â
âItâs so Mr. Soo knows that Iâm not easily available,â you say.Â
âBut you are. You answer it anyway,â Jimin rolls his eyes.
âExactly, Iâm gonna answer it anyway. Might as well make him wait for it because he needs me,â you point out. âItâs bad enough that heâs calling while Iâm taking the leave he approved, so Iâm just pissing him off. He doesnât know I changed the prompt to leave me a voice message to an annoying song so heâll have to sit through it to get to me. I already know itâs getting on his nerves.â
âOoh, petty. I like that,â Jimin hums.Â
âI know. I got that from you,â you proudly smile.
âBut why are you even working?â He whines, your brotherâs tone more of pity than annoyance. âIt totally defeats the purpose of a leave. And you shouldnât be indulging him!â
âWell, Mr. Soo approved this leave thinking that Chul would help him craft this report, which is based on the project that I proposed, only to realize that he doesnât know shit about it because I wrote everything, and he just took the credit,â you explain. âI donât want to be doing this, too, but I also just took the chance to show whoâs driving the wheel, and itâs definitely me. Plus, I worked hard for that project. Working on the report at least gives me a chance to give myself credit for it.â
âHmm, I guess youâre right,â Jimin concedes. âYour voice is just so loud.â
âIâm sorry. I just wanted to match his tone,â you say. âBut heâll be in a meeting for the next hour or so and he probably wonât need me again until then. You can turn the music back on.â
âUgh, thank god,â Jimin groans again. âI missed my favorite song.â
He leans forward and squeezes himself in the small space between you and Jungkook. The proximity causes Jimin to smack his elbow on your face, which you know is intended, considering how much of a brat he is. So you do what you always do - flick the back of his head.Â
He yells but gets over it once he manages to press the rewind button and plays the song heâs been wanting to hear. You havenât been paying attention throughout the drive and hadnât even known what they were listening to, but once the music comes on, a wave of nostalgia hits you.
You take the CD case you see in the compartment and scan the song list.
âDashboard Confessional?â You read out. âMayday Parade? Something Corporate?â
You go through 2 other CDs and look at both men questioningly.Â
âThese are literally plucked out of my high school playlist that I illegally downloaded,â you state, given that music streaming sites werenât a thing over a decade ago. âWhy do you have them in CDs? And did you even know these songs back then?â
âYes, because we listened to your playlist when you werenât around,â Jimin confesses, earning him a flick on the arm.Â
âYou went through my computer? You were in my room?!â You yell.
âDonât be dramatic,â Jimin rolls his eyes. âIt was a boring room, there was nothing to see. We just wanted your music because they were cool, but Iâd never admit it.â
âIâm sure,â you shake your head. âBut it was my ex, remember? He was a new kid from the US and he got me into these emo rock bands and I thought they were cool, too. He downloaded them illegally for me and I just jammed to those songs all the time even after we broke up.â
âWe know. Jungkook and I could hear it from my bedroom,â Jimin says, âwhich is why we used to sneak in and listen when you werenât around.â
âIs that why you put them in a mixtape? So you could listen to them whenever you wanted?â You ask, turning to Jungkook because between the both of them, heâs definitely the one whoâd know how to do this.
âYeah, Kook. Why did you make these mixtapes when neither of us had a portable CD player⊠but my sister did?â Jimin presses, cocked eyebrow and smug face on display.
Youâre looking at him now, and itâs a curious look that Jungkook canât resist.
âI just thought to put your most played ones in CDs,â he shyly admits, âand uh, planned on giving them to you before you left for college. But I chickened out so I just left them in a box in my room that I brought to Seoul. Iâd forgotten all about it until Jimin raided my studio and found them.â
âYou⊠you made me mixtapes? When you were 15?â You ask.
â___, I think Iâve established enough that I had a huge crush on you when I was a teenager,â he turns to you and laughs.Â
Itâs a little embarrassing even if heâs already dating you. It still feels surreal sometimes, as he thinks of his growing up years and how he always looked forward to sleeping over at Jiminâs place and then catching glimpses of you. There were the times when youâd watch movies with them in the living room, and then heâd help you clean up in the kitchen so he could spend more time with you.
That was over 10 years ago and so much has changed, but the admiration he felt for you never dwindled. There was always that image of you looking happy. He kept that version of you in his mind, even when you had your boyfriends. He just wanted to remember your smile, and now he gets to be the reason for it, like now.
âItâs just⊠itâs very sweet and thoughtful,â you say softly.Â
âI⊠Well⊠I took interest in the things you liked. I guess that happens when you like someone.â
âTold you heâs a romantic,â Jimin nudges you.Â
Between the fairy tattoo he designed and did on your shoulder, the dinner and picnic dates he takes you to despite both your busy schedules, and the way he holds you so close to him whenever and wherever he can, you can definitely say that Jungkook is a romantic.
Itâs only been three months but it feels as if youâve been dating him for longer, given the overflow of affection heâs been giving you. Itâs in the way he always holds your hand and kisses you so passionately. Itâs in his encouraging words and the way he spoils you with the littlest things.Â
Itâs refreshing to be with him. He has boyish charms that have become even sexier with his slightly long hair and the lip ring that he recently got. And whatever heâs wearing, thereâs just something so comfortably sexy about him thatâs both warm and exciting, and you often find yourself swarmed in butterflies whenever he talks about you.
Itâs only been three months but itâs a relationship youâre still slowly being open about. Your friends were definitely surprised. Hoseok fell off the couch with all his body movements; Jin spat out his drink; Yoongi gasped, then followed it up with a teasing smirk; So-Hee and Na-eun gushed over how Jungkook treats you, and took the chance to say how heâs gotten more handsome over the years.Â
You asked them if it was that shocking for you to be dating someone younger - and your brotherâs best friend at that - and while they said it was a bit unexpected, what really got them was how different Jungkook is from your exes. Heâs not some corporate man with ambitions, they pointed out. His life is less structured, too, given his freelancing career and gig at the tattoo parlor. Heâs definitely a lot more laid-back and more casual than theyâre used to.Â
They were short of remarking that Jungkookâs lifestyle isnât as stable and secure as what you normally go for, and they wouldnât be wrong. Itâs a thought youâve had before, and something even he brought up because he didnât want you thinking that he canât keep up with you. But youâd been the one to point out to your friends that stability can come in different forms. With how Jungkook has been so dependable and assuring, thatâs given you more security than you ever thought.Â
But itâs not something thatâs easy to explain. Maybe your friends could understand. Theyâve made careers in different industries, after all, with short term jobs forming part of their resume. But your parents are of a different generation and mindset. Stability for them means one thing, and they raised you to want the same thing in the same way.Â
Which is why itâs already been three months, and you still havenât told them about you and Jungkook.Â
âI started young,â he laughs, pulling you out of your thoughts as he takes your hand and interlocks his fingers with yours. âI used to just choose my moments of romance but with you, Iâm romantic all the time.â
âReally? Does being a flirt count as being romantic?â You cock an eyebrow.
Because thatâs what he is. He likes to tease and call you out when he affects you. He likes to charm and then edge you until youâre pleading for him to do more.Â
âDefinitely! I mean, Iâm out here living my teenage dream, you know?â He winks at you. âNot just anyone gets to say that theyâre dating the person they had a crush on when they were 13.â
âOh god, here we go again,â Jimin groans, earning him a laugh from you and Jungkook.
But even if your brother fake-gags at your not-so private displays of affection, you know deep down that heâs happy for you and his best friend. The two most important people in his life found comfort in each other, and he gets to witness and bask in that.Â
He also gets to brag that it all happened because of him.Â
You spend the next hour jamming to all your favorite emo rock songs because Jungkook wasnât kidding - he really did include all of the ones you had on repeat from your playlist. It takes you back to over 10 years ago of playing the music so loud while youâre in your pajamas, jumping on your bed and singing your lungs out. They donât really remind you of your ex-boyfriend. That was a short-lived relationship that only really had you appreciating the songs he shared and not much more.Â
Your boss doesnât reach out to you until a half hour later. Heâs taken to sending you messages instead, and when he does, youâre back to typing away on your laptop, to the displeasure of both men.Â
They donât call you out this time and instead leave you be. Until, of course, it hinders you from enjoying yourself.
The car has stopped but youâre still on your laptop, double checking figures. Jimin has stepped out after telling you that heâll throw your laptop in the ocean if you donât stop, but Jungkook stays with you inside the car. He bops his head and hums to the music that neither of you could barely hear. He picks on his fingers and yelps at the hangnail he pulls out. He opens the window and shoos away a bug, then hangs out his head to feel the late morning sun.
âKook, you can go out if youâre bored,â you say, your eyes still glued to your screen. âYou donât have to stay with me here.â
âBut I want to,â he responds. âIâm not leaving until you do, not when you said weâre spending the week free from work and stress.â
âI just need to get this done,â you sigh, rechecking your stats for the third time and then aligning the table. âIâll be finished soon.â
âYou said that 15 minutes ago,â he points out, not wanting to sound like heâs complaining, although he might as well be.Â
âItâs justââ
âYouâve done your part, babe. Youâve encoded the figures and cross-checked the targets and objectives. Writing the rest of that report and formatting it isnât your job anymore,â Jungkook says. âYou werenât even supposed to do those. Youâre not on the clock. Youâre on leave, and you deserve this break.â
âI hate that I have to work, too, but itâs not something I just canât do, not when my boss is calling and expecting me to do all this,â you groan.Â
You see his eyebrows furrow and you get defensive.Â
âYou know what, nevermind. You work solo, you answer to no one, you donât have to prove yourself to corporate assholes. You wonât get it.â
You sigh once more and return to reviewing the conclusion, but the sudden silence is unnerving. You glance at Jungkook and see the look on his face - itâs not sadness but disappointment, and itâs one you donât see very often on him.
Youâre about to apologize when he speaks, his voice soft and low, as if speaking is difficult for him.
âI work with so many clients on a daily basis, with more than half of them setting deadlines that they donât even follow and demanding so many things so yes, I get it,â he says. âBut I put my foot down when I need to, because I learned a long time ago that I shouldnât let people walk all over me. I know youâre up against a lot of things and you may feel like your hands are tied but they arenât. A break wonât hurt you. And you know you deserve it. We deserve your attention, too.â
Your heart cracks at his words. Even more at the way he looks, as you see that all he wants is to spend time with you. Heâs been busy, too. Heâs spent the last few nights at his studio, buried deep in his projects because he said he wanted to focus on you this week. And you know that heâll keep his word like he always does. Jungkook is dedicated to his work but he focuses on you when he says he will. Youâre the one not loyal to what you say.
âKook, Iâmââ
âJust do what you have to do,â he interjects, his eyes downcast now. âIâll be outside with Jimin. Come out when youâre done. You like it here, so donât worry. We wonât leave until youâve come down.â
Jungkook exits the car before you can say anything. You watch him walk down the stony path towards the ocean.
You hadnât even realized youâre here.Â
Youâre at Cheongsapo, with the pebble beach just meters away being one you all went to as kids. Jungkookâs older brother used to drive you here during summer, and you all enjoyed the calmness of the place. You used to bet on who would treat ice cream by playing rounds of stone skipping, with Jimin winning every single time. You remember how you and Jungkook taught each other how to do it, and then tag-teamed against your brother so he could finally treat you both that one time.Â
Whenever youâd visit Busan during your college breaks, youâd always come down here with your friends, with Jungkook and Jimin in tow. Youâd visit at sunset and hold out your sparklers, then navigate the terrain at night and laugh about who tripped and slipped on the way back.Â
Jungkookâs right. You like this place. It holds so many memories of your youth, and you find yourself constantly reminiscing, as you try to recall his place in your life back then.Â
You mentally smack yourself. He didnât deserve your dismissal. He didnât deserve the way you spoke to him. Heâs been trying to help, especially with how busy youâve been these past several weeks. You were supposed to work from home while you housesat your parentsâ house but Jimin convinced you to take your untouched leaves when Jungkook decided to come, and then they both called it a mini-break.
And maybe you need it, considering that all this preoccupation with work has caused you to snap at your boyfriend when all he wanted to do was ease your mind.
So you get out of the car and head to him.Â
Thereâs a small forest to pass through and a steep staircase to maneuver, but you manage. You look out to see Jimin already throwing stones and Jungkook standing by, reacting to every gliding pebble on the water. You spare a few seconds to admire him from the back, with his plain white shirt and light gray lounge pants, accentuating a figure that has you weak in the knees. His hands are in his pockets and his slightly long locks are in a half-bun, and he looks every bit of comfort in this place that holds so much of your years growing up.
You walk to where he is and wrap your arms around him from behind. He stills but he doesnât say anything. You savor his natural scent and the way the tips of his hair tickle your face. You bask in the taut figure that somehow softens under your touch. Once you feel him relax a little, you tilt your head and whisper in his ear.Â
âIâm sorry for snapping at you. You didnât deserve that.â
He remains quiet and unmoving. All you can hear are the sounds of the waves and Jiminâs cheering from some meters away.
âI just got caught up with work but Iâm done with it. It wasnât right of me to neglect you when I promised I was gonna take a break and spend time with you,â you continue.
Your voice is low and Jungkook could hear your pout. Just a little bit more and heâll give in.
âYou look so hot today and I just want toââ
âYah!â He whines, finally returning your affection and caressing your arms that are now wrapped around him tightly. âDonât tease me.â
âHmm, that caught your attention, huh?â You giggle, lightly kissing his neck.
He shivers at the act, and he laughs at himself for how whipped he is for you, giving in so quickly.
âYou know it would,â he huffs, turning around to face you now.
You still have that pout and he just wants to kiss it off you.
âHow was walking down the steep staircase?â He asks, knowing that was your only non-favorite thing about this place.Â
âI tripped on a step but Iâm fine,â you proudly smile now.Â
âYou shouldâve called me,â he frowns now.Â
âBut you were upset with me!â
âSo? Doesnât mean I wouldnât help you down the stairs and risk you tripping. You know how those steps are. And the pebbles can sometimes be slippery. You can trip here, too, andâ what?â
âNothing. Youâre sexy when youâre worried about me,â you say nonchalantly.
âUgh, come here,â he groans, pulling you in a hug, one that you fall into immediately. âIâll always worry about you. And Iâll always help you, even if Iâm upset.â
âI know,â you sigh. âIâm sorry again. But Iâve laid off the report now. I told Mr. Soo I shall not be disturbed anymore for the rest of my leave.â
âGood,â Jungkook hums, pulling away to face you now. âBecause I really want to know what you wanted to do.â
âAh, many things, Jeon Jungkook,â you smirk. âBut Iâll maybe settle for this first.â
You lean in and kiss him - deep enough to have him moan against your lips, and you suddenly canât wait until you can do more.
âOh, my eyes!â Jimin squeals, prompting you to look at him with his arm covering his face.
Jungkook only laughs but you scowl at your brother.
âYouâre so dramatic,â you roll your eyes. âYouâve seen worse.â
âAnd Iâve erased that image of my sister and my best friend swallowing each otherâs faces from my mind. Please donât remind me again,â he groans. âBut anyway, are you tolerable again?â
âYes,â you frown. âI think,â you mutter, turning to Jungkook.
âYouâre alright,â he teases, before he wraps his arm around you and pulls you close. âNow Jimin here wants to reassert his dominance as the stone-skipping king. You game for a match?â
âDo I have a choice?â You cock your eyebrow.
âNo. So okay, same rules,â your brother announces. âLoser treats everyone to coffee and pastry. We all know it wonât be me.â
âBrat,â you say under your breath.Â
But heâs not wrong. He dominates and Jungkook ends up losing. The wink he makes tells you he let you win. And though you like to play fair, you wonât lie and say his teasing smirk definitely turned you on.
You spend the rest of your morning enjoying iced coffee while overlooking the beach, then you head to your favorite seafood restaurant for lunch. You go to your usual market for ingredients for the week, including tonightâs dinner that your mother will be preparing. She wanted to cook for all of you before they flew out, she said, and that got you excited.Â
Itâs refreshing to walk through the streets and spots of your childhood and reminisce with your brother and boyfriend. The memories take on different forms this time, as Jungkook tells you things from his perspective.Â
You remember that one time you scolded them for sneaking out on a school night and then picking them up at an alley with Jin driving you. Jungkook says he liked how caring and understanding you were then; you said youâd cover for them after flicking their foreheads.Â
Thereâs that summer when you got your friends to buy from Jimin and Jungkookâs ice pop stand so they could buy these skateboards that neither of your parents wanted to get for them. Jungkook recalls how you complimented his recipe and told everyone he made them so that theyâd praise him, too.Â
Thereâs that winter when, after your brotherâs begging, you had him and Jungkook join you and your friendsâ bonfire night at one of your secret beach spots. Jungkook points out that you always made sure that as the youngest ones there, they were warm and well-fed.Â
And then there were their sleepovers when youâd join them play video games and watch horror movies in the living room. Jungkook gushes at how pretty you looked and how youâd always prepare them popcorn and drinks. He outs you as the one who puts the blanket over him and Jimin when they fall asleep on the couch.Â
âI tend to forget a lot of things but I remember when theyâre about you,â he mumbles as he starts the drive to your house. âItâs just always stuck with me. Please donât be weirded out.â
You giggle but assure him that you arenât. You understand him - there are things and people and moments that naturally stick with you, and theyâre the ones you hold dear, too.Â
He was a kid with a crush and his attention was often on you, and you suppose that given how youâd felt comfortable around him then, it was also maybe natural that youâd feel the same way now that youâre both older. It just so happened that he ended up looking as attractive as he did, and thatâs just an added bonus.Â
Jungkook drops you and Jimin home before he drives three blocks away to his parentsâ house. Heâll greet them first before heading to your place, he says, excited for your momâs cooking that he always enjoyed.Â
Itâs been some time since you last saw them. They donât always drive out to Seoul, only doing so to watch Jiminâs shows, and you havenât had time to go home, either. Plus, you had an injured brother to take care of, and heâs also really the topic of every conversation youâve had with them these past months.Â
And there are no bad feelings there. Heâs had injuries and illnesses that had them worried, and youâre pretty much as unproblematic and predictable as any eldest child could get. You think youâre that monotonous or unexciting, too, and you suppose that just meant they didnât feel the need to check on you as much as they did with Jimin.
But you express your longing once they offer you their hugs. You say how you miss your momâs cooking and your dadâs baking, which is code for saying that youâve missed them, too.Â
You get your stuff to your room and sigh in relief at the comfort it still gives you. Not much has changed between your double bed, your desk, your beanbag, and the large cork board of photos on your wall. You pin the Polaroids from earlier, deciding to keep the ones of you and Jungkook for your place back in Seoul.Â
You huff this time, unsure how youâll open the discussion of you dating your younger brotherâs best friend to your parents. Theyâve known him since he was a kid; they watched him get into all kinds of trouble with their son, and were there for his milestones, too.Â
Jungkook was always Jiminâs partner-in-crime; they were two peas in a pod who went through everything together. Now itâs you and him and you donât really know how theyâll take it.Â
But you brush it off for now and think itâs a conversation for later, or maybe when they come back from their trip. You intended on telling them in person, which is why theyâre still in the dark. Itâs just a matter of how youâll say it.
You head downstairs and take in the scent of seafood soft tofu stew. The two boys are already at the kitchen counter, munching on the rolled omelet that they shouldnât even be having yet. But your mom lets them, as Jimin talks about his new agency and shows videos of him doing some choreographies.
You stand next to Jungkook, who sneakily feeds you. You donât know why you get flustered at the act, even more when he whispers in your ear.Â
âSo, I finally get to see your room with your permission,â he cheekily smiles. âI promised Jimin a few rounds of Overwatch before going to you.â
You merely laugh and tell him that your dadâs asking him something.
âSo, Jungkook. How has work been? Jimin tells us youâve been getting more projects recently,â your old man asks.Â
âAh, yes, uncle,â he responds. âIâm getting more clients and exposure now. It took a while but itâs all going well.â
âThatâs good. Although I always wondered why you never thought of joining a firm. Doesnât that mean a more consistent client base? And better for you financially, too.â
âWell, I get to choose my clients and my projects as a freelancer,â Jungkook explains. âI control my time. And it allows me to take appointments at the tattoo parlor.â
âOh, right, your hobby,â your dad nods. âI guess having multiple sources of income is the new trend these days.â
Jungkook just hums in agreement, already used to your dadâs frame of thought when it comes to a career. So are you, because itâs often the first thing he picks up on with your boyfriends. Each of your partners just happened to be working in corporate so there was never this line of questioning followed by an awkward silence.Â
But Jungkook is just your brotherâs best friend, as far as they know. You wonder how theyâd react once you finally tell them the truth.
You donât completely fault your dad, though. Itâs less about judgment and more about practicality. He and your mom came from the generation that believed survival and security mattered more than passion. They always thought the latter could come later on in life, which is why they opened their own cafe not long ago, at a time when they were already pretty secure. You suppose itâs his way of looking out for you, which is why heâs always been concerned about your partnerâs occupation.
The conversation changes, as the focus now turns to your parents and what theyâve been up to. You assist your mom in the kitchen while the men hang around, helping when theyâre called upon. Jungkook stands near you, asking if you need him and attempting to feed you with a dumpling this time, but you manage to feed yourself and he merely looks at you in understanding.
Dinner is finally ready and you all head to the dining table. You take the seat next to your mom, across from Jungkook, and he looks at you curiously but you offer him an apologetic smile. You only told him that youâll tell your parents about your relationship in person, which you planned on doing.Â
That is, until your parents bring up your friends.
âSweetie, Jinâs son is so adorable,â your mom chirps. âI saw the pictures on Facebook and the little one took after his father so much. I can imagine how happy he and his wife are.â
The topic of your dear friend and his family injects energy into you. You say how Jinâs been bragging about his mini-me but that the nursery you helped put together looks so beautiful. You were all there when his wife gave birth a few weeks ago and though youâre still unsure about having kids, you wonât deny how much it warmed your heart when Seo-yoonâs tiny fingers wrapped around your thumb. Itâs not something you say though, as your mom eventually mentions Na-eun and her fiancĂ©.Â
âI read that heâs been promoted as Director of their company,â she says.Â
Your dad pipes in that So-Heeâs new boyfriend is apparently the son of one of his former colleagues, and youâre quite frankly over the conversations about your friendsâ partners. The insinuations arenât lost on you.
âHow do you even know these things?â You groan.
âFacebook,â your mom replies. âOf course Iâm friends with all your friends. And itâs nice to know how well theyâre doing since we donât get to see them much anymore. Youâve reached that age of settling down, after all.â
âI guess,â you hum, no longer interested in the conversation. Jiminâs roll of his eyes tells you he feels the same. âLots of good things are happening for them.â
You donât mean to sound bitter and you arenât. You adore your friends and genuinely love that things are looking out for them. Youâre not the same person from months ago who felt lost and falling behind amongst them. Sure, things could be better career-wise, but you havenât felt this much security in yourself and your relationship until Jungkook. Explaining why is a different thing altogether.
âWhat about you?â Your dad asks. âI know weâve been calling every week to ask about your brother but we havenât been checking in on you. Iâm sorry, dear,â he continues, his eyes softening. âIs there anything new in your life?â
If the earlier conversations hadnât happened, perhaps youâd willingly hint on the newest thing in your life, which is the relationship you have with the man currently looking at you with his doe-eyes in anticipation.Â
But they did, and you know mentioning your friendsâ partners was their way of subtly pressuring you about being with someone of similar stature. And youâre not really in the mood for that right now.Â
So you end up doing the stupidest thing you possibly could, and thatâs to lie.Â
âNot really,â you say, hating the prolonged silence that follows.Â
And as you look at Jungkook across from you, you see his face fall, and you hate even more that itâs because of you.Â
Your lack of a follow-up prompts your parents to move on. They know that when youâre in the mood to talk, you will and when youâre quite passive, it means you arenât.Â
Your mom turns to Jungkook instead and asks him what else heâs up to other than his various jobs and looking after Jimin. He looks at you before his gaze shifts towards them.
âNot much else, auntie,â he replies.Â
The crack of your heart knows you completely messed up, because if it stings like this, then you know it hurt him even more.
âOh, is there no one special in your life?â She asks, as she often does. Given that she treats Jungkook as part of the family, sheâs lost all filter when it comes to him, too. âI recently met with my friend and her daughter. Sheâs such a lovely young woman, Kook, sheâs brilliant and oh so charming. Sheâs in Busan for the week, too. Do you want toââ
âIs it time for dessert?â Jimin butts in, not wanting this conversation to continue.Â
He knows Jungkook wouldnât know how to turn your mother down, and if he even slightly entertains the idea to appease her, youâd be the one upset, even if you technically put this upon yourself. Jimin already sees you a bit uncomfortable, and if thereâs anything he can do to not make this worse for you and his best friend, itâs to be a brat.Â
âOh, yes. Your father made an apple pie and some ice cream,â she says. âLet meââ
âIâll get it,â you offer, standing up from your seat now.
You donât want to know what your momâs other propositions would be. Youâre sure sheâll find some personâs son to match you with, given that sheâs done that a few times after your breakup with Namjoon. Youâre also not ready for Jungkook to agree with her about meeting someone, even if you know he wonât mean it.
Which is really stupid because if youâd just told them the truth, then youâll be having a completely different conversation, although youâre unsure if youâre ready for that one, too. But at least Jungkook wouldnât look as upset as he does right now, as heâs resorted to picking on his food instead of finishing it, which tells you that heâs lost his appetite and thatâs never a good thing.Â
You go to the kitchen to slice the pie and scoop the ice cream. You do it so slowly to lengthen the time before youâre back there, only because you donât want to know what else theyâre talking about.Â
Youâre in the middle of cursing yourself when you feel the sting of a tiny pinch on your arm, and you yelp in pain and smack your brotherâs chest in reflex.
âOw!â You yell, frowning at the man before you and ignoring your motherâs order to âbehave,â even if theyâre used to you two quarreling.Â
âYou deserve that,â Jimin scowls at you. âBecause what the fuck was that?!â
âI know,â you sigh, glancing at Jungkook whoâs trying his best to be interested in what your parents are saying. âI⊠froze. You know what they wanted to hear, Chim. All those things about my friendsâ boyfriends and what they do? I just didnât want them to compare them to what Jungkook does if I tell them.â
âWhy, whatâs wrong with what he does?â Your brother raises an eyebrow.
âNothing. Itâs just⊠you know how focused they are on career stability and shit like that,â you try to explain. âYou heard what dad was telling him earlier. I just didnât want Jungkook to hear any underhanded comments from them and then feel bad about it.â
âAnd you think denying that youâre dating is any better?â He chides. âThatâs literally worse!â
âIââ
âJungkook knows how our parents are. And after you got together, he already anticipated that theyâd question how heâll be able to sustain your life together once you told them about your relationship,â Jimin explains. âHe was ready for it. I doubt he anticipated thisâŠâ
You stand there, the crack in your heart getting deeper and bigger as the seconds pass. You hadnât realized that Jungkook was already confiding in Jimin about any concerns heâd have about facing your parents. You suppose he would, given that you said youâd tell them when you saw them the one time that Jungkook asked if they knew, and you didnât raise it again after. Living in your bubble together seemed more important, and youâd forgotten to mentally prepare yourself for this conversation.
âChim, I fucked up,â you pout.Â
If it were about anything else, Jimin would push it. Itâs how you always were, and youâve reached that point in your relationship where you could call each other out and know it comes from a good place. But he doesnât want to do this today, not when youâre already sad and guilty and he doesnât want you to feel worse. He doesnât want to take sides, even if heâll admit that you were in the wrong, but he doesnât want to antagonize you either.
âHey,â he nudges your arm. âItâs not the end of the world. Youâre both gonna figure it out. I donât know how hard heâll take this but heâs a really soft-hearted person, so just⊠keep that in mind, okay?â
You nod, wanting to believe that youâll be able to fix it.Â
âAnd donât hate yourself too much,â your brother adds. âHeâs really, really into you. I just know he wonât be able to resist you.â
You nod again but you think that just makes it worse. You doubt he expected that out of all the people to disappoint him, it would be you. Yet here you are.Â
You and Jimin return to the table with the plated desserts. You hand one to Jungkook but he doesnât acknowledge you. He doesnât meet your eyes either when itâs all you try to do. He peacefully eats his apple pie while you feign interest at your parents talking about their recent weekend at a spa.Â
When everyoneâs done, he helps Jimin clean up. Itâs how you know that Jungkookâs considered part of the family, as your parents donât stop him from doing so, unlike when it comes to other guests or your friends.Â
You watch helplessly as he washes the dishes, turning down your offer to help. You take the rest of the plates and walk towards him instead, standing close so you could place them in the sink. He just moves his arms to give you space then returns to his task, not sparing you a glance.Â
You stay with your parents in the dining area to talk about their trip. They leave you with important documents and give you instructions should anything bad happen to them while theyâre away, as they always do whenever they go on a trip. Everything is your responsibility as the eldest, they remind you.Â
They finally go to their room to continue packing and you sit on the corner of the couch where Jimin and Jungkook have just finished watching some video of a guy reacting to other videos. You constantly glance at your boyfriend but he seems to be intent on not giving you attention because heâs not like this - he always wants to be close to you, needing his hand to be touching your arm or your thigh or even your hair, and his pretty eyes locked on you. But not tonight.
You recall how months ago, you avoided him because of what you started to feel. And perhaps this is how he felt then - helpless, unsure, and desperate for you to be next to him again.Â
You find the tiniest bit of courage and call out his name, hoping heâd at least turn to you this time.Â
âKook, Iâmââ
âHey, we should probably play now so we finish early,â Jungkook nudges Jiminâs knee. âItâs been a long day; I donât really want to stay up late.â
Your brother looks at you in apology as he responds to the man on his left in agreement. They both head up, leaving you rooted in your seat, wishing that Jungkook would turn around to tell you that he doesnât mean creating this distance, but he doesnât.Â
And you wouldnât blame him. Youâd stay away from you, too.
You end up watching Aliens on your own, crouched on your corner of the couch with the large blanket over you. You give up after an hour, once the movie starts getting intense and scary though. Thereâs no Jungkook to hold you during the jumpscares, or to tease you about your screaming, or to assure you that heâll protect you from all types of monsters.Â
Thereâs no Jungkook next to you but you want him there, and itâs another half hour later when you decide that youâre not going to bed without speaking to him.Â
You hate sleeping sad and upset. You donât like ending the day not being on good terms with him. There are so many things you want to tell him but more than anything, you just want to hold him close. He always said he liked that, because even during the times when thereâs so much to say or feel, falling into each otherâs arms is the easiest thing to do. It says enough. It shows enough. And youâve both survived misunderstandings and stressful moments by holding each other, and then holding each other closer.
Walking up the stairs and towards Jiminâs room, the nerves kick in. Jungkook has been ignoring you the whole evening and youâre unsure if heâs willing to hear you out.Â
But you try, as you knock on the door, your heart beating fast when it slowly opens. Your brotherâs downcast eyes meet you and you donât need to say anything else.Â
He opens the door wider then turns to the man lying on a mattress on the floor.
âKook, my sisterâs looking for you.â
You glance at him, dressed in that black tank top that always made you breathless, but once again, he avoids your gaze. But he does stand up after a nudge on the foot from your brother and walks over to you.
âCan we, uhâŠâ you gesture towards the room just across the hallway.
He doesnât say anything but he doesnât shut you out, which is a good thing. You take it as your cue to start walking and you hear his footsteps right behind you.Â
You let him in then close the door behind him. Thereâs so much you want to say, like youâre sorry and that you were stupid, that you didnât mean to deny him but that you didnât know how to tell your parents, or what you were even nervous about. You want to say that you just want to spend tonight wrapped up in his arms and apologizing in all the ways that you can.
But instead of uttering the words, your throat dries up. Seeing him standing there with that upset and disinterested look on his face breaks you a little. So you reach out, your hands pressing gently on his chest to try to feel him, to be close to him, hopefully to hold him and make your mistake go away.Â
âKook, IâŠâ you tremble, trying so hard to find the words.
Jungkook looks back at you, your face nervous and unsure, unlike his thatâs probably still painted with disappointment.Â
He still doesnât know what to make of your denial. Heâs been trying to see things from your point of view all evening, but doing so only in his head because verbalizing them, especially to his best friend, makes it sting a bit more. Maybe Jimin can explain on your behalf but that would just confirm to Jungkook one of two things - that you donât really intend on telling your parents about both of you for whatever reason he canât comprehend, or you donât think he measures up to their expectations and for that, you might just think heâs not good enough for you.Â
He doesnât think heâs ready for that, so he shuts Jimin down when he asks. They watched videos earlier to have something to laugh about but he was faking it. He suggested playing a game just so he wouldnât respond to you calling him earlier but all theyâve done since going to the room is lie in silence.Â
Jungkook doesnât want to talk about it with his best friend. And he certainly doesnât want to talk about it with you. He doesnât want an explanation right now. Itâs not what he wants to hear.Â
And it seems as if itâs something youâre even struggling to give him, as you stand there quivering, your hands slowly trying to pull him closer to you.Â
Itâs what you usually do when you canât find the words to express something - when youâre stressed and frustrated, when you want to patch things up after a small misunderstanding, when you want his comfort. And he always loved it when you did. He always willingly gave you that hug and that kiss and those whispers of âitâs okayâ and âweâre okayâ and âIâm just here.âÂ
But not tonight, not when thereâs this unnamed thing thatâs eating him inside, and not even you can fix it.Â
âI donât⊠I donât really wanna do this right now,â he mutters, taking your hands to slowly slide them off him.Â
The look of hurt in your eyes is one thatâll probably haunt him for a while, but heâll learn to deal with that. Itâs better than talking with you about something that you donât even know how to express.Â
This isnât like him. Itâs not like him to be upset at you like this, to not want to comfort you, to not want to be around you. This messes him up, too, and all he can do is step away and walk out.
He doesnât really wanna be here, he thinks to himself as he enters the room just across, to the surprise of Jimin who half expected both of you to have made up. Jungkook would go home if he only brought his keys and it wasnât too late to ask his parents to open the door for him.
But his best friendâs floor mattress will do for now. And so Jungkook puts on his earpods and plays whatever music is loud enough to shut out the thought of you until he falls asleep.Â
In the other room, you lay in your bed in complete silence. You donât want to cry, only because heâs not there to wipe your tears away. And you donât ever want to know what thatâs like, so you donât. You keep the tears at bay and force yourself to drift away.Â
You jerk awake the next morning to your mother knocking on your door. You promised to do errands with her today, so you get off the bed and yell out that youâll just fix up.
âNo rush, dear. Iâm still having breakfast with your father. You can join us when youâre ready.â
You head down and eat the pastries that they brought from the cafe. You donât have much appetite and these will suffice, but your mind goes to Jungkook and how he was craving kimchi fried rice and spam yesterday.Â
So thatâs what you make for him and Jimin. You even prepare iced coffee the way they like it. Youâre about to set the dish aside for them to heat up when you hear rushed footsteps down the stairs and you know theyâve woken up.
âWahhh, it smells so good,â Jimin exclaims as he walks over to the counter while his best friend sits on the table. âDid you make something, dad?â
âOh, your sister cooked for you and Jungkook,â your father hums. âItâs making me hungry now.â
âThereâs still some in here if you want,â you call out, with him responding that heâll get some later.
You serve the dish in two bowls. You hand one to Jimin and then place the other in front of Jungkook without sparing him a glance.Â
âIced coffee is in the refrigerator,â you tell them.Â
You hear Jiminâs little squeal before he gets them. âWhere you off to?â He asks.
âIâm running errands with mom.â
âMake sure you two make it in time for dinner, okay?â Your father says.
âOf course. I canât miss your steak, dad,â you give him a small smile.Â
âGood. I prepared meat good enough for five Actually, six. I count Jungkook as two people,â he laughs.Â
The thought of this comfort and familiarity hurts you because youâre the one who made Jungkook think otherwise. You see him smile at your fatherâs remark but you turn away when he looks your way. You know heâs still upset and you donât want to force it if heâs not yet ready to speak with you. You also havenât gotten over the way he pulled away from you last night, and so looking at him today is a little difficult.
âYouâre still joining us at the party, right?â Jimin asks.Â
Their friend, Hari, whom you know briefly dated Jungkook in high school, is celebrating her birthday tonight. Their group always looked to you as the cool sister so youâre always invited to whatever theyâve got going, and while the three of you talked about attending later, after what you did, you doubt Jungkook would want you to spoil his evening. Youâre also not exactly in the partying mood for obvious reasons.
âIâll pass, Chim,â you respond. âYou guys should have a best friend night.â
You go back to your room to fix up before joining your mother to head out.Â
Back in the dining room, Jimin nudges Jungkookâs knee.
âSheâs still playing favorites,â he playfully rolls his eyes as he gestures to the generous amount of spam in his best friendâs bowl compared to his decent serving.Â
Jungkook just hums, guilt forming that he didnât even thank you for this because he really has been craving it. Before any of them could say anything more, your father speaks up.
âYour sister okay, son?â
âUh, yeah? Why wouldnât she be?â Jimin nervously answers.
âShe just doesnât seem like herself, thatâs all,â your old man replies.
âMaybe itâs work. Itâs been tough lately,â your brother reasons.Â
âBut sheâs more tired and frustrated when it comes to work but thatâs not what she is. Maybe itâs a guy.â
At this, Jungkook chokes on his food, and heâs glad your father doesnât react.
âWhat makes you think so?â Jimin asks, his eyes flitting to his best friend.
âHmm, it just seems different,â your father insists. âOr maybe itâs just wishful thinking on my end. She hasnât introduced anyone since Namjoon. And I wish she would, just so we know sheâs moved on, you know? And that the breakup isnât still hurting her.â
âShe has, and it doesnât affect her anymore,â Jimin confirms, certain of at least that bit.
âThen why hasnât she introduced anyone yet?â
âMaybe itâs because you really liked Namjoon, and he seems to be your standard so ___ is just probably just taking her time.â
âWell itâs because heâs smart and stable and very self-assured andââ
âAlso very much married. And a soon-to-be father,â Jimin interjects, already being protective of you.Â
He wonders now if this is how your parents talk about him to you, and that youâve always just protected him from all of it.
âOh,â your father sighs. âIt couldâve been her.â
âBut it isnât and thatâs totally fine,â Jimin exclaims. âSheâs young and sheâs got time. And who knows, maybe thatâs not the life she wants, or at least not yet? If you could accept my version of happiness, you should be able to accept hers, too. And what does âstableâ even mean?â
âSomeone with ambition, with a direction,â your old man explains. âSomeone whoâs secure and financially capable of sustaining this good life that your mom and I gave you both.â
âThose are all the things she is, too, you know?â Jimin frowns. âAnd also, I love you, dad, but youâre old. By that I mean your thinking is old. Itâs outdated. You think stability is about prestige and money and I get that but⊠thatâs not everything. There are other things that matter to her and if you lessened the pressure a bit, youâd see that. Sheâs your daughter, donât you want her to be happy? To be loved?â
âOf course I do,â your father sighs.Â
âWell then donât let your version of what a good partner is dictate her life,â Jimin advises. âSheâs a grown up, she knows what she wants and how to get it. But sheâs also your daughter who doesnât want to worry or disappoint you. What if sheâs found someone who makes her happy and treats her right but sheâs nervous of what youâd think because of all these expectations you have of her?â
Jiminâs eyes flit to his best friend again whoâs quietly munching on his food but is clearly taking in this exchange. While Jimin still thinks you were wrong to deny your relationship, he at least hopes that Jungkook could understand what was going through your mind and it was all this.Â
âWell if she has then Iâd want to meet him,â your father insists.Â
âAnd maybe you will, once she stops feeling the pressure of what sheâs supposed to be for you and who sheâs supposed to date,â Jimin explains.Â
âI guess youâre right.â
âOf course Iâm right, dad,â Jimin groans. âI lived with her for months and she just⊠she worries about a lot of things. It would be nice if she doesnât worry about this. So please, stop with all the projections and underhanded remarks, okay? She sees right through you. Just let her live her life.â
A smile forms on your fatherâs face. It was never his intention to put all that pressure on you but he supposes you just accepted that it comes with the territory. But he realizes it shouldnât be. His sonâs right - heâs old. He and your mother worked hard so that you and your brother could have a life where you didnât have to worry about anything, but he supposes the intention got muddled along the way. At least you and Jimin have each other.
âI know you and your sister donât like to admit it but itâs really touching to see how similar you both are,â your father says.
âExcuse me, Iâm cooler and funnier and definitely more talented,â Jimin pouts.Â
âMaybe,â your old man laughs. âBut sheâs sat on that same chair, lecturing me and your mom about letting you live your life and now youâre doing the same. Sheâs your biggest advocate and your biggest protector. Itâs just nice to see how youâre the same for her.â
Running errands with your mother has always been your responsibility, but itâs once youâve hit your late-twenties mark that youâve come to appreciate it.Â
You learn a lot about the practical stuff like insurance and emergency funds and inheritance when you accompany her to the bank. Youâre also reminded that sometimes you have to spend more to make things last when she drops off her clothes at the laundry service and picks up the bag and shoes she had professionally cleaned. You also remember the important things like buying flowers and leaving them on your grandparentsâ graves.Â
Youâve just left the shopping center after she bought your father an anniversary gift, and her excitement over the satchel and perfume she got him has you smiling. You wonder how differently she feels for him 30 years later, and if this life they have together is everything she imagined it to be.
âWas it hard at the beginning? Being married to dad?â You ask.Â
âOf course, dear,â she answers. âBecause itâs how marriages typically go. Your father and I were together for two years before we got married and it was a big change. You just⊠learn to consider another person, and you get used to someone always being around you.â
âItâs a good thing you can stand each other then,â you chuckle.Â
âThatâs true,â she laughs back. âYouâd be surprised to know how many married couples canât. But we just always managed. And we had to be on each otherâs side, you know? Itâs the reason why weâve lasted as long as we have.â
She looks quite emotional as she says the words and itâs probably because of what theyâll be celebrating soon but she turns to you with a smile.
âYour fatherâs parents wanted me to become a housewife, a stay-at-home mom who just ran the household,â she continues. âBut I wanted to work so I could help my parents, and your father stood by my decision. He saw how working gave him financial freedom and he wanted that for me, too. And we just⊠worked hard. We fought a lot at the start because we were building our careers and raising a family but we knew it would all be worth it, as long as we stood by each other.â
âThen I suppose thatâs whatâs important in a partner, isnât it?â You say. âBeing dependable, being supportive, not⊠not what kind of career they have.â
âWell, a stable career helps,â she points out. âI mean, itâs how your father and I got to afford sending you and your brother to good schools. Itâs how we could afford trips as a family and how your father and I can be secure at this age without needing much help from our children.â
âBut thatâs also because you worked hard, plain and simple. And you and dad had each other and overcame whatever challenges you faced together. You canât say the same for all married couples,â you push.Â
âThatâs true. I mean, it wasnât like this during our parentsâ time. I guess people had less options then. The worldâs changed so much, hasnât it?â
âIt has,â you hum. âNot everyone cares much about their partnerâs upward mobility and stuff like that. They want to savor the good life their parents gave them. And because they work hard, too, they just want someone to enjoy it with them. You know, like me.â
Thereâs a beat of silence as your mother processes your words.Â
âIs that why it didnât work out with Namjoon?â She asks, reminding you that youâd only given them a general reason as to why things ended.
âWe spent too much time planning for our future that we kinda lost our way,â you explain. âI guess thatâs when I realized that I wanted someone to enjoy the moments with, regardless of what they do for a living. And weâll never know what life will throw our way and I need someone whoâll stand by me, the way Iâll stand by them. You know, cheesy things like that.â
You smile to yourself as you think about Jungkook and his shameless affection that he shows in so many ways. You enjoy the cheesiness but youâll deny it first before admitting it. But then again, he probably knows already. He pays attention to you after all.Â
âWell, I suppose thatâs why we wanted to give you and your brother a good and secure life, so that you can enjoy it,â your mother hums.
âExactly. You raised us well, mom. Weâre not gonna throw our lives away, however we choose to live it, and with whom,â you assure her.Â
She gives you a warm smile. She takes your hand at the stoplight and caresses it. Perhaps itâs the assurance you need, too.
You return home to your father preparing the meat for tonightâs dinner. Thereâs a platter of steak, vegetables, and sausages that heâs seasoning to grill, and you can imagine how happy this is gonna make Jungkook. He always liked it when your dad prepared dishes like this paired with your momâs spicy chicken soup, and you wish you could enjoy it together.Â
But youâre giving him space to feel what he feels and youâre doing the same, even if all you want to do is apologize. You havenât had an issue quite like this, so things are a little unfamiliar to you. You tried to talk to him last night but he wasnât ready, and youâre unsure when he will be.Â
You head towards the counter and cut up the vegetables for the soup before slicing the fruits. Youâre focused on your task, knowing how sharp the knives are, but itâs at the same time that your brother and Jungkook arrive. Seeing your boyfriend look as good as he does in that denim jacket-over tank top fit is so sinful; itâs a crime youâre not talking that it distracts you, and itâs what causes you to slice through your finger and yelp in pain.
âDid you hurt yourself, dear?â Your mom asks as she stirs the pot.Â
âYeah,â you say, placing your hand under running water.
Youâre about to ask Jimin to get the First Aid kit from the drawer but Jungkook gets to it first, knowing where it is.Â
He knows that your brother, whoâs terrified of blood, wonât help you, and despite your situation, Jungkook canât stand not helping. So he lathers an antiseptic once the bleeding has stopped, then he wraps a band-aid around it. Just like him, you focus your gaze on your finger. Or maybe youâre stuck on the way he tends to you. Or the fact that this is the most physical touch youâve done this past day when you normally canât take your hands off each other.Â
He sighs to himself. If he wasnât so hung up on his hurt feelings, heâd be able to tend to you better. This might not even have happened if heâd just spoken to you last night.Â
But he shakes the thought away. Heâs still upset. But heâll always want to take care of you; thatâs the one thing that wonât ever change.
âThank you,â you mumble, still not meeting his eyes.
âIâll do this,â he says, waiting for you to step aside before he takes your place.Â
âJungkook dear, do you mind helping me with the glazed potatoes after you finish that?â She asks.
âSure thing, auntie,â he replies.Â
You watch him work around the kitchen the way heâs done so many times before, and your heart stings at the sight because you want to be doing this with him, with your parents, in your family kitchen. But itâs not like you could talk to him right now, not when you donât know how to say what you want to say. So you head outside to where your dad is grilling the meat and help him instead.Â
Itâs not long after when dinner is ready, and youâre seated across Jungkook again. Itâs a little tense when you look at him when he looks away, but Jimin thankfully finds a way to keep the conversation light and focused on him.
Your parents insist that both men donât need to help clean up, and Jimin asks you if youâre really not going.
âYeah Iâll just⊠stay home, make sure mom and dad are packed well and just get everything in order for tomorrow,â you say, half lying.Â
âGee, you make me look like a useless child,â Jimin pouts.
âYouâre alright,â you hum. âYou can drive them to the airport tomorrow.â
âBut mom asked Jungkook to do that.â
âWell then you could just⊠make them a card or something,â you shrug.Â
Your brother sticks his tongue at you and you do the same.Â
âFine, weâll head out,â he announces.
âYou guys have fun,â you say softly, glancing at Jungkook before walking towards the sink to do your duty.Â
You turn to your brother. âCall me if you need me to pick you up. No driving drunk, okay?â
He salutes you in response then heads out after Jungkook.
Itâs uneventful after that. You help your parents with last minute packing then have a long shower. You lie on your bed and mindlessly watch some movie on your laptop hoping that youâll fall asleep soon, and that when you wake up, youâll find the strength to go to Jungkook and tell him that youâre sorry and that you donât want to go another day without him.Â
âHey, Jungkook. Dance with me.â
Jungkook looks up to find Hari and gives the same answer heâs given the last two times.
âSorry, Iâm injured,â he says.Â
She raises her eyebrow as if she doesnât believe him and he canât blame her; he doesnât exactly know how to act like it.
âOh, Jimin. There you are,â she chirps as the said man approaches the table. âDance with me.â
âSorry, I'm injured.â
âGreat. Itâs my birthday and I spot two hot guys in this party without girls around them and theyâre fake injured,â she scowls. âWhatâs up with you two?â
âIâm not in the mood,â Jungkook shrugs.
âIâm babysitting,â Jimin says, gesturing at his friend. âBut Mingyu and Eunwoo are right there. Go tell them to dance with you.â
âFine. Iâll get in line then,â she rolls her eyes then walks away.
âHow come no one believes me when I say Iâm injured?â Jungkook asks as he munches on the fried chicken wings his best friend got.
âBecause youâre a terrible actor. People believe me because Iâm believable,â Jimin hums.
âThey believe you because you posted all over social media that you hurt your ankle,â Jungkook corrects.Â
âYeah but that was like, half a year ago.â
âWhy are you even pretending youâre injured? You donât have to stay with me, you know? Go to the dance floor and have fun. Thatâs your thing.â
âWell, maybe Iâm also not in the mood because my best friendâs sulking,â Jimin frowns.Â
âGee, I wonder why.â
âYou know my sisterâs sorry, right?â
âSheâs ashamed, thatâs what she is. And Iâm just supposed to live with that.â
Jimin sighs as he watches his best friend mindlessly stare out onto the dance floor. Jungkookâs probably trying to rid himself of the image of both of you dancing and kissing and having fun if you were here. He could be making sense of what he feels, or his mind could also just be completely blank right now.
But what Jimin knows is that another glass of whiskey is something that Jungkook shouldnât be having, so he stops his best friend from ordering another one.
âYou might get drunk and then youâll call or go see her and then youâll say things youâll regret and then youâll hurt her and youâll get even more hurt and youâll have a harder time fixing things and then it just wonât stop and youâll feel stupid because youâre not talking over something you could easily fix,â Jimin heaves.Â
Itâs a lot to process but Jungkook knows that Jiminâs right. Heâll just get too emotional and wonât be able to control himself and despite what he feels, hurting you is the last thing he wants.
So he orders water instead, finishes it, then heads for the door.
âI donât wanna be here anymore,â he says. âI need to get some air.â
They end up at a park, the one that you used to hang at with your friends in high school. Jungkook knows because he always accompanied Jimin there when youâd tell him where to meet you. Itâs peaceful at this time of night and much more beautiful, too. Itâs no surprise he keeps thinking that youâre right next to him, with your head on his chest and laughing at his jokes.Â
âWhy is this affecting me so much?â He wonders out loud. âWhy am I so hurt and so stubborn?â
âBecause she said something she shouldnât have. But also because you put her on a pedestal,â Jimin answers. âShe made a mistake, and youâre free to fault her for it. I mean, anytime someone we care about hurts us, it sucks like hell. But you also have to think that maybe itâs affecting you as much as it does because sheâs always been faultless in your eyes and she isnât.â
The reality is a slap on the face, but one that Jungkook thinks he needs to have. You were everything he ever wanted and these past three months have been a bliss. But now that reality hits and you have to face the pressure thatâs part of your life, your humanness is showing. And thatâs what heâs always liked about you, isnât it? The imperfections and the flaws? Now that those are affecting him, itâs affecting him hard, and heâs having a hard time getting over it.
âMaybe once you accept that sheâs human and not just the dream youâve had since forever, then youâll realize that things like that happen but she never means to hurt you,â Jimin adds. âYou canât think that she does. You learn to work it out by facing it, Kook. You have to talk about it. You have to tell her it hurts and you have to listen to what she says, and then you forgive. Thatâs kind of how grownup relationships go.â
âGuess Iâve never had one before, huh?â
âMaybe they just didnât mean enough to hurt you.â
âThis means everything, then,â Jungkook sighs, as things get clearer in his mind. âBecause I think what hurts more now is not being next to her.â
âGreat! Then can both of you patch things up now?â Jimin beams, feeling hopeful. âI hate seeing both of you sad and so stupid. Plus, my parents are leaving tomorrow and you wonât have a buffer anymore. So please just talk.â
Jungkook admits feeling touched. He knows at the end of the day, Jimin cares about him and you more than anyone, and he probably misses being around both of you at the same time. Jungkook does, too, but he misses you the most and itâs only been a day.
âTomorrow,â he says. âI donât know what to tell her and itâs late. She might be asleep andââ
âNow youâre just making excuses,â Jimin crosses his arms.
âWell, what if I expect her to be the one to talk to me?â
âShe tried but you didnât want to, remember?â
âThat was last night. The wound was still fresh,â Jungkook pouts.Â
âOh god. I feel like Iâm dealing with children,â Jimin groans.
âImagine how we felt taking care of you,â Jungkook answers back.
âAt least I was just one person,â Jimin rolls his eyes.Â
âYour dramatics were equivalent to two people though.â
Both men bicker as they walk back to the car. It started to drizzle so they decided to go back to their respective homes. Jungkook could stay over at your place and maybe talk to you if he really wants to but heâs seriously just chickening out over it.Â
Heâs never had to make up with you because none of your previous arguments ever led to you not talking to each other, or him pushing you away. Heâs never had to spend a day ignoring you. And now, thereâs so much to say and so much to feel but he doesnât know how to approach it. Heâll need tonight to sort himself out and then heâll speak to you, maybe after he drives your parents to the airport. Or maybe on the way back.Â
He drops Jimin off; 30 seconds later, heâs home, too. Youâre so close but so far away just like you used to be. But at least this time he knows that when the next day comes, heâll have a chance to just pull you close and tell you he doesnât want to be like this ever again.
Thereâs an incessant knocking on your door, and as youâre about to yell out that youâre asleep, you realize it might be Jungkook. You sit up on your bed and when the door opens and you see your brother instead, your face falls.
âItâs just me, unfortunately,â he says. âKookâs back at his place.â
âOh,â you sigh. âWhy are you home so early? Itâs like, 11.â
âBecause after the third girl, his fake injury excuse wore off and people just didnât believe him. We looked like losers sitting on the table eating chicken,â Jimin chuckles. âSo we left after an hour then went to a park and I knocked some sense into him and now heâs not so upset anymore. And Iâm here to knock some sense into you, too.â
âI already know I made a mistake, Chim. Iâm⊠Iâm so fucking stupid. I just⊠donât want him to think that Iâm ashamed of him or that I donât think heâs enough or any of that. I mean Iâmââ
âCrazy about him, right?â
âI kinda am,â you smile softly.
âGood, because so is he and heâs hoping youâd go talk to him even if he says heâll talk to you tomorrow. Donât waste time anymore andââ
Youâre bolting off your bed and putting on your hoodie before your brother could finish his sentence.Â
âIf mom and dad look for me, tell them Iââ
âGot attacked by a clown in the sewer.â
You look at him incredulously then realize youâre wearing yellow then you frown.Â
âJust make up some excuse. Iâll⊠hopefully be back in the morning,â you say.
âAlright. Itâs drizzling though soââ
And just like that, youâre gone.
It takes all but 10 seconds for the rain to pour, and your hoodie and sweatpants are no match for it. You groan at your brother for underselling the weather but then again, you also should be thanking him for telling you what you needed to hear - that Jungkookâs not so upset anymore and that heâs hoping youâd speak to him.Â
Much as you think you wouldâve taken any chance today to patch things up, you also wouldâve frozen in front of him. You suppose you needed to know he was ready for you, and if he wouldnât tell you, then of course, Jimin would. You just really wish he had the foresight to know it would rain this hard but youâre probably asking for too much.Â
But Jungkookâs place is just a few blocks from yours so you power through. When you get there, you realize that you forgot your phone, so you make the stupid decision of climbing over the short fence and then hitting your cut finger in the process.Â
You have no time to feel pain though, as the next order of business is getting Jungkookâs attention. But before you can execute your plan of throwing rocks on his window, the front door opens, and you telepathically thank your brother who probably called your boyfriend to alert him that youâll be arriving at his place wet from the rain.
â___, what are you doing here?â Jungkook asks with worry painted on his face.Â
âI just⊠I needed to come and see you,â you manage to answer.
His face softens and you feel the hope bloom in your chest. He pulls you inside by the wrist and instructs you to quietly go up the stairs. Youâre at least not drenched but you still got wet, so he leads you to the bathroom to wash up. He tells you to wait as he gets you something to change in, and he returns after half a minute with a towel and a large shirt.
âCream and band-aid, for your wound,â he says, placing them on the counter. âMy roomâs the second door to the right, in case you forgot.â
You take him in, in his black tank top and shorts, his tongue playing with his lip ring the way he always does when heâs nervous. You manage to nod before he heads out, and you take a quick shower and then pull his oversized shirt over you.Â
You quietly walk to his room, knocking on the door first before opening it slowly. Itâs a bit dim but seeing him is all you need. After placing your clothes on the nearby chair, you look at him again.Â
He looks tired and worried. He also looks like he has so much to say but he doesnât know where to start. Thereâs a hint of sadness in his eyes but thereâs longing, too, and you suppose heâs mirroring how you look. You feel a lot. You also want to say a lot, but you donât know where or how to start.Â
So you do the one thing you know often works. You approach him then wrap your arms around his torso. You fall into his embrace as quickly as he falls into yours, as he seems to have the same idea. You hold him tighter and pull him closer. You flush your cheeks on his chest while he buries his face on your neck. You grip his top and he does the same with yours. Your heart beats fast in longing and you feel his own do the same, too.Â
Thereâs so much to feel and say but this is all you can do. And right now, itâs quite enough.Â
You loosen your grip, but only so you could nuzzle his neck while your arms wrap around them. He feels so warm and he smells so delicate and heâs all you need.
âYou knew I was coming?â You ask, turning to him
âJimin said you were on your way without an umbrella and your phone,â Jungkook chuckles. But his face softens as he wipes the lone tear that falls down your cheek. âYouâre lucky it wasnât a typhoon or anything.â
âI had to get to you,â you mumble.Â
âHe also told me he wasnât subtle in telling you to come here.â
âWell, he did say you wanted me to talk to you. And I wanted to. I just wasnât sure if you were ready to hear me out and I was⊠giving you space.â
âYeah well, I donât know what to do with that space without you there,â he sighs, his eyes shy and absolutely adorable.
âNeither do I,â you smile. âSo, uh. Will you invite me to your bed, maybe fill that space and more?â
âOf course,â he laughs, taking your hand and leading you there.Â
You get under the covers and once he lies next to you, you scoot closer, hugging him again until youâre laying on top of him. But he doesnât complain. He just hugs you back tightly, pulling you closer until heâs able to bask in your scent and the warm feel of you.
But despite the relief, you know you actually have to do the talking. You pull away and lay on your side. You take in his beauty and his softness and the way they make you feel like all is right again in the world. Your fingers trace his face, from his nose to his cheek to his lips, and he does the boyfriend thing of kissing your hand - including your cut finger - before wrapping it around his waist. He looks like heâs anticipating your words, too, so you try and hope theyâre enough.
âKook, Iâm so sorry,â you start. âI⊠I have no excuse. I was being selfish and cowardly because I didnât know how to tell my parents. I didnât want to deal with what theyâll say about your job, knowing how they are and what they value and I justâŠâ
âThatâs for me to deal with though,â he says. âBecause I chose this. And Iâve always known how they are but I still chose you.â
âItâs for us to deal with, and I did it so terribly,â you shake your head. âI donât want you to think that Iâm ashamed of you and what you do. That freedom, the ability to create⊠theyâre things they donât really understand. And I thought I knew how to make them. I just ended up denying us and that was so wrong. Iâm so sorry.â
âI⊠I get it,â he responds, caressing your cheek now. âThey worked so hard to give you this life and of course they want to make sure youâre taken care of. And for them, they only know of one way that could happen. Iâd be naive to think theyâll just accept that the man whoâs crazy about their daughter isnât some corporate dude with secure employment and upward mobility in his career.â
He doesnât miss your shy smile and the way you nibble your lip and that just triggers the butterflies in his belly.Â
âBut thatâs for me to show them that I can take care of you, and not because you canât do it yourself but because I want to,â he adds. âI⊠I wanna be that person who makes things better and easier for you and who makes you happy.â
And who makes you feel loved, he doesnât say. Thatâs a conversation for another day, he thinks.
âYou do,â you assure him. âAnd I feel it everyday. Youâre good at that, and I donât tell you enough.â
âI know now,â he smiles, leaning closer to kiss you softly.Â
You return it but pull away. âDo you forgive me?â
âOf course I do,â he says, falling into the kiss that he gives again.
âOkay. I donât wanna hurt you like that ever again.â
Your pouty face tugs his heart and he wants to tell you that none of that matters now because youâre back in each otherâs arms, and thatâll always be enough for him.Â
He just hums as he goes for another kiss thatâs deeper this time. And when you let him push you to lay on your back as you moan against his lips, his heart soars even more. Heâs missed you, and itâs definitely going to be a long night.
He hovers over you now, and he shivers when your fingers graze his neck and then his chest. You open your legs to meet his hips, and the feel of your clothed cunt against him has his brain short-circuiting. He gets in the rhythm of grinding against you while he kisses your lips then your jaw then your neck, his hand now sneaking under your shirt to fondle your breast.
Itâs when he sucks on that sensitive part near your ear that you yelp in pleasure, and he immediately covers your mouth with his hand while he giggles.
âGotta keep it down babe,â he whispers. âMy parents are in the other room.â
But he doesnât stop his kissing and you donât really want him to.
âItâs not like youâre making it any easier,â you moan as he pinches your pert nipple.
âIâm not and I wonât, but you gotta try,â he smirks before his lips trail downward.
Youâre unable to say anything once his tongue swirls around your buds. His hands wrap around your breasts that he praises, that he kisses and licks before slowly letting them go to hold onto your waist this time. He presses open-mouth kisses down your torso, his lips in tandem with your underwear thatâs teasingly being removed off of you.Â
You hear him let out a breathy moan as he spreads your legs wider.Â
And while you know that this tender-hearted man has a cheeky streak in him, you didnât expect for him to have his finger against his lips to shush you, knowing what heâs about to do. His smug face turns you on even more, and your breath is caught in your throat once you feel his tongue flat against your flesh, warming it up before the tip of his wet muscle swirls around your nub.
But you go along with his request, biting back your moan, even as your pussy chases his mouth for more.Â
And itâs what he gives, as he dives in and sucks and bites your clit while his two fingers explore your hole. The cold of his lip ring is a contrast to how hot you feel, and itâs a sensation you can never get enough of. You whimper in silence but you manage to look at him, his eyes closed as he buries his face in your cunt.Â
âLook at me,â you whisper and he follows, his gaze meeting yours. âFuu-uuck, Kook. You feel so good,â your voice quivers.
His mouthâs full but yours is hanging open. You cover yours with your free hand while the other pulls on his long locks. Heâs enjoying this so much, you can tell with the way he squeezes your thighs and moans against your skin. He follows a pace that has your body shaking, straining in intense pleasure until it gives in. You let out a low scream as your orgasm hits, and heâs right there, riding out your high with you.
He cleans you up with his tongue and then makes a show of licking your essence off his fingers before kissing you again.
âYou did good,â he teases, as he caresses your cheek.
Youâre about to say that so did he when bucks his hip against yours, and the feel of his hard cock against your still wet cunt ignites another fire in you. He repeats it, and itâs what has you moaning again.
âFuck baby, I told you to keep it down,â he says, continuing his movements.
You know you canât help it at this point, not when heâs back to licking your neck and kneading your breast.
âWhatever. Not like this isnât new to your parents or anything,â you say.Â
Itâs a guess but you doubt youâre wrong.
âWhat? Fucking a girl in my room?âÂ
âYeah?â
âBut youâre the first girl I ever brought in here,â he cocks an eyebrow.Â
âThatâs uh, thatâs kinda sweet,â you reply, your breath steadying now.Â
âYeah and well, who gets to say they fucked their childhod crush in their childhood bedroom?â He smirks again. âI can.â
Heâs back to kissing you and much as you enjoy this, the itch to feel him in your mouth overtakes you, and you take the chance when he trails down your neck.
âSo, can this childhood crush suck your dick?âÂ
âYes, she can,â he chuckles.
He removes himself from you and leans against his bed frame. You get on your knees and pull off his boxers, salivating at the sight before you. You get on top of him, your damp lips gliding against his hard cock and his mouth drops open, an invitation for you to do what you wish.
With your movements on his hips, you focus on his neck, licking up the smooth flesh and the protruding vein that has him biting back his moan. Then you kiss him, desperately and passionately, as you slowly remove his tank top and rest your hands on his chest.
Itâs your turn to trail kisses down his torso now and you give every inch of him ample attention. But when you make it further down, thereâs one part of him that deserves so much more. You tease him only a little, stroking his length and kitten-licking his slit, before swallowing him whole and swirling your tongue around and all over his cock. Heâs hard and thick and everything you want inside of you.
You hold back a gag while he holds back his whimpers. You stroke him relentlessly so you could watch his mouth hang open and his strained body almost folding in pleasure as his thighs tighten in your hold.Â
âYou like that, baby?â You hum.
âFuck, baby, you feel so good around me. Fuck,â he keens, his voice quivering now.Â
You let his sounds guide you on how hard and how deep to go, but heâs the one who stops you, as he leans close and captures your lips in a searing kiss. He pulls you back on top of him to slide down his cock and the stretch makes you moan in his mouth.Â
Heâs propped up on his arms for support while you move up and down, loving how he drags inside you in an angle that has your mind going hazy. You wrap your arms around his neck while he pushes upward to meet you, and somehow doing this while trying to be quiet is making the pleasure more intense.
It gets too much for Jungkook and he wants more. He wants to hit your deepest spots. He wants to be as close to you as he possibly can. He wants to swallow your moans and touch every part of your body and pleasure you in every way that heâs able.Â
So he pulls you off and lays you on your side, sliding back in from behind, with your one leg raised. The angle has you keening, even more when his one hand finds your breast and the other does its work on your clit. He pushes gently then roughly, no longer caring about the odd sounds the bed is making against his wall. He wouldnât mind making up a reason to his parents if they ask him about it. Right now, all he wants is to reach his peak with you.Â
Your body is shaking in pleasure and overstimulation but you urge him, wanting to feel his seed inside you as well.
You lick his mouth. âBaby please, I want to feel your cum inside me,â you beg. âI want you so bad, fuck fuck.â
He loves it when you plead to him like this. He loves hearing what he does to you. He revels in the way your body molds into his, the way it aches to be close and to be one with him. His movements continue, and with his unrhythmic pounding against your pussy, he comes. You come right after, caused by his intense fiddling of your clit, and you feel like floating, your body in the clouds of pure pleasure.
But like always, heâs there with you, making sure you safely fall into a bed of hugs and kisses and warmth. He stays inside you as he softens, but his arms wrap around you, his face in your neck as he mumbles words of praise.Â
âFifteen-year-old me would never believe this,â he heaves as he turns you over to face him.
You giggle in response.Â
âYouâre crazy, you know that?â
âI do. Itâs how I am with you. In the best way, of course,â he smiles his boyish smile, an interesting mix of innocent and cheeky.
âItâs the same with me,â you whisper, kissing his nose. âAnd 18-year-old me would never believe this.â
You wake up the next morning to the alarm that you set on Jungkookâs phone. Your parents are leaving early in the afternoon and they wanted to prepare breakfast for all of you, and itâs a meal with them that youâre excited and a little nervous to have.Â
You kiss the chest that your face is flushed against, and this elicits a groan from the man next to you.Â
âGood morning, babe,â you greet, shifting up to kiss his nose this time.Â
âGâmorning,â he grunts.
âSo, uh, weâre supposed to meet my parents for breakfast. And uh, Iâm going to tell them about us.â
Itâs what prompts him to finally open his eyes, and the softness in them makes your heart burst.Â
âOkay,â he smiles. âI hope it wonât ruin their trip or anything.â
âIt wonât,â you assure him. âI⊠I tried to get through to my mom yesterday. You know, just telling her the things I value and stuff.â
âHmm. Jimin did the same with your dad. I guess I wonât be such a disappointment now, huh?â
âShush, youâre not even that,â you pout. âI think theyâll understand.â
He mirrors your smile and thereâs a giddy feeling at finally - hopefully - seeing your parents be happy for you. So you get off the bed and sneak out of Jungkookâs bedroom to go to the bathroom.Â
You wash up quickly, only to make it to the hallway and find his parents standing there, wide-eyed as they look at you in surprise. You realize youâre only wearing Jungkookâs shirt that falls just above your knees and you try to cover whatever you can with your hands.
âHi, uncle. Hi, auntie,â you shyly smile. âThis, uh, this isnât how I wanted to meet you.â
âWell, we donât really mind,â Jungkookâs mother smiles. âWeâre just glad youâre here. Itâs been a while since weâve seen you.â
âI know. I, uh, I wasnât dating your son yet the last time I was here.â
âAnd that calls for a celebration, doesnât it?â She giggles. âThat boy has had a crush on you since forever. Itâs funny he never believed that we knew. He wasnât exactly subtle.â
âItâs not the first time Iâve heard that,â you laugh back.
You hear a door open and before you know it, large arms are wrapping around your waist and a mop of hair tickles your cheek. Jungkook grunts against your neck as he says that heâs finally awake, and you cringe at his parentsâ amused faces.
âKook, your parents are in front of us. This is so embarrassing.â
âNah, they donât mind. Theyâre cool,â he says.
âYeah, and my parents arenât,â you sigh.
âSo, Iâm guessing your parents donât know yet?â His father asks.
Your pout prompts him to explain. âWell, the day after you got together, our lovesick son here told our family about both of you. But he said that you haven't told your parents yet so weâve kept it from them ever since. Itâs hard since we see them all the time but we managed.â
âKook also told us about what happened,â his mother asks. âHe was grumpy all day yesterday and we got him to tell us why he was so upset.â
âIâm sorry,â you pout again. âThat wasnât my finest moment.â
You feel Jungkookâs hold on you tighten, his way of telling you itâs all okay.
âItâs alright, darling,â she smiles. âWe know how your parents are, and their reasons come from a good place. We tried to make this boy here understand them and you as well. Firstborns carry immense pressure to meet expectations; he just doesnât get it because heâs the youngest. But it seems that itâs worked out with both of you, and weâre glad it did.â
âHe couldnât resist me,â you shrug, to his parentsâ amusement.Â
âUh, youâre the one who walked through the rain to come see me,â he reminds you, his head popping out of your neck now.Â
âYou wanted me to.â
He tickles you in response and youâre all laughing in no time. Itâs a different dynamic with his parents, as Jungkook always had a very close relationship with them. You saw it as a teenager and now, you get to be part of it, too.
They finally let you go and ask you to have dinner with them tomorrow, and thatâs one meal that youâre definitely excited to have.Â
You push Jungkook towards the bathroom and then return to his room to dress up. Itâs shortly after when youâre both walking the few blocks to your house, fingers interlocked as you give each other comfort.
You make it home and once you unlock the door, you can already hear laughter and clanking pots from the kitchen. You head there, meet Jiminâs smug face, and clear your throat to announce your presence.
âOh, there you are. We were wondering where you were,â your mother says. âAnd hi, Jungkook.â
He greets your parents and from behind you, you take his hand again.Â
âI went for a walk⊠with Jungkook.â
He clears his throat and you backtrack.
âI mean, I, uh, was at his place. Thatâs where I slept.â
âOh?â Your parents say at the same time, their eyes looking at you in confusion.
âHeâs kinda my boyfriend.â
âKinda? Babe, I think Iâm more than âkindaâ your boyfriend,â he exclaims.Â
Your parents look shocked and next to them, Jimin is laughing in his seat.
âI mean, he is my legit, actual boyfriend,â you correct. âThe new thing in my life that I denied is actually him. And the person who stands by me, who makes me enjoy the moments? Thatâs him, too.â
Their faces soften, and somehow thatâs the comfort you need. Perhaps all the talking that you and your brother have done has gotten into them. You wouldnât be surprised if they talked about it, too.
âWhy didnât you tell us, then?â Your mother asks.
âBecause heâs not what you expected,â you sigh. âAnd I didnât know how youâd take it.â
âWell, he is your brotherâs best friend,â she points out.Â
âWhoâs had a crush on me since he was a teenager,â you explain.
âThatâs⊠not surprising,â your father laughs. âWe could tell.â
âOh my god, Kook. You are not subtle,â you elbow him. You turn back at them. âBut I⊠I didnât know how to tell you because you expect me to have a partner whoâs part of your world, you know? And Jungkook likes his freedom. He likes his art and⊠he really likes me. And I happen to really like him, too.â
âHe treats you well? Makes you happy? Heâs someone you can depend on when things get tough?â Your father asks.Â
He smiles tenderly at you and you feel like crying.
âYes, very much,â you nod.
âThen I think heâs everything we need him to be. A good partner, Iâd say.â
You let out a sigh of relief. This is all you needed to hear.
âWeâre sorry if you felt like you couldnât be honest with us,â your mother shakes her head. âI guess we just needed some reminding of what we want for you and your brother. And well, Jungkookâs shown us his heart all these years. Heâs always been a part of the family and heâll be even more.â
Theyâre words that Jungkook didnât expect would get him emotional, and he hugs you from behind just to steady himself. But itâs what makes your mother walk towards him for a hug, and your father surprisingly does the same.Â
âAlright, I guess itâs fitting to have this family breakfast together,â your mother says.
You all take your seats at the dining table, with yours being next to Jungkook now.
Jimin cheekily smiles. âWell, if this whole dance thing doesnât work out, I guess I can just be a counselor or family therapist or something.â
âJust donât call your clients âstupid,ââ you roll your eyes.
âI wonât. Thatâs only reserved for you.â
And just like that, everything is as it should be.
You get through breakfast with lots of laughter, as you and Jungkook tell your own versions of the story while Jimin butts in to tell his own. Itâs heartwarming to see your parents this way, especially when they tease your boyfriend about his crush on you growing up.Â
But even they admit that theyâve depended on him all these years, too, and that they donât doubt his loyalty and commitment to you.Â
You share a tense moment with him after you all drop your parents to the airport, though. Jungkook has just unloaded all their things and as they hug you goodbye, your father teases.
âJust donât welcome us home and tell us we're grandparents already.â
Jungkook dry laughs and so do you. Thatâs another topic for another day, you suppose, and while youâre still unsure of having a family, you just know itâs something youâll both talk about.
You all get home soon after to wash up. Jungkookâs excited about how youâll spend the day now that youâre both talking again, and you suggest hanging by the beach and then going out for dinner.Â
Jimin says heâll stay home to let you two make up for the past two days and so he could have that online date with Taehyung, and you agree.
You and Jungkook end up having a really good day.Â
You go to a mall and walk around. He gets you a pair of stud earrings to commemorate the day you went official to your parents and you buy him a silver chain necklace for the same silly reason, but also because he looks really good in one and you want him to have more. It pairs real nicely with the shirt and joggers casual outfit heâs been sporting these past days, and the teasing look he makes after he puts it on reminds you of that one time his necklace was dangling on your face when he was pounding into you on your couch.
You get fruit drinks and snacks at the stalls you both used to buy from as teenagers, then you head to the beach where you lounge until sunset. You wade in the water, splash each other, and then make out when thereâs no one around.Â
You feel so free and light, so young and hopeful. These are the moments you love having with him, the ones you like to enjoy and savor and have more of. And you know youâll have them for the rest of this trip and when you get back to Seoul.Â
Jimin joins you for dinner at a burger place, then you all buy cup noodles and beer and head to your favorite park. Itâs just like how most of your nights together go, just in the outdoors. You and your brother bicker and Jungkook referees; thereâs also the occasional âyouâre so cheesyâ comment from you to your boyfriend and Jiminâs gagging sound.Â
You confirm plans for the rest of the trip. Your parents will be enjoying Hawaii for close to two weeks, and you have all that time to rest and spend time with your two favorite people. Youâll be off work. Jungkook has some projects to finalize while you do your own thing, and Jimin will be watching dance shows to get him inspired.Â
But there are more beaches and parks and villages to visit. Thereâs also that two-night stay at a resort youâll be having. There are other sites and restaurants to go to, and youâll be reliving your teenage years together while making new memories.
Youâre now back at home, snug in Jungkookâs arms as he leans against the bed frame in your room, with you in between his legs.Â
âToday was a really good day,â you say, turning to him after he kisses your cheek.
âToday was amazing,â he hums.
He smiles as he replays the scenes of you shopping for each other, frolicking on the beach, and walking around your favorite spots. Theyâre all so simple and things youâve done before but today felt so much more. There was a look in your eyes that held such tenderness and care for him. You held his hand as if you didnât want to ever let go, as if you didnât want him to.
âI really like you, Kook,â you mumble, almost like a confession, as if itâs not known. âI donât know how else to say it.â
His eyes soften, as does his smile that heâs had on pretty much the whole day. But he just looks at you, and though you know he feels the same way, you want to hear him verbalize it again.
âHey, say it back,â you nudge him.Â
âI love you though,â he says after a beat of silence.
Youâre now the one who looks at him, unable to say a word.Â
âAre you that surprised?â He looks back at you nervously, nibbling his lip ring. âI mean, I think itâs quite obvious, just like everything I feel about you is.â
âKook, IâŠâ you try, but you donât exactly know how to respond.Â
You donât doubt his feelings but somehow you canât help but think that maybe right now, he loves the idea of you and not you, and thereâs a difference.
âI think I always have but I guess I didnât realize just how much until this whole thing happened,â he continues, wanting you to understand what he feels. âI asked Jimin why it was affecting me so much and he said itâs because I put you on a pedestal. You were this dream Iâve had for so long that I admired from a distance and now I get to be with you and youâre⊠human, not some flawless being who doesnât make mistakes. So when you hurt me, I faltered. Thatâs on me, too. Because I⊠I expected too much. And Iâm sorry.â
His focus is on his hands that are playing with yours before he turns to you again.
âI realized that I wanted so badly for you to want me, thatâs why it hurt. I wanted to be that person you cared for and trusted and needed because youâre all that for me. And when I saw you at my door last night, nothing else mattered but you,â he continues.Â
âWhatever misunderstanding or mistake or disagreement, I learned to accept them and I just wanted you, in my arms, so I could show you that youâre all I need. Iâve dreamt of you for so long and this version of you is more than I couldâve imagined. And I just⊠I love you, okay? It doesnât matter how you feel. I just need you to know that I do, and I donât think Iâll stop.â
Your heart is about to burst, and all you could do is cup his face in your hands and kiss him, hard and deep until you run out of air. You kiss him eagerly because youâre desperate for his touch. You kiss him passionately because there are things you feel that you canât put into words yet, and this is how you tell him.Â
Heâs quick to follow your pace, wrapping his arms around your waist as he helps you sit on his lap. Your fingers comb through his hair and grip his top and pull him closer, all while you grind against him and moan in his mouth.Â
But when he tucks a strand of hair behind your ear and caresses your cheek, you go tender.Â
âI love you so much,â he whispers against your lips, and all you feel is the warmth of his touch and how itâs all the comfort and security and stability that you need.
You slowly pull away and graze your nose against his. You donât say anything else and he doesnât expect you to. But you kiss his cheek and hug him, and you hear him sigh in relief.
He pulls away and cheekily smiles.Â
âYou know, thereâs a song for this.â
âAâwhat?â You laugh.
âA song.â
He pulls away from you then stands from the bed. âLet me get it from Jiminâs room.â
You stare at him questioningly because you really didnât think he could surprise you even more. He returns with one of his burned CDs and you ask him if he has a sex playlist or something.Â
âI used to daydream about you to this,â he says, as he puts it in the CD player that your parents got you for your 17th birthday. âI listened to it after that very kiss we had and, well, weâre back home rehashing so many memories and I kinda just want to fulfill another fantasy of mine.â
He plays the song and the first notes get you all giddy and excited and nostalgic and very much turned on.Â
âThis was my favorite song,â you say, as you signal him to come closer.
âI know. You played it all the time, I could hear it from the other room.â
You giggle, and itâs a sound he wants to listen to forever.Â
âSo, whatâs this fantasy of yours?â You ask, as you take your shirt off.
He licks his lips at the breathtaking sight of you, but he softens at the fairy tattoo on your shoulder, the one he customized and that you love showing off.
âJust⊠make love to you while this plays in the background,â he manages to say.Â
Your face softens, too, and itâs a sight he also wants to see everyday of his life.
âIâm all yours, Kook. Do whatever you please.â
Itâs a week later when you tell him.Â
Youâd just gotten back from that short trip to a resort that had you relaxed and stuffed with food. You video called with your parents during their sunset cruise and your father once again teased about not being grandparents yet and just like the first time, you brushed it off.Â
Youâre lying on Jungkookâs chest as you laugh about Jiminâs terrible bowling skills. And in the silence, he asks, âdoes it bother you that your parents expect you to have kids?â
You knew heâd picked up on it the first time, but itâs just now that heâs bringing it up.
âA little. I try not to think about it though,â you sigh. âItâs another one of those expectations, you know? But I guess itâs a harder thing to talk to them about, that I donât know if I want kids.â
He just hums and combs your hair with his fingers.
âDoes it bother you?â You ask, suddenly feeling nervous. You know enough this is a make-or-break for many people.Â
âNot really,â he says. âItâs not easy to raise a child, much less carry one, and thatâs something I canât do for you. But I guess, it doesnât matter. We can have kids. Or not. We can have a dog or a pet tortoise or a fish, really. When I think of a future, all I see is you. The rest is just a bonus.â
He speaks of your future with such certainty. Heâs always talked about enjoying the moments but the one version of a future he wants is the one where youâre with him.Â
âI just want you to know that whatever youâre worried about, share it with me. I donât want you to worry about me. We do this together. We figure it out together,â he adds.Â
And just like that, the fears and pressure you feel slowly dissipate. Heâs the only version of the future you want. Everything else is just a bonus.Â
You turn to him with a kiss on his cheek.Â
âI love you, Kook. I donât want anyone else to love me, and I donât want to love anybody else,â you whisper like a plea, just like a promise.Â
âIâm not loving anybody else,â he kisses you.Â
And itâs his own promise he makes.

weber's law
in which spencer reid comforts fem!reader when she's having a panic attack at the rossi mansion
fluff warnings/tags: panic attack lol, spencer is really cute and sweet my little perfect cutie pie angel baby, classic spencer info dumps bc they're pretty much his love language, established relationship, cheesy and sweet at the end a/n: this one is for my queens with panic disorders who are triggered by literally nothing and everything i see you have this ilysm
When Spencer had invited you to a small get-together at Rossiâs, youâd imagined a small get-together at Rossiâs.Â
And maybe that makes you a complete idiot.Â
Or maybe Spencer is just so used to FBI work functions that to him, this really is small.
But now youâre sitting on an expensive couch in a very nice house, and youâre surrounded by FBI agents who are all milling around and talking and laughing, and youâre worried maybe your outfit doesnât look as nice on you as youâd thought it did, and you keep having very vivid visions of spilling your drink all over a furry throw rug that probably costs more than your rent does.Â
Music that could reasonably be considered relaxing or at the very least not objectionable plays over the sound system throughout the whole house and thus is inescapableânot that youâd get up from the couch even if you could, because Spencer is sitting to your right and he has his hand on your thigh and itâs the only thing that has until this point been keeping you from a full blown panic attack.
Maybe that makes you a complete idiot, too.
Regardless, you try to focus on nothing but the weight of his hand as it travels slowly up and down from knee to hip over the jeans youâre not so sure about, and the feeling of your breath coming and going, as slow as you can possibly summon it without passing out.Â
Spencer is laughing at something JJ is saying as she stands next to the couch with Will and you really like JJ but her voice seems so loud right now, and nothing is going particularly wrong but everything feels so, so wrong itâs scary.Â
All the buzzing tension in your body telling you to run away because youâre unsafe and at the same time locking you into place builds until you have to express it somehow. So you revert to an old habitâbouncing your leg rapidly like a rabbit thumping its foot. Itâs not entirely conscious, but it feels better than being completely still. That is, until Spencerâs hand strays inward and cups just above your inner knee, where he begins fanning his thumb back and forth over the fabric.Â
âWhatâs this?â he murmurs, head angled toward you and voice low enough to not draw attention. You force yourself to plant your heel to the ground even though it worsens the feeling of gears crunching in your chest.Â
âNothing. Sorry.â
That gets his attention.Â
Because of course it does. Heâs always telling you to stop saying sorry so often.Â
His tone solidifies, still quiet but committed to this conversation now and no longer the whispery apparition of a quick aside.Â
âWhy are you sorry?âÂ
âI donât know, it wasnâtâitâs nothing.â
You barely avoid apologizing again.Â
For a moment he doesnât speak, just watches youâand you make the mistake of raising your gaze to meet his. He has that curious, analytical look about him, concern tightening his eyes and knitting his brow. Heâs doing that annoying mind-reading thing again, and as soon as he actually sees your eyes, heâs figured you out.Â
âDo you want to go outside for a minute? Get some air?â
After examining his face for any clues that heâd rather stay in here, (not that youâd really know what to look for), you nod hesitantly. Spencer mirrors your nod and stands, holding out his hand for you to take as you follow suit after setting your drink on a side table (without spilling.)
JJ is now wrapped up in conversation with another agent and the two of you manage to abscond without attracting unwanted attention, which makes you feel slightly better as Spencer leads you deftly through rooms with high-vaulted ceilings and big windows and heavy, expensive looking oak furniture. It seems like youâve been wandering through a maze when you arrive to a quieter part of the house and he opens a french door for youâwhich leads out onto an empty patio.Â
A cool breeze immediately sinks into your skin, and your nervous system is so hyper-alert that it gives you chills. Spencer notices the way you shiver and steps closer after closing the door behind him, his hand finding the small of your back immediately.Â
âYou okay?â he asks, intentionally avoiding impeding your view of the sweeping backyard and the trees beyond. Sometimes focusing on something stationary is less overwhelming, but theyâre so tall they seem imposing. Threatening, even.Â
But then again, everything feels threatening right now.Â
âYeah. Iâm fine.â
Spencer seems unconvinced by your monotoneâwhen you glance over at him heâs still watching you like youâre a puzzle to be solved.Â
âAre you sure? You can tell me if youâre not.â
âWhy are you so convinced something is wrong?â you laugh, but it comes out too manic. You cross your arms. He looks pointedly at the motion.Â
âFor starters, that. Often times crossing your arms is a subconscious way of comforting yourself when you feel defensive or threatened. And you could say itâs because youâre cold, butââ he pauses, reaching out to touch your cheek. âI can feel how hot your face is, and you shivered when we came outside even though itâs 71 degrees because your nervous system is overreacting to external stimuli. The leg-bouncing is also often indicative of an activated parasympathetic nervous system. Is me touching you okay?â
Again, you nodâunsure how to deflect when he calls you out so efficiently.Â
Spencerâs hand slides down to just beneath your jaw, where he rests two fingers. Each second that passes has him looking progressively more worried. You wish you werenât quite so catatonicâthe fairy lights hanging from the pergola shine through his hair and make him glow so appealingly you want to kiss his cheek.Â
âYour heart rate is really high, honey.â
That would be due to the sense of impending doom. Thanks for pointing it out.
But youâve lost your words, and along with them has gone your sense of humor. All you can manage for a 30 second span is a meaningless shake of your head as you avert your eyes, staring at the sprawling carpet of blue-green grass soaked in night as each blade doubles with your tears.Â
âI think Iâm dying,â you finally croak.
âTechnically, we all are. Very slowly.â
Ah. Thereâs that social tact heâs so well known for.Â
âSpencer.â
âRight,â he kisses your cheek as you stare up at him, affronted, and pulls you into his chest. âSorry. I was actually trying to be helpful. Changes in brain chemistry and hormonal activity associated with panic attacks change your perception of time and make things feel really fast which can contribute to feelings of anxiety. But in reality time is moving just the same as it always is. One second is always one second. Sometimes remembering that helps me to slow down. Not literally, of course. My gravitational pull isnât great enough to have any discernible effect on the passage of time.â
You sniff, pressing your cheek to his tie. His words make your head spin, seeing as you hadn't been prepared for a lecture in psychophysicsâbut it spins in the opposite direction than it had been going previously. It's nice.
âChange your perception of time?â
âWeberâs law of perception. Stimulus sensitivity will increase proportionally with increased stimulus intensity. Youâre only perceiving time to be going faster because your cortisol and adrenaline levels are making you hyper-vigilant and sensitive to all the markers of time passing.â
âLike what?â
Spencer hums, the bass of it a comforting resonance against your ear, and strokes your hair unhurriedly.Â
âLike⊠your internal clock. Your body measures time with your heartbeat, so when your heart rate increases, time seems to go faster. Also environmental cues, which lead you to understand that the world is not stagnant and thus is not frozen in time. Like the sound of the wind chimesâŠâ he pauses, long enough for you to realize that indeed, you can hear the gentle, sonorous ringing and tinkling of steel chimes bouncing against each other. âAnd the wind itself, which is coming all the way from the Gulf of Mexico. Some studies actually suggest that wind direction can affect your energy levels and mood.â
Itâs a gentle breeze more than it is full-blown wind. It feels cool against your hot skin.Â
Spencerâs hand on the back of your head, still rhythmically smoothing your hair, seems to slow down the passage of time as well. You focus on that, and the sound of the wind chimes and the breeze on your skin for a few minutes, until your breathing and your heart rate slow and soon you regain your footing in the temporal dimension, exactly sure of where you stand on Rossiâs patio and in your boyfriendâs arms.Â
âYou tricked me into doing a grounding exercise,â you mumble into Spencerâs jacket.Â
âI did not trick you,â he defends, voice quiet to match yours. âI just wanted to make you feel better. Did it work?â
You pull away from him and he lets you, watching on as you sniffle and wipe your tears on your sleeves.Â
âYeah, it did. Thank you.â
For a moment, neither of you speak as you gather yourself. He leads you by the hand to a cushioned hanging bench at the end of the patio, taking a seat next to you and gently rocking the swing.Â
âDo you know what triggered that?â Spencer asks, over the gentle creaking sound. You shrug, observing the dance of the fireflies in the grass.Â
âNothing. Sometimes I just feel like everythingâs wrong and scary but I didnât want to tell you and ruin your night.â
âHey,â Spencer murmurs, pulling you into him with an arm around your shoulder. âYou are not ruining my night. I donât want you to worry about that.â
âBut all your friends and coworkers are inside, and youâre out here with me.â
He angles his head down toward you and you look up to meet his eyes, even warmer than the sticky summer night.Â
âI am. Do you know why?â
âBecause I suck,â you sniffle, more hot tears rolling down your cheeks as you attempt to look away. But Spencerâs not having it. He encourages you to sit up again so you can look at him properly, before wiping tears away gently with his thumb. When he speaks, itâs in soft, soothing tones.Â
âNo. Iâm out here because if all my friends were inside having fun, and you were outside having a panic attack, I would choose you every time.â
You manage a laugh through the crying.Â
âI donât know if thatâs healthy.â
âWhether or not itâs healthy is an entirely different discussion,â Spencer smiles wryly, before it melts into something softer and more sincere. âAll that matters is that itâs true.â
For a while after that, you simply lay your head on his shoulder. Spencer controls the speed of the swing with his much-longer legs, kissing your head and rubbing your arm as you admire the expanse of Rossiâs lush yard bathed in moonlight and the black silhouette of the forest beyond.Â
Eventually, Spencer speaks again, likely to make sure youâre not spiraling alone in your head.Â
âCan I tell you an extremely classified secret that I've been trying really hard to keep to myself for three days?â he asks, and the mischievous edge to his voice catches your attention. You hum in assent, already wondering what kind of information Spencer would have a hard time keeping to himself. It could be anything.Â
âAnderson is sleeping with Childers from Operational Tech.â
âWhat?â
Despite not working for the FBI yourself, Spencer and Penelope have you so filled in on the drama that you know exactly why thatâs shocking.Â
You pick your head up to look at him like do not fuck with me right now.Â
His eyes sparkle as he nods.
âYep.â
âDidnât you tell me Childers was dating that girl in sex crimes?â
Spencer raises his eyebrows. The corner of his mouth twitches. You gasp.Â
âNo! What? Does Anderson know?â
âI donât know. I certainly didnât want to be the one to tell him.â
âWaitâAnderson told you this?â
âYeah!â He laughs incredulously at your complete disbelief. âPeople tell me things! Iâm an excellent confidant!â
âIf youâre relaying all of this information to me then youâre a terrible confidant,â you chuckle, still wateryâbut feeling light years better.Â
Spencer brushes your hair away from your face fondly, leaning a fraction of an inch closer.Â
âYou donât count. Telling you secrets is basically the same as keeping them to myself.â
âBasically,â you tease, angling your head up by a few degrees in invitation. Spencer says nothing, does nothing for a long momentâjust studies you with soft eyes, continues stroking your cheek. When he takes too long to kiss you, you get impatient. âIâm still kinda anxious, you know.â
He smiles knowingly. Â
âYeah?â
âMhm,â you nod, looking pointedly at his lips. âYou should kiss me better.â
âI think that would take more than just one kiss,â he murmurs through a smile, leaning ever closer until your noses are bumping. âI think I would have to devote several hours to that. Maybe even a whole day.â
âHow does tomorrow look for you?âÂ
Heâs laughing as he finally presses his lips to yours. The kiss is sweet and lingering.Â
âFor you? Itâs wide open.â
