Epic fans, i have a question that may be dumb and i may be misunderstanding shit but i am going to ask it nonetheless

In the canon of Epic would calypso know what manipulation is, since she was put on the island "when [she] was young"? because if she doesn't, then the manipulative lyrics in "not sorry for loving you" wouldn't have had malicious intent, because she wouldn't know that what she's saying is wrong.

she's been alone for 100 years, and she was young when she was put on the island, but we don't know how young because she is a goddess. so if she was young enough to have not known/been taught what manipulation is then she wouldn't know that she shouldn't have said what she said to odysseus (my brother also brought up that she probably wouldn't know what consent is either in that case - obviously not trying to dismiss what happened at all, just bringing it up for the sake of the conversation we were having).

now, i am in no way trying to say that what she did was okay and i am not trying to dismiss it in any way; what she did was bad and wrong. but my brother and i were talking about this the other day and i figured i would bring it up somewhere that the rest of the fandom can see it and we can have a conversation about it.

i feel like i'm rambling a bit, but please share your thoughts! i would love to see what other peoples' points of view are on this (calypso is an interesting character to me, at least in the canon of epic).

So I was looking up polites' name right because epic is my comfort hyperfixation and I know that Polites is Odysseus' best friend and his light and the dude he can cry to but also knowing that Polites means citizens it makes me think that Polites' kindness and support towards Odysseus is representative of his people back in Ithaca, or at least what Odysseus remembers of his people, or wishes they will be like upon his return.

I'm falling down a polites rabbit hole and I will keep folks updated

Every single one of my EPIC the Musical ideas literally come up whenever I’m about to go to sleep-
