Glossing Joss' final moments as "an argument with a neighbor" is also a form of violence considering what actually happened, per his grieving husband's public testimony, is that when they returned to the site where Joss' family home was torched to the ground after two years of threats from neighbors, they found the skull and harness of the dog they lost in that fire set up on display for them, overwhelming the two with grief, and then if that wasn't enough Joss got to spend his final seconds in this life shoving his husband out of his murderer's line of fire. Thinking, while standing in the literal ashes of everything else hate took from him, that he was going to have to watch his husband be murdered too.

As much as I love him as Red Hood, what if Jason made his big comeback as just... a better Batman? It could be like Battle for the Cowl except good.

He could make his name killing the worst of the named villains (Joker, maybe Professor Pyg if we ignore continuity) then become the Batman with less collateral damage (look he isn't shown being any less violent than Bruce, because DC writers believe might makes right when it comes to beating petty criminals to death, but I refuse to believe Jason "stealing tires from Batman to survive" Todd would not have more sympathy for thieves). Imagine a Batman who takes down violent criminals like rapists and killers but just stops the thieves and muggers like "bruh, don't rob these guys, I know someone with so much hereditary privilege and antique silver."

And then now that they have an option besides corrupt cops and corrupt bats, the people of Gotham might think "hmm, maybe minor crimes aren't an excuse for authority figures to break our bones and throw knives willy nilly."

Word of advice to all you taking on the Magikrab Gauntlet.

Take a New Leaf sticker in with you. Preferably on something that can use Broadcast or Echolocation. Because you can use it to cleanse the permanent debuffs or buffs on yourself or enemies. Yes, even the Archangels.

Decibelle is the easiest choice since you can get both on the same monster but I haven’t done much digging to see if there is a better option.

((Warning! I really got into writing William and him showing his true colors, and I was having a lot of fun tbh. “Charlie Emily?” He stared straight ahead, looking you deep in the eye. Quite eerily so, considering the circumstances. “I don’t remember the exact date, so you’ll have to forgive me. I was proper sloshed that night though, I’ll tell you that.” William’s tone was inappropriately jovial, as if he was in the process of explaining a complex joke. Not the type of cadence somebody should have while recalling detail’s of an innocent child’s MURDER.

“I recall that it was raining. I drove down to the restaurant after essentially getting kicked out of the bar,” He scoffed with a small chuckle, “but that’s beside the point. I’ll be honest, I have no recollection as to why I went down there, or how I got down there. I drove, sure, but…ah, unimportant. Anyway-- there, outside, was little Charlie standing all alone outside, banging on the window with a certain type of vigor. I suppose my reasoning as to why I did what I decided to do next won’t make sense to you, because I don’t think that many could understand my thought process. Truly, it was thoughts mainly considering her father, and not her herself. He had it so…damn good, you know? After all, he was the brains behind the operation. HE had a lovely family-- even though I could tell that his marriage was��” he coughed, “to put it bluntly: loveless, but at least he still was able to uphold the image of a perfect, happy family. My oldest son looked up to him for guidance like a parent, but hardly gives me, his own father, the time of day. And lest we forget…HE was the one who built the thing that, I don’t know…killed my own child?”

The man had to take a moment to breathe, that feeling of undescribed jealously building up in his stomach all over again. Though the reminder that Henry, who had now lost the most near and dear thing in his life, was….well. Saying that he “had it rough” would be the understatement of the century. And that made William smile.

“Right…back to Charlotte. Some may describe her as being in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was locked outside, it was down pouring, I was wasted, and I just… acted on my impulses, really. You don’t have any inhibitions when you’re that far gone. To put it simply, I strangled her. Things truly are fuzzy as hell in my memory, but I will never forget her face when my hands were around her little neck. I hadn’t intended to kill her, honestly. Just to scare her. It was so dark, I didn’t think she’d recognize me in the pouring rain. But when she chocked out a little ‘uncle Will--!’” he mocked, “well…I mean, I couldn’t have her telling her father. So I finished the job, dragged her to the dumpsters, and drove off as quickly as I possibly could. That was the end of that.”

He took a few long moments to pause, letting you take in the information at hand.

Clear Sky is fine compared to this one-dimensional bullshit we made up

Clear Sky continues to guilt trip his son, whine and cry when a vote doesn't go his way because his victims don't trust his newest lie, and Gray Wing walks off so we can introduced to Slash.

Slash is Evil Foreigner Villain 2. Like One Eye, the narrative function of this character is to serve as our antagonist and make Clear Sky look better in comparison.

Don't think about how Clear Sky is the most vicious character in the series with a CURRENT body count of 3 direct murders (Misty, Bumble, Rainswept Flower), nearly a dozen more under his orders, a few counts of physical assault including smacking a kitten to the ground in anger, and ongoing emotional abuse of his own child. That was all "good intentions," the writers are gonna show you what they think "REAL" evil is!

...being more openly mean about the same exact thing Clear Sky did in Book 3. Hitting a kid for questioning why they're making enemies.

But nonononono guys this is UNIQUELY BAD we swear!!!!!

You can tell because Slash doesn't insist this is for Fern's own good somehow. He's just openly twirling his mustache instead of preparing a speech about self-defense or whatever. Their weakness is that they're "ruled by fear," unlike us Clan cats who are kept together by..... something else i guess.

What ELSE do you even call it, if you're held together by the idea that there's a constant barrage of bloodthirsty foreigners you need to defend yourselves against? Or an abusive tyrant who threatens, beats, or kills you for standing up to him? Or the unfounded belief that you're constantly a hair away from starving to the point where you have to send a domestic abuse victim back to her violent husband?

Isn't "fear" the other half of that dumbfuck "All Living Creatures Are Driven By Fear Or Greed" dichotomy they wrote in the earlier books, to try and barf up some kind of excuse for why Clear Sky skinning random women alive was actually very sympathetic?

You might want to twist this story to say, "Ok well it's saying that Clear Sky USED to be this bad, but hes not now" and id tell you that you're writing fanfiction. That's just not what's on the page. It does not draw that parallel and Clear continues to be a bastard without consequence. Read the shitty arc you keep telling me is actually sooo deep.

Slash and One Eye were inherently bad people. Unlike Clear Sky who's good at coming up with excuses that sound nice.
