when Order of the Phoenix came out my brother managed to get his hands on it early & i read it in one night, as one does. somehow a news station heard about it & ran a cute little interview with me. unfortunately they were thinking " harry potter superfan" and not "judgmental fantasy genre reader" so they asked me at the end what grade i would give it. and i said "C+".

Why does no one talk about the one scene in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban when Hermonie lifts up Harry with one hand while being whipped around by the Whomping Willow and fucking throws him under the roots.

She did not need magic. She needed to be throwing hands with everyone! Picking Draco up by the torso and body-slamming him into the ground like a WWE wrestler. Snapping people's spines over her knees. The battle of Hogwarts wouldn't have happened if Hermonie could throw hands.

today in "I've been looking at the same 25 contextless ST5 images for entirely too long now, oh god please give us a teaser before I lose full control of my life," I noticed that there is a discrepancy between Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Will's "hand stack" at the picnic table as shown in the rehearsal clip in the July BTS video and the image of the actual shot on the monitor during filming that Ross shared on Instagram.

On the left, Will is the last one to put his hand in, while on the right, Dustin's hand is on top. Since the left seems to be from rehearsal/run-through (Gaten has his glasses on, no one is fully in proper costume with their in-character jackets), they may have reworked things a little bit between that point and filming.

This really could mean nothing, but I know there was some discussion that Dustin's position at the end indicated some reluctance to whatever is being proposed or affirmed here (notably initiated by Mike, hand at the bottom, who is back in full Party leader mode). Will being an option for that spot might indicate that both Will and Dustin are on the other "side" of whatever this is about, and both need to be talked into this. And it might not just be something they disagree with - maybe the two of them ARE the "problem" that's preventing the Party from being a united front at the beginning of the season.

Interestingly, this supports another piece of these random anon curiouscat leaks from the beginning of last year that there is a confrontation specifically between Dustin and Will this season.

again, who knows! but I kind of love Will and Dustin as the going through it problem children of the season...let them Order of the Phoenix era Harry Potter self isolate and self destruct in ways that cause everyone grief.....

i don't think people understand how hard it is not to ship tomarry / harrymort because what do you mean they're borderline canonically soulmates. what do you mean they're PROPHESIED to each other. what do you mean they're literal parallels, had the same childhood circumstances but turned out the exact opposite. what do you mean harry's the embodiment of the light side and tom's the embodiment of the dark even though they're so, so similar. what do you mean they both have common names even though they themselves are anything but common. what do you mean they have uncountable amount of bible references that apply strictly to them, what do you mean harry makes sure to mention tom's the handsomest in the room whenever he sees him and apparently likes their connection. what do you mean their wands share the core of the same phoenix and therefore literally can't kill each other even if they wanted to. what do you mean harry wanted to give him another chance despite everything he's done, what do you mean tom offered him his hand, what do you mean harry killed tom at the same age except the order of the numbers is reversed. what do you mean harry's eyes are the same colour as tom's favourite unforgivable (avada) AND the colour of his house, what do you mean TOM'S eyes are the colour of harry's favourite defence spell (expelliarmus) and the colour of his house. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ARE EACH OTHER'S OTHER HALF. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HARRY IS LITERALLY TOM'S SOUL??? 😭

how fitting is it that lily evans, a muggleborn witch, was the one to bring down voldemort? how fitting is it that her love invoked ancient magic, when voldemort didn’t even believe that she had the right to perform magic? how fitting is it that she vanquished his powers through her sheer love for her half-blooded son?

and she was just about the most defiant muggleborn witch imaginable. this is a girl who watched her muggleborn friends being targeted and refused to stay silent, even to her best friend. this is a girl who rejected a pureblooded boy because he was an arrogant bully. this is a girl who defended her best friend against two purebloods, but wasn’t afraid to drop him when he exposed his true bigotry. this is a girl who had the audacity to fall in love with the same pureblooded boy who had never stopped loving her. this is a girl who loved “blood traitors” and werewolves and her muggle family as much as she loved anyone else.

this is a woman who joined the order of the phoenix to fight for others like her. this is a woman who defied voldemort three times alongside her husband. this is a woman who never gave up on her muggle sister. this is a woman who loved her “blood traitor” husband and her half-blooded son with everything she had. this is a woman who was reduced to nothing more than a “silly girl” (dh 344) and a “cockroach” (dh 739) by voldemort, even as he overlooked her most powerful form of magic.

and how heartbreaking is it that the wizarding world never truly understood her impact? harry may have been their “savior”, but it was lily who brought the end of the first war. it was her love that guided harry and helped him to finally defeat the most powerful dark wizard in the world.
