Not to be that person, but if Kamala Harris were a white man with the exact same ideals, positions, and beliefs, it wouldn’t have even been a competition. Realising that the worst thing you can apparently be is a woman, is truly devastating.

Crying at the fact that you can, if you almost accidentally sell Klaasje out to the Sunday Friday, implicate Evrart, Garte, Cuno, the speedfreaks, or the racist lorry driver (which leads to a great little interaction with the lieutenant).

Sunday Friend roasts Evrart.
Tumblr media
You continue your tirade against Garte.
Tumblr media
You judge the speedfreaks and their music. (Not cool. You have no idea how many times their music got stuck in my head.)
Tumblr media
You roast Cuno.
Tumblr media
And oh. If you blame the lorry driver...

AND THEN?

The fact that she sums up being Black as cornrows and Motown offers great insight into why in Harry Potter she gave her only Irish character the name Seamus Finnegan, the most notable Black character Kingsley Shacklebolt and the only East Asian character Cho Chang. Part of me wants to engage with this line of thinking and explain why race and gender are structurally very different despite both being social constructs and then I remember that none of these people actually care about that shit.

someone else could write it better than me but i love how the fucked up nasty shit you can make harry do/say/be in disco elysium isn't just like, random stuff caused simply by the player having free will and control over him but they're parts of who he is and who he has been
you're not a tabula rasa. you're a sudden shock of blank pages in a big, aged, damaged book and sometimes the paper you're trying to write a better man on is torn and you see something through the gaps nobody needed to see ever again. and it's just there now again, back to the surface

I refuse to interact with Harry Potter more than necessary* but let's consider Castelobruxo for a moment. It's a magic school with a (terrible) Portuguese name that apparently has some kind of Native American architecture in the middle of the Amazon (the Amazon! known by its abundance of stone architecture!) and *serves* the students of all Latin America. Now, let's consider this. Does this mean that the Iberian/European style of magic has imposed itself on Latin America? What kind of students did Castelobruxo had during colonial times? What was the nature of magic in the Americas before the arrival of Europeans? Did it participate in the struggle of independence? What was Castelobruxo like during the Cold War?
And no, you can't escape these questions! ALL of Latin America, like the rest of the world, is defined by its relationship to colonialism, imperialism, and the struggle for national (and pan-national) identity and liberation. This is not being too deep, this is the defining thing all of Latin America carries.
Now, consider Hogwarts. Hogwarts is the "national" magic school of Great Britain. There are some international students from what I know, but most seem to come from places the UK colonized (mostly everywhere). How did Hogwarts work and look in the 1900s, when it was the peak of the British Empire?
This is all interesting because in a world where magic is real, you are talking about a fundamental truth about reality. So, if you're saying "such and such magic is fake, this is the true magic, as taught by school" you're both taking the supernaturality out of it and converting it into science, which just sucks from an storytelling perspective, and also, you're presenting it as a truth, and the others as fake. Which has implications. Big implications.
In any case, I've heard that Harry Potter is already ridiculously racist to Native Americans in the little we know about the US in Harry Potter, so...
*yes because of Rowling's politics, but also because if I ever get my own "teens learning about magic" stuff written, I want it to be distant from it

sorry but I don’t think it’s very anarchist to say we have to vote to save our country from fascism/save democracy or whatever
I know this is the fearmongering site but if y’all were real anarchists you’d be able to spot fascists when you see them
but apparently now wanting to build a wall & support apartheid states doesn’t necessarily make u a fascist unless the guy you’re up against is an even bigger racist then you are
I must have missed the memo letting us all know we now measure fascism with a bell curve

As if we didn't need yet another reason to get out and vote this year, the Republicans are trying to resurrect a 167 year old SCOTUS ruling that pre-dates the Civil War. The Dred Scott decision.
The Dred Scott v. Sandford ruling stated;
"The U.S. Constitution did not extend American citizenship to people of black African descent, and therefore, they could not enjoy the rights and privileges the Constitution conferred upon American citizens."
Now, 167 years later, the National Federation of Republican Assemblies is citing a pre-Civil War SCOTUS case as a precedent to deem the California-born Kamala Harris ineligible to run for President.
That's right, folks. Republicans are citing a case that says if you are of African descent, you do not get to enjoy the same constitutional rights and privileges as the 78 yr old white dude born to an immigrant mother. In fact, if you are of African descent, you don't even get to share the same rights and privileges as his immigrant trophy wife.
Let that sink in for a bit. Republicans are so scared of a woman of color winning the election that instead of finding a respectable candidate, they'd rather dig through dusty old pre-Civil War court cases to find any reason to keep her off the ballot this year.
Let's make these old dinosaurs cry even harder this year when Herr Trumpkin loses a second time.

the 2024 presidential election is literally proof about how much more women of color have to work to prove themselves as worthy candidates and how usually? that's not even enough.
kamala is overqualified for the position. she has served in all three levels of law in america, has had an extensive career in politics and she lost out to a wannabe celebrity reality tv show rodeo clown abuser of a man who left our country in shambles at the end of his first term.
and you can bitch and moan all you want about her and all the reasons she may have lost, but in a lil more than 100 days, harris-walz put together a campaign that was razor-thin and competitive all the way through, outperforming biden in a lot of ways. she worked more than overtime and i don't even think she sat down for the whole duration, and despite how you feel about her, that is still 1048131980% more effort than trump put in for his own campaign. trump who spent a good amount of time attacking her personally.
and she still lost. so i dont know about y'all but i feel like this is a good time to take a closer look at the other women of color in your life and appreciate how hard they work because most of the time, it's futile and goes so incredibly unnoticed, but we do it anyway.
