Loathing Desires Teaser
Tumblr media
"I hate you, Holland."
"I loath you too, darling."
The young, beautiful, and successful, Venus Walker, is known for her position managing one of the largest entrepreneur corporation in the world. Living a life in fame and wealth, Venus has worked hard for all of her successions. Finishing business school a year early at the top of her class, breaking through business deals that seemed impossible, and increased Walker Corp. stocks since she had begun working, Venus has proved that she is ready to take over the company.
Waiting for her father to retire and pass the company down to Venus, she continues to overcome struggles and challenges that are thrown in her way. But one problem has been constant throughout generations.
In the world of capitalism, there are a few things that are common: supply and demand, profit motive, and most importantly, competition.
Holland Enterprise has been a rival to Walker Corporation for generations. Starting with their great-grandfathers and has since been passed on throughout generations. The two companies hate another since they could remember. But when Venus is forced to socialize with Tom Holland, what happens when a spark appears between the two?
Will the spark be there from pure loathing? Or is there a deeper connection between the two that finally ends this family feud?

And They Lived Happily Ever After
Epilogue of the (Y/n) Lively-Reynolds series
Tom Holland x Singer/Actress!Lively-Reynolds!Reader
Summary: (Y/n) Lively-Reynolds and Tom Holland get their happily ever after. It goes about as well as you can imagine it.
Warnings: uuh the end there got a bit on the steamy side so just some nice like snogging and plenty mentions of honeymoon sex and nudity, but otherwise you’re good, switching POVs so you’ll get to see everyone appreciating their love, and you’ll get to see the ceremony from so many people’s eyes, including some you haven’t seen yet ;)
Word Count: 3.4k words
Estimated Reading Time: 15 minutes
A/N: I’m not crying, you’re crying, shut up. This is a really emotional moment for me. My second series is finally over!! I started this accidentally, and it took me ages to finish, but I don’t regret a single second of it. It brought me so much happiness, and I loved reading your thoughts and comments as time went on. I only hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did <3 Just wanna send a million thank you’s to @the-girl-in-the-chair for being my test person and the one I could always talk to when it comes to this series, I love you so much Lana, you’re the beeest
I was picturing this dress (mostly cause it has pocketssss) so if you want a visual, here you go)
Also very important: the vows in this were inspired by the PA Series on AO3 and honestly check it out cause it’s just awesome and those are my relationship goals right there

“Alright, sweetheart, deep breaths, everything’s gonna be alright.”
She follows her mother’s instructions, taking in shaky gulps of air.
Breathe in, two, three, four.
Hold, two, three, four.
Breathe out, two, three, four.
Hold, two, three, four.
“Feeling better?”
She nods slowly, then immediately shakes her head.
“No, this is a disaster!”
Blake finally gives up on keeping her dress unwrinkled, sitting down on the floor next to her.
“Angel, everything’s gonna be alright, I don’t even know why you’re freaking out so much. You’re marrying your best friend. You two love each other so much, and you’re gonna be so happy, there’s nothing to worry about.”
She sniffles.
“But there are so many people, Mommy. And they’re all gonna be looking at me. You know I’m not good at the mushy stuff when I have eyes on me, they make me nervous. This is supposed to be perfect, and instead, we had to invite a hoard of insignificant Suits and entitled bitches, all for business. We already give them so much, why couldn’t we just keep this to ourselves?”
She sighs, and brings her daughter closer to her body, crushing her in a hug.
“Cause the world sucks, and it’s all part of the business. You and Tom have been on a break from acting for three months now, and you’ll stay there for another year at the very least. These Suits like to feel like they’re important, and inviting them to events like these keeps up a good relationship for when you come back.
“Besides, who cares about them? You’ll have to shake their hands once at the reception when you’re making your rounds and then it’s over. Don’t let a handful of idiots ruin the best day of your life.”
(Y/n) nods, gently wiping at her eyes, then crawls until she’s in front of the mirror.
“Well, at least we know the waterproof makeup works.”
Blake just smiles.
When Ryan first sees (Y/n) he has to pinch his thigh to keep himself from outright sobbing.
“Hey, no! No, no, no, you’re not allowed to cry, because if you cry, I cry, and if I cry, I’ll trip on my dress. These heels are tall, keep yourself together for both our sakes.”
It’s hard, it’s very hard, that’s his little girl, his sweet little daffodil, and she’s gonna sail off into the sunset with the love of her life.
“Alright, let’s do this shit. Try not to fall.”
He’s glad to see that Tom starts crying the second he sees her, so really it isn’t emotional weakness as much as it is the (Y/n) In A Wedding Dress Effect™.
(Y/n) manages to stay composed the whole walk, although her eyes are shining quite a lot.
“Thomas, if you hurt her, I will do something so unspeakably cruel to you that Satan himself will shudder.”
Tom looks at him with a face full of betrayal.
“What if she hurts me?”
“Oh, she most certainly will, you’re much more emotionally fragile than she is. That’s why I know that if you hurt her, it’ll be over something big, and therefore I’m legally allowed to fuck you up.”
(Y/n) kisses his cheek happily.
“Thank you, Daddy, the shovel talk was long overdue.”
It was actually part two of the shovel talk: wedding edition, but she doesn’t need to know that.
Taylor reaches into her purse and passes Harry a tissue, eyes still focused on the happy couple in the front.
This is it, right here.
The way (Y/n)’s looking at Tom like he’s the second coming of Christ. Tom rubbing his thumbs on her hands cause he just can’t stop touching her. The way they keep tapping each other three times, an endless loop of I love you I love you I love you.
This is what she’s been trying so hard to describe her whole life.
It gets her a little emotional…to remember the little girl who used to gape at her, and who’s now a badass independent woman marrying the person of her dreams.
It’s a lot.
And if she feels like she’s one strong gust of wind away from an emotional breakdown, she can’t even imagine how Blake and Ryan are faring.
“I understand that you’ve written your own vows. Tom, if you’d like to go first…”
He nods and clears his throat, wiping his sweaty hands on his pants before grabbing (Y/n)’s again.
“Do you remember the night we met? When you were crying over a movie and I took you to Burger King to cheer you up?”
She rolls her eyes and Taylor can relate, honestly. The whole world knows that story at this point.
“Vividly.”
He smiles so softly that Taylor’s itching to pull out her notebook and start writing.
“I’ve never told you how I fell in love with you. I always told myself I’d tell you the story in our wedding vows, so here it is. From the moment we left the afterparty, you kept ranting about the movie, about how it’s gonna end, about your theories… And I loved listening to them. There was one moment though, where you just took a huge bite out of your cheeseburger, while mid-rant… and on everyone else, that would’ve looked disgusting, but your eyes were shining so bright, and you were giving me your full attention and that…that was when I knew I loved you. And I would keep loving you for the rest of my life, 'cause there’s no one else in the world who could pull me in as completely as you do, even though there was ketchup dripping down your chin.”
(Y/n) blinks back tears, eyes wide.
“Oh, you fucker.”
That’s love, Taylor’s sure of it.
Now, to be perfectly honest, Harrison thinks those vows were shit.
Seriously?
You looked disgusting but I still thought you were hot?
That’s his big wedding speech?
As the good Best Man he is, he’s considering smacking Tom upside the head and making him start over.
He’s not expecting (Y/n) to like it to the point of tears, though.
Like, I’m sorry, but what the fuck?
He’s lucky he’s an actor cause no ordinary person would’ve been able to keep the confusion out of their face, and you don’t want a hoard of confused people on your wedding pictures.
(Y/n)’s turn now, and hopefully, she’ll do better.
“I promise that your ability to cook, clean, and remind me to eat only make up sixty per cent of why I’m marrying you.”
Harrison has to fight back the urge to sigh and facepalm.
“I wasn’t planning on liking you, let alone falling as deeply in love with you as I did. My plan was to hate you, make all my fans hate you, and do it fast enough that Marvel would have no choice but to replace you with Andrew again.”
From the audience, Andrew laughs.
“But unfortunately for me, you’re not easy to hate, and let me tell you, I tried really hard. You slithered your way into my heart like a particularly stubborn snake and I had no choice but to let you carve out your home within me and prepare myself for the inevitable heartbreak.
“That still hasn’t happened. For some reason, you’ve chosen to ignore the fact that I’m a barely-functioning sarcastic bitch whose favourite way of showing love is through insults and slaps on the ass.
“I don’t know why you chose me, and I expect I’ll be thanking every deity out there for the rest of eternity for putting you in my life, but I know that I couldn’t have chosen a better partner if I had tried.”
She pauses, and Harrison thinks that maybe, just maybe, at least one of them will have said nice vows.
“Also there’s no way I’m gonna live in a world where I can’t bite your ass on the daily, so you better say I do or I’ll end you.”
And he spoke too soon.
Tom still reaches behind him to grab the tissues Harrison was told to bring. Maybe his best friend was dropped on the head as a child, so now everything makes him emotional.
Nikki keeps her eyes firmly on her son and daughter-in-law as they flit around the room greeting their guests. She and Blake have made it into a game of sorts.
Every time (Y/n) wipes her hands on her dress after shaking hands with a Suit, Tom pulls her back by the waist, or the happy couple are asked to kiss, they take a sip of the very expensive and very tasty red wine provided for them.
The sound of clinking glasses feels the air once again and Blake tilts her glass.
“Bottoms up!”
And that’s one more glass finished. How far along are they now? Five? Six? She looks around at the empty bottles. Maybe a little bit more.
“Oh, my God, I’m so glad it’s over if I had to deal with another second of that, this wedding would have turned into a remake of Saw!”
(Y/n) slumps down heavily onto the chair, toeing off her heels until she can bring her knees to her chest and lean on the backrest.
“Why did we have to have a wedding? We should’ve just eloped. It would just be us, maybe I’d fly us out to Iceland and we could get married in a hot spring, I’m sure the water would do wonders to relax us, no?”
Nikki fills up her glass and hands it to (Y/n), who immediately downs it.
“Look on the bright side, tomorrow morning, you’ll be on a flight to Syros and one step closer to a full month spent only with your husband and the inordinate amount of cats on that island.”
Nikki’s been there. It’s amazing. They should plan a family holiday there.
“I agree.”
Oh, she’s talking out loud now.
“Yes, you are. But Nikki!”
(Y/n)’s eyes brighten, and she feels her arm get grabbed and pulled towards her brand new daughter-in-law.
“You said husband. I have a husband, I’m married!”
Yes, if someone had to marry her sweet little boy, she’s glad it was someone like (Y/n).
“And now, please gather around to watch Mr and Mrs Holland have their first dance as a married couple.”
While they get into place, Harry shares a look with his own husband, sitting primly at the piano, staring back at him.
When (Y/n) and Tom first came to them, shily asking them to sing If I Could Fly as their wedding song, Harry burst into tears. He just loves love, and to be a part of something as monumental as a first dance-
He really should have said no cause Louis just started playing and Harry’s already having a hard time holding back tears.
But the way Tom and (Y/n) stare at each other- that’s how he stares at Louis. And it’s the look he sees reflected back in his husband’s eyes every second of the day.
Love is just such a beautiful thing.
For your eyes only I’ll show you my heartFor when you’re lonely and forget who you areI’m missing half of me when we’re apartNow you know me, for your eyes only
He feels privileged to even be in the same room as them. It’s no secret that (Y/n)’s fiercely private. She loves, deeply and wholeheartedly, but not for others to see. She loves each person in their own special way, pieces of her heart are cut, shaped, and fitted to fit her feelings for everyone around her. But her love for Tom as it’s shown today is a sight to behold.
It’s the sun after long dreary weeks. It’s the first flower bloom after months of cold, harsh weather. It’s seeing the stars out in the countryside after a life spent in the city.
It’s fragile. It’s new. It’s special. It’s lovely.
Harry loves love, but he thinks that right now, he may love their love the most.
Georgia takes yet another sip of the very expensive but very tasty champagne offered.
To be honest, she didn’t want to come. Weddings are boring, if not for the open bar, and knowing that she isn’t really welcomed here isn’t making her feel particularly better. I mean, she’s met (Y/n) all of once and they mostly trash-talked the Kardashians, she can’t have made an important enough impression to be an esteemed guest.
But, the Lighthavens are an important family in the film industry, earning them an invite to the most awaited event of the year, and it would look bad if someone didn’t show up to represent them.
Still, being twenty-seven and single, there are many things she’d rather do than sit by the open bar getting smothered by other couples’ happiness while she wallows in her own misery.
“Whiskey sour, please.”
He turns towards her.
“And refill the kind lady’s glass.”
Oh, goodie.
She barely spares him a glance, eyes still focused on (Y/n), flitting around the room.
“Enjoying the wedding?”
She shrugs.
“It’s entertaining.”
He puts a hand on his heart in fake offence.
“Ouch. As the Best Man, it’s my job to ensure everyone’s having the time of their lives, so tell me, what can I do to make this night more enjoyable for you?”
She turns towards him, taking in the ruffled blonde hair, white shirt sleeves folded up to his forearms, vest and tie discarded somewhere.
“Actually, your job is to stop any upcoming crisis so the groom doesn’t get blamed and inevitably murdered by his newly-aquired wife.”
She steals the whiskey from his hand and starts drinking it. He blinks dazedly but dutifully orders another.
“Your unhappiness could quickly become a crisis, though. As much as she hates to admit it, (Y/n) doesn’t like it when people are miserable, especially when she’s having so much fun.”
She sighs.
“Do you know who I am?”
Panic shoots through Harrison’s eyes. It’s fleeting, and it’s subtle, but it’s real.
“Am I supposed to?”
Interesting.
“You’re telling the truth.”
He shrugs.
“(Y/n)’s motivated me to be more honest, although I can’t quite see the benefits she’s always raved about as of yet.”
She smirks into her glass.
“You genuinely have no idea who I am.”
A single mention of him from her lips and his acting career would shoot through the roof.
“I’m sorry. Although from how happy you look, maybe I’m not?”
“What’s it gonna be?”
He’s saved by the bell.
“All the unmarried people out on the floor I wanna see which unlucky bastard will have all grandmas pinching their cheeks and cooing cause they're next.”
A collective groan was heard throughout the crowd.
“If it helps, there’s a hundred-dollar bill in the bouquet that you can keep.”
That got people moving.
Harrison takes a look at her ring finger.
“Not gonna join?”
“If you out me as single, I’ll end you, there’s no way I’m doing this.”
He shrugs.
“Suit yourself. I’ll be back as soon as I’ve broken whatever fight will undoubtedly come from this bouquet tossing.”
He stands on the sideline, ready to stop things from escalating.
The bouquet lands in his hands.
(Y/n) squeals.
“Oh, fuck yeah! Even with my back turned my aim is impeccable.”
Tom pushes him forward when Harrison’s reluctant to move and whispers something in his ear.
Georgia doesn’t break eye contact while he walks towards her and takes a lavender rose out of the bouquet.
“Here. It matches your dress.”
Alright so maybe weddings aren’t that bad.
It’s a testament to his patience that Tom waited until the hotel door is closed before pressing (Y/n) up against the wall and getting started on his Wedding Night Ravishing.
“Fuck, I can’t believe we actually pulled it off.”
She mumbles through their kisses and to be fair, he kind of can’t either.
“I swear to God- we got him the perfect fucking girl- if he doesn’t invite Georgia on a date- fuck, baby- I’ll kill him myself.”
He starts trailing kisses down her neck, slowly unzipping her wedding dress.
It’s pretty, and it’s special, and it has pockets, he’s not gonna rip it, thank you very much, he wants to have ‘just got married’ sex tonight.
“Georgia’s a tough one to get to, you said it yourself. He’ll have to work for it.”
She pulls his hair harshly until they’re eye to eye and he moans. His pupils are probably about as blown as hers right about now.
“You had to work for me.”
He licks his lips and her eyes trail on the movement, mouth falling open unconsciously.
“And what a good fucking decision that was.”
And if there’s one thing that never fails to get her going, it’s that.
“How loud do you think you can make me scream before the other residents complain?”
Challenge fucking accepted.
(Y/n) lowers her sunglasses a tad, wanting to take in her husband in all his blazing glory, no filter in between them.
Whoever invented honeymoons was a fucking saint. One month of a near-constantly naked Tom more than eager to fuck her into the nearest solid surface made for a very happy (Y/n).
Currently, she’s sunbathing on a pool chair with a mimosa while Tom is swimming laps in the pool. Or was. Now he’s getting out and the water’s trailing down every single inch of him and suddenly she’s not as thirsty for champagne and orange juice-
“Princess, are you listening?”
Her eyes flit back up to his face.
“Don’t ask me the colour of anything, this isn’t fair, you’re distracting.”
He chuckles and climbs over her, tasting the mimosas right out of her mouth.
“I’m distracting? You’re distracting! Do you know how hard it was to swim my usual laps while you’re just laying here, happy and calm and naked and mine?”
She grins smugly.
“I can feel how hard it was, yeah. I’d ask if you’re up for it, but I kind of already got that answer, so you should just hurry and get it in.”
For a few more glorious seconds, she gets lost in the kiss and in his hands moving along her body, getting so close, so close-
“No, but actually I did get out of the pool for a reason.”
In the back of her mind, she remembers Harry in that one concert saying this is called edging after stopping Kiwi for the millionth time, and the way Tom grabbed her waist and pulled her towards him, smiling in interest.
If she weren’t such a good person, she would have kicked him in the balls for that.
Unfortunately, she needs those, so.
“Haz got a date with Georgia.”
Her jaw drops open and she slaps his arm happily.
“What the fuck, are you serious? Tom! This means it worked! We got them together! We’re the best fucking matchmakers in the world!”
Tom chuckles and flips them over until she’s straddling him, running his hands from her knees to her waist, where they dig in just a little.
Great idea, if you ask her.
“Calm down, darling, it’s just one date.”
She hums.
“That’s what I said about you, and now look at where we are. We’re married and on our honeymoon.”
His eyes all but sparkle at that.
“We are. We’re married. I’m your husband, and you’re my wife, and we’re married.”
She leans down, can’t stop herself from snogging his face off when he looks so sweet and happy at the prospect of spending eternity by her side.
“And we’re gonna live happily ever after, right?”
“And we’re gonna live happily ever after, princess.”

i’ve got a haz request 🥰. so you had a previous bad boyfriend who was very toxic and you’re good mates with harrison and after you break up. you like harrison but you don’t want to get hurt and so you turn him down and then later he convinces you that he won’t hurt you and yeah he manages to convince you that he won’t and you get upset but it’s all cute and fluffy.
Hope I did this ask justice!!
-
Harrison was your best friend. Well, not really. Best friends weren’t in love with each other. Your last relationship was a mess to say the least and left you with a broken heart and trust issues. A few months after, Harrison had told you he was in love with you and you panicked. You ran away from him and ghosted him until he showed up looking like a crying mess at your door, begging for you to just talk to him because he missed you like crazy. And you couldn’t deny the fact that you missed him too. A lot more than you’d like to admit.
It was a rocky process at first but eventually you and Harrison were back to being best mates, ignoring the fact that both of you were completely in love with each other but that’s okay. You were too scared of relationships now and expected only the worst thanks to your last relationship. Obviously you knew Harrison wasn’t like your ex but you couldn’t help but be scared.
Lately, you and Harrison haven’t been hanging out as much. You used to spend everyday with each other and have sleepovers but now Harrison is apparently always ‘busy’. You knew that all the excuses he used were bullshit but you were yet to know why he was acting so distant. So after a long two weeks of Harrison being MIA, you decided to surprise him at his house with chinese takeout and a night in. Who would say no to that?
Harrison’s last excuse was that he was extremely sick so when he opened the door to his apartment looking healthier than ever, you didn’t know what it meant. “Oh, um- Hey” He stutters, surprised to see you. “Some cold you have there” You scoffed, shoving the takeout in his chest and turning to leave feeling so dumb. Harrison stood there for a second, still not understanding why you came here if he ghosted you, before dropping the takeout and rushing behind you.
“Y/N, wait!” Harrison called as he grabbed your arm and turned you around to face him. You shoved your arm out of his grip, scowling at him. “Fuck off, Harrison”. You never call him Harrison, always Haz, so once you said his real name he knew you were angry.
“I’m sorry I lied to you, okay?” Harrison rushes out as you looked like you were about to leave. “What the fuck do you mean ‘I’m sorry I lied to you’ Harrison, that’s not how it works!” You yelled at him. “I don’t know what you want me to say!” He huffs, defeated. “Why did you lie?” You calm down and ask him.
Harrison looks away from your eyes and scratches the back of his neck. “Fine, don’t tell me”. Just as you were about to leave, Harrison grabs onto your arm again. “Okay fine, I’ll tell you! Just come in, at least- please” He pleads and you don’t answer and walk into his apartment. You stand there as he closes the door and puts the takeout on the table.
You never just stand there, this is basically your second home. But this time you wait until Harrison gestures for you to sit next to him on the sofa, sitting on the other end of it. Harrison sits down and rests his hands on his knees, looking down at the ground like he was trying to find the words to give you an explanation.
Harrison huffs, looking up at you nervously and bites his inner cheek. You patiently wait for him to speak as he tries to stutter out sentences, but then goes quiet. “Y/N- I, um, I don’t want to be friends anymore”. That was the last thing you expected to hear as your heart dropped to your stomach. “What? Why- Why not? Did I do something?”
In a second your anger was replaced by disbelief as you pleaded for him to change his mind but Harrison shook his head. “You can’t do this Harrison, you’re my best friend!”. “Exactly Y/N!” He burst out, getting up from the sofa, “I’m your ‘best friend’! ‘This is my friend Harrison!’ I’m sick of it! All of it!”. You look at him shocked, trying to push back the tears that were threatening to fall.
“I cant just stand there and act like you didn’t shatter my heart into pieces when you rejected me last year! I love you, Goddammit! I want to be with you! And I know Tristan broke your heart but I’m not Tristan! I would never do that to you, I’ve always been there for you and I always will be! But I- I cant do this anymore Y/N” His voice cracks as he takes in a deep breath. All you do is gulp as he desperately waits for an answer.
“So that’s it?” You muster up through your shaky voice, looking up at the glossy eyed boy. “Fucking hell Y/N, why don’t you trust me? I love you, why won’t you just give me a chance to prove that to you?” Harrison pleads with broken eyes, sitting back down next to you as you look down at your feet.
“I’m scared Harrison! I don’t fucking know what to do anymore after what happened! And I know you love me and that you’re different, and I’m sorry! But I’m scared, okay? I cant handle getting my heart broken again, no matter how much I love you!” You admit, letting the tears fall as you hold back a sob. Harrison’s mouth falls open and voice quiets down, “You love me?”. “Of course I love you Harrison, I’d be an idiot not to love you” You say quietly, wiping your tears.
“Then be with me Y/N, let me show you how you’re supposed to be loved and treated. Give me a chance to prove you wrong, please- I’m begging you here.” He takes your hand into his and you bite your lip to suppress any sound, sniffling. “Look at me, please” His voice cracks making your heart hurt as you look up at him, tears falling down his face mirroring yours.
“I- I don’t know” You whisper as he looks into your eyes with so much hope. You wanted to give him a chance but so much fear was spread in your body. Harrison reaches one of his hands from yours to your cheek, wiping a tear that fell and moves closer to you. “I love you, okay? With everything in me, Y/N. You’re it for me.” Harrison whispers to you, silently begging you to give him a chance.
“I love you too, Harrison” You let out with a deep breath, voice cracking. His thumb caresses your cheek as he waits for your answer, his nose now red along with his cheeks. “Do you trust me?” He asks quietly. You take his hand that was resting on top of yours and place it on your other cheek, “With everything in me” You reciprocate, looking up at the boy.
Harrison does a double take before leaning forward and pressing his lips against yours, taking you by surprise. You kiss him back with just as much passion, sighing in relief against his lips. He pours so much love into the kiss, years of holding back now gone. You can taste a mix of both of your salty tears but neither of you care.
You move to grip the back of Harrison’s neck, pushing him closer to you. He gets up and slightly hovers over you, pushing you against the back of the couch as he lets out a breath against your lips. As soon as you pulled away, Harrison grabs your waist and pulls you on his lap making you squeal. He squeezes you against his chest as you wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him flush against your chest.
Harrison kisses your neck and cheek, before kissing behind your ear and whispering to you. “I love you, so much, can’t believe you’re mine now.” and you pull him closer. “You have me now, I love you Haz” You mumble into his shoulder, kissing it lightly. Both of you stay like that for a while before falling asleep, and you can easily say you didn’t regret trusting Harrison because he was the best thing that ever happened to you.

CHAPTER 1
The sound of something bubbling in a cauldron and a strong smell fill the small room. There’s a physician tending to what could be assumed to be a potion, his face is focused and partly covered by long grey hair that is starting to grow whiter at the top. He is humming to himself, unaware of the young woman watching him from the open window. Waiting for him to leave before she gets caught, not that she ever gets caught, but one can ever be too careful. She’s not there for the potion brewing on top of the fire, no, her sight is on the yellow liquid inside tiny vials on the other side of the room. The antidote to a new flu that’s starting to spread around different kingdoms. The main villages, the big ones near the castles, have no problem dealing with it. Their physicians have access to the herbs and other ingredients necessary for the antidote, all of them provided by their kings who order them from far off lands. Smaller villages that are often overlooked by their rulers, don’t have the same privilege.
So here Emersyn is, stealing some vials from King Salazar’s physician to take to with her to the village of Westbelle. It was the village where she grew up in, the one that welcomed her every time she came back and the one that wasn’t wealthy enough to afford a cure for the flu. There haven’t been many affected by it, only 5 people so far but with the virus spreading so fast she wanted to get the vials to Westbelle’s physician, Milton, as soon as she could. A few of them would be enough, he was talented when it came to rationing ingredients as one has to be when things are so scarce.
The physician Emersyn had been spying on stops humming which makes her focus on him once more. He’s putting on green cloth gloves and taking the cauldron out of the fire, setting it aside and extinguishing the flames with a bucket of water. As he puts the bucket back by the barrel of water next to the door, there’s a knock. “Lyon? His Royal Highness is calling for you.”
“I’ll be right there.” Lyon says to the guard who had stepped inside the room, making Emersyn duck her head just enough to see but still avoid being seen.
The guard nods and stands by the door as Lyon stirs the potion a couple of times and adds some herbs. “That should do it. Let’s go, it needs to rest for two hours anyways.” Lyon opens the door and the guard follows, closing the door behind him and giving Emersyn the chance, she was hoping for.
She waits a couple of minutes before climbing in through the window, quiet as a mouse and her steps careful around the many cauldrons the physician has lying around as well as the jars on the shelves. She moves towards the yellow vials, reaching for one but noticing they aren’t sealed, so she walks to a nearby desk to look for cork stoppers. “Seriously Lyon, organize your desk.” Emersyn mutters to herself, opening drawers, moving papers and opening boxes to find what she was looking for. “Aha!”
In the last drawer there’s a clear jar full of cork stoppers, so maybe Lyon wasn’t that disorganized. She takes 8 vials, sealing them shut and double checking they won’t leak on her way back before carefully placing them in her backpack. Bells ring outside, from the chapel probably, and startle Emersyn who takes a step back and knocks down an empty cauldron. She turns around and is glad that the cauldron barely made any noise, that is until it starts to roll away towards a shelf full jars with ingredients. Emersyn flinches as five jars fall to the floor and break making a racket, then the door bursts open. With a deep breath, Emersyn turns towards the guards by the door and smiles.
“Good morning, boys.” She crosses her arms behind her back.
“Let us see your hands, thief! Return whatever it is you stole, immediately!” The guard on the right demands, pointing his sword towards her. He’s tall and blond, his eyes are dark brown and determined. The guard by his side though, looks like he’s about to pass out by the nervous look in his eyes.
Emersyn puts her hands up, leaving them close to her bow and arrows. “Come on, no need to make a scene. It’s such a nice day outside.”
“We don’t care, now, put t-that bow on the floor and h-hand over the backpack.” The nervous guard manages to get out which makes the thief smile.
“No can do, boys. Like I said, the weather is lovely outside, so I might just enjoy the outdoors.” Emersyn takes her bow and arrow, shooting one at the tall ceiling in the physician’s office, just above the window. There’s a rope tied at the end of it which she uses to climb towards the window, at a speed that’s helped her escape in many occasions. How her arrows hold her weight? Emersyn doesn’t know, an old lady in her village says they’re probably cursed but Emersyn doesn’t mind if it gets her out of situations like these.
“Stop that thief!” She hears the guards yell but pays them no mind as she climbs out of the window and uses two arrows to climb towards the roof. The red roof tiles have lost some of their color from the sun and crack slightly as Emersyn steps on them and starts to run.
The kingdom’s alarm goes off and she hears guards start to follow her. Turning her head to look back, she sees that there was a door near a watch tower which the guards had used to get on the roof. “Where was that door when I needed it?” She rolls her eyes and picks up the pace, scanning her surroundings, thinking about her next move. To her left the roof forms an L shape but there is another watchtower with a door. Emersyn assumes more guards will come out of it any moment now, so the left side is not an option. She looks straight ahead and smiles as she spots a tall tree. It would be a big jump, she thinks, but I might make it. Grabbing the arrow and the rope, Emersyn takes aim as she nears the end of the roof jumping as far from it as she can manage before shooting her arrow at the tree she had spotted. She holds on tightly to the rope, yelling at the strain of being pulled by it and cursing at the splinters she’s getting from the trees branches as she sinks halfway on them.
“Follow her!” The same blond guard from before yells after her. “Now!”
“Good luck.” Emersyn smirks, climbing down the tree and starting to run west.
She’s weaving through the trees left and right to use them as cover, and she manages to get a little more than a mile between her and her pursuers before she hears the distant sound of horses galloping behind her. She scans her surroundings, the river still flows on her far right, so she makes so sure to avoid it in case the guards decided to chase her using their boats as well. Instead, Emersyn decides to move closer to the mountains knowing the high ground will give her an advantage against the guards and their horses. Just as she finds a path towards the uneven rocks at the base of the mountain though, a low growling reaches her ears, this sound closer than the horses in her pursuit.
“No, not them again.” Emersyn mutters, picking up her pace knowing that the other party chasing her were much faster than horses.
Here’s the thing, ever since Emersyn had to fend for herself on her own, some strange creatures stared chasing her. They had the body of wolves and the head of a lion, their fur was grey and green and their fangs looked incredibly sharp. Most importantly, they always managed to find Emersyn no matter where she went. They could lose her trail for a couple of days before they were on her tail once more. Lately though, they were getting even better at finding her, managing to do so in at least a day and sometimes in less than twelve hours.
A glance backwards confirms her fears and she forces herself to run even faster when the creatures jump over some hedges and get close to her. Emersyn is breathless but she has to get to those rocks and try to get away, she also doesn’t want to shoot any arrows at them because they look like huge kittens and she doesn’t want to hurt them. The creatures, however, seem to have no qualms about hurting her. Once Emersyn gets close enough to the rocks at the base of the mountain, she decides to shoot an arrow as high up as she can with the rope attached to it so she can use it as support to climb. The creatures catch up though and are fast enough to jump on the rocks leading up to where she’s hanging in the air. Emersyn stops mid climb and swings towards a nearby pine tree, knowing that it would be harder for the creatures to follow her that way. She curses at the splinters she gets on her fingers but wastes no time while climbing higher up, the creatures growling and jumping below her as they try to reach her. Trying to come up with a plan as fast as possible, Emersyn scans her surroundings and smiles when she spots a path up a very steep and rocky hill to her right. Taking a deep breath, she takes another arrow and shoots it towards the path. She makes sure the arrow is secure and she ties the end of yet another rope on a branch before using her backpack to get from the tree to the mountain once more, grunting when the rope gives out and she almost falls down towards the creatures. Taking the arrow and the rope with her, she starts to climb up the steep path thankful for the creatures not being able to reach it. One glance back makes her unaware of a downward slope at the top of the path and she slips towards a dark cave, which’s dark tunnel leads out to the middle of two big mountains.
There is a tall tower next to a lake and surrounded by several apple and orange tress. The tower is grey, with vines and wildflowers growing on the bottom and slowly making their way towards the top. Its roof is light blue and easily lost in the color of the sky and several golden details around the windows look like they have faded throughout the years. Emersyn hears the creatures snarl again in the distance and that is enough to get her running once more. She makes her way to the tower, grabbing onto the vines to climb and reach the open window on the easter side of the tower. There is a faint smell of roasted vegetables in the air as Emersyn gets closer to it before gracefully jumping in. She turns around and glances out of the window to see if she had been followed but there is no one out there except for her, and a beautiful view. Emersyn can see hints of the sea to her left beyond the mountain, the sun which is starting to get lower, gleams on the water like diamonds. Emersyn has little time to appreciate the view though, because suddenly there is a sharp pain on the side of her head, and everything turns into darkness.
--
Four voices speak up from their place in the tower’s kitchen.
“Is she the one that matches your heart Harrison?” That is Jeffrey the pitcher, his tone is excited as he sees the only other person he’s ever encountered since his time in the tower.
“Will she get you out of here?” Daria the oven speaks up next, the oven door squeaking the tiniest bit as it moves with each word.
“But he doesn’t know how to control his powers yet! He never uses them.” The grumpy voice of the clock, Martin, matches its reprimand towards the prince. Although he is fairly annoying with its need to follow rules, he has taught many life lessons to the prince as grew up during the last few years.
“Hush!” Stephen, the stool that is usually by the window, interrupts Martin before he can lecture the prince further, getting them all back to the matter at hand. “Harrison, why did you hit her?!”
“I panicked okay!” The prince says. “It’s been 6 years since I’ve seen another human and I am paranoid.”
Harrison had hit the girl that jumped through his window with a pot. Guilt fills his heart, but she had startled him and seeing as he had been making dinner, the pot was the closest object he could use to defend himself. His friends though, are more interested in knowing if she is the person his fairy godmother had said would rescue him, than on the fright she had given him. The prince had been humming to himself as he put more vegetables into his stew, the cozy atmosphere of the kitchen keeping him at ease and more cheered up than he usually is. It had taken him months before getting used to living in the tower and making the place feel like a home, but deep down he knows nothing will compare to the warmth and love that has filled his kingdom.
The prince gently moves the girl so sits on a chair, he also puts her backpack as well as her bow and arrow out of reach from her so that she doesn’t put an arrow through him when she wakes up. He keeps the pot on one hand as the other moves the hair that had fallen over her unconscious face away from her eyes and- “Wow.” Harrison breathes out. The prince is sure he has never seen someone so beautiful.
He feels a nudge on his leg as his dog Chip sits on his side also assessing the intruder. The chocolate Labrador nudes his leg again, as if urging him to wake her up but Harrison pays him no mind. He isn’t sure what to say when she does wake, or what she’ll do when she figures out she knocked her out with a pot.
“She’s beautiful.” Stephen says, to which the rest of Harrison’s friends agree.
The prince nods in a daze as his eyes scan the intruder’s face. She has thick dark waves, her skinned is beautifully tanned and kind of freckly, he assumes she spends a lot of time in the sun. There is a line that’s starting to form between her eyebrows, like she furrows them a lot and her eyelashes are both long and dark and fan out above her cheeks. Just as the prince leans closer to her face, the girl wakes up with a start which startles him and makes him drop the pot while his hands catch fire for a second.
Harrison’s mind short-circuits for a moment. Purple eyes. She has purple eyes, and now she’s speaking, what is she saying?
She is furrowing her eyebrows at him. Harrison makes a mental note that he was right before about that as tilts her head in a questioning manner. Her gaze shifts from him to his hands. “Wow you must have hit me really hard on the head or did your hands really just catch fire?” She shakes her head soon after her question and scans her surrounding as she stands up. “You know what? I don’t have time for that. Thank you for hitting me in the head with your pot but I have something very important to do.”
She’s wearing dark green pants, a long shirt black and a wide brown belt that has small pockets here and there. Her clothes are mended in several places and her black boots are covered in so much mud they are practically brown. There are scrapes on her hands as well as multiple cuts and splinters, but Harrison can’t stare any longer because she’s side stepping him and heading for the kitchen.
He sees her spot her backpack where he had place it before, on the floor by the kitchen table and near Clemence to look after. “No, you can’t leave!” Harrison says trying to stop her, running to stand in front of the window.  “You have to help me.”
She looks over her shoulder at the prince, an amused smile appearing on her face before she speaks. “Not off to a good start with the whole asking for help thing. You did hit me in the head. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” As she reaches out for her backpack and arrows, Chip grabs them both and runs to the other side of the room. Daria then moves to stand in front of the open window to the right of the intruder.
“We can’t excuse you just yet, not until you’ve agreed to help him.” The oven says in its calm voice, trying to keep any conflict form escalating and hoping to convince the girl.
The intruder is confused for a second, but she shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly. “Surprisingly that’s not the strangest thing that’s happened to me,” She looks at Harrison. “Please tell the oven to move.”
“Her name is Daria.” The prince says approaching her.
The girl sighs in exasperation, rolling her eyes. “Okay Daria please move, I really need to get going, and dog give me back my backpack.” Her eyes land on Chip who is lounging comfortably on her belongings. Chip merely tilts his head at her in question, starting a staring contest of his own until Harrison speaks up once more and takes the stranger’s gaze away from his dog.
“His name is Chip, and I’m Harrison.” He extends his hand out at the girl for her to shake but she only nods in greeting and doesn’t disclose her name. His heartbeat picks up and there’s a feeling of dread swirling in his stomach. This is his only chance of getting out of the tower, of seeing his family again. He feels his eyes water at the thought of them, are they doing alright? Are they safe? And do they miss him just as much as he misses them?
“Please just hear me out, it’s kind of a long story but I’ll keep it short.” Harrison takes a step towards the stranger, knowing nothing about them but not caring. He feels something deep within him and it makes him trust her, he knows she’s who his fairy godmother meant when she told him someone would rescue him. This intruder with purple eyes might be his only hope.
Something changes in those purple eyes when she scans his face and her features soften the slightest bit. Her foot taps impatiently on the floor and she looks around as if assessing her options before huffing and nodding, She walks back to the chair where she was previously sitting and crosses her arms across her chest. “You’ve got 5 minutes.”

His family back in London. His best friend who’s career had also taken off and though they were roomates they never had time for one another. His first love that was torn apart by a dumbass decision. He wished he could take it all back. All the stupid decisions he made in the past that could have been the other way around if he choose the right choice. What happens when he wakes up one day in the life he should have chosen?

I thank you for your patiences and wish me luck. Idk when the next part will come out but don't worry it’s happening. Also you know, just feel free to send me an ask anytime like I don’t mind (PSA this is my favorite look ever pic is definitely not mine)

After Blythe’s little incident and a good ten minutes of Lennon tending to her daughters small wounds they finally were able to calm her down before making their way back to the party. Tom was still overwhelmed by what happened earlier and it made every worse case scenario run through his mind. It was mostly about how he imagined Lennon finding out. The more he thought about telling her the more he backtracked his plan all together. Tom wasn’t going to tell her today. He knew that for sure, but that didn’t mean he could wait forever. Tom didn’t know exactly how this scenario would play out but he really didn’t want to at the least. He didn’t want Lennon to hate him and he also didn’t want her to act like she forgave him automatically.
He decided he needed to find the right opportunity because that’s what is best for everyone. He needed to wait it out because he still didn’t know if it was permanent, so why would he jeopardize it. If Blythe had come in a few moments later he would be hating himself even more. No matter how much he wondered if Lennon's lips were still as sensational as he remembered them to be. Another part of him wondered if he felt guilty just being so close to having an intimate moment with her how much more of that would build up inside of him.
Lennon brushes the curls out of her daughter's hair one last time before giving her a soft smile, “Are you going to be okay now?” The girl sniffed and nodded watching her mother stand up. Lennon turned to Tom giving him a sorrowful look and it made him panic even more because he knew what it was for.
Lennon and Tom grabbed the food while Blythe trailer behind them as they all walked back outside. Tom noticed more people than he did before, but that was because he just wasn’t paying attention earlier when he walked in with Xio. He saw many faces familiar, new, and old. It made his mind wonder on how the hell he was going to converse with them and still take on the persona of this other Tom. It was easier for him to talk to Harrison and Xio because they knew it wasn’t him. It wasn’t easy to talk with Lennon, but he was comfortable in the small conversations they have had so far.
“Can I go back to playing,” Blythe asked her mother in a more chipper mood looking at a few kids that Tom didn’t recognize.
Lennon nodded looking down at her. Blythe smiled rushing over to them stumbling a little. “Be careful please,” Lennon yelled at her letting out a sigh, “That child is a spitting image of you, I swear.”
Tom looked at Lennon shaking his head, “She’s a hundred percent you.” He meant every word their daughter was definitely a copy Lennon from the short time Tom knew her. Blythe didn’t have to do much to tell Tom that she was Lennon’s daughter because she was so much like her. He didn’t have to think about the fact that she had the same physical features as him but her mannerisms were like her mother’s.
Tom couldn’t remember much from his childhood. Well, he couldn’t remember some things, but he did remember Lennon. She was always so happy and full of energy. She never seemed to slow down and kept him on his toes when he was around her. When something sad would happen she would be back to herself in no time. Blythe proved that to Tom just mere seconds ago when she was a mess and then went straight to her task before she got hurt. It was almost scary how much their personalities were almost the same.
Lennon just scoffed at Tom rolling her eyes, “You only say that because you’re too stubborn to realize she is a girl version of you.”
“You can’t tell me that child who is stopping to pick the dandelion to make a wish is mini me,” Tom asked as he watched the five-year old stopped dead in her tracks looking down at the weed before picking it up and holding it tightly with one hand squeezing her eyes shut as the children rush pass her before blowing it out with the biggest smile on her face.
Lennon let out a laugh, “Well, I remember both of us doing that if I do recall.”
Tom smiled softly, “I’m glad I did because most of my wishes came true.” Well not exactly for him but the other him. You’ve learned by now Tom has always had the biggest crush on Lennon no matter how much he didn’t want to admit it. Lennon liking him back was a shock and he never expected her to return the feelings no matter how many times Haz told him to grow a pair and ask her out. She was too perfect for him
Lennon gave him a sly smile rolling her eyes, “You were always one for cheese Tom.”
Tom shrugged, “What can I say?
“Ah, Thomas, nice to see you not overthinking things,” a thick Irish accent said behind him making the hairs on the back of his neck. Tom knew it anywhere because it was one he had to reason with when was dating Lennon and to be honest it still gave him anioxty to this day.
The funny thing about Lennon’s father, Alex, is that he is the living embodiment of James Bond, Pierce Brosnan’s version, of course. One of his most fond memories of Lennon’s father is when Lennon, him, and Harrison went to see Mamma Mia in the Cinema. He took Lennon home after and he was face to face with the man when walking her to the door swearing he would break out into a song by ABBA at any given moment, or run off with some Meryl Streep doppelgänger to Kalokairi. He would never do that to his wife though. They were far too in love.
It wasn’t that Tom enjoyed Lennon’s father’s company it’s just something you don’t exactly need when you have everything else running through your mind. Having to deal with the man he had been afraid of since he started dating Lennon wasn’t at the top of his list. He respected the man as much as he did his own father, but he knew that in his old life the man probably hated his guts. Tom won’t blame him for it because he would only blame himself. Hell, he already did.
Tom let out a nervous laugh that didn’t have to be forced because his he was so anxious he was scared Alex would sense something off about him because it has happened many times before. The man was like a bloodhound on a search for its owners next game while on an afternoon hunt. “Well I am trying. Being laid back was a goal I have for the new year of my life.”
Lennon's father took a sip of his drink before winking and pointing at Tom mere seconds after the glass left his lips. “That’s always been a good goal of yours. Glad you are finally living up to it.”
“Awe, come on dad, Tom has already been doing that,” Lennon beamed looking at her husband making Tom give her a timid smile. Alex gave him a look that Tom has seen before.
He was having serious déjà vu and it wasn’t the good kind. It was like a happier version of the memory before and Tom was slightly scared. The memory was when Tom asked for her father to approve him asking Lennon for his hand in marriage. They were never engaged when they called things off but Tom wanted to do it so desperately.
It was at a dinner party Nikki decided to hold for something Tom couldn’t quite remember, but he did at the time. It was only them and a few family friends nothing too special; him and Lennon were a few months into their relationship that still felt surreal to Tom.
He knew he needed to talk to Alex and he was scared out of his mind. He feared rejection the most because he knew the man hardly trusted him when he was just friends with his daughter. Lennon was off with Xio and a few other girls that were invited and Tom took the chance. He saw him standing on the porch talking to his father and knew it was now or never.
Taking a deep breath he walked over to the tall Irishman trying his best to not stumble and fall on his face while on the way to ask the man the question that will change his future. As he approached closer Tom had second thoughts but he tried his hardest to hide them so it wouldn’t get the best of him. He was sticking to his plan no matter how much he wanted to not ask all together.
Alex noticed Tom approaching upon first glance and gave him a smile. Tom looked between the two men giving them both a nod while putting his hands in his pockets.
“Lennon leaves you alone for a couple of minutes and you don’t know what to do, am I right Thomas?” Alex said smiling down at him earning a laugh from Dominic.
Tom smiled nervously, “Uh, no, actually I came over here to talk to you about something. I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”
“Not at all,”  Alex reassured him, “This old man was just getting a good point around about London’s traffic laws.”
Dominic shook his head, “I’m sure we can continue our political debate later. Perhaps over another game of golf. I can play easier so I don’t win.”
“I think that’s how you play naturally Holland,” Alex playfully said back earning a laugh from Dominic.
Tom’s father looked towards the kitchen at his mother who was motioning for some assistance from him and let out a site tucking his hands in his pockets, “I suppose the spouse is calling me. Perfect timing for you, Tom.” He gave both his son and Alex a nod before walking off.
Tom gulped, he hoped it wasn’t noticeable to the man standing in front of him because if he knew how terrified he was there was no telling on what he was going to say in their next conversation.
Alex slung his arm around tom’s shoulder patting letting out a chuckle, “Your father is something Thomas. Maybe that's why I like you so much.” It was something said so simple, but it gave Tom a spark of hope and eased his nerves at the thought of Lennon’s father liking him. “Now, my boy, what is it you need to talk to me about,” Alex asked as he lead tom to a secluded part of the Holland’s yard stopping looking down at him as he waited patiently for Tom to speak.
Tom stood a little taller than normal adjusting his jacket as he tried to relax his shoulders, “I, uh… well sir you are well aware I have liked your daughter for a while. Even before we were dating.”
Alex narrowed his eyes at Tom. It wasn’t out of anger, no, far from it. He was doing it because it seemed he was trying to piece together at what Tom was getting at. Alex is an intelligent intellectual that can seem to figure things out quickly and it usually was a problem or a person that he was able to solve. Tom, however, was scared to say anything before the man spoke. He felt like he was constantly trying to impress the man. “I’m well aware of you’re infatuation for my daughter, yes. You two have been dating for a while I hope you’d at least expect me to notice.”
Tom’s eyes widened, “O-of course, Sir. I had no doubt that you are i-in-informed of Lennon and I.”
The man let out another deep throat chuckle, “Now Thomas, you don’t need to act nervous around me we’ve known each other for quite some time and I think it's only fitting for you to not stress so much around me.”
But that was the thing, everything that was going through Tom’s mind at the moment was making him nervous. What he was doing could make or break him and Lennon’s relationship. He was scared shittless to say the least. He cleared his throat hoping years of acting school and control of his voice could help him the situation he was in, “Well, you see, what I’m going to ask might.”
“What would that mean,” Alex asked his voice laced in concern. It caught tom by surprise. It only made tom’s mind wonder to Alex thinking the worst-case scenario. “Is there something you need to tell me Thomas.”
It was that look.
Tom let out a nervous laugh, “I guess I said that wrong and can see where you are interpreting what I’m saying as something negative, but I promise it's not.”
The olderman placed his hands on his hips, “Well go on.”
Tom took a deep breath, “Well let me start out by saying I love your daughter more than anything. I think she is breathtaking and her flaws are just as beautiful as her perfections. Lennon has taught me how to stay grounded through everything and has given me more second chances than I could count. She is amazing and has this presents about her that makes me want to know than I already do about her. Even our relationship started as friends she is always proving that she is the one that I’ve always wanted to have a life with as I grow older. I know your gonna say we are too young and that I’m crazy for even thinking you’d say yes. And believe me I have prepared myself for your rejection-”
“Yes.”
Tom didn’t even processes Alex’s reactions. “I just want you to know that I’m not going to stop asking, because I know she is my future. Not some stupid movie deal or another musical opportuinity… What?”
“Yes, Thomas you have my blessing.”
“You’re serious.”
“I can take it back if you like and say no,” Alex state bluntly.
“No!” Tom said a little too loudly making some of the people close to them turn to the sudden raise of his voice. He cleared his throat, “No. I uh- I just- I didn’t think that would work out so well.”
“For Christ sakes,Thomas, don’t tell me you have flashcards prepared.”
Tom let out another laugh, “Something like that yeah.”
Alex rolled his eyes, “You try too hard. I do trust you, Thomas, because Lennon trust you. Do I think I’m crazy for approving for my daughter to marry so young? Yes, but I rather it be with you than some son of a bitch that I know wasn’t good for her.” He looked over Tom’s shoulder and smiled.
“Hi dad,” he heard from behind him, “Tommy.” The two men didn’t say anything. “Did I interrupt something?” Lennon raised an eyebrow before intertwining her fingers with Tom.
“Not a thing Lennonbug,” Alex said smiling at his daughter proudly before giving the same look to Tom.
This was everything he wanted.
However, he didn’t want to think about the look Alex was giving him right now, “How have you been improving Thomas?”
Tom’s palms were sweaty as Lennon gripped his arm. This wasn’t him being scared shitless asking her father to marry her. This was him being scared shitless on what to say to the man in front of him in an opposite way. “Just… going with the flow…” Tom mentally cursed himself because he would never say that.
Both of them gave Tom an odd look before looking at each other. Before either one of them could speak on Tom’s choice of words the voice of Nikki came from the front porch, “Okay everyone lunch is ready. Let’s hurry and eat before Harry dies of starvation.” Before everyone could trample over to the plastic table outside that was filled with a full buffet Nikki stopped them, “But before we do so we should congratulate Tom for achieving all that he has. I’m proud of you for blessing me with the two most adorable children and the best daughter in law a mother could ask for.”
Tom smiled at his mother nodding in appreciation placing a hand on Lennon’s back. “Thanks Mum,” there was a slight pause as if everyone expected him to say something else, “What are we all standing around for let’s eat, I’m famished.”
The guests cheered before making there way to the table. Blythe ran up to Tom grabbing a hold of his had pulling him towards the crowd of people waiting in line, “Come on Daddy we need to hurry up if you want to get something to eat.”
Lennon laughed at the little girl, “Hang on little bird we need to wait for our turn. There are still going to be quite a bit of food left by we get to the table.” She turned to Tom, I’m going to get Eli and make sure you don’t put too much on her plate. We don’t need the incident we had at the twins party. As for you,” she turned to her daughter, “ You need to at least have a few vegetables on your plate if you want any cake.”
“Okay, Mummy,” Blythe let out another annoyed groan tugging Tom’s had more. Making him
practically stumble to the line of family and friends.
The party unfolded like any other everyday gathering with Tom able to avoid questions his brothers threw at him throughout lunch. Most of which were covered by Xiomara, and the slight uncomfort he felt when Lennon got up to go get something from the kitchen didn’t help his current situation.
Just when Tom thought he couldn’t bare his siblings grilling him about his current life a sense of relief came over him as the voice of Lennon came through the back door. Her smile was as bright as the glow of the candles lit brightly on the cake she was holding. Her voice carried the familiar tune as everyone else around him began to sing happy birthday.
Lennon set the cake down in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder making him tense up. He made sure to not flinch so much. Being put in a situation that might make everything go away the next day made Tom start to panic. What was he supposed to do in this situation? Everyone tuning into the song with their gaze on him. Blythe plopping down next to Tom leaning over looking in awe at the pastry in front of her father.
“Make sure you wish for something good daddy,” The little girl whispered as the short song came to an end. He knew that but what the hell was he supposed to wish for. She looked over at him with her doe eyes, “Can I blow them out with you?”
Tom gave her a tight smile nodded allowing her to slide into his lap as everyone huddled around them. Tom shut his eyes and told himself to just live in the moment. With Blythe’s weight shifting in his lap and the feeling of Lennons hand on his shoulder this moment couldn’t have been more perfect. He couldn’t wish for this life to last but he could just let it temporarily engulf him with happiness.
That was his wish to just see what happens next with what could have been.

Loathing Desires (5)
It was a stunning day in New York City that fine Friday afternoon that perfected Venus Walker's infamous yacht party. The sun was blaring over the city, a faint breeze was felt to decrease the scorch, and not a single cloud in the sky was shown. To Venus Walker's luck, everything has been running smoothly. Almost too smoothly.
Influencers, models, and CEO's filled the luxurious yacht that was Venus' sixteenth birthday gift from her parents. Waiters and waitresses walked the three-level boat handing out the finest selection of wine and champagne that costed more than rent for majority of New York citizens. She was pulling all of the best cards she had today. She was Venus Walker and this was a crucial time she could not afford for her appearance to slip.
Venus stood on the top deck over looking the main deck covered with billionaires all laughing and talking over the faint live music being performed at the back of the yacht. A crystal glass was in her freshly manicured hands consisting of her favourite red wine that was lightly stained by her pink lipstick near the rim. Small black sunglasses rested on her nose and covered her eyes as she searched for a specific billionaire. Her luxurious blonde hair was tied up in a bun with two strands framing her face, and the dark green blouse was matched with a beige cargo pants that fitted her outfit together by beige stilettos.
Venus Walker stood over the others like a queen over her citizens. Or more like a lion over it's prey.
"Everything is running smoothly, Ms. Walker." Amelia's voice appeared behind her. "All guests have arrived and the captain is beginning departure."
The corner of Venus's lip raised and began drumming her finger on the gold rim of her crystal wine glass. "And Mr. Downey?"
"Him and Mrs. Downey arrived minutes ago. The captain welcomed them personally and took them to get some wine and the engine room. They are awaiting for you there." Amelia explained.
"Excellent." Venus breathed out turning around. "Thank you, Amelia."
Amelia nodded wearing similar attire to her boss. The gorgeous woman's hair was curled past her shoulders and an earpiece was hidden behind the locks. Her navy blouse was tucked into a grey pencil skirt, with a clipboard tucked between her arm of tasks and the guest list. "You ready?" She asked with a soft smile.
"Always am." Venus nodded leaving her glass on a table and followed her assistant down the flight of stairs to the main level.
The boat had began to depart from the docks and the crew was closing up the gate. A few paparazzi was seen near shore trying to snap photos of who was aboard for the latest gossip magazines but from this distance, they were undoubtedly blurry.
Amelia muttered something into her earpiece walking alongside Venus to the captain's engine room to welcome Mr. Downey. The warm air hit Venus' face walking along the edge of the boat that overlooked the beautiful New York city and the Statue of Liberty. A few guests smiled and acknowledged Venus as she passed and she curtly responded with a faint smile and handshake before excusing herself.
As Mr. and Mrs. Williams went on their way, Amelia stepped back in line with her boss. "I forgot to mention your brother called earlier."
Venus hummed. "What about?"
"He wants to know if you can make it to his birthday. It's next month but he really wants you there." Amelia spoke softly and Venus let out a guilty breath.
For the past two years, Venus has missed her baby brothers birthday because of work. She always had the intent to go but there was always a dilemma or delay that caused her to miss it. Although she apologized profusely by giving the most extravagant gifts known to man, nothing can ever make up for the absence of her at her brothers birthday.
"Tell him I promise to be there this year." Venus inquired. "This year, there is no excuses." Amelia nodded, jotting a note down on her clipboard as a reminder for later.
Two figures stepped out of the bar near the back of the boat and Venus froze in her tracks beside Amelia. The two men were laughing mockingly and drinking her wine clearly enjoying their time on her boat.
The two men's laughter faltered when noticing the two women staring daggers at them. Tom Holland's smile turned cocky the moment his eyes fell onto Venus'. Black sunglasses hid his eyes but Venus knew the corners were creased from how wide he was grinning. A loose white and navy collared shirt was tucked into black dress pants. The first few buttons were undone for comfort and his hair was more messy than usual from the spring air.
The man beside him is someone Venus never met but knew from magazines and articles. He was Tom Holland's best friend, Harrison Osterfield. His blonde hair was a dead giveaway if it wasn't for his sharp jawline. He wore a white basic t-shirt with navy dress pants. Alike Tom, he was wearing sunglasses hiding his eyes but Venus felt them studying her.
"I was wondering when you were going to welcome us aboard, darling." Tom teased bitterly approaching her and Harrison followed smugly.
Venus jaw locked and her body went hot with anger. "Who let you aboard? You weren't on the guest list." She snapped walking over to him visibly agitated by his appearance. Amelia rushed along to defend her boss.
"No but my best mate, Harrison, was." Tom slapped a hand on Harrison's shoulder who grinned widely in return attempting to hide it with his champagne glass as he took another sip. "Seems like someone slipped up and invited his entire modelling agency. Harrison was blessed to bring a plus one and thought of his childhood friend." His voice sang.
Venus exhaled deeply and Amelia shuffled on her feet guiltily. A mistake was made but Venus would deal with Amelia later, right now she has to figure out how to get Tom away from her and Mr. Downey or even better, off this yacht.
"Look, Holland-"
"Come on, darling. We have been friends for so long, you can call me Tom." Tom cocked his head with a teasing smile.
"Holland," Venus corrected crossing her arms. She licked her lips and took a deep breath, "Stay out of my way. Don't act dumb, we both know why you are here. But I swear on my life, if you try to-"
"Try to what, Walker?" Holland's voice snapped bitterly. He took a step closer and even in heels, Tom hovered over her. His smile was replaced by a scold and his dimples were gone as his jaw clenched in anger. "Sign Mr. Downey before you? Oh, Walker. You don't scare me and you never will. I'm not like the other hundred of business men you've met before. I am not afraid of a little competition."
"Neither am I." Venus challenged back. "I am not like those other business women you've met. I won't back down from a little banter and a smirk. So don't think that you're going to win this, Holland. Because I can take whatever you give me." Tom's jaw clenched harder and Venus raised her chin with a smirk on her lips.
"Walker, you better be ready to eat your words-"
"Venus!" The voice shouted behind Venus and they both flinched in recognition. Venus' eyes shut tightly and questioned to herself of how all these men snuck on the boat without her knowledge until now.
Yet another person she would talk to Amelia and security about. Someone was definitely getting fired tonight.
Tom looked past her and he shuffled between his feet stepping back from Venus and she turned around ignoring the burning gaze on the back of her head to face Elijah Hill. Plastering on a smile, she took a few steps towards him. "Elijah, what are you doing here? I thought you were in Florida for a business trip?" Venus asked.
Alike the others, Elijah was wearing more causal clothes of a basic black collared shirt and some grey dress pants. His hand pulled her in from her lower back and his other hand held her cheek that was a sign of dominance and possessiveness, welcoming her into a heated kiss that took her, and the others, off guard. But Venus saw the action as inappropriate and unnecessary therefore she placed her hand on his chest and pulled back. The two never display public affection unless there was paparazzi around but Venus knew the reasoning behind Elijah's actions.
Her guess has to relate to the brunette man behind her whose name is lurking around the media with hers.
"Can I not surprise my favourite girl?" Elijah smirked planting a kiss on her forehead and is eyes glanced over her head to the three standing behind her. "Oh, Holland. Didn't see you there. Nor did I expect to see you here, at all." He egotistically smirked and Venus had to use a lot of self control to not roll her eyes.
"Hill, it's been a while. I see your still sleeping your way to the top." Tom bluntly admitted with a tight smile taking a sip from his champagne glass. Harrison hid a laugh through a cough and Amelia stepped back from the battle field that began to brew.
On either side of Amelia was a strong stand off. Tom Holland with a confident front had the defence of his best mate, Harrison standing slightly behind him. On the other side was Venus with her arms crossed defensively glaring at Tom and Elijah's hand resting on her waist. Elijah's grip tightened and Venus bit her cheek at Tom's statement.
"Holland-" Venus tried but Elijah beat her too it.
"Jealous, Holland? I bet your too busy sucking up to your daddy and mommy to win over the business, then be able to settle down." Elijah snapped back, his voice laced with venom.
Tom twitched with anger. Venus watched his hand grip the spine of the glass tighter and his jaw tighten so hard she thought a vein would pop. She knew little about Tom but she knew he prioritized his family greatly. Disrespect them and you'd surely regret it.
"Elijah-" Venus tried yet failed again, her voice almost a whisper.
"Jealous?" Tom laughed taking a step closer that Venus felt the warmth of his anger in his voice. "I would never be jealous to be sleeping with a woman who spreads her legs for anyone and has no emotions. We all know you're just dating her for the public appearance and the sex, but it wouldn't surprise me if she was seeing other men on the side. I mean, how pathetic is it that you, Elijah Hill, are running after her like a lost puppy just so you can get a little publicity from it. Admit it! You both are so pathetic." He spat in their faces with a mocking smirk on his face, swirling the champagne in his glass. "The little business woman who sleeps with anyone from her major daddy issues and the coward business man who sucks up to a whore to gain some attachment and publicity." Tom's laugh stained in her memory and he took a long sip of her expensive liquor.
Venus thinks she heard Amelia gasp and Elijah say something but she wasn't sure. Each word, insult, and joke was like a bullet directly to Venus feelings. Venus has been working in this business a long time. She has been named every insult possible and she managed to always brush it off.
The media calls her ruthless, cold, and heartless, while others call her attention-seeking, a slut, and greedy. Everyone always wants more power and wealth but no one realizes the labels that come with it. There are dozens of articles, magazines, and gossip channels would spread rumours of Venus. But sadly, she was used to it. Being a woman in the business industry that was controlled by men, she had to be.
Regardless of how hard Venus works to escape these labels and titles, they always seem to appear. Tom Holland was just a small example of this. But no matter how often she hears it, Venus can not deny how much the words impact her.
"How fucking dare you say that shit!" Elijah's voice began to raise and released his grip from Venus panting heavily. He attempted to step around her but her small hand shot out, stopping him by his chest.
All eyes fell to Venus as she took off her sunglasses and placed them on top of her head. She took a heavy breath as her delicate eyes glanced to Elijah before landing on Tom. A heavy silence fell over the scene as Venus stared up at Tom. Amelia began texting Venus assumed was security and Elijah muttered something under his breath but Venus' attention was fixed on the span of satan in front of her.
Anger radiating off both of them with mocking smiles painted on both of their lips. The two were like fire and ice bound to destroy another and one day, one of them would be the victor. Tom swallowed thickly and Venus felt his gaze burn into hers shielded behind his sunglasses.
Venus took a small step towards him and out of Elijah's grip, studying the man in front of her. Her heart was beating loudly in her chest and the blood rushed to her head.
The smack of Venus' hand against Tom's cheek echoed against the yacht's exterior and his jaw tightened from the impact. The air felt heavy and thick as Venus glared up at him with a gentle, innocent smile. "Watch your mouth, Holland." Venus sweet voice whispered peering up at him through her thick lashes. "I have tried to be civil and play nice but you are taking it to your advantage. Maybe if you stop thinking with your tiny-dick ego for once in your life you would realize whose truly the pathetic one here."
Tom's nose flared as he refused to make eye contact. "You think you are so special." His voice rumbled lowly.
"And you think you are?" Venus raised an eyebrow. "I have no greater privilege than anyone else here. But shall I remind you that I am not the one who snuck on a yacht and walking around calling you a slut and whore for being in a relationship with someone." Venus snapped back and crossed her arms, a cold glare replacing her teasing smile. "I am a goddamn woman, Holland. Treat me like one."
"You are an absolute spoiled brat who doesn't have to work for anything in life. Everything given to you was handed to you on a silver platter." Tom corrected.
"What about you, Holland?" Venus remarked. "Look in the mirror and take a good look at yourself. Everything you have was given to you by your parents. The difference between the two of us is that I have actually had to prove myself to my family and society. And it looks like if egotistical cocky businessman still think I am a whore and slut, I got a lot more work to do."
The footsteps of security behind her alerted her of their new company and she took a step back from the scene. "Ms. Walker, can we assist you?" Her head security questioned.
"Can you please escort Mr. Holland and Mr. Osterfield to the back bar? Keep them there until we dock and I want them escorted off the yacht and directly to their vehicle." Venus asked playfully smiling up at Tom.
"Worried about my safety, darling?" Tom raised an eyebrow and Venus rolled her eyes.
Elijah's touch grabbed her hands and pulled her back from Tom to make room for security to pass her. Her eyes watched security gesture the two men towards the back of the boat and away from her gaze.
Tom's gaze remained on her until the security forcefully pushed his shoulders back to begin walking. "Watch it, mate. I can walk on my own." Tom snapped at one of the security team that was gripping his arm to move him along. Tom's gaze flickered back to Venus' and a smirk teased his lips, "Might want to get to your meeting, darling. I'm sure Mr. Downey would love to hear more of your proposition. But do me a favour and ask if he is free again this weekend for golf? But this time, the drinks are on me." Tom called out laughing as he followed along his friend.
Venus exhaled deeply and felt her blood boiling in anger. Soon the devil's son and his friend were out of sight but the effect of Tom's presence and words still lingered.
"Ms. Walker, I am so-"
"Save it, Amelia." Venus snapped and spun to face her assistant. "Do me a favour, go make sure no one else uninvited is not here." She hummed sternly. Amelia gulped and nodded, dropping her gaze as she walked off away from the couple.
When her footsteps faded into the distance, Venus faced Elijah next who was smirking in the empty space of where Tom once stood. "I can't believe the audacity of that guy. Who does he think he is?" He asked aloud with a small laugh.
"Who do you think you are?" Venus chided. Elijah's eyes narrowed and fell onto her angry ones, realizing her anger was now directed at him. "For fucks sake, Elijah. We are not in a relationship. This is a publicity stunt and I don't know how many times I have to remind you. You were not invited because I can't handle you hoovering over my shoulder."
Elijah scoffed and his hands fell to his side. "I was helping you! God, Holland was harassing you and I was trying to defend you."
"I had it handled." Venus scolded.
"Yeah, clearly." Elijah rolled his eyes.
Venus let out a heavy breath. "I have a meeting to attend to and honestly, I do not want you in my sight."
Elijah expression fell and stepped closer placing his hands back on her waist. "Look, I'm sorry." He breathed out guiltily. "He gets under my nerves as much as yours and I lost control. I know we aren't officially together but in this line of work, it is hard to build a connection with someone. Whether thats as fuck buddies or friends, I do care for you Venus." His voice became gentle as his expression softened. "I want to be there to help you. So, let me help you." His sultry voice whispered in her ear as his hands travelled around her lower back.
Venus let out a heavy sigh and shut her eyes.
Maybe it was the anger coursing through her veins, her heart racing from the fury, or the tension stiffening her muscles, Elijah's offer sounded perfect. He was the perfect distraction. Tom Holland always left this anger in her heart and Elijah always had the best solutions to resolving this tension.
"Meet me in the masters bed room in two hours after we dock." Venus breathed out looking up at him through her lashes. Elijah pulled his face back with a seductive smirk and she cleared her throat to compose herself. "But remember, we aren't official." Venus narrowed her eyes.
Elijah raised his hands guiltily and nodded. "Just friends." He assured licking his lips.
Venus hummed and took a step back out to fix her shirt. Mr. Downey has been awaiting for her and she can't keep him waiting any longer. Placing her sunglasses back on her nose, she tilted her chin to look up at Elijah in front of her with a short frown.
"Also, change your shirt. The colour is clashing with my outfit." Venus hummed and spun on her heel strutting off towards the engine room.
Elijah let out a low laugh watching the woman walk away. Venus Walker was definitely a strong, independent, and confident woman. It was definitely her world and Elijah was just living in it. But he also knew better than to defy her and scurried off to the masters bedroom where spare clothes would be stored.
The engine room was on the other side of the yacht and to Venus' luck, away from the stern of the boat where he was. When she entered the room with a smile on her lips, Mr. Downey had the captain's hat on and was steering the boat beside the captain as his wife was taking a photo with a glass of wine in her hands. The sight made Venus' smile more realistic.
"Mr. Downey, glad you are enjoying yourself." Venus teased approaching the scene.
Mr. Downey glanced over and his smile widened. "Ah, Ms. Walker! I was wondering when you would be coming." He stated handing the hat back to the captain.
"My apologies, I had something to deal with." Venus stood in front of the couple. "I see you found my finest wine collection. Have you tried the Château Lafite yet?"
"No, but if it is anything like your last suggestion I know it has to be good." Mrs. Downey smiled warmly, falling into her husbands embrace as he placed a hand on her back. "Apologies for the rudeness, but you're Ms. Walker? When my husband told me about the meetings and deal, I certainly thought you would be older." Mrs. Downey chuckled to herself. "It is admirable dear of all the work you do. We need more woman in business and you represent yourself beautifully."
It is ironic on how just mer minutes ago she was being called a whore and now she was being called admirable. But Venus felt touched by Mrs. Downey's compliments. Her own mother has never said anything like that before, being too busy with her own business to look at her daughters.
"Thank you, Mrs. Downey." Venus breathed out speechless. "That's such an honour to come from you."
Mrs. Downey waved her compliment off. "Please, I carry the reputation of my husband on my shoulders. You managed to create your own. That deserves more credit." She hummed.
Mr. Downey placed a kiss on the side of her head and Venus watched the interaction sadly. As Elijah explained, it is hard to meet people in this industry. Relationships rarely work out for businessmen and Venus knew this entering the field. But Mr. & Mrs. Downey is an example that relationships can work.
Venus wishes she could have used her parents as an example but the two travel so much they barely see another. Mr and Mrs. Walker are complete opposites from Mr. and Mrs. Downey. They find time to spend with another, even if it is for work. Suddenly, Venus felt guilty for interfering their time by arranging a business meeting.
"Thank you captain for showing they Downey's around." Venus graced and the captain gave a faint nod. "Have you two been given a tour of the behind the scenes? The chef is a student from France who shows extreme potential and works summers for my family." Venus questioned with an excited smile.
Mr. Downey shook his head. "We can later after we discuss business." He smiled and Mrs. Downey nodded taking a sip of her wine.
"Respectfully, Mr. Downey, I think we can save that discussion for another time." Venus' gaze flickered over to Mrs. Downey with a gentle smile. "It has been a long day and talking about business is the last thing on my mind. If it is alright with you, I would like to show you the variety of treats our chef can create. I know it is not business but I think it is a lot more enjoyable." Venus let out a small laugh.
Mrs. Downey smile widened and looked up hopeful at her husband. Mr. Downey's smile softened from Venus statement. It was rare for Venus to admit she was exhausted and loose her tough demeanor. Instead of a businesswoman, Mr. Downey saw a young woman. Not the Venus Walker plastered across the media. But a woman who is gentle, compassionate, and tired.
Mr. Downey's smile mimicked his wife and nodded softly. "We would love that, Ms. Walker." He graced.
Venus smile widened and stepped aside, gesturing to the door with a smile on her lips. "Shall we?"

Temptress Too Long - 1 - H.O.
Summary: Michaela ‘Mick’ Louviere attends her little sister’s debutante ball and meets a handsome stranger. She decides to take him home. A reboot of an old fic ‘Switch.’
Warnings: alcohol consumption, swearing, oral (female receiving), PnV
Word Count: 7k
A/N: Thank you to @bensbuttercup for the moodboard and for being my cheerleader, thank you to @hollandlovely for beta reading and moral support
A/N: This is a reboot of a fic I wrote about the year ago. It’s entirely different. Different setting. Different stakes. Same characters. When I wrote it, I wrote Tom and Harrison as OCs and have changed their names and stories back for the sake of posting as a fanfic. That’s why some details may be altered from real life. I’m not trying to be as realistic here. Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Debutante season occurs in the first half of the year. For those in Louisiana, it happens before Mardi Gras. On the fourth weekend of January, Le Cercle De Bacchus throws its annual ball, honoring twenty-five of Baton Rouge’s finest young ladies. It’s not a large affair by most standards, but for Baton Rouge, it is the event of the Mardi Gras season. Every young woman aged eighteen to twenty-two applies for the honor, and in a college town, that’s plenty more disappointed than happy when the invitations come back.
The talk of this particular ball, however, thrown on a cold Friday night at the end of January, has not been on the young ladies in white, but rather on a particular young lady wearing a dress the color of the blackest night, standing at the end of the bar and leaving a perfect purple lipstick mark on the edge of her glass.
Her name is Michaela Louviere, but anyone who doesn’t want a glowering glare leveled in their direction knows to call her Mick. She’s happy to sip old fashioneds by herself and listen to the gossip about her pick up as people walk past her and think they’re out of earshot. So far her favorite comments have been the ones pondering if she lost her hair to cancer, because that is apparently the only reason a specific elderly grandmother could think of for a woman of twenty-five to have a buzzcut.
Mick has not attended this particular ball in six years, not since she herself wore a white dress and had long dark locks that had to be held up with an entire pound of bobby pins to be deemed acceptable instead of unruly. Not since before she had an entire sleeve of tattoos down her right arm. Not since she pierced her septum. Not since she’d grown up and decided to stop being influenced by expectations for how she should behave.
She longs to be given permission to leave, but she hasn’t seen her sister yet. Magnolia Louviere, always shortened to Maggie by everyone except their grandmother, is held up taking photos with everyone from her escort to her entire sitting sorority, the Delta Gammas of Duke University, flown from North Carolina to Louisiana on their father’s dime just for the weekend. Mick knows how that goes. She didn’t have a sorority, but she had a few friends, and Maggie, to take pictures with after her own debutante presentation. With DeeDee, her mom, snapping orders about lowering her chin, and Lou, her father, making faces over the tired photographer’s shoulder when Mick’s smile had gotten too fake.
Now she avoids the room off to the side of the hall where all the crisply hairsprayed curls and caked on makeup is being photographed. She is aware that per DeeDee’s orders she was technically required to be in family photos. However, she has deemed herself too “alternative” to fit in with her own picture-perfect blonde family. Until she sees Malc.
“Mick!” he bellows, his deep voice carrying over the hotel ballroom the way he barks orders across the whirring of machinery on the oil rig where he sometimes works for months. “Momma says you better get your ass in here and take some photos with your sister!”
Mick groans and downs the rest of her old fashioned, the sweet bitters stick to her lips even after she digs her lipstick out of her purse and reapplies it, checking to make sure it isn’t in her teeth on the screen of Malc’s phone that he holds up for her as they power walk through the back hallways they both know well.
“I figured I’d stick out too much,” Mick mutters out of the side of her mouth.
“What?” Malc is so tall he never hears her if she doesn’t yell. She figures that’s why he always seems to be yelling at everyone else. That, or he’d gone half-deaf listening to metal in his car in high school.
“I said I thought Momma wouldn’t want me in photos,” Mick says at full-volume, lifting her chin to point the sound upward toward his ears. She gestures to her general self.
“Nah, you always look great Mick,” Malc assures her, patting her on the shoulder with a hand the size of a dinner plate. “You know she doesn’t care what you look like, just that you show up.” Mick doesn’t know that. But she doesn’t argue. It’s easier not to argue.
The two of them couldn’t look more different at first glance. Mick is all dark eyes and hair and angled cheekbones and prominent collarbones in her strapless black ballgown. Malc, short for Malcolm, the oldest of the Louviere siblings and by far the largest, towering over his already tall sisters with a frame of large muscles built from swimming and covered in a layer of chub that seemed determined to stay since he turned twenty-seven and that he carried well, is Mick’s opposite and resembles their mother and sister. They all have blond hair, blue eyes, and skin that browns in the sun like a cookie in an oven. Mick’s skin stays as pale as their mother’s wedding china and in the summer she simply looks “less like a dead body” according to Maggie.
But there is something in the way they move together, long legs eating up the ground and single eyebrows raised at each other, the way they nudge each other around corners and twitch their noses the same way, something that reveals they aren’t simply related, but had grown up together and shared the same parents.
“There you are, Mouse,” Lou bellows in a voice as deep as his son’s, his Cajun accent coming out stronger with the glass of Scotch and the stress of the evening. “We were all looking for you.”
“Sorry Daddy,” Mick says sweetly. “I didn’t realize y’all were already getting pictures,” she lies just as smoothly as she slips into her parent voice.
“Mick!” Maggie calls, waving her over and shoving her escort away. “I want a sister picture!”
Maggie is just an inch taller than Mick, a fact she’d been so proud of the day Mick came home from college and pointed it out, and every day since then. She has buttery blonde curls that Freddie the hairdresser has been highlighting for five years, round cheeks with the same sweet dimples as Mick, and large blue eyes that light up any room she bounces into. Her appearance fools almost everyone, and the applause had come with a tone of shock when it had been revealed that she majored in biomedical engineering and played division one volleyball at Duke.
Above everyone else, Mick adores Maggie. She would do just about anything to make her happy, including pose cheek to cheek with her, their matching dimples pressed together as the photographer’s flash blinds her. She would even sit through every photo of every possible combination of family members her mother suggests, because she knows keeping DeeDee happy was the key to keeping everyone else happy. But Mick is also the one to speak up when she sees Maggie’s smile droop.
“Hey Momma,” she whispers, gripping DeeDee’s fingers, “I don’t know if Maggie’s eaten yet.” DeeDee, with her blonde hair, highlighted even lighter than Maggie’s, sure doesn’t look like it, but she is always the smartest one in the room. A lawyer who helps battered women successfully divorce their abusers, DeeDee’s care instinct is probably her strongest trait, and Mick knows exactly what to do to activate it.
“Alright everyone I think that’s enough photos!” DeeDee calls, clapping her manicured hands together exactly once. The entire family breaks and Mick takes the opportunity of chaos to hike her dress up nearly to her knees and slip out of the room as fast as her long legs could carry her. She can’t stand any extra time around the people she’s felt trapped with all day.
Upon her return, her spot at the bar isn’t waiting for her. It is occupied by a bespoke blue suit that is expensive, but nonetheless not correct for a white-tie ball, which requires men to wear tails. The blue suit holds a glass of scotch and laughs with a black blazer and jeans, who is definitely not dressed to be there, but who is charming the two mothers holding cocktails next to him. He gestures wildly as he tells a story, and Mick thinks she catches a British accent, but she also hears a New York accent, so she isn’t sure what the case is.
Either way, she’s going to have to work up the courage to ask the blue suit to please move his elbow so she can squeeze in next to him at the end of the bar and ask for another old fashioned. She takes a deep breath, adjusts her breasts, and lifts her chin, sauntering up next to him with pursed purple lips and a placid look in her eyes.
“Excuse me,” she says in her most Southern Belle voice and is satisfied to see him leap immediately out of his seat like a scolded schoolboy caught out of class. She feels the familiar flash of power course through her body.
“S-Sorry,” he stammers. This time, Mick definitely hears a British accent. “Would you like to sit?”
“No thank you,” she looks him over, taken aback by how handsome he turned out to be. “I’ll stand.” She plans to ask him to dance.
His name is Harrison Osterfield. His friend Tom has talked him into gate crashing what appeared to them to be a ball or at least twenty weddings happening at once—with all the girls walking around in white—just for the open bar. They are both twenty-three and comfortable enough at society functions to blend in even without fitting the dress code. And Tom is charming enough to talk them out of any trouble they might get into.
Harrison is tall, all lean muscle, with icy blue eyes that seem to look right into people’s souls. While Tom is shorter, stockier, thicker through the waist but still sporting the same six pack under his black t-shirt and blazer as the one beneath Harrison’s crisp white suit button down and suit jacket. The image for which they both work their asses off in the gym.
When Mick appears next to him, Harrison feels like he’s been hit by a fucking freight train. She has him literally leaping to his feet to please her. He is pretty sure he’s never seen someone as striking as her in his life. Buzzcut, earrings from her lobe to an industrial bar, dark makeup around even darker eyes, a ring through the center of her nose, a girl he’d normally expect to see at a punk club, not a high society ball.
But instead of talking to her, he just swallows and watches her long fingers tap-tap-tap on the bar, gaze fixed on the silver ring with a purple stone wrapped around her thumb, and the venus symbol tattooed on the side of her wrist. He really wants to ask her something, but he can’t. Nothing in his head seems good enough.
Mick makes sure he doesn’t catch her studying him as she signals the bartender for another drink, but she can feel his presence on her left shoulder. The way he looks at her is familiar. It’s the way a lot of guys look at her. Preppy fuckboys who have never seen a girl dare look like Mick and carry herself with the confidence of a goddess.
She likes him though. Deep in her gut she likes him. Which is why it isn’t hard to reach behind her for his hand as she ignores her drink. It feels like he squeezes her fingers back as she whirls around. The three drinks from earlier are barely a blip in her system. She’s been doing it for far too long.
“You’re a party crasher,” she says, intrigued. He seems like he’d be a great cherry on top of a mediocre night.
“Yeah.” He can’t even lie to her. If Tom noticed Harrison at all, he’d call him whipped, but these days they have grown more distant. They don’t need to be inseparable to be best friends. Instead, Tom is chatting with a pretty, but plain girl in a simple pink strapless dress who hangs onto every word he throws in her direction. The moms have moved on. Harrison finds Mick much more interesting anyway.
“Well,” she sighs and begins backing away from him, away from the bar, still holding his hand, “I guess if Im to play my part right, I’m gonna let everyone see me dancing with you, and then I’m going to take you home and probably, most likely, fuck you.”
Harrison is absolutely positive that he misheard her. Her accent is incredibly difficult for him to understand. So he ignores everything except the part about dancing with him. He inhales deeply, catching a hint of spicy perfume and sweat mixed with good whiskey as she tugs him closer to her, arranging his hand just beneath her left shoulder blade, his other supporting the fingers of her right.
The band has long since retired and been replaced by a DJ but soft piano notes and Christine McVie’s voice fill the air as Mick and Harrison settle into each other’s arms.
“Do you have a name?” Harrison bravely asks, looking over her shoulder because she is so close if he tries to look at her face he goes cross-eyed.
“Mick,” she says softly into his ear, her breath a tiny puff against his neck that has goosebumps springing up on his skin. “Mick Louviere.”
“As in Jagger?”
“As in Fleetwood,” she chuckles softly. “This band actually.” She nods towards the speakers that gently stream “Songbird” by Fleetwood Mac.
“Oh,” is Harrison’s only reply. He’s never heard this song in his life. It takes Mick a moment to remember her manners, and grow curious.
“What’s yours?”
“My what?” Harrison’s heart is fluttering harder now. Her name flashes behind his eyes against the front of his mind in disco lights over and over. Mick, Mick, Mick.
“Your name,” she says, her voice dropping lower as they slowly dance in a circle, Mick glowering at anyone who dares cast a judgemental glance in their direction.
“Harrison Osterfield,” he manages to croak as he remembers it through the way his brain screams her name and it is a miracle he doesn’t just repeat her own name back to her. Whipped indeed.
“I bet they call you ‘Haz,’” Mick muses. Just in his periphery, Harrison catches her lip quirk up into half of a smile.
“Yeah some people do,” he admits. “How’d you know?”
“Quite a British nickname,” she murmurs absentmindedly, as if her brain were in another world.
In fact, Mick is daydreaming, nightdreaming, or something, about what Harrison’s life is possibly like. She decides he probably had middle class parents who sent him to public school. He wasn’t an accident but his younger brother was. She pictures him teaching his brother to play soccer wearing a blue hoodie and track pants. They probably laugh a lot.
And then his mom, with blue eyes that match his, would call him in for dinner and he’d ruffle his tow-headed brother’s hair as they walk inside to sit down at the table. His father works in an office and wore a tie. He kisses their mother when he leaves and when he gets home. Harrison os taking a gap year with his best friend before going off to college to study Literature. For some reason she pictures him much younger than herself.
“Mick,” Harrison’s whisper is persistent and snaps her out of the daydream of Harrison with his head in her lap while she read him Maya Angelou and twisted her fingers through his curls. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine,” she says, shaking her head. To hide the vulnerability she is sure is visible in her eyes, she tucks her chin and plants her cheek against his shoulder, her forehead and nose against his collar. He smells like mint and man and expensive cologne.
“Okay,” Harrison murmurs and wraps his arm more securely around her as they continue to sway. His voice vibrates against her face and she swallowed, her heart pounding in a nervous way she is sure he can feel.
For the last minute of the song, both find pure bliss in the arms of a total stranger. Harrison is confused, never having experienced a strong gut feeling before, but Mick knows what this is, and she isn’t going to let it go.
As the song ends she leans back, dropping her hands to hold his fingers lightly by their sides. “If I promise to have you back by tomorrow morning, can I steal you away for tonight?” she asks him. “I assume you and your friend are guests here.”
Harrison nods a little too eagerly. “Where are you taking me?” Mick grins like a Cheshire cat.
“New Orleans, baby.”
--
A dark blue little Audi Q3 rolls up in front of Harrison and Mick outside the hotel. She’d said an Irish goodbye to her family; she’d text Maggie tomorrow, and Maggie would understand. Harrison had shed his suit jacket and vest. A concierge had promised to hang them up in his hotel room and Harrison didn’t notice Mick slip him a fifty-dollar bill to ensure they would be properly returned, clean and in a garment bag.
Now he stands next to her in a black shirt with two buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up, his long fingers shoved into his pockets as Mick passes the valet her ticket and another fifty-dollar bill. She finds  herself licking her lips as she contemplates his forearms, and knows she looks like a cougar—the animal—stalking her innocent prey along the bayou.
Beneath his shirt, and with no vest or jacket to pad his torso, she can tell he rocks a solid body, earned from hours spent at the gym. And his neck, Mick loves his neck immediately. Long, but thick, and rising solidly from a pair of trap muscles that would shame Ryan Lochte. She wants that neck. Make it hers. Leave flowering red bruises up and down the column of his throat and send him on his merry way marked as Mick’s.
Slick as she is though, when her little blue Audi appeared, she beats Harrison to the passenger side door, holding it open for him as if she were the gentleman and he were the lady, relishing in his dumbfounded look as she shuts the door after him before sauntering over to where the driver side door stands wide for her. She presses yet another fifty into the sweaty palm of the valet and collects her key fob, plunking it into the cupholder with a clatter before gathering her full skirt beneath her.
The engine roars to life in a way Harrison doesn’t expect from the car one step down from Tom’s, which means she had customized the engine. He had barely fastened his seatbelt before Mick is zooming out of the hotel, weaving through Lyft drivers to expertly make her way onto the freeway. He expects her to settle down with the flow of traffic, but she never does, even as she presses a button on the steering wheel and instructs the Nav to find her the best route home and play her Spotify.
A long finger, nail painted black, reaches out to touch a button below the screen and it switches from a map to a screen informing them what song is playing. It’s “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton and Mick changes it with her thumb on the steering wheel.
“Fuckin’ hate that song,” she murmurs. “I read Pattie Boyd’s book in college. Clapton was a fantastic guitar player but a real asshole, you know?” She looks at him, clearly expecting an answer Harrison doesn’t have. He has no idea who Pattie Boyd is.
“Uh, sure.”
Mick skips songs, some of them not even playing a note before she dismisses them. He knows she has a screen that shows her the song title and presumably the time until their destination, but she neglects to share that information with him.
He folds his hands in his lap and tries not to take up too much space as Mick drives, weaving in and out of traffic in a way that scares the absolute shit out of him, but he decides that if he dies, he dies, and that’s just fine. He likes adventures.
Mick settles on a song that starts with an acoustic guitar strumming, labeled as “I’m The Only One” by Melissa Etheridge, and Harrison can’t stop himself from nodding along as an electric guitar joins in and Melissa comes in with a deep, sexy contralto voice with an edge of rasp to it. Mick sings along softly, never quite on key, but when the chorus comes around she gives it her all.
She’s never been a singer. Malc was the one who got the musical genes, used them to play bass in a shitty high school metal band before his hyperfixation switched to cars. But Mick is the one who loves music, who feels every song in her bones, who has taken every possible music elective she could while getting her undergrad in business from The University of Texas.
Now, in the car with Harrison. She doesn’t care much what he thinks of her singing, and the drive is an hour (she cut twenty minutes with her speeding) so she’ll have to talk to him eventually, but he at least lets her get through Melissa’s anguished love song before he cracks and begins trying to piece her together.
“So you can’t sing,” he chuckles, relaxing a bit more against her black leather seats that smell as if they’d been conditioned an hour before.
“Ouch,” Mick feigns offense, placing a hand over her heart. “You can’t dance,” she tells him.
“Yeah well I didn’t grow up doing all that,” he waves a hand vaguely behind him. “But I suspect you did.” It is just about the only gut feeling Harrison has about her, that she grew up upper-class. He’s never been able to read people well, particularly women. And he’d spent his late teens and early twenties relying on his handsome appearance and Tom as his wingman to pull. But Mick is different. She looks at him like she’d picked him out of a catalogue, “that one,” she says in her head, one pointer finger solely on Harrison.
“I may have grown up in that scene but those are not my people.” Mick shakes her head. Harrison notices her accent drop off and become less pronounced the farther away they get. “Only went because it was my sister’s presentation and I would do anything for her, including murder if I had to.”
“I feel the same way about my sister,” Harrison admits. “She’s sixteen and I would die for her. No questions asked.”
“What’s her name?” Mick asks, revising her daydream quickly. Brother out, sister in.
“Charlotte,” he says, a faint smile playing on his lips.
“My sister’s name is Magnolia,” Mick giggles, “but we all call her Maggie for obvious reasons.”
“Your parents liked M, huh?”
“Malcolm, Michaela, and Magnolia,” Mick muses. “It’s a real Southern habit to name all the kids starting with one letter.”
“So you have a brother too then?” Harrison asks every question casually, but inside he is bursting with excitement at every tidbit about her. Rather than constructing a movie of her life, he is filing each piece of information into an Excel spreadsheet he keeps going in his head. Siblings, check. Full first name, check.
“Yeah he’s a big dork but I love him and he’s got my back.” Mick barely pauses before switching topics, sensing he might ask about her parents, whom she has no desire to discuss with him. “Why are you in Louisiana?”
“Tom is shooting a movie,” Harrison says, as if that’s a normal thing for Tom to be doing. Which it is.
Tom Holland had already had a fairly illustrious career, beginning, like most British actors, with early work on London’s West End. From there he’s moved on to dramas, many of which earned him awards. His big break came when he was cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, after his contract ended, he was ready to move onto softer roles. Hence, his involvement in the current movie he’s working on; a cliche-filled rom-com set at a college. They’re filming at Tulane.
“And you are?” Mick repeats.
“I’m what?”
“Well I didn’t ask why Tom was in Louisiana,” Mick says slowly, as if he’s completely clueless, which Harrison will admit, he sort of is. “I asked why you are.”
“Oh.” Harrison fiddles with one of the thick silver rings on his fingers. “Officially in the credits I’ll be listed as his assistant, but really we just kind of fuck around whenever he’s not working.”
“So you just follow him?” Mick starts to wonder what Tom’s last name is, because the way Harrison is getting nervous, it sounds like he lives a bit in his friend’s shadow. “Like everywhere?”
“Kind of.” She feels his shrug more than sees it. His shoulders stay tense, creeping closer towards his cute ears.
“You don’t do anything else?”
“Sometimes people call me for modeling gigs,” Harrison admits. “I mean, Tom and I went to school together for acting. His career took off, mine didn’t. It’s not a big deal.”
To Mick it sounds like it’s a bigger deal than Harrison wants to let on. It sounds like he’s really struggling to figure out his place in the world. She reads him immediately.
Without thinking, she takes her right hand off the steering wheel and finds his hand gripping his own thigh, weaving her fingers into his. She likes this one. She thinks she might try to keep him. So that was new.
--
Despite her parents’ considerable amounts of money, Lou’s from business in oil, DeeDee’s inherited, Mick lives in a small single bedroom apartment with a single comfy armchair in front of a small TV, with a lamp and a wobbly table next to it for reading. Harrison hasn’t seen her bedroom yet, but he likes the living room and kitchen immediately. Her kitchen isn’t spotless, but it isn’t gross, and she has a few succulents and a lone cactus sitting on her windowsill.
Within seconds of Harrison shutting the door behind him, Mick begins struggling with the zipper on her dress, her shoulder blades popping out as she reaches behind her, unzipping it fully and unceremoniously shucking it off her body and stepping out of it, the black tulle under the skirt holding it up as she walks away in high-waisted black panties and a black strapless bra. Harrison swallows and steps around the dress as she takes his hand again, leading him towards her bedroom still wearing her heels.
The third thing he notices about her body is the giant octopus tattoo with its long tentacles wrapping around her left thigh. It’s large, done in grey and black realism, and it seems to swim as she walks. Harrison loves it immediately.
He peels his eyes away from her nakedness and stares around her bedroom, filling in details on his spreadsheet. Fleetwood Mac poster, Bruce Springsteen poster, bulletin board overfilled with photos, concert tickets, postcards, playbills, and festival wristbands. There seem to be at least three layers of material on the board, all of it threatening to fall apart at any second. Messy, unmade bed with a stuffed shark nestled among the pillows. A laptop shoved into the corner of her bed. A patchwork quilt of college t-shirts clearly doesn’t match the watercolor duvet or pillows, but seems to be there just for the comfort of it.
She begins cleaning up immediately, tucking away her laptop, the quilt, and her shark and spreading the duvet out. She gathers a few stray clothes off the floor and tosses them in a hamper. Harrison watches from the doorway, his hands in his pockets. Out of the corner of Mick’s eye she catches glimpses of him staring at her, and she likes it, feeling his eyes on her.
“You can like, take off your shoes,” she says as she dashes back past him with her dress in her hands, zipping it up and shoving it into a garment bag. “You can take all your clothes off,” she pauses and looks at him, “unless you want me to.”
“Ha ha,” Harrison rolls his eyes, reaching up with one hand to begin unbuttoning his shirt and untucking it. It’s just about the sexiest thing in the world, a man casually undressing himself knowing he’s about to fuck someone.
Mick perches on the edge of the bed, resting her elbow on her knee, her chin on her palm as she watches him. He’s a little unsure, not used to someone scrutinizing his body quite the way Mick is, not realizing that her gaze isn’t scrutiny at all, it’s abject admiration. His shoulders frame cut pectoral muscles, that give way to a small waist, sculpted abdominals, and a trail of hair below his belly button disappearing into the waistband of his suit pants.
“C’mere,” Mick says softly, her voice low as she reaches out with grabby hands towards him. He kicks his shoes aside and steps over towards her, hips between her knees as Mick reaches up for him, yanking him down by his open shirt to kiss him.
In the seven years since he’d lost his virginity, Harrison couldn’t recall a single time a girl or woman had been so forward with him. He’s so surprised by her that he almost forgets to kiss her back, but manages to regain his ability to move in time for it to not be awkward. Mick’s hands move up his body, sweeping over his shoulders to rid him of his shirt and Harrison doesn’t even wince as it falls in a wrinkled heap on the floor.
“Pants too,” Mick murmurs, half command, half request. But before Harrison can get there himself, her long slender fingers are working the button and zipper of his pants. His chest heaves as he watches her, letting himself imagine those pale fingers around his cock, mostly because he knows they probably will be soon enough. He reaches up to cradle her head, her buzzed hair soft beneath his hand.
Mick purses her lips as she slides his zipper down. Her fingers brush over his cock, already hard, and her breath catches because fuck if there isn’t anything that has her dripping like a man getting hard because of her. He steps back to push his suit pants down his legs and step out of them, removing his socks as well, and Mick leans back on her elbows to watch.
When Harrison looks up at her again, sitting on the edge of the bed in her lingerie with her thighs spread and her heels still on, her words from earlier hit him like a brick to the head. I’m going to take you home and probably, most likely, fuck you, she had said. He drops to his knees without question, reaching for one of her ankles and looking up to check that he is on the right track. Her face is placid, but she gives him a lazy smile and a single nod.
Harrison wonders briefly if he’s ever looked at someone the way she looks at him. A lot of his hookups had been with girls who hoped to score with Tom and settled for him. It used to make him feel like a king, but lately it hasn’t been the same, girls who do whatever he asks, as if they’re hoping he’ll give them a good review or something. It never felt like anyone had wanted him specifically until Mick. She’d barely noticed he had a friend with him.
He plants a single, tentative kiss on the inside of her knee, lifts her leg and lets it rest over his shoulder as he nips at the soft inner skin of her thigh, never sucking hard enough to leave so much as a single mark. He didn’t know her and felt too embarrassed to ask her preferences on hickies. An unfortunate moan falls from his lips when she slides her fingers into his hair and fists it. If she wanted, she could easily control his head now, but she doesn’t, simply keeps a grip on him that has him whining a little as he tongues at the purple and white stretch marks on the inside of her thighs.
Mick wishes he’d taken her heels off before making his way to her pussy, and she’s so desperate to feel his tongue that she’s tempted to yank him over by his hair, but holds back. It’s only when he reaches up to tug her panties down that she releases him so she can balance as she lifts her hips so he can slide the satin down her legs. As he pulls them off, he seems to realize she still has her heels on, and fumbles briefly with each ankle clasp before removing them for her. And then he looks up with those blue eyes and his jaw goes slack.
“Oh fuck,” falls from his mouth before he licks his lips and swallows. “Can I--” he’s not sure how to phrase it, “can I taste you?”
The way he asks is actually so adorable that Mick finds him even hotter. She indulges for a split second in a daydream of dressing him up in cute lingerie and tying his hands behind his back and making him eat her out for hours, but she pushes it away.
“Please do,” she says coolly, trying to act like she isn’t dying to feel his lips on her.
He arranges her leg over his shoulder again, pressing her other leg back to give him more access and Mick can feel his hot breath fanning over her wet pussy and she inhales deeply, sliding her hand back into his hair as he laps at her outer labia.
She’s salty at first and then as he dives in deeper and really gets a good taste, she lingers sweetly on his tongue. From her cool demeanor, Harrison wouldn’t have guessed she’d be this wet, but it has him straining in his briefs knowing that he’s the cause of it, and he’s barely touched her, just a few gentle kitten licks. He hopes she gives him some praise because he really just wants to know if she was happy with his performance.
Oh how the tables have turned.
He’s tentative at first and Mick is impatient, wanting to feel him, so she grips his hair tighter and grinds her hips against his face. His eyes fly open and for a second Mick wishes she had a camera to capture those blue eyes looking up at her with his mouth buried between her thighs.
“Fuck you look so pretty,” she murmurs, relaxing her grip to stroke his hair and brush her thumb across his forehead. He blinked slowly before closing his eyes again, her swollen clit lodged between his lips. He has one hand wrapped around the leg over his shoulder, the other still pushing her other thigh open.
Mick squirms. She needs something inside her.
“Your fingers baby,” she whines a little, “I need your fingers.”
Harrison looks up to watch her face as he removes his hand from her thigh to slip his middle finger between her slippery walls. He prods gently, searching for the place he knows will have her coming hard. He feels the soft, spongy spot and adds his index finger, stroking it softly as he suckles at her clit.
It’s a gentle orgasm that washes over Mick, not harsh or overwhelming, a tide of pleasure that sparks inside her and fades slowly. Her lacy bra slips down around her ribs as she wiggles with pleasure, and she reaches up to grasp at her breast with restless hands, twisting her nipple rings between her fingers.
Harrison pulls away panting as he slows his fingers, and pulls them out. Mick gasps at the loss and sits up on her elbows, looking at him through half-lidded eyes. She reaches for his hand, gripping his wrist and lifting his fingers to her mouth. Yeah, her own cum is sweet, but his fingers taste even better.
As she swirls her tongue around his fingers, she slides backwards, pulling Harrison to his feet and onto the bed. He crawls between her legs, gently pushing her legs apart with his knees so he can rest his hips between her thighs. Mick grips Harrison’s hair as his mouth falls on her neck, his hands reaching behind her, clawing at her back to unclasp that annoying bra and toss it aside.
“Gorgeous,” he murmurs, glancing down at where their chests pressed together.
“I wanna feel you,” Mick sighs, turning her head to kiss at his jaw. “Take these off,” she commands, snapping the waistband of his boxers against his hip. Harrison nods and sits up on his knees as Mick turns over on her stomach, reaching over the side of the bed into her nightstand drawer. His eyes scan over her back, from where the tattoos on her right arm fade into pale skin, the mole just to the left of her spine on the small of her back, over the curve of her ass and down the backs of her thighs.
Making no move to turn over, Mick hands Harrison a condom over her shoulder, then settles her cheek against the pillow, murmuring something about her favorite position and promising it’ll feel good. Even though he’s already painfully hard and leaking precum everywhere, Harrison strokes his cock a few times before rolling on the condom. He definitely doesn’t need any help, not with her wiggling her hips in anticipation as he places his knees on either side of his thighs. It’s completely enticing.
She purposely avoids looking at him naked, preferring to be surprised when he pushes inside her. She’s not disappointed, he fills her wholly; stretching her in a most pleasurable way that has her letting out an embarrassingly loud whine and gripping the sheets. And then he surprises her further by letting his torso rest against her back, one of his hands slipping around her ribcage and the other reaching for her fingers. He’s warm and heavy and his lips are soft against her neck as he shallowly thrusts into her.
“Fucking hell you feel good,” he murmurs, breath hot against her neck as sweat pools between them. Mick feels him completely surrounding her as well as filling her, and she whimpers because she can’t remember the last time sex was this intimate, this close. Harrison isn’t fucking her, he’s making love to her. A single tear leaks out of her eye, luckily on the side of her face pressed against the pillow rather than the side upon which Harrison decides to rest his cheek as he rolls his hips.
“Harrison,” she whispers, craning her neck back to see if she can find his lips. He finds hers, gives her a soft kiss before nudging her cheek back down against the pillow. His fingers dig into her ribcage, gripping her as tight against his chest as he possibly can as he slows to a stop. “You okay?” Mick asks.
“I’m honestly trying not to come,” he murmurs and Mick feels his cheek grow hot against hers. She purposefully clenches around him and he groans. “Fuck please don’t,” he growls. “I wanna make you come again.”
Mick smiles and giggles into the pillow. “Oh I’m sorry, did I do something to make it worse?” she teases, tightening around him again. Harrison buries his teeth into Mick’s shoulder and she moans.
“I hate you,” he says into her skin.
“No you don’t,” Mick squeezes his hand. Harrison releases her shoulder and rests his cheek on hers, resuming the movement of his hips with a contented sigh.
“No you’re right I don’t,” he admits. “You feel far too fucking good for me to hate you.”
Mick likes that he talks to her. He had seemed a little uncomfortable earlier, but now she enjoys the blissed out sound of his voice and the way he gently moved inside her. She whines when his cock brushes against her g-spot.
“There, there,” she gasps, pushing back against him. “Faster.”
Harrison obliges, tucking his face into her neck as he snaps his hips faster. His chest vibrates against her back with every groan, so loud she can’t even hear whatever pathetic noises she’s making as pleasure builds between her legs.
“Fuck that’s it, I’m gonna— oh fuck,” Mick cries out as her pleasure peaks. Harrison grasps desperately at her ribs, his fingernails leaving angry red marks where he attempts to hold her still. She’s suddenly spasming so tight around him that he finds it hard to continue moving and the pleasure of such confinement nearly overwhelms him.
“Christ Mick,” he moans, squeezing her hand tightly. “I’m so close.”
“Then come,” she pants, “I want to feel you come inside me.”
Harrison groans and thrusts deep inside her, once, twice, three more times and stills his hips, spilling into the condom as Mick continues to involuntarily clench around his cock with the aftershocks of her own orgasm.
She lies contentedly beneath him as he twitches inside her and relishes his weight and warmth pressing her into the mattress for as long as he stays. He’s large and solid and surrounds her completely. With her eyes shut and him covering her ear with his, all she can feel, hear, and see is him. Everything else falls away. The entire world ceases to exist and all she knows is Harrison. Her stomach tightens and she pushes away the thought that he’s not hers. But in that moment, she suddenly wishes he were.

There has been a lot going on it my life lately (I’m moving, family drama, etc) and I haven’t had time to sit down and write imagines. But I’m back and I’m so happy to be writing this imagine for y’all. Enjoy! As always, constructive criticism is always appreciated. Love you all!
Y/N never dreamed of going away for university, especially to another country. She was planning on staying in her hometown but, she was offered a pretty decent scholarship to go study in Kingston in the United Kingdom. She was ecstatic about leaving to go to university especially because she was going with her best friend, Sarah.
Y/N and Sarah got to their new apartment about a couple of hours ago and already felt drained from all of the unpacking and from Kingston’s gloomy weather. Sarah suggested to Y/N that they should go to the local bar to chill out a little bit before school begins. Y/N happily agreed and they both got ready to go to the pub. Y/N wore a nice teal blouse with her best black jeans. She put on some light makeup because why not? Maybe she’ll meet the love of her life tonight. Anything seems possible.
When Y/N and Sarah arrived at the bar it was basically empty. They ordered drinks and they chatted for a bit.
“I can’t believe no one is here! It’s a Saturday night!” Sarah exclaimed.
“I know, right? That’s so odd.” Y/N replied as two men walked in the bar. They looked very familiar to Y/N but she doesn’t know anyone here yet so she brushed it off.
“Y/N, look,” Sarah said excitedly. “I think that’s Tom Holland and his friend Harrison.” Y/N began to look closer at the men and truth behold, it was Tom and Harrison, her icons that she basically worshipped.
“Sarah, don’t stare. It would be obvious that we are fans with them,” Y/N whispered. This could go somewhere, She thought to herself.
“But isn’t that the point? We could get a picture with them. That would be awesome!” Sarah said.
“Maybe we could pretend we don’t know them and maybe they’ll come up to us because they think we’re cute and would want to hang out,” Y/N whispered.
“That’s absolutely ridiculous!” Sarah exclaimed.
“What is ridiculous?” Tom said with a laugh as he approached the two women, dragging Harrison along with him.
“Umm, it’s ridiculous that no one is in this bar on a Saturday night,” Y/N said with a chuckle. Her heart was pounding out of his chest. She was actually having a conversation with Tom Holland.
“Yeah, this pub is pretty unpopular. That’s why we come here for drinks. It’s a lot less crowded. You two don’t look like you’re from here. I’m Tom, nice to meet you” Tom said with a shiny smile.
“We’re from the states. We are here for uni. By the way, my name is Y/N and this is Sarah.” Y/N said. “Nice. Do you mind if we sit here and get to know you two better?” Of fucking course. Y/N, play it cool, Y/N thought.
“Sure,” Y/N said. Tom and Harrison both scooted into the booth, Harrison next to Sarah and Tom next to Y/N.
The four of them managed to hit it off well. They didn’t mention anything about Tom’s acting career, just how Y/N wanted it to be. They talked about anything and everything. Tom even promised Y/N a tour of Kingston and all of the best places to go.
Sarah and Harrison hit it off extremely well and decided to take things to the next level and leave the pub together.
“Well, that’s a first for Haz,” Tom said with a laugh.
“Not for Sarah, but she hasn’t done that in a while. We are very different in that sense. I’m not that type of girl,” Y/N said.
“I can tell,” Tom said with a laugh. That laugh is going to be the death of me, Y/N thought.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Y/N asked, pretending to be offended.
“You just seem sweet and gentle. If that makes any sense.” Tom explained.
“Yeah, I get what you mean.” Y/N said. “Tell me more about yourself, Holland.”
“Well, I don’t know if you know this but, I’m Spider-Man,” Tom said.
“I was just going to say you look very familiar.” Y/N said with a laugh. Tom totally knew that she was a fan but decided to brush it off and get to know her.
They continued talking at the pub until it closed. They talked about their families, Tom’s next big project, and Y/N’s plans for university. They were both upset that the night had to come to an end.
“I had a really great time tonight,” Tom said with a smile as they stood outside. “Me too. It was really nice meeting you.”
“We should totally do this again sometime,” Tom suggested. “I would love that. Maybe my Kingston tour?” Y/N asked.
“For sure. Here’s my number,” Tom said as he put his number in her phone. “Thanks,” Y/N said as she shot him a text saying Hey, it’s Y/N.
I got your text. I’ll make sure to keep in touch about our date. Goodnight, Y/N.” Tom said as he pressed a kiss against her cheek.
“Goodnight, Tom,” Y/N said as she got into the taxi.
When Y/N got to her shared apartment she got ready for bed and as she was falling into a deep sleep, she heard a buzz from her phone. She picked it up and it said: Hey, I had an amazing time with you tonight. Can’t wait for our second date. Goodnight, darling. ~ Tom
Y/N’s heart fluttered with complete joy and she went to sleep with the biggest smile on her face. Tom will definitely be the death of her; in the best way possible.
LET ME KNOW IF Y’ALL WANT A PART 2!

(Frenemies to Lovers! Mob AU! ) Harrison Osterfield x Fem!OC
Word count: 2.45k words
Warning: Swearing, jerk behaviour, keeping hostage, guns, blood and violence, sexual tension.

What’s remaining is him trying to figure out how to deal with this collaboration of two rival corporations that don’t belong together and work on the side of the woman he never knew would ever be referred to as his partner in crime while they are dragged into a mess bigger than what they were trained to handle.

"Kill her."
Harry coughed. Twice.
"You know that's not possible," because if it was, wouldn't they have eliminated all their rivals already? The mafia was no easy business. It was equivalent to living on the edge without a rope tied to your waist to pull you back in case you fall off the cliff. Rather there was a rope tied to your ankle, waiting for the perfect opportunity to pull you down.
Harrison licked his dried lips as he rose from the desk, stepping closer to him. "Yeah and that's why Tom should be here, not you." He paused for a moment before mumbling: "Kid," amusement crossing his sharp features.
Harry's stomach rumbled with anger. Oh, and you are an obtuse twenty-four-year-old crazy old man who is also a big ass jerk.
He wanted to punch that grimace off his face.
The only reason he was a part of the mafia was that he believed in Clarke's philosophy, his ideology, his way of dealing with things but with Harrison on board, was it even the same anymore?
Harrison crossed the nineteen-year-old, barging into the door to exit the room. "Ask Tom to meet me in the car at seven. And until then I don't want a single soul near myself." He stated before putting a foot out of the door.
Harry expected to hear his departing footsteps but Harrison rather took a foot back, meeting the redhead's eyes with a steady gaze.
"And from next time," He warned, "knock before you enter." And with that he left, his footsteps echoing behind him.
All Harry could do was clench his fist.
***
It was a business agreement but it felt more like a marriage. An unwanted, forceful one. One where you hated your spouse to the moon and back and yet had to lose a part of your bed, life and love.
Why would you ever do this to me, Clarke? Why would you?! The anger and frustration bubbling inside his chest were too much to handle. He had left along with Tom and had captured one of Dino's closest men.
Dino was one of their new clients and had lately caused a lot of trouble from not paying the amount he owed to actually trying to fly off Europe.
If it was for any other day, Harrison wouldn't even bother handling Dino or any of his men by himself but today he needed a punching bag. A punching bag on whom he could pour all his pent up rage out. Beat his torment off another person's bones. That made sense to him.
He had dragged the man in the dark of the abandoned warehouse— the place Dino once used as a storage for his illegal weapons. The place he had tried to erase, pretend that it never existed.
Tom tied him to the chair for enquiry but Harrison was in no mood for that. He had already made up his mind. He didn't even let the man lift up his head to comprehend what was happening before Harrison's fist made a sharp contact with his jaw, knocking him to the floor along with the chair.
Tom watched from the side as Harrison grabbed the man's shirt, now dusty and violated with stains of fresh blood mixed with spit, establishing the chair back on the cemented floor with a thud. "Ask your boss to show up, will you?" He raised his voice several octaves as if to mock him for being so weak and helpless.
With blood sputtering between the guy's teeth, he tried to speak, "I--"
But Harrison instantly cuts in, circling around his chair, "Oh wait. What can you even do? You are useless for both me and Dino. That's why Dino left you here. He doesn't give a fuck if you live or die." He halted his steps and pulled the man's hair, sharply forcing his head back, jarring his neck, painfully stretching the muscles of his throat before spatting into his face, "You hear that? You. Are. Worthless."
And then he again swung his fist across his face, just this time he didn't stop. His knuckles throbbed with the sharp collision of bone against bone. His skin turned bright blue hidden by red. God, it felt good.
"We don't wanna kill him." Tom reminded, voice laced with disgust. This was brutal even for Harrison.
"I want to." He groaned, fisting his hands in the man's shirt.
"And here I wondered, Clarke's scion would be smarter."
His neck snapped at the voice. The source of the words— the silhouette emerged from the door, her heels hitting against the cemented floor as she strolled towards the blue light that filled the otherwise dark room.
Harrison recognised the voice well, he didn't need to wait for it to materialise into human form but he also didn't want to hear it, let alone see the person whom it belonged to. Somethings are inevitable, anyway.
"What are you doing here?" Tom was the first one to speak, his eyes focused on the woman who stood just a few feet apart from them, her shoulder-length dark hair sitting as a tight ponytail, high on her head, giving her the illusion of height.
She crossed her arms over her midsection, one foot slightly ahead of the other and let out a breath. "That's not a question, you ask your boss. Especially in that tone." Her words were sharp but not her voice or tone for that matter. For an outsider or an amateur, it would appear as if she was just there to ridicule the two boys. Yeah, in some way, it was true except for the 'just' part. Both Tom and Harrison were neither an outsider nor amateurs to read into that. They knew why she was here.
Harrison asked anyway, swallowing his boiling rage, "What the hell are you doing here?"
Her lips twisted into a half grin. "Well, you can ask that though."
The small laughter that followed her words made a muscle tick in his jaw. He was this close to snapping. Snapping to no avail. Snapping for vain. She had won. She had won his prize and there was nothing he could do to reclaim it. He couldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that she got him. No, she didn't. He reminded himself. No one could.
"I just came to check on you guys. Also, considering the fact that none of you noticed me standing right outside this room..." She looked over her shoulder, pointing a finger at the door, "Anyone could have shot you dead right there."
"And oh my god!" She gasped upon turning back to the scene, her voice infused with fake concern, "What have you done to this poor soul?"
The tension that hung between them had managed to make the muffled cries of the fourth person inaudible to the three pair of ears in the room. Maybe because he was the rat rather than the conventional elephant, people were so used to address.
"He is my client," Harrison growled, low in his throat— a thinly veiled attempt at trying to keep things civil.
"Not just yours." She corrected, flashing a small smile in his direction, more of a grimace, walking towards the man tied to the chair. The two guys watched her with narrowed, questioning eyes as she removed her coat, the draping neckline of her red top doing the bare minimum to cover anything.
She slouched across his chair, wiping the blood from the corner of his lip, softly smearing it across his cheek.
"Is this bad boy bullying you?" She momentarily shot a glance at Harrison. The man nodded, too afraid and too injured to speak.
Clicking her tongue in disdain, she gripped his chin tightly, her nails digging into his skin as she pushed the chair to the back, supported only by one of her heels. He jerked in his bonded state.
She leaned near his face, her breath tickling in his ear. "Why not better start behaving then?" She whispered, her lips brushing against the side of his face. "I don't like pretty faces as yours harmed."
Her finger traced over his lower lip, her nail scratching his wound in ways more sensual than painful. "Will you comply?" Her eyes flickered down to his lips.
He nodded instantly and desperately. He was charged up; her scent was filling his senses. When her eyes were back to his face, his slid to take a peek at her cleavage, a mixture of fear and excitement dotting his sweltering forehead with beads of sweat.
"Good boy," she muttered and dragged her foot away from the chair, installing him back to where they had started.
"P-Please..." The guy managed to utter when she moved away, urgency evident in his voice. A triumphant grin got pasted over her face in response, making her laugh at his needy request.
Harrison could bet that the guy had a mild erection even in his blood ridden pathetic state. The scene almost made him puke. Where he was using force and blood, she was using her body, sex as a weapon. Definitely not his way of working. Yet, he failed to suppress the dull tightening sensation in his abdomen—and the part below it.
She walked up to him, pulling her hair down, brushing them with her fingers. Her laughter had long subsided but its residue was still echoing in his head. He hated that. He hated her.
"Doesn't it spark old memories, Osterfield?"
His face flickered with annoyance. It was in his best interest to ignore her words.
"Let's talk over at dinner." She offered, carrying her coat on her elbow. Yeah, they very much needed to talk even when he didn't prefer it. So, he walked out of the room, waiting for her to follow.
"You should seriously take him back to wherever you picked him from." She instructed Tom as if Harrison wasn't enough for him to deal with.
***
"We had a reservation," she smiled at the hostess, "by the name of Sandhya Omar." Harrison, on the other hand, was somehow managing not to kill. Her, specifically.
The hostess smiled back, taking a glance at the register in her hand, "Welcome, Ms. Omar. Let me escort you to your table." She smiled at Harrison too. He didn't appreciate the gesture.
She led them to a table perfectly designed for two, for a date perhaps, placed on a quiet, dimly lit balcony. Harrison removed his blazer, hanging it over the chair before folding the sleeves of his beige-coloured shirt over his arms and occupying the seat. The hostess dragged Sandhya's chair, letting her sit.
She mumbled a quiet thank you.
"A waiter will be here shortly." She informed and left. She didn't lie; not a minute had passed and the waiter was already there, passing them two menus and pouring clear champagne into their flutes. Before he could proceed to light the candles decorated over the table, Harrison interrupted:
"We don't need that."
"Of course we need that, darling." She cuts in, smiling so pleasantly at him, just like a cat would smile at a canary.
It was the waiter who smiled back, at both of them, actually. "I will come back for the orders when you both are ready."
"Thank you. We will take some time, though."
"No worries, Ms. Saan—dha—ya."
"Just call me Sandy, it's fine." She shrugged away his absurd pronunciation of her name. The waiter just passed her an apologetic smile, walking away, leaving them in solitude, surrounded by nothing but luxury and privacy.
"Talk?" Harrison began.
"What?" She pretended to be clueless.
It was a game for her.
Not for him.
"You wanted to talk."
"You don't?"
He wasn't having it. So, she simply rolled her eyes, choosing to initiate. "Okay... I will start," she let out a breath, "My mob wants me dead because they want what I have inherited."
Funny, they and Harrison were on the same page.
"And you walked here alone?" He quirked a brow.
She slumped in her chair, one foot crossed over her knee, "You see, I am not alone." Her hands gestured at him.
He snorted. Ridiculous.
"You seriously think that I want you any less dead than them?"
"Yeah."
"That's foolish." He leaned across the table, elbows pressing against the wood, "I'd kill you the second I'd get the chance." He stressed certain syllables, gritting his teeth in fury. His tone dripped scorn.
"No, you won't. You need me." She stated as a matter-of-fact, straightening her back.
"You wish." He replied quickly, scoffing at her misplaced confidence.
Her phone on the table vibrated, providing them with the much needed break from cocking their verbal guns at each other. The sneer on her face vanished in a heartbeat, quickly replaced by fear as soon as her eyes scanned the glowing screen. She tapped the dial on her watch before leaning across the table.
"Listen carefully..."
He didn't.
Her hands grabbed his collar, pulling his face closer to hers, tautly stretching the fabric of his shirt, "Your life is at threat too!"
Her eyes glanced at her watch again.
"Four minutes and they'll be here." The slight flicker of the candle burning across the table animated a dance of shadows on their faces, projecting the fearful vibrations in her stomach onto the surface. "For both of us," she clarified, their face centimeters apart.
He laughed pulling himself back, not considering her words any worthy of his contemplation, smoothening the creases she had created on his otherwise crisp shirt. But she was quick to pull him again, not allowing his eyes to focus on anything else but her.
"This is no drill, Harrison." She warned, her dark eyes cold and hard and locked on his blue ones.
"In four--three minutes, there will be a smoke bomb thrown below our table, and that's our only chance to escape. Take the left side, use the pipes to climb down as quickly as possible. A car will be waiting for you at the side of the street."
He squinted his eyes in disbelief, an expression of boredom covering his face. "Why would I trust you?"
She sighed, pulling a compact case, keeping it between them, the mirror facing his side. His pupils dilated noting the reflection on it. It was the reflection of a person, holding a sniper rifle, standing on the rooftop of the building across them.
A chill crept through his heart. Their eyes met again.
In a tone that lacked any hesitation and provided no explanation, she gave away the second part of the answer, "Because Clarke didn't die... He was murdered."
Yeah, people like Clarke don't just die.

“Now he’s gone. I don’t know why and to this day sometimes I cry. He didn’t even say goodbye. He didn’t take the time to lie.” -Nancy Sinatra
Tumblr media
The following morning, Lindsey wakes up with arms wrapped around her. She looks down and smiles to see the same bandaged hands from last night meeting together at her hip. She lightly chuckles- Harrison was always a cuddler. Lindsey slowly pries his hands off her and makes her way down the stairs to the kitchen. Treks over to the fridge, passing a distracted Harry Holland, sitting at the kitchen table, typing away on his laptop.
“Did you eat?” She asks, breaking the brunette from his trance.
“Nah,” He mumbles, still deep in concentration.
“Well I’m gonna make some eggs ‘n toast. Should I add you to the order?” She asks in a soft tone.
Harry scoffs.
“You really are a fuckin waitress aren’t you?” He looks up from his laptop. “Sounds great, Linds. Thank you,” He adds sincerely.
Lindsey lets out a breathy chuckle.
“Gimme a break, Holland. You guys stole me from my job,” Earning another laugh from Harry.
There's a few minutes of comfortable silence before Lindsey walks over to him with another cup of tea and the plate of food.
“Am I allowed to know what you’re so diligently searching?” She asks.
Harry lets out a sigh before taking a sip of tea and shoveling eggs into his mouth.
“How long have you been up anyway?” She questions, softly.
“Too long” He responds, mouth full of food.
Harry swallows and takes another sip of tea.
“And to answer your first question, it's nothing too drastic. But, if it’s one thing Gideon Fuller made me promise him, it’s not to involve you in anything until you’re ready for it.”
Lindsey lets out a heavy sigh and nods.
“If it's one thing my dad was, it’s stubborn.”
Harry scowls at the image on his computer. Chad Powell. He recognized the picture as the man who dropped you off last night. No criminal record, no blatant mafia affiliation, squeaky clean but still acting suspicious based on what he heard about the date the night prior.
“Lindsey?” Harry asks, closing his laptop slightly, shielding Lindsey from the screen.
The woman raises her eyebrows with a mouth full of eggs and toast, prompting Harry to go on.
“Do you think you’re going to keep seeing Chad?” He asks her, voice dropping a few octaves and decibels.
“Your tone concerns me, Mr. Holland,” She responds, “Please continue”
Harry sighs.
“I mean, what ever happened with Harrison? Last time I checked, you were, like, madly in love with him. And, granted the last time I checked was high school but it still seems like it.”
“I wouldn’t call it madly in love with him. And what? You don’t like him?” She asks, eyebrow quirked.
She wasn’t about to admit to someone she saw as her younger brother and also one of Harrison’s best friends, that seeing her old flame of sorts, especially now, ignited a fire in her that she hadn’t felt with anyone else. Now, thinking about it, that feeling seemed to fill the gap in her life she didn’t know she wanted filled. But, she wasn’t about to admit that.
Harry opens up.
“To be honest Lindsey, I don't. I don’t know what it is but something doesn’t seem right. He seemed kind of sketchy when I met him,”
Lindsey scoffs.
“Did you maybe think that he seemed sketchy when you met him because he was, I don’t know, nervous?”
Harry clenches his jaw.
“You said he checked his phone every 30 minutes or so to send updates right? Lindsey, we do that when we’re doing meetings and things with other bosses. I can’t imagine why he would do that other than that reason”
“Harry, I don’t know if it’s because he’s making me happy for the first time in a while, or because it’s not Haz. But, I like this guy a lot and it’s really shitty of you to not only dictate who I go out with but try to justify it by him being shady, WHICH HE IS NOT BY THE WAY”
Lindsey sighs and pinches her nose.
“I-I just don’t know. Everything is just too much right now”
Harry meets her gaze.
“Do you still love him?” He murmurs, barely above earshot.
“What’s too much?” Asks the gravelly, sleep ridden voice of Harrison Osterfield.
Lindsey and Harry whip their heads around. There they see the sweatshirt clad, wispy haired man, standing at the open refrigerator.
“Juice?” He turns around and asks the two at the table.
“I’m good- I thought you were still sleeping?” Lindsey deflects.
Harrison sighs, sets down his glass of orange juice to the right of Lindsey and wraps his arms around her sitting figure.
“The bed got cold” He mutters into her neck.
Harry raises his eyebrows at the girl and she rolls her eyes at him.
“So complete 180” Lindsey starts as Harrison sits down.
Tom struts into the room already dressed and makes himself a cup of tea.
“180 from what, darling?”” He asks.
“Okay great you’re all here cause I’ve been sitting on something ever since,” She pauses to gesticulate in the air.
“Since I found out about your, uh-”
“-Business?” Tom asks, playfully.
Lindsey stifles her laughter.
“So um, you guys are saying I’m in danger and I have no clue what the hell my dad made you promise to him for you guys to swoop back into my life and play knights in shining armor. Which I’m grateful for, don't get me wrong, thank you so much for all of this. To put it bluntly, do you guys have any idea how long I’ll be staying here?”
All the boys smiles’ drop. Harrison reaches for her hand.
“I dunno Linds,” Tom sighs.
Harry chimes in.
“We’ve started to narrow things down, but it’s just been the usual suspects in the pool” He mutters, running his fingers through his curly hair.
“Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing” Harrison chimes in.
“How?” Lindsey scoffs.
Harrison bites the inside of his cheek, contemplating if he should go on or not.
“Please someone tell me how this isn’t terrible?” She asks barely above a whisper, rubbing her thumb across his hand.
Harrison squeezes her hand in response.
“I-It’s just, we haven’t heard anything about you in our, well, work community. So it’s not a bad thing that no one’s actively targeting you. But it’s also a matter of ‘Are people keeping their plans about you under wraps? Do they really not know about you? Was whoever was following you that night just some John who liked what they saw and we’re all just being paranoid?’ Y’know?”
Lindsey nods, thoughtfully.
“So it’s going to be a while isn’t it?” Lindsey asks, feeling everything in her chest sink to her feet.
“Probably” Tom responds somberly.
He tries to find the glimmer of hope he always finds in her eyes, but he just can’t.
“W-What about my job? Do I at least get to call them and say ‘Hey something’s come up and I can’t be coming in for a while’? Do I get to say goodbye to my kids? Do I get to wish them luck on the show they’re working so diligently on? Or am I just gonna have someone from your “mob” following me constantly like a protective detail?” Lindsey questions on the brink of tears.
“We’ll take care of it, darling. Don’t worry everything will be taken care of” Harrison soothes, squeezing her hand again.
“Well can I at least go get the rest of my stuff? I only have stuff for the week that you guys got” Lindsey asks.
Maybe if she could just go home she could feel more at peace with the situation.
“That Chris guy knew exactly where you lived. It's a public record. The last thing any of us needs is some guy surprising you when you’re alone in your room” Tom exhales, rubbing his temples.
Lindsey’s heart drops as she feels tears well in her eyes.
“Linds I’ll take you shopping or something. It’ll be great. We could talk about literally anything. Plus, you always talked about the joys of retail therapy” Harry adds, trying to take her mind off of things.
Tumblr media
While Harry and Lindsey leave to go shopping, Harrison is tasked with making sure everyone’s paying up on time, everything is in order and that his best mob boss friend isn’t carrying too much work on his shoulders. He knocks on the door with the gold plate reading “Tom Holland” and enters.
“How’s it going man?” Harrison asks the brown eyed mobster.
Tom nods and responds.
“Pretty good, I guess. Nothing is outright troublesome other than the stuff we already know about. Everything in your field normal?”
Harrison nods.
“Good, good,” Tom mutters.
“Maybe all the douchebags and lowlifes decided to take the day off” Harrison suggests, prompting the two men to laugh.
“So,” Tom starts, breaking the silence.
“So?” Harrison asks in response.
“You’re getting pretty close with Lindsey, there”
Harrison raises his eyebrows “And?”
Tom runs a hand through his hair.
“Is this going to be a repeat of high school?”
Harrison eyebrows snap together.
“What do you mean?” “Mate, you wouldn’t shut up about her. Both of you wouldn’t shut up about each other, in fact. And none of you would make real moves on each other” Tom chuckles.
“Anyway,” Harrison says just a little too quickly. “Any headway on who was trying to get into your parents’ stuff?”
Tom lets out a heavy sigh and shakes his head
“Ten bucks says it’s one of Harding’s guys. But, there’s nothing to actually back that up so until then...,” he trails off and shrugs.
Harrison nods as Tom continues.
“I mean, my main concern is Lindsey. Like don’t get me wrong, my parents are fine, my dad’s still got some tricks up his sleeve and they’re the ones with the dog. But Linds on the other hand-”
“She only has us and no knowledge of protocol whatsoever” Harrison interjects.
“I mean don’t get me wrong she has all the self defense stuff she learned from Gideon. But, my main concern is, will it be enough to keep her all safe ‘n feisty if and when she gets affiliated with us?” Tom asks.
Harrison’s eyebrows knit together.
“Do you think she’ll be a long term partner?” Harrison asks, directing his gaze upwards at Tom.
He sighs and shrugs his shoulders
“I honestly don’t know. She seemed pretty horrified when she found out about us. But now, she seems to be warming up to it. She just seemed more concerned about our safety than anything else. I guess it all depends on when you get a ring on that girl’s finger” Tom chuckles at his own joke.
Harrison shoots Tom a knowing glance and flips him off.
“So, nothing else on your end you need help with?”
Tumblr media
Harry and Lindsey sit in the food court of the crowded mall, indulging in their lunches.
“So what kinda shit do you need anyway?” Harry yells to Lindsey, trying to speak over the loads of people surrounding them.
“It depends,” Lindsey responds following a heavy sigh.
Harry has a puzzled look written all over his face. Anyone can read that man like a book. “On what?” He questions.
“Well,” Lindsey trails off, trying to contain her laughter.
“How comfortable are you going into Victoria’s Secret?”
Harry chokes on his food.
“What could you possibly need from Victoria’s Secret?”
Lindsey finally cracks up in hysterical laughter.
“Lingerie for Harrison, duh” Lindsey jokes between laughs.
Harry covers his ears.
“TMI TMI TMI lalalalala I can’t hear you” Harry partially yells.
Lindsey laughs even harder than before.
“Harry, you know I’m kidding. I just need the basic bras, panties, that kinda thing. Which, in all honesty if you’re not cool with going in there or if we get kicked out, I’m one million percent okay with going somewhere else” She explains.
Harry lets out a small chuckle. He can’t believe he forgot how conscious and caring for other people Lindsey is.
“I’m fine going in there but I can’t promise we’ll be in there for very long. But, then again, I have no idea- You alright, Linds?”
That last sentence was a blur. All Lindsey could feel was tingles in the back of her neck while only hearing the nagging of her subconscious.
“Turn around. Someone’s watching you”
“Turn over your right shoulder. There’s someone watching you. You’re in danger. Danger. Danger”
“Lindsey?” Harry asks.
Lindsey whips her head back around to face her friend.
“What?” She questioned, clearly zoned out of the conversation.
Harry sighs.
“You know he can’t hurt you anymore”
Lindsey nods, still distant.
“Linds, repeat after me. Chris Maxwell is dead. He can’t get to you anymore” Harry insists.
He hates seeing his friend like this. “Then why do I still feel eyes on me?” She mutters taking a look around the food court once more.
Harry scans the room, trying to see if anyone is being blatant about watching her.
“I don’t see anyone, Lindsey. C’mon let's go grab some more things you need, yeah? I know Tom said no apartment but maybe I can run and grab some things for ya if you want” He encourages.
Lindsey’s eyes light up.
“Really? Cause there was this super cute silver bodycon dress that I totally left there and if this whole thing clears up or maybe if I end up going out with Chad again I could wear that”
Harry chuckles.
“You’re really into this Chad guy huh?”
Lindsey sighs and clears her burgundy hair out of her face.
“I dunno, Har. Like I love Haz ‘n all but there’s no real moves made y’know. It’s all sweet words and cuddles with him. But it’s hard to gauge if he actually feels, or I guess felt, things for me or if that’s just how he expresses friendship. Chad on the other hand, is actually making moves and expressing things, y’know?.”
Harry nods, understanding. She pauses and checks her phone.
“Especially now,” She adds, “Because he just asked me to dinner tonight”
Harry’s eyes widen.
“Dang”
He pulls out his phone and writes out a text to Harrison.
Harry Holland() Mate, I have no idea wtf is going on between you and Linds. But if you still feel things for her you gotta make real moves and fast cause she just thinks its friendly shit
“Alright. Where next m’lady?”
Harry asks, offering his hand to a giggling Lindsey.
Harry was a good distraction for her. That was obvious. But somehow somewhere, Lindsey was still hearing her subconscious whisper
“Look over your left shoulder. Someone’s got their eyes on you. Just turn, turn, turn” And once again, she obliges to her thoughts.
Tumblr media
Harrison looks at his phone and sighs. Harry has just confirmed what has been nagging in the back of his mind ever since he saw her for the first time in the diner. He turns his head around when he heard the front door open and shut.
“Hello?” He hears the angelic voice of Lindsey grace the household.
“What did you get, love?” Harrison asks, looking at the bags in her hand.
“I think I have successfully traumatized the big, scary mobster, Harry Holland” She giggles as his cheeks turn a bright crimson.
Harrison’s eyebrows snap together in confusion.
“Whadya mean?”
Lindsey says nothing and holds up the square Victoria’s Secret bag. Harrison mouth forms into a silent “Oh”
She giggles and runs upstairs with her things.
“How is she?” Harrison asks with a quirked eyebrow.
“As expected, I guess” Harry murmurs.
“What do you mean?” Harrison asks, voice full of concern.
“She still keeps looking over her shoulder. She’s convinced that someone’s following her” Harry sighs.
“Well, this isn't necessarily cause she ‘has me in her pocket’,” Harrison starts, making air quotes.
“But, is it really that irrational of a thing to think of? I mean, need I remind you that someone tried to find information on Gideon Fuller’s whole family? Not just Gideon but Denise and Lindsey as well”
Harry’s eyebrows raise.
“You think it’s the same person?”
“It could very much be” Harrison responds, eyes wide like saucers in realization that he was onto something.
“You go take care of her, I’ll fill Tom in,” Harry says and speeds off to his brother’s office.

The unidentified brunette man sits in his hotel room, fresh out of the shower. Hair wet, towel on his waist, he decides to get himself into some clothes. Now clad in a black v neck, fitting his muscles perfectly and some plaid pajama pants, the man haphazardly dries his hair and looks over the files sitting on the polished table. He’s pulled out of his concentrated state by the familiar sound of his ringtone.
“Yeah,” he answers, voice raspy as he hadn't had much to say.
“Yeah I have eyes on her,” He confirms, smirking at the master plan.
“No, boss, they have no idea,” The man reassures with whoever is on the other line.
“The only one posing a somewhat threat to the plan is the right hand, Osterfeld” He briefs the person as well as going through it for himself.
“Problem? No. Definitely not. I can easily neutralize him,” He boasts
“Yeah,” He confirms.
“The second he gets in my way he’s getting taken out. This information on Fuller is too good to pass up”
Tumblr media
As Lindsey goes on her date, Harrison is in Tom’s office, plotting. Tom glances over at his right hand man to see him gazing off into the distance. Harrison can’t stop thinking of Lindsey, his Lindsey, looking absolutely stunning on the dress Harry brought for her. Her burgundy hair was straight, her makeup was done, she looked flawless as per usual. But, she’s always flawless. Chad probably doesn’t see that. Chad doesn’t deserve a beauty like her. Who does he even think he is?
“Harrison,” Tom says, snapping him out of his trance.
Harrison trains his bright blue eyes on his best friend and right away Tom knows something’s up. “Alright, man. Spill. Where’s your head at?”
Harrison sighs and runs a hand through his hair.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy she’s happy. But what did this Chad guy even do to deserve to go out with her? She’s so gorgeous and funny and perfect. And Harry texted me earlier and basically said I needed to make my move because she was teetering between me and him. Tom, what if I’m too late?” He pauses as he starts to feel himself choke up.
“W-what if this is the man she’s gonna marry and I’m left high and dry? I know there have been girls in the past and like you always say there’s women throwing themselves at us being ‘dangerous sexy mobsters’ or whatever. But I don’t want anyone else. I want her”
In all the years of friendship and partnership between Harrison and Tom, Tom has never seen Harrison get choked up like this. Tom lets out a sigh, breaking the silence.
“I mean,” He begins, pausing to wet his lips and find the correct words to console his friend with.
“It’s clear she loves you. Whether it's seen as platonic love or more than that, that’s up to you two. However, as much as it hurts, it’s not up to you to decide who she dates and this Chad guy seems to make her pretty happy. But, then again, so do you. It’s kind of a rough process trying to decipher this, man. Try not to think about it too much,”
Harrison nods and sniffles.
“What do I do?” He inquires his best friend.
“If it were me, I would come clean to her. Tell her everything you just told me. Because, if it’s one thing I know about Lindsey Fuller’s feelings about you, it’s confusion. She doesn’t know if all the PDA you guys do is platonic or something else. But, it’s not me, it’s you. So, it’s not my place to tell you how to go about this,”
The blue eyed man nods to Tom.
“But,” Tom continues, “Right now, we can’t change that she’s on her date. So, good that we got all her feeling out but let's figure out who’s meddling in our crime family”
Tumblr media
Harrison makes his way up to his bedroom. He had heard Lindsey enter the house, but, he was so caught up in the work he and Tom had started. This is it. Harrison is going to confess what has been eating at him since he first saw her. As he walks up the stairs to his room, he gives himself a small pep talk.
“You got this, Osterfield,” He thinks to himself.
“Tom said she’s into you, Harry insists she’s into you. Why would she not be into you?”
He opens the door to his bedroom, the gateway of so many sweet and caring memories between the two of them, only to see Lindsey... packing her things?
“Hey” He greets her, voice unintentionally giving hints of confusion and startling her from her mind.
“Oh! Hey” Lindsey gasps.
“You scared me!” She giggles brushing stray hairs out of her face.
“How was the date?” Harrison asks gently, not wanting to startle her any more.
Lindsey smiles that sweet smile making Harrson’s knees weak every single time.
“It was really good actually,” She beams before continuing “How’s everything here?” Lindsey asks him.
“Ugh it’s full of work. But, it’s good work, y’know? We do the shit law enforcement won’t- What are you doing?” Harrison asks as she continues to pack her things.
“Oh sorry, I’m still listening, don't worry! I’m just packing up” She answers pausing to bashfully scratch the back of her neck.
“Why, darling?” Harrison queries, walking over to grab both her hands
“I’m-uh, I think I’m gonna stay in the guest room from now on, Haz” Lindsey mumbles, finding a new fascination with the floor.
“Any reason why you’re moving out of here?” Harrison questions, trying and failing to find her gaze.
“Yeah I just- I just don’t want to be weighing you down by staying in your room and um...” She trails off.
Harrison brings his index finger to her chin and lifts her head up to meet his gaze.
“And what, love?” He asks, ocean eyes full of concern.
“Haz,” She whispers, while moving away from him and shaking her head.
“We can’t do this anymore, Harrison” She murmurs, shakily.
Harrison feels a hard pang in his chest like his heart is causing him physical pain. His head feels like it’s spinning and all he wants to do is wake up with his girl next to him “W-Why?” He asks, barely above a whisper.
“Harrison, Chad and I are a thing now. And, all the PDA stuff we do, I-I just I don’t wanna piss him off or offend him y’know?” She explains.
All Harrison can do is nod as Lindsey continues.
“You know I love you, Hazza and everything we do for each other. But, that stuff can be easily misinterpreted”
Harrison nods again.
“I hope he makes you happy” He chokes out, voice cracking just a little.
And with that, the girl of his dreams leaves his bedroom, confirming his worst nightmare has become a reality.

Alive part I - h.o. x oc
Part II Part III
this love is good this love is bad this love is alive back from the dead
Summary: she had to find her boyfriend. She thought about it everyday since the dead began to walk. They say what’s ours always find its way back to us, even if not in the way we wanted it to.
Harrison Osterfield x OFC
Zombie apocalypse AU
Part I
Looking through the dirty window of the old principal office she now used as her own, Olivia stared down at her people working and the rays of sunshine hitting their skin. She was playing with an old stapler, the clicking noise distracting her from her thoughts. That was the only way to stop the mantra that was pounding inside her head every single day since the dead began to walk.
She needed to find him.
She could only hope he was at least still alive, even if he was different from the Harrison she knew years ago. They were all different people in the end.
“Liv” Henry woke her from her thoughts, approaching her. “We need to find more antibiotics and Lena asked some stuff for the kitchen too”
“We need to hold a meeting, then” she said, grabbing the list he handed her. She gave it a quick glance; it wasn’t a lot, but right now anything could be scarce. “There’s not much left around, we need to explore new places”
“I’ll call the council, then”
They were lucky, she thought. Most of her friends were with her when the world went to shit. It was their last year of high school and everything was supposed to be exciting, but then… It wasn’t anymore. She was the leader of a community they formed in their old school. Things were good, as far as they could be in this situation, anyway.
Waiting for the council by the end of the long table they had at the gym, Liv replayed it through her head: Tom saw him. He thinks. He’s not sure. But he wasn’t sure of anything these days.
She watched as part of her council walked to her, their footsteps echoing through the gym, biting the inside of her cheek, with a restlessness that was usual now. Olivia was able to ignore her heart beating against her chest and her breath catching at her throat, because right now being anxious about every move was her default.
They all sat down on their usual chairs and she looked around all of them, noticing some places were vacant.
“Liv, Bill has been studying our maps for days now. We may need to go farther than we ever had, but it would sure lead us to a huge department store. It’s promising” Carol interrupted her thoughts, sharing the council idea and opening up a huge map on the table.
“Do we have enough food for this? If so, you can choose three more people and leave tomorrow” she assured Carol, looking at the maps she brought with her. They were all part of Bill’s job, her ever so smart friend. They knew everything they had around them, all possibilities and how dangerous it could be thanks to him.
“I’m coming with”
“No, not you, Jake” she grabbed his shoulder when he was about to protest, a toothless smile on her face. “We need you here”
“C’mon, Liv. Tom’s back! You know I don’t like being trapped here…”
“Tom is not himself right now. Believe me, we need you” she held his gaze, brown eyes on green eyes. She understood him very well. Olivia and Jake were neighbors and friends since they were 10. That he needed his freedom was not news for her. But this world wasn’t safe and he was strong and smart and he cared deeply about their people. He cared deeply about her. She – they - needed him more than anything else right now. “Where’s Bill? And Phoebe?”
“Well…” Henry started laughing, unable to explain their friends’ absence.
“Oh for fucks sake” she laughed as well, but feeling a very familiar sting at the same time. It was always the same thing and though she wanted her friends to be happy and she was happy for them… It was impossible not to remember what could have been, what should have been.
“Bill can’t keep it in his pants, man” Jake laughed at the situation. Olivia kept laughing along, but it was not natural. She loved them. But everytime she looked at them she would remember Harrison.
“Anyway… You can leave tomorrow morning. Just get three more people to come with you, Carol. And be careful” she asked, knowing the girl could be a little reckless. The two of them met back in high school, but weren’t friends. This world had his own way to bring people closer, though.
“Sure. You know me” Carol smiled and winked at Olivia, getting her stuff and leaving.
“Henry, please get them everything they may need and get the kitchen to prepare Tom some meal”
“Sure” he nodded and left.
She turned back to Jake, who was still watching her, playing with the hem of his shirt.
“Do you need anything?”
“I’m going insane here! Since Tom left you won’t let me leave the school. I need… At least some fresh air” he asked, messing his sand-like hair.
“Fine. You can do road patrol every morning for an hour. And then you head straight back here. Do you hear me, Jake? I can’t deal with another one of my best friends going missing for months! I can barely deal with Harrison…”
“We’re gonna find him. I promise you” Jake covered the distance between them and held her tight in his arms. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, Liv” he whispered, kissing her forehead.
X
Carol left the next morning. And after that, the days dragged along and time seemed to have stopped. Or maybe it was just that Olivia couldn’t stop looking down the road, waiting for them to come back.
“You need to rest” Jake warned her one night, being the only one to put up with her pacing around in the yard, when everyone else was asleep. “You need to trust them, too. Like we trust you”
“I trust all of you” she said, stopping and glancing at him. “Guess I just have a bad feeling”
“You always have a bad feeling” he laughed, rolling his green eyes at her.
“Yeah… I don’t trust this world”
“Loosen up, Liv” he smiled, shaking her by the elbow. “Always said you needed to have some fun. Remember?”
“That was before” she laughed.
“Hey, they’re coming back. And I’m here for you”
They ended up spending the night sitting at the porch, Olivia still looking for any signs her friends would be back soon.
“They have Carol” Travis ran up to Liv the next morning, being followed closely by Rachel and Brad, the people their friend took with her. She knew she had a bad feeling for a reason. Henry stopped them and took them all to Liv’s office, away from everyone’s ears.
“We don’t need panic” he explained, closing the door behind him.
“You’re right” Liv nodded, feeling more terrified than she would ever admit. “What happened?”
“We were at the store when they came in. I guess there were ten of them”
“Who, Travis?” she asked, her heart racing against her chest.
“I don’t know… Some other group. Said it was their territory, that we were invading” he explained. “They wanted all the stuff we took back, Carol wouldn’t let them take it”
“There was a fight, but we were only four people... So they took Carol with them. And sent us with a message” Brad shrugged, avoiding Olivia’s eyes. She stared down at him, looking for any sign of his usual confident self, but he kept his head low and his gaze away from her.
“What do they want?”
“Weapons. Medicine. Some strong people. And… For some reason, they asked us if we had Tom. They want to trade him for Carol” Rachel said, confused.
“What?” Henry intervened, looking between the three and Olivia.
“We’re not giving them any of that” Liv immediately started to pace around the room. “And we need Carol back”
“They said to meet them back at the store in two days, with everything they asked”
“Or?”
“I don’t know” Rachel shrugged.
“They don’t seem the type of people who are willing to talk” Brad said.
“It’s alright” Liv sighed. “They just need to listen”
X
“Hey, Tom. We’re going for a walk” Olivia announced, not giving him time to answer. He had a candle lighting the room a bit and was facing the window to what used to be the janitor’s room. For some reason he decided this was his room, since the beginning of it all. There were much better options and Olivia tried to reason with him, but Tom just wanted a small space he could rest and that their people were well cared for. So he settled there.
For some unknown reason, he would do what she said. So she just closed the door after calling him and waited.
“Where are we going?” he asked, coming out of his room for the first time since he came back.
“Just around”
In silence, they walked around the school.
They kept going, slowly, arm in arm. Through their old class rooms, the lab where they used to hide from everyone else just to talk and, finally, the gym. They had so many memories there, she hoped it would sparkle something in him.
“Do you remember the first time we came here?” she asked, stopping by the long council table. It was actually just one of the tables used at prom they found hidden somewhere. “Before?”
“That’s when we met Harrison” his features went dark again and he let go of her arm.
“I don’t want you to feel sad about it. They’re great memories. And I’ll never give up on finding him” she reassured him, squeezing his hand. “Just like I’ll never give up on you”
“I know” he squeezed her hand back, still avoiding her eyes.
“Some other group has Carol” she told him, sighing, after a moment of comfortable silence between them. “They want you in exchange for her”
“Me?”
“You” she sat down on her chair by the head of the table and nodded to his old council seat. “What are we gonna do about this?”
“I don’t know”
“But you do. Look, I’m here for you. It doesn’t matter what happened the last few months. It doesn’t matter if you lived with another group, if you thought on leaving us forever. What matters is you’re here” they held each other’s gaze for a while. “I love you. You’re my best friend, Tom. You need to trust me, like before”
“Things are not like before”
“No, they’re not. And that’s why you need to start talking. I’ve been letting you heal for a month now. And I would let you take forever if needed. But lives are on the table here, Tom. So start talking”
“I…” he took a deep breath and broke their eye contact, looking at his hands instead.
“We have a meeting with them in two days, whoever they are. They have Carol, they want our weapons, some of our people, our supplies. And they want you. I can’t have that. Talk”
“I’m the reason Finn is dead” he said, finally.
“Not what Phoebe says”
“She doesn’t know the full story. All she knows is I left and Finn died”
“Yeah”
“I left him behind”
“Ok”
“Ok? Liv… It got him killed”
“You do know you’re not the first person to get caught in a situation where you had to make choices that got people killed, right? Because I’ve been doing it everyday for the past two years. And you’ve been the one helping me keep sane”
“Your choices kept us all alive”
“Your choice kept you and Pheebs alive”
“My choice got Finn killed. And not by the dead”
“What do you mean?” she sat straight, furrowing her brows.
“I thought I saw him. So I left Finn behind”
“You mean Harrison?”
“It wasn’t him, was it? Because… If it was him he wouldn’t have turned around. If it was him… His people wouldn’t have killed Finn over a gun and some pills”
“So why did you never come back? Where were you?” she questioned, studying his features. His chocolate eyes, his curly hair, his freckles. Everything that felt like home to her.
“I couldn’t come back after that. I just… Hid. I ditched Pheebs the moment I could and then I left and hid. I ran away, like a coward”
“We needed you, Tom. I needed you. I still do”
“I know and I’m sorry, but…”
“You’re not a coward, Tom. You didn’t have to leave because of what happened” she affirmed, standing up. “You didn’t kill him. It’s not your fault!”
“But it is! I should never have left him behind”
“I understand why you feel the way you do right now. But we need you. Because as far as I know, that happened around the same area Carol was when they took her. It could be the same group. They want our stuff. They want you”
“But…”
“I know, it wasn’t Harrison. That doesn’t matter right now. We need to focus on getting Carol back first. We know she is there and we don’t know shit about Harrison’s location”
“What do you want me to do, Liv?”
“Come with me to the meeting. Let’s do what we always did best: let’s talk our way out of this”
“Like you talked your way out of being grounded when you got drunk at Travis’ party?” he laughed and she caught a glimpse of his old self, smiling warmly at her best friend.
“Yeah, I did that on my own. You didn’t encourage me to drink like that and you sure never helped me planning my scape from my punishment”
“We’re better together” he shrugged, smiling.
X
“Listen, here’s the plan” Liv was addressing the council and a few other people that would be coming with her to the meeting. “Me, Tom and Travis will be the only ones approaching the group, I don’t want any hostilities if not necessary”
“Do we take guns with us?” Travis asked.
“Both of us, yes. Tom will only have small weapons hidden, since he’s supposed to be part of the trade”
“And the rest of us?” Lyla asked, raising her hand by the end of the table and looking around. There was at least eight people waiting for instructions with her.
“You all will come along. With weapons. But I want you all hidden around the perimeter” she showed them the store plant in the table. “Just in case. We don’t trust these people and for what you guys told us, we have no reason for that to change”
“How are we getting Carol back? We sure aren’t giving them Tom, are we?”
“No, Travis. But we need them to think we are, at least for now”
“And then what, Liv?”
“We’re gonna offer them what we can spare, we can coexist and even collab if it’s needed. But our people are not going anywhere”
“What if they are not willing to listen?” Travis questioned.
“We take what’s ours” Tom said, pointing to the guns.
“Let’s try and make this peacefully” Liv instructed. “This should only be used as a last option. Do you hear me?” she waited for all of them to agree with her, before addressing her council. “Henry, you’re in charge until I get back. Bill, be on guard. If we’re not back in two days, send a group to look for us. If they don’t find us in a week, well… Let go”
Henry nodded to everything Olivia asked. But he was damned if he would ever let his friends go that easily. They were still looking for Harrison after all that time.
“That’s the store” Rachel pointed to the big drawing of a building, surrounded little toy soldiers representing the dead. “There’s two ways in: by the back, where someone set traps for the dead. And by the roof, near the woods”
“Ok” Liv looked around her people, taking a deep breath. “Rach: you and Phoebe hide near the back. Lyla, you go up the roof and let the others know if you see anything suspicious. Do you guys have your walkie talkies with you right?” she nodded at her people when they confirmed.
“Brad and Jake I want you near. There’s still time before they come, so I want you to hide inside the store. Make sure to be silent”
X
They were hiding in the woods near the old parking lot, whispering the last details of the plan. Her people had already left to do their parts and Olivia, Tom and Travis stayed behind, waiting for them to come.
From afar they could see them arriving, twelve people this time, their leader and Carol. They moved together, with their leader in the center. She couldn’t see much of their faces from this far, but they sure sent a chill down her spine. They carried big weapons, used masks to hide their faces and looked way more trained than her people ever were. She could tell that just by the way they moved, how synchronized they walked, as if they were an army marching for something way more important than a meeting by the end of the world.
Once all of them were in and there was no sign of them finding her people hidden inside, Olivia decided it was their cue. She walked by the left, a hand on Tom’s arm, as if she was carrying him. Travis on the right, a gun on his hands with the strap by his shoulders. With her free hand she checked her gun was still on the holster and, taking a deep breath, walked right into the store.
The other group was standing by end of the building, no near exits. They were still with their masks on, guns on the ready, six to the left and six to the right with their leader on the center, his back to Olivia. He was looking at Carol and she was handcuffed. The look on her face… Was not a good sign.
“We brought you Tom” Olivia said, not bothering to greet or make small talk.
“Good” their leader whispered and then turned around, facing them for the first time, his blue eyes hitting Olivia’s like daggers.
“Harrison?”

Prologue
——
“Come along, Chip!” Harrison smiles as he reaches the stairs leading to the main floor of the castle. “It’s almost time for dinner, let’s see if cook Marlow needs help with the food.”
The chocolate Labrador eagerly follows the prince, whose cream tunic turns orange when it catches the setting sun. Harrison looks up at the ceiling, enjoying the way the crystals hanging from the chandelier shine with the sun before he moves his gaze towards the stained glass window overseeing the kingdom of Adendra. The colors reflect all over the sitting room, painting the once light blue walls with reds, purples and greens. He stands in the middle of the stairs for a moment, taking it all in. The golden details on the walls that run all the way up to the ceiling, the soft yellow of the sofas and the many pieces of art carefully hung up on the walls. It wasn’t how expensive all of it was that stun Harrison every time, it’s how beautiful everything looks even after so many generations it’s been in the castle.
Chip nudges his leg and whines, breaking the spell. “Dinner, right.” Harrison chuckles, scratching his dog’s head and making his way to the kitchen.
His mother, Matilda, is seating on an armchair by another window when she spots him, a teacup on her left hand. “There you are!” She smiles, “I knew you’d be coming to the kitchen any time now.”
Harrison clutches his chest for a second before walking towards his mom, who sets the teacup down. Her yellow dress, contrasts the deep blue of the armchair and the embroidery on her sleeves shine with the sun almost as brightly as her smile. “You’re going to give me a heart attack one of these days, you know.” He leans down to kiss her forehead. “You need anything mother?”
“Go and fetch your brother, please. I think he went to watch Mr. Digby make bread and I don’t want him to miss dinner.” She places a soft palm on his cheek and smiles softly when her blue eyes meet Harrison’s matching ones. “Your father should be arriving later as well.”
Chip sniffs the queen’s dress before growing an interest on the biscuits resting on the window sill next to a teapot. “Those aren’t for you, Chip.” Harrison says when he spots his dog moving towards them. “You’ll get a stomachache if you eat them.”
“I’ll save you one.” Matilda smiles, running her hand over Chip’s soft brown fur. “Don’t tell Haz.”
“I’ll be back in time for dinner, mother.” Harrison says, reaching for the teapot and warming it up with his hand. “Better than cold tea.” He beams and turns around, heading for the main door with Chip by his side as usual.
The spring air is still somewhat chilly once he steps outside, staring at the kingdom bathed in orange light in front of him. Harrison closes his eyes and takes a deep breath in, he can smell Mr. Digby’s famous bread and Mrs. Turner’s barbecue already on the grill for the evening crowd. His dog barks at his side, letting him know he smells it too. “No barbecue today, Chip. Let’s just go fetch Nicholas so we can eat dinner.
Chip seems to give him a look that says ‘Not fair but okay’ and walks ahead, looking back at Harrison to see if he was following him. “Right behind you.”
“Good afternoon, your highness. How’s the queen?” Mrs Granger, the florist, waves at him from her shop while she waters the roses by the window. The pink walls of her flower shop are covered by ivy and daisies, and a colorful assortment of bouquets are on the window display. Purple carnations with white tulips and some beautiful sunflowers paired with red roses, were the biggest ones of the display today.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Granger. My mother is quite well, thanks for asking.” Harrison waves back at her with a smile, before nodding appreciatively at the roses. “Those roses look beautiful, I’m sure the queen would love to get some tomorrow morning.”
“They’re the best ones this season.” She smiles proudly, her grey curls turning a fiery ginger color under the setting sun as she steps into a patch of light peeking between the buildings. “I saw your brother going that way, to Mr. Digby’s bakery.” She says pointing to the west side of the main village.
Harrison nods and gives her another smile,. “Of course he is, thank you. Have a nice evening, say hi to your family for me.”
The rest of the way down to the bakery was filled with similar greetings from the owners of the many shops Harrison passed along the way. The prince smiles at everyone he greets, happy to see they’re doing well as they make their way home for dinner. Harrison’s stomach grumbles in protest at the thought of food. He distracts himself and looks at his surroundings as he finally reaches the main plaza where Mr. Digby has his bakery. The plaza is a large courtyard surrounded by houses, food stands making a circle in the middle around a large fountain and the village’s main well. There’s banners hung around with hearts and Adendra’s crest in the middle to celebrate the King and Queen’s upcoming 23th anniversary. Harrison smiles again at the thought, he hasn’t known a love like the one his parents have but he wishes to have one just like that someday.
Laughter and Chip’s loud barks bring Harrison’s gaze away from the decorations towards the plaza. Chip had taken off running without him and Harrison is soon following behind. “Chip! Come back here!”
Harrison picks up the pace, trying his best to avoid colliding with the people walking in the plaza and keeping an eye on his dog. “Sorry, excuse me, pardon me.”
He runs all the way across the food stands in the middle of the courtyard by the time Chip stops in front of Nicholas who stands by the fountain. His brother has tears falling down his cheeks and his head is down while he stares at his shows. Chip is snarling at a group of boys from the village, boys Harrison immediately recognizes as the village’s bullies. They’re older than his 13 year old brother, probably 16 like him, and by the looks of it they’ve been teasing Nicholas. Clenching his fists Harrison walks towards them, standing next to his dog and in front of Nicholas.
Conceal your power, they’re not ready to know just yet. He hears his father’s voice in his mind, and Harrison tries to keep a clear head.
“Shouldn’t you find something else to spend your time on, rather than bothering my brother?” Harrison asks, raising an eyebrow. He feels his palms heat up and takes a deep breath trying to remain calm.
“Oh sorry, your highness. I thought this was your sister.” One of the boys, a tall redhead with an angry unibrow and crooked teeth steps up. He bows mockingly in front of Harrison and turns to his friends. “Isn’t that right boys?”
Harrison feels his blood start to boil as the others laugh and Nicholas hides further behind his back.
“Crying like a little girl.” One of them says, this one has straight black hair and some moles on the side of his face.
“Dressed like one too! What prince wears purple?” The third bully laughs, this one has the first signs of acne showing on his forehead, half covered by this shaggy brown hair.
It’s lilac, Harrison thinks, mom’s favorite color.
“A princess.” Unibrow mocks again, looking behind Harrison’s shoulder towards the younger prince.
Behind Harrison, Nicholas speaks up. “Mother says anyone can wear any color they like. There is no boy or girl color.
“And mother is right, Nick.” Harrison’s eyebrows meet in the middle as he glares at unibrow and his friends, hoping they get bored and leave. His mother doesn’t like fighting, or any kind of violence for that matter. Use your words or leave, she says, that’s the way.
“Who says I should listen to your dumb mother?” Unibrow says meeting Harrison’s eyes and shrugging his shoulders.
“Easy there, that’s the Queen you’re talking about.” Harrison steps forwards, he can feel smoke coming out of his clenched fists. “ You should leave, I think the town has had enough of your theatrics and I’m not going to try and change your stupid mind.”
Harrison makes sure to cool his right hand before grabbing Nicholas’ shoulder to guide him away from the scene. His back is towards the group of boys when Nicholas gasps with wide eyes. “Harrison look out!”
SPLASH!
In a matter of seconds both of them and Chip are drenched from head to toes in a foul smelling liquid. Harrison looks down at the ground and his clothes and recognizes the smell from the seafood stand he passed minutes ago. Fish guts. The dark water turned both his and Nicholas’ tunics a dark shade of brown, some of the guts clinging to the fabric. Nicholas lip is quivering and his eyes are squeezed shut, he doesn’t want them to see him cry again. Chip is barking his head off and a crowd is gathering around them to see what’s going on, murmuring amongst themselves. Suddenly it’s too loud, everything is SO LOUD, even Harrison’s breathing feels like it’s too loud.
“There that will-” unibrow is cut off when Harrison’s body feels feverish and his blood is boiling underneath his skin.
“ENOUGH!” Harrison raises his voice, somewhere behind him he hears people gasp but he doesn’t care. He knows a prince shouldn’t cause a scene, and his parents might ground him later, but he can’t let unibrow get away with this just like that. “You have made fun of my brother for being himself and insulted my mother. You have no respect and no heart, go home and leave us be!”
Unibrow is looking at him in horror, his eyes wide as he takes several steps back. “You’re the one with no heart, you’re a monster!”
Harrison suddenly realizes that unibrow is not looking at him, he’s looking at something behind him. The sound of glass shattering makes him turn around and his mouth falls open at the sight in front of him. “No, no, no.”
What have I done.
One of the houses surrounding the courtyard is on fire, the family who lives there is rushing to the well with buckets in their hands to help stop the fire. Other villagers scramble for buckets and proceed to do the same.
“Harrison… What did you do.” Nicholas mutters, scared of the sight in front of him, his eyes are full of tears.
Harrison’s eyes are tearing up as he moves to help the affected family to put it out but his distress only fuels the fire, making the flames soar and reach the two neighboring houses. The people around him gasp and step away, looks of horror on their faces which probably match the one on the prince’s face. He covers his mouth as he cries, not able to help or control his emotions so the fire can die down. His chest feels like someone is stepping on him and about to explode at the same time. I need to do something. Stop crying, please stop crying.
“You’ve done enough, young prince.” A voice comes from the sky and a flash of light blinds Harrison for a second, making him close his tear filled eyes.
Once he opens them again, he’s in a dark room. There’s dust on the floor, some cow webs on the ceiling and Harrison thinks he can make out bookshelves against the walls and a rustic chandelier hanging from the ceiling. What was that voice, how did he get her and why is he in some kind of attic? He rubs his eyes, tired from crying. “What’s going on?”
“You we’re destined to protect your kingdom, young prince.” A female voice speaks up behind him, making him turn around. “Instead you endangered them. Letting your emotions control you instead of the other way around.”
In front of him there’s a floating source of purple light, too bright to look directly at. He brings one of his hand to shield his eyes as his mind catches up with what was going on. “You- You’re my fairy. The one that gave me these powers.”
“And I can take them away just as easy.” She speaks up, a disappointed tone in her voice. “But I’m not doing that, you won’t learn if you don’t have your powers.”
“Wait- I don’t understand. Where am I? What did you do? What happened to the fire?” Harrison speaks up, a feeling of dread settling in the pit of his stomach. Were his mother’s warning actually true? Behave Harrison, or you’ll upset your fairy.
“I put out the fire and then put your kingdom to sleep.” The light answers, the disappointment not fading in the slightest from its voice. “You’re in a tower, far away from your kingdom.”
“A tower?” Harrison runs towards the closed window to his right. All the air in his lungs disappears the second he notices how far up the ground he is. The sky is turning purple as the sun sets, the tower is surrounded by two rocky mountains as far as he can tell, and he thinks he can see the sea far beyond them. His heart starts to race and his eyes begin to tear up again. He can’t stay here, there’s no way. “Why? Am I supposed to stay here until I-”
“Until the person destined to find you comes, the one with a heart as kind as yours.” The fairy interrupts, her voice is calmer now, not as reprimanding as it was before. “I cannot assure you it’ll be soon but when they find you, you have to come and find me at the fairy garden with your powers fully within your control. Only then I will return you to your kingdom and awake them from their sleep.”
The light begins to fade and Harrison panics, a sob escaping his lip. “No! Please don’t leave, I made a mistake I’m sorry! I’m so so sorry!” He falls to his knees in front of his fairy, his palms catching fire as his helplessness increases by the minute. “Please don’t leave me alone!”
“You won’t be alone, Harrison. I know I’ll see you soon.” The fairy says before disappearing, leaving the tower in complete darkness. Harrison sits down, clutching his legs against his chest and rocking back and forth.
BARK!
“Chip?” Harrison’s heads shoot up at the sound, he could recognize that sound anywhere. “Chip? Come here boy!” He lights up his palm on fire, and extends it in front of him to let Chip find him if he’s actually there.
The sound of paws scratching the floor fills the room for a few seconds before Harrison can see Chip in front of him and feel him lick his face. “Chip!” Harrison holds his dog close to him, sobbing into his fur. “I’m sorry I got us into this mess, buddy. It’s all my fault, what are we going to do?”
Chip whines and licks his face again, probably trying to dry his tears but it was no use because more kept falling. Harrison looks at his palms, why did his fairy give him these powers? They brought nothing more than destruction, they got him into this tower and it burnt down the home of many people. “This is the last time I use my powers, Chip. Let’s find some candles, and see if there’s a shower because we stink.”
Chip barks in agreement, following closely by his side as Harrison holds out his hand in front of him. He doesn’t know what will happen next, he’s never been so unsure in his life.
Someday someone will come, someday I’ll get out of here, but I’m never using these powers again…
