Happy autumn everyone!!! Today is the coldest it’s been for the last couple weeks here and it’s so refreshing coming into my favorite season!! I hate summer and am ready for the leaves and berries to start dropping and the temperatures to keep cooling down!

Was feeling kinda down and lonely the past few days, getting upset and having a lot of intrusive thoughts (everyone hates you, you have no friends, no one cares about you bla bla bla).

Then I realised I hadnt left my house in about a week but I had some plants that needed repotting so Ive spent the past few hours outside in the garden (fighting the wind because holy heck is it windy today) repotting the plants and checking on the flowers and letting my hands get covered in earth and quite literally touching grass...

...and i feel SO much better.

I know its super annoying but its very correct. Going outside and doing things for your stupid mental health is a necessity and you should do it. So this is your reminder to step outside into the fresh air and ideally get your hands dirty in the ground. Literally touch some grass or other plant life. Its Spring after all (in the northern hemisphere anyway) and its time we said hello to the flowers. If you're in the southern hemisphere go step on some crinkly leaves. That always makes me happy too.

Happy Spring to our friends in the Northern Hemisphere and Happy Autumn to our buddies in the Southern Hemisphere! With this change of seasons, we thought it would be a great time to post our schedule!

February, the second month of the year. To northern hemisphere its the last month of winter, but to the southern hemisphere it’s the beginning of spring. But to everyone its known as the month of love as much as its known as the month with 28 days (and 29 on leap years!).

You didn’t like February. There was a certain holiday on the 14th you hated with a passion. Maybe its because you had no one to spend it with or maybe you were just jealous of all the couples who got to enjoyed the day with the lovers. You know what thats besides the point you just hated Valentine’s Day.

Maybe it was worse since you’ve been pining over a boy. A boy you met a very long time ago. Your bestfriend for years. Yes you had a crush on your bestfriend. Yes you had a crush on Lee Chan, but these feelings never ended well.

Luckily for you he’s never had a girlfriend yet! But he’s got this annoying crush he annoys you with everyday.

“Chan, you can’t mope around over some girl you won’t even tell me the name of and tell me that she doesn’t like you back.” You comforted.

“But it’s Valentine’s Day in two days, I was thinking about confessing to her tomorrow.” He admitted.

You sighed, to be honest it hurts to hear. But I thought it would hurt to see him sad and you having to comfort him all over again.

“When do you see her?” You asked. “I’ll help you confess,”

His eyes lit up at your words. “Really!!”

He jumped up excitedly, “Well I was planning to meet when school ended” He began telling you his plan on how he was gonna confess to his crush. “We would go somewhere special. There’s this place I found a few months ago and I’ve always wanted to take someone there,”

He was like a happy child talking about his primary school wife, talking on and on about how he would want his confession to be like if it went well.

Apart of you wanted the mystery girl to reject him but as much as you liked him you were much happier making him happier.

He had taken you to the shops straight after that conversation. It was 5pm so Chan was lucky that it was a Thursday and the shops open late that day.

You and Chan walked around the shops going into different isles looking for things to confess with.

You saw your favourite chocolate and reached out for it. “Oh that chocolate is perfect! Thats her favourite too,” He grabbed it from your hand and put it into his basket.

“I was actually gonna buy it for myself,” You took another from the shelf but Chan also took that from your hand too.

“I’ll buy it for you,” He offered. Slightly annoyed from him taking the chocolate bar off of you instantly forgot about that when he decided he was gonna buy you one.

The both of you walked around going to different shops having fun. You guys entered the bookstore as you decided to check if a book you wanted was in stock.

“I know were here to help you confess but i’ll be quick!” You dragged Chan into the store. Walking to the section where the book you wanted would be you found the book you wanted for such a long time.

“Aw, it’s $50.” You sighed looking at the price of the book.

“That’s an awfully expensive book,” He commented. “Who would pay that much for a book.”

“I would but I’m saving up so I guess I can’t.” You frowned a bit.

You exited the store with Chan following behind you. You said it was gonna be a quick visit so you weren’t that bummed out. If you were able to stay in there as long as you wanted you would started sulking about it and buying it if you or Chan didn’t walk out of that store.

Chan had bought the last part of his confession needs so the shopping trip was coming to an end soon.

While the both of you were walking to the food court you passed by a shop the both of you loved, “Hey, I think they restocked their albums today!” Chan dragged you into the shop.

Being in the shop made you feel super poor to be honest. You were surrounded by $40-$200 albums and only had $50 on your card.

“They restocked the Apink albums.” You flicked through the albums in the Apink section. “They restocked Pink Luv,”

Pink Luv was the the only Apink album you didn’t have yet. So you desperately wanted it.

“Are you gonna buy it?”

“Its $51,” It was only a dollar more of what you had. “And I only have $50.” You sighed.

“I’m sure it’ll still be here when your payday rolls around.”

“I sure hope so,”

“Let’s get out of here and eat now,” He took you to the food court to finally get some food which was basically your dinner since it was so late.

“I hope you won’t mind if I took your Pink Luv album to complete my set.” You joked around.

“Well I hope you don’t mind me taking your signed Pink Blossoms album.”

“You wouldn’t,” You fake gasped.

“Oh I would,” He grinned stuffing the noodles he bought because they were $7 and it was happy hour into his mouth.

“You know, I’m still worried she might reject me,” He confessed.

“If she does it’s a good thing because you didn’t waste too much money,” You continued noticing his sad expression, “But all jokes aside Channie, I doubt she would reject you, you would be the perfect boyfriend.”

“Your nice, funny and an amazing dancer, a very considerate person and who would reject a guy like that, but your not that smart so,” You giggled at the last sentence.

“Thanks Y/N,” he smiled at you. It made your heart melt as much as it hurt knowing that smile was thinking about the girl he would yearn over.

“If your done with that I could drive you home,” He offered.

“I’m done now I think I’m gonna go to the bathroom before we leave.” You walked off to the bathroom. Nothing interesting happened but when you got home your heart started aching realising you basically just bought dating equipment for the man you’ve had a crush on for years.

It kept you up a little a night thinking of this realisation. At the end of the day you’ll be alright as long as hes happy.

The day of his confession rolled around and it was also the day before Valentine’s Day and you still had no one to spend it with.

By now he already confessed and you were just stuck at home. You didn’t cry over it, because even if you confessed his heart belonged to that girl.

It was around 6pm when Chan messaged you. ‘Y/N could you do me a favour?’ He asked.

‘Yea, ofc’ You replied. ‘okay i’ll pick you up in 10 get ready’

‘oh i forgot to tell u i need you to be there the entire night’ he messaged you again.

When you were done getting ready you grabbed a bag that was empty and told you parents that you were gonna have a girl’s sleepover for Valentine’s Day and that you were headed off to Minju’s house. Your parents let you go since it was a Friday.

Chan had picked you up and lead you into a forest. It was a very beautiful forest. It was also a very long walk there. “Why are we so deep into here? Did you murder her?” You asked. “No of course not!”

Eventually the both of you got there, there was fairy lights everywhere and it looks like it had been set up for a date.

“Sit down at the table here.” You complied and sat down at the oddly fancy table.

“Look under you’re table.” He told you.

You grabbed a bag that was under the table. You placed it on the table and looked inside.

“The Pink Luv album and the book!” You exclaimed. “And the chocolate too!”

“It’s all for you,” He told you. “I like you,” It took you a few minutes to register what happened.

“How did you get all this stuff?” You asked.

“It was really stressful, after I dropped you off I drove back and bought everything you wanted.”

After all this time thinking he didn’t like you back, you just started crying. “Woah woah, Y/N. What’s wrong?” You thought he liked some random girl for the past few years but it’s always been you.

“I like you too,” You wiped away your tears. “Then why are you crying?” He asked.

“I’ve liked you for years and I thought you liked someone else.” You confessed.

“If I liked someone else I’d probably tell you their name.” He laughed it off.

“Cmon, get up I didn’t plan this picnic for you to cry over it. Let’s dance.” He grabbed your hand and started playing music.

“LUV by Apink,” You noticed the song that was playing.

“You’re favourite song,” He leaned in and kissed you.

“It’s not even Valentine’s Day yet,”

“It is, it just passed a minute ago.” He held up your phone. “Oh you’re timing is really good.”

“I think I deserve a kiss for that-” You kissed him before he could finished his sentence.

Turns out this year you did have a Valentine and it’s the boy you’ve been pining over for year lucky you! Maybe you do like Valentine’s Day.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Chan leaned in and stole another kiss from you.

Day 31 - Morticia and Gomez Addams Fanart

Happy Halloween to those in the Northern Hemisphere (And Southern too although it's Spring here rn 😅)! I felt as though this absolutely iconic power couple was most appropriate for All Hallows' Eve. Relationship goals tbh~

Also this was the LAST DAY OF MY CHALLENGE, I DID IT YAY!!!!! A whole month of posting drawings!! It has been stressful but also really fun, and good practice! Thank you to everyone who has shared and liked, I've read all the tags/comments and every one has warmed my heart! If you've enjoyed what I've made this month, then you can look forward to more art from me in the near future!

I do remember that day very well. July the 12th, 2020. The day my grandfather died.

A cold southern hemisphere winter day, the pandemic. It was a clear day outside, but really cold. Everyone knew what will happen at the end of the day, we were there just to say good bye.

I remember watching my dad trying so hard not to cry, and me too, i knew, i knew he was really sad seeing his dad passing. My grandpa wanted me to protect my siblings, and take care of my dad - the last thing he did ever said to me -.

Four nights before I had the same dream, walking in Santiago, down by the main avenue, in a autumn afternoon, entering a museum building, then, i sit at a desk, trying to write something I couldn't do, then I woke up.

The next morning, July 13th, I woke up to pretty much the same dream, but I was sit outside a café, in the same avenue, in Santiago. This time I knew what I was trying to write down on that paper over the table "Peñaflor" the city where my grandpa had a house, where he lived some years ago before I was born, back in the 90s'. Then, I asked to a couple to help me, it was him, and my grandma - first time i seen her in my dreams since like 10 years, when she died-. I woke up crying, somewhat I was happier, knowing that both of them were well, not suffering anymore.

But everyday, for at least 2 months I was really sad, the winter didn't helped that much. The time september and spring arrived i could find some happiness on those little things I enjoy, the garden of my house, those flowers I fell in love with when I was a little child growing up in that country that doesn't exist anymore.

Forever I will remember them, even when I visited Villarrica last spring (2023), where my paternal family comes from, and knowing that my grandpa left, but he never comeback to the farm that saw him as a child and early teen, just before he left to the capital in search for a better life. It was like reconnecting with him, with that feeling of belonging to somewhere out there, to a place I've never been, but where I'm from.

Vlog 9: It Sunny and Cold Down Under

Hello everyone!!! Happy Friday or Saturday wherever you are on the globe. In the United States I know it just turns spring so happy spring there, and over here on the other side of the world in Aussie it is autumn here  since I’m currently in the southern hemisphere where the seasons are opposites. Autumn here started on March 1 here while in the U.S springs starts this week on the 22nd.  I know back in Susquehanna you guys just came back from break so I hope your break was relaxing your guys halfway done with your semester. Since we're talking about the seasons, today's blog is going to focus on what type of weather to expect if you come to La Trobe in Melbourne during their Fall Semester and what to pack during the season change. 

I mentioned in the 2nd vlog that one of the most important things to do before you go on your GO-trip. Researching the current and the season that next is vital because you wanna feel comfortable where you're not too hot or cold based on the clothes you bought. Since I knew that I’m arriving during Australia Summer and staying there for the duration of the fall I packed some summer stuff since it’s extremely hot in some places especially in Sydney which was my first location before arriving in Melbourne. If your staying in Australia for their Fall semester which would be from February to June pack shorts, short and long sleeve shirts, swimwear if your planning to go swimming or snorkeling, pants/leggings, sneakers, flip-flops, shower shoes, boots in case you plan on hiking, and rain boots and jacket, if you have some just in case the weather isn't too good on certain days. When you pack clothes it’s a good idea to create a list where you have enough clothes for the duration of your study abroad program. 

If you plan to take a trip somewhere in Australia some areas are hotter and or colder than some, so with the type and amount of clothes you pick it makes it easier for you to pick what clothes you bring and which clothes you're leaving behind back at the dorms. Also, before you go on any trip in Australia as I mentioned before, if you have rain gear, pack it because what I experienced so far is it rains a bit unexpectedly if the app doesn’t say it is going to rain that day. 

The current weather I experienced so far has been very chilly during the early mornings, then get hotter with the temperature increasing from the start of noon till the early to mid-evening and from there the temperature starts to drop during the evening time. So, if you have a morning class bring a jacket or sweater with you so you don't feel cold when walking to classes or if you have multiple classes a certain day it is probably the best since if a classroom gets too cold you can put it on. Also, you can wear a long sleeve shirt if you feel you won’t get too hot during your walk in the morning. If you have class around the afternoon, I suggest wearing a short sleeve but do bring a sweater with you just in case if the classroom does get cold from time to time. Lammas /Lughnasadh- the First Harvest

Time of Year

This sabbat is usually celebrated on the 1st of August in the northern hemishpere, and February 1st in the southern hemisphere. The reason they are at different times is due to the difference in seasons. Instead, on August 1st, some witches in the southern hemisphere celebrate Imbolc (or Imbolg). Some southern hemisphere witches will instead choose to celebrate the same sabbats as the northern hemisphere and adapt their celebrations to their current season instead. This post mainly focuses on Lammas/Lughnasadh in Autumn and I will refer to it as Lammas from here onwards, although both terms can be used.

Name origins and history

The name Lughnasadh (pronounced LOO-na-sa) derives from the name of the Celtic god of the sun and craftsmanship, Lugh (also spelled Lou). In Irish legend the festival began with Lugh himself, who held a funeral feast and sporting event in honour of his foster mother, Tailtiu. She had died from exhaustion after clearing farmland all over Ireland so that the people could grow crops. Lugh was also a warrior God, so many pagans celebrate with competitive sport and games at this time of year.

The name Lammas has Saxon origins, as a contraction of the words "Loaf mass" meaning a Christian celebration of the harvest. In fact, Christians used to celebrate Lammas and there were traditional rituals that strongly resemble pagan rituals: the first grain of the harvest would be made into a loaf of bread, which would then be quartered and places in the four corners of the house to ensure protection and prosperity. Over time, Christians abandoned these rituals and pagans took over the celebration of Lammas.

The two words came from different areas (Lughnasadh from Ireland and Scotland, Lammas from Southern England and Saxon-inhabited Europe) but have become synonymous in modern pagan celebrations.

Other names include Gŵyl Awst (Welsh) and August Eve.

What do we celebrate?

Lammas is a celebration of the first harvest of the year, with the next harvest being at Mabon in mid-September (northern hemisphere). The days are getting shorter and the crops have finished growing and are ready to be harvested.

Correspondences

Wiccans believe it is the time when the God has finished transferring his energy into the crops and he is ready to lie down and rest for the colder months ahead. Other wiccans believe that a part of him is sacrificed when the grain is harvested and is reborn later in the year.

Lammas is a time of fulfillment, abundance, connection and gratitude. Spells for mental and physical gain are strong at this time, and meditation focusing on these themes can be associated with Lammas. If you can, meditate outside, as it is a great way to connect with nature, but be safe and don't risk your health to do so. Rituals using the sun's energy or the fire and earth elements are particularly effective too.

Colours: brown, orange, yellow, gold (autumn/harvest colours)

Symbols: wheat, sickle or scythe, bread, baskets, fresh fruit and vegetables, corn

Crystals: amber, citrine, aventurine, cat's eye, gold topaz, carnelian, clear quartz

Herbs and plants: sage, mint, basil, aloe, rose, wheat, barley, rye, hops, blackthorn, hazel, gorse, meadowsweet

Flowers: marigold, sunflower, calendula

Animals: rooster, buck, cow, sheep

Foods: bread (or anything else made from grains), potatoes, pies (homemade if possible), wine and beer (if you are of legal drinking age)

Gods/goddesses: Ceres, Vesta, Demeter, Hestia, Corn Mother, Lugh, John Barleycorn, Isis

Activities and Festivities

In Ireland, there is a festival typically from the 10th to the 12th of August called Puck Fair, where a wild goat (a symbol of fertility) is brought from the hills and crowned King Puck. It is paraded around for three days while there are parades, dances, face painting and street entertainment, then it is released back to the hills after the festival is over. This is one of the oldest known celebrations of Lammas and is present in ancient Irish literature.

Activities to do at home could be things like baking bread, pies or cakes, decorating your altar with baked goods, ribbons, seasonal flowers and fruits, and one of the most popular things to do is make a corn dolly. These are little figures made of corn stalks that are woven together, with designs ranging from very simple to incredibly skilled and complex.

EDIT: I have been informed by @irelandseyeonmythology that this is not a corn dolly, it is a traditional love knot. Instead of a proposal, these are used throughout the year to publically display the couple's courtship and their intention of marriage in the spring season.

When I made this a while ago I was told it was a corn dolly, hence the mistake. Anyway, here's how to make a love knot:

How to make it:

Using 3 stalks of corn, tie them together just below the ears (the bushy bit) and plait the stalks together, leaving about 2-3 inches un-plaited. Twist the plaited part around twice to make the 'head' of the knot and tie it together with a ribbon of any colour. The colour of the ribbon changes the meaning slightly (see the correspondences of colour magick).

Go for a walk if you can, and try to go somewhere with nature. If you have a dog, walk your dog. Try and get some fresh air outside, it's really good for mental, physical and spiritual health!

Year’s Cycle

God almighty, did I need to write something beautiful and funny and them in this strange and hollow spring.

“I always did like this time of year best,” Aziraphale said as they settled in their garden with a bottle of wine and oh, just the smallest of charcuterie boards, really just a hint of a snack to complement the lovely vinho verde Crowley had scared up from the cellar for them. There was a definite chill in the air, but there was also the smell of apple blossoms, so outside they were.

“Me too,” Crowley said gleefully, toasting the world around them and topping up Aziraphale's glass.

“Oh, how lovely!” Aziraphale lit up and took a sip. “It's so full of promise. Everything blooming and coming back to life again. Of course England stays ever so green, but there's colour again,” he said, waving to the patch of daffodils under a great oak tree that shaded their garden – or would, when the buds currently forming burst into leaf. They were fat and swelling, and Aziraphale fancied he could almost hear the pop when the soft baby leaves and the long strands of oak flower appeared.

“And giving everyone allergies,” Crowley said.

“Oh. Of course.” Aziraphale gave him a dry look. “Can't forget that.”

“And I don't! The miasma of misery, angel, that's what it is!” Crowley took a satisfied drink, and subtly pushed the board closer to Aziraphale. The brie had just warmed enough to be particularly fragrant, and he'd even bought those little toast rounds to pair with it.

Aziraphale sighed loudly, and ate a grape.

“Really, this was the time of year my numbers always went up, not like the holidays as you'd expect,” Crowley reminisced. “Not that retirement isn't better, mind. Glad I don't have to worry about all that stuff.”

Aziraphale gave a theatrical shudder. “Oh, absolutely, my dear. I'll never have to submit a report to Gabriel again.” He sighed in pleasure at the very notion, and finally started in on the brie to celebrate.

“No more paperwork,” Crowley said dreamily, sipping from his glass. It was, really, the smallest of their joys, but it was also the safest and most containable. The deeper, sadder memories could lie untouched on this spring evening.

“How funny,” Aziraphale said. “That our sides rose and fell in the same way through the year. Spring was my busy time as well; everyone was so happy to have winter over with, and of course there were weddings and young love and such things. Oh my dear, you must try these grapes, they're beyond scrummy.” He plucked a grape from the small bunch and held it out.

Crowley ate from his fingertips, the cold fruit bursting sweet-tang in his mouth, thin skin shattering under his teeth, and he agreed that yes, they were really very good, chilled by the air. The sun was just kissing the horizon now; the sky was pink and beautiful.

“Summer was slow,” Aziraphale said, going back to comparing their schedules. “Of course, there's always a kind of background radiation of souls doing good...”

“And bad,” Crowley agreed. “But summer was always slow. Could take all of August off, if I liked.”

Aziraphale, who generally felt no need to do more than the bare minimum and had scarpered off for holidays with Crowley regularly, sighed in envy. “Do you remember those summer nights in Rome?”

“When?” Crowley asked.

“Any of them.” Aziraphale ate more cheese, the heady smell of it filling his senses.

“Yes,” Crowley said, and meant it. He held out his hand and Aziraphale touched it, then fit his fingers into the space between Crowley's so that his angelic ring knocked, ever so softly, against the ring that Crowley wore. It wasn't a wedding ring, for they hadn't had a wedding, but it matched the one on Aziraphale's hand, so close enough.

“Autumn ought to have been your time,” he offered generously. “All that veil between the worlds stuff.”

“You'd think,” Crowley sighed. “Oh, Halloween helped a bit, mind. But all that harvest festival stuff. Spring in the southern hemisphere just didn't make up for it.”

“We did all right,” Aziraphale agreed. “Mostly with the rains coming. People gave thanks, and all.”

Crowley nodded and toasted him with a freshly-charged glass of wine. “And then winter. Bloody midwinter holidays,” he grumbled. “Full of greed and anger and the good old days! Some poor sod finds a bean, he's willing to make a deal for anything.”

“Tch,” Aziraphale said. “Half the world's busy with summer, the other half is remembering how much they hate their Gran. Though there were miracles and blessings and joy aplenty, of course.”

“Oh, yes,” Crowley agreed. “But it was all extremes.”

“Yes! Yes, that's it exactly!” Aziraphale leaned forward a bit in excitement, one hand waving to encompass all of Earth and human history. “Didn't know whether you were coming or going.”

“Show up to do a temptation and practically get burned by some good deed!” Crowley agreed. He was so pleased that Aziraphale knew exactly what he was talking about that he ate a cracker with cheese on it.

“My dear, having a quiet Christmas at home has been the best part of being retired,” Aziraphale decided.

“The best?” Crowley asked, waggling his eyebrows.

Aziraphale sighed and rolled his eyes. “Very well, second best.”

Crowley shrugged. “Won't disagree with you, then,” he said cheerfully, and finished off the bottle of wine, sharp and fragrant in the chilly night. They'd go inside soon, and probably share another bottle, and Aziraphale would insist on coming to bed with him to make sure he warmed up even under the quilts on their bed. And it wasn't like Crowley would say no, he wasn't stupid.

For the moment though, they drank new wine and breathed air perfumed with blossoms, while the stars slowly came out overhead.

Happy HiNaegi Holidays is a Winter Holidays related Hinaegi/Kamuegi event! However, this year we are going to try to do a secret exchange!!! The Secret Exchange plays exactly like Secret Santa! Participants will be assigned someone to make a gift for (fanfiction, fanart, edit, or other) without telling the other person that they are their secret gift-giver!

August Monthly Tarot Reading

It’s August already! Wow, time goes by fast. Lots of changes will be happening this month, so I thought it would be a good idea to do a reading. Many people will be going back to school this month, or in early September, and parents may be feeling extra stress to figure out how to deal with the new school arrangements and going back to work. Some are having to start college or a new school online, missing out on big activities. People still face unemployment, homelessness, hunger and sickness. With Summer coming to an end, and Autumn approaching, it is important to focus on the changes that we already go through every year. Everything is part of a major cycle, and we’ve already gone through this before. This month, I would like you to focus on what you can release from your life, whether that is any worries you may have, negative people in your life, or possibly even some items around your house that you don’t need anymore and are just taking up space. As we turn in our swimsuits for notebooks, let’s use this time to focus on the positives that we’ve received. These last few months have been difficult on everyone, and will continue to impact people all around the world for a little while longer, but there are plenty of beautiful things that have come from this time that you can find if you look close enough. Now, let’s get on to the reading. 

The three oracle cards in this reading, describe what I just said perfectly. First, we are called to think about what we can release. Maybe if we can release our expectations about how this school year or getting back to work will be like, we can have a more positive outlook on what is happening. Along with this idea, adjustments are required. Things are different now than they were before covid-19. Instead of focusing on what we don’t have that we wish we did, we need to be thinking about alternate ways to see our friends, stay productive in school and work, and take care of ourselves. By understanding and accepting the fact that things are going to be different and some changes may be necessary, we could begin to realize that these changes could lead to a better outcome. This is a time for personal discovery; learning new things about ourselves and the world. We may not have much time left stuck at home, but we could use the little time we have left to enjoy just being able to be still. The third card is Full Moon - Surrender to the Divine. Even if you do not believe in a higher power or deity, it will likely be helpful in this time to think about the bigger picture. We do not know all of the answers; we do not know what will happen in the future. The best thing to do in order to release negative energy and worry/stress, is to trust that things will work themselves out. Be open to this idea, and see what happens. Interestingly, there is a full moon on August 3rd. I will try to do another reading then as well, but you can try thinking about this idea then. 

The Six of Pentacles reversed is the tarot card to represent this month overall. Some people have been thinking of being in quarantine as a way to give back to the environment, after using so many of the earth’s resources to power our lifestyles. By taking time to stay at home and be still, we can return what we borrowed. This can also be on a more personal level, maybe it’s time to show people in your life how grateful you are for them and what they’ve done for you. Three is definitely an energy this month of hastiness and fear leading to overprotectiveness. For some, places around the world may seem to be going back to normal too quickly, and others wish it would go faster. It is important to get kids back in the classroom and people back in the workplace for the economy. Many people are afraid of what will happen if either situation comes true. There are both negative and positive things that could come from going back to regular life too quickly or too slowly, just like there are negative and positive aspects to everything in our lives. Again, I think the importance here is to trust in the process and know that you don’t need to be proactive on everything, as well as to accept that things are going to be different. But at the same time, everyone is going through this, and although we may be impacted in different ways, we are all facing some challenges because of this. There is also therefore room for personal growth and changing the ways we live our lives on a larger scale. The Tower card in this reading makes me think that there is going to be some big climax or change. Things are going to be difficult for a while. But this change will lead to a positive outcome. Outside of this reading, I personally do seriously believe that if we take this time to look for new ways to do things and to come together, we will end up in a better position. Hopefully we will be more prepared in case something like this happens in the future and we will be stronger. The Three of Wands calls us to look positively into the future, and think about how we can improve and continue to learn new things. We are never too old to stop learning and exploring. Try to distance yourself from the stress of the world, and take some time for yourself or your family. 

There are plenty of positives to find right now if you take the time to look for them. Take some time to enjoy this last month of summer (or winter if you live in the Southern Hemisphere, sry! If you do live in the Southern Hemisphere, it is even more important to look for new positives in Spring). Solstices and Equinoxes

The skies in Andean locations are extremely clear, which made it very easy for their inhabitants to look closely during the day and night and learn from their patterns. Their gods were represented in these skies, such as the sun in the day and the moon at night. Being that the sun was the most prominent god in their culture, they used it more than anything else, and one such use was for determining when the solstices are.

The sun’s movements were a crucial component for building their calendar (see The Incan Calendar for more). Once the calendar has been established, they were able to mark the main solstices by the movements of the sun on the horizon. These solstices were the Inti Raymi/Sun’s Celebration during the winter solstice on June 21, and the Qhapaq Raymi/Royal Celebration in Inka’s honor during the summer solstice on December 22.

Inti Raymi is held when the sun reaches the Cancer tropic line, June 21, which marks the start of winter in the southern hemisphere. At this time, the days are shorter, and it gets cold enough where the land starts to no longer produce crops. The celebration is a way of asking the sun to not move away from the Earth as to prevent mass cooling and mass extinction of the human race.

Qhapaq Raymi is held when the sun reaches the Capricorn tropic line, December 22, which marks the start of summer in the southern hemisphere. It also marks the beginning of the calendar year. The days are now longer and warmer, crops are growing, and it is simply a very happy time overall for everyone involved.

There were also Spring and Autumn equinoxes (September 23 and March 21, respectively), and it is assumed that there were celebrations for these, too. (The Handbook does not go into detail about these.)

There were also stone markers for these equinoxes (based on the sun’s position in the sky) but they were destroyed by the Spanish during their invasion, citing the markers as locations to worship “fake” gods.

On the September 23rd Equinox, the Sun moves into the constellation of Libra and we experience equal hours of day and night.

The September Equinox is also our halfway mark through the astrological year and our signpost that the calendar year is slowly coming to an end.

It’s amazing to think there are only three or so months left of 2019. How are you going to use them? How do you want to finish up the year?

For some of us, we may feel called to roll up our sleeves and get to work on our goals. For others, we may feel called to relax and to focus on our health and wellbeing.

The September Equinox also brings a change of seasons and this change in seasons shifts the direction and flow of energy that we get to work with.

In the Northern Hemisphere, we move from Summer to Autumn and energy begins preparing to move from an outward, masculine state to an inner, feminine state.

Summer is a time of masculine expression. It is a time to put ourselves out there, to get things done, take action, and to celebrate our journey.

Now, as the leaves begin to fall and the weather gets cooler, Mother Nature begins preparing for a type of death, and we too may feel called to let things go.

We may also feel a need to “put things on ice” or to release our attachment to taking action and making decisions in order to see where things may flow on their own.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons change from Winter to Spring and energy begins moving from an inner, feminine state into an outward, masculine state.

Winter is a time of feminine expression. It is a time to retreat within, to spend time in reflection, and to think about how we can best support, nourish, and nurture ourselves. It is also a creative time and one where we can dream, manifest, and envision all we would like to achieve.

Now, with Spring in the air, we can take all of our hopes and dreams, and begin turning them into realities. We can take all we have learned from this time in retreat and start blossoming into action.

Even though our location will determine how we will experience these Equinox energies, on this day, all of us will experience this equality and balance between light and dark energies.

The scales will be balanced and we will be able to experience the merging of these two energies to the point where we can feel them as one.

Here in this physical world, duality is presented to us and we can label things as wrong or right, black or white, male and female.

On a day like the Equinox however, everything is in balance. There is no you and me, or this and that, instead there is just one. One planet, one world, and even one soul.

Imagine for a moment that we are all just one giant soul that split off into multiple bodies, multiple animals, and multiple plants in order to experience life in all the many ways possible.

Imagine that we are all one and the same, that you are in everything and everything is in you. Feel into this idea that every animal you see, plant you touch, and person you meet is really just a different fragment of your soul.

We all share the same soul. We all come from the stars and we will all return to the stars. We are all one; we are all just Source energy.

As our home planet aligns in this perfect harmony and balance on the Equinox, we can feel into this idea, and recognize that we are as much the tree as it is us, and we are as much our enemies or the people we admire as they are us, we are all just an independent expression of the same soul.

Besides feeling into the expression of oneness, the September Equinox also serves as a reminder to bring some balance into our lives and to take ownership of the direction we are heading in.

At the time of the 2019 Equinox, we will have 9 cosmic bodies in Cardinal signs, which are the signs that rule over this idea of leadership, pushing forward, and breaking new ground.

With so many planets in Cardinal signs, it is a time to really think about how we can pivot the things in our life that are no longer working for us.

Overall, the September Equinox 2019 is a time to celebrate equality and to recognize the oneness in all of us. It is a time to focus on bringing balance into our lives and to start thinking about how we wish to wrap up the calendar year.

Character’s darkest secret: sometimes, she isn’t sure of her place in the world. she often feels as though she isn’t as needed as she likes to believe and it has made her feel quite insecure -- why need spring when new life can be formed any time of the year, right? Does anyone else know?: nope! she keeps this to herself because she’s very guarded when it comes to negative emotions. she doesn’t want anyone to know she feels anything negative.

Goals:

Drives and motivations: okay she can be VERY stubborn but she also wants to see the earth as a safe and happy place for both people and animals, and she wants to do her best to accomplish this. Immediate goals: turning her room into a mini bird sanctuary tbh. Long term goals: protecting the earth and animals, seeing the people she cares about happy and healthy. How he/she feels about himself/herself: she likes to think she’s a good person but she can feel quite insecure at times. sometimes, she feels like she can be too annoying and will do things to try and combat that. One word the character would use to describe self: warm One paragraph description of how the character would describe self: “warm and kind; i’d say i’m a person who’s just trying to spread joy around the world, to make it a better place. i know i can be neurotic about it, but i’m just doing my part.” a slight pause. “i sometimes don’t feel so sure of myself -- don’t tell anyone i said that, though -- because, like, i feel so young compared to everyone here and i just... i just want to do my best and prove myself but i feel like -- like i’m not doing any good. What does the character consider her best personality trait?: her optimism What does the character consider her worst personality trait?: a toss up between how stubborn she can be and how annoying she can be. What does the character consider her best physical characteristic?: she quite likes her green eyes What does the character consider her worst physical characteristic?: probably her smile, as wild as that is. How does the character think others perceive her: as an annoying little kid who can’t stop bugging them; as that one optimistic friend who always tries to find the bright side no matter what. What would the character most like to change about herself: probably how she goes about interacting with other people; there’s just something inside of her that can’t recognise when others are becoming tired of her.

Relationships with others:

Opinion of other people in general: she doesn’t like to judge anyone until she gets to know them; other people are on a neutral ground for her until she gets to know them and then she can form her opinion on them. depending on who they are, she will either treat them with warmth and kindness or shun them. Does the character hide her true opinions and emotions from others?: occasionally. she won’t lie to people about how she feels about them, simply because that’s not honest and can be quite damaging -- to both parties. Person character most hates: she tries not to hate anyone but if she had to pick? climate change deniers.  Person character goes to for advice: no one. call it pride or stubbornness but she likes to pretend that she knows everything and doesn’t need advice but mostly, she’s just trying to prove herself to the others. Person character feels responsible for or takes care of: not really a person per say but all of the animals she comes across. i’m sure there’s plenty of times when she’s had to be told to not bring one home.
