Aaaaaaand here's Week 11 of Daily Dragons! Just like the last 2 posts. Moving. Tired. Stressed. Major life changes. No time to post. This last week also had a lot of bad days so I had to lump a lot of missed days together. For example, the Yoshis are actually the last 2 days of last week AND the first 2 days of this week. But enough talk, here's what I was cooking last week.
As always you can follow me on twitter where they’re posted daily
And read more info on each of them below the cut
Daily Dragon #70 - Dragon Mario
Happy #MAR10Day!! I won't do it right now cause I'm a little busy atm but I'd like to draw Luigi, Peach, and Toad with the power too! Like I said before, this is an older concept from 2019 like I said! Here's how it used to look, I think I've cleaned it up a lot!
Tumblr media
Also I found an attempt to redesign this concept from 2023! Neat! I still think this newest version is best though
Tumblr media
Daily Dragon #71 - Dragon Tank
To celebrate Chrono Trigger's anniversary! It didn't come out perfectly, but I mean we only ever see it from one angle, cut me some slack lol
Daily Dragon #72 - Lil Dragon
Small, pudgy dragons that love playing and biting! They're a little rambunctious so you need to give them lots of chew toys so they leave your stuff alone!
Wanted to draw something small and easy today lol this is another redraw of this little fella from 2019 I believe, I don't THINK this is related to the Pico dragons?
Tumblr media
Daily Dragon #73 / #74 - Gemini Dragons
Two dragon sisters who fly around the Gemini constellation. They're never seen apart, even fighting side by side with crossover attacks!
Daily Dragon #75 / #76 / #77 / #78 - Yoshis
Coming in many shapes, sizes, colors, and powers, Yoshis are some of the cutest dinosaurs in the world! Do you have a favorite Yoshi color? Mine are easily Black and White!
Some bonus variants with the other Yoshi colors :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know this might seem a touch bit like cheating cause it's 4 Yoshis and also they're dinosaurs not dragons. But before you say this consider: nah it's cool actually

Last Monday of the Week 2023-01-23
New experiences!
Listening: I put out a call for electronic music earlier this week and so that's what I've been listening to. The song that has been stuck in my head is S3RL's Bass Slut, which is unfortunate given that I already knew some S3RL and I don't really like most of it. Not a very useful datapoint.
youtube
This has had me going back to all the psychedelic recommendations I got from people on IRC.
Reading: Working through Google's Rust training
Good introduction to the key programming concepts without being a "Baby's first language" guide. Very happy to throw the stdlib at you and say "here, figure it out."
This was prompted by hearing about the ESP-RS project, which is toolchains and libraries for running Rust on Espressif microcontrollers. I basically only use ESP-32's given the choice these days because integrated networking and two cores is so useful. I guess the Pi Pico W might also be a contender to look at at some point.
Watching: So close to finishing Umbrella Academy Season 3. I'll say so far this is both the funniest and weakest season. Too much magic.
Playing: Nothing! Power outages have been a major source of interference and I no longer have any routine games because I dropped Forza pretty hard. It's actually wild how hard that was dropped, after seeing my Steam annual stats I basically haven't touched it. Thanks Steam.
Making: More quilt as always, and more Galena.
Tumblr media
Quilt is coming along well, it's probably going to be finished by my mother only after I leave the country but I think most of the patchwork will be done between now and then at least.
Galena has a new set of cases! They're almost done, but sanding them with the orbital sander was a nightmare. Going to rent time in a workshop to finish them off with a disk sander or an oscillating orbital sander, as well as to cut cable channels with a table router.
Tumblr media
Realized I finally had an excuse to use the machine screw cutter in my wire strippers and used that to trim the machine screws holding the plate down to length. Everything is coming together.
Tools and Equipment: Self-adhesive non-slip rubber feet go a long way to making stuff feel more robust. You know this, I know this, laptop manufacturers know this. Around the 2010's laptop manufacturers realized that they could make a lightweight laptop feel much more solid if it just held its position on a table rather than sliding around at the slightest bump, and that's why all laptops have those long rubber strips for feet. This was popularized in the XPS13 but I think some other companies were doing it before that.
I bought a pack of 50 of those clear round rubber bumpers and they're stupendously sticky, they lock anything in place on a flat surface with even a little weight. I stuck some on Galena while she's in this half-finished state so I can keep typing, and I stuck some on my laptop's USB hub so that it doesn't flop around so much. Feels way less rattly and cheap now, that goes for Galena and the hub.

Into, Across and Beyond!: Changes from the Universal Resets
WARNING!: Unmarked spoilers for Mario's Madness and Undertale Yellow below.
As discussed in prior posts, two whole universes ended up being reset via in-universe circumstances, akin to the Super Genesis Wave. There are several changes that happened between the two universes, but I'll go into detail about them here.
Dimension FNF-2020 (Pre-Reset)
Boyfriend and Girlfriend met through unknown circumstances and quickly fell in love.
Due to unfaltering bravery, BF breezed through many challenges life threw at him.
Boyfriend's only family member is Ritz the Rat, who he adopted, while Girlfriend only had her parents.
Pico stopped the school shooting, but many lives were lost.
Boyfriend often challenged those who weren't in the mood for it.
The Vs. Sonic.exe and Mario's Madness events happened separately.
During the Corruption, Boyfriend went plain and simple over the course of 2 days to get rid of it after breaking free.
Aside from Hex, Carol and Sunday, BF didn't fully bond with all the mod rivals he met along the way.
The breaking point came when SHM assimilated Girlfriend, driving BF into a mix of heartbreak and fury in his final moments, before he ended up dying.
Pico was the sole survivor of the Mario's Madness events, and unwittingly caused the reset when stumbling across an entity resembling Bowser.
Dimension FNF-NEW-2023 (Post-Reset)
Benjamin and Grace met at high school and became close friends. Love blossomed as they grew closer to one another.
Benjamin clearly isn't as brave as Boyfriend was, but he still did his best to tackle the challenges life threw at him.
Benjamin and Grace's families are bigger, including parents, siblings (including their younger "genderswap" counterparts, Kaity and Chris) and cousins.
Pico, due to retaining his memories post-reset, managed to stop the school shooting quicker by going straight for Cassandra, saving many more lives than he would've otherwise.
Benjamin is fully considerate about who he faced, and if they didn't want to do it, there's no hard feelings or force on the guy's part.
Mario's Madness and Vs. Sonic.exe happened together in the same cartridge, and this time, Benjamin came out alive, even giving M a second chance as his variant of Cappy.
The Corruption lasted at least two weeks, with Benjamin and the freed people giving it their all to get rid of it.
Benjamin gained many friends out of those he was able to get friendly singing competitions out of.
In this universe, Updike (like in VS Whitty Fire Fight) realised he wasn't capable of his job and shut down the Greater Good after encouragement from Whitty to have a second chance.
Benjamin, after More than One Universe, got Soft Boyfriend/Benjamin adopted into his family, and even got to make new friends out of the interdimensional BFs and GFs.
Dimension EV-2019 (Pre-Reset)
A demonic thing known as the Puhoi Curse was one of the driving forces of events, and doomed the young Audrey after he was unwillingly corrupted by it. It's also what forced Bently into a new life.
In the original Errorverse, Dr. Eggman, after enough time, redeemed himself and became Mr. Tinker.
Many More Heroes doesn't happen pre-reset.
Various failed timelines occurred, though many of their denizens were able to get safety through the Omega Timeline/OMEGA Universe.
Seak was outright insane to the end and did not get a happy ending, only earning the ire of his big brother, Teak.
Clover (from UT Yellow) remains deceased after the events of that game.
During one event, Amber Lightvale was still alive and well, and thanks to a still-alive Bete Noire messing with a deadly virus, she caused the two to split bodies. (Yes, both Underverse and Glitchtale occurred in the Errorverse.)
Through a lead-up in harsh circumstances, Brian, Calteron's guardian, was ultimately killed trying to stop Puhoi's tyranny.
A strange galaxy-like energy caused the big reset to happen.
Dimension EV-2019 (Post-Reset)
The Puhoi Curse never occurred, so Audrey is able to co-exist with other cast members without its threat holding over him.
Post-reset, Dr. Eggman and Mr. Tinker were split into separate people, the doctor even bringing in his own version of the SSSSS Squad to fight EV!Sonic with. No points for guessing where that got him.
Evo, Nitro's younger brother, and Sid Chang (who's friends with the brothers and their sisters alongside Lincoln, Clyde and Ronnie-Anne) both started up their own science group that Seak, who is much more stable and adorable, regularly attends as a way to make friends.
Post-reset, due to EV!Sonic's meeting with Tekno, Many More Heroes and the other IAB! stories after More than One Universe are able to properly occur, thanks to the Quill Society being formed from their bonds.
The failed timelines still happened, but thankfully, the OMEGA Universe was still open for them as per normal.
Post-reset, because Clover willingly gave their soul for the underground, they were unconscious until Frisk came back to return their soul after permanently shattering the barrier. As such, they now enjoy life on the surface with other monsters, including Martlet.
In the "rewrite" universe post-reset, while Bete Noire is reincarnated after Glitchtale, she isn't in control anymore, as Amber now has host of her body, complete with a more cute version of Akumu. In Amber's case, what you see on the outside is what you get.
Brian is alive and well post-reset, still taking his job as guardian with utmost pride.
Since they met the canon Sonic (or Sonic Prime/Prime Sonic, whichever you wanna call him), Exester and Nameless recall a time when Sonic.EXEs attacked the Prime dimension, though haven't really elaborated on it. Ask @mcgamejolter if you wish to know more.
For the two resets, those that fully recall all of the pre-reset events are Pico, Nitro, Amelia, Reemah and Enzo (close friends of Brian), EV!Sonic, EV!Tails, EV!Knuckles, EV!Amy, Teak, Daveline (Teak's GF) and Brian himself, all thanks to an orb holding those old memories. Said orb shattered after the memories were restored.
In addition, anyone in the Blur Gang, alongside those holding Time Stones, completely recall all of what occurred. As such, there's no confusion on their ends about what happened.

1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 ?? <33
thank you kenna for asking i love you <3 please tell me any books you're interested in reading as well
1. What are 2-5 already published fiction books you think you want to read in 2023?
bestiary by k ming chang because i was supposed to read it before 2022 ended. i'll list some that intimidate me most: rebecca, wuthering heights, p&p, go tell it on the mountain. DO NOT speak to me about whale weekly i'm so annoyed by how behind i am i'm two seconds away from giving up
2. What are 2-5 already published nonfiction books you think you want to read in 2023?
underland by robert mcfarlane 2023 is your year. h is for hawk by helen mcdonald 2023 is your year. women race & class 2023 is your year. why be happy when you could be normal 2023 is your year. they can't kill us until they kill us 2023 is your year.
3. Any poetry on your TBR? yes all the poetry i couldn’t get to this year: tommy pico (feed), donika kelly (bestiary), louise gluck (1962-2020), anne carson (autobiography of red), ocean vuong (time is a mother). it would be cool to attempt homer?
5. What 2023 new releases are you most looking forward to?
ALECTO THE NINTH OCTOBER 10TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (edit: NOT confirmed date but goodreads has it like that!) a day of fallen night by samantha shannon, chlorine by jade song, HOPEFULLY my favorite thing is monsters pt 2 by emil ferris and death valley by melissa broder. jenny odell has a new book coming but i'm afraid </3
6. Do you have any conceptual reading goals? E.g., I plan to read books on food history.
mostly i want to read the books that i've been meaning to read for years and years. even though i know i'm not gonna stick to it 100% i've got a list of priority books and a lot of them i've been wanting to read for at least 5 years or even more. i really wanna give all of those books a chance... this is a cop-out answer to a good question. i feel like i'm missing out on a lot! i want to strengthen my foundations be it in fiction or theory. and foundations usually come from older texts so that’s where i’m kinda directing myself. like i have a book entirely about genetics on the list cause that’s the basis for everything right and that's what i want to do for all of my interests read like, texts that will build me foundations for the rest
8. Are there any reading challenges you want to try? have not found a challenge where i like all the prompts (and if i'm doing a challenge i would like to do all the prompts RIGHT) so i had sketched out one of my own where i mixed and matched mostly from the popsugar challenge and ended with like 35 prompts but i'm not sure if i'll stick to it!

85 Super Bowl Appetizers The Whole Team Will Love
Everyone can unite over winning apps!
by CAMILLE LOWDER
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2023

One of our favorite parts about the Super Bowl (Feb. 12, 2023) is how it can bring people together, united over one common goal—watching Rihanna in the halftime show. 😉 We jest, obviously we’re talking about the food! Whether you’re in it for the sports, the wild commercials, the Puppy Bowl, or the halftime show, everyone can unite over some winning apps for Super Bowl LVII. We have all the classics, like next-level wings, dips, and sliders, plus some show-stoppers like pull-apart breads and football-themed desserts.
There’s really something for everyone, from last-minute party throwers to hosts with the most. Short on time? Throw some chips or crackers in a bowl, serve next to an epic dip like our Nashville hot chicken dip or our football field dip, and call it a day. Looking for something a little easier? Homemade guacamole is always a hit, and nacho cheese is a classic for a reason. Looking to impress? Our sloppy Joe cups, our cheeseburger tot sliders, and our shrimp tostada bites are the perfect intersection between classy and game day. Want to really wow your crowd? Put our pull-apart spinach-artichoke football, our blooming quesadilla ring, or our football field dip in the middle of your app table and watch people lose their minds.
Sometimes all it takes for an incredible party spread is to change up the flavors of old standbys. We love Buffalo wing sauce as much as the next person, but were happily blown away by the flavor of our Taiwanese popcorn chicken, our honey-garlic cauliflower, and our ranch wings too. We almost couldn’t believe it, but grape jelly does truly elevate meatballs. And turns out, you can put anything in an egg roll—like Reuben sandwich-, meatball sub-, or cheesesteak-inspired fillings—for the perfect party appetizer.
No matter who you’re cheering for this Super Bowl, these apps will start the day off right—and keep everyone happy right up to the last play. For more game day inspiration, check out our favorite Super Bowl snacks, our top game day desserts, and our best-ever Super Bowl drinks too.

Classic Buffalo Wings
To save time (and avoid missing the game!), skip the fried wings this year and make these baked Buffalo wings instead. They're so much easier while still giving you a deliciously crispy, saucy, and caramelized result.

You could just have normal, plain old fries. You could even have double-fried fries. But in our minds, when you really want to make yourself some fried spuds that are extra special, you have to make these loaded fries.

Sheet-Pan Green Chile Chicken Nachos
What’s better than a tray of cheesy chicken nachos? Four cheese chicken nachos! Don’t worry, though, a couple cans of chopped green chiles cut the richness of all that cheese. (Not that we’re complaining.) We’ll leave the toppings up to you, but we suggest The Works, aka red onion, radishes, avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, and hot sauce.

Sour Cream & Onion Dip
Letting the onions caramelize properly is key to the flavor of this dip. Going low and slow allows them to develop color while breaking down and becoming sweet and jammy. Stir them into this easy dip with some chives, and you have a simple appetizer that's crazy delicious. It will stay good in the fridge for a few days, so it's great to make ahead of time too!

Nachos Supreme
In 1943, some wives of U.S. soldiers stationed at Fort Duncan in Eagle Pass, Texas, were on a shopping trip in the bordering city of Piedras Negras, Mexico. They stopped at a just-closed restaurant. Not wanting to disappoint his customers, the maître d’, Ignacio "El Nacho" Anaya, was determined to whip something up for them. He made do with what was left in the kitchen—tortillas, cheese, and pickled jalapeños—and served what would go on to be called "Nacho's especiales." TMYK!

Advent of Code 2023 - Day Eight
spent a lot of time on this one playing with importing graphics. obviously. much of it went into experimenting with palettes in photoslop which wasn't something i really want to do again despite how happy i am with how this came out. the camel sprites were cut out from various images from google; the lighting changes i did on one of them are portfolio worthy even before being crunched down to pico size.
oh i also stuffed the bg graphics data into the memory region used for sound effects so there was room for that and the camel sprites. that was fun.
my answer to part two ended up being 15.7 trillion so letting it play out like this only worked for the first part even at maximum speed lol

Pico Iyer's 'The Half Known Life' upends the conventional travel genre
January 10, 2023
“In Jerusalem, humans were so sure of their gods that each drew, in rough bold strokes, its own image of paradise on top of somebody else’s. It was dangerously easy to believe that what we do with heaven is even more important than what heaven does to us.”
'Seeing the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden as a necessary fall, and the Buddha's departure from his princely estate as a conscious acceptance of human frailties, Iyer concludes that a true paradise is only attainable through displacement."
READ MORE https://www.npr.org/2023/01/10/1148033914/pico-iyer-the-half-known-life-book-review-travel
"In 1974, when Pico Iyer was a teenager, he traveled to India, where his father was meeting with the Dalai Lama. There the boy and the most exalted monk in Buddhism began a friendship that has deepened over nearly half a century. This friendship is not narrowly built around Buddhism. Iyer’s father was an Indian philosopher and political theorist who moved his family to California, where he joined a think tank and started teaching at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His mother is a religious scholar. Their son’s education was just as international: Eton, followed by Oxford, then a master’s degree in literature at Harvard. And then, for decades, journalism: 100 articles a year for Time, with more for other top-drawer publications. Books? 15 so far. And four TED talks that have been viewed more than 10 million times. The frequent topic: travel. The subtitle of his memoir, “In Search of Paradise,” evokes “White Lotus.” Iyer seeks the exact opposite. “The pursuit of happiness,” he writes, “made deepest sense in context of the Buddhist principle that suffering is the first truth of existence.” It follows that the desire for paradise isn’t a solution to our problems. It is the problem: “What kind of paradise can ever be found in a world of unceasing conflict — and does the search for it not simply aggravate our differences?” Clearly, this is not like any other travel book you’ve read.
And then there’s traveling with the Dalai Lama. Iyer was by his side for every hour of his working day on ten trips to Japan in twelve years. The Dalai Lama, he reports, “had no interest in wishful or romantic notions… true to the example of what he called his “big boss,” the Buddha, he always seemed to see himself as a doctor of the mind.” Asked in a public lecture what to do after you’ve been disappointed in a worthy dream, “the Dalai Lama looked at the questioner with great warmth and said, ‘Wrong dream!’”
It’s in the final chapters that Iyer delivers the book’s gold. Many of us see life through screens, reducing fellow humans to two dimensions. The half known life — the phrase comes from Herman Melville — is where so many of our possibilities lie: “everything half known, from love to faith to wonder and terror, that determines the course of our lives….Everything in life that we can’t begin to make sense of… that’s what opens the door to a sense of something beyond us, and a useful humility….We can never begin to guess what will happen next. The world is always more complex than our ideas of it.”

War… Hold up, do we really need a warning for this one? Dunno, but however, watch out for slightly disturbing and kinda…disgusting imagery, trypophobic patterns, as well as ‘necrotic’ designs I made while having funky fever bc o h m y g o d do I get a little crazier every new quarantine day (and at this point it’s coming to be an usual thing for me, big sad). However, most are made no other than for the sole sake of satire, so y’know, no need to get your underwear in a twist

Friday Night Funkin’ BoyFriend’s Hood – Jazz Mum Concept [XI]
EDIT 26/10/2023: Updated the drawing with a rescanned, more clean version (yipee text is readable now :D)
So yeah, though I originally used the concept from MizanPloz‘s mod for BF’s mom in BFs’H (basically the same stuff but she knows how to play saxo), on the later run I decided to withdraw that idea the moment I started to ‘rewrite’ BF’sH as an alternate timeline from the main FNF canon, and bring up something of my own, which, by the way, slightly relates back to the original prototype I had in mind for BF’s mom, who was supposed to be a rowdy, ghetto-ish woman who banged a male ghost in order to have BF (please don’t ask me to explain how in the Kentucky fried fuck is that even logically possible because I have no clue myself, my brain was doing funny little flips back then –and yes that was a reference to the funny green hoodie masked man)
…And overall, this was the final result: A trucker woman that likes to play jazz on her sax, either smooth, rock or whatever, I’m no saxophone expert. Also, she’s a raptors and dinosaurs lover, bet you 5 bucks she’ll flip if she stumbles across Minus Pico (no wonder why she used to wear dino-like caps during her young adulthood)
She’s quite absent though, but she tries to keep up with his husband and kids by sending letters and calling up at any chance she gets to do so, and you can also bet those same 5 bucks BF is the first one to have a happiness overdrive when he hears her voice on the phone speaker.
Oh yeah and she can drive bussies too; and considering she lives in an ‘unusual’ hood (to say the least) you can imagine the sort of shit she has to prepare for during her shifts (hence why that sketch in the right up corner exists)
And yeah, she and McBleep (her husband and BF’s dad in this AT/AU) didn’t like each other that much during their young adulthoods, but I’ll tell the story about it in a later post, just you wait
Also, that circular thingy hanging on her neck isn’t a necklace, it’s a locker with plenty of family photos (yeah it might be small but once you open it you’ll see it’s literally a mini album inside). Plus, the tattoos she has on her arms and chest actually represent certain things about her. The one on her chest is related to her own family tree plus her husband and children; the one on her left arm refers to her profession as a truck and bus driver (she likes the vroom vroom) and the one on her right arm relates to her passion for sax music.
And BTW, something I forgot to mention in the previous post- in BF’sH, BF has this funny thing on him that he’s capable of imitate any sort of alarm, siren and even bugle, including truck ones…also his snore sounds like a bike roaring, though this one came off more explicitly during his teenhood, you have no idea the amount of times Broddy lost his shit by confusing his snorts with an actual bike going off…or being stolen even (let’s be real though, he kinda dum)
And I guess that’s about it
