Remember how Temperance “monogamy is stupid” “marriage treats women as property” “heteronormativity is a harmful social construct” “it takes a village” Brennan got a house in the suburbs, had 1.5 kids, got married in a catholic ceremony, and generally got absorbed by Standard Tv Mom-Wife?

Good news, the writers of Bones have reached out and need us to write how this would have actually played out in queer non-standard ways. What actually happened?

My suggestions:

They don’t get married because their love is more than a state-recognized business partnership OR it is actually Brennan’s idea very early on, she makes a courthouse date last minute so they can get tax benefits. She does not wear a white dress, thank you very much.

Brennan keeps her apartment. She needs her alone time sometimes, and it’s hard for Booth to not take that personally. He’s the type to insist they sleep in the same bed even if he can’t sleep because she snores too much. It takes time to feel secure enough and recognize she’s not rejecting him when she needs to be alone. It makes times when they’re together that much more special.

Jared, Padme, Rus, Amy and the girls are way more present. It’s less a focus on the B&B household and more on the supportive network of everyone taking care of each other and each others kids. Same goes for Ange, Hodgins, and Michael-Vincent, who are always trading off whose house they’re staying at.

They take in foster kids, which is more important to both of them than needing to have a genetic connection. They both know what it’s like to need some love after being abandoned by their families. Maybe they even take in Jared’s kid, if things with him go south.

Parker’s gay. He comes out to Brennan first because he’s scared his dad is going to freak out, what with the whole Catholic thing. Brennan, who has no filter even on her good days, is confused and immediately outs Booth as being bisexual. Happy family ending where everyone gets a kinder sort of masculinity than the show allows.

When Brennan needs a break, or has moral scruples with how her own evidence is manipulated to incarcerate innocent people, she takes on projects that better suit her moral priorities. She joins efforts working on the American and Canadian boarding schools, the Magdalene Laundries and other similar mass burial sites. Booth is initially uncomfortable but then becomes emphatically supportive. The Church he believes in should never have done these things, so it’s his moral duty as a good Catholic to seek justice for those that the church wronged.

Similarly, Booth and some old buddies start asking some questions, poking and prodding the right people with the right kind of concerns. They end up putting together an effort to investigate American and ally war crimes in Afghanistan. Brennan is the perfect person to lead the research effort, and it’s excellent work for her students. Similar to the Church, I think Booth’s pride in the military can go hand-in-hand with trying to right it’s wrongs and hold it to a higher standard.

As far as the monogamy thing goes, I think it would be complicated to get there, but not impossible. It would take a long time for Booth to feel secure enough in their relationship to even consider it. I think it’s relatively easy for him to accept that Brennan and Angela have A Thing. I think, with some tweaks, there’s a future where, when Hannah comes through town, they all have fun together.

I realize that I didn’t specify it in the first part of Dr. Seraph story, but he actually never got thrown in jail! Also, in my head, this world has cartoon superhero logic, so no one can recognize Dr. Seraph when he is not in his crazy scientist attire. So in this situation I imagine Vincent being the one recognizing the hero, either it’s because he had stalked them before or their identity is widely known. Despite that, your idea has so much potential for funny and awkward moments, I love it!

He had lost count on how long he had been waiting. 40 minutes? One hour? He didn’t really care anymore. Compared to his criminal life, waiting in line at the DMV was a pleasant breeze. Thinking of the breeze, he had luckily brought his white cardigan, which now protected him from the morning cold.

His fingers mindlessly ran over the golden feathers embroidered on the sleeves as he stared at some rocks on the ground, lost in thought.

“Excuse me?”

A voice called out to him. Pulled from his reverie, Vincent turned his head while answering.

“Y-yes?”

That’s when he was met with you. The love of his life hero who has been fighting him and his boss for years. There you were, in your civilian clothes, waiting in the same line as him!

OH SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT. WHAT ARE THEY DOING HERE? DID THEY RECOGNIZE ME? AAAAAAAAAAH!

Many more obscenities were silently screamed in his mind as he stared at you, his face quickly turning red as a tomato. He was so absorbed by his internal panic that he didn’t even register what you had told him. You were surely warning him to not make any sudden moves and to put his hands up.

“I’m s-so sorry, b-but I didn’t quite catch what you said…”

“I just wanted to tell you that I really like your cardigan, the embroidery on the sleeves are so cute.” Your eyes darted away from him and he swore your face got a little flushed as you repeated yourself.

Was he hallucinating? Did the years of working with toxic chemicals finally affected his brain? He stood there, his mouth agape. If you hadn't noticed how red the man was before, you surely did notice now.

“I love your sweatpants!” He blurted out.

There was an awkward silence for a few milliseconds, as Vincent realized the words that had flown out of his mouth, “N-Not em everyone can pull them off…”

“Really?” You chuckle gently, “I’m glad you think so… Actually when I saw your cute outfit I got a little self conscious about my “no effort day” fit.”

“What?! But you always look good no matter what you wea— I mean, I’m sure you do… not that I would know eh eh…”

Wow, he was really making it worse for himself wasn’t he? At that moment, he wanted to sink into the ground and disappear… Now that he thought about it, he should try to create something that allows him to do that.

After some more chatting, you shook his hand and excused yourself for bothering him. He told you not to be sorry and that he was happy he got to talk to you, for no particular reason of course.

As Vincent continued to wait for his turn to come up, he opened and closed his fist. He mentally noted to scrape off the bit of your DNA that was left on his palm, back at his laboratory, as a souvenir.

Body type: Twink. He’s fairly lean, and agile. He doesn’t look physically imposing but is actually stronger than he looks, as he has Gorilla arm cyberware installed that he can rely on instead of his own strength when the need arises.

Skills: He’s a skilled netrunner and sniper, preferring to keep a distance.

Personality: When on the clock he tries to be professional and carry out his client’s requests perfectly, desiring nothing but a flawless review of his performance… but has a hard time ignoring his moral compass which can compromise his resolve. He’s often naively optimistic, and gets hit twice as hard by the curveballs of Night City. He fears rejection and wants to trust people. If he doesn’t like someone or feels lied to he’ll become quite snappy, short fused leading to impulsive trigger happy responses.

He enjoys teasing and joking around to spark reactions out of people he likes and can be quite a brat. He’s very gentle and soft with animals and kids.

B A C K S T O R Y : : .

Pre-2077 History: His parents were both Japanese corpo that migrated to Night City by Arasaka’s request. V was born and raised in Night City as a nepo baby being fast tracked into a future with the company with private tutoring. His parents had high expectations and were abusive in their intensity. In public they’d carry an image of being perfectly normal loving parents making V doubt their abuse, but the moment he was anything other than perfect they’d retract any love. They’d always put their career first before him, which meant they’d often not come home for sometimes up to months at a time. Causing V to grow up highly independent and desperate for approval.

V spent a lot of time alone and often ended up picking fights with strangers on the streets if he felt injustice was being enacted.

One day he saw a kid a few years older than him getting bothered by some gang members and V stepped in, demanding they leave the kid alone. Ultimately V was powerless to stop them at that age without any cyberware to compensate so they beat V instead. 🥲

However, the kid was grateful for having been stood up for and introduced himself as Jackie. They quickly bonded and over time became best friends.

Jackie became protective of the younger scrawny teen and they’d often hangout at his Mama’s house. (Although V had invited Jackie over to his parent’s place several times, it was a lot less lived in and Jackie found it unsettling.)

Jackie’s mother, Mama Welles noticed the signs of neglect in V and her concern for the kid grew each time she saw the kid.

At one point V’s parents stopped coming home altogether. He didn’t know when or why or if they were even still alive, and Mama Welles offered V to live with them until they came home. As far as V knows, they never did, after sometime his access to the apartment was no longer valid and learnt his parents had apparently stopped paying the rent.

Overtime Mama Welles became like a mother to him and he saw Jackie like an older brother. V mellowed out over the years and became very well put together. He was constantly trying to improve his skills and work hard, aiming to get into Arasaka one day to find what happened to his parents, and if they needed it, to save them and maybe they’d finally approve of his efforts.

He did a lot of self reflecting and realised he was trans (he was assigned female at birth) He first came out to Jackie who was very supportive and would let him borrow his clothes to let him explore his gender identity. The clothes dwarfed V, but he appreciated it and felt more at home in his body until we would get his own attire.

Soon after he came out to Mama Welles who also immediately accepted him and he permanently left the closet as a man thereafter.

Jackie joined the Valentinos to help bring in money for the family and V would occasionally accompany him (although not being a Valentino himself) on small jobs and Jackie would quietly split the earnings. V continued studying hard and in his free time outside around the small jobs in Heywood V and Jackie did together.

Steadily V saved up for his top surgery, meanwhile Jackie started dating a girl called Misty who told him she knew a guy who had experience with doing it and was reliable. Which is how the two boys met Viktor. Shortly after turning 18, V got his top surgery done by Vik and he became the only ripperdoc that the two trusted. Vik adored the two youths and over time mentally began to adopt them.

Vik and Jackie had a lot of common interests and would often watch boxing games together. Whilst V was typically much quieter and shy. Vik could tell that V was very intelligent and emotionally mature and appreciated both of them equally and knew they were a good team together.

Jackie quit the Valentinos after a job went badly and struck it out to become a merc instead.

V’s hard work paid off and passed Arasaka entrance exams and was offered a job. Jackie was anxious to see V take the job, knowing how cutthroat the industry was but ultimately he respected V’s choice and supported him.

With the job came a place of his own and he moved out to live independently. He worked there until he was 23 and the events of the game began…

Game Prologue Chapter: Working at Arasaka gave him severe anxiety, he’d give it his everything and work to the bone looking for approval. The job was extremely fickle and he knew one mistake could cost him everything he’d achieved.

His boss of the department, Jenkins noticed his efforts and would solicit sexual favours from him. V, desperate for approval and fearful of the consequences of saying no, gave in. Over time V gained feelings for Jenkins and came to care about him, ignoring the glaring red flags. Others in the office would secretly snidely refer to V as “Jenkin’s boy.” Seeing that V got special treatment.

V honed himself into a loyal dog that when asked to jump would ask how high. He finally began to feel like he was getting the recognition for his efforts he’d always craved. He didn’t mind the dirty jobs Jenkins would send him on, spying, stealing, killing. Nothing was off the table. He didn’t care that he was being used and was a dirty secret for Jenkins and nothing more. He felt seen.

V would tell Jackie everything, and Jackie grew increasingly concerned for V’s well being. V stubbornly ignored Jackie’s well intended concerns and swore he knew what he was doing. (And besides, it’s not like he had the choice to say no even if he wanted to.)

Eventually Icarus flew too close to the sun when a large data leak spiralled out of control aboard; Jenkins’ temper rose and V was unable to please him. Jenkins demanded V kill off Abernathy, another high ranking member of Arasaka, to clear the path for Jenkins’ promotion. And for the first time V hesitated.

Previously he’d never questioned who he was sent to kill, it was easier not to, just blindly trusting Jenkins. But this time, attacking a target within Arasaka? It was treason. He knew it was bad but what could he do about it? He’d have to decide if he was more loyal to Jenkins or Arasaka. His feelings for Jenkins clouded his judgement.

He met up at Lizzie’s Bar with the only person he knew he could trust, Jackie, to ask him to take on this mission with him. V couldn’t bear the thought of Jenkin’s rejection. Jackie could also see it was a bad mission. But before they could agree to take it on together, Abernathy’s unit stormed the bar to take V out having been ratted out from within Arasaka.

V was miraculously spared his life but everything he had built for himself was seised. V despaired believing Jenkins resented him. He never got to achieve anything he’d set out to in Arasaka. He lost everything. But Jackie assured him this was the best thing that could have happened to him and he was free to start fresh.

Blah blah blah events of the game unfold as per usual 🙌 V rebuilds, becomes a merc with Jackie, temporarily moved in with him again until he saved up for his own apartment again. Ends up with a pet cat, an iguana, and befriending a rockerboy terrorist from 50 years ago (Johnny Silverhand) in his head that’s slowly killing him. 🎉 (and down the line ends up dating said rockerboy’s former bandmate, Kerry Eurodyne!)

After getting married to all three, you were trying to create a family.

At first, Bo was so excited that you wanted a child. He lifted you up and spun you around, kissing you all over. He loved the idea of having a family and kids running around the house and yard. Growing a pack was a life long dream!

Then you asked Vincent, and he didn't act like his twin. He was hesitant with the idea of being a father, and it scared him. What if his children couldn't look at him with the same love as he has for them? What if he ended up like Trudy? Then he saw your smile and you telling him about different baby names, and his heart warmed to the idea. Much like his brother, having a little pack of his own and watch them grow... it didn't sound that bad.

Finally, you asked Lester, and he was blushy and gushy. He thought you were joking, but when you told him about your dream of having a lot of kids, he was over the moon. He thought he would be a good father, be something his own parents weren't. He liked the idea of teaching his kids how to hunt and fish, to survive in the forest without needing help.

At the end, the Sinclair Pack was all ready to become a larger family, and you were nothing but excited.

You've been trying for months on end with the brothers. Every month, week, day; whenever they were in heat, when you felt the mood with one of them, when they felt the mood with you; taking pain, pleasure, both, soft, rough, a bit of everything; quick or long-- you tried. You didn't want to tell them that you'll be here because you were afraid of what they might do, and you don't think they needed to be here for this. If it's nothing, then you shouldn't worry, right? You have to keep trying over and over until... you just want a family, your own little pack.

The sound of the door clicking snapped your thoughts, and you looked up hopeful as the female doctor entered. "Hello, y/n," she said sweetly. "I'm Dr. Haley. How are you doing today?" IN her hands, she had a large paper packet and a clipboard. You knew what was going to be said before her words came, and your words started to crumble.

And so it begins.

Bo's leg never stopped bouncing as he looked at the clock. He saw the truck coming back from town, but you didn't stop. He could smell something off as the truck kicked up dust in the wind, the breeze carrying your scent down hill to the open garage doors. He knew Vincent could smell it because he poked his head up from the basement tunnel, signing at him in questions and wonders.

"I don't know, Vince," Bo answered looking back at the house. "I didn't do anythin' to her... she just came back like this." He looked back at Vincent, who had his arms crossed, nodding up to the house. Bo closed his eyes and lowered his head. "Text Les and tell 'im t'get 'ere. I got a feelin' 'is is an everyone problem."

And he wasn't wrong as he got closer to the house.

He paused in his tracks as he looked at the home, and his stomach started to turn as he started to smell pain mixed with anxiety.

He could hear your muffled cried from upstairs from outside, making him and Vincent freeze in there tracks. They looked at each other then sprinted the last block towards the house, your sobs burning like sharp whiskey in the back of the throat. On the other side of town, they heard Lester's truck speeding up as if he could hear you from the other end. Bo didn't like this smell as he bolted up the porch steps growing stronger, and he nearly ripped the door off its hinges, again.

Vincent looked around the living room, hearing Lester's truck dying in the drive and his boots crunching the gravel. Bo's head snapped up at the steps and started towards your room. Lester's heart hammered in his chest as he listened to your cries, and it tore the Beta apart. He felt lost and confused, but that all changed when fear took over. Did he do something to upset you? Is this his fault? It didn't help that the twins were thinking the same thing, nervous and fear mixing together in an unholy concoction.

The brothers' boots echoed up the steps like an army storming through the house, Lester taking the lead somehow. If you weren't crying, you would yell at them to take their boots off at the door, but you hugged Bo's pillow as you wore Lester's gator shirt and Vincent's sweatpants.

"Darlin'?" Lester asked, not bothering to knock as he entered the room. "Why are you crying? What's wrong? What happened--?"

Bo pipped up from behind. "Who do we gotta kill? Who's gonna die?"

You tied to look up at them but looked back at Bo's pillow. His kids would've loved pillow fights--

You let out a loud sob, causing your Alphas to cringe at the noise, the Beta's eyes falling over you.

This was breaking their hearts as they filed in one by one, each taking their place on the bed: Lester near your stomach on the left, Vincent on your left, and Bo on your right. Bo takes the pillow from you and tossed it behind him. He pulled you up to lay against his chest. Lester sat up and wiped your tears away, his heart breaking with every fat teat that touched his fingers. Vincent smoothed your hair and arm, bringing you hand up to his waxed lips. The urge to protect you from these three grew louder and larger, their desire to keep you from the horrors outside the town.

What happened, sunshine? Vincent signed against your skin. What went wrong?

You got your breathing back to normal, your hand finding Vincent's once more. You swallowed hard and let out a shaky breath. "I went to town today and got strawberries."

"That's good," Bo said, his fingers brushing through your hair. He tried his best to remain calm, the worse running through his head.

"And I went to the gynecologist's afterwards," you squeezed Vincent's hand.

Lester's eyes blinked, his head going empty. "The what?" he asked, lifting his brow.

Bo answered for you. "It's where a woman doctor looks over the female body."

It didn't hit Lester at first, and he blinked a couple times. He's so cute when his mind has to go over words again. After a while, it hits him. "Oh! Oh, okay, okay." He looks at you. "Go on."

The scent of mixture anxiety and fear circled and hit the three like a freight train. Vincent leaned against your neck and nuzzled against the nook, trying to mask that smell with his. The smile burned his eyes and they started to water. The smell soaked through his mask, making his skin burn, but he didn't move. He wanted you to be comforted as his little human, his little muse.

Bo followed Vincent's lead, kissing your hair then up and down your right arm, taking in the smell as he tried to mask it with his own. "Tell us... what happened? Y/n, sweetheart," Bo kisses your ring finger, the promise ring he gifted you as a mark of his, "tell me."

You take a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I can't have kids."

"No one's ready for kids," Bo answered. "Kids just kinda happen."

"No, Bo." You felt yourself chocking up again. "I can't have kids. I physically can't have them." You looked in his eyes as you felt tears falling again. "I'm infertile. Something's-something's wrong with me." You sobbed out the last part as you hugged him tightly, breaking all of their hearts. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry that-that I'm use-useless now-!"

Lester hugged your side tightly as the twins covered you in their arms, all three holding you close. "Ya ain't useless," Lester said as he tried not to cry with you. "Who told ya 'at? Who said 'at?" When he heard you cry, he started crying, too. He wished he could take your pain from you.

"Ain't useless," Bo conformed, kissing your hair. "Never been useless. Far from it, y/n--"

"But-but you and Vince and Les want-want a family--"

"You are our family," Bo stopped your words hard. "You've been our family since you got here!" He felt Vincent tighten his arms around his brother and you, burying his face into your shirt. "We don't need kids to be one."

Lester nodded in agreement. "Yeah!" He wipes his tears away. "You are family. We-we don't need a kid to make-make one."

Vincent makes a noise in the back of his throat, his arms running over your other arm to your shoulder. 'You are far from useless, my muse. You are the glue to this little pack.' He leans close to you and kisses your cheek with is real lips, tasting salty tears. 'We love you. I love you!'

Bo kisses your neck then your lips. "It's okay, y/n. It'll be okay."

"But, you wanted--"

"I want you to be happy," he answered for himself. "I want to care fer ya an' love ya an' protect ya. Shit," he gestured around him, "we all want that."

Lester took your hands and kissed over your knuckles. "An' if ya want a family wit' kids an' all, shot," he flashed you a bright, loving smile, "I don' mind adoptin'!"

'Your heart makes this a family, a pack,' Vincent planted another kiss over your skin. 'Not children.'

Bo repeated his words against your skin, "You are our family," he planted a kiss to make the words stick. "Nothin' an' no one will change that. Fertile or not." He placed your hair behind your ear. "You're my home."

"Our home." Lester kissed your knuckles again.

'Our pack,' Vincent signed as he leaned against your neck.

As the sunsets over the dead town, you were safe between your alphas and beta, there arms holding you close as they talked over anything and everything. You don't know what they saw in you or why they wanted you around, but you're thankful for them. They were your family, and they were yours.

Here are some of the most striking examples of Berry's legacy — from the cover versions of his songs that overshadowed the original to the recognized classics of cinematic soundtracks.

Chuck Berry's Legacy

The Beatles played a cover of this Chuck song back in their early shows in Hamburg. And at the end of 1964, it was decided to record a studio version of the song for the record "Beatles for Sale" (on which there was room for several more covers). The lead vocals here are performed by John Lennon, whose vocals sounded much louder and more dynamic than Berry's voice. In 1976, this song was included in The Beatles' Best Things album of the same name.

An eight-minute reworking of Chakov's "Beethoven" appeared on the 1973 album ELO 2, including an intro from the legendary Fifth Symphony, which organically transformed into the original motif of "Roll Over Beethoven". Subsequently, this song became one of the business cards of E.L.O. and often became the final one at their performances.

The movie "Back to the Future" gave this song a second life. Johnny B. Goode was performed by Marty McFly and The Starlighters at the school ball on November 12, 1955. Marty called this song a classic and told the band to play along with him in a bluesy way. Neither the band nor the audience had ever heard anything like this before, and Marvin Berry (the same musician who injured his arm when saving Marty from the trunk) called his cousin Chuck, letting him listen to the song on the phone, calling it a "new sound" (a vivid example of a "time loop"). In the end, everyone present was shocked by Marty's stage behavior to such an extent that some even covered their ears.

In fact, the Johnny B. Goode song for the film was performed by Mark Campbell. The guitar solo was played by Tim May.

1994 brought this song to the peak of popularity again — the reason for this was Quentin Tarantino's film "Pulp Fiction". It was to the sounds of Chuck Berry's composition, released 30 years earlier, that Vincent Vega and Mia Wallace, performed by John Travolta and Uma Thurman, danced twist at the dance competition. Tarantino said that words like "Pierre" and "Mademoiselle" gave this scene the unique charm of France in the 50s

It was Chuck Berry who introduced this element of the stage behavior of guitarists. Even as a child, he entertained his relatives with similar movements, and in 1956, at a concert in New York, he first presented the "duck walk" to the general public. As he later told Rolling Stone in an interview, he was just trying to distract the audience's attention from his rumpled silk suit. The audience liked it and Chuck continued to do it over and over again.

Chuck's most famous follower in the "duck" business is Angus Young, the lead guitarist of AC/DC.

Like, Bo just starts calling Vincent names (like the mean truck man he is >:[) and Vincent is just taking it, then the reader steps between the two twins and just starts BURNING Bo with every insult they have.

What are some of your favorite horror movies? And which ones you like to recommend to people?

Holy shit! This question makes me so happy but also so…wow, how do I organize this! How can I narrow them down…there’s just so many horror movies I definitely love and would recommend. The different sub-genres within horror and what’s the best to watch from those was considered, but that leaves out some solid horror movies that don’t fit into any particular sub-genre. So I kind of went chronologically, throughout the years…I might be wrong in some of these years, so please forgive me for that. I’ll also definitely have left off a lot of really good ones, so excuse the incompleteness of the list.

So, as mentioned on my other post, gotta start back in the roaring 20’s, when horror really kind of hit the mainstream, with 1922’s Nosferatu. It’s going to seem really boring if you go in expecting a gore-fest like what we get now, but I think it’s a really stand up film for it’s time, with a great atmosphere and feel to it.

All of the classic Universal monster film’s from the 30’s should be checked out. They’re classics for a reason and the horror genre really owes a lot to these early films.

As far as I know, the original that came out then is impossible to find, but you can find versions of 1932’s Freaks and it’s definitely worth checking out. That movie kind of fucked me up, though a lot of the horror in it was the mass exploitation of people who dared to differ from the norm.

As far as I know, the 30’s version of Sweeney Todd was the first time it was on film? Definitely worth checking out, comparing and contrasting to the Johnny Depp version of it. Both are decent in their own ways (though, of course, the stage renditions are the best).

To me, Son of Frankenstein, while considered a horror at the time, was the first horror comedy. At least, I very much have that feel watching it.

While there were a lot of 40’s horror films, the only one I still remember and enjoy is the Abbott and Costello film I recommended in the previous post.

In my opinion, the 50’s had a lot of really great horror films. Watching them now, they do feel campy and kind of B-grade, but I really do think that is part of the appeal to them and it’s also fun to see some of the tropes in horror that are still used to this day. So from that era, I recommend Donovan’s Brain, I Was a Teenage Werewolf, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, anything with Vincent Price, and Teenagers from Outer Space.

1960 brought us Psycho. Any horror fan should check out Psycho – I consider it a classic and a must watch. I also think that might have been the year The Little Shop of Horrors first came out on film. The original wasn’t bad, though I recommend the later version with Rick Moranis. It had a really great feel to it and was a little more fun than the original.

From the rest of the 60’s…oh, you guys know this one was going to be on here. Rosemary’s Baby, natch. Night of the Living Dead is also one that was obviously going to show up on this list because again – should be considered must-watch for any horror movie lover. Romero and horror – goes hand in hand and especially in terms of zombie tropes…it set up a lot of those. For a surprise from the 60’s though, I do recommend Blood and Black Lace.

The 70’s were great for horror. I definitely recommend the 70’s Wicker Man. If you start to watch Wicker Man and you see Nicolas Cage….press back or do whatever you need to do to turn it off. Then go watch the Wicker Man without Nicolas Cage. You will thank me for that tidbit of advice. Tales from the Crypt, The Exorcist, Jaws, Alien, the OG Carrie, The Omen, the OG The Hills Have Eyes, the OG Suspiria, Dawn of the Dead, I Spit on Your Grave, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Black Christmas, and The Amityville Horror were all fantastic movies from that decade. Plus, the Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchises started in this decade and I really recommend those franchises as a whole. Did both of them have some terrible sequels/prequels/remakes? Oh boy, did they! But overall, the franchises are solid. Young Frankenstein is a solid horror comedy and while technically a miniseries, Salem’s Lot from that time is still something I rewatch at least every year or two.

The 80’s brought Freddy fucking Krueger and boy, do I recommend watching the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. The Chucky franchise also started at that time and I love the really kind of campy, horror comedy feel to that franchise, with some genuinely scary scenes. The Evil Dead is a classic for a reason and definitely a must watch. Just watch every movie in the franchise because at the worst, they’re hilarious, at their best they’re so, so GOOD. Pretty sure Poltergeist is also from the 80’s but if I’m wrong, it’s late 70’s. I love The Lost Boys, at least the original one.  Motel Hell was weird as fuck but pretty decent horror comedy? My favourite horror comedy from the 80’s though has to be April Fool’s Day – definitely one I recommend everyone see at least once. Fright Night from the 80’s was also really good and I actually also enjoy the remake with Colin Farrell. The 80’s also brought a lot of Stephen King adaptions and where I love his writing, I watched a lot of them – Christine, Cujo, Silver Bullet,  Children of the Corn (the OG one is my favourite, though the remake wasn’t absolutely fucking horrific), Pet Sematary, Creepshow…notice The Shining is missing? It’s because I actually don’t really like the movie. I found the book more genuinely scary. One that does have to be mentioned but which I will personally NEVER watch again – Cannibal Holocaust. Don’t eat going into it and be aware that it gets very, VERY violent. If you consider Gremlins a horror movie, it’s on there. I just say it’s a classic Christmas movie you should definitely check out around the season. I watch it every Christmas season.

From the 90’s, starting with a miniseries but the version of IT that still scares me the most? The 90’s miniseries with Tim Curry. It will legit make me cry but that’s because clowns freak me out royally.  But legit, the 90’s and the 00’s was the era I really was just getting into horror, so I struggle to figure out what is me viewing it with a lot of nostalgia and love and what is actually good so I’m going bullet points for these decades:

Se7en – even non-horror fans know THAT scene from this movie, let’s be real, and I think that  makes it have to be on this list.

Village of the Damned

From Dusk Till Dawn

The first Scream came out this decade, as did a couple of the others, but please watch all the franchise except the newest ones. I watched them, not as great as the original run but 1-4…fucking amazing and probably my favourite horror franchise personally.
