Mainly aimed towards marauders fans bc I see a lot of people being really aggressive about it there but:

💫 Not liking fanon characterisation doesn't make you better than the people who do 💫

Someone changing a character to fit how they enjoy seeing them isn't a crime bc it's a fictional character

Making a character queer in canon content isn't ruining them and it doesn't make the writing cheap or stupid

You can address harmful stereotypes without being a bitch and shutting down entire perceptions of the character because it isn't usually the older writers and artists creating flawed presentations and it's certainly not all of them, you're just being dramatic and trying to demonise an exploration of a character that you don't agree with.

Reminder that a lot of fandom creators especially in the marauders and ofmd fandoms are minors. Young teenagers writing in their school break don't need to be screamed at and called homophobes or racists for making accidentally including a stereotype into the character, they may appreciate being warned about the misconceptions so they can correct them...but berating creators and saying they're all fucking everything up and destroying everything is not helpful; it's mean and they aren't going to take your advice, they're just never going to write again. If you don't like the characterisation just fucking ignore it like the rest of us.

Decided to start watching teen wolf because why not, and I'm literally only 3 episodes in and I already suspect that Scott is probably going to be my favorite, and I know that there's a thriving shipping scene for this show so I took a quick peak at the top ships on ao3 and it......Derek and Stilies...? I think that once I get over his kinda cringey early 2010's humor I could grow to like Stilies, but Derek? To me he just seems like every other sad bad boy in every twilight/Buffy-inspired teen show from the 2000's - 2010's, there is 0 chance I'll actually like him, so it's no surprise really that he seems to be fairly popular.

Will is not a fragile little twink, his size difference with Hannibal is not that big and he's not weak and skinny, he was a police officer and literally killed a man with his own hands, he's a very strong and dangerous man

Will was only a victim in season 1 because of his encephalitis and people seem to only be able to remember that. After the middle os season 2 they both have the same amount of power over each other, they're equals and the show said that multiple times. Even after everything Hannibal did to him, Will was never afraid of him, he never feared his own safety around Hannibal

you guys are all secretly (or not) trying to guess how Will would fuck but I can actually tell you through Hugh's chart, cause we've stablished that actors are casted in roles that represent their energetic configurations yada yada so.

6. Later, you see through a window them having dinner together, it's a sweet moment.

7. Hannibal pulls out a bone saw

8. Hannibal and his bone saw are interrupted and him and twink boy are captured. You also the mystery guest where they went, he says a pig farm in America??

9. Later, at the farm, you see Hannibal carrying Will, who is unconscious, bridal style through the snow all the way home.

10. At home, Hannibal tends to Wills wounds, dresses him in comfy clothes and puts him in bed, and waits by his side for him to wake up

11. Twink boy rejects him

12. Hannibal spends the next 6hrs crying outside his house before getting arrested by the police

13. This is the last time you hear off of them

I’m in no way intending to be rude but.. does anyone else find some of the fan art in the Hannibal NBC fandom to be a little uncomfy? I won’t say any names, this isn’t a call out post. But the drawings of Hannibal as a super jacked out dude with a popped button shirt, a very obvious bulge, and Will is super skinny, drowned in Hannibal’s massive shirt, and he is, as one might say, “twink-ified”?

I don’t have a problem with smutty art (though some of it is cringe, I’m not here to yuck somebody’s yum) the problem I have with it is that there are real people behind the character’s that are being drawn, like Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy, if I was an actor and saw that i would feel a little violated 😅

And I saw a pic of the artist showing Mads Mikkelsen the suggestive fan-art of him as Hannibal they had made, and I couldn’t help but cringe on mad’s behalf. I think these types of things should stay on the internet.. or maybe in your personal private folder, because the NBC character ‘Hannibal’ literally has Mads Mikkelsen’s face, so when I look at extremely smutty fan art of Hannibal.. technically it’s Mads Mikkelsen because he plays the character, right?that’s what makes me uncomfy. And also the poor way that the character’s are being portrayed, Will Graham would never act like that lol! (Looking at you, twink Will Graham)

i just think we can become so absorbed or fixated on a character, project our fantasies onto it, upload it for everyone to see, and forget that their are real people behind these characters. I think it’s a little dehumanising.

Though this is just my personal opinion, my opinion is not fact nor law, nor do I claim it to be truth. absolutely no hate to anybody! If you wanna keep drawing smutty art of character’s, then that’s none of my business.

The reason for this post is because I want to see if I’m the only person who feels this way? And also to remind people to be more.. mindful of what they put out on the internet? Because as I’ve said ten times before already, there are real people behind these character’s, such as the actors who play them.

This is something I’ve only begun thinking about recently, like two days ago haha, does any one else feel the same way?
