Hetalia characters with dishes typical for their country - part 1 (part 2 here)
Tumblr media
Italy: Maritozzo (cream bread) -> This Roman milk bread is said to be dated back to times of Ancient Rome. The baked good is filled with generous amounts of whipped cream and somtimes decorated with fruit or pistachio. Young man also used it in courtship by hiding jewellery or a ring in the filling.
Tumblr media
Germany: Breze(l) mit Schokolade (chocolate dipped pretzel) -> A baked pastry with sweet or salty toppings, best known for its distinctive symetrical, knotted shape. Dipped in chocolate the soft pretzel is a popular snack at funfairs and markets, but there are also small, crispy pretzels that are to be eaten like crisps/chips.
Tumblr media
Japan: 和菓子 (wagashi; plant based sweet) -> Originally meaning "Japanese confectionery" the term now refers to a traditional dessert made from plant based ingredients. It's artful shapes are influenced by season, nature, or even poetry.
Tumblr media
France: Quiche Lorraine -> A savoury tarte traditionally made with a filling of eggs, heavy cream, ham, and bacon. Today cheese is often added, though it is controversial among professionals. (In the drawing there seems to be leek added too which is not mentioned in the original recipe either.)
Tumblr media
England: Scotch Egg -> Supposedly inspired by the Indian nargisi koftas, this dish consists of a hard-boiled or soft-boiled egg wrapped in pork (sausage meat) which is coated in breadcrumbs and then baked or deep-fried. Often served in pubs and a popular cold snack as well.
Tumblr media
America: Hamburger -> A popular fastfood consisting of a patty (traditionally made from ground beef) between two halfs of a sliced bun. There are countless variations made with all kinds of additional ingredients and condiments, including expensive high-end versions with edible goldflakes.
Tumblr media
Russia: пирожки́ (Pirozhki; stuffed bread) -> This popular street food is a baked good made from yeast-dough is typically boat-shaped and filled sweet or savory with meat, vegetables, fruit, jam or tvorog (an Eastern European fermented milk product with a consistency similar to curd cheese)
Tumblr media
China: 小籠包 / 小笼包 (Xiaolongbao; steamed bun) -> Steamed dumplings made from leavened or unleavened dough traditionally filled with minced pork, traditionally eaten for breakfast. The top of the dumpling is closed by folding and pinching it. Authentical dumplings have at least 14 folds, preferably 18.

The temperature dipped slightly this week. It has since gone up, but I used the weather as an excuse to make soup twice. First, this lasagna soup that is super easy and delicious and reminds me of all the lasagna-flavored Hamburger Helper I ate growing up. It calls for ground beef, but I used ground Italian sausage instead. It’s delicious and easier than the recipe as written because then you can omit seasonings.
Tonight I made this Thai-inspired chicken meatball soup, and it was super tasty. Riv loved the meatballs, and he is picky, so I will definitely make it again. I omitted the jalapeños and cilantro because: children. I’m sure they make it even more delicious.

Anyway! Always celebrate dinner wins.

Well, Seymour, I made it, despite your directions.
Ah, Superintendent Chalmers, Welcome! I hope you're prepared for an unforgettable luncheon!
Myeh.
[GASP] Oh ye gods, my roast is ruined! But what if... I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking? Ho ho ho ho ho, delightfully devilish, Seymour!
Ah-
Skinner with his crazy explanations,
The superintendent's gonna need his medication,
When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations,
There'll be trouble in town tonight!
SEYMOUR!
Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise! Care to join me?
Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour?
Uhh, oh! That isn't smoke. It's steam. Steam from the steamed clams we're having! Mmm... steamed clams!
Phew!
Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouth watering hamburgers!
I thought we were having steamed clams.
D'oh, no. I said steamed hams! That's what I call hamburgers!
You call hamburgers "steamed hams"?
Yes! It's a regional dialect.
Uh-huh. Eh, what region?
Uhh, upstate New York?
Really? Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams".
Oh, not in Utica, no. It's an Albany expression.
I see. You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger.
Ho ho ho ho, no, patented Skinner burgers. Old family recipe.
For steamed hams?
Yes.
Yeah, so you call them "steamed hams" despite the fact they are obviously grilled.
Ye- uh- you know, the- one thing I should- excuse me for one second.
Of course.
[YAWN] Well, that was wonderful. A good time was had by all, I'm pooped.
Yes, I should be- Good Lord, what is happening in there!?
Aurora borealis?
Ah- aurora borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?!
Yes!
May I see it?
No.
Seymour, the house is on fire!
No, mother, it's just the northern lights!
Well, Seymour, you are an odd fellow, but I must say, you steam a good ham.
Help! Help!

Good news! You're about to save a lot of money! This Copycat Popeye's Chicken is so easy you'll never go back to fast food again
Shopping list
If you don't have a Popeye's Chicken in your neck of the woods then you don't understand the enormity of posting this recipe. Popeye's makes fried chicken like no other — spicy, smoky, crispy perfection. They have their own special sauce to dip it in but my kids like honey mustard sauce or bbq the best.
Or Ranch. You can't go wrong with Ranch.
Boneless chicken breast or thighs
Louisiana hot sauce
Buttermilk
Peanut oil (if deep frying)
Chipotle powder
All-purpose flour
Smoked paprika
Eggs
Salt
Instructions
There are three ways to make these:
In a deep fryer
In a cast iron skillet
In an air fryer
To me the very best flavor is when they're done in a deep fryer but I think it's good to have options, right?
No matter which way you make these chicken strips you'll start the same. Always marinate for 30 minutes in the buttermilk mixture but not more than an hour.
Remove a chicken bread strip from the marinade and dredge in flour.
Dip in the egg mixture.
Dredge with flour again. Set aside.
Bring oil to 360F.
Add the chicken a little at a time without crowding.
Fry until golden.
Remove to a paper towel covered plate. Keep warm.
Serve hot.
Add your favorite dipping sauce.

National Guacamole Day
Learn to make guacamole at home, and discover some of the many versatile uses for this tasty invention, from a simple dip to a sandwich spread and more.
Whether that bright green, creamy and chunky treat is piled on top of a tortilla chip or used as a garnish for a Mexican entree, guacamole is a delicious way to truly enhance a snack or a meal!
History of National Guacamole Day
While the day itself doesn’t exactly seem to have any particularly poetic origin, National Guacamole Day is a terrific excuse to indulge in the tastiest of dips!
However, guacamole itself seems to have its origins with the Aztec people group at some time before the 16th century. Early guacamole recipes only included mashed avocado and it became very popular due to the excellent health benefits of the avocado. Adding in the tomatoes and onions came later, which was a natural development since those are also native to the Americas. Eventually the lime juice was added, which originated in the Middle East but made its way west with the arrival of Christopher Columbus.
The word, guacamole, originally came from the word “āhuacamolli” which translates literally to mean “avocado sauce”.
Not only is it a great addition to a savoury spread, it’s also good for you! This is because “guac” is made from avocados, which are nutrient dense and packed with healthy fats that help the body lower bad cholesterol, all of which contributes to having a good ol’ time and living as long as possible.
How to Celebrate National Guacamole Day
Celebrating this day is easy and can be filled with fun as well as delicious flavors! Enjoy the day with some of these ideas:
Eat Guacamole
Even if there’s no particular reason, other than it being an awesome day, go ahead and celebrate National Guacamole Day by picking up some at the store! Don’t forget to grab something to put it on, such as a bag of tortilla chips, a selection of veggie sticks (carrots, celery or cucumbers), or a piece of tasty toast. Eat it with french fries, slather it on a quesadilla or use it as a filling or garnish for tacos. The options for eating guacamole are virtually endless!
Learn to Make Guacamole at Home
Freshly made guacamole is the most delicious part of this day! All it takes is buying some ripe avocados and making it from scratch at home. Blend the avocado, season with salt and it’s done!
Of course it might be even tastier to add a bit of flavor to it, such as lemon or lime juice for some zesty citrus notes. Or perhaps some tomato, garlic and onion to expand the palette, the choice is completely personal.
Find Creative Ways to Eat Guacamole
Many people associate guacamole only with corn tortilla chips. But there’s so much more to it than that! For those who are trying to get a bit healthier and forego the chips, or for those who are just looking for a bit of adventure, guacamole has a lot of creative ways it can be used for snacks and meals. In addition to using it as a dip, try out these ideas for guacamole:
Spread It On a Sandwich. Guacamole makes a great sandwich condiment. Simply pile it on top of a hamburger or chicken burger for a tasty treat. Guac is also tasty when used as a healthy addition to a grilled cheese sandwich.
Top a Pizza With It. That’s right! A boring pizza can be made delicious with guacamole. Some people like to combine it with Buffalo sauce and chicken as well.
Stuff Mushrooms with It. Keep it vegetarian by filling hollowed out mushrooms with guacamole and topping with a spicy Buffalo sauce. Yum!
Make It Into a Salad. Guacamole can make a healthy and delicious base for a salad. Create a Greek fusion by adding feta cheese, or turn it a bit sweet by piling it up with chunks of watermelon or peaches.
Have a National Guacamole Day Party
Invite friends and family over for a little get together with the intention of celebrating National Guacamole Day. Give a nod to guacamole’s origins by decorating and dressing up in costumes that channel Central American culture.
Of course, the table of refreshments will need to center around the guest of honor–guacamole! But it can be filled with all sorts of other south of the border treats as well. Try offering some tostadas, chips & salsa, taquitos or quesadillas. Toss in some churros or flan for a delicious dessert.
Learn Fun Facts About Avocados
Since they are the main ingredient for guacamole, a fun activity for the day would be to learn a bit of trivia to share with friends or coworkers as National Guacamole Day is celebrated. Try these fun facts to share:
Avocados are a fruit. That’s right, technically guacamole is actually a smashed fruit salad!
Hass Avocados were banned in the US. In an effort to control pest problems, the beloved Hass Avocado was once banned in the United States. From 1914 to 1997, it was illegal to import these delicious fruits. Everyone is much happier now that they are legal again.
The World Record for Guacamole was over 3 tons. Created by a wholesaler in Jalisco, Mexico, this batch of guac took more than 800 people to make it. It contained more than 25,000 avocados, 3,500 tomatoes and 3,000 lemons.
Remember–it’s not necessary to only indulge in this tasty treat on National Guacamole Day. After all, it’s good for you all year round, this is just an extra special reason to enjoy it!

What’s your standard for a good burger?
(Oh my god this is so random 🤣)
I take this question very seriously.
But first.
Fun fact: Did you know that the name "Hamburger" directly refers to the city "Hamburg" in Germany? Indeed, it was German immigrants from Hamburg who brought their recipe of ground meat, onions, and spices to the United States in the 19th century, before the dish became what we know today.
So.
What makes a quality burger and leads me to label it a "beautiful burger":
Bun: an essential element. Preferably a brioche bun. It should neither be dry nor too soft. Your fingers should be able to hold onto it firmly. More beautiful if the surface is shiny and smooth.
Meat: the cornerstone of the recipe. A generous amount is a must. It should be juicy, tender, and slightly rare. The flavor of the meat should dominate in each bite.
Sauce: subtle. Not too heavy. It adds a "twist" to the flavor of the meat but must not overpower it.
Cheddar: creamy and generous. It should never overshadow the taste of the meat.
Onions: fried and crispy. They add a surprising texture to the dish.
Lettuce: it serves to bring freshness to each bite. It should balance the heat and the richness of the rest of the burger. It’s the "landing strip" in the burger experience.
Fries: the ESSENTIAL side dish!!! Without them, a burger isn’t a good burger. Crispy texture on the first bite but tender once on the palate. Best with paprika. They can either be dip fries to catch the sauce or shoestring fries for more presence in the mouth.
This is what makes a "beautiful burger".
I can rate your burger if you send me a picture :)

Small Party Catering NYC: Steps To Plan Perfect Food For The Event
Tumblr media
Planning the food for a small party can be both exciting and daunting. Whether you’re hosting an intimate dinner for friends or a small business gathering, getting the food right is crucial to the success of your event. In a bustling city like New York, where culinary options are as diverse as its population, small party catering NYC service can help you elevate your event and take the stress out of meal planning. Here’s a comprehensive guide to ensure your event’s food is as unforgettable as the occasion itself.
Define Your Event’s Theme and Audience
To begin with the analysis of your menu, it is crucial to determine its theme and the people it is intended for. Is it a black-tie affair or a barbecue? Knowing the tone of the occasion will help you to determine what sort of meal to prepare and how to plate them.
Formal Dinner: When considering food and beverage choices for the event, select appetizers, meals, and sweets that are appropriate for the formal setting. What about gourmet dishes and traditional recipes?
Casual Gathering: Septic conditions of the ambiance are easier to consume for individuals and require simple food and dishes. Appetizers such as those that can be held with the fingers include fingers, small hamburgers, and dips that can be taken in small portions.
Themed Party: If your event adopts a certain theme like Italian or Mexican, then ensure that this is reflected in the kind of foods you have in your event. Food related to the theme of the event enhances the entire experience and also can create a good topic for discussion.
Establish Your Budget
The act of setting a budget is a crucial factor in the planning process of any event, not just food. This will in turn affect the quality and quantity of food to be bought as well as the small party catering NYC service to be hired.
Food and Beverage: This is charged per head and any extra charges that might be put on certain products.
Service: Depending on the kind of catering service you hire, there is the hiring of wait staff or bartenders which will be charged.
Equipment and Rentals: If you want to get more tables or chairs and dishes for serving then all of these should also be considered.
A realistic budget makes you avoid cases of overspending or straining to attain the quality of the materials or services you need.
Choose the Right Catering Service
There is no shortage of small-party catering services in New York City, but choosing the right service provider may be a challenge. Search for a service provider that focuses on the provision of services for small-scale occasions and has customized options. Here’s what to keep in mind:
Experience: Choose those companies, which have experience in serving people in small parties and gatherings.
Menu Flexibility: Make sure the specific products offered may be changed to fit the specifics of your event and your guests’ requirements.
Reviews and References: Look at the rating of the restaurant and requests from the clients for their experience.
A good and professional catering company will sit with the client and help to select the right menu for the event within the set budget.
Plan a Balanced Menu
A diverse clientele means that a restaurant needs to be able to offer a balanced and variety of meals that at least some of them would fit one’s diet preferences. When planning your menu, consider the following:
Appetizers: For appetizers, offering an assortment of foods that any visitor seeks is recommended. Incorporate vegetarian and gluten-free meals in case not all the guests will be able to take some meals.
Main Courses: Make sure to present a variety of main courses recommended for various types of diets. They should comprise barbeque meats, poultry, fish, and veggies.
Side Dishes: Accompany your principal dishes with a variety of side dishes. Something light and fresh that goes well with the meat is preferred by many guests, so fresh salads and baked vegetables will fit the bill, as would potatoes or rice.
Desserts: Desserts are the last course, which means that there is no other way but to pamper your guests with delicious sweets. Added to this, if the reception will be in the evening, you may want to consider mini pastries, some kind of cake, or a dessert table.
Be sure to offer some lighter items alongside heavier ones so that customers can find a good balance if they wish. This means that the guest is able to have a variety of different foods to choose from ensuring a wholesome dining experience.

There’s something to be said and appreciated about a scratch-made meal. But there’s also something wonderfully delicious and maybe a little sinful about opening up a salty packet of pre-mixed seasoning, adding it to some chicken, or brisket, or potatoes, and calling it a day.
I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up, things like onion soup mix or taco seasoning were my mom’s best friend in the kitchen. Easy, convenient and addictively delicious, that simple flavor packet could transform a meal.
What’s the secret to this brisket? Oh, onion soup mix. Wow, this dip is amazing! Oh, onion soup mix. Even recently, my Aunt Lucy made the most delicious roast potatoes. When I asked what her secret was? You guessed it: onion soup mix.
And yeah, I know it’s filled with sodium. But every once in a while, you just crave some pure, indulgent, American comfort food.
Still not convinced? Ok fine, you can make your own mix with a recipe like this. But I still say: Use that lovely, evil little packet once in a while.
Here are some favorite ways to use it:
Passover Brisket from The Pioneer Woman
Coca Cola Brisket from Leite’s Culinary
Roasted Potatoes from Lipton’s Kitchen
French Onion Chicken Drumsticks from Kids Spot
Apricot Baked Chicken from AllRecipes.com
Classic Onion Dip from Best Recipes.com
Onion Kugel
Broccoli Kugel
Onion Soup Hamburgers from Genius Kitchen

HELLO! I was gone for idk how long because I had no more ideas and I've started having a slight Gaz brainrot. . .
ANYWAYS, do you think König would have any weird food combos? Since he loves cooking weird recipes I can only imagine he likes something like pickles with Nuttela or things like that. I'm curious if Rabbit has any too!
Have a great day :)
(Yes I got the courage to no longer be anonymous around here)
Sorry, this took me so long to answer, lots of stuff was going on for me.
Anyway, I had to look up weird food combinations and apparently, chocolate and cheese pizza is a thing... So König would eat that as a dare and then have the audacity to say it's good. And he would go a step further with the pickles and Nutella, this fucking vile beast makes it into a sandwich. It all started purely because he forgot to go food shopping and was starving, so he used what was left in the fridge and cupboard. Now it's his favourite snack.
He's also made peanut butter hamburgers because he found a recipe on Pinterest and decided... Yeah, that looks delicious. Then he looked at Rabbit and asked if he'd make him a peanut butter vegan burger so he could join in on the experiment and Rabbit was like sure.
Rabbit also loves sweet things. One of his favourite comfort snacks is plain cream cheese with strawberry jam on a bagel. He'll also straight up dip strawberries in cream cheese. He's also had the pickles and peanut butter and he liked it. These two men will eat an entire jar of pickles and peanut butter together in one sitting.
Also when he was a kid, Rabbit would eat sugar sandwiches, but that was more because they rarely had enough food in the house. And now as an adult he can't stand it, it brings back too many bad memories. And this isn't a weird food combo, at least I don't think it is, but his favourite lunch is bananas with peanut butter on rice cakes. Or bread if he has no rice cakes. He craves that salty sweetness and that crunch.
(You're always welcome around here bby thank you for sending the asks <3)

Always having food available, but not like the cheap stuff (like ramen and hamburger helper and generic soda) but the good shit (like name brand pizza rolls and meals from scratch that were from like an actual recipe and not whatever we could afford thrown together into something edible and filling (I hated potatoes + whatever meat was cheapest with gravy and a canned veggie) and real snacks like potato chips and dip and oreos and little Debbie snacks).
Having the good towels. Those big, thick, soft ones that dried your whole body and your hair with no problem. And having hand towels, and special bathroom soap.
A car that worked 100%. Not some third or fourth hand used vehicle that had secret tricks, like you always have to have coolant because sometimes it overheats, or that one window that doesn't roll down because it can't come back up, or the car has to be parked on a hill of some sorts because it has to be moving so you can pop the clutch to get it start up.
Being able to order what you actually want when the family goes out to eat, instead of having like a predetermined list based on price and shareability.
New clothes bought from a real store that wasn't a thrift shop. Being able to afford to buy that super cute shirt or dress or skirt you just saw. Being able to have a Style of dress.
Just like.......so many things.

This recipe lets you make Chick-fil-A's famous Original Chicken Sandwich at home. Tender chicken breasts that were soaked in pickle juice, dipped in a spiced flour mixture, and then fried until they were golden brown. It's always a hit when served on a toasted bun with pickles.
Ingredients: 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. 1 cup pickle juice. 1 cup milk. 1 large egg. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 2 tbsp powdered sugar. 1 tsp paprika. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp black pepper. 1/4 tsp garlic powder. 1/4 tsp celery salt. 4 hamburger buns. 4 slices of dill pickle. 2 tbsp butter.
Instructions: Place chicken breasts in a resealable bag and pour pickle juice over them. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. In a shallow dish, whisk together milk and egg. In another shallow dish, mix flour, powdered sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and celery salt. Remove chicken from pickle juice and discard the juice. Dip each chicken breast into the milk mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Toast hamburger buns lightly. Assemble sandwiches by placing a chicken breast on each bun, topped with a slice of pickle.

Fry the coated pickles in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels. In a small bowl, prepare the Burger Bomb Sauce by mixing together mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, pickle relish, minced garlic, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Set aside. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape it into four burger patties. Grill the burger patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, or to your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes, until lightly browned. Assemble the burgers: Place a burger patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and red onion. Drizzle Burger Bomb Sauce over the toppings. Add the crispy fried pickles on top of the sauce, then finish with the top bun halves. Serve hot and enjoy your Game Day Burger with Fried Pickles and Burger Bomb Sauce!
