Hello dear 🥰🤗 I would like to participate in
💠Goddess essence game💠.
Thankyou in advance💖🎀
Hello, thank you so much for participating🤍
Your divine archetype:
❄🐇The embodyment of cycles of nature, from hungry feminine to renewal and fertility 🦢🌱
Your goddesses:
So firstly I want to say that all these goddesses and their archetypes(all of which somehow overlap with most others) are pretty important to you. The archetype I wrote just above was hard to come up with and at first you might not understand what I mean by that or why it was hard to come up with a shortened, specific description, but I hope you will, after reading the explanations. Multiple goddesses I am going to talk about can be easily coorelated to nakshatras that you don't even have but they also fit your overall chart. But beyond anything, trust your own judgement, and feel free to research.
Berchta/Perchta_ Alpine goddess of winter, silent nurturing, hag goddess but also a motherly supporter.
Jyeshta_ your moon (also your atmakaraka) nakshatra is associated with infertility and dryness, but also to protection, courage and eventual victory. In feminines/females, it's the nakshatra of grandmothers and their wisdom.
Berchta has been demonized as a scary entity, especially for children, after Christianity spread in Europe. Despite that image she's still a motherly, protective, feminine presence that used to be recognized as a protector of children specifically.
So Jyeshta does coorelate to winter goddesses but Hasta nakshatra is associated with the feminine in her unresponsive state, not unlike Jyeshta. It represents the cycles of nature, the harvest and the barren land, the interplay between fall, winter and spring, between death and renewal. Also, Berchta's name comes from the birch tree_ an evergreen tree that survives the winter. Evergreens can be coorelated to Jyeshta.
While the whole chart is important, your big three_ sun, moon and ascendant, and their influence are enhanced in your case, all in different ways. The most important placement_ moon is conjunct ketu in the same nakshatra_ Jyeshta. Ketu is also a very significant placement and uniquely so. Together with the moon it represents the comfort zone a person in a chart, which in your case is more specific and amplified. The interesting thing is that you might have a love-hate relationship with that part of yourself, because Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, particularly in Anuradha nakshatra, but Ketu is exalted in Jyeshta.
Your Hasta ascendant determines your chart ruler, which is Mercury(Virgo rising), and in your case it is also in Hasta, which is its exaltation nakshatra.
Your Sun_ the natural atmakaraka(soul significator/planet) is in Purva Phalguni, a Leo nakshatra, which is its natural sign, and at the highest degree, making it your actual atmakaraka.
So all of these placements are enhanced in unique ways.
Going back to Berchta, the themes of winter, cycles of death and rebirth that are tied with her connect to Jyeshta(Jyeshta is in Scorpio, sign of the 8th house of death and transformation) and Hasta.
The nurturing aspect of Berchta and the birch tree association can be coorelated to Purva Phalguni_ a Venusian nakshatra of ease, enjoyment and procreation. Birches and its coorelated rune in Germanic people has long been associated with quiet nurturing and growth, along with feminine pleasure.
You also have Mars in Purva Phalguni with the Sun and they're in your 12th house_ the house of isolation and all things hidden(fitting with the winter, quiet/silent themes), also of dispersion and bed pleasures. You have Venus in Swati, Libra, which enhances the feminine and nurturing aspect. You also have exalted Rahu in Rohini(Taurus) which, again, adds to the feminine and nurturimg, Venusian quality. The fact that it's your Rahu, so it's connected to your Ketu and Moon in Jyeshta makes it an interesting interplay within you, once again emphasizing the hungry and barren/feminine and fertile nature of the feminine and of the nature itself.
A goddess that is widely considered to be similar to her is Holda or Frau Holle. Some say she's her predecessor(that Berchta and her worship came from the existence and worship of Holda). You might like to look into her so I thought I'd mention her.
Sidenote: to clarity, I should state that the nakshatra I would associate with Berchta amd Holda would be Bharani. Berchta's name means "the bearer" and she's said to wear three keys on her belt, likely representing the cycle of birth/death/rebirth or the maiden/mother/crone archetypes of the female. I think that it could also represent the three fates found in many mythologies. You do have a nakshatra that has thematic similarities to Bharani_ Hasta, and another Venusian nakshatra_ Purva Phalguni. Jyeshta shares themes of death and rebirth with it so your chart overall does seem fitting.
Some interesting things about Berchta: she was said to wear her long, black hair in braids on the sides of her head, her gown was said to be long and white. The latter part might be reason why people refer to her as "the white lady" or "the lady in white". Another image of her is the goddess as a crone in a discheveled dress. She was said to be a shapeshifter_ related to Mercury(Jyeshta's lord). She has been described as "goose-footed", also as taking the form of a swan(geese were used as guard dogs in Medieval times, so, she has been recognized as the protector of the wildlife in a sense), called "guardian of beasts", she's associated with:
Birch, holly, flax, mayflower and wild berries.
Geese, swans, mountain goats, crickets, owls and foxes are her animal coorelations. Some include other Alpine animals such as the ibex, weasel, marmot, stork.
She's said to live in the mountains, or in a cottage surrounded by gardens that are a home to lost souls.
She is associated with "the wild hunt"_ a procession of witches, spirits and demons riding through the skies and collecting the souls of the dead.
Anyways, there are other goddesses I should talk about.
Athena_ Greek goddess of wisdom, (military/battle) strategy and architecture.
So this is the goddess that is directly associated with Jyeshta. They share the symbol of the owl. Both are associated with maturity, strategy(especially battle strategies or just tactical warfare in general). Jyeshta is the nakshatra that conquers and closes out the second part of nakshatras representing the civilization.
I should say that Hasta is also associated with feminine smarts in terms of worldly wisdom and even encouragement of females towards independence.
Speaking of Hasta, goddesses often associated with it are Egyptian Isis, and Greek Perspehone. While Hasta is not the whole of your chart it is an important part of it. Just mentioning them to help in case you wanna research.
Cailleach_ Celtic winter goddess from Scotland Ireland and Isle of Man. I won't explain in detail why I chose her anymore but I think you'll understand anyways. She's a veiled(Hasta) hag goddess of winter(Jyeshta). She was said to be Cailleach for only half a year, after that she transformed into Brigid_ a Celtic goddess I associate with Krittika(a nakshatra mostly in Taurus_ Scorpios's opposite sign). You also have that theme of going from winter to renewal and fertility interplay and not only with Scorpio Ketu and Taurus rahu, both of which are exalted. She's also a shapeshifter and protector of wild animals. You should research her for additional info.
One more goddess I'm going to mention is Morgan le Fay along with her another version_ The Morrigan, a triple goddess of war, death, fate, crows and ravens. I have a post specifically about her archetype and how she relates to Mercurial Jyeshta but also the snake yonis in Taurus. Again, research more by yourself if you want to know more.
...
This is it. Turned out longer but I can't help myself when I want to explain😭 I hope this is also nice to read and beautiful to you and not just a collection of facts and analysis.
Please leave a feedback after reading💕

Romanian witches: Muma Padurii
(Note: I unfortunately cannot add the accents needed for the writing of those names since my keyboard is not equiped. So know that there are accents missing)
I originally made a post about one Romanian fairytale character... which turned into a post about two fairytale characters... which became a post about three fairytale characters... So ultimately I decided to split this post into a whole series because it was getting too big. I want to explore with you three characters tied together in Romanian folklore and all present within Romanian fairytales, but each fascinating in their own right. And I want to begin with the first of these ladies... Muma Padurii.
Muma Padurii means "The Forest Mom", or "The Mother of the Forest" (Muma is an archaic form of "mom").
In fairytales, Muma Padurii is an antagonist. She is an embodiment of the wicked witch, or rather of the hag. She is a very old and very ugly woman (so ugly the expression "You look like Muma padurii" is an insult) who lives all alone in a little, dark and scary house in the depths of the woods. She is not a normal woman: she is a witch gifted with various supernatural powers (including shapeshifting), and she is also an ogress who loves to eat children. It is as a children-predator that she usually appears within Romanian fairytales, luring kids to her house to kill and cook them. One of the most famous Muma Padurii fairytales is the Romanian version of "Hansel and Gretel", which mostly differs by A) having the witch named B) the house not being made of candy and C) the genders are reversed (here it is the girl that is to be boiled alive into a soup, while it is the boy that pushes the hag into the oven).
But the thing with Muma Padurii is that, in a similar way to Frau Holle, she is an entity that was "split" between fairytales and legends. There is a Muma Padurii of folktales who is the evil hag I presented above, but there is also a Muma Padurii of beliefs and legends which is quite different and much more neutral.
This Muma Padurii is still an old, ugly, shapeshifting witch - but she is presented as amoral rather than wicked, with a personality mixing a fairy-like mischieviousness and a pure insanity. The name "Muma Padurii" is also very revealing... In the fairytales this name is used in the typical motif of the witch/hag as the "false mother" or "anti-mother", but in the Romanian mythology, this name indicates what Muma Padurii is. She is the Mother of the Forest, as in the spirit of the forest. Her main role, and the reason for her hostility towards humankind, is her function as the guardian of the woods. She still lives in a remote and hidden location - but it is not always a little cabin, it can just be a tree, and it is usually within a virgin-woodland at the heart of the forest, untouched by human hands. She still brews potions - but they are good potions, that she uses to heal injured animals and sick trees. For Muma Padurii always keeps the forest alive. She does attack humans - but only those who destroy the fauna and flora, or who trespass within forbidden areas where only wild things are supposed to be. This was why those that entered the woods were warned to not go too far and to respect what surrounded them: else Muma Padurii would at best scare them away, at worst drive them to insanity with her magic. As such, it was forbidden to pick up certain wild fruits and berries in the forest during certain times of the year - they were for the animals to replenish their strength, and Mama Padurii made sure this rule was followed. In the most extreme cases she would kill the trespassers and devour their corpses like a wild animal - a bogey-version of Muma Padurii that explains her role as a child-eating crone in fairytales...
Muma Padurii is present all across Romania, sometimes in local variations (Padureanca, Muma Huciului), and this explains why there are so many different incarnations of her. Sometimes she is an angry ghost of the woods, a vengeful spirit which can be heard crying among the trees for all the plants that mankind destroyed, and if a house built near the forest isn't carefully locked up at night, she will enter in them at midnight and kill all those inside... Other times she is depicted as a young and beautiful fairy of light, who will be kind and helpful to children but will trick adults into being lost, having their body paralyzed or dying in various ways. This specific idea of the "young faced Muma Padurii" is notably present in another folktale/fairytale, where it is said that the Muma Padurii is a witch that needs to eat human hearts to keep herself young and alive - as such she takes on the appearance of a beautiful woman to lure young men into the woods, but once they are isolated enough she turns into a giant monster and rips their hearts away.
Her link to the forest is highlighted by how she is often said to disguise herself as a tree, to be a part-tree woman, or a hag clothed in moss (she also can appear as a cow, a horse or an ox) ; her function as a "Romanian fairy" is also highlighted by how in various legends she either makes babies sick, or replaces them by changelings (and as such there were several folk-spells and rituals Romanian country-folks used to protect their babies from the Forest-Mom). But mostly Muma Padurii stays an embodiment of the woods in what they have of dangerous and scary. She can be kind and helpful - but only towards the "innocent", animals, plants and (sometimes) children. However she stays an ancient woman of the woods, the mistress of the wild animals, the embodiment of a state of non-civilizations, and as such she is the fright that drives one mad and the savage force that will kill and eat men. And even then, the fauna and flora itself is not always escaping her wrath - some records say that Mama Padurii knows the name of every tree of the forest, but that she can get angry at some and curse them to fall either by the woodsman's axe or by lightning.
The last interesting difference between the fairytale Muma and the legendary Muma is that, while the fairytale Muma is usually a lonely entity, in beliefs Muma Padurii was part of a large family. Sometimes Muma Padurii herself was multiplied into several "Muma" - there was notably a belief about many of them sometimes visiting the cabins of those that lived near the woods, asking to have their hair brushed and cleaned, with a comb and butter (which isn't an easy feat since she had her hair dirty, tangled in snake-like braids and so long it touches the floor). Anyone who agreed to the task and performed it well could receive a wish from the Mother of the Woods - but the rule was that they could only pronounce three words in total as long as she was here, if a fourth was pronounced, she would take your voice and leave you mute. Sometimes Muma Padurii was given a male counterpart of companion called "The Father of the Forests", or the "Woods Papa".
Muma Padurii was also said to have several sons, which were the spirits of the woods and/or of the night (going by names such as Decuseara, Zorila, Murgila, Mamornito or "Midnight"). She is also linked to a set of female forest spirits known as the Fata Padurii (Fata being of course linked to the "fairies", "fées", "fatum" - but here it is to be understood as "The Daughters of the Forest", "The Girls of the Woods, and fittingly they are said to be the daughters of Muma Padurii) ; and to an entity I personaly do not know much about, "Mosul Codruilui" (she is said to be her mother, and "Mosul" means "old woman")
Finally, there was a certain Christianization of the Muma, as some tales started saying her task as a guardian of the forest was given to her by God, and a modern attempt at explaining how she could be such an ambiguous entity, benevolent and malevolent at the same time: most modern storytellers highlight how protective she is of the fauna and flora, and how she was said to wail and cry for the destroyed wood, to explain her "transformation" as her becoming more and more bitter, and angrier and fuller of hate the more humans destroyed her domain, harmed her trees and wounded her "children". A true ecological fable.
Some people point out that Muma Padurii could be a "Romanian equivalent" of the Russian Baba-Yaga which is... not quite exact and not quite true. The two characters seem to derive from a same old "forest mother-goddess" but there are too many differences between Muma Padurii and Baba-Yaga for them to be consideed one and the same. There is however a interesting link between the two, which will be the subject of my next post... about Baba Cloantza.

After @adarkrainbow‘s series of posts on Frau Holle, I thought to post this old piece here! This is from two years ago, when I was inspired by watching Dario Argento‘s „Suspiria“ and his „Three mothers trilogy“. Frau Holle‘s appearance here is based on Heinrich Pröhle‘s „Harzsagen“ around mount Sieh-Dich-Im (Look-Behind) in st. Andreasberg, where she was better known as a boogeyman. The bell appears in some legends about the Frau Holle Lake on the Meißner.

I'm laughing at that post you reblogged about hyper-fixating on your OC. "Unloved by everyone" it says, while we're all here thirsting after any and all versions of Rosalie. You just write her too well (and too hot)!
ahhh, thank you anon :') as always, I am not fishing lmao. the post was less dedicated to That One Little Guy, who has indeed gotten herself a following, so much as some other Little Guys (of the dragon age variety) and then a whole army of other Little Guys from D&D - player characters of campaigns past who are no more, but whom I still think about often, player characters to come... not to mention an entire world of NPCs I've written, only 10% of which my fandom of four (4) players will ever meet.
there is a vast ecosystem of little guys!!! i consider myself very lucky that one of them is beloved!!!!
...TL;DR: Rosalie is the Moo Deng of my zoo of OC hyperfixations.
#asks#anons#we have the actual self-insert OC!#we have the 5000 raven surveillance network spymaster academic! with a god in his basement!#we have the fey noble who made his home into Goth Las Vegas for his vampire girlfriend-now-wife!#we have the dragon bard whose horde is songs he eidetically remembers!#we have the girl who had all her good luck farmed out of her by a hag so has lived a cursed life!#we have the antichrist specific to my DM's two magic goddesses!#the list is endless!

My party being dumbasses in Barovia<3
So I'm not really sure where to start on how the party is doing because we are sort of in the middle of the campaign, and I just recently made this tumblr... SO Here are random keypoints of my party being dumbasses so far:
Named themselves Mistfits
Sold children to cannibals while being suspicious said people were cannibals
Attacked the guards of Vallaki trying to get in (and got baffled when that didn't work out)
Tried to fist fight a goddess
Shipping the goddess Ezra with Tyr
Attacking Rahadin
Trying to outrun a whole city and Anastrasya, then getting surprised when that didn't work out
My one rouge who has had a bittersweet friendship with Ezmerelda: proceeds to tell Ez that she loves her and then sprints off like no tomorrow
Had half the party get knocked unconscious in Old Bonegrinder while the other half lost Ismark in Vallaki
Tried to steal Van Richtens ring
Gave Kazimir the one powerful duskelven heirloom of a dead PC
Attempted to eat a dove...said dove being a druid who was moments away from wildshaping back in their mouth
Lost Ismark in Vallaki (which is now ruled by Watcher)
Oh and last but not least: Teleported their very traumatized mentor who watched his loved ones die in Barovia just to ask if two of them were related
That's it for now<3
#dnd#dnd 5e#d&d#curse of strahd#barovia#strahd von zarovich#rudolph van richten#rahadin#noizalken#sephirocrotire#soraravnsdottir#quarrysmith#nederasunbrush#My party really split up for one half to go to Watcher ruled vallaki and the other to fight hags#the group fighting hags are all unconcious except one#Still can't believe they lost Ismark..they had one job..one..#we are awaiting angsty times between Noi and Ireena after this#oh did I mention the goddess Quarry tried to fistfight was his ex-husband's mother#yeah his ex-husband is a demigod and he didn't know until now lmao

I'll never get tired of the thing where the same word/expression/etc can be translated in both an extremely poetic way and also directly an unceremoniously into what it literally means, and neither one is really incorrect. And the funniest one is when there really is no neutral middle ground translation.
Like someone can point at a specific type of underwater plant that grows in local lakes and start explaining "our folklore features this ancient witch/sea goddess who lives in bodies of water, and there's a legend that she comes out on full moon's nights to gather this plant to make her salad :)" and you're like holy shit that's cool.
And then you ask someone else what the local name of this plant translates to, and they say "wet hag lettuce".

I hope that having the Mighty Nein around helps the cast help each other with the stagnant parts of Bell’s Hells character arcs.
The Hells are not good at communicating with each other about their faults. Enter Jester, Veth, and Caduceus, who absolutely will call people out on shit without shame or malice.
The Hells have a narrow view of religion. Here’s Yasha, whose god helped her break away from an apocalyptic cult; Caduceus, who was raised in a religious household and likes helping people even when they don’t share his faith; Fjord, who found peace and self-acceptance with guidance from a goddess who asks so little of him; Jester, who somehow has cleric powers from her fey best friend whom she also carries around as her weasel sometimes; and Beau, who doesn’t worship Ioun outright, but still thinks she’s not bad and seeks out a connection at times.
The Hells don’t much care about other people when they talk about what the world should be like. Here’s Caleb, who wanted to turn back time, then got Wish and could do it literally any day he pleased, but has accepted that in order to change from the boy who was willing to kill his parents, he has to be the man that won’t break the world to bring them back. Beau accepted that people can be flawed in how they love, but she couldn’t let that decide whether she or anyone else is worth love or protection; her whole job is about trying to help the people of the Empire when systems don’t care about them. Fjord handed over an eye of Ukotoa to save Jester’s life, and then immediately got the Nein back together to defeat Uk’otoa rather than let other people suffer the consequences for his choice.
The Hells were sympathetic to the All-Minds-Burn and only really balked at the Weave Mind because there was a controlling group at the top instead of a regular hive mind. Here’s the team that destroyed Cognouza because it turns out hive minds are a great way for despots to directly control a lot of people and use them like resources. Yasha and Caleb also have profound experience with mind control, conditioning, and memory wiping.
The Hells have some serious identity issues that haven’t been addressed because there’s just no time. (Ashton was an aasimar turned into a genasi; Laudna was treated like a Vex voodoo doll by a wizard who hates Vex; Fearne was conceived and sought specifically to be an exaltant vessel for Predathos; Imogen was hidden to avoid that.) Veth was turned into a goblin by a hag, was racist against goblins for years, eventually realized that her racism came from self-hatred for traits she shared with a specific goblin tribe, and got turned back into a halfling thanks to the dedication of her friends. Fjord wrestled with determining who he was before realizing he had to choose, and that didn’t mean there was a right or wrong choice; just that he couldn’t be someone else.
Like, the Nein would be great for some targeted discussion of these points if the Hells let their judgmental bullshit shine through at any point. It’s just a question of whether (a) the cast want to and put in the effort to do that, and (b) how much time they have to spare for those conversations.

hiya! i was wondering if you have a post on how to create a god/deity for your story? thanks!
Writing Deities
What Type of God?
The form and characteristics of your deity characters will depend highly on the overall worldbuilding and mood of your story. Here are some common deity “types”:
Human-like gods who make their own share of mistakes, are tempted by desires (think of Greek/Roman Gods)
“God” as a formless, omnipotent force of the universe that directs people’s fates
An omnipotent God vs, Many gods in charge of one element or thing
Gods who command large spheres of elements (like sea, fire, war, etc.) vs. God of petty things (e.g. the God of morning coffee)
The appearance of a God will reflect what the people of that culture look up to. They can resemble an animal, have almost monster-like features or just look human more or less.
The Implications of Immortality
A god would generally be immortal, and this would be a major difference between your superheroes and a god. They cannot die and therefore are free from the fear of death, which is the most powerful motivator for our heroes.
This means that you’ll need to assign a flaw so that you can kick your deity characters’ butts. Often, this comes from the very fact that gods are immortal.
A tragic backstory of the god losing a human they cared about
A god who wants to die
A god who was kind and compassionate, but grew irritable and tired after seeing eons of human stupidity.
A god who regrets creating the world
Set up limits of their power. Gods cannot invade each other’s territory or they cannot bring back people from the dead. Or they aren’t allowed to roam in modern clothing, and your god happens to hate armor.
In essence, deity characters exist to question the reader’s belief about an aspect of life. Gods are often personifications of abstract concepts and through them you can convey a message about what you think is important.
For example, a Love Goddess may be a shriveled hag while her daughter, the Goddess of Passion, may be a standard beauty. This immediately conveys the message that a pleasing appearance is no substantial factor of true love.
A God’s “Personality”
The most important part of a god’s personality is going to be their attitude towards humans, since the purpose of a god is to command over and protect lives other than theirs.
How does the god feel about being assigned a “job” at birth? Or did they choose to be a god (any regrets)?
Generally, a god’s personality would be linked to the thing they command. The god of the sea may be capricious but surprisingly open-minded; the god of trees may be generous but stubborn, etc.
You can:
Summarize the god’s motto in a single sentence. It can be something philosophical or even comical, depending on the mood of your story. (e.g. “Love is cruel,” “Donuts are always right.”)
What kind of humans the god would like the most vs. hate the most
In general, are they compassionate/loving or sadistic/pessimistic?
