So there is this person who has the same "brain-species" as me - and I only know a few besides them with that "brain-species", and so far, I think none of us are anything except asexual, and also this person happens to be exactly like an aroace character of mine, and also seems to act as if the only option to my extreme and hormonal emotions, is for them to be platonic (which is true, but they act like it's the only option), and they're implied to KNOW I love their body SO MUCH, in a platonic way (it has their personality, it looks pretty, I wanna cuddle it), and people normally don't believe I'm apothiaroace - not even other apothiaces for example - and the character they're exactly like, doesn't KNOW he's aroace and/or that there's a word for it, and the person seems more distant from their co-workers than the rest are from each other, and is also implied to do the platonic equivalent of thirst-traps for me, and doesn't react to how "weird" I am, nor the pride flag in the window, but nah man, I can't assume or guess, that they're aroace, or call them my apothiaroace icon, because that's a random real 30 year old who I haven't asked, and I hope people understand why that frustrates the shit out of me - then again, I can't handle the thought of them being anything other than "wholesome" - also,
Is it normal that we have almost the same body (besides maybe weight, muscle-amount and them being obviously a bigger person), and almost same body-language, and I'm under 25 and still seemingly have a while to go, through puberty, body-wise, so like, we had the almost same body, then puberty updated mine, and then we have THE same body, except those minor possible differences mentioned? Like, I don't even normally LOOK at these things, but I'm talking: curves (well, lack thereof), curve-placement, size of features, body-shape (already had that before though), shoulder-width, and more? Like, did puberty seriously SOMEHOW mold me to look more like THEM - or like, maybe our body-genes/development or whatever, just happens to be in a way that'd make me look exactly like THEM when I'd get older? Well, I fear some might comment on the fact that my body looks like that of a 30 year old that cis people would call a man without a doubt in their mind, but as I said, I LOVE their body, and theirs, makes me see the beauty in MINE (which doesn't reflect me when it comes to the fact that it's female, but otherwise DOES, but that doesn't mean I like it), and that makes me really happy.
Just in general though, they make me like traits of mine - and I could never like my body-hair for long, for example, even though I tried, and made it my mission, and saw positivity videos, and otherwise just wanted to try and do it by myself, like the emotionally independent person that people wanted me to be ... and after long absence in which I though they'd be gone forever, and 3 days of being back, this person made me love my body-hair, which is a love that hasn't disappeared since, and I didn't even THINK of it, for that entire time - they had nothing to do with it!
I know I've probably already posted this before, but like, what is my life?

Got started on my International Asexuality Day post a bit too late. I'll post it today and go back and add pictures tomorrow (update: pictures and alt text added! Cue Todd Chavez-style "Hooray!") These are some of my favorite fictional aces, canonical and otherwise:
Tumblr media
The Doctor (Doctor Who)
While we can’t ignore the factor that the Doctor is 1000+ years old and an alien, or the BBC’s old “no hanky-panky in the TARDIS” rule from the classic series, the Doctor is still one of my favorite aspec headcanons. I love that their romantic orientation and gray-to-ace-ness can vary a little with each regeneration, and I adore how much weight is given to the Doctor’s friendships.  The relationships between the Doctor and their companions are so always so strong, always take pride of place. In fact, if I ever have a platonic partner, I hope our relationship is a lot like the Doctor’s with Donna!
Tumblr media
Varys (Game of Thrones)
Varys is notable for being one of the few canonical aces on this list that I didn’t have to seek out.  With most shows that confirm their asexual character’s identity onscreen, I’ve watched specifically because I heard it had an ace character, but with Varys, I was just watching an ordinary episode and he came out.  While it’s a brief scene, it’s a good one.  It handily addresses a few myths about aceness (if he’s not into men, he must be into women, “everybody is interested in something,” etc.) emphasizes that Varys being asexual predates his becoming a eunuch, and importantly, establishes that Varys 100% likes being the way he is.
Tumblr media
Jughead Jones (Jughead)
I’m beyond thrilled that such an iconic, longstanding character has identified as asexual, and that it actually fits his 75+-year comic history.  More than that, I love that Jughead is a smart, funny hero who’s perfectly happy being ace—there’s only room in his heart for burgers, and that’s the way he likes it.  I also appreciate Jughead for being as flirting-illiterate as I am and, although I have issues with the arc overall, for giving me my first story about an ace trying to figure out how to turn down a date without hurting his friend’s feelings.
Tumblr media
Todd Chavez (BoJack Horseman)
For other LGBTQ folks, stories about characters realizing their queerness, struggling to accept it within themselves, and slowly starting to come out are old-hat clichés, but for asexual characters, that narrative is still largely unexplored.  Todd is the first ace character I encountered who has a storyline figuring out his sexuality.  Even if other queer characters don’t need any more of these narratives, aces do—it was so affecting to watch someone on TV go through the same thing I did.
Tumblr media
Voodoo Dunacci (Sirens)
Though she’s a relatively small character on the show, Voodo makes a big impact as an asexual character.  She’s unapologetically a romantic ace with no “hey, wait a minute!” moment as to how her romantic orientation reconciles with her asexuality.  Thanks to Brian’s curiosity/ignorance about aceness, we also get some real Ace 101 moments, like our triangle symbol, that pretty much never gets play in mainstream media.
Tumblr media
Raphael Santiago (Shadowhunters)
When an asexual-coded character is in an ace/allo relationship, they and their partner can run into some issues when addressing the idea of intimacy: because they don’t have words to describe who they are, it’s difficult for them to talk about what they need.  Luckily, the show is overt about Raphael’s identity, and he has no problem explaining to Izzy that he’s not interested in sex (and that, like Varys, he’s always been that way—it had nothing to do with becoming a vampire.)  I like that he’s so comfortable in discussing it, and I love how his attraction to Izzy is so plainly romantic but not sexual; it’s beautiful to see.
Tumblr media
Alice Johnson (Let’s Talk about Love)
Alice, my beloved! When I read Let’s Talk about Love, my overwhelming reaction was, “Can you have a crush on a book?”, and a lot of that is down to this utterly lovable character. I like that she falls head-over-heels for Takumi in such an asexual way, and I like that, as powerful as those feelings are, her close friendships are still just as important to her. Special shoutout to her being biromantic—most of the folks on this list are either aro or heteroromantic, and I love seeing more variation!
Tumblr media
Krel Tarron (3Below)
Aroace-coded king (in waiting)! Krel is an alien, but that has no bearing on his orientation—both Aja and Varvatos have no issues with dating humans, while Krel couldn’t be less interested in the whole venture. I’ll love him forever for, “Ugh, dating! While you all mash faces together, I’m going to break the laws of physics!” Iconic.
Tumblr media
Elijah (Big Mouth)
As an ace who was also raised in an evangelical Christian background under purity culture, I really appreciate Elijah as a character. He’s introduced on the show as a kid who’s super into church youth group, but over the course of season 6, we (along with him) slowly realize that he’s not “resisting the temptation” of sex, he’s just not interested in it. A couple episodes before the reveal, I started to suspect he was ace and was really happy to learn I was right! One moment that really hit me is when Elijah looks around the middle school where it seems like everyone is obsessed with sex and just sighs, “What am I even doing on the show?”
Tumblr media
Frenchie (Our Flag Means Death)
Okay, so there’s actually nothing concrete I can say about Frenchie. There’s never a moment in the show where he brings up sex at all, where he’s confused by flirting, or where other members of the crew are wondering who, if anyone, he’s attracted to. But his vibes are just impeccably aroace. I can’t explain it, but if you know, you know.
Tumblr media
Sarah “O” Owens (Sex Education)
Certainly not the most lovable character on this list, but a very interesting one. I like that O is kind of conniving and self-serving, and that she hurts others due to her own insecurities. And having an asexual sex therapist is a definite mood—the flashback of O’s “origin story” as a sex therapist is wonderfully done. Also, I appreciate that this is a show that’s introduced two different ace characters (Florence from season 2 being the other) who are in separate storylines in totally different contexts.

@june-doe-event’s June Doe is finally here & with that I made my first entry to the with the pride prompt!! Here are a bunch of ramblings about my headcanons for the choir!! Maybe I’ll do little icons or something in the future but for now I just wanted to write my thoughts in the incoherent mess that is these few paragraphs 😭
Ocean is an asexual lesbian! As someone who only likes women she just radiates those vibes, it takes one to know one, y’know? Anyways with Ocean’s strong need to conform to societal standards I can very much see her as someone who suppresses their sexuality to feel more desirable by society. Girlypop’s got a lot of internalized homophobia she’s working through & is the last member of the choir to come out. The rest of the choir lowkey realizes she’s queer before she does 😭. She’s very “[Woman] is so pretty… but I’m NOT gay guys I’m NOT GAY!!”
The ace part is pretty self explanatory. Throughout the whole musical Ocean is repeatedly disgusted by anything & everything sexual. While it could be argued she does this to keep up her goody-two-shoes, moral persona, the fact that her acting like this only serves to antagonize her from the rest of the choir leads me to believe it’s less of a “Look at how moral I am!! You should vote for me!!” thing & instead a bit more personal. Her putting down Noel, Constance, & Ricky for expressing sexuality most certainly will not get them to vote for her I feel like she’s saying these thing just because that's genuinely how she feels about sex.
I posted this the other day but I’ll add it again here since I wanna make this point “I always found it odd how in Every Story’s Got a Lesson straight A student, miss smarty pants Ocean O’Connell Rosenberg interprets the lesson behind Romeo & Juliet to be “teen sex kills” & not that baseless hatred leads to unnecessary bloodshed. I’m sure it’s just a throwaway joke & doesn’t matter at all.. HOWEVER I will be using this to spread my ace Ocean agenda. No one that smart misinterprets such a simple message like that unless they already view sexual relationships in an inherently negative light.” Big sex-repulsed ace vibes to me.
Noel is canonically a gay man so there’s that. In my mind he’s a cis man but enjoys presenting himself in a fem-leaning lense. Like he definitely would’ve gotten into drag if he had lived & doesn’t mind she/her pronouns despite identifying as a dude. He’d probably get all giddy if you referred to him as Monique. Overall just very comfortable in his identity.
Mischa is THE bicon of all time. I feel like it took him a while to realize that as well but not because of internalized homophobia like Ocean but instead because he just?? never really thought of it as an option?? Mischa’s not homophobic in the slightest but grew up in a country where queerness is typically regarded in a negative light & because of that the thought of him being queer never really crossed his mind. It wasn’t until he met Noel that he was like “Wait… man can actually like man?? Like romantically?? …like actually??! Woah... that’s awesome..”. I also like the idea of Mischa being polyam because he has two hands Goddammit & one’s for Talia & the other is for Noel.
I feel like the entire RtC community collectively agreed on Ricky being trans which is really funny to me /pos. In my mind he’s gender-fluid & uses any pronouns & is usually referred to with he/him due to being masc presenting. I don’t really have any strong opinions on whether he’s transfem or transmasc I just know that he hasn’t got a cis bone in his body lmao. I feel like I tend to gravitate towards transfem since that seems to be the most common headcanon in the fandom but transmasc Ricky has really been starting to grow on me. I like the idea that despite the language barrier he faced & more traditional urban-ness of Uranium City he was able to express himself through transitioning & presenting more masculine. He’s not a trans man but he’s typically more comfortable settling with a masculine identity so it’s the best way he can express himself to a town that’s not understanding of his identity as a genderqueer person. + he was actually played by a transmasc actor once & that’s really cool!! Either way, trans Ricky is so real & I love how creative the fandom is when applying that headcanon to aspects of the musical like with the many interpretations of what Savannah meant to Ricky. Sexuality wise?? He definitely likes women & is either flat out only attracted to women or bi with a heavy female lean.
Jane Doe doesn’t even know her own name let alone her sexuality. But that can’t stop me from giving Penny Lamb headcanons >:]
Despite the fact that I think about Penny the most out of the choir I never really could settle into a set lgbt headcanon for her?? I would love to say that Penny’s a lesbian but Legoland is very complicated with how it portrays her sexuality. Like it comes across that Penny does like men with her remarks on Johnny Moon & is only bullied for being a “lesbian” since this is the 2000s & being homophobic to the weird kids was the norm back then. But also?? Penny is pretty much implied to not even know what a lesbian is?? With her sheltered upbringing in Elysium it’s possible she didn’t even know what the concept of being queer was until she started being bullied at St. Cassian. Like if she didn’t even know being queer was a thing until she was like 15 then I highly doubt she has any sort of grasp on her identity. Like this isn’t your everyday normal comphet, this is… ADVANCED comphet.. + with all the Ride the Cyclone productions that have so many different futures for Penny (or whoever Jane is brought back as) including ones where she takes a husband, outside Legoland sources saying Penny’s not gay, but also the knowledge that Legoland is admittedly dated & if it were to be revised in modern day it would likely make Penny queer or at least leave it ambiguous since it’s more appropriate, I am so endlessly confused. I like lesbian Penny a lot !! I would like for it to be semi-canon but I definitely wouldn’t die on the hill that it is because of the way Legoland is written. Anyways those are my thoughts.
On a more brief note I feel like Penny’s agender but in a really apathetic way. By that I mean she just does not care at all. She doesn’t mind being referred to as a girl, she just doesn’t feel very connected to it. She doesn’t feel really connected to any other identity either, like in regards to gender she feels like she could just take it or leave it lol. She was born female & has such been referred to with feminine terms her whole life so that’s she’s become used to it, but if one day everyone around her inexplicably started referring to her with masculine terms she’d just continue her day like “oh okay that works too I guess.”
Additionally Ezra shares the same feelings surround gender except that he’s accustomed to masculine terms instead. The main difference is that if you asked Penny her pronouns she’d probably be like “Oh I don’t really have a strong preference, thank you!” while Ezra would be like “Gender is a socially constructed scam created by the U.S. government to sell more toys at the McDonald’s. I am above that meandering capitalist propaganda. Do not refer to me.”
& finally Constance I go back & forth from her being the STRONGEST straight ally known to man & her being pansexual. (She does claim to see the gold, the pink, & the blue… coincidence?? I think not… /j.) Either way she definitely threw everyone little parties when they came out with cupcakes decorated as pride flags. She very supportive regardless of if she herself is queer or not. & while I hadn’t thought about this before, my one ace friend brought up that the way she regards sex as just something she needs to get out of the way comes across as ace reminiscent & I’ve been thinking about that a lot. I can def see her as being on the ace spectrum!! To me she doesn’t experience a complete lack of sexual attraction & definitely isn’t sex repulsed like Ocean but falls in the middle of ace & allo. Gray asexual Constance is very real to me.

4 and 5 for the pride themed asks!
Questions from this post! Pride month's almost over now but who cares? Not me!
Gonna answer for my five main characters of Agent Ace bc why not?
4. Is your oc's environment supportive about their identity? How does this impact them?
Generally, yes. I like to imagine that the city of Harmont and the version of Earth it exists on is better than ours in that regard. Individuality is celebrated, in regards to and beyond queerness, and everyone is free to love and identify pretty much whoever and however they want. But that's not to say that it's a flawless society (far from it). When crafting backstories and 'behind the scenes' content, I do imagine that certain characters have had experiences with homophobia, or at least toxicity within the queer community, but it's never the main focus of the story. I guess they're technically headcanons since I haven't written them as words onto paper, but even so, the portrayal of queer characters is prominent and overall positive.
5. How did you figure out your oc's identity?
For the most part it's vibes, but it also depends on the character!
Sophia (she/her) - I knew I wanted Sophia to be on the ace spectrum for two reasons: 1) asexual characters are criminally underrepresented in media and fiction, and 2) it made sense for the direction I was taking with her character. When I started to flesh her out, I started to get the sense that she had little to no interest in sex; she's practical in how she dresses and presents herself, and hates stepping out of her element. However, romantic feelings didn't feel totally out of character for her. She has a partner (Ahren, who is also asexual), and while she's not touchy-feeling and canonically dislikes hugs, she cares for him deeply and would only consider doing anything physical with him (though the most they like to do together is kissing and cuddling). So, I ultimately came to the conclusion that she's not just Agent Ace, but she falls under the category of demisexual!
Janus (he/him) - In the past, I've described him as bisexual, but now I think I would actually call him bicurious. He's only ever pursued relationships with women, but is nevertheless open to the idea of being involved with a man. I've debated back and forth with the idea of writing in a love interest for him in the future, and I think I've since realized it could go either way. It opens a lot of doors for me to choose later on down the road, since he's more uncertain than other characters in terms of the endgame, despite having a more established background.
Harley (she/her) - Harley is bisexual mainly because I myself am bisexual. In my writing I tend to follow the philosophy of 'when in doubt, they're bi,' but for Harley I knew from the beginning that's what I wanted for her. Unlike Janus, however, her first and only real relationship is with another woman, although she's had fleeting interest in men in the past.
Jade (she/her) - When I first started writing about Jade, I knew immediately that she was a lesbian. As a character who slightly-unintentionally takes after multiple IRL friends of mine (most of whom are gay) and as Harley's eventual girlfriend, I had STRONG vibes that she had only ever had eyes for women and had never faltered in that regard. A true icon and an absolute queen in my eyes.
Max (he/him) - Max was the trickiest to figure out. For a while, I couldn't decide how to identify him, and that was how I realized that, as a character, he would probably prefer no labels at all. I guess he would technically qualify as pan in that regard, but I think if you were to ask him about it, he would probably just say 'not straight' and leave it at that. He's also another character that I've thought about giving a love interest; there will likely be some serious tension (most likely gay, the way I'm leaning at the moment), but I haven't decided for or against a relationship.

CHARACTER ABOUTS
Charlotte Morningstar-Magne
She wants to stop the yearly extermination by redeeming the Sinners of Pentagram City and grant them access to heaven. She’s compassionate, naive, and has a love for theatre. However, she isn’t stupid and won’t let others use her just because she’s the princess. I write Charlie is bi/pan and she has both her mother and father’s last names(AKA I really liked her original last name)
Alastor
An overlord of hell known as The Radio Demon. Despite the power he holds, he tones himself down for others who he considers his true friends. He has manners but uses them selectively. He is narcissistic but not reckless-Death date 1933. Alastor is asexual/demi-romantic.
Angel Dust
Selfishly living in the Hazbin Hotel for free, Angel Dust is Hell’s best prostitute. He is reckless, even if it it means screwing someone else over. He can be playful and dangerous, he’s rude, vulgar, and very flirtatious-Death Date 1947. Angel is gay and I will portraying him with DID, he had it in life as well as death. Right now there are two alters, Angel Dust and Anthony. Angel is the Protector/Persecutor. Anthony is the memory holder Vox An overlord of hell and a savvy businessman, owner and CEO of VoxTek and a member of the Vees. Death date is the 1950’s and as a result, has major fucking beef with Alastor.  Vox is bi
Verses
swap AU
where Charlie switches roles with Alastor, Angel will switch with Vaggie
2P,
where the character role is the same but personalities are swapped.
Say You’ll Remember Me?
The hotel is working a little too well, demons are doing the impossible at an impossible rate. Soon, Charlie and the hellborns will be the only ones left in pride. This will also feature redeemed characters.
Human AU
all characters are set in the time they died. There is going to be a modern AU as well for all characters.
Strawberry Al A more pink Alastor who’s less of an asshole outright. This will be an AU where he’s a yandere of sorts. He does in fact mostly mind his business in Cannibal Town and was working on being an Overlord for the power and security behind it but, made a deal with Lilith that fucked him over, he copes as well as he can  Still figuring out the details on this one so it’s in a test phase. The deal with Lilith is a running theory right now and until it is confirmed, it only applies to Strawberry Al

Hi, I'm 30. I didn't expect this post to get the traction that I did, so I'm going to try to be explicitly clear on everything here.
You NEED the help from the majority (in this specific case - big corps like Coca Cola, Xbox, insert other big name companies who change the icon to rainbow and/or put out rainbow merchandise like Target, CVS, and Walmart) to make ANY kind of serious social movement, period.
I have a MPH degree. I have a BA degree. A lot fo that BA, I had to take classes relating to sociology (the study of how society functions). While it is great to ponder the philosophy and everything behind the means of actions, they're ultimately just thoughts at the end of the day. Yes, corps want our money, but for the love of fuck, PRIDE MERCHANDISE BEING DISPLAYED IN STORES DID NOT FUCKING EXIST 10+ YEARS AGO! PERIOD!
"They're using the backs of our labor!" BRO, I AM SEEING FUCKING LESBIAN, ASEXUAL, GAY, BISEXUAL, ETC. MERCHANDISE IN STORES! This sends signals (ESP) to youth and the common man/woman that "Hey, buckle up bitch, queers exist, stop throwing tantrums over a rainbow colored beer, we are still getting your money :'D"
I want to see people squirm with discomfort at seeing all the rainbow colors in stores during PRIDE month. I want them to be forced to face the reality that LGBTQ exist, we aren't going anywhere, and yes, there is a TINY CHANCE that some family member might go "well shit, maybe I should take my kid seriously" and not be kicking their kid out or hurting them just because they're queer.
Be gay, raise awareness, be thankful this shit is here to begin with. EVERY SINGLE MINORITY GROUP needs the help of the majority group (in this case, corps putting forth rainbow merch) to help push their own personal cause. In this case, stop fucking killing our queer kids because "eek gad, religion told me to hate you".
Tumblr media
Like I don't think younger queers realize how God damn monumental it is that stores even have lgbtq merchandise up during pride month.
Yes, many companies don't genuinely give a shit about us. HOWEVER, the fact that I'm seeing transgender, gay, lesbian, etc. MERCHANDISE TO BEGIN WITH, absolutely helps normalize us in society.
10+ years ago, THIS DID NOT EXIST, PERIOD.

Hello!
Just read you had aspec Moon Knight posts you deleted, after reading you were looking for some aspec Moon Knight fics while I was searching your blog for more fics after I read your voicemails fic (it broke my heart in the most delicious way lol).
Anyway, from what I gathered, you were criticized for these posts and I understand why you deleted them. But as an aroace Moon Knight fan as well, I'd love to read a bit about your ideas!
Would you mind sharing, privately if you want? Like sending me an ask or DM'ing. me.
Again, totally understand if you don't want to.
Have a good day!
Hello! I never actually deleted any posts, just the harassing comments on posts. The existence of those comments just proves why I need to leave them up anyway. No aphobia on my blog! 😤
Anyway, idk how far you went back in my posts, but I have a ton of aspec moon knight stuff because the fandom needs more of it, especially the tumblr fandom. (Like, I get it, people think Oscar Isaac is attractive. I don't need to go into the moon knight tag and instantly get bombarded by hundreds of self-insert smut. Even tho that's what tumblr does... sigh) So, I thought I would make as much aspec content as I could to cater to the ppl who don't want smut constantly on their dash lol
Here's a master list of all of my stuff and some of other people's stuff I've found
My stuff:
Layla x the boys headcanons, I was still too scared to explicitly say they were aroace at this point but there is no romance lol
Steven's love language, just a quick headcanon bc I needed to project a bit lol Not explicitly aspec related but I thought I would include it
Touch Adverse Jake Headcaonons, not explicitly aspec related but I thought I would include it. Goes into his unhealthy relationship w Khonshu a bit
Aroace headcanons for the boys:
Demiromantic and demisexual Marc (has sexual content)
aroace Steven
touch adverse/sex repulsed Jake (has sexual content)
Steven and Layla should be in a qpr, It's literally what I just wrote there lol
Layla's lullaby, A fanart I did right when I finished the show
Going on a Queer Platonic Museum Date with Steven Grant, A self insert for aspec ppl
Moon Boy Playlists, Youtube playlists I made for the boys. Not explicitly aspec related but I did try to include at least one aroace song in each of them; some have more than others. (has sexual content, violence, drugs, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and panic attacks. Most of these topics are on Marc's playlist but are on all of them)
Other people's stuff:
Aromantic Moon Knight icons by @embrace-the-laters-gators
Asexual Moon Knight icons by @embrace-the-laters-gators
Gus pride icons by @embrace-the-laters-gators (includes aro/ace flags but has many different options)
Ace Steven icons by @adhd-orion
Perilune by @pokimoko on ao3, "In which Layla and Marc go to a party and share an important talk, Layla and Steven go on a date under the stars, and Layla and Jake go out for breakfast and come to a realization." (This is literally the best moon knight fic i've ever read, i highly recommend this one. All the boys are aspec and layla is an angel)
Dear Fellow Traveler by WastelandWalkin on ao3 (idk if they're on tumblr. if someone knows, pls tell me), "There are four of them now. Jake Lockley is the first to notice this. Jake Lockley is the first to notice most things." (I haven't actually read this one yet so idk if it's any good, but it's got queerplatonic relationship in the tags)
Aroace Jake headcanons by @tiptapricot
Jake and Layla's relationship headcanons by @mockspector
Aroace Jake headcanons by @mockspector
Bonus:

Tumblr media
This month is Pride Month! To celebrate, I though I’d share a collection of LGBTQIA+ biographies, novels, graphic novels, and poems! (I’ve also starred my personal favourites, or book I think everyone should read!) Remember to check trigger warnings before buying a book, and to support LGBTQIA+ and POC authors! Also, I made the header myself! I’m very proud.
Now is also a good time to mention that if you’re an exclusionist, a ‘super straight’, a MAP, or a homophobe/transphobe of any shape or form, I hope you choke on glass. You are not welcome on this blog. Leave, and never interact with me again.

As someone's who's ace, and so beyond done seeing ace and pan discourse on this site, I *love* the change to your icon. I did a double take and- yeah, maybe it is "just" an internet icon- but I still thought, "they did that".
So like, thank you <33333
I'm Panromantic asexual, and one of our followers made a couple in BLM panro/ace icons for me for Pride Month.
Creator tagged in the pinned post.

I had NOTHING. No resources. No representation. NOTHING when I first realized I was asexual. It let to a lot of confusion about my identity when I realized I was ace.
So I was working with AVEN for a while to make resources for new questioning people but with work I don't really have much time for that.
But I'll always try to give representation.

The amount of biphobia in the RWBY fandom is frankly staggering.
Honestly, yeah. I don't go into the main RWBY tags anymore for a number of reasons, including the godawful takes, lots of ableism or just uncomfortable red flags, the intense amount of worship directed to the mains and towards MKEK, the amount of bee shippers when I don't vibe with the bees, and the oversexualization of literally any woman character. But on top of all that, there was a lot of biphobia. Not long into my time in the fandom, I heard both "Blake is a canon lesbian and if you ship her with a man, you're a homophobe," and "Bumbleby is a non-existent ship and fans are just reading into things and then attacking the writers for queerbaiting because they're not doing what they want.' I heard both "I can't believe the writers are pretending Blake isn't straight when we all saw her be attracted to Sun," and "I can't believe people are pretending Blake was ever attracted to Sun when Bumbleby is clearly superior." I saw both "If you read anything into Qrow and Clover or Qrow and James, you're an idiot," and also "Guys, stop talking about your 'straight' Qrow ships, the man is a bi icon."
Yes, I've literally seen people say Blake or Qrow are bi, and then condemn people for shipping them with someone of the opposite sex or even talking about their possible feelings towards people of the opposite sex.
And meanwhile, Yang and Weiss are widely regarded as lesbians and people who headcanon them as anything different are sometimes shamed, while both of them have expressed attraction towards the opposite sex. And meanwhile, many other characters are being assigned 'straight' just because they've flirted with the opposite sex. "James was established as hetero the moment he arrived on screen," for instance, or people acting like Qrow flirting with Winter in V3 means he was definitely straight, or people acting like Ren and Nora couldn't possibly ever date someone of the same sex as them despite breaking up because "why can't we have one straight ship?" (Btw, if I was writing this on my phone, I'd use the vomit emoji to show how I feel about that last one.) Also bi isn't the only other option either. Characters can be asexual or pansexual or aro or demisexual. Characters aren't confined to heterosexual or homosexual, but they're also not confined to heterosexual or homosexual or bisexual. Also, people acting like everyone is cisgendered except the Happy Huntresses just because we've never had it confirmed otherwise is also a thing. Like, there's a number of characters who I could see as trans, non-binary, or genderqueer.
Some people don't even realize that's how they're acting or that's how their wording comes across. And I get that how the story writers present these characters plays a big part in their perception. For example, the first three seasons are written with a heteronormative lens that seemed to portray everyone as straight, and that's the status quo in today's society anyway. It's much easier for people to see Yang as queer than it is for them to think of Nora that way, and it's easier to say Yang has always been a lesbian than it is to admit that the writers likely didn't actually plan the bees from the beginning and are lying about it... Idk, I'm trying to be understanding towards it, while at the same time acknowledging that I do feel like this exclusionary language and 'either straight or homosexual' mentality I've seen has been a bit upsetting. Especially when it's used against people who are just making headcanons, or just shipping something that makes them happy, or are just angry at being queerbaited, and expecting MKEK to follow through on the 'support' they claimed they were giving while they were selling pride merch with Team RWBY plastered on it.
Long post short, I think the mindset of 'if they express attraction towards one gender, they're canonly only attracted to that gender' needs to die. And in the RWBY community specifically, making passive aggressive posts or going into people's comments or ask boxes to tell them they're shipping wrong because they have a different headcanon or want a different ship that doesn't fit the sexuality other people assigned a character... That really needs to die, too.

I don't generally make this kind of thing a habit, but I think if you happen to be on the Crystal RP Discord, aka @crystal-rp-ffxiv, you should probably be aware of this kind of behavior, so here goes.
If you're on Crystal RP and the admin team decides they don't like you, you're going to be living under a microscope while they wait for you to mess up, if not bait you, probably while making up conspiracies about you as well. As for how I know this, I was a moderator for about a week's duration and saw it first-hand.
Unapologetically lengthy post. Receipts in the link above, long version below the cut.
From the first time I looked in the mod chat I knew something was wrong. I read backwards in the channel, thinking I'd acclimate myself and see what kind of rules precedents had been set and that sort of thing. I mostly just found out that they had it out for a particular member (at the time using the name Jericho) for not much reason. They'd spent a troubling amount of time over the past few months watching him and another member like vultures, believing them to be the same person and waiting for them to make some kind of mistake that would justify banning both of them...despite keeping different schedules, having different personalities and typing habits, and visibly being two different people. The admin team had come to the conclusion that Jericho was a troll who wanted to make them look bad, and anything he said or did was scrutinized to a ridiculous degree for evidence that would corroborate their belief.
Except none of the things they believed at all were true: he'd had a minor argument via DM with the head admin Benjimir Thursby's wife, Tessariel Aerlinn, who had made an overly broad statement about anime and Asian culture. Jericho had told her that overgeneralization about 'Asian culture' is potentially racist, and she became extremely angry, saying that because she's Asian, she can't be racist against Asians. After that, it seemed that Jericho was considered fair game for whatever retaliatory actions the two of them could justify.
Even a cursory glance at actual racism in Asia pokes Tessariel's statement entirely full of holes, and having personally read the conversation I didn't see anything actually inaccurate in his statement even if she believed it didn't apply to her. I asked what he had done that would merit such a response, because it felt very disproportionate to anything I'd ever seen him do publicly, and that was what I was told. The exchange via DMs had been screencapped and kept in a channel for evidence, and while I didn't get a copy of it, I did read it, and I said that I thought it sounded awfully one-sided and punitive and would have been much better as an actual conversation. I also expressed that I was concerned how much of the channel had been solely devoted to what was basically a witch hunt, considering that some of the server members had over the course of the past couple of months commented that the admins' behavior towards Jericho seemed biased.
I basically got a pat on the head and told that my opinion was "valued" but wrong. This would happen a lot over the course of the week.
Shit continued to escalate. Their favorite punching bag, who was acutely aware of the grudge by now and probably trying to be nice and discuss something that he thought they could all talk about, brought up some articles that stated that LOTRO might be having a graphical overhaul. This actually ended in him being put into some kind of time-out mute, because "everyone knows those articles are debunked already" despite them still being hosted on reputable games news sites. Back-channel, the admin consensus was that he was in fact trying to bait Benjimir and Tessariel into somehow looking stupid in public, because [paraphrasing] 'he knows how important LOTRO is to them.'
Benjimir in fact went off publicly about how he knows the dev team and they sent him 'personalized swag' for 'being himself' and that everyone should just listen to him because he's right. Someone else made a reasonable request for sources on statements that Benjimir made about the LOTRO improvements not happening, and they immediately became the team's private #2 punching bag.
The whole time I reiterated that this was really uncomfortable and I had serious concerns about the way they were handling Jericho. And as always I received a pat on the head and was told to not worry about it, there were really good reasons for it, really. He was 'bringing down the quality of discourse' on the server somehow. Benjimir decided that the only way he would unmute Jericho is if Jericho talked directly to him, and that Jericho tried to talk to any of the more level-headed members of the team first was taken as obvious evidence that he wanted to evade rules and create problems. I asked when we planned to unmute him, and Tessariel immediately jumped to the conclusion that he had messaged me, which wasn't incorrect but the way she worded it felt highly accusatory and I was beginning to feel that I was also in trouble somehow for not agreeing with the rest of the team.
Things came to a head quickly when I woke up and looked at the mod chat and they were having an animated conversation that started with Benjimir asking if it was 'bad that he was laughing at Jericho' and most of the rest of the team talking about how he was stupid, uninformed, a troll, etc. for the sin of having some misgivings about cryptocurrency, of all the things. One of the mods self-described their behavior as bullying. I said that this was extremely unprofessional and that I thought they should keep conversation to actual moderation matters, and if they had a personal disagreement with a server member they should handle it in a personal venue, not via official server moderation channels.
I was, for the final time, patted on the head, and told that this was not something they would consider, because the moderation team 'needs to be able to vent for their mental health' (never mind that the job was not stressful except for the rest of the team committing worse behavior than the server members) and that maybe I was in fact too sensitive for the job. Benjimir heavily implied that I had become too close to Jericho and was being manipulated, managed to misgender me somehow despite my having used solely male or neutral pronouns the entire time I'd been on the server, and after relating a story in which a couple of years ago a well-liked moderator left after having the same complaints as I did (which he saw nothing at all troubling about), suggested that I should be demoted to babysitting the lore channel.
So I took some time to collect receipts, which are linked at the top of the post, and told him where to shove it.
Since that time, things have actually somehow gotten worse on Crystal RP. Benjimir posted an entire page screed vaguely talking about "rampant negativity" that stated anyone with questions should DM him.
Tumblr media
Upon DMing him with questions, Jericho was banned, the only reason given being that he was a 'poor fit' for the server in some vague way. I was immediately banned afterwards for calling out this decision as being driven by a personal vendetta in the feedback channel and let him know afterwards via DMs in no uncertain terms that I had logged everything I needed and would be building my case (and that he is an asshole). Jericho was reinstated, though I'm not sure what the conditions of his return were as that was after my ban and I didn't ask since I didn't want to stress him out further. Benjimir also reprimanded someone for discussing asexuality, stating in a DM to them that the conversation was somehow ERP related. I called him out on this via DM as well. Tessariel was not much later caught posting my last DMs to Benjimir in an entirely unrelated server, though she didn't include the part after that where I brought up his aphobia (during Pride Month, in a server with a rainbow icon no less). Benjimir for some reason decided to suddenly start following my FC's Tumblr well after our falling-out.
And as of today (6/24), Crystal RP now has seven pages of draconian rules, because it wasn't micromanaged hard enough before or something. Notably, a lot of these rules describe behaviors that they wanted to punish Jericho for but couldn't at the time justify, or that they'd like to punish me for but have nothing they can do to me. Or they exist to justify their own behavior, as now seen in the very beginning of the channel:
Tumblr media
"This approach also provides our volunteers with leeway to act in good faith without the burden befitting a professional occupation."
"So we afford them the means to speak openly, vent, lament, candidly and yes, sometimes crassly and raw about everything and one."
Not only did they behave unprofessionally and shit-talk before, they have now encoded in the rules that this is acceptable and even good moderator behavior, because they saw someone else do it so it's fine (a lot of this wording is very similar to what I was told when I protested it). So rather than address anything I ever said past or present, Benjimir is choosing to double down and giving himself and his team explicit permission to be shitty, right in the opening paragraphs where you'd have expected a mission statement or at least some sort of welcome.
Which is about all you need to know about that server and its owners, in my estimation. I'd considered not even posting to Tumblr about it, but given that it's only getting worse, I think it should be generally known that this is how you can expect to potentially be treated.

anyway after my last reblog have some ace aroflux carrie headcanons because she’s my comfort character
(this was sent to my friend around halloween for ace week so that’s why some are halloween themed)
and also slight kaylie because i love them (sidenote this is so long but,,,,,i like this a lot so)
so carrie knew she was a lesbian..she knew because of the time she got jealous when julie was talking to her about a like kindergarten crush and carrie immediately went NOPE to those feelings and pushed them down
i feel like she’s aroflux not really demiromantic so like she fluctuates between disinterest in romantic relationships and just not feeling romantically attracted to people becuase haha i really went,,,,,projection
carrie is sex-repulsed and fine with like platonic pda but has to leave the room when people talk in description of their doings (she didn’t really have a word for it she was like that oblivious and then someone in her crew came out to her and was like “i thought you would understand” and then she’s like “oh”
ok so carrie really comes to the fact that she might only like girls when she starts her girl group....her repression period is over and she’s slowly like yeah ok ok yeah i like girls this is a thing ok ok cool and then she meets kayla and HAS to have this girl on her team and wow ok she’s super pretty and nice too (she also conflicts this with her aro-ness because she thinks she’s faking)
shes also aroflux which she always thought was normal since her dad is also arospec and when she searches it up (privately of course you can bet she hasn’t told a soul) she figures out that she’s aroflux and that makes a lot of sense and it’s already common knowledge that nick and her are just platonic and she’s like “dating” because she needs to cover up that she’s aro in case someone wants to try and beat her out with that knowledge (her conflicting feelings about kayla and feeling romantic attraction and then feeling disgust at having a relationship are too much to fathom like...she’s cried multiple times about it)
carrie is very very uncomfy with sexual content and she covers it up with her sharp edges.....people close to her know about this since she’s not out. it’s also very annoying for her to read her mother’s romance novels because wow these people don’t understand the point of a conversation and it actually hurts carrie because she’s always wanted to be close to her mom and this won’t help
the first time carrie went to a pride parade was with julie, flynn, kayla, nick, and the himbos and she was just so happy because she saw so many old, queer couples which gave her so much hope that she would be fine (this is where she makes a move on kayla)
once she’s friends with julie, she makes carrie recognize how she’s handling her identity badly and helps her feel confident in her aroness because she is valid and her identity is valid and carrie will kick anyone’s ass who says otherwise (and she’ll do it in heels)
carrie is 100% no doubt about it the asexual that makes jokes about it....post redemption arc carrie is fucking hilarious in a way only select few (those not being her friends) understand and i stand by this
unrelated but i think carrie would be a mother hen like post redemption arc carrie 100% admonishes the boys for being so reckless and you know for a fact she had water bottles and extra towels and everything and was over prepared for her dance group
when carrie and kayla get together they are the CHAMPIONS of couple outfits like you can take your basic pj and jelly, salt and pepper and leave it at home because kaylie dresses up as characters with gay subtext
“Achilles and Patroclus” that was their first outfit
“Glinda and Elphaba?” been there, done that
“Chad and Ryan?” oh please we’re not dressing up like nick’s dads (but they did)
basically they’re iconic and i love them
and carrie would HATE parties solely because of the way everyone is blatantly showing affection like ~that~ and she DOES HAVE a megaphone and she WILL use it and she hated halloween parties and parties in general despite not going to anyone else’s but her own because of their reputation as shown in the movies until she’s friends with julie again and they help her make sure she’s comfortable
carrie either goes all out for costumes like she’ll dress up as maleficent whom she swears should have won solely because carrie was obsessed with her or she won’t put any effort at all “what are you dressed up as?” “....isn’t it obvious?” “YOURE A CISHET!!” “thank you alex”
carrie and the gang will not hesitate to not give you candy, even going as far as to take away some of your candy if you so much as ALLUDE to the fact that aces and aros aren’t part of the lgbt+ community.....they have no time for you exclusionist bullshit
okay that’s it, in conclusion i love aroace lesbian carrie with my entire soul that’s all
