Au where Masachika survives, but he's in a coma so bad to the point where he will NOT be waking up any time soon. If he ever woke up and saw how Sanemi treated Genya he would be like "Bro, all that talk about how much you love him, and you're sitting here doing anything BUT talk out your problems"

They have plans to pull the plug on masachika in like a week and then the eye incident happens and Masachika wakes up in a cold sweat like

“A boy needs to be big brother’ed”

But then like you said, as sanemi rushes to go see him to explain that he’s the wind Hashira now and his kid brother is in the demon corps masachika is reeling that it’s probably been over two-three years at this point (Sanemi was around 18-19 when he became a Hashira right? Fairly young and recent I think but crazy when you’ve been in a coma.) and then he hears “I tried to blind him out of desperation when he confessed he was eating demons for strength.”

And masachika pushes aside the “eating demons part” because technically that should not be possible because I doubt he knew about prior demon slayers with the ability since he seemed rather focused on living it easy when he wasn’t killing demons rather than studying up on Lore in favor for the TRYING to BLIND your BABY BROTHER part “SANEMI”

So you best bet sanemi gets the fucking ear full of his life from a still halfway dead and probably disoriented man he’s trauma dumping on.

Does masachikas advice work? Prollyyyyy not. Not unless:

“Well if you don’t want him I’ll take him then, cause obviously I need a new fledgling under my wing.”

“Hm.”

But in the other aspect, more angsty side, let’s play with the idea that sanemi is kind of in charge of the pull the plug decision on Masachika and I’m sure he knows like anyone else that slowly rotting away in your body while you lose muscle and color and weight and etc and only being kept alive by machines is no true life.

He’d probably “confess” everything to Masachika as one final farewell, how genya has suddenly reappeared, if sanemi is doing the right thing for genya and Masachika’s lives. What he’ll do next, how he’ll do it. How he’s sorry he couldn’t protect Masachika and really can’t protect Genya either, although he still tries.

And then Masachika is gone, physically at least. Shaking his head beyond the plane of existence sanemi can’t see at his stupidity and wishing that he could have helped them better mend their relationship, that he could’ve told genya how much sanemi loves him and told Sanemi that the love he shows Genya is more hurtful to the kid than getting ripped apart by demons every night simply because he can regenerate with one bite of demon flesh.

Too bad it didn’t work out like that.

please be so, so careful taking advice from these people online, as many of them are not formally trained or educated, brand ambassadors, deep in pseudoscientific rabbit holes and unfortunately, there are many out there who struggle with disordered eating habits

(not mentioned here but another one worth noting: i have personally known people who have burned their oesophagus with viral apple cider vinegar shots and drinks. don’t do that. a burned oesophagus is not fun)

A little kid and his mother are trick or treating in another city, perhaps at some kind of event rather than knocking on doors, and the kid is dressed as Phantom. It’s very adorable, with his little ghost-shaped bucket and clearly homemade and already stained costume—listen, white only works if you can just fly over street grime or phase it out of your clothes—and his slightly I’ll fitting wig. The kid is SO happy to be out and about dressed as his favorite, and maybe even showed it off to Phantom back in Amity Park before his family left.

The hero, insert whoever you wish here, is probably in civvies and just enjoying the event. The kid, meanwhile, is so glad when people ask who he is so he can explain, and so- the hero gets to hear ALL ABOUT the local town hero who is probably pretty small time despite the kid’s clearly exaggerated stories. The hero certainly never heard of him, but the kid’s mom confirms that Phantom really was the town hero, despite some mixed reviews of the poor guy.

“Did you manage to show him your costume?” the hero asks.

“Yeah! We went down to the cemetery to leave flowers and I got to show him my costume.”

Wait. Cemetery? Maybe it was part of theme, because Phantom had to be named that for a reason, but… it sounded like…

The kid ignores the suddenly VERY still hero and instead turns to his mom. “Momma, do you think we should bring him candy? He doesn’t get to trick or treat like we do, and I can work super hard to get him a bunch!”

The kid’s mom just smiles. “We could, but maybe we should bring him something homemade. I bet he’d like something more filling, teen boys like him have a hollow leg.”

The kid wrinkles his nose. “Like Vernie with the pizza bagels?”

“Like your cousin, yes. We can make some cinnamon rolls and take them to his memorial, maybe bring some of the apples from your grandpa’s garden…”

The hero is pretty much forgotten as the two-part family wanders off, not quite intentionally forgetting the hero is there so much as the hero somewhat accidentally ended the conversation when they just froze and didn’t ask anything further.

Not that the hero didn’t want to. But they’d learn something very serious.

One—there was a small town hero they’d never heard of. Two—that hero was apparently a teen. Third—most pressingly, the teen hero was both beloved enough to have kids dressing up as him and dead enough to have a grave.

This… might require some phone calls.
