Not to be sappy on main, BUT
Tumblr feels like having your own personal cove. Water laps at the shoreline to bring you many interesting things from many interesting places.
Some of them have drifted to your shore from the next cove over, perhaps from that person who makes those little ships in bottles that you think are so beautiful, or perhaps from the person whose scribbled jokes on post-it notes make you laugh when they arrive: dog-eared and soggy, but still legible enough for you to dry out and send on their way for someone else to exhale through their nose in amusement at.
Some of them travel far from distant lands before coming to rest on your little beach: ones marked with a flame to indicate that someone wanted the S. S. Four-Twenty to send it to as many people as possible, or ones that have been appreciated by so many others before you that they're tattered and have several other additions stapled to them and you're not really sure who even wrote them in the first place.
You get used to your little cove. You like it here. The things that wash up have contents you expect and enjoy, because you told the big blue sea that you liked that one and want to see more.
And every now and then, one of those unique places beyond the horizon starts sending things you don't expect.
Sometimes these surprises are not your thing, but you keep opening them, because you like the person that sends them.
Sometimes they become your thing, when you see enough of them that you're curious what the person from the next cove over is so adamant about.
Sometimes, they're something that you've seen before from someone, then not for a while, and you can't help but smile when you see that thing washed up on the sand again, your heart warm with the knowledge that they've rediscovered that thing they used to love so much.
And sometimes that thing is Transformers and you're once more blessed with Optimus Prime and Starscream fucking nasty on your dash

my two cents
hey can i pick your brains for a second
what do we think actually is capable of breaking a cornerstone ?? i am writing my fuckass 5th aventio fic but im like well HOW am i going to have a long and uncomfortable scene where Aventurine spirals in his self destruction if i don't know...how one goes about smashing a cornerstone...
as far as i know nobody else has ever done that, and they just keep emphasizing the fact that he broke it wo saying how, and they fix it wo saying how it broke...hmmm...
do we think its like, a bodily thing? like if he destroys himself in his boss form / over exerts himself ?? but idk that doesnt really make a lot of sense and then i suppose that doesnt track with the boss fight since the stone doesnt break any worse from the actual fight it gets destroyed in nihility. but i cant think of what could be capable of busting a magic rock THAT badly like, it was literally in chunks. How did he find out breaking it was even an option? Aside from being so mentally sick obviously LMAO like what would his first instinct be if he was like "hey, maybe i can break this"
i just cant imagine him taking a hammer and mashing it into pieces but i mean fuck maybe that's deadass what he did maybe he pulled up to home depot and was like how much for this big ass hammer also is it good for breaking rocks
tbh i was joking about the hammer but now that i think about it, aventurine isnt necessarily a hard stone, I'm pretty sure it's like a 6.5 on the hardness scale so he could i guess in theory break it if we're assuming it has the same hardness as the normal stone and doesnt have any sort of magical strength in it...
basically i'm just writing the scene where he mashes it and i really need it to be dramatic and emo bc IM dramatic and emo and how else is ratio going to come in and comfort him huh cmon keep up

Just walked past about 20 or so teenagers, with the leader of the group carrying an inflatable raft that would fit maybe 3 at most, and the guy behind him triumphantly wielding a single bright yellow paddle.
god what I wouldn't give to see that

✨ Aventurine Analysis: Which Came First - the Stone or the Stoneheart? ✨
Do you guys ever think about how aventurine (AKA Goldstone) is a man-made semi-precious stone created by a reduction of copper ions added to molten glass and sealed in a hypoxic (no oxygen) environment that gives it a glittery effect known as aventurescence?
And do you ever think about how the word 'aventurine' itself (to quote Wikipedia) "derives from the Italian "a ventura" meaning "by chance". This is an allusion to the lucky discovery of aventurine glass or 'goldstone' at some point in the 18th century."
And do you ever think about how Aventurine (the natural gemstone) was named after the glass instead of the other way round, because it has a similarly glittery quality?
Because I do!
And then I think about how Aventurine (the character) was originally bought/sold for copper(!) coins, and came from a desert planet (glass is made from sand), and how it's actually pretty plausible that Aventurine's Cornerstone - based on the natural stone and not the man-made stone as far as I can tell - was actually named after him and not the other way round.
Analysis/explanation below! :)
Theory: what if the Cornerstones aren't a set of predetermined stones that get passed down, but rather a new Stoneheart gets their own stone that's unique to them upon induction?
For example, take Obsidian: she expresses an enjoyment of bloodshed, has a line where she says that it's 'no fun for prey to die a natural death', and has vampiric design motifs, which can be thematically-aligned with real obsidian. Historically, it's been used to craft weaponry sharper than steel out of volcanic glass, therefore associating it with bloodshed and destruction, plus the word 'obsidian' means 'of darkness' - suitably vampiric!
I personally think it's more likely that she was Like That before receiving her Cornerstone and that it was created to fit her, as opposed to the other way round (although I recognize it's not completely implausible for Diamond to have had the Obsidian stone conveniently vacant at time of hiring, or even actively searched for employees who fit the stone's 'aura', maybe).
Kakavasha's trial was called the 'Egyhazo Aventurine Case', which would - unless it's A) lore oversight on Hoyo's part, or B) just a wild coincidence - support the idea of him being called Aventurine before receiving his Cornerstone, especially since he would have needed a name other than his birth name to go by in-between being hired by the IPC and becoming a Stoneheart (based on conjecture and educated guessing). Jade told him the following at the end of his trial:
"Kakavasha... A good name, but unfortunately destined to be buried in the dirt. You though, you deserve to live, to create even more wealth for us. Go, pick the clothes you like, then choose your desired identity... and then use them well, child."
Naming himself after the court case that became his job interview is as good a pick as any, especially on short notice since he probably didn't have a lot of time to mull it over.
*deep breath*
So: Aventurine, forged in a suffocating environment from copper pieces and desert glass (and displaying the potentially lucrative 'glitter' of schemes and stratagems long before assuming his current role) being the inspiration for the similarly-glittering Cornerstone, the Aventurine of Stratagems, doesn't seem too far-fetched to me!
Plus it also clears up the vague irritation I always felt at his pre-employment (let alone pre-Stoneheart) court case being called that lmao
Thank you for reading! I wrote this instead of working on a project I was supposed to be working on ✌️😌
Bonus content for getting to the end of the post: some nice pictures of Goldstone vs natural aventurine :)

LEAPING on this bandwagon just to add that I love love LOVE his Korean VA's (Park Jun-won according to the wiki) interpretation of the character, in particular around the bossfight scene!
He sounds like he's about one second away from hysteria (from mania or anguish? Flip a coin!) at any given moment and I really like that take:
Have a listen (if I linked it correctly the video should start at the start of his fight)(edit: it seems it doesn't on mobile; you'll want to start at 68:35!): he sets the 'unhinged anime villain' scale to 11 and knocks it outta the park with that evil laugh during the second cutscene. It really makes him seem like he's actively have a breakdown, which I feel pushes past the boundaries of the slightly more toned-down Aventurines (I love all of the different interpretations, mind you)... some lean harder into the 'sexy' or 'suave' villain vibe but I feel like Park puts a more cheerful and almost carefree(?) attitude into his character - you can HEAR him smiling. :)
youtube
I do really like the idea that Aventurine just snaps during his bossfight. Like he's had enough, it's his time to shine, and he's about to go out in a blaze of glory... so why not just get it all out in the open? Nobody can see if he's laughing or crying beneath the (now literal) mask anyway, so...
I've always been sucker-punched by the "So why can't I be happy, too? Why can't I feel that free?" line, but... IDK, there's something about the way his voice cracks like he's going to cry in the Korean dub that the others don't quite reach - especially since he sounds so particularly cheerful otherwise. (Although Camden cuts a close second with the close-to-tears sound, IMO!)
I didn't really have much else to add (perhaps a part 2 with more character analysis and less fanboying at some point) but uhhhh.... yeah! Thanks for giving me the incentive to yell, OP! :D
idk if you’re still up to it but i wouldn’t mind you talking about the aventurine vas (referencing the dr ratio va post you made)
I warned you guys, this is a rant
(I'M SO HAPPY THERE ARE PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR ME YAP ABOUT MY FAVORITE HSR CHARACRER, THANK YOU SO MUCH)
I actually noticed that for Aventurine, the voice acting aren't that drastically different from one another like Veritas' voice acting. I actually liked JP, EN and CN for Aventurine. I will list my opinion in for each dub separately!
JP Aven: he sounds youngest out of the dubs to me. There is a certain boyish charm to the Japanese dub that I can't quite put my finger on when I listen to it. He just sounds really stinking cute in Japanese. But that makes it WAY BETTER when they hit you with the Boss Aventurine.
The difference between Japanese antagonistic and normal Japanese Aventurine is a WIDE MARGIN, I ALWAYS GET WHIPLASH WHEN I LISTEN TO IT. He sounds HOT AS HELL DURING THE BOSS FIGHT, bless me. Very threatening, 10/10.
EN: For Camden's first VA gig, he did an absolutely STUNNING performance. His performance was what made me fell in love with Aventurine and drag me back into the game. For his Aventurine, there are more differences. In general, Camden's cadence was what made his Aventurine stood out amongst the voice acting. The cadence thing will come back later in this post <3
I maybe was looking to much into it but, EN Aventurine sounds more genuine when he speaks with Veritas to me. He sounded like he was having a blast in that sandpit with his dear Doctor! There is certain giddyness to his voice when he speaks to Ratio, cute. The way he drawls Ratio's name out always gets me.
"Ratiooooo~"
As for other characters, he nailed the suspicious IPC executive thing. You listen to him and immediately go "Yep...can not trust this guy". He sounded 10x more like a bastard when speaking to other characters.
EN boss Aven doesn't actually sound threatening, he sounds more like he's trying to get on your nerves (Or in this case, Acheron's nerves so she'll slash him)
CN: out of all the Voiceovers, CN was the one that sounds the most...seductive, in a sense. I think it's because he speaks slower in Chinese. He and Alhaitham share the same CN voice actor if I remember correctly, wild, I know. He sounds very soothing and melodic in Chinese, slowly lulling you into his trap.
I would like to note here, that the Dynamic between Ratio and Aventurine in CN is vastly different compared to other voicing. This is probably because of how toned down Ratio sounds in Chinese dub. EN Ratio is more emotional, making it more like an Annoying x Annoyed dynamic.
Whereas, in Chinese, it's more of a Enigmatic x Amused/ Intrigued dynamic going on between them.
If you made it this far, thank you <3
This section is dedicated to the Farewell Kakavasha scene. Remember when I talked about cadence?
I noticed a distinct lack of cadence during the Kakavasha scene across all the voicing. He is no longer Aventurine in that scene, the mask is off. There, he is himself, he's not loud, dramatic, or clamorous. The way he spoke was very simplistic, I think to him, simplicity goes hand in hand with genuineness.
