You want to know what I REALLY love about DC’s treatment of Jackson Hyde/Kaldur’ahm/Jake? Is the fact that they give him so many love interests. He’s got Ha’wea (DC Comics), Kenny(You Brought Me The Ocean) and Wyynde(Young Justice) who have shown so much love and support for him. And I love the idea that a Black Gay (or in the case of YJ!Kalur’ahm, Queer) man can have so many people who care for him and love him. kaldur’ahm/Jackson is totally worthy of love and romance and softness and tenderness. Black Queer men are worthy of love and romance and softness and tenderness. 

I think that’s really important. 

...I still fucking hate DC for how they handled Cyborg, but I do love this.

Okay, so he knows about Jackon’s powers and all.  But Jackson could spend weeks/months (wouldn’t want to go longer than that) withholding identity information while exchanging messages and meeting surreptitiously.

For the record, I haven’t been following Aquaman. Actually, it’s one of the titles I liked better last I read it, but I just can’t do waiting a month per issue, and prefer to binge read plenty at one time. But I saw the Ha’wea in the tags, so I checked out the last two to meet him.

Not conceptually into AI grandpa (reminds me too much of AI Jor-El), though personality-wise interaction seems okay. And of course, I don’t know everything going on.

Do hope Jackson gets properly out from under Manta’s thumb soon.  Just don’t know how to make that happen while not eliminating the villain.

So today’s new Aquaman issue introduced a cute, chubby, POC queer character named Ha’Wea as a potential love interest for Jackson Hyde and no one’s talking about it
