Listen I have read a lot of fics for this fandom, I know Steve will be fine!

( I got spoilered for a reason for this show)

I thought I knew what I was walking into but OH BOY was I wrong!

This entire episode was one giant emotional rollercoaster, from Steves first talk in Danny's office and taking pills already giving a worrying vibe, to Chin getting his offer to lead his own task force, over to kono with little Sara and a pregnancy test?, to her later fighting her own battle about her drive towards stopping the sex-traffickers for good, back to the whole mcdanno chefs-hat-thing and "good luck partner", to Jerry having his celebration party over finally getting his batch and at last feeling like he's truly part of the five 0 ohana, back to the gutwrenchingly scared way our poor SEAL boy looked when he came out of that bathroom and his talk with Danny about his radiation poisoning, kono leaving to keep fighting sex-trafficking, I just-

It was a lot okay?!

And I know everything will be okay- (perks of watching old shows, you know how many seasons are still ahead of you and they were never gonna kill off their golden boy anyway - so it's FINE) but I was still very emotional about it all!

And i'm so sad that kono and chin will not be around for the rest of the seasons, I'll miss them so much 😭💔 h50 will not be the same without them

But that's enough of me babbling nonsense here

Point is, great season finale! Couldn't have wrote a better one! Uncharacteristically good job h50 writers? You guys were one a role this season

“Mom, I still don’t feel so good,” Eddie says as he tugs on Mom’s skirt and stumbles into the kitchen. He feels tired, achy, and too hot, but he had a bad dream about the firebird and the blue dragon going away. They’d told him they’d always watch over him, but he woke up looking for them and couldn’t find them. 

“Oh honey, that’s just the medicine kicking in. Do you want some more juice?”

“No!” Eddie shakes his head briskly. He doesn’t want to throw up again. 

“Maybe you need more medicine? The doctor said you might need a second dose,” Mom says, bending down to look him in the eye. She has a slight frown on her face, and Eddie doesn’t like this look. This is the look Mom gets when she’s about to be mean to someone while pretending to be nice. 

“I’m getting better,” Eddie insists despite feeling the room begin to sway around him. 

“We’ll do a second dose,” Mom says, already straightening to get the dark bottle out of the cupboard above the sink that’s too high for Eddie to reach. 

“I don’t want it,” Eddie protests, wanting to cry.

“This will make you feel better, honey. Just you see.”

The bitter taste makes him gag, but Mom doesn’t let him spit it out. Over his sniffles, there’s a fading cry of the firebird screaming in warning.  

He doesn’t see his firebird or her friend, the blue serpent dragon, again until many years later.

you remember how danny and steve chose a safe word for their valentines day (7x16 or sum) and how danny said it the moment steve threw his arm around dannys shoulder when they were eating outside with ambelissa and lynn?

Danny said the safe word cause he thought this was too much. the thing is, there are a few episodes where they are in the same position or so and none of them complained about it, they even both seemed very comfortable with it. so why would he feel uncomfortable now? i believe danny just realized it was too much for valentines day. i think he was like “if you want to keep your arm around me on valentines day you have to walk me to my room tonight” he’s just like “you either get with me or you let me spend a nice valentines day with my gf without giving me false hopes”

anyway, worse part is how steve is oblivious. he’s so happy to be here with Danny and doesn’t even realize it’s too much for his partner because that’s simply something they are used to do. anyway. bye.

season 1 mcdanno is sooooo important to me

Okay so I'm still at the start of s7 and so far I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like this season so far!

Like after the end of season 6 I was really fucking pissed because of how they treated Danny and how nonchalant Steve seemed to be about it all, but let me tell you -

nothing healed my cold dead soul like that little "I love you" talk Danny and steve have in ep 1 of s7 and how happy Danny looks when Steve finally FINALLY listens to him and doesn't get himself killed as a result! And after that Steve genuinely does try to take care of himself for once?? even if it's just a tiny bit- that's real character-growth right there, my guy! I'm so proud of him!

Also the mcdanno banter is suddenly fun and lighthearted again? Even kind and sweet at times? What happened there?

Don't get me wrong I absolutely love it!

It feels like there is finally some maturity and actual progress to their carguments again like they are actually working through their issues instead of just being bitter?

And I'm so here for that!

After almost two season of them just throwing venom at each other it's just so nice to hear them say stuff again like "I don't want you to be sad :(" "well that's why you're there, you make me happy" ??? <3. URGH MY HEART

Hell yes give me more of that please!

I don't even care about all the Catherine and God awful Doris stuff as long as these dorks finally get to be good for each other again!

Also really love chin and kono getting some much deserved screentime and adventures away from the team and the return of Adam and max! I missed those guys!

Another thing I really love is how - even if I hate the return of Doris with a passion- the team went immediately after Steve to Marokko this time! because they ARE a family!

Also love the detail that Steve kept his promise and informed Danny what was going on and of course Danny spilled it to the rest of the team and it's just so wholesome how much they care <3

Just love the atmosphere so far, it reminds me so much of the earlier seasons in the best way

I didn't even know I was starving for nice sweet mcdanno banter and Jerry being the uncle everyone wishes for, and Lou looking after grace while Danny is away, and chin discovering that yes he'd actually really love to be a dad, and kono and Adam getting to be happy, and kono being allowed to have a female friend for once who is not five 0, and just everyone feeling like a happy supportive family without to much seriousness in the way

Just in general the overall vibe within the team seems to be so much lighter compared to last season? Like you can really feel how Steve's almost death really brought them closer together?

It's good stuff!

Now I'm glad I kept watching,
