the difference between (Jonah)Elias and Gwen Bouchard is so funny to me because Elias will say he’s better than you while possessing near godly power that can (and almost does) bring about the end of the world and Gwen will say she’s better than you while possessing mommy issues and a mental breakdown

I know not many people have been focusing on it as much as Sam and Celia's moment, because it's so much more mundane. but that mundane aspect and the implicit terror that comes from Gwen's impromptu "promotion" is SO fucking terrifying

Gwen likely thought, handing over that evidence to Trevor, that there would be a process which would take at minimum a week to resolve. She handed over a collection of incriminating evidence, so naturally there would be investigation, a trial, a formal resignation, onboarding, counsel, training

But instead, Trevor Herbert just. Tells Lena to leave. The very same night. And promotes Gwen without properly telling her what to do with an entire department of government, that was already extremely obscure and unsustainable to begin with. All with a smile of nonchalance, "I'm sure you'll do great!" dumping all responsibility onto her shoulders

As someone who constantly worries about messing up, of fucking up from the slightest mistake, wanting clear cut instructions for how to do things? Horrifying to be just left to figure it out. Oh, and while you know this place is some sort of safe haven from the monsters outside, you have no idea how to do that now.

I didn't post about last week's ep and I think it's because there wasn't enough character drama for me

But my guys and their messy relationship are soooo back

I had assumed it had been an amicable split but they really had some deeper issues

Okay I feel kinda bad for Gwen I'll admit it

But also i don't know what Gwen is expecting on this point

I'm kinda curious how she's gonna go forward. Go rogue and chase down more monsters? Knowing Gwen probably.

What is she trying to prove? If Alice sticking around is suspicious then Gwen sticking around is ASTOUNDING.

ok latest episode! Here’s my thoughts, rant, and theories!! Also I have lots of questions I’m super confused (sobbing noises) I’m going to probably edit this later once I’ve read the transcript (thanks audio struggles) this is just what I’ve understood/gathered from listening to it!

ok! Starting off with the paperwork, I think it’s interesting that San is still getting that considering how long it’s been, and we know it isn’t Alice doing it and now we know Lena doesn’t know what’s going with it either, so someone (something) else is going on there, it could possibly be Freddie (or one of the three voices inside the computer)

then there’s the case, this was an interesting one it’s something different from what we’ve previously heard (though there’s a case from archives it makes me think of I just need to go back through and figure out which one it was) but I’m thinking this was something to do with the stranger, her recreating herself with the intent of better but it came out wrong as heard in the last (deleted) post. I’m thinking that it could have something to do with the flesh or end considering what happened to her, but it mostly gives off stranger vibes.

the interactions with Gwen at the end were CRAZY!! Especially Alice knowing something’s up with the tape recorders like whaaa?!? Girl you see where Colin’s coming from now huh! that was a weird moment in general!!

ok I love how I could feel the Harlan Guthrie vibes coming through in the writing hat was cool af, that one line about a voice in your head that was so fun in so many ways!! also the fact that we might not get Jon and Martin however we got not just Basira but Helen too!!! THE Helen D. Stortion?!?!? I’m curious how Celia tied into everything and if she’s from the archives we know, or another version of it.. either way I cant wait for next episode! Please feel free to leave your thoughts plus theories in reblogs I would love to see what yall think I’m so super hooked on sharing thoughts!!!

TMAGP 15 THOUGHTS

Ok, I'm going to try to go in order of the episode so I don't confuse anyone 😅

● Pre - Case

First off, while reading the transcript, I noticed the title (under Episode 15) said "Good Show" while under the Announcer's lines it says "Well Run," the title used on YouTube. I wonder if this was the original title, a typo, or something else. Also, I did check every other transcript, and all match with the announcer's lines and top of the page title. Just something random I noticed lol

According to Wikipedia, a summary of 'The Pillowman' (the play Sam and Celia were planning on going to) is:

"Katurian, a writer of short stories that often depict violence against children, has been arrested by two detectives, Ariel and Tupolski, because some of his stories resemble recent child murders. When he hears that his brother Michal has confessed to the murders and implicated Katurian, he resigns himself to being executed but attempts to save his stories from destruction. The play contains both narrations and reenactments of several of Katurian's stories, including the autobiographical "The Writer and the Writer's Brother", which tells how Katurian developed his disturbed imagination by hearing the sounds of Michal being tortured by their parents."

I wonder if this might be foreshadowing: either for another Avatar, or maybe what someone is going to try to do to Jack (this would break me, I hope he stays safe 😭😭😭), or maybe it could be a nod to Sam's or Celia's past?

On a lighter note, I really enjoyed the Sam/Alice/Celia interactions! Maybe a polycule in the making?

● Case

This case was definitely of the Hunt. It kinda reminded me of the 'Murder Club' episode in TMA. Lady Mowbray is definitely interesting! I hope we get to see more of her :3 I wonder if her family is one of Avatars, like the Fairchilds (adopting other Avatars in, instead of focusing on blood like the Lukas'). Also, I wonder if the 'dogs' are like Daisy's transformation in S5, but more extreme. Just a werid thought I had lol

● Post - Case

Mowbray telling Celia that she's "different???" More nods to Celia being from TMA! (:

Also, the fact that Celia caught onto her being an Avatar and the "No you won't" to "catch you next time, dearie?" Let's go, Celia!

WTH is a 'Cheshire Bouchard?' Is it like the Fairchilds or Lukas'? Is it a family of Avatars? Are there multiple Bouchard families? Are Gwen and Elias even related? I have so many questions 😭

We also got to meet Luke which was cool! I hope nothing bad happens to him (me actively remembering what happened to Tim's brother) 😅

As for 'Victim' and Alice: the victim had to be a victim of the Vast, especially since they talk about stuff like the sea, the sky, deep blue, no ground, ect. And they seemed tied to the tape recorder in some way? I wonder if this universe's Archivist or Magnus or Head of the Institute had a similar power to Jon but more extreme. Like how Elias said that he was 'dream sharing' and was (accidentally) forcing people to relive their experiences with the fears in their dreams, I wonder if it's something like that, but more extreme and tied to their statements? Sorta like how Jon had the statements as an anchor, maybe the person anchored the victim's experience to the tape recorder, causing the spewing up water and choking and such.

Anyway, really interesting episode!

In my african opinion… the discussions about literacy genuinely get frustrating when we 1) dont expand/differentiate working definitions of literacy inside and outside the hegemony of the written word 2) fail to account for the communal effort of critical thought and written language literacy. acknowledging that yes we are living in an age of anti intellectualism that requires aliteracy and passive consumption towards text from its literate population and materially marginalizes the intellect of people who cant read. i DO want to split that hair because i feel that while ismatu gwendolyn had the range to acknowledge as much, many others dont! I graduated side by side with ppl who who read on first grade levels as adults. If we want to imagine a revolutionary future that engages literacy we need to tiptoe the reality that literacy is a tool to survive a western written-word-hegemony, the reality that critical thought in this hegemony must be developed thru a dynamic engagement with literacy, that this critical thought can be nurtured in communities that struggle with illiteracy by acknowledging the communal nature of knowledge and critical thought, and get the fuck off our high horses about written text.
