"Really? He wants us to meet the guy here?"

You were in the passenger seat as Mr. White pulled into the parking lot of Los Pollos Hermanos, and you couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. This did not seem like the kind of place to discuss such an important business deal. This was the kind of place you'd go to at 3AM when you're hungover and playing chicken with the toilet.

"Look, I didn't pick the location, alright?" Mr. White replied as he unbuckled his seatbelt, "For once, I'm as clueless as you are."

You rolled your eyes, he always had to find a way to insult you, didn't he?

The two of you walked in, ordered your food, and sat down at a booth. Jesse came in a couple minutes late, and he looked pretty rough. He was shaking, probably spun out. You scooted over in your seat to let him in, and gave him a "You good?" look. Walt just groaned. "You're late," He said bluntly.

Jesse scanned the room anxiously, "We're in the big time now. So where's the kingpin?"

Walt answered, "Your guess is as good as mine."

"Wait, what?" You asked, "do you even know who he is?"

"Were neither of you two listening when Saul went over this?" Walt put his face in his palms and took a deep breath, as if he was praying for the strength to not strangle the both of you. "No, I don't know who he is. So why don't you just shut up and-"

"What about that guy?" You pointed at a clean-cut man with glasses talking to another customer. He was in a button down shirt and tie, suspiciously out of place in an establishment like this.

Mr. White slapped your hand down. "Don't point, you dope! We don't want to draw attention to ourselves."

Jesse chimed in as he looked over his shoulder. "They could be right, though. He doesn't look like he belongs here. 'S kinda a Where's Waldo thing, y'know? Should we ask?"

"No. No, we should not ask." Walt growled, pulling both of your gazes back on him. "I just said we don't want to make a scene. Am I the only one around here who gives a-"

An unfamiliar voice cut him off, "Good afternoon! Is everything to your satisfaction?"

The three of you jumped in your seats, and turned to look at the new party in your conversation. It was that guy you had just pointed out. How the hell did he get over here without any of you noticing? Unless he had teleportation powers, you must've been making a bigger scene than you all thought.

Mr. White opened his mouth, but you were first to speak. "Good, thanks! Hey, uh, we're supposed to meet someone here right about now. Did anyone ask about us?"

The mysterious stranger looked at you curiously, and checked over his shoulder before answering, "No, but..." He leaned in closer to you, his smile suddenly warmer and his voice much softer, "I'm sure whoever you're meeting will be happy to see you."

You started to blush, forgetting where you were, who you were with, and what the context of the situation was. Any confidence you held a moment ago was as fried as the restaurant's famous spice curls. "Th...Thanks..." you stuttered.

The stranger nodded to you and said, "You are most welcome," before he reverted to his original stance and volume to address your partners as well. "Please let me know if you have any questions," were his parting words.

You couldn't take your eyes off him as he walked away. "That's the guy..."

Gustavo Fring

- Most likely meet at his restaurant

- I feel like you’d be super nice and he’d take an interest to who you are

- This man is hard to get so it would definitely take almost 3-4 months of visiting his restaurants and trying to get more out of him than just the “I hope you enjoyed your meal” 💀

- Gus would 100% be the first one to make a move, this man always calls the shots

- If you thought getting him to make the first move…just you wait for the actual relationship 😩

- Mans will take a whole ass year to get to know you before making things official 😭

Ignacio (Nacho) Varga

- You’d probably meet him at his dads auto shop

- You’re having car trouble and somehow luckily broke down in front of the shop

- He’d be the first one to come out and ask you if you needed any help

- You’d be very shy but would try to tell him what was wrong with your car

- Somehow some part would have to be shipped til next week so Nacho being a sweetheart would give you a ride to your house and his number to come pick it up when it’s ready

- To thank him you’d bring him coffee that morning when you’d pick up your car

- I feel like this would be a very cutesy and almost romcommie way to meet and get to know him 😭

- But Nacho is such a sweetie 🥺

Lalo Salamanca

- Honestly you’d probably meet Lalo at a bar 😭

- I feel like he doesn’t really frequent other places

- You’d probably catch his eye and he’d buy you and your friends drinks

- You’d ask the bar tender who is the person buying you all these expensive drinks in which they’d point to Lalo across the bar

- You go up to him to thank him for all the drinks and offer to buy him one

- He’d decline but make small talk and leave his number once he’d leave

- Honestly I think you’d be a bit weary at first since he is older than you but you’d eventually call him

- I think Lalo would be really sweet and take you out on lots of dates at fancy restaurants

- He’s definitely a gentlemen 🥰

Saul Goodman

- I feel like you’d meet Saul when he’s trying to sauce someone up to be one of his clients

- You’d overhear, or more eavesdrop, and become intrigued on who this funny lawyer man is

- You’d strike up a conversation with him and ask him for his business card

- You’d call him up to “ask” him things about law but in reality it’s more of a date

- Saul being Saul would either not get the gist or would think you weren’t interested him in a romantic way

- It would take you literally spelling it out for him, for him to understand 😭

- He’d literally sit there like: 😳🫨

- Although Saul would be busy I think he’d be super sweet and tell you about his day/clients (obvi client confidentiality and everything)

Kim Wexler

- Ugh my love 😩

- I feel like you’d most likely meet Kim because you’d have some late tickets you haven’t paid off and you’d have to go to court

- Kim would be your public defender and try to coach you so you get them lowered

- She’d also try to tell you to try and do community service to put your best foot forward

- I’m not sure if this would really turn into a romantic relationship because Kim is very professional

- Most likely will be the long friends to lovers route like her and Jimmy 🥰

- As a partner, she’d be able to be herself more and let her walls down

- She’d definitely still be more of the extrovert/dominant personality

My little Gusmax headcanon is that Max (and his family members) always called Gustavo “Tavo”. And after Max was killed, Gustavo never wanted to hear that name again, out of anyone else’s mouth. So he cut off all ties with any family he might have left in Chile. And he adopted “Gus” not just to Anglify himself and assimilate more in the US, but also to distance himself as much as possible from Tavo and all of its associations, and the man he used to be when Max called him by that name.

What do you think of Gus and Gale's relationship?

Personally, I like to think that Gus did have some degree of fondness for Gale, and that was one of the reasons why he was so angry when Walt had Jesse kill Gale.

Oh anon, I don't think they have much of one and we see that more or less in the show. Gale has very little idea what he's getting into and who exactly he's working with and Gus really only speaks to him when necessary.

I don't think any fondness was involved, Gus had other very good reasons to be very upset.

Gus's Perspective on Gale

Gus had hit the jackpot.

He found a PHD level chemist who is familiar with all the equipment he needs, who has a relatively clean record (beyond smoking weed in college and the like I'm sure), who is just an eccentric fellow who wants to do cool chemistry, get paid for it, and dabble in exciting things he shouldn't be doing without feeling any real risk.

Gale lives a quiet life, has no significant other who can talk sense into him/turn him in/turn him in a direction Gus doesn't like, he does his job earnestly and is a rule-abider when it comes to Gus's rules, and Gus will never ever have a problem with Gale.

Gale is exactly the sort of person Gus likes to do business with: clean in every other respect, unnoticed, and completely off the radar.

Gus doesn't care that he's not as good at Walt as making miracle meth, he just needs Gale to be good enough and better than everyone else (and if something unfortunate happened to Walt then that competitor is off the market anyway).

And then there's fucking Walter White.

On the very very very surface level, Walter White also looks like someone Gus would love to do business with. Walt certainly thinks so. Walt previously had a clean record, he's a middle aged white dude no one looks twice at, he is (in Walt's humble opinion) so smart and so much smarter than everyone else, and he makes the best meth around.

Trouble is it takes Gus 0.02 seconds to see that Walter is emotionally unstable, a huge risk taker when it comes to personnel (as at the time Gus takes one look at Jesse and goes "his second in command is an active meth addict???", he has a complex where he absolutely has to be the big man, and if Gus deals with him in any capacity then whatever Gus gains monetarily he'll lose out on by taking on huge amounts of risk.

Not to mention this guy was clearly involved in beef with the Salamancas and Gus wants to take care of those fuckers personally.

Gus decides to give Walt a trial run, but he never wants to deal with him in the long term, this is just to get Gale more cooperative and maybe get Gale up to speed on making meth that's as good as Walt's.

And then Walt fucking kills Gale.

Kills the golden goose that Gus has spent ages finding, that he was lucky to find, and now Gus is stuck with fucking Walt who just proved he'll kill key personnel of Gus's if he's in a panic. Which is why as soon as possible Gus starts looking into Jesse as a replacement for Walt.

The Gale thing was so upsetting for Gus not because it was Gale as a person, but because of what Gale represented to him as far as his business went and the fact that Walter just fucking kills him.

However, the coati is also no insignificant animal; it is preyed upon by nearly every major predator in the Americas, but the coati has a tough hide attached to its underlying muscles, making it extremely difficult for teeth to get a hold. If Max had a dollar for every time their usual cooking dinner with Gustavo turned into a banal scene of a romantic movie for teenagers, then, well, he is sure that he would have enough money to never return to the laboratory again.

Not that he would be against indulging it for free.

Almost every evening, their little kitchen duties were sabotaged by the excessive presence of each other in unreasonable and unnecessary nearness.

Thus, a simple slicing of vegetables for Gustavo turned into a session of gentle kisses on the neck and shameless wandering of someone's impudent hands through his most intimate, ineffectually hidden under several layers of clothing, places.

Washing dishes for Max into warm hugs from the back, quite innocent, during which Gustavo's head just rested on his shoulder, and his arms tightly wrapped around his waist, as if Max was going to disappear at any moment, and lasted until they both surrendered to the mercy of overwhelming feelings.

Then, accompanied by the measured sizzling of the frying pan, their obedient waiting of food readiness immediately turned into a real fight for them on the countertop, where their lips, hands and bodies desperately fought against each other for the right to own the initiative.

It was rare when their future dinner remained unburned into coals by the time they finally remembered about it. But no matter how much Gustavo complained about the waste of ingredients, and Max about the need to get back to the stove, they were attracted to each other again and again, like addicts are attracted to a drug.ㅤ

Lalo and Nacho - Blue

Lyrics: “I try to live in black and white, but I’m so blue”/ “Victim of your father's plans to rule the world”/ “But they could say the same 'bout me, I sleep 'bout three hours each night”/ “And I could say the same 'bout you born blameless, grew up famous too just a baby born blue”

Reminds me of the way that they’re alike yet so different. Both got into the cartel business for whatever reason, Nacho for quick money (from my guess) and Lalo because that’s what he was “born” to do. I feel that they’re both upset on how they’re in this life, but both deal with it in a different way; Nacho wanting escape and have a free life and “not have to look over his shoulders” while Lalo completely delves into the world he was thrust into and basically dominates it, although, in my own interpretation it also seems that it takes a toll on him as he only sleep 2-3 hours a night and almost sees this as normal or “bliss” because he “gets his best ideas while others sleep” or when others have his back turned to him so he has the advantage.

Jimmy and Kim- Birds of a Feather

Lyrics: “If you go I’m going too”/ “Can't change the weather, might not be forever, but if it's forever, it's even better”

Omg my favorite couple 😭 I absolutely love them so much. While I think that they did love each other I also think it had a lot to do with them being almost complete opposites in a way(?). Kim knows who she is and she is not afraid to project herself as a very confident person. Jimmy on the other hand has a hard time grasping who he really is. Is he a good guy who feels empathy and wants to do good by Chuck and not slip back into his ‘slippin’ Jimmy’ shenanigans or is he his alter ego Saul Goodman who uses the law in an unethical way to contort Justice to his/his clients personal gain? In their relationship they both start to grow with each other and become almost the opposite of who they were from the start. I love the way their relationship grows, although in the end they didn’t end up together 😢. I also believe this is the way Jimmy would feel about Kim because even until the end he does everything in his power to protect her even if that means rotting away in prison.

Mike and Gus- Chihiro

Lyrics: “To take my love away”/ “Kinda strange, feelin' sorrow”

Another pair that is the same yet so different. Both of them lose a really close and important person in their lives to them playing a dangerous game. Mikes son because he couldn’t be a corrupt cop like him and Gus’ friend/lover because of Gus overstepping his bounds. They both deal with this in anger and in seeking blood-for-blood. I love when Nachos dad calls out how revenge is basically worthless in this quote: “What you talk about... is not justice. What you talk of is... revenge. It never ends... my boy is gone.” I love how as the show progresses we see that Mike finally sees himself as what he is: a bad guy/ex&current corrupt cop. I feel that he also heals from losing his son in a way and basically comes to terms with it. On the other hand, Gus does not. Gus stops at nothing to get his revenge and in a way of poetic justice the last person who he wants to kill ends up killing both of them and the feud they had being completely obliterated.

Bonus:

Mike and Jesse- Wildflower

Lyrics: “She was your girl, you showed her the world”/ “But I see her in the back of my mind, all the time”

Oof this is a hard one. I chose this song because it reminds me of when Jesse is trying to get closer to Mike and Mike shuts him down with “you are not the guy, you are not capable of being the guy, I had a guy and now I don’t” which I interpret him as Nacho being his “guy”. I’m BCS we see Mike start to care a lot for Nacho and it shows how he almost sees himself in Nachos dads shoes with not wanting his son to get hurt in the lucrative business he’s in. You can tell Mike cared a lot for Nacho when he goes to tell Nachos dad about his passing and how he’ll get justice for him. I believe that Mike then doesn’t want to get close to Jesse as a form of closing himself off since he knows people don’t last long in the business. Obviously they do end up getting closer and the lyrics just remind me of Mike probably thinking of Nacho in the back of his mind whenever he does ride alongs with others and wondering how long they’ll eventually last, or if they’ll outlast him.

Walter and Skyler- The Greatest

Lyrics: “Man, am I the greatest. My congratulations. All my love and patience. All my admiration”/ “I loved you and I still do”

The lyrics basically speak for themselves. As we’ve seen in BB, Skylar is constantly out of the loop on what’s going on with Walter, from the cancer to then cooking meth. This song reminds me of how Skyler stuck around even when she didn’t want to or it pained her, for her family and because I really do think she loved Walter, but she couldn’t be with him due to his selfishness and putting them in danger. Sorry this one isn’t longer, this relationship just really stresses me out and makes me mad 💀

Some more random headcanons, cuz why not?

Some of them appear in my fics, others are just rattling around in my brain lol.

Lacho:

Nacho learned how to modify cars from his dad's friend Raul, who he also developed a crush on as a teenager. Which is how he realized he has a Thing for older men. (His Daddy Issues are obvious. But also, he just thinks older guys are hot, ok? leave him alone). Lalo's love of cars is a passion they share and something they genuinely bond over. It now means that Lalo is also tangled up in associations with his first older man crush. Which could mean nothing...

Nacho speaks Spanish, but pretty much only at home with his Papa or with customers at A-Z. He doesn't really know any Mexico-specific slang. And he kind of talks like an old man in Spanish, because he's used to speaking with his Papa and acting as his English translator. Tuco and Lalo of course bully him for this.

Lalo's mother is a Caucasian American who was a model and actress. She didn't really approve of her husband's cartel career, but preferred to turn a blind eye. His parents were killed at his cousin Aurelia's (sister of Marco and Leonel) funeral [[shout out to @el-michoacano for creating Aurelia! Sorry I stole her for my headcanons haha]]

Random, but: Tuco's sister's name is Soledad, nickname Sole. She met Gonzo at a lowrider convention and she also enjoys souping up and racing cars. Abuelita Salamanca's name is Serafina, but she either goes by Sera or just accepts that Nacho and everyone else in the cartel is going to call her Dona Sera. She was a fearsome Dona (sorry no tilda!) in her time, but as an older woman, she became more religious and is in denial over her beloved grand children and son Hector's criminal activities. Nacho's mom was Gloria---a waitress in Galeana who danced folklorico competitvely, which is how she met Manuel at a competiton in Zacatecas. While they both grew up poor and often hungry, Max's response to hunger is to overindulge and eat as much as he can when it's available. He had a food hoarding problem, hiding food under his bed and around the house as a kid, but he outgrew it with some help from Gustavo during university; meanwhile, Gustavo's response to hunger was to conserve food and ration to make it last as long as possible

Gustavo doesn't really enjoy cooking, but he is technically skilled at it and he does it to impress or intimidate people (like when he had Walt over for dinner) or to honor the memory of Max or his family members in Chile. He really only enjoys making specific dishes like his mother's Paila Marina or Max's favorites like pollo arvejado stew.

Max was originally planning to go into pharmaceuticals after studying chemistry, but he and Gustavo figured that making a fortune with meth first would be faster and he could always go legitimate afterwards

Gus of course noticed you being there more often. Ignoring you got harder.

One day you decided to shoot your shot - the same day he decided to strike a conversation with you. 

You learned his name is Gustavo Fring.

There was something about his smile and way of talking that charmed you.

But he also seemed very reserved and troubled. He seemed afraid to answer your flirting and got really flustered from it.

Just as you were about to give up your flirting attempts, he surprised you by asking you out on a date.

Of course, you said yes.

Gus enjoys good food and luxury, so it was no surprise he took you to a 5-star restaurant for the first date - his treat.

The date went really well. Gus is a good listener and listened to you in a way that was rare.

The more he got to know you, the harder he fell in love. 

Actually - he figured he was in love already after the first kiss. 

Once getting clarity in what he felt, he knew what he had to do - Telling you the truth about who he is.

The fear of losing you was big. 

…But the fear of you staying, becoming part of his dangers - was bigger.

He explained to you how he had fallen in love with you, before dropping the bomb.

You were shocked, of course. 

After some days of thinking about what he’d told you, you made a decision.

Upon telling him; Gus felt a wave of emotions: Confusion, happiness, relief but also anxiety. But he put all that aside. 

Gus officially became your boyfriend and you couldn’t be more happy - neither could he.

All dangers aside - Gus does everything to be “boyfriend material” lol

His love language is touch, and words of affirmation.

He doesn’t let a day go by without telling you how much he loves you. 

He always wants you close - just holding your hand makes him feel good. 

He also likes spoiling you - expensive gifts, homemade dinners, road trips with him etc… 

He basically spends all his spare-time with you.

You spend a lot of time in his house, with or without him.

He has money, enough to provide you safety. 

Because of his enemies, and dangerous life, Gus gets very overprotective and a bit possessive.

Ngl he’d probably hire a bodyguard for you whenever you are away in another town with friends/family 😭 Or ask Mike to keep an eye on you lol

He’d be too paranoid to openly be in a relationship with you - but tell a few people he really trusted. If he could, he’d tell the whole world tho. He loves you and it frustrates him to not be able to tell people.

Gus is very good at reading people, so he often can see if something is wrong.

He’s a good listener and tries to always see things from your POV

He rarely gets mad at you either. 

Most of the time he’s calm and understanding.

He tries to always be there for you, if not with advice, at least with support and to offer you comfort.

Nope.

Gus is clearly canonically gay, no questions asked here, and we know he mixed business with pleasure in the past. However, Mike doesn't seem to be his type and more it would go against the way Gus operates by the time he meets Mike in canon. Gus wants someone efficient, competent, who he can rely on, and who will not bring attention to him and his operation.

Gus lives his life to attract as little notice as possible, he will have no lovers, he will not make Mike anything more than an employee who he would have normal employee interactions with to the outside world.

Gus would never ever go for it and if Mike was interested, he'd find a bullet in his head for being a liability.

As for Mike, he respects Gus and how he operates, but Gus is dirty same as Mike is. Mike can work with dirty people, he knows them, he's one of them, but it's not the people he likes. Mike adores his son, who was the only clean cop in a dirty district and died because of it. His son's wife who he places on a pedestal (and perhaps isn't as clean/good as he thinks she is) and above all his granddaughter who has nothing to do with this.

Mike himself doesn't seek companionship beyond his family, he knows too much, is too dirty, and it'd just put the person in danger and he himself wouldn't be able to trust them. Getting involved with his crime boss, especially, would be just stupid and would get him killed. Mike ain't doing that ever.
