La Valentía Desafiante

Gus was back home after yet another failed business meeting. He went to the living room and sank in the couch.

Max was in the bedroom, changing out of his formal clothes.

It seemed as though no matter how hard he and Max tried, they would never be able to convince any drug dealer in town about switching their product to meth from cocaine -- no matter how much potential meth had for the drug business. Least of all someone like Don Eladio.

What's more, Don Eladio and his minions had started to question Gus' relationship with Max.

None of those people had said anything directly to either of them, but Gus was not oblivious to the change in body language and the unspoken things left out of their conversations.

He was certainly not oblivious to the partly amused, partly disgusted looks those people would exchange among themselves every time Gus and Max decided to sit close together during the meetings. That was just one example among many.

Gus sighed in resignation and looked around himself in that dimly lit room.

His eyes fell on the Christmas tree by the fireplace, which he and Max had decorated together a few days ago. Gus could not help smiling at it despite his sour mood.

It was Christmas Eve today. Gus' gift for Max was kept safely in one of the drawers beneath the TV.

Although Gus had already planned a nice surprise for Max tomorrow—not just a gift, but also an elaborate date night—he still wanted to do more.

He was tired of being made to feel submissive, like he was beneath the people he would sometimes have important meetings with. He was tired of not being seen as an equal.

Gus did not want to be a passenger in the car on his own journey through life.

He looked down at the ring he used to wear on his right hand. It was given to Gus by his dad when he was a teenager.

The ring did not have much of a monetary value, but it had been passed down to him as a generational property.

It had a gray band with an artificial blue stone in the center.

Gus had an idea. He would give this ring to Max tomorrow when exchanging gifts with him.

He would give it to Max as a promise ring—a promise of marriage in the future, or at the very least, a promise of a lifetime of togetherness.

That would be his way to set his foot down and take back the driver's seat in his life.

What a perfect gift, both to Max and to himself!

Gus allowed a small smile to play across his lips, feeling very giddy all of a sudden.

Could it be Christmas Day already?

Alright let’s talk about this Kickstarter! Entertainment Echoes is about shows that ended 5+ years ago. If the fandom is old we’re trying to make merch for it! Our first set includes merch and Enamel Pin Designs for Teen Wolf, House MD, Merlin, X-Files and MORE.

You can see some of the designs here, but I also want to talk about our stretch goals and our freebies.

The first stretch goal is this Gravity falls mini pin set! The star is definitely baby bill, but I adore all of them.

Next we have our Teen Wolf Mini Pins! We love good filler pins for our wolf boards, so this one was so fun to draw up.

The last stretch goal I have planned are these text pins!!! We love quotable moments from our favorite tv shows!!!!

Winter Soup

Gus was getting dressed in the bathroom on a winter morning as Max continued to sleep in their bedroom.

Max had been sleeping for unusually long today. Normally, he was the one to get up first and wake up Gus. He even had a morning class today in his college at 8 AM. Gus decided to let him sleep while he got ready for the day.

Gus fixed his tie, ran his hand through his hair and walked out of the bathroom. Max turned in the bed a little, but he was still asleep.

Gus raised his eyebrows in concern and walked over to Max's side of the bed. "Estás bien?" he asked.

Max hummed in his sleep, but apparently he couldn't open his eyes. He pulled the comforter closer and shivered a bit.

Gus placed the back of his arm on Max's forehead and neck. "God, you're burning!"

Max opened his eyes with some fluttering. "Mm? Querido, no me siento bien hoy," he said and grabbed Gus' wrist.

Gus held up his other forearm to check the time. Max just had fifteen minutes to make it to the class on time. "So, you can't go to your classes today?"

Max looked up at him from just above the comforter with the most adorable gaze and shook his head.

Gus smiled at him fondly. He then bent over to kiss Max on his forehead. Max smiled at that.

"Hang in there. I'll be right back." Gus squeezed Max's shoulder and turned around to get out of the bedroom.

Gus also had important business to attend to, but he was not going to leave the house before making some soup for Max.

Everything else could wait.

Meng Xi shi, for all she put shen qiao through in TA, is AFRAID in peerless. not ONCE does she put these men through the real ringer, like yeah this is the whole premise of the novel, that they're literally the best, but there's no real risk! At the end of the day I *know* they're going to be fine with zero consequences. And whatever consequences they do suffer are quickly sped through so you don't really have the time to suffer with them. Give me a devastating emotional loss. It doesn't have to be physical, it doesn't even have to really be a loss but make the price for the win fucking outrageous. Otherwise how can I accept that they're human? If I don't go with them through the best and worst of their journey? I dare you, author, to humanize these gays for me
