Exploring the vibrant worlds of the Gujarati, Bhojpuri, and Marathi film industries.
Tumblr media
Among the oldest and biggest cinema industries around the globe is found in India. A public screening of an Indian movie occurred at the beginning of 1913. It was called Raja Harischandra. Finding someone to play female characters at the time was quite difficult. It has only recently been questioned whether the middle and lower classes still associate acting with a decline in virtue, female chastity, and credibility.
Gujarati Film Industry
Among the important regional and popular film industries in Indian cinema is Gujarati Cinema. The business has reached its best point over the past ten years thanks to sane and competent directors who have won the audiences' high praise. The movies have original stories, excellent acting, beautiful music, and a wide range of genres, including Family, Tragedy, Comedy, Mystery, Sports, Sci-Fi, Historical Drama, Action, and Relationship.
At the 64th National Film Awards, the movie "Wrong Side Raju" won the National Film Award for Best Motion Picture in Gujarati. The next film, "Reva," took up the 66th National Film Award for Best Motion Picture in Gujarati.
The Gujarati film industry's most admirable quality is that it consistently embraces Bollywood stars who are not Gujarati (Bollywood). Amitabh Bachchan, a Bollywood celebrity, and Jaya Bachchan both had cameo appearances in "Carry On Kesar."
The Gujarati film sector has produced numerous films filmed outside of India, demonstrating the sector's rapid expansion. The industry supports artistic filmmaking and its promotion across various media.
More than 8 crore Gujaratis and a global audience have been reached by Gujarati cinema thanks to innovation and art over the years. Gujaratis are wealthy, and the Gujarati movie business will soon reach new heights of development. There are several Gujarati actors in Bollywood as well.
Bhojpuri Film Industry
In recent years, Bhojpuri cinema has seen a significant evolution. This has enticed numerous prominent Bollywood actors to join the Bhojpuri film industry.
Bhojpuri film was fighting for its life and was on the verge of extinction until lately. However, the collaborative effort of the Bhojpuri film industry's creators, directors, and producers brought the sector back to life by turning it profitable once more.
Bhojpuri cinema has established a niche today, and its popularity on the international market has skyrocketed. There is a worldwide audience for Bhojpuri films, not just in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The Indian diaspora living in Brazil, Fiji, South Africa, Guyana, Suriname, Mozambique, and Trinidad & Tobago enjoys watching Bhojpuri films. To know more about this in detail you can log into our Bhojpuri film industry app.
Marathi Film Industry
The Marathi film industry has continuously produced works of art. The business has developed a reputation for being content-centric and important thanks to movies like Fandry, Court, and Kaasav. A few years ago, the phenomenal box office success of Marathi films like Sairat, Natsamrat, and Lai Bhaari gave the impression that the industry was prosperous. But, the reality of Marathi cinema's box office performance could be better. 2019 witnessed 11 weeks where three or more Marathi films were released on the same day, which is unusual in an industry where even a solo movie struggles to maintain at the box office. This gives these movies no chance at the box office.
The Marathi movie business has its work cut out for it as the pandemic effect on the box office fades over time, and the box office throughout languages starts to rebound. It must address some fundamental structural issues for more sustained success at the box office. To know more about this in detail, you can log into our Marathi film industry app.
Bollywood is acknowledged as having the biggest global film production sector. In all, 2961 films were made in India, including 1602 features in 2012. India offers some of the lowest prices in the planet for movie tickets.

Hello! Question for the para trio!
If you weren't soldiers, what would you be? Also, tell a fun fact about yourselves!
Hello anon! Sorry for the late reply, I apologise. Been busy these days, sigh :'(
"What would you be if you weren't a soldier?"
Arjun: I would have been teaching children in school, university or in an institute. The true fact is that our youth is the future of the country. Who knows if a soldier might erupt from there?
Aditya: I would have been a doctor. My very first dream was to help and cure people from their problems. She used to say, that doctors are like angels sent by God, cause they give them a second life to the individual. Let it be through defense, or medical, I'll always align myself in the field of service.
Yuvraj: If I don't become a soldier, who said I can't help soldiers anymore? I'd be a commando trainer! I'll make the soldiers know about what ways they can take down their opponents, and in a more efficient and quicker way. Reflex is absolutely necessary, when it comes to fighting.
"Tell me a fun fact about yourself!"
Arjun: Well there's nothing fun about me so why do you — sigh, fine. It's that I love games which include mind power. Something which challenges your inner mentality to see how wise you are to crack it. I'm myself to judge how much better I have to be and how not to. This is why I'm also able to judge others according to their thoughts, as well. *eyes towards the two*
Aditya: .. I know, sir is side-eying me.. but, anyways about me! Ahem, I love to eat thepla! It's a Gujarati flatbread which can be enjoyed with curd and chutney! It can be eaten as breakfast, and as a snack!
Yuvraj: I can act really well, I can do some famous Bollywood actors, even the old ones! I'm multi-talented.. oh. Yeah, Aditya please. You're not even close to that, go eat your thepla.

I know many may find Dharmendra's inclusion in this blog weird, given he is quiet well-known even if an undoubted 'great', yet ventured to include him, since he is despite all his 'greatness' still quite underestimated, given how he kept posing big hurdles in the megastar Rajesh Khanna's career with his sheer competitive talent, much as even managed to try drag the legendary sweet Kishore Kumar too into the rowdy genre by having him lend his voice to his macho 80's songs, but that Kishore Kumar couldn't keep pace with longer, & before retiring for publicly undisclosed reasons soon later.

For high-quality audio, a lossless audio format such as FLAC or ALAC is considered to be the best as it preserves all the audio information from the original recording. These files are typically large in size and may require more storage space on your device.
For a balance between sound quality and file size, an uncompressed audio format such as WAV or AIFF can be a good choice.
If file size is a concern and you're looking to save storage space on your device, a compressed audio format such as MP3 or AAC can be a good option. These formats use algorithms to remove certain parts of the audio that are considered to be inaudible to the human ear, resulting in smaller file sizes.
It's worth noting that some people might not be able to tell the difference between high-quality and lower-quality audio, and the quality of the audio can also depend on the listening equipment and environment.

[ad_1] Filmmaker Pan Nalin’s Gujarati movie ‘Chhello Show’ is hitting headlines ever because it was introduced as India’s official entry for the Oscars this 12 months. The coming of age drama has made a mark at a number of movie festivals, however it's but to be seen by the Indian viewers. Cashing in on the large buzz, the makers launched the movie’s trailer lately and it'll hit the theatres on October 14. The movie would thus full the required theatrical run and qualify for an entry into the Oscars. Even although ‘Chhello Show’ acquired an applause from Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karan Johar, Nikkhil Advani amongst others, there's a part that believes ‘RRR’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’ had been higher contenders for official choice. The choice of ‘Chhello Show’ stirred up an argument with the Film Federation of India (FFI) coming underneath the scanner over their selection. While some opposed claiming it isn't an Indian movie, others discovered a putting similarity with the 1988 Italian-French co-production ‘Cinema Paradiso’. Some even alleged that it was within the working for Oscars within the earlier 12 months as nicely. FFI President TP Agarwal tells ETimes that the makers requested the Academy to permit the movie for choice as soon as once more because it couldn't be launched earlier as a result of pandemic. "That permission was secured from the Academy. The jury members unanimously selected this movie. We are following the correct procedures," he mentioned. Setting that document straight, in at this time’s #BigStory, we glance again on the Indian choice of movies for the Oscars over time. Seeking views from filmmakers, writers, actors and critics, we consider why an Indian movie has not received an Oscar but, whether or not the choice course of wants a change, do we have to amp up our advertising within the worldwide circuits and extra. Read on. Has India had the proper choice of motion pictures for Oscars? While ‘Gandhi’ (1982) and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (2008), each set in India with a majorly Indian forged, have every bagged 8 Oscars, neither was directed by an Indian. When it involves Indian motion pictures, solely three movies have made it to the ultimate nominations – ‘Mother India’ (1957), ‘Salaam Bombay’ (1988), and ‘Lagaan’ (2001). Three of Satyajit Ray’s movies had been chosen over time, however none bagged an Oscar. The Academy nevertheless awarded the filmmaker an honorary Oscar in 1992, which was despatched to a hospital in Kolkata the place he was admitted. Shaji N Karun has been the Chairman of the jury at FFI. He believes the recognition of content material is just not a yardstick for choosing motion pictures for the Academy Awards. "Hence the case of ‘RRR’ won’t stand," he says. "They are looking for films with the flavour of the respective country. Usually, there are greater chances for films recognised by Cannes, Venice, or Berlin film festivals to make it to the Oscars. Venice Film Festival has recently wrapped up, and a French documentary ‘Saint Omer’ won the Grand Jury Prize and the award for Best Debut Feature. Austrian film ‘Corsage’ made it to Cannes this year. Looking at these films, you can understand that the type and quality of the films is what matters." Shaji nevertheless believes somebody who's aware of worldwide cinema must be part of the jury for choosing India’s entry to Oscars. President of Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association Ashoke Pandit believes the FFI has all the time had a really informal angle in direction of choice. "The same mistake was repeated this year, as in 2019 they sent ‘Gully Boy’. A private body cannot be entrusted with the responsibility of such a major decision," he argues. Producer Sheetal Talwar dragged the FFI to courtroom in 2007 for biased choice of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’ over his movie ‘Dharm’. He says the issue is that we're all the time attempting to second guess what the Academy needs to observe.
"Everyone is looking for a story that has universality, but also has the grammar of our individual language. The reality is you have to have a jury selecting based on certain criteria. We are not selecting the right films for Oscars. Some privately held organisation is choosing the films that don’t even make it to the top 5," he says. Sheetal additionally questions how lots of the jury members have seen the final 20 academy nominations. "You need directors, writers and actors choosing the films and not the producers. Producers watch cinema from a commercial point of view; whereas directors, actors, writers watch cinema from a grammar point of view. You have to make it a more democratic process and have votes, a more creative oriented process and keep producers out of it," he opines. Writer-director KL Prasad agrees we don't have an skilled jury that is aware of what works on the Oscars. Talking about ‘Chhello Show’, he says, "I haven’t watched it yet, but read its synopsis and found similarities to that of ‘Cinema Paradiso’. Therefore I felt it is not a new subject, either to the Oscars or to the other Film Festivals. Whereas the Academy jury will look at either the new subject/genre that either has human emotions that moves the audience or the technical excellence that enhances the visual storytelling platform." Shaji N Karun recollects final 12 months there have been higher entries than ‘Chhello Show’ and therefore they chose Tamil movie ‘Koozhangal’. "But this year, the entries that came with ‘Chhello Show’ were ‘RRR’ and other commercial films. The Academy Awards do not recognise a film based on its commercial potential. Human documentaries are being recognised there, and they also look at the academic aspect of a film. And only the right jury would be able to recognise it," he says. President of Telugu Film Directors Association Y Kashi Viswanath felt a bit sad over the jury not choosing the ‘RRR’ which is without doubt one of the greatest hits of the 12 months. "Our Telugu filmmakers aren’t generally very serious about awards. We either do not apply to them or apply and forget about them. Whereas other industry people will not just apply, but fight until they are given the award. Coming to ‘RRR’, I hope all good will happen to the film at least under the independent category," he says. Marathi movie producer Akshay Bardapurkar says India can have a greater choice by together with varied codecs, languages and regional movies as entries. "We need to be more proactive in giving due recognition to good films and sharing the spotlight, rather than having a myopic view. Our entries can definitely be better. The selection process in our own country needs to be inclusive. We need to create a larger, inclusive and more diverse pool of film professionals who will be involved in picking the films which go as entries," he shares. Vivek Agnihotri’s movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ was not chosen. "Just sending a film because it celebrates poverty doesn’t qualify your film," he says. "Oscars are a politically motivated award ceremony. It is a soft power of the US. So the narrative which is playing is sometimes black lives matter, sometimes about women, racial discrimination etc. They generally give awards to those kinds of films. It is highly political and you have to spend millions of dollars." Are Indian movies a great distance off from cracking the ‘Oscar formula’? 94 years and never a single Oscar for an Indian movie. Do we actually know what it takes to assert an Oscar? ‘RRR’ author KV Vijayendra Prasad says, "Oscar has no particular theory that if we do a film this way, we’ll get a nomination, in turn, the award. It is not even about art cinema. If we see the Academy winners in the past, there are out and out commercial movies such as ‘Gladiator’ (2000), ‘Braveheart’(1995), 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ (2003) that have won a lot of awards. Correspondingly, I have noticed some people who tried different genres have got some awards, also some hard-core art films too have got the awards.
Therefore, there is no particular rule/yardstick that if you try and experiment this way, you’ll get an award!" Prasad additionally notes that tradition particular motion pictures have received extra awards on the Academy. "‘Life is Beautiful’ (1997), ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ (2000), and 'Parasite’ (2019) were given awards along similar lines. ‘The Hurt Locker' (2008) has won big and competed with a huge film like ‘Avatar’ (2009) due to the strength of the content. So, our jury might have selected ‘Chhello Show’ over ‘RRR’ for the above cultural reasons, as 'RRR' might have many competitors from across the world," he provides. Filmmaker B Narasing Rao will get very vital about Indian movies as he states ‘RRR’ can't be chosen for the Oscars, as a result of it's made for box-office. "Filmmaking is a different ball game altogether than many think of what it is. There were people in the past who risked their lives to make films like ‘Ben-Hur’ (1959). If we make a film that has no time frame, no history, no honesty in filmmaking and nothing, and if you request to nominate such films for Oscars, it doesn’t work. We are inefficient filmmakers when we talk about world-class filmmaking. If you say our films are doing well overseas, they are only doing in such places where there are Indian diasporas, but not in Arab countries or other foreign countries where we have not existed!" he critiques. Film analyst Sreedhar Pillai thinks we want not compete for an Oscar. "Indian films have done extraordinarily well in the US and there is a huge market there. They can also make movies for that particular audience so they can earn accordingly well instead of making movies for Oscar. It is a good option to sell Indian movies to new markets where there is an opportunity to earn more. I strongly feel India is making good commercial films and it is perfect. If we need a movie for an Oscar then we have to make a movie that rather shows India in poor light that focuses on commercial or emotional story elements. Many have tried that in the past but it hasn't worked out," he says. Are we advertising our motion pictures internationally? Jo dikhta hai woh bikta hai and the identical applies to Oscars as nicely that receives better of one of the best entries from all over the world yearly. It would all the time add a leverage if filmmakers go on the market and market their movies within the worldwide circuits. Telugu writer-director P Sunil Kumar Reddy notes that advertising performs a vital position in Oscar alternatives, one thing that Indian productions fail to do as in comparison with different international productions. "It’s an elite group that votes at the Oscars. Therefore, one should make sure that they know about our film. This time we also have heard the names of Kajol being on the Oscar voting jury. Also, US media management plays an important role in promoting a film, such as you campaigning for your film in the US, and media reviewing your film will help to watch your film," he shares. Sunil additionally touches upon Korean cinema and Chinese productions gaining the benefit these days after the success of ‘Parasite’ and ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’. "This sort of lobbying should be done to the Indian cinema as well. Of course, we are now seeing such a thing happening for ‘RRR’ in the US," he provides. As reported by Variety, ‘RRR’ will probably be submitted for Best Picture, Director (SS Rajamouli), Original Screenplay (Rajamouli and his father KV Vijayendra Prasad), Lead Actor (for each Junior NTR and Ram Charan), Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn), Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt), Original Song (Naatu Naatu), Original Score (MM Keeravani), Cinematography, Production Design, Film Editing, Costume Design, Make-up and Hairstyling, Sound and Visual Effects. The marketing campaign will go on from October to February and may price as much as $20mn! "In the majority of the cases, our filmmakers are not applying for the nominations as we
need to pay Rs 1 lakh to consider our film for nominations, which sadly many filmmakers fail to pay," Sunil reveals. Ex-Censor Board member Machiraju Sai Prasad recollects we despatched just one Telugu movie for nominations in 55 years as a result of ‘we are not interested in such things’. "There is one Telugu filmmaker who made a film recently on 'Ego' titled ‘Aham’, and it is a sure shot film to get selected under Best Foreign Language Film category. It was also selected under the Indian Panorama section, but the producer says he is not willing to send it for the Oscars as its application fee is around Rs 1 lakh. We Indians don’t send movies under the independent category due to high Oscar fees and we have no confidence that our film will do well at the Academy Awards," he notes. Telugu filmmaker Tammreddy Bharadwaja factors out that campaigning for 'Lagaan' within the US didn't work. "Therefore we stopped such things from then. And we send one film out of 900 films that we make in a year. Therefore, several films that did well here don't go for Oscars itself for a variety of reasons and still we feel bad that we didn't get an Academy Award!" he says. How does one determine whether or not a movie is deserving or not? Here comes the large query. With a whole bunch of movies produced in India yearly in a number of languages, how does one determine which is one of the best contender for an Oscar? When artwork is so subjective, no formulation or standards can assist come right down to that one movie that's ‘deserving’. South actor Shiva Kandukuri identified for his stint in movies like ‘Choosi Choodangane’ and ‘Gamanam’ agrees, "Each individual in cinema has a different expression for emotions. However, the Oscar committee has been around for a long time that has been formed to honour films that fit into its spectrum of specifications. Although evolving, it requires that a film is present with those certain specifics." Sreedhar Pillai believes an important standards is that you have to do quite a lot of promotions. "You should make an extra effort to ensure that the film is well known there. I personally feel content is king. Any movie should have a striking contrast apart from just VFX or story line or any other element," he says. Punjabi Producer Mansi Singh jots down three issues that ought to matter on the subject of choice for Oscar, "First - what is the concept, second - how well it has been weaved with the work of a director and actor, and third - is it something that we want to stand as a representation of Indian cinema on the global platform?" Shaji feels South movies are progressively getting traction. "Earlier, the panel comprised people from the northern side of the country. But it's not like films from the South have not been chosen," he says. "The films are chosen based on their quality, and there is no point in getting emotional. We have to trust and respect the decision of the jury. Also, going forward the selection of the jury too will be scrutinised. It’s the FFI’s job, and there is no need for a debate on it." Filmmaker Ashwini Chaudhary strongly believes that a small movie, excessive on content material with common enchantment stands extra probability within the Best Foreign Language Film class than large movies. “Once a movie is formally chosen by the jury for Oscars, we as filmmakers ought to help and stand behind the movie slightly than creating pointless controversy which can hurt its possibilities on the Oscars," he asserts. Shekhar Kapur has had a private expertise of the Oscars with ‘Elizabeth’ and one other one when the then Indian authorities wrote to the Academy to not contemplate ‘Bandit Queen’. "I don’t believe this system of a single film being nominated from each country will last," he says. "It evolved at a time when the Academy members had no way to be aware of films made outside of Hollywood. Now in a global world, Academy members would be (or should be) aware of films from all over the world.
In fact, we at the Academy should do away with the category of Best Foreign Language Film, for 90% of the films in the world are not in English," he concludes with a comment to ponder upon. [ad_2] Source link
