I can totally see y/n forcing rafe to watch bollywood films like zindagi na milegi dobara and yeh jawaani hai deewani and them being so invested sharing popcorn while watching, and then y/n having to explain some of the jokes and romantic dialogue cause it doesn’t translate to english properly
YESYESYES!!!! i can totally see them watching those movies but i feel like during her period YN forces Rafe to watch romance movies with her (his favorite is Padmaavat) HE LOVES DEEPIKA DOWNNNNN!!!!!
sometimes YN pauses the movie to say some fun fact abt actor drama and even some stuff she relates to/reminds her of her country
(Rafe being a clueless white boy learning that South Asia isn't just India and that there's other languages like Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Urdu, Telugu, Bengali, etc...)
At the end of movies, they debate about their favorite parts and she teaches him some stuff to say.
Rafe puts JJ, Barry and Pope on Bollywood movies.
DESIS FOR RAFE 🇵🇰🇮🇳🇧🇩🇰🇳🇵🇧🇹🇦🇫🇲🇻
#DESIS FOR RAFE/DREW ✊#i could talk abt this for hours#she forces him to watch ramleela all the time#girls night is watching old bollywood movies#and rafe joining in and intruding#aliyah tch#asks

Stree 2 From Feminine Gaze
Bollywood has always been known for its Masala movies. Though there has been a slight turn towards more serious topics these past few years, it is refreshing when one of these entertaining, silly, music-filled movies makes a presence in front of us.
As a person who likes to dissect a show or movie scene by scene, Stree 2 is a good study. Though it can be classified as another Bollywood masala with a mix of horror thrown in for good measure, there are factors to it that my feminine gaze has caught, scenes that perhaps, if we delve deep into it, would show the societal position of women.
I am sure I would have missed a lot more things than I caught but I would still like to put focus on the scenes that have caught my attention.
Scene 1: In the beginning of the movie we listen to the conversation between the characters where they talk about how women have been leaving their small town for better opportunities. Though at first I thought it was normal but when we delve further in the movie, we find out that the women they are talking about, have supposedly left the town without informing anyone about their intention, they disappeared overnight and nobody heard from them after that.
This scene rankled me. It also shows a significant truth about society. Girls with ‘modern thinking’ somehow become this other creature in our society. They somehow become the enemy of society and their life or well-being becomes an unnecessary thing. So many girls disappeared in the middle of the night and the only conclusion drawn was that they left themselves, without any investigation or even a try at contacting them.
This problem, when considered for longer, can show why crimes against ‘modern women’ may be dismissed so easily, as if they were not done against a living breathing human.
Scene 2: The scene when they get to know only women with ‘modern thinking’ are getting kidnapped and all the household ladies argue that they would be safe from the monster because they are not modern.
Pankaj Tripathi points out that if women had social media if they were educated or they went out, all these things also make them modern.
This argument brings out the age-old situation of women themselves not realizing how they have benefited from feminism. Every generation there will be women who will scoff at feminists fighting for rights and they will not realize that whatever freedom they have at the moment came from feminists before their generation. And thus the cycle continues.
Scene 3: The biggest thing to watch for and observe is the way the monster ends up controlling the male population’s mind and makes them revert back to the thinking that is centuries old.
Here’s a comparison to be made, in the first movie we can see that Stree haunts the village, that she takes away men in dark, she calls their names and if they turn, she takes them. At no point in time is there a difference in men’s societal position, no women tell them to stay in their home the whole day or lessen their importance in their household. While the first thing done to women when the monster controls their minds is just that, control over women in every aspect of their life.
We can’t blame the male population over it of course but it's the symbolism of it all. One can always argue that the monster was created in that way but we have to remember that what happened in the movie reflects the real life that so many women still live.
It also reflects how women's freedom eventually ends up being an illusion and how it can be taken from them if they don't constantly fight for it.
There is another incident that made me laugh a lot. When JD says to Varun Dhawan, ‘You’re a werewolf, don’t behave like an Animal.’ I don’t think it will take a genius to guess what this was in reference to.
At the end, I would just like to say that this movie not only proved itself entertaining but it’s subtle nuances make it clear that the writers, directors, and the whole production team put a lot of brains behind its planning and making sure that there were a lot of messages that should not be missed. Perhaps if we had more movies like this, the old spirit of Bollywood would be back and we could be entertained while being aware of the social spirit that art should always carry.

By Vidya Krishnan
GOA, India — My niece was just 4 years old when she turned to my sister-in-law in a packed movie theater in Mumbai and asked about gang rape for the first time.
We were watching the latest Bollywood blockbuster about vigilante justice, nationalistic fervor and, of course, gang rape. Four male characters seized the hero’s sister and dragged her away. “Where are they taking Didi?” my niece asked, using the Hindi word for “elder sister.” It was dark, but I could still make out her tiny forehead, furrowed with concern.
Didi’s gang rape took place offscreen, but it didn’t need to be shown. As instinctively as a newborn fawn senses the mortal danger posed by a fox, little girls in India sense what men are capable of.
You may wonder, “Why take a 4-year-old to such a movie?” But there is no escaping India’s rape culture; sexual terrorism is treated as the norm. Society and government institutions often excuse and protect men from the consequences of their sexual violence. Women are blamed for being assaulted and are expected to sacrifice freedom and opportunity in exchange for personal safety. This culture contaminates public life — in movies and television; in bedrooms, where female sexual consent is unknown; in the locker room talk from which young boys learn the language of rape. India’s favorite profanities are about having sex with women without their consent.
It is the specific horror of gang rape that weighs most heavily on Indian women that I know. You may have heard of the many gruesome cases of women being gang-raped, disemboweled and left for dead. When an incident rises to national attention, the kettle of outrage boils over, and women sometimes stage protests, but it passes quickly. All Indian women are victims, each one traumatized, angry, betrayed, exhausted. Many of us think about gang rape more than we care to admit.
In 2011 a woman was raped every 20 minutes in India, according to government data. The pace quickened to about every 16 minutes by 2021, when more than 31,000 rapes were reported, a 20 percent increase from the previous year. In 2021, 2,200 gang rapes were reported to authorities.
But those grotesque numbers tell only part of the story: 77 percent of Indian women who have experienced physical or sexual violence never tell anyone, according to one study. Prosecutions are rare.
Indian men may face persecution because they are Muslims, Dalits (untouchables) or ethnic minorities or for daring to challenge the corrupt powers that be. Indian women suffer because they are women. Soldiers need to believe that war won’t kill them, that only bad luck will; Indian women need to believe the same about rape, to trust that we will come back to the barracks safe each night, to be able to function at all.
Reports of violence against women in India have risen steadily over the decades, with some researchers citing a growing willingness by victims to come forward. Each rape desensitizes and prepares society to accept the next one, the evil becoming banal.
Gang rape is used as a weapon, particularly against lower castes and Muslims. The first instance that women my age remember was in 1980, when Phoolan Devi, a lower-caste teenager who had fallen in with a criminal gang, said she was abducted and repeatedly raped by a group of upper-caste attackers. She later came back with members of her gang and they killed 22 mostly upper-caste men. It was a rare instance of a brutalized woman extracting revenge. Her rape might never have made headlines without that bloody retribution.
Ms. Devi threw a spotlight on caste apartheid. The suffering of Bilkis Bano — the defining gang rape survivor of my generation — highlighted the boiling hatred that Indian institutions under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a Hindu nationalist, have for Muslim women.
In 2002 brutal violence between Hindus and Muslims swept through Gujarat State. Ms. Bano, then 19 and pregnant, was gang raped by an angry Hindu mob, which also killed 14 of her relatives, including her 3-year-old daughter. Critics accuse Mr. Modi — Gujarat’s top official at the time — of turning a blind eye to the riots. He has not lost an election since.
Ms. Bano’s life took a different trajectory. She repeatedly moved houses after the assault, for her family’s safety. Last August, 11 men who were sentenced to life in prison for raping her were released — on the recommendation of a review committee stacked with members of Mr. Modi’s ruling party. After they were freed, they were greeted with flower garlands by Hindu right-wingers.
The timing was suspicious: Gujarat was to hold important elections a few months later, and Mr. Modi’s party needed votes. A member of his party explained that the accused, as upper-caste Brahmins, had “good” values and did not belong in prison. Men know these rules. They wrote the rule book. What’s most terrifying is that releasing rapists could very well be a vote-getter.
After Ms. Bano, there was the young physiotherapy student who in 2012 was beaten and raped on a moving bus and penetrated with a metal rod that perforated her colon before her naked body was dumped on a busy road in New Delhi. She died of her injuries. Women protested for days, and even men took part, facing water cannons and tear gas. New anti-rape laws were framed. This time was different, we naïvely believed.
It wasn’t. In 2018 an 8-year-old Muslim girl was drugged and gang raped in a Hindu temple for days and then murdered. In 2020 a 19-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped and later died of her injuries, her spinal cord broken.
The fear, particularly of gang rape, never fully leaves us. We go out in groups, cover ourselves, carry pepper spray and GPS tracking devices, avoid public spaces after sunset and remind ourselves to yell “fire,” not “help” if attacked. But we know that no amount of precaution will guarantee our safety.
I don’t understand gang rape. Is it some medieval desire to dominate and humiliate? Do these men, with little power over others, feeling inadequate and ordinary, need a rush of power for a few minutes?
What I do know is that other men share the blame, the countless brothers, fathers, sons, friends, neighbors and colleagues who have collectively created and sustain a system that exploits women. If women are afraid, it is because of these men. It is a protection racket of epic proportions.
I’m not asking merely for equality. I want retribution. Recompense. I want young girls to be taught about Ms. Bano and Ms. Devi. I want monuments built for them. But men just want us to forget. The release of Ms. Bano’s rapists was about male refusal to commemorate our trauma.
So we build monuments with words and our memories. We talk to one another about gang rape, keeping it at the center of our lives. We try to explain to our youngest, to start protecting them.
This is how the history of the defeated is recorded. That’s what it all boils down to: a fight between forgetting and remembering.

Gapshap is here again to entertain you.
Good evening everyone, I'm your self proclaimed host तितली (@alhad-titli)
Humans can't endure boredom... Hence we found many things to entertain ourselves with. Plays, music, books, movies, shows, and many more things.
Most of the time, we indians get rid of our boredom by watching bollywood movies (old era ofc. new bollywood is uhh well we all know what am I talking about.) No matter what kind of international web series, show, drama you may watch but you will feel home in only movies which are in your native language. We are separated by states, languages, culture but united by bollywood.
Yes today is bollywood night. There are many masterpiece movies, Mughal-e-azam, umrao jaan (both), woh kaun thi, om shanti om, kabhi khushi kabhi gam, mein hoon na, but our tonight's guest's personal favorite is "Jab we met" can you guess who's that? Keep guessing.
If geet and aditya ever come out of movie and had to say something to us then it would have been this:
Aditya: "In your opinion, what keeps a person going?"
Geet: "Golgappe yaarrrrrrr."
Aditya: "Geet, I am serious, give me an answer, tumhe ek baar me samjh nhi aata?"
Geet: *stares at him with puppy eyes*
Aditya(sighs): let me answer it, it's the love that keep us going, love has the power to change us, rebuild us, love can make a dead person alive and can also kill a living being. love hurts but its important. There are many types of love, platonic, romantic. For example, you dont like your family in many terms but you still love them right?
Geet: *nodding*
Aditya: similarly we love the love things that may hurt us , because those things those people are our people . love is simple and very complex at th esame time its fragile like a bomb but remember in all these ups an downs of life dont forget to love yourself and the people around you .
Geet: *glares at him*
Aditya: so Geet meri sardarni, tell me who do you love the most now ???
Geet: *laughs* golgappeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
Aditya sighs and takes her on date.
Back to reality everyone.
"Geet is not only person who loves pani puri" I said. Who else love it? We, brown GIRLS idiot.
But but the girl who loves panipuri the most is our own @mainapnifavouritehoon humari desiblr ki professional simple and desi girl.
Vo sab to theek hai but it's golgappeeeeee not pani puri *says chai* (@masalalala-chaii)
*Smacking her head!* Ignore her guys please.
Let us start the interview with rapid fire questions.
So Geet tell us,
About yourself, your blog.
What kind of vibes you want to give by your blog?
how you became simp for him? *ahm ahm*
And you golgappe wali come with me at the backstage for a second, let's have a talk. *Smiling and dragging chai away with her dupatta trying my best to not strangle her with it.*
So Arunima, the stage is all yours now. Do bhangra or whatever you want here.

I love you like a dog (consumed, yours, yours)
Abhinav doesn't know what happened, but one moment he is standing in the kitchen of his house and suddenly, Dev is striding in the kitchen, dressed to the fucking nines.
Abhinav blinks.
And blinks again.
And. Fine. He knows Dev is a beautiful, attractive man. He knows it for four years, all the while sharing the flat with this beautiful man and seeing him everyday. Abhinav has seen him in all various settings. Dev in casual clothes, Dev in his night clothes, Dev in his formals, Dev in his gym clothes, Dev in traditional clothes, and on a couple memorable times— Dev shirtless. (Abhinav wants to draw him. He wishes he had enough talent to draw Dev and show the masterpiece that the man is. He knows he's not talented enough and it eats at him everyday, so he decides to use Dev as a model for his photographs for as many projects as possible.)
Abhinav raises an eyebrow. Whilst they do share the flat, they both have this unspoken agreement to not talk about their dating lives unless it's very serious. Otherwise? Things stay out of the doorway of the house unless it's the fourth date, Abhinav has practised.
Dev, though? Dev has people falling head over heels for him and that blind idiot doesn't even know half the time. Half the time, Abhinav has to let in some mooning girl or boy and watch them as they make heart eyes at Dev, who would be apologising profusely for making them wait. (Dev has never been punctual in his entire life. Abhinav finds that if it were any other person who made him wait half an hour without reasonable cause, that person would have been dead and buried. Dev smiles and Abhinav rolls his eyes and that's it. All is fine and forgiven.)
Dev blushes a bit under scrutiny. "What? Do I look bad?"
He's dressed in formal clothes and usually, that's very normal for him and his teaching job. Today, though? He's wearing a suit. The top two buttons of his white shirt are unbuttoned, and he even has a red pocket square. It makes him look positively delicious.
"You look too good to be going to teach barely eighteen year olds who will all fantasize about you while you talk about the Chola Empire." Abhi tells him, disinterestedly going back to the tea he was making. "You got a date, professor? Should I pack you an overnight bag—"
"Don't be crude," Dev admonishes, swatting at Abhi's shoulder but smiles and blushes regardless. "It's bollywood day at college today. The kids specially requested that I participate."
"Oh, are you Amitabh Bachchan from Don?" Abhinav is just shooting his shot here. Dev is a fan of old movies, and Abhi is pretty sure that Dev is wearing the most generic outfit ever, but it is only looking good because of Dev's hair and shoulders.
Dev grins smugly. "Better. I'm Vinod Khanna from Chandni."
"The one who didn't get either of the girls he fell in love with?"
Abhinav slaps a hand on his mouth as he says it and Dev hits him again, this one actually stinging a bit. Abhi shrugs. Dev glares at him, huffing as he took a bite out of the pulao Abhi had made for Dev's lunch. "Fuck you." He says with his mouth full, knowing that it's disgusting as fuck. "At least he had style. Who can pull off Juhi Chawla and Sridevi?"
"And Rishi Kapoor. I haven't seen the movie but that one song looks like they're both in love. In a weird 'no homo bro' way." Abhinav says, pouring the tea for both of them. Dev, as always, takes the first sip almost instantly and hums, closing his eyes for a moment as he savours it. He's weirdly immune from heat. Abhi sometimes thinks he's a mutant or a robot.
Or maybe an alien.
Or a fae?
He's broken out of his semi-regular train of thought when Dev snorts. "And Rishi Kapoor. Honestly, you should see the movie. The premise of the song is like the start of a Hallmark movie." He takes a Parle-G biscuit to the tea, and Abhinav waits for the moment that will come again, like everyday.
Everyday, Dev dips a biscuit in his tea. Half of the biscuit gets broken and soggy and drowns in the cup. Dev uses the rest of the half in his hand to get to the drowned biscuit. Abhinav passes him a spoon. Dev bashfully takes it. Next day, they repeat the cycle.
And it happens again, today too. Abhi laughs. "You know, you've been drowning your biscuits in your tea for four years now. Please, learn better. It's pathetic to see you struggle."
"I'll kill you in your sleep." Dev says casually, finishing the rest of his tea and grabbing his bag, which already has his water bottle and lunch, thanks to Abhi. Honestly, Abhi should be getting compensation for taking such good care of the man. A kiss wouldn't be a bad start.
Abhi cackles as he follows Dev to the door and just to be obnoxious, he loudly says,"Love you too, honey!"
Dev snorts and waves his hand as the doors of the lift close.
____________________________________________________
Dev suffers through the rest of the day as his students and his colleagues, all make wrong assumptions of his outfit. Though, almost half of them don't know that he planned to participate. This is apparently an exclusive students' thing. The teachers are always discreet, if participating.
He wonders when the college has become so...boring. The faculty of arts is supposed to be cool, damn it. And these assholes set up a seminar for the kids all over the faculty, every department. Something about art and different forms of art.
And really, if you want to celebrate art, is a seminar the right way to go about it?
"Sir, come on, the seminar will start soon, please, help me with the projector!" Bhavana ma'am calls him, her soft tone almost urgent. The woman is the age of Dev's mom and is the sweetest part of the faculty. Obviously, she's the librarian.
Dev smiles at her and nods, following her and struggling with the goddamn computer and projector. He wonders if the college has replaced the tools from back when he was a student. He doesn't think he's gonna like the answer.
Dev sighs, gets up on a ladder and fixes the projector. His phone buzzes in his pocket, the notification sounds that of a flute. Dev knows that notification tone, it's the customised tone he's set for whenever Abhinav texts. He usually doesn't text when Dev is in college, so he wonders about the sudden influx of texts.
"Wait a second, you dick." Dev mutters under his breath as he puts away the ladder. Finally, as he's away from prying eyes, he opens the texts.
The first one is a photo of him, standing on the ladder, making an ugly face and fiddling with the projector. The others are in a line.
Abhi (home): you're sure you're a teacher and not... Non teaching faculty?
Abhi (home): did i walk into the set of a bad star plus serial?
Abhi (home): should I save you? Will you stare into my eyes and try to kiss me?
Abhi (home): ew tho. clean your glasses and we'll discuss
Abhi (home): fuck i can't get caught texting gtg seeya
"What the fuck?" Dev mutters as he whips his head around to look for the spot Abhi must be at.
His phone buzzes again.
Abhi (home): who are you looking for discount Vinod Khanna?
Ooohhh who's that dick who bitches about your teaching skills?
Abhi (home): i have a bat in the car, babe, you just gotta say it. There's no cameras, no one will know
Without meaning to, Dev laughs out loud as he looks at Karan, the guy from the Fine Arts department who organised this seminar and who's the dick that Abhi is referring to. Dev is pretty sure that the seminar is Karan idea. He's a male version of Umbridge and Dev wants to strangle him, but unfortunately Karan is the deputy director of the department of fine arts. And even being the best faculty of Department of history, Dev can't afford a useless feud.
He looks around again, but he can't see Abhi anywhere.
You: Where the fuck are you? Did you come here to kill Karan?
Abhi (home): Karan, HAH. He's dead. Dw.
Do you know how to get blood stains off (jk there won't be a body, let alone blood.)
You: abhi no
Abhi (home): say that to my face before i kill this Karan and maybe I'll consider
Find me
You: give me one min
Dev turns towards the student body president of department of literature. "Raashi, hi," he smiles at her, ignoring the notification in his hand blatantly. "Do we have any Abhinav Deshmukh in this seminar?"
Raashi makes a confused face but nods. "Yes, sir, he's the speaker for photography! We have a speaker for every medium of art. Photography, poetry, writing, singing, linguistics, drawings."
Dev thanks her and rushes backstage.
And that is his idiot roommate and crush. Abhi has his back turned towards him so he doesn't know that Dev is coming. He's typing something on the phone.
Karan, who had moved to the backstage at some point and was standing across Abhinav, raises an eyebrow at Dev in disdain. Dev realises that Abhi is being purposefully rude by using his phone while Karan is trying to talk to him.
He grins.
He loved it when Abhi got petty. It is his default setting, almost. Abhi upturns his nose, sneers at the person and looks at them from beneath his eyelashes like they are the mud beneath his shoes. And when he actually does take some revenge, he smirks, runs a hand at the back of his neck and shrugs, all dainty and sweet as if he didn't ruin someone's day.
Dev has seen Angry Abhi, Passionate Abhi, Happy Abhi, Caffeine-high Abhi, Sleepy Abhi. But his favourite type of Abhi is Petty Abhi. Smug, self righteous, cocky bastard Abhi.
Karan clears his throat and glares at him when Dev hasn't yet moved again. "Dev sir, please, go and help in sitting arrangements. The volunteering students will love your company."
The sentence is barely complete but Abhi turns around nonetheless. He grins and walks up to Dev casually, his leather jacket flicking with his walk. He looks suave and Dev is stuck at the spot like a teenager watching his crush for the first time. Really, four years of staying together and Dev is always stuck by how wonderfully better Abhi is.
"Will Vinod Khanna from Chandni accept Maddy from Rang De Basanti?" Is the first thing Abhi says and that's when Dev realises that Abhi is dressed like Madhvan's character from Rang De Basanti. The leather jacket says it all.
(Dev remembers getting a crush on Maddy while watching the movie. Dev remembers yapping about it again and again and again to Abhi, who rarely ever watched any movies. The only movies he'd ever watched were the ones Dev had dragged him to see at the theaters.)
"Gladly." Dev says.
Abhi grins bashfully, looking down for a split second before looking up again. "As you should. I had to wander three places for two hours to get this specific jacket. I was on a time crunch too! Can I get a 'excellent work' wala sticker?"
The realisation that Abhi dressed as his favourite character, that he went out and worked for hours to find the exact jacket which was often the center of Dev's ramblings, that Abhi was being passive aggressive to the man who invited him to an event in the most prestigious Art college in the state. Everything, everything just made Dev want to grab him and just keep him in his arms forever.
"You look amazing, Abhi." He says, and it's true and it's one of the rare days because Abhi blushes at the compliment.
(Dev remembers the last time Abhi blushed like that. When Dev kissed him in the Truth and Dare thing. Something has been shimmering between them since then, Dev knows, but he also knows that he won't do anything to fuck up his friendship with Abhi.)
Karan makes himself known again, unfortunately. "You know Dev, Mr. Deshmukh?"
Abhi glares sharply at Karan from the corner of his eyes and a sharp intake of breath. And Dev. Dev is a weak man, okay? He's already dreamt about a domestic life with Abhi last night and really, Abhi being in his space and proudly coming to Dev and siding with him just does something to him.
"Associate professor Singh," Abhi emphasizes, still glaring,"has been my best friend for years now. He is the most wonderful men I've ever met and the only reason I agreed to come to this seminar is because I get to see him more. Do try to be more mindful of your tone, Professor." He leans in Karan's space, snarling, almost. "You are blessed to be in his presence. Do not make me take actions to make you realise the consequences of your callous actions."
Karan looks at Dev to help him. Dev is busy looking at Abhi and wondering just how he even managed to befriend such a delightful man.
Karan steps back and looks at Dev. "You called your attack dog to feel safe?"
"Shall I bite off your throat and show you how well trained I am?" Abhi snarls before Dev can say anything. The casual acceptance that Abhi is his, his, his, Dev's, moves something inside him.
Dev stretches his hand and without needing to say a word, Abhi grabs the hand and lets himself be dragged away, surely still glaring at Karan. Abhi is one of India's most famous photographers and he's allowing himself to be manhandled and dragged by a mere history professor. It's a show of his trust and confidence.
Dev lets them both into the empty library through the other door at the backstage. "Why the fuck is your auditorium connected to your library? What kind of architecture is that?" Abhi asks.
Dev shrugs, not knowing the answer himself. He stops them at what is 'his desk' when he comes to check papers for the kids of other departments and uses the library. Abhi, that fidgety man, wastes no time in climbing up and sitting on the desk. For once, Dev doesn't mind at all.
"Did you come here for me?"
For a moment, Dev thinks he could be wrong. Maybe Abhi just said that to rile up Karan. He's always been easy to anger. For a moment, Dev thinks Abhi will lie to his face. He has seen Abhi take long glances at him, seen Abhi go to extra efforts to make sure Dev is comfortable. He's seen Abhi stare at his lips.
"Yes." Abhi breathes finally, looking at his fidgeting hands. Dev stops the moments by covering the hands with one of his own.
"Did you get this jacket and dress up for me?"
"Embarrassingly enough, yes. I wanted to surprise you. Pleasantly."
"Did you just threaten an arguably influential man for me?"
Abhi rolls his eyes now. "They invited a bunch of nobodies, Dev. The whole seminar is dependent on me and me alone. For their PR, for the student satisfaction. If I tell him to name you the next Dean of the college, he will fucking have to."
"You are too nice," Abhi says, almost accusingly. Dev wants to curl into Abhi. "You may be righteous, but I can be a bitch. And I will have no regrets."
Dev falls forward and rests his head in the crook of Abhi's neck. He wraps his arms around Abhi and after a second, he feels Abhi wiggle around to get comfortable and return the hug.
"I love you so much," Dev murmurs against Abhi's skin. "Sweetest man on earth, my favourite person ever. You're everything."
He feels Abhi tense in his arms. "Doubt, sir. Is this "I want to spend the rest of my life with you" type of love or is this "you're my best friend" type of love? Imt getting mixed signals here."
Dev chuckles. "The type of love where I want to kiss you again and compliment you everyday for the rest of my life and I want to introduce you to my family as the best choice made by a member of the Singh family."
"In that case, I must admit," Abhi starts to say very seriously and pauses for a beat. Dev holds his breath. "I love you too."
Dev doesn't cuss at him but it's a near thing. He settles for swatting at Abhi's back.
"This is domestic abuse!" Abhi says indignantly.
"Not yet."

Century of Love Live Blogging
For a couple weeks before this show's release, I had been getting some DaouOffroad videos on my Twitter timeline and man, I was really getting into them despite never having watched Love in Translation. I knew this was releasing 2 eps a week and the concept was interesting enough, so was eyeing this for live-watching since like July 2, a week before the show released. Now I'm finally watching it after my other on-air shows (My Stand-In, Wandee Goodday) are done and 6 episodes of this have released. People seem to be really liking this, even though some people were critical about the concept once the trailer was released. Hope I love it, I enjoyed To Sir, With Love which I think is the same team? Gotta love a lakorn BL.
Ep 1 (July 27)
1-1
1924
old-timey lakorns really do have the same vibes as the indian serials or historical bollywood movies, loveee
the graphics when San's being healed are killing me
San and Wad are cute from the 2 seconds we get to see of them lol
tragedy strikes
eat half of the stone now -> body frozen for a hundred years but endure pain every night -> Vad feeds second half to him when they reunit and San's body returns to normal
1944, 1974, 2004 - so it's like a new generation of the Savant/shring caretaker's family
2024 - 100 year anniversary
100smth-year-old young-looking San is so funny, especially the grandpa calling San great grandpa
so true, young Juu teaching old ass great grandpa San about victim blaming
Juu is soo cute omg
omg a century's worth of wounds and injuries reopen every night?!?! girl, love cannot be worth this much pain
1-2
2 more months left until March 15
pls this would've been romantic and beautiful if this was a different show and her name is even Wad
SanVee first meeting
ah, Vee just moved here, so that's why they just met
1-3
omg the make-shift red string of fate in front of the goddess
the ring going to Vee, how cute
Juu is seriously sooo attractive
Khun Wad reminds me of Namtan a bit
Vee is quite charming
incredible lack of dust underneath that cabinet
San being charmed by Vee despite not wanting to be
I wonder if Vee knows he likes men/knows he's starting to like San? He seems like he'd know
1-4
okay Vee knows
I know this scene is a dream that San's having, I wonder how it was watching it without knowing that omg they went from 0 to a 100 for seemingly no reason
120smth year old grandpa's wet dream smh
Vee reminds me of somebody but who... I thought it was Lee Dohyun for a second but I don't think so. Maybe OnePact Oh Seongmin??
Suchhh a good first episode. I was anticipating this show and really hoping I like it and so far, it's great. Can't wait to watch ep 2.
Ep 2 (July 27)
cryinggg at San going to tell Tao about his wet dream
Vee has a sick grandma. I think I read about this
Actually I think I also read a stray post or tweet about grandma and Vee living same man, so I’m gonna assume this guy who saved grandma as a little kid is San lol
not the kind pratfall kiss
loll Juu knows about the dream and being able to perform again
hmm this uncle who made a bad investment… is the police record real
a literal tiny child 120smth year old great grandpa!!!!! I was spoiled about this too but omg
not Vee being in trouble and chased the way San kind of was in ep 1 beginning
lmfao San finding a way to get Vee's birth time, location details
Juu: "If you can't accept that he's a man, then just have him complete the ritual and part ways." okay I was thinking this esp because some people are guessing a bit that maybeeee Vee actually isn't Vad reincarnated. So if that theory's true, maybe San will indeed meet the correct reincarnation and just have them feed him the stone but continue being in love with Vee?
Vee saying what comes to his mind but it clearly stings deeply for San. Vee saying that he wouldn't want the other person to wait if he were Wad because when would he come back, what if he looks different, what if he has a worse personality, like omg these are all San's current struggles
who took that video of San healing? was it Vee or somebody else?
Vee possibly linked to a shady businessman who searches for the 5-coloured stone
oh, the people are straight up robbing them for the stone
omg, San is so mean to Vee here yelling at him about the stone and calling him a thief and letting it slip that he'd done a background search on him
but if indeed Vee knew about San and is after the stone, then Vee is a great actor within the show
ah, the shady businessman
Ep 3 (July 28)
wtf the Youtube vids don't have English subs? agh
dang, unexpected time to turn into a child
pls San has never needed to think of a name for the kid version? I guess he can just use San because usually it's not like people know that he's related to San somehow
plsss not the naked San + Vee toppling over him + fall into the bathtub and turning the shower on + the family all coming home and seeing them
ah, marriage is brought up because of this
aw, Vee got framed for that criminal record bank account thing. the bank account fraud also reminded me of DFF
Vee's lack of money or status reminds San of how he originally was with Khun Wad
ever since I first saw the clips of the scene of San describing who he loves and their characteristics and Vee being like "o! that describes me!" it has reminded me of a very similar scene with a different Vee... Love Mechanics Mark telling Vee his ideal type's character traits and Vee being like oh! I fit all of them! even though he fits none loll
dang, he's plainly telling his grandmother about the fake wedding and getting paid for it and she doesn't seem to care. kinda interesting, i'd expect more scolding and disapproval
don't hide your face in the towel you were using to clean her feet!
but Vee doesn't deny liking San oof
the uncle guy doesn't approve of the wedding, who would have guessed?
San being so grouchy to vee during the wedding while Vee's trying his best and is so smiley >:(
ahh the serendipitous bride veil
I wonder if Vee will ever ask why they call San Great Great Grandfather lmao
not the attacks and gunshot wounds! how must San feel to see Vee take a bullet for him when Wad had died that way
Vee finally finds out about San's situation and the stone + that he's maybe/maybe not Wad's reincarnation
I think I saw something about Vee trying to steal the stone... will it be for his grandmother?
kinda bad acting when Vee's sad about his grandma but the situation is indeed devastating and he's going through so much
beautiful, gorgeous Juu
Ep 4 (July 28)
Vee's plan to steal the stone step #1: start living in the house lol
my poor fucking Vee fr
stoppp San being rude and clippy but still being like if you want anything tell Juu + puts some meat on Vee's plate
San's nightly pain and horrors being stopped by touching and being near Vee omg, this show is soooo good and handles the tropes so well
"It must hurt a lot... but it's better than being dead, right Phi?" Vee... it might be worth it for San who has a mission but it's senseless to have your grandmother go through that when she has lived a full life
the first night in a 100 years since he's had good sleep was when Vee was near him, running his hand through his hair, like bruh the tropes and the implications!!
this annoying ass uncle mans
I think it'd be nice if Vee really isn't the reincarnated Wad but just shares the same fate as people keep saying
ah, Vee going sneaking and getting caught by San, though he managed to not give his position away
Aw, San's kinda cute, putting on the music and smiling while watching Vee go through the photos and such
yaas bisexual king Vee who's dated and messed around with men and women lol
grandpa San having a breakdown hearing about homosexuality like whelp you're gonna have to come to terms with it sometime
not Juu telling Vee about San's horny dream about him to console him and tell him that San's actually into him lmfaooo
Vee's next plan is to seduce San lol but Vee looks so good with slightly messy hair standing at the doorway omg
San to Vee: "Where your clothes at?"
kitsune Vee! San's wet dreams are great lol and the water glass motif in all of them too lmfaoo
girl you're married! fuck meditation, go have sex with your husband
a fake stone in place of the real one?
oh man, cliffhanger with injured Vee who found the (fake I guess) 5-coloured stone but then was stabbed by one of the guys searching for it who then took it from him. + the grandpa got taken too.
also the robber guy has to be the annoying uncle mans right
Ep 5 (July 28/29)
as expected, the uncle is in kahoots with the stone stealers
damn, San meant that the doctor was a fraud who doesn't know about the stone's realities, right? not that the doctor was working with San or anything. because mans got shot in the head
hmmm Suchat and them escape, right?
San being so nice to injured Vee, cooking for him and feeding him
ah, especially because San believe Vee got injured in a fight to protect the stone from the thieves, not knowing that Vee was stealing it himself
the stone stealing has to come back some time later for angst purposes, right? can't be a secret forever...?
ah, the Prince Trai who killed Wad accidentally is back as Wee's friend and doctor Third
omg nightmare where Wee takes Wad's place in the dying scenario...
damn, San even being rude to Third who's like ...? but hmm why did San seem familiar to him, did he just happen to see him around or is he really reincarnated Trai and somehow remembers from his past life?
lol Vee really invited Third to San and the family's house to hang out pls
San seething with jealousy and stalking Vee lol
Vee being like wow this grumpy poser dinosaur sure reminds me of San
I was wondering if San and Juu were gonna be seen at the back when they were taking selfies! he just saw it later
ahhhh San doesn't quite want to reaaaally find Wad (as he's falling for Vee) but that obviously makes him feel confused and aimless
Love to see Vee being straightforward like don't be controlling and say what you mean, i don't like to guess
ahhh cute cute cute even though they didn't actually kiss
Ep 6 (July 29/30)
insecure San
ahh the perfume wrist sniffing scene i’ve seen around so much lately
not Vee going to get hotpot with Third
what a gracious back down from Third compared to the gun! that Trai had brought out lol
ahh I thought Vee was gonna come from behind and hear the confession and it’ll be a comedic moment but it just became angsty though i wonder if Vee hadn’t actually heard… and is trying to avoid San bc of it…
them looking at each other and smiling as Juu guides Vee up the stairs to get ready is sooooo good
ah date and dance
okayyyy Vee did indeed hear
confession and kiss ahh
okkk i was wondering if i can continue watching this on my phone at work (i’ve been watching this ep on phone) but uhhh they are shirtless and maybe sleep together so ig id rather not. will watch when i get home today huhu
now what does San even know about sex, man hasn’t had a boner for a century
ok vee started leading the sex thing after a bit
idk whether to believe Vee really is the reincarnation or not
oh, grandma and San became friends afterwards, I thought San and her only met like once when he apparently saved her
grandma and grandson in love with the same man reminds me of Blank where mother, father, daughter all loved one woman loll
Nuwa is crying and the weird dreams…
omg a kuhn wad lookalike/real reincarnation? is she for real or is she possibly sent by the enemies?
I sooo wish the YouTube episodes were subbed bc it’s a hassle to watch it on random sites lol and i can’t just easily download it for commute
omg antsy teaser for next ep, so glad I only have to wait one day and that we’re getting 2 eps within the next 48 hours. I'm excited to see what questions and conflict and angst is in store.
Ep 7 (July 31)
I'm getting to watch this finally 7 hours after its release. I hope it breaks my fucking heart.
the thing is i kinda want her to be rencarnation fr bc its angsty and means more if san still chooses vee but also i just don't think shes her fr
san didn't even do anything fr he caught a scared crying girl in his arms but ig it can seem that way when you don't know the background info...
I need her to say something from her memory that nobody else except her and San would know because he might've told somebody else/the nephew-uncle mans and he might've told the new Wad if she is indeed a ploy from him
damn, they're just showing every single step to get this stone
the stone not giving a clear answer but still San can die if the wrong Wad reincarnation feeds it to him oof
Ouchhhh Vee being like "at first I thought she's stealing you from me but in fact, I'm the one who came later" as he's leaving San's place back to his own. but San's gotta stop him cmonn
good Vee and San still sleeping in the same bed
she's too insistent on Vee giving up San + her being the real Wad, hmmm. like girl you don't actually even know San
...Wadfah said she remembered... but Third walked right beside her, did she not realize that he looks exactly like the guy who killed her?
oof, Vee really wants to save his grandma with this stone. girl it already bestows a lifetime of pain on San, your grandma's gonna get even more fucked up if you feed this to her without San's permission since the stone's tied to him
at least Vee's telling the grandma about it instead of secretly feeding the stone to her, whew
Vee's so naive and eager and sad and DESPERATE when it comes to his grandma owwww this convo so sad
Wadfah trying to sow discord... I mean she's correct that Vee did steal the stone to save his grandma but... she's too eager to declare she doesn't think Vee is trustworthy... then again, if we were following a story of a reincarnated Wad who comes to the house to find somebody else has been thought of have been her and is living the life that's supposed to be hers and has fooled everybody into trusting them, we'd be on Wadfah's side in this story
San in tears after confirmation that Vee stole the stone omgggg
THIS IS SO FUCKING SAD, THE WHOLE FAMILY FEELING BETRAYED and the story of Vee trying to originally steal it resurfacing even though they thought he'd tried to protect this whole time omggg
returning the ring !!! T.T
nooo San steal loving and believing in Vee and calling after him owowowowowowowwwwww T.T
aw man Vee living with Third for now
stoppp don't think about the cute good and hot times while looking at your bed you shared with Vee, San :( also they do a whole lot of flashbacks to scene we've seen (and repeatedly too like 5 times seeing flashbacks of the same scene), so I'm glad that they showed a completely new cute scene of them together.
this fucking perfume coming up multiple times T.T
ahhh San's intense confrontation with Third omg, this was so good and it felt in character with both of them and the amount of drama/the conclusions that people drew from the confrontation also made sens
okay I just feel like San should at least bring up Wadfah's lack of reaction to seeing Third what the hell
nooo my poor Juu crying nooooooooo
San kneeling in front of Wadfah gave me a heart attack like omg 120smth year old guy please get up
OH MY GOD WE'RE REALLY GETTING SAN CHOOSING VEE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER HE IS WAD OR NOT AHHHH
now why did it start raining and thunder and lightning appears
girl, Wadfah outright asking for the 5 coloured stone... if the antagonists sent her, then they could've sent her to get the strong from San out of his own will
tears down Nuwa's face pls
whelp goodbye stone. i don't think San has another stone decoy to give to her
ah, he's again weak and in pain as the stone is far away
Wadgah's delighted smile while looking at the stone...
The angst is so good because it's something tangible and real and has been leading up to this for the whole show and there are so many people involved like San and Vee but also the family and Wadfah and the stakes are so high (100 years of waiting, true love, death if we have the wrong person, etc.). Becuase of it all, the angst doesn't feel over-dramatic or drawn-out, like this is big enough that people would be having these sorts of reactions. Similarly with San and Third's conflict, that was also violent and dramatic but it makes sense that San would get angry with Third because he's been jealous of him from the beginning and can't let go of Third's past life Trai's crimes while Trai is like mad but not over-the-top until he sees Wadfah and thinks San cheated and so everything came crashing down; the escalation to the punch and yelling made sense then. ahhh so good
I got San choosing Vee without knowing whether he's the real Wad or not, which was great and incredible (even though it hasn't led to their romance again yet) and even gave up his fucking stone for it. We also know Wadfah isn't really a good person and was after the stone. Ideally for me, I think the show would have Wadfah indeed be Wad's reincarnation but just be a different, worse person - not the same Wad as a century ago, the same way Third is a better person than Trai a century ago (unless he too is hiding something and is secretly a villain...). So have Vee and San end up together even though Vee's not Wad. However, I think maybe Vee really is Wad because somebody's gonna have to feed San that stone and if Wadfah's not a good person, we're gonna have to have Vee do it. so idk maybe neither of them are 1-1 Wad's reincarnation since we know both Vee and Wadfah share similar fates? and were born same time and place nad the stone glowed for them both... so maybe Vee and Wadfah could both have the power to feed San and Vee ends up doing it.
What a good episode omg
Although that's not to say everything was perfect and dandy; I think some more reasoning or conflict from Vee's end about stealing the stone would have been good. Like stealing it again without any thought to San? crazy. they should've at least had something like Vee believes very strongly that San would be fine without the whole stone, just a little bit. or like when Vee asks San for the stone, we don't see what San says except no but maybe they could've had San downplay the problems if the stone was gone and just been like no, not worth it to make your grandma be in pain, making Vee think there aren't too many consequences from San's end. or SOMETHING because it's wild how callously he just stole it and ran. or at least stronger sense of regret once he come out of the panic of thinking his grandma was dying and being like omg what have i done? i was in a zone when thinking about my grandma dying that i didn't stop to think omg like at least acknowledge it on text.
Also, Wandee’s necklace returning scene was a let-down fr, so I’m glad it hurt more and had more weight here
Okay somebody mentioned that in First Love, Again (I've watched this kbl but don't remember a single thing), the reincarnation started 1 cycle earlier and during that time the 2 men were together? or smth? and so maybe there was an earlier incarnation of Vee and San and then San and Wad came later. Also I'm nosy and forgot and so went to look through First Love Again, wasted 10 minutes of my time but couldn't find that part while skimming. whelp
Ep 8 (Aug 1)
ummmm why did I see some screenshots on Twitter with San clutching Vee's (??) body on the floor and crying... If this episode doesn't end happily/ends on a cliffhanger, I'm gonna lose my shit
ouchh San and Vee's scene
kiss w/ tear-striken faces aw
damn the ash baggie got lost so quick
Third is here too
not the "I don't wanna live if it's not with you" and resignation to die in a few weeks without the damn stone. San I'll smack you
okay they made up hehe hug
loll maybe Third really is a clueless nice dude like I've been hoping. confused af at these revelations
bro i'm so freaking sleepy but i also wanna finish watching this episode...
Juu my beloved finally realized Wadfah not recognizing Third is weird
lol not her being a seasoned criminal okayyyyy let’s go loll
fake stone trick again
man i can’t chill knowing that those screenshots exist like Vee probably gonna get shot this episode
did Chen and whoever keep the fake stone or give it back to wadfah bc it’s annoying if they kept it
not them all actingggg lmfao both Wad and San’s side putting up a play
ah oof, the stone not with Wadfah, I wonder if she will also come up with some fake stone to trick
oh nvm she got the stone from Chen unless They gave her a fake stone lmfaooo
they’re so fucking cute man
now why is San the bold one while Vee is shy, Vee’s the one who was talking about fucking people loll
cryingggg at Juu swearing on Dr. Tao’s life that the fake stone is the real stone lmfaoo
ohhh omg we’re the screenshots from San’s vision that Nuwa gave him?
girl i’m nervous the stone gonna suddenly stop glowing
lmfaoooo just in time
replicas so good neither of them can tell the difference?!
oh it’s flowing for Vee fr
are they gonna have to team up with Wadfah?
the shooting is very funny idk
the end?! girl what the hell
Pretty enjoyable show so far, I think the writing for this is quite strong, which is fairly rare. Hope the next 2 episodes hold up and that the show ends well.

Ola...
Well I knew nothing about Tumblr and my niece used to tell me stories like crazy so yes, here I am.
Didn't know what to write initially.
Finally after hit n trial of 4 5 days here I am with my first ever post on Tumblr galaxy.
I am an avid viewer of horror and thrill movies.
And yesterday I got to watch "WELCOME HOME" (Bollywood)
Though it's an old one but I watched it after seeing numerous posts and reels about its one clip.
And here's all about it.
Firstly this movie revolves around 2 girls
🔹Anuja
🔹Neha
Both were living around toxic people.
Anuja had toxic father and a fiancé. Her mother passed away.
While Neha's parents made her live with her elder brother. He was toxic too.
Anuja wanted to do job as a teacher.
She got a job.
And the day before her first day at work, her fiance insisted her to get married as soon as possible plus he wanted her to leave the job bcz his mother was against it.
After this, she stopped responding to him.
Finally first day at job!
Beep beep... Call from her daddy!
Unfortunately instead of wishing her luck as a good father he said:
"Who will marry you? Do what he says! If his mother wants you not to work don't do it!"
Kindda sad, right?
Well at the school she met Neha.
She partnered with her for the task i.e.
Population Calculation
One of the alloted areas was a house in isolated area.
After a lot of search they found the home where a girl with innocent smile and eyes full of fear n hope welcomed them.
This girl was Prema and she was pregnant.
Anuja nd prema asked her about the family members, to which she said only 4....
🔹Prema
🔹Her Grandmother
🔹An old man (revealed later that he is prema's father)
🔹A cook
Upon being asked about her kids, she replied very innocently and was kindda terrified continously looking back to see if anyone was coming...
There were some, they took birth, cry and die.
Ughh imagine what a mother would go through.
Anuja and neha were in shock that grandmother appeared and they left the house where the cringe smile of the cook (named Bhola) said goodbye to them.
But this conversation was stuck in Anuja's mind and she was determined to find the truth.
And she somehow convinced Neha to visit the same place again.
Neha… though afraid, agreed.
They visited again.
This time they met every family member except Prema.
Upon asking, they got to hear - She is Sick.
This time, again, the baby had died, revealed by grandmother.
When they were about to leave, a huge rain stopped them and they decided to stay at the house until the rain stops.
But the rain didn't stop... Bad Luck.
Both were terrified and exhausted.
Not catching any good vibes.
While Bhola staring at Neha in a seductive way making her feel uncomfortable.
At night he came to their room to serve water, and got to know nobody from their family knows that they are away.
This made him talk and comvince the old man to let him use the girls for pleasure. (sexual one, don't assume it to be playing chess with them lolz)
Fun fact: The old man refused.
Oops, disappointed Bhola.
On the other hand, both Anuja anf and Neha were terrified to death. All they did was peep out of window.
And suddenly they saw the old man going towards a hut kindd thing with the dead body.
Imagine how fearful would they be.
They decided to go n see.
They did.
Found a bleeding man chained and left to die.
They wanted to escape.
But they had lost their phones.
Ugh... Shit. They forgot their mobile phone in room.
So they somehow managed to come back to room.
Anf now all ways to escape were close.
So they decided to wait till the morning.
But but but.
Climax : Grandma knew about it and she revealed it to that old man the moment Anuja and Neha were leaving.
How can he let the family secret be exposed?
No matter how much Neha and Anuja tried to escape, Bhola and Old man kidnapped them and locked them.
Feeding them.
Beating them inhumanely.
Tortured them.
Days passed.
Months passed.
They got assaulted.
They struggled to survive.
And go
Anuja's fiancé kept on searching for her, so did Neha's brother.
No signs of their existence.
They thoughts, both girls betrayed them and ran away with some men.
While the girls were beaten.
They found the way out but caught again and again.
One day, Neha's bro found the place, and saw Neha's pic on the ground.
Guess what happened?
He was killed.
He got his head bashed in.
This day the bleeding man wad killed too. INSANE..
That exact moment, Neha was about to escape.
But her scream when she saw her brother being killed, got her captured.
Thia time the punishment was too cruel to be ignored.
She was left to be fucked by Bhola.
She was raped, slapped, beaten.
And Anuja when tried to seek help for her, was made to see Neha being fucked.
One night, the family's most precious cage where they kept their cow got burned, leaving them cry for the loss.
This night, Prema met Neha
Nd revealed, the old man was Prema's father who used to rape her and she got pregnant again n again and her every baby was killed.
Anuja found a way out too.
She killed Bhola first.
Then she headed towards the old man to kill him. And after a WWE between the old man and Anuja. Old man died.
While the Grandma was killed by Neha when zhe was going upstairs to save the man (his son.. The old man)
And this moment was the moment of freedom for
🔹NEHA
🔹ANUJA
🔹PREMA
But they had lost almost EVERY THING.
And the movie ended woth a note....
🔹The family lived there for 20 years. In this time 13 people were killed. The first target was Prema's mother. On the other Prema got pregnant 8 time. 7/8 babies were killed soon after their birth and 8th was in Prema's tummy. While Bhola was involved in majority of Sexual Assaults too.
🔸P.S. The movie was way too disturbing. It made me feel tooe exhausted whole day. Hope you like the review. If you want more of such reviews hit likes. And follow me.
With Love,
Ellecia.

Movies I watched this Week #91
The Quiet Girl, a subdued Irish film, spoken mostly in Gaelic. It tells a heart-felt, modest story about a withdrawn 9-year-old girl from a large and neglectful rural family. When her mother becomes pregnant once again, she is sent to spend the summer with some distant middle-aged relatives, where she experiences a loving home for the first time in her life.
I am a sucker for warm stories of little girls like this, and I loved this gentle, extremely well-crafted film. The performance of the young, expressive actress Catherine Clinch as little Cáit was sensational. (Photo Above). 100% “Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, and 10/10 with me.
🍿
“I’m not a tailor, I’m a cutter"...
If The Outfit opening reminded me of ‘The Phantom Thread’, it quickly evolved into a completely different story: a “nail-biting crime thriller of an aging master tailor who must outwit a dangerous group of mobsters in order to survive a fateful night”. The most fascinating surprise of the week.
My only beef is the poor casting of ‘Francis’ and ‘Richie’, the two younger thugs. Otherwise, there were only 4 other players, stage-acting in one location, a small tailor shop, and these four were all riveting. 8/10.
🍿
My first film from Bhutan, Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom. A young self-centered teacher is sent against his will to Lunana, population 56, the most remote village in the country, but with time he learns to appreciate the simple traditions of its dirt-poor inhabitants. No surprises in storytelling or execution, but beautiful to see a mature, self-contained work by a first-time director from a really-different part of the world. 7/10. It was nominated for last year’s Oscars. (So by now I've seen all five best international films for 2021: ‘Drive my car’, ‘Flee’, ‘The hand of God’, ‘The worst person in the world’, and this.)
🍿
Another “exotic" first, The Bra from Azerbaijan, a slight soft-core Cinderella story, where the prince is a retiring train driver whose caboose snags a bra from a cloth line as it passes through a village. And so begins his quest to search among all the young women in town whose breasts fit the lost bra. The decision (by the German director) to exclude all dialog and rely on pantomime and music only is irritating. 3/10 for uniqueness.
🍿
American Icon and genius animator Don Hertzfeldt had uploaded to YouTube for free World Of Tomorrow, his 2015 Oscar nominated masterpiece. This "One of the greatest short films in the history of movies" is about an innocent 4 year old girl who meets an absurd grown-up third-generation clone of herself. I saw it at the beginning of the year, and I had to see it again. It’s my favorite science fiction film of all times. 10/10.
🍿
2 with actor Tsutomu Yamazaki:
🍿 High and low (= "Heaven and Hell"), Kurosawa's only adaptation of a modern novel with a contemporary setting. Toshiro Mifune is a wealthy director of The National Shoe Company, and his son get kidnapped, just as he tries to take over the business. A moral parable of crime and punishment, selfishness and altruism, good and evil.
It had a special surprising visual effect: a plume of pink smoke from a trash incinerator, in the middle of this crisp black & white masterpiece. This is the moment when the film descent from the hill-top villa of privilege to the depth of depravity below.
🍿 “...Keep eating! It's the last meal your mother cooked! Eat while it's hot! Eat!..”
In the “Ramen Western” Tampopo, he played Gorō, the cowboy-hat-wearing truck driver who comes into town looking for ... the perfect bowl of noodles. The main plot line is interspersed with various food-related vignettes, for example, the gangster who teaches his lover new erotic ways to enjoy egg yolks, and the final close up scene of a baby blissfully sucking on his mom’s breast.
🍿
A randomly-picked, typical 3-hour, Bollywood soap opera, the funnily-named Chori Chori Chupke Chupke from 2001. On its face, it’s a standard story of a wealthy couple who fall in love, and hire a young prostitute as a surrogate mother, when the wife cannot conceive. But apparently it became nationally associated with the whole topic of surrogate childbirth in India. Also it played on a subtext of romantic threesome between the husband, the wife and the hooker who was invited into their life. It includes half a dozen - and not enough - joyous and colorful song-and dance numbers like this No. 1 Punjabi. 7/10.
🍿
2 More with Juliette Binoche:
🍿 As she grows beyond middle age, the voluptuous Juliette Binoche had been embracing her sexuality in many of the characters she seeks (’Non Fiction’, ‘Let the sunshine in’, ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’, ‘Elles’, ‘Certified copy’, ‘Dan in real life’, many others). So in Who you think I am she plays a divorced 50-year-old who creates a fake farcebork profile of a young woman in order to lure a much younger lover. Vulnerable, deceptive, human. I am smitten no matter who she plays.
🍿 The Wait, however, is a 2015 Italian drama about a grieving Sicilian mother who cannot acknowledge the sudden death of her son, and who cannot bring herself to tell his visiting girlfriend about his death. But it’s too drawn out, too thin, and even the beautiful Binoche can’t fill its empty core. M’eh.
🍿
The Lady Eve, only my 3rd screwball by Preston Sturges, with scheming con-artist Barbara Stanwyck and naive, romantic sap Henry Fonda. Roger Ebert called the scene where she seduces him by playing with his hair “The single sexiest and funniest of all romantic comedies”.
🍿
2 by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, both with his collaborator Dominique Pinon:
🍿 His first fantastic short Foutaises ("Things I Like, Things I Hate”) from 1989. Starring rubber-face Pinon as a shopping list of things he likes and dislikes. 7 minutes of cinematic joy, worth watching again and again. [Copy is in French with no English subtitles].
🍿 The same list-making trick was used extensively at the first half of his happy Amélie, a whimsy tale of romantic Paris, drenched in red and green color filters, and accompanied by sentimental accordion music throughout. Re-watch.
I am getting ready to revisit the rest of his French films (’’The City of Lost Children’, Delicatessen’, ‘A very long engagement’, Etc.).
🍿
Alice, my first subversive acid trip by surrealist Czech crazy man Jan Švankmajer (Still alive today at 88!). A nightmarish, disturbing and often icky retelling of Lewis Carroll's ‘Alice's Adventures in Wonderland’. Kafkaesque stop-motion, disgusting taxidermy, squishy raw meat, symbolic transformations, and foreboding assortments of old-fashioned tools and bizarre objects. No cute Disney makeover for kids here.
🍿
“Parasite or symbiote?...” Sputnik, a creepy Russian ‘Alien’-sci-fi-clone from 2020. It tells of a cosmonaut who returns from space in 1983, unaware that he’s hosting an extraterrestrial, parasitic drooling “creature” which escapes at night to feed on live humans. Also, there’s a female psychiatrist who is brought in to “treat” him. 3/10.
(Russian filmmakers must have a huge selection of large Soviet era structures, real or imagined, to choose from when staging period stories!)
🍿
First watch: Pixar’s Brave, rated 21 out of their 26 features. A noisy, too fast, too busy, Disney-style myth-building fantasy for ‘emancipated’ little girls with big, red hair. An obvious commercial money grab with no heart. Even Kelly Macdonald’s exaggerated Scottish accent doesn’t save it. 2/10
🍿
“I see you shiver with antici ...”
I guess you had to experience The Rocky Horror Picture Show as a pre-teen in order to best appreciate its campy appeal. Because seeing it for the first time 50 years after it exploded on the scene, I find this Glam transsexual musical comedy baffling at best. 4/10.
🍿
“...Maybe you'll learn a little something about yourself...”
Another first watch: John Hughes’ acclaimed hi-school drama The breakfast Club, the quintessential 1980s film. It must have captures adolescence accurately when it came out, and it’s as if it didn’t age. 8/10.
🍿
Anthony Hopkins X 2:
🍿 Hannibal Hopkins & Sir Anthony, a standard, a series of interviews plus a fawning biography that doesn’t gets deep or insightful. It centers around his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter, and reminds us that he only had 20 minutes screen time in it.
🍿 I’m not usually fond of biographical fiction about real, dead figures, and the recent Hitchcock is no better than most. Hopkins with prosthetic masks / Make-up and a fat suit and Helen Mirren as his loyal wife Alma. His best tool as always is his voice, here mimicking Hitchcock’s famous terror-inciting accent. The story focus on the year 1959 when they were pushing the envelope and taking personal risks making Psycho. Best scene was at the end, watching the audience reaction at the premiere - this was worth the admission price. 🍿
So this is the 3rd time in a year that I’m watching J. C. Chandor’s directorial debut Margin Call. And just as I wrote 4 months ago, it’s a perfect financial ‘halogencore’ drama for me. I really can’t find a single false note in it. 10/10.
“...So you think we might have put a few people out of business today. That its all for naught. You've been doing that everyday for almost forty years Sam. And if this is all for naught then so is everything out there. Its just money; its made up. Pieces of paper with pictures on it so we don't have to kill each other just to get something to eat. It's not wrong. And it's certainly no different today than its ever been. 1637, 1797, 1819, 37, 57, 84, 1901, 07, 29, 1937, 1974, 1987 - Jesus, didn't that fuck up me up good - 92, 97, 2000 and whatever we want to call this. It's all just the same thing over and over; we can't help ourselves. And you and I can't control it, or stop it, or even slow it. Or even ever-so-slightly alter it. We just react. And we make a lot money if we get it right. And we get left by the side of the side of the road if we get it wrong. And there have always been and there always will be the same percentage of winners and losers. Happy foxes and sad sacks. Fat cats and starving dogs in this world. Yeah, there may be more of us today than there's ever been. But the percentages - they stay exactly the same...”
🍿
From my “So-bad-I-couldn’t-finish-it-films”: Bullet Train - Had to quit it after 17 min. Unfunny, whitewashed Tarantino-lite mess.
🍿
Throw-back to the art project:
Amélie Adora.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show Adora.

5) Four fandoms that have peaked your interest: SVU, Once Upon a Time, Supergirl, 9-1-1.
6) How has the pandemic been treating you? A mix of good and bad, I guess. Still looking for work and a lot of crappy/stressful stuff has been happening, but I was also in need of a break and to get creative so hopefully... I’m currently trying to pick up singing again... so keep your fingers crossed and don’t let me quit!
7) A song you can’t stop listening to right now? Soul by Celine Dion!
8) Recommend a movie. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019) [translation: How I Felt When I Saw That Girl] this movie is so beautiful and cute and the actors are all wonderful. It made me fall hard for bollywood movies, but most importantly, it introduced me to the mind-shattering Juhi Chawla. I know some people can be hesitant to watch non-English movies for various reasons, but once you open yourself to it, it really expands your world.
9) How old are you? 26
10) School, university, occupation, other? I currently work with victims on call at night every other week .
11) Do you prefer heat or cold? cold
12) Name one fact others may not know about you. the fact that of all the questions on this list, this is the one that stumps me lol uhhh... I’m needlessly stubborn when it comes to learning new things so I’m self-taught on a lot of things that would’ve been far easier if I’d used tutorials or videos etc (i.e. photoshop... I still have no idea what I’m doing but shhh)
13) Are you shy? Apparently. A relatively recent problem tbh.
14) Preferred pronouns? She/her.
15) Biggest Pet Peeves? ... does it count to say people who don’t reblog gifsets on here but save/repost/use/claim to enjoy gifs? Cause that is the worst.
16) What is your favorite "dere" type? I have no idea what that is???
17) Rate your life from 1-10, 1 being crappy and 10 being the best it could be. I wanna say like a 2 lol but I’ll go with 6, because it could be way worse probably and I wanna be optimistic.
18. What’s your main blog? This one.

Stay | Bucky Barnes x Reader (Prologue)
My Masterlist
Summary: Your best friend is marrying your older brother and the question is whether your other friends would show up. Steve’s was easy to track down. But Bucky, not so much...
Word Count: 1800+
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Tamilian!Reader, Natasha Romanoff x OMC Arjun Y/L/N
Warnings: MINIMAL TAMIL DIALOGUE (I’m more than happy to translate!) & TAMIL CULTURE , References to Hinduism, Mild Swearing
A/N:This is my entry for @bucky-smiles‘s 2K Bollywood Writing Challenge! This challenge got me so excited because I wanted to show off my culture in my writing! My prompt was to write a Bucky fic inspired by my all time favorite Bollywood movie - Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani! Y’all should go watch it because it’s fucking amazing! But I decided to write this fic with a Tamilian reader because I am Tamilian. I was born in Sri Lanka. But I know that there are a few other Tamilian friends on this site who would love to read this. @jalapenobarnes & @fafulous, THIS ONE IS FOR YOU, MY CHELLANGALA! Also, all my fellow Desi Marvel stans are more than welcome to read this fic and spread the love! <3
Natasha Romanoff had ever been the most “feminine” or “lady-like” or a “girly-girl” like most people had wanted her to be. She had never fit into society’s per-conceived notion that a woman must be a certain way. Born in Russia, she had moved to America when she had been six years of age. Fitting in had never been easy for her. For starters, it had taken her years’ worth of sessions with a dialect coach and tons of practice to be rid of her Russian accent. Eventually, when managed to get her English language skills in check, not many of the kids she went to school with were willing to take a chance on her friendship, except for Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes.
During her teenage years, she was the most rebellious kid in all of Brooklyn. A tomboy, they called her, with her short red hair, ripped skinny jeans, leather jackets, tattoos and piercings. Oh she had it all! She had spent most of her time skateboarding around Williamsburg and sneaking into the local art shows with her two best friends. But things had changed so much since then.
She was a grown woman now, well into her thirties. Her short red hair had grown down to her midriff. Her nose piercing had closed up years ago, the tattoos on her back barely visible to anyone anymore. The ripped jeans and leather jackets had been replaced by pencil skirts and pantsuits. Natasha had not expected to be a rather popular artist in New York, with her own studio in her hometown and her masterpieces selling for millions of dollars.
Perhaps, the most shocking thing about Nat’s life was not her physical transformation or the way she had realized her dreams of becoming a successful artist. It was how she had fallen in love with a certain Arjun Y/L/N. Born in Russia and raised in Brooklyn, she never would have expected to be marrying into Tamilian family. Yet, love did not know or care about one’s ethnicity or culture. She loved him and he loved her, so now they were getting married.
A month from today, she would be Mrs. Y/L/N. But for now, she was spending her last few days as Miss. Romanoff handwriting her wedding invitations to her loved ones. She never would have thought that she would have a traditional Hindu wedding; it had been her idea ever since Arjun had proposed. After all, she did have a wonderful relationship with his family and she felt honored to be a part of that. Embracing the culture that her man had grown up with had been the best part of getting married. She had always been a part of the family.
The wedding preparations were well under way now. While it was meant to be the bride’s family who was meant to take care of most of the expenses for the multiple ceremonies and rituals, your family had let go of such traditional notions for the sake of this union. The bride and groom were making an equal financial contribution to the wedding, a mutual decision between the two of them.
“Amma?” Natasha called out to your mother, who had been busy preparing some sweet treats that were meant to go along with the invitations. “Did Y/N tell you what time she gets out of work? She was supposed to be here an hour ago to help me out with the rest of the invitations.”
Your mother drained the last batch of jalebi’s from the frying pan before drenching them in the sugar syrup. She turned off the stove and wiped her hands with a tea towel, walking over to the dining table where her daughter-in-law-to-be had been sitting for the last hour. “You know how she is. She never gets out of work on time and when I ask her why, she gives you a speech about how she worked so hard to become a doctor for the sake of her family and that we should not be complaining about how much she works.”
Nat let out a chuckle as she set down her pen. “You’d think that she would have taken some time off from work to help out with the wedding. It is her brother’s wedding and I am her best friend, aren’t I?”
Before your mother could respond to that, she heard the sound of your car pulling up in the driveway. “And there she is!”
Hopping out of your car, you ran your hand through your partially went hair. Having gotten out of work later than you had expected, you had rushed back to your apartment to shower. You had not bothered with drying your hair, as you had been in a hurry. “Amma!” You called out to your mother as you used your key to unlock the door and entered, kicking off your shoes and making your way down to the living room. “Amma, where are you?”
“In here, Y/N!” Natasha called out to you as she picked up her pen and another invitation, looking down at her list of people whom she still had to invite to the wedding.
You skipped over to the kitchen. “Amma!” You exclaimed as you pulled your mother into a hug, placing a kiss on her cheek before giving her your best pouty lips. “Amma, ore oru strong cup of coffee, please? I just got out of work and I’m so tired. Please?”
Your mother gave you a playful eye roll. “Sit down; I’ll bring you a cup of coffee.”
“You’re a good Amma!” You gave her a nod as you walked over to the table, hugging Natasha from behind. “Anni!”
“That is something I can definitely get used to.” She chuckled, softly. “You are such a spoiled brat and you know that, right?”
“Perks of being the youngest in the family, I guess.” You admitted with a shrug of your shoulders, pulling up the chair across from Nat and sitting down. “Amma, is there any tiffin? I’m hungry!” You called out towards the kitchen, earning an eye roll from your sister-in-law-to-be.
“Don’t expect me to spoil the shit out of you when you come over to your brother and I’s.” She joked.
“What? Are we really setting the ground rules now?” You asked her with an eyebrow raised, giggling softly as you eyed the stack of envelopes that she had already labeled in calligraphy. You picked up the one on top, seeing the name ‘Steven Rogers’ written in cursive. “Did Steve say anything about coming to the wedding? The last I heard, he fired the head chef at his restaurant and he’s looking for a new one. I think he has a lot going on now, ever since that food critic gave him a poor rating and tanked his business.”
“Oh no, he’s been saying how busy he is. But if he doesn’t show up, I’m planning on getting my ass to Manhattan and dragging him over to the temple myself.”
You let out a laugh as you shook your head. Those two really were the best of friends. You, Natasha and Steve had attended the same high school together. Of course, you had not been such close friends back then. But Steve and Natasha had been best friends since middle school. They had practically been inseparable for as long as you’ve known them.
While you had only been friends with Natasha since your second year of undergrad, you had known her long before. You had become the least unlikely pair of friends – the rebellious Russian girl and the studious Tamilian nerd. You owed it all to that one ski trip to The Hamptons a little over twelve years ago, for bringing the two of you together. Now she was marrying your older brother and becoming a part of your family.
“Oh shit, I screwed this up!” Natasha groaned as she crossed out one of the names that she had just transcribed onto an envelope, tossing it aside before picking up a new one to fix her mistake.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you reached across the table to grab the envelope that she had jut discarded, seeing his crossed out name written in black ink.
Bucky.
“J-A-M-E-S...” Natasha spelled out his name as she wrote it neatly across the envelope. “B-U-C-H-A-N-A-N. BARNES. There!” Picking up an invitation and slipping it into the envelope, she sealed it with a lick and set it on top of her finished stack of envelopes. “Thank you for helping me with writing these invitations, Y/N.” She remarked, sarcastically. “Now we need to pack up the sweet treats and mail them out!”
You gave her a nod. “We’ll do that first thing in the morning.”
Once your brother got home from work, the four of you enjoyed a well-deserved family meal together. After a hard day’s work, it was something that you very much needed. Even though you had moved out of your childhood home once you had graduated from Columbia Medical School, you had been a frequent visitor ever since. As your mother lived alone once you had fled the nest, you made sure to keep her company during her lonely nights. With the wedding preparations, it seemed more convenient to be at the house more often. While Arjun and Natasha were staying over, you tend to pop by every now and then to take on the role of your sister-in-law-to-be’s Maid of Honor and help out with some of the wedding planning.
After dinner, your brother had retreated to his old bedroom to attend an important phone call from work. As Nat and your mother shared the task of doing dishes and packing up the sweets that your mother had prepared, you found yourself lurking under the bed in your childhood bedroom. You retrieved a little cardboard box that you had been keeping hidden for years now. This box was filled with so many memories from your childhood and teenage years – from your high school yearbook to the Polaroid photos that you had taken during your trip to The Hamptons.
You flipped through the yearbook to see the photos of you and your friends – Y/N Y/L/N, Natasha Romanoff, Steven Rogers and James Barnes. Bucky. There was always something special about him, the way he lit up every room he had walked into. Bucky was the loudest voice in the room, the life of the party. He was the nerd with the camera, consumed by his wanderlust. He was a man of everyone’s dreams, with dreams of his own that he was chasing all the way to the other side of the world. Bucky. Where ever in the world he was right now, nobody loved to go on an adventure like him. Twelve years it had been since you had first fallen in love with him.

My favourite two-hero films of all time- Part 1.
I miss the era when two superstars of the same generation collided on the big screen. Here are my favourite two-hero films of all time-
KARAN ARJUN(1995)
This film had everything a Bollywood movie could ask for. Romance,Action, Comedy, Drama- it had it all. It was a highly hyped release, since the starcast boasted of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Raakhee,Amrish Puri,Kajol and Mamta Kulkarni. The storyline of the film focused on a desolate mother and her two sons, who get to know about the truth about their father's death and vow to avenge him, but their greedy uncle kills them instead. 20 years later, they get reincarnated to complete the revenge. While Kajol plays SRK's love interest ( of course!), Mamta Kulkarni plays Salman's girlfriend. Salman was easily the surprise package of the film. His intense, brooding role made my day.
Available on- Sony LIV
KSHATRIYA(1993)
Honestly speaking, a film like this with so many superstars in one frame can't be made today, like can you imagine Dharmendra,Sunil Dutt, Vinod Khanna, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Meenakshi Shesadri,Raveena Tandon, Divya Bharti, Raakhee, Puneet Issar and Prem Chopra in one movie in today's time? It was also a rare instance where Sunil Dutt and Dharmendra played father to their real life sons. The film is about an age-old enmity between two Kshatriyan families, over a cow sacrifice. They send their sons to foreign lands to keep them safe from their bloody enmity. Both of them end up becoming friends and a problem ensues when they refuse to continue their enmity. All the lead actors, especially Sunny Deol, acted really powerfully.
SUHAAG(1994)
This film was another big-ticket one, since it starred a good lead cast of Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Nagma. Though it is Ajay who is the main hero, Akshay is more than his sidekick in this film. Karisma and Nagma were more for just romance, though Lolo was the better and the more daring girl. She chased after Ajay's character since she was madly in love with him, and that cinema hall scene was indeed hilarious! The story revolves around Ajay(Devgn)and Raj(Akshay), two best friends who keep on playing pranks on each other and get into trouble regularly. One day, Ajay goes to get his passport made, but he is shocked when he finds out his real name. That night, he sees his mother keeping a Karvachauth and he demands answers. She tells him the whole story of how his father was wrongly framed and was sent to jail. On hearing this, Ajay goes and meets his father in jail and promises to destroy the man who framed him. Raj too joins him in this fight for justice, unaware of the fact that his father too was involved in this.
Available on- Prime Video, YouTube.
ANDAZ APNA APNA(1994)
One of the best comedy films of all time. The most shocking fact of this film is that such a great film like this, boasting of a starcast of Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor flopped miserably when it was released. The story revolves around Amar(Aamir)and Prem(Salman), two young jobless slackers who have been a burden on their father's heads. They dream to get rich by wooing and marrying Raveena Bajaj(Raveena), a super-rich heiress who has just returned from England. The Gold Rush (1925); AFI #58
The next film that we had for review is a classic comedy from the 1920s, The Gold Rush (1925). This movie is often considered to be Charlie Chaplin’s best work and what he considered to be the film he most wanted to be remembered for. I watched the original cut that is a little bit longer than later versions and has a simple piano score. The movie was re-released in 1942 with an orchestral score that was nominated for Best Song and Best Score at that year’s Academy Awards. We will go over the plot and it probably doesn’t need a spoiler warning since the movie is a century old and there have been so many parts of this film that other movies and TV shows have paid homage too...but it is better to be safe than sorry:
SPOILER WARNING!!! PLOT POINTS FOR A 95 YEAR OLD MOVIE COMING UP!!! THIS WARNING IS SLIGHTLY SARCASTIC BUT I DON’T WANT MAIL ABOUT IT!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The movie begins with establishing shots of men hiking through the snow to represent the Alaskan gold rush. Vast uninhabitable plains are suddenly full of people trying to find gold. Amongst this group is Big Jim, a prospector that found a gold deposit on his claim when a blizzard strikes. Another is a little tramp, who is credited as The Lone Prospector (Charlie Chaplin), a simple man who is just wandering and trying to find his fortune. Both of these men run into a sudden blizzard and are driven into the cabin of Black Larsen, a man who is a wanted criminal. Larsen tries to throw them out, but he is overpowered and the three settle in for the storm.
The storm goes on so long that one of the three needs to leave to find food. They pick cards and Larsen loses, so he is sent out to go find food. Larsen runs into and kills two policemen then finds the claim of Big Jim. Larsen decides to wait out the storm then flee with the gold before Big Jim can come back. Hopefully he will die of starvation in the cabin.
Speaking of starvation, the tramp and Big Jim have run out of food and the big man is starting to hallucinate that the little tramp is a chicken. The big man chases the little tramp around the cabin going in and out of a ravenous haze with a shotgun. A bear breaks in while the two are fighting and the tramp is able to shoot it so the two men now have food. This sounds like a horror movie or something out of The Revenant, but it is done in a very comical way.
The two leave the cabin once the storm subsides to find their fortunes. Big Jim goes to his claim and runs into Larsen, who knocks out Big Jim with a shovel. Larsen attempts to leave with some gold but is killed in a sudden avalanche. Big Jim comes to eventually, but he stumbles away until he gets to a town and can’t remember how he got there. He also can’t remember how to get to his gold, so he decides he must find the little tramp and the cabin which will jog his memory about the location of his claim.
The tramp wandered until he found a boom town that apparently was built overnight. He enters a happening dance hall and sees a beautiful girl who is bored and trying to avoid the advances of the local ladies man. Her name is Georgia and she tells Jack, the ladies man, that she would rather dance with the most deplorable looking tramp and proceeds to grab the lone prospector and dances with him. The little guy is smitten and, after a few chance encounters, invites Georgia and her group of friends to have New Year’s Eve dinner with him. She accepts as a joke and completely forgets. The tramp did not forget and scrounges up enough money for a nice meal and waits for the girls to celebrate. He waits so long that he falls asleep and dreams of a successful dinner party in which he entertains the girls with a puppet dance involving forks and bread rolls.
He wakes up and walks the streets feeling depressed and lonely. Georgia, however, does remember the invitation and goes to the house at which the tramp is staying. She finds a set table with a meal and presents and suddenly feels bad for treating the tramp so badly. She mentions to her friends and Jack that she wants to find the tramp, which angers Jack and inspires him to write a note that says she wants to talk. The tramp is given the note when he returns to the dance hall, but is intercepted by Big Jim, who promises to make the tramp into a millionaire if he can help him find his claim. The tramp tells a confused Georgia that he got the note and will return to take her out of this life.
Big Jim and the prospector get to the cabin, but there is another blizzard (it’s the Klondike, it happens a lot) and they are not able to go out for the gold right away. During the night, the cabin is blown to the edge of a cliff and is teetering on the edge. There is some humor about not tipping the house until the two are able to successfully escape and they happen to have ended up right next to the claim.
A year passes according to a dialogue card, but the little tramp was not able to find Georgia. He and Big Jim take a boat back to the continental states. The press is there and a member wants to get a picture of the tramp in his old mining outfit. He puts on his old clothes and has a mishap while posing for a picture and falls down some stairs right next to Georgia. She is taking the boat and assumes he is a stowaway and tries to save him from the ship’s crew. She is made aware that he is now a millionaire and she joins him for a picture in which the two kiss.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While writing the synopsis from my notes and comparing it to other online summaries, I realize that there are parts of this film that sound like a horror film. Two men are fighting for survival out on the Klondike during a storm with nothing to eat and start considering cannibalism like something from the Donner Party. In the midst of a fight over a shotgun in which a very large man is attempting to kill a much smaller man, a bear (and this is a real trained bear in some of the scenes) breaks into the cabin and the two must now kill it. I think I have seen this movie and it wasn’t a comedy. This film has murder, assault, bear attacks, sexual harassment, and dog kicking. I am not sure it could be made today and I am sure that many aspects would be cut. But this is why these films are so interesting, it was a creation from a previous time and it reveals what was socially acceptable in a different era. I find it fascinating.
As old as this film is, some of the more famous scenes have been copied in film and TV more recently. The quick little dance with the dinner roles has been copied by Curly from The Three Stooges in 1935, Robert Downy Jr. in 1992, Johnny Depp in 1993, Grandpa Simpson in 1994, and Amy Adams in 2011. A Walter Lantz character named Chili Willy the Penguin had a couple of adventures that very closely imitated the “starving in the cabin” scenes with Chaplin and Big Jim. I have not seen the films, but IMDB and Wikipedia claim that the hanging cabin scene has been used in a couple of Bollywood movies - Michael Madana Kama Rajan (1990) and Welcome (2007).
There are two more films on the AFI list starring Charlie Chaplin, so I don’t want to go too in depth into his life at this point. I do want to mention that he cofounded United Artists distribution with D.W. Griffith, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks. This allowed him to have complete control over all aspects of his films, so everything you see is 100% his vision. He wrote, directed, produced, edited, scored, and starred in almost all of his films. We don’t see that much these days because there is some studio meddling in almost every film, so it is refreshing to see a creative work from a single source.
So does this film deserve to be on the AFI 100? Beyond a shadow of a doubt. This is a very simple movie that comes from the very infancy of the media, yet I consider it to be better than most current films. It has a good story despite having no dialogue and set pieces that are still copied a century later. This is truly the work of a genius. Would I recommend it? I am upset if you haven’t seen it yet. It is only 75 minutes, it is very entertaining, and it is an easy to digest piece of American culture. Go watch it right now. If you have already seen it, go watch it again with somebody who hasn’t seen it. This is the kind of film that the AFI Top 100 movies was created around, basically a reason to go back and review quality film from the past. Well worth the time and I can’t recommend it enough. Please give it a view.

Pearls of Wisdoms for Pakis
Beloved Janta of Pakistan,
I would also like to share a secret with you, which you might never apprehend from a person from any other country, especially from an Indian. We LOVE YOU, We are obsessed with you. We enjoy infatuation comparable to that of a 14-year boy who has one on a girl living in his neighborhood, like that teenager whose heart warms up with the girl's sight. Still, he tends to tease her or plays whimsical pranks on her. It is his way of showing his affection.
Accept it, my fellow former Countrymen, you guys are in deep love with us as well. I have felt it first-hand. You folks love watching our Movies and fantasy our starlets. Sing Bollywood songs while proposing to your love. Ache to enjoy Mumbai and Delhi's nightlife. Some of you would even love to reside permanently here for a better future. There is also constant discrimination in every viewpoint; it may be Cricket or politics; in all honesty, you think of our day and night.
Keeping this indefinable affection for each other aside for a while, there is a bitter revelation that you people will have to accept and even feed it in the brains of the future generations to come. I am sure that maximum people over your side of the border should by now have conceded that India will never ever surrender Kashmir in your Lap. It won't be possible in at least another century ahead.
You see, in the manner where India's GDP had expanded from 10 Thousand Crores in the 1950s to more than 10 Lacs Crores in 2019, our sentiment of Nationalism has additionally, grown in a comparable pattern. There was a phenomenal hike in this feeling after India's general elections 2014 onwards; the reason for such an increase is unknown to me. So, the moral is, with such a vast Nationalism level in the hearts of the Aam Janta here, I don't think so parting away an inch of land to anyone would be possible.
Won't it look dishonorable for us in the front of the entire world if we lose the land to you guys who are quite behind then us in all the aspects? You will have to accept that technically both our countries are 73 years old this year. Over this side of the border, we have gradually upgraded in all aspects a Nation has to grow. I could virtually challenge you in where you guys can prove to be better in any improvement zone. This is the land wherein the year 1981 Indian Actor Amitabh enacted on the evergreen song "Dekha Ek Khawab " and his Dame Rekha in the movie Silsila hence parting away with Kashmir is painful to us as it will not only hurt our Ego and furthermore offer grief to Amitji.
Forget the BJP led NDA, Even the Congress-led UPA cannot think of such a gormless deal. The primary reason is that they want to come into power next term too to provide Public service. Now you people only tell which government will be such dimwits to kick their own rear and be signed on the history textbook of 10-year-old kids as the People who gave away Kashmir.
Realize this, Pakistani Government, Your Army and also ISI can't withhold the idea of getting the region of Kashmir in your Nation's Map, even they know that your national flag will never rise in Capital of Srinagar but since it was an Inaugural Political Agenda when your Country was created in where the principal objective of this agenda was to collect vote from you guys and funds from other countries in the name of Kashmir. It is their lollypop for you fellows that their respective parties if came in power, an ideal environment will be created where; a newly wedded couple from Lahore can drive to Srinagar for their honeymoon without a stamp on their Passport and enjoy a bite of Kashmiri Apple laying in the front deck of a Shikara in Dal Sarovar. It's All Fake, acknowledge it, and move on.
So to my Indian friends,
There was a massive inspiration for me to compose this article. It was shocking that it came from the other side of the border. In the great Indian lockdown of 2020, I who was ideally workless like many of us all, I went through many videos of this Pakistani Newsreader and Political Debate Show Host Dr. Fiza Akbar Khan on YouTube. By her venomous language, the passion for thrashing India and people over here and that high pitched voice made me think of another Indian Debate Show Host. I am convinced that they are unquestionably biologically related to each other. So I should not have a problem with her blabbering rubbish towards my Country as her Bhaiya here likewise.
But I have to admit that her language did hurt me because, unlike her Bhaiya over there who trashes Pakistan in the English language, she uses Urdu, which sounds quite similar to the Hindi language to illuminate unpleasant garbage, the reason is entirely psychological for me being hurt. For example, If somebody calls you a Motherfucker, you might not be offended in the same manner if you are called Madar***d (Pardon my Language).
This Pakistani Anchor goes on and on that How Poor, Uneducated, Physically and Mentally Weak, Shelterless, we Indians live in this Country where our economy is going into the drain. We are foolish people to elect Shri Modi as PM of our Country and that too twice. There is a vast level of discrimination on minorities over here. The world's biggest Democracy is over. In the distant future, if Kashmir is not given to them its freedom, then Islamabad will be the next capital of Pakistan and India.
Can you believe this, she has mentioned all this on her show and that too in a language which can easily pierce in our heart. Let's not get also angered about this and start calling her names. She is just doing her job. She is giving favored content to people of over there what her Bhaiya is doing over there.
As pragmatic as I can get about whatever she says on her show about us, I just can't accept it, I am too egoistic as an Indian to even reply or curse on her Video on YouTube comment section. Hence, I planned to dedicate this entire blog to Dr. Fiza Khan, whom I seriously don't mean to offend as Women, her Nation, and especially not her Religion and would like to give her some advice.
Avoid Echoing about Nukes: A round of applause towards Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan for building Nuclear Weapons, a program from a stolen uranium centrifuge design and a network of grey-market suppliers. But stop jabbering in your show that Pakis can nuke India in case a War erupts between us. Even If Jinnah Sahab from Heaven above commands your Arm Force to it, they will effortlessly deny his orders and don't stress. We likewise won't squander our atomic weapon on you. These weapons are like those expensive Portraits which you can proudly hang in your Living Room, but can't take it out on a date. Stop even using the word Nuke in your show.
Comparison between the PMs: PM Imran Sahab seems to be a jolly good fellow who also appears to try to administrate better than any other PMs or Military leaders of your Country. Let me tell you bluntly that there is no comparison with his Counterpart over here; in fact, he even doesn't stand anywhere nearby India's previous Prime Minister.
Paki's Diplomatic Policies Debacle: This is a typical miscue. You and many colleagues of you have repeatedly misguided your Citizens that Pakistan can easily use the benefit of its diplomatic relationship with a few First World Country and pressurize India on Kashmir Issue. Well, Honey, This is an open challenge to your PM, along with Mr. Qureshi Sahab go to any so-called super Power for assistance or call end numbers of meeting in OIC ( Organisation of Islamic Cooperation ). Nobody will be ready to intervene in the Valley issue for one of the main reason, Why would any country create enmity with the Country will more than 100 Million Population which is a significant business open doors for their corporates.
Playing Second Fiddle: I initially watched your Debate show of earlier years. You always mentioned the US as your elder brother and will still stand next to you along with Saudi Arabia. These were the two countries which you saw as your personal ATM. Lately, these ATM machines stopped removing Cash and Kinds, which they earlier showered on your Country, so you bashed them and accused both these Super Power for adultery. These started leaning towards us. Then you went to China and become a Virtual Puppet who dances on their tunes. Now the problem arises that the entire world started forming against your elder brother and accused them as the creator of the Pandemic of 2020. So you began a rigid assembly against them as well, and now your nation is in an arrangement for another development with Malaysia and Turkey. Understand this dear Fiza ben that in distant future you will have to abuse these two countries also while your government will go and beg to some other countries, maybe North Korea.
Last but not least, which I have already mentioned why Kashmir will never be part of Pakistan earlier in the blog. Read repeatedly till the concept is glued by heart, and if possible, explain it to your people there.
Defense products will be purchased in the name of Kashmir. For Fiscal Year 20-21 Defense expenditure of Pakistan is 1,289 Billion Dollars. India's expenses on the same would be around 66 Billion Dollars. Can you believe these Figures? This Moolah could otherwise be used in Infrastructure and improving the lifestyle of citizens of the respective Country. Civilians and Soldiers' blood will be shed on the name of Kashmir. Approximately 120000 deaths have been registered since 1989, which also includes unsympathetic deaths of militants and terrorists. Television Media will go on with Live debates inviting aficionados and enthusiasts to increase their TRP on the name of Kashmir. Newspapers and magazines will publish viperous articles vocalizing each other's blame for being troublemakers on Kashmir's name. Many commercial Movies and Web Series will also be produced on Kashmir's name. Still, by endeavoring all means of Peace or War, this dream of some of yours will never be fulfilled.
