The European Defense Manufacturer "Matra-BAe Dynamics-Alenia (MBDA)" has updated their SIMBAD-Remote Control (RC) Surface to Air Missile (SAM) System to the new SIMBAD-RC2 and SIMBAD-RC4 Versions which will be ready by 2027.
The main Difference with these new Models is that they are made to be exempted from the United States’ (US) “International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)” Law, meaning that the US won’t be able to withhold Parts and even Services from any Country that buys them, so good thinking on the Part of MBDA.
The SIMBAD-RC2 will carry two Mistral 3 Missiles and weigh around 500 kg while the bulkier SIMBAD-RC4 will carry four such Missiles and weigh around 800 kg.
The Jose-Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates and the six upcoming Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) are armed with two of the current SIMBAD-RC Weapons for each Ship, so these new Products is something that the Philippine Navy (PN) could consider when building future Vessels.

Just a look at the impressive-looking Sonar and AW159 Wildcat Helicopter Crew of the BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) Guided Missile Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN) while they were conducting Anti-Submarine Training Operations recently.
The Jose Rizal-class Ships are currently the most capable Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Assets of the PN, with each Ship having its own Sonar, Torpedo Launchers and armed ASW Helicopter.

Missilemen onboard the BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) Guided Missile Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN) warm up and conduct Maintenance Procedures on their Mistral Surface to Air Missiles (SAM) using Test Sets.
The Procedure helps extend each Missile's Service Life, and also helps the Crew be aware on the actual Status of each Missile. Nice BRP Rizal T-Shirts, by the Way. The PN should make it available to the Public, I would buy an official one in a Heartbeat if it were available and there’s one my Size …

The BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) Guided Missile Frigate and its assigned AW159 Wildcat Helicopter of the Philippine Navy (PN) assisted in the Search and Rescue (SAR) Operation of the MT Terra Nova Industrial Fuel Tanker which capsized off the Coast of Bataan recently.
One of the Pictures illustrates why its class of Vessel is the most advanced in the PN as of now, with its many Consoles with Monitor Screens.

Just some nice Photos of the Naval Special Operations Unit 09 of the Naval Special Operations Command (NAVSOCOM) training with the Crew of the BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) Guided Missile Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN) for Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) Operations in Subic recently.
VBSS is a Tactic employed by Military and Law Enforcement Operatives to Apprehend, Investigate, and Search suspected Vessels at Sea in order to prevent Illicit Actions like Smuggling, Piracy, or Terrorism. It follows a Systematic Procedure to ensure the Vessel's Safety, perform a Thorough Search, and Confiscate any Contraband or Suspects located on Board

Five European Countries, namely France, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia and Hungary, recently signed an Agreement to jointly acquire the Mistral 3 Surface to Air Missile (SAM) System. The Mistral 3 is also being used by the Simbad-RC SAM System onboard the two Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates of the Philippine Navy (PN).
The Mistral 3 uses an Imaging Infra-Red (IIR) Guidance System allowing it to be only aimed initially by the Operator and once it is launched, it will home in by itself towards the Target. It has a Range of up to 8 km, and can maneuver up to 30Gs. Each Jose Rizal Frigate has two Simbad-RC Launchers, and each Launcher has two Missiles that are ready to fire.

Just some nice, new Pictures of the BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), a Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN) as it conducted a Training for its Crew for its Naval Shield Combat Management System (CMS).
Among those shown in the Pictures were the C-Star Anti-Ship Missile Launchers, Simbad-RC Surface to Air Missile (SAM) System and one of the Large Screen Monitors being used on the Ship

The Shipbuilder "PT PAL Indonesia" just laid down the Keel of the second of the two new Landing Docks (LD) for the Philippine Navy (PN) recently to officially start its Construction. The said Ceremony was accompanied by an Official Survey by the PN's Technical Inspection and Acceptance Committee (TIAC).
On a Side Note, I just realized that the two previous Tarlac-class LDs continue to be armed only with .50 cal. Heavy Machine Guns (HMG) up now, I think the PN should at least prioritize Self-Defense Countermeasures and Armaments for it.
I suggest they use the same ones used on the Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates, the C-Guard Decoy Launchers and Simbad-RC Surface to Air Missile (SAM) Systems for Commonality …
Here is the Link to the Article about the Keel Laying on the Jane’s Website: https://www.janes.com/defence-news/news-detail/pt-pal-lays-down-keel-for-second-modified-variant-of-tarlac-class-amphibious-ship

The BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) Guided Missile Frigate made History recently when it became the very first ever Vessel of the Philippine Navy (PN) fire a Purpose-built Anti-Ship Missile, which in this Case was the C-Star Missile

One of the most impressive Exhibits for me at the recent Asian Defense and Security (ADAS) 2024 Event was this Full Scale Mock-Up (FSMU) of the C-Star Anti-Ship Missile (AShM) shown on the Booth of the Naval Research and Technology Development Center (NRTDC).
You can truly appreciate its huge Size and see a lot of Detail in it. The C-Star is the very first Purpose-built AShM of the Philippine Navy (PN), and is used on their Jose Rizal-class Guided Missile Frigates. I think the PN should get more of these C-Star FSMUs so they can display it in their various Units and Museums.
On a related Note, as per the Representatives of the Hanwha Group that I talked to at the Event also, this Version being used on the PN Ships are the “C-Star 2” which only has AshM Capability. The next Version, the “C-Star 3” which I think is still in Development will have both Anti-Ship and Land Attack Capability. Photos are by the NRTDC

The BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS-17), one of the Del Pilar class Vessels just celebrated its eighth Year of commissioning with the Philippine Navy (PN), this just goes to show how fast time flies. As I have been saying, I hope the PN arms and equips it and its Sister Ships better Weapons and Equipment soon so they will be better Naval Surface Combatants also.
The three Del Pilar class Ships along with the two Tarlac class Landing Docks (LD) and two Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates are the only Vessels in the PN which can carry their own Rotary Wing Aircraft as of now.

The Philippine Navy (PN) recently said that they intend to complete the Integration of their Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates to their AW159 Wildcat Helicopters within this Year of 2024. Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Exercises are currently underway between these Assets to complete the Integration.
The PN has two Jose Rizal class Frigates and two Wildcat Helicopters, with each Ship to be paired with each Helicopter. Once the Integration is complete, these will then be the most capable ASW Assets of the PN that will be World-class in Terms of Standard.
Only four other Assets of the PN have ASW capabilities, the BRP Conrado Yap (PS-39) has Sonar and Torpedoes but no ASW Air Support, while the Del Pilar class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) only have Sonars but no Torpedoes nor ASW Air Support.
