The FA-50PH Fighting Eagle Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Rafale Multi-Role Fighter (MRF) Aircraft of the France Air and Space Force (FASF) conducted Basic Flight Maneuvers (BFM) over West Zambales recently.

The FA-50PH and Rafales then flew with an A330M Transport Aircraft and an A400M Military Transport Aircraft where the Rafales demonstrated their Air to Air Refueling Capability with the A330M and A400M.

This Joint Exercise is Part of the French Military's Projeciton of a Heavy Air Package in South East Asia (PEGASE) 2024 Mission which, for the first time ever, included the Philippines. The original Photos are by the 5th Fighter Wing of the PAF

Some Updates on the Modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) from the Press from a supposed "Procurement Monitoring Report" by the Department of National Defense (DND). However, I can't find any such Report from the DND on their or other Government Websites. At any rate, since the Press is reporting it, so here they are:

12 additional FA-50PH Fighting Eagle Aircraft for the Philippine Air Force (PAF) for Php 40 billion, or Usd 683.6 million assuming an Exchange Rate of Php 58.51 per Dollar thru a Government to Government Deal

Undisclosed Number of Bell 412EPX Helicopters for the Philippine Army (PA) for Emergency Medical Missions worth Php 1 billion, or Usd 17 million

Contract for six A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft for the PAF confirmed, cost was reportedly worth Php 6.5 billion or Usd 111.09 million

Upgrade of existing FA-50PH Aircraft of the PAF

Cyber Systems of the AFP Upgrade

Upgrade to the SPYDER-MR Surface to Air Missile (SAM) Systems of the PAF

Missiles and Systems upgrade for the Malvar-class Corvettes of the Philippine Navy (PN)

India's Tejas Fighter Aircraft received another major blow to its reputation recently when no less than the Chief Air Marshal of the Indian Air Force (IAF), A.P. Singh criticized it publicly for being unable to deliver the number of Aircraft they ordered a Decade and a half ago.

Quoting Singh himself: "We should go back to 1984, when we conceived that Aircraft. The first Aircraft flew in 2001, 17 years later. The induction started another 15 years later, in 2016. Today, we are in 2024. I do not have the first 40 Aircraft also, so this is the production capability". The IAF Chief then also added: "… Technology delayed is Technology denied …"

I’m sorry to India, but at this Point, I would consider the Tejas as a failure already as a Fighter Aircraft. It actually made its first Flight ahead of its current Rivals, the FA-50 Fighting Eagle and the JF-17 Thunder, but now the FA-50 and JF-17 have over a hundred Aircraft in Service each, and both have been export successes while the Tejas can’t even fulfill its order of 40 Aircraft to its own Air Force.

I think the Tejas was just too ambitious, India wanted their own Design and build every Part of it themselves, but they have been unable to do so. On the other Hand, the FA-50 and JF-17 were made with the collaboration of well established Foreign Aviation Defense Companies.

Moving forward, I think India should abandon plans to build the Tejas Mk 2, or at the very least, introduce a parallel Program with it with the help of a Foreign Company, like Russia’s Sukhoi Design Bureau and their upcoming Su-75 Checkmate, for Example.

Cordura as the new Commanding General of the PAF. Among other Activities, Gen. Cordura was given a Tactical Demostration Flight onboard an FA-50PH during his Visit.

Philippines to integrate JDAM into Aircraft, to replace Lizard Guided Bombs of the Super Tucanos?

The United States (US) recently announced that the Philippines will be integrating the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) into it’s Aircraft, and my guess is that it will be for the A-29B Super Tucano. On may be a related note, will the JDAM be replacing the Lizard Guided Bombs for use on the Aircraft?

Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro recently revealed that they plan to get more than three dozen Multi-Role Fighter (MRF) Aircraft for the Philippines, and there are already around six Candidates from four Countries and one Consortium for this planned acquisition for the Philippine Air Force (PAF)
