𝒶 𝓃𝑒𝓌 𝓎𝑒𝒶𝓇'𝓈 𝓀𝒾𝓈𝓈
the bass from the speakers thumped through the cameron's pool house, the countdown to midnight echoing in the background. rafe leaned against the edge of the bar, holding a half-empty glass of champagne he’d barely touched, his eyes glued to you.
you were across the room, laughing at something topper said, the kind of laugh that made your shoulders shake and your eyes light up. you were radiant—effortlessly stunning in the way you always were, your outfit hugging you perfectly, your smile brighter than anything else in the room.
he should’ve been used to this by now—watching you light up every space you walked into, completely oblivious to the way you had him wrapped around your finger. but tonight, it felt different. heavier.
“five… four…”
the countdown started, pulling him out of his thoughts. people around him clinked glasses, paired off, and got ready to celebrate. rafe’s chest tightened. if he didn’t do this now, he’d never forgive himself.
“three… two…”
before he could second-guess himself, he set his glass down and crossed the room in long strides. your name fell from his lips, quiet but urgent, as he gently grabbed your wrist.
you turned to him, your smile still in place but tinged with confusion. “rafe? what’s—”
“one… happy new year!” the crowd roared, but it was muffled in the background as he cupped your face and kissed you.
it wasn’t rushed or frantic—it was deliberate, almost like he’d been imagining this moment for years. your lips were soft, tasting faintly of champagne, and when your hands found their way to the front of his shirt, clutching the fabric, he swore he felt the earth tilt.
you froze for a heartbeat, just long enough for doubt to creep into his mind. then, you kissed him back, your grip on his shirt tightening as you leaned into him. the rest of the room might as well have disappeared.
when he finally pulled back, you were flushed, your lips slightly swollen, your breath coming in soft pants.
“rafe…” you whispered, your voice barely audible over the noise.
he swallowed hard, running a hand through his hair. “shit. i—I couldn’t keep it in anymore. i’m in love with you, okay? like, head-over-fucking-heels, can’t-breathe-when-you’re-not-around in love with you. i know it’s probably the dumbest thing i’ve ever done, but—”
“rafe,” you interrupted, your voice steady but your expression unreadable.
his stomach sank. “yeah?”
you didn’t answer right away. instead, you stepped closer, sliding your hands up his chest until they rested on his shoulders. then, with a soft smile, you tugged him down into another kiss.
this one was slower, deeper, and it sent a shiver down his spine. when you finally pulled back, your forehead rested against his, and you were smiling so wide it made his heart do backflips.
“happy new year, dumbass,” you murmured, your breath warm against his lips.
a laugh bubbled out of him, and he shook his head, grinning like an idiot. “best fucking year already.”

when hearts find their way / Aaron Hotchner
summary. if Hotch decided to break up with you to protect you, he regrets it anytime he looks at you. And he looks at you a lot.
words count. 2,443
a/n. just a short story, she said, just to start writing again. And here comes my first Hotch fic with more than 2k words. It's a first, I hope you'll like and well...I'll write something happier another day (it has a good ending I promise)
Hotch wished he could stop looking at you.
It wasn’t like he needed to focus on you right now. Not outside the office. Not at Rossi’s party to celebrate another year as a completely alive team. Not when you’re clearly out of danger.
Well, except if he counted Emily’s and JJ’s drinking with you more than usual.
But that wasn’t a real danger. Especially when there were plenty of people not drinking tonight to make sure everyone will go back home safe. Including Reid. Including himself.
However, Hotch was incapable of putting his eyes away from you.
Too scared there might be an unknown treat around here. Too scared you might disappear if he dared look away. Too scared you might find somebody else to end the night.
That was the scariest thought above all.
He clinched on his drink harder, blaming himself for being so stupidly attached to someone he shouldn’t. Someone he already told no before.
“And I thought we locked up Hotch in the office to get Aaron tonight,” Rossi said, standing next to him. Hotch let out a small and single amused sigh. He took the risk of closing his eyes for a second. When he opened them again, you were still there. Thankfully.
“I’m fully here, David.” he answered, turning to his friend who looked more than amused by the situation. There was one problem with being close with your coworker: when their work is to analyze people, you can be sure they will do it with you too. “Having fun?”
“More than you I guess.” Hotch opened his mouth to respond to it but didn’t get the time before Rossi put his hand up. “Or your level of fun is watching over her?”
Was he that obvious? Technically, he had been standing alone in the corner of the room for a few minutes now. “I’m not watching over her.” Of course, it didn’t convince Rossi. Worse, it made him laugh.
“Oh you clearly are, Aaron. I know you’re not a man of many words but you should consider that speaking is better than stalking.”
He sighed, taking another slip of his drink. “Would you stop, please?”
But Hotch had to be honest. Because he did take profit of the silence and the small break Rossi was giving him to take another look. He saw you dancing with Morgan. The first thing that came to his mind was that he was safe.
Safe from what, you idiot? It’s not like he had any right to be jealous or possessive. Or even protective. You weren’t his. And it was his fault.
Hotch could never forget how your expression went from desire, the need to kiss every single piece of face, to the sadness and the anger of being rejected. “We shouldn't do that.” He heard himself say. Four stupid words. Four stabs right into your heart.
“I’ll give you some advice.” Rossi said to interrupt his thoughts. And Hotch gave up, fully concentrating on whatever he had to say to prevent himself from reliving the night that ruined everything.
“Either you talk to her and make a move. Or you leave her alone. But stop playing with that girl's heart and mind.”
“You say that like she cares.” He knew that by saying that, he was admitting there was more than a professional conflict between you. Not that anyone in this house was even believing that it was only professional. You don’t look at a member of your team like they were the loss of your life. Not the biggest, but close.
“Oh she does.” Rossi said, looking at you. So did Hotch. And for the first time tonight, he caught your eyes on him. Just for a second before you noticed and went back to your discussion with Emily. But it was enough for him.
__
Later that night, Hotch learnt that Rossi wasn’t the only one aware that something was going between you two.
He was one of the first to sit at the table, in front of JJ. They talked for a few minutes and more members of the team started to join. Until JJ got up suddenly and called your name. “Please, take my seat.”
“What? Why?” you replied, confused at the offer when there were still some places available at the end of the table. You didn’t take the time to look at JJ’s seat, next to who she was. It was like she gave you the time too anyway.
As soon as you approached, she put both hands on your shoulder to make you sit. “It will be easier to check on Henry if at the head of the table.” she replied, putting a kiss on your hair before leaving you still very confused. For a few seconds.
Until you looked up and met those brown eyes that you started to know by heart until they became a mystery again.
“Very subtle, Jennifer.” you sighed. But you weren’t mad. Not at her for reading you and trying to help you. And neither at Hotch. You could tell from the little frowning, because everything was always little when it comes to expressing himself -but thankfully not little on other things-, that he was as confused as you are.
You saw him lean closer to you, his hands on the table to stay stable. And you did the same to hear him. “I didn’t…it’s not…”
You could restrain the smile on your face. You could blame it on the alcohol to not accept it. But it was a genuine reaction to him, opening himself to you. A little. “I know.” you replied, naturally putting your hand on top of his.
When Hotch freezed at your contact, you assumed you went too far. Again. And immediately take your hand off, lean back on your chair and start a new conversation with Reid to avoid your boss.
When Hotch freezed at your contact, he actually was just thrown back to weeks earlier when you couldn’t stop touching him. And for a brief second, he remembered how good it felt to be appreciated.
Sadly, it didn’t last long. Because he was incapable of keeping people he loved in his life.
Most of the dinner was bittersweet for Hotch.
The team was loud and most of you laughed so hard you had a stomach ache. And the food was so nice that Emily asked multiple times if Rossi was sure he couldn’t adopt her. The answer sadly stayed no.
And Hotch would lie saying he didn’t have a good time.
But he would also lie if he said your lack of interaction didn’t hurt him.
He noticed how you always make sure to not meet his eyes when he couldn’t stop looking at you. With the way the candle’s light was dancing on your face, he felt like discovering your traits again.
Or how you only responded when he talked to you directly. Which he stopped after a few tries.
Hotch wasn’t the only one noticing that. None of the team felt like stepping in a story they didn’t know. Even if they heart felt for their boss who felt disarmed for the first time -at least, for them. And for you, because you had your reasons to act like that.
But in the end, they did step in. Without meaning to.
When the party came to an end, they all started to organize the ride back home. JJ jumped into Reid’s car while Morgan brought Emily back to her place. Everybody left slowly.
Until there was you.
And Hotch.
“Of course.” you mumbled when you saw him and Rossi talking in the hallway. They didn’t notice you yet and you took the opportunity to watch the man that broke your heart. Because you had to be honest, Aaron still held a special place in your heart. He looked so good tonight and especially right now, with his shirt more unbuttoned than before and his jacket laying on his arm. You loved his hair a little less styled after many hours or how his eyes looked more glassy from the wine and the fatigue.
You loved many things about that man. Which made the heartbreak even more difficult to accept.
“Oh, you’re here.” Rossi noticed you and opened his arm to add you in the conversation. “Hope you enjoyed the evening.”
“It was perfect David, thank you.” you replied with a genuine smile that created the exact same one on Hotch. When you turned to him, he was surprised that your smile didn’t drop. “Can we go?” you asked and he simply nodded.
“I’m sorry.” Hotch said once you were both sitting in the car. “I didn’t plan this.”
If you had any doubt that it wasn’t his fault, you were now sure that he wasn’t the thinker of this situation. From the way he couldn’t look at you or how his hands were shaking before he put them on the wheel. “I know.”
Without a surprise, the ride was calm. Hotch was a silent driver, focusing on the road and the music coming from the radio for a low volume. And you appreciated that. You did back then when you saw each other because it was peaceful. You still did. How ironic that the ride to your place felt more like home than the idea of going to your own apartment.
It was a memory of a better time. Of coming home from cases with Aaron, going to your place because it was more serene to him than his silent home. The only thing missing was his hand grabbing yours now and then during the drive. Multiple times, Hotch actually started to move his hand before remembering he couldn’t do that no more.
When he finally parked, you turned to him to thank him. Even, maybe, probably, apologizing for your attitude tonight. But he spoke before you.
“I shouldn’t have done that.”
You frowned. “Driving me home? I mean, Rossi could have given a room for the night but I really appreciate you dri…”
“Breaking up with you.”
The silence came back. Because you didn’t know what to answer. Sure, he shouldn't have done that.
Aaron shouldn’t have looked at you after spending another night with you. Not after sharing a hotel room with you in San Francisco during all the cases. Not after making love every single night that week there to forget about the atrocity of the world outside. To feel loved. To give love.
Not after making you believe that this could become a routine. Something normal. Something real. Something that he thought could become real too.
No, he shouldn’t have looked at you from where you were laying: on your bed, still naked under the sheet. While he was putting on his shirt from yesterday. And said “We shouldn’t do that.” Four words. Not more. Not an explanation because of course Aaron Hotchner didn’t have to explain himself. He was the boss, after all.
And you were so mad that morning, knowing that this could come but believing it wouldn’t, that you didn’t ask for more. You only gave him an emotionless “ok”.
“After San Francisco,” Aaron started, “I got scared. Because I’m your boss. Because this felt natural. I really wanted this to continue, but at what cost? Too many scenarios came to me during the flight back. What if something happened to you during a case. What if we break up and we can’t work together properly. What if someone finds out. Who should leave, you or me? And you knew I was being selfish because if that happened, I know people above would make sure I wasn’t the one fired.”
Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was your heart, but when he looked at you after opening his heart to you like that, more than ever before, you felt the tears coming. Because for the first time since the break up, you were able to stop this idea of an arrogant Hotch that took what he could and threw the rest away. You saw again the Aaron that you fell in love with: the broken man that was trying his best to breathe and find happiness again.
“In any scenario, I lose you. I stupidly believe that having control over that loss would be easier. But it’s even harder to know I broke your heart and mine at the same time and couldn't do anything to fix them.”
“But why…” you said softly, moving a little closer to him. “Why imagine and accept the worst when everything was great?”
“Because life has always been difficult and I stopped believing good things could happen to a man like me.” he let out a sad laugh. “I lost my wife, I didn’t know how to be a good dad to my son, I sometimes feel overwhelmed and incapable of doing my job right. Why would things be great with you?”
It was a genuine question. Aaron felt like happiness was an unknown concept in his life. Anytime something good happened, something bad came right after. He couldn’t even appreciate the soft hand you put on his cheek now.
“Because you deserve to be happy, Aaron.” you whispered. He let you put your forehead against his. You remembered how it appeased him back then. “Please, stop rejecting the ones that want to love you. We are here for you.”
“We?”
“There still can be a us if you want to.”
Aaron closed his eyes. He needed to think about that. He wanted you. He wanted to give himself to you. But it meant fighting against his fears. Can he be strong enough for you? Like you could read his mind, you added “We can fight together.”
Slowly, he brought a hand to your neck to have you even closer and to kiss you. A soft, sweet and small kiss on your lips. A promise that he couldn’t say outloud but he wanted you to understand. Sure, Aaron needed love. But he needed someone willing to fight against the world with him and for him.
“You know, things could have been a little easier if you told me that instead of breaking up with me when I was naked.” you said against his lips which made him laugh.
“Would you accept compensation for that moment?”
“I have all night, all day and all my life for you.”
Holding hands, you brought Aaron back to the place he felt the more at peace these past years. But in all honesty, he started to think that maybe any place with you would be a peaceful one.

✨ShadowPeach Bio Parents Bio AU Q&A! 30/12✨
Welcome to the Q&A! A space where I can answer related or similar question about the Shadowpeach Bio Parents AU! If you submitted your ask anonimously, then you’ll have to check the whole post if it’s answered here, if it’s not, worry not! Your asks might have been used for a future comic or just in the queue~
@pandorainabox ha chiesto: Hope this isn't a dumb question, but do you plan to/already are posting the bio parents ah anywhere where it can be viewed all in one piece? With the between posts in tumblr,it gets confusing and I still don't quite know how to navigate it so I was curious if I could binge read it anywhere all in one clean read? (I constantly want to re-read it lmao,it brings me so much joy,its so damn cute!!) Anyway apologies for the random question!! I love your work, you're doing so good and I hope you have an absolutely wonderful rest of your day/night! Thank you so much for taking your time to read and respond if you do so!! 💚💚🌙
i mean… I THINK the masterpost is the easiest way to read it for now (and once you read one chapter you press “NEXT” at the end of it.)
if I would put it, let’s say, on Webtoon (which I can’t) it kind of would be the same thing. A list if chapters, when you click on one it opens the chapter with the 10-20 panels and then you click the “next” to go to the next one.
i don’t think putting all chapters from one part would be nice since it would be a super duper long list of panels (and the page would take a lot to load with so many medias) and one Part of the comic contains multiple arcs.
i’m open to suggestions though!
@robinpika ha chiesto: I was just wondering why is wukong kaiju form unstable? What inspired you to go that route
it was an headcanon of my of why we never see it in the show, even though it is present in JTTW AND war forms are… well normal in LMK, so I figured he must have a reason why he didn’t use it, considering it could have spare them a lot of trouble giving its power.
@imafluffycupcakey ha chiesto: I can't find the option to ask anonymously oof— Enyway this is Tumblr and that's what I'm here for. Ever made a design for a Red son and MK kid? From your AU I mean (ignoring every nature law for a second). Also, where did you got that name for MK from? Is something from Jurney to the west? Mainly thanks to your AU I am going to try and read that book (has more them a 1000 pages :') )
we all subconsciously agreed that the spicynoodle lovechild is Kai from lego ninjago and MK real name is his name in the chinese dub.
@avencaeheng ha chiesto: Can you reccomend any websites to watch lmk? 🙏
You can find MOST of the episodes on youtube. BUT you need also the specials to understand the story. If I link you a site in 2 weeks it will be down. The best is that you join the Lego Monkie Kid Fanspace discord. They have links to see the show and they update them every once in a while.
@astro-lmk-enjoyer ha chiesto: Another silly headcanon <3 Since MK unlocked he’s monkey form he started teething like a baby monkey but… adult. I don’t know how baby monkey teethe but when dogs teethe they get a lot more bite-y and the bites hurt a lot more than before teething. I can imagineMK getting a lot more bitey with things, like chewing food longer then needed be and maybe when he’s play fighting with the baby monkeys he bites one and it chirps and Wukong is like: ! One of my children is in need! And he discovers MK is teething and does something idk yet. After having given my evidence… Do you think this would happen? Does MK have fangs in his human form like how some people draw him?
hi! I guess he did have a period in which he had a little teething.
no, his human form doesn’t have fangs, because his human form is just a kind of glamour/shapeshift. In the AU the monkey form became his normal form (since it always has been his original form to begin with)
toomanylegos ha chiesto: Hey, I just want to say I absolutely adore your ShadowPeach comic and the beautiful art with it. I went through nasal surgery on the 19th, and seeing an update from you really helped soothe my nerves about it, so thank you! I can't wait to see more updates throughout my recovery :D burry-penguin ha chiesto: As a spicynoodle shipper I love your work sm and what ur doing for this community KEEPING US FEED FOR DAYSSS!! 🔥🍜 🔥🍜 You’re so amazing and keep doing what you’re doing because you’re a damn good story teller and artist. You’ll go so far someday! You’ve helped put a smile on my face on my best and worst days just from seeing each new update and going absolutely fuckin feral over it and I thank you for that 🫶 imafluffycupcakey ha chiesto: Not really a ask. I would just like to say I inhaled your AU comic like a vacum cleaner in less them a day, also big fan of the art style. Anonimo ha chiesto: I'm recovering from a toxic relationship and the shadowpeach bio parents au is helping me think through everything ,, The love these monkies show me how relationships are supposed to make you feel good... thank u
turtlewearingclothes ha chiesto: Howdy! I just wanted to say thank you for making your amazing comic, and being the reason I got into Lego Monkie Kid. I've heard of the show, but I never watched it. Then I came across your comic like, 2-3 weeks ago? And after binging it, I decided to watch the show, and now I'm obsessed lol. Thank you!
AWWWW THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE LOVE!!!♥️♥️♥️
@selfdestructivecat ha chiesto: Hey so I recently binged your LMK comic because I absolutely fell in love with your ISAT x COTL comic and knew anything you made would be amazing. I’ve never seen LMK though so I’m sure I lost some of the context (it was still so good though, I’m really rooting for everything to work out for the characters!) But I decided to give the actual series a try because of the comic! And here was where I planned on writing you a message after a few episodes to thank you for getting me into a new series, but… I’m on episode one. I only watched the intro. Dude. IM ABSOLUTELY HOOKED. THE ANIMATION! THE STYLE! THE CHARACTERS! I’m so so excited to watch more (which I’m gonna do now!) but thank you so much for bringing this series to my attention!!!
ahaha welcome to the club!, now you can enjoy both comics!
@therivergirl ha chiesto: I remember back in the beggining of eclipse arc you mentioned that Mac feels insecure about his body being part of the reason he's hesitant to take of his clothes even in front of Wukong and it being part of the reason (aside from basic decency) that Wukong looked away. And now in this part Mac appears butt-naked to help Wukong out, adding yet another layer of vulnerability...gah! (Maybe I should finally watch LMK because I feel I would be doubly obsessed with this comic then...)
For Mac being exposed was the last of his issues considering that what he was seeing was Wukong at his lowest and most naked. Now excuse me while I cry.
@astro-lmk-enjoyer ha chiesto: You probably know Chang’E’s story from LMK, but did you know there is a second version of her story that I like better? In the second version Chang’E and her husband(I forgot his name), are getting used to living as mortals after being kicked out of heaven. But someone hears of the immortal elixir they have and try to steel it while Chang’E’s husband is out hunting. After getting beat up a bit she decides to drink the elixir so the robber couldn’t get it. But she instead went to the moon so she could be closer to her lover. Her husband dies because he’s still mortal, and Chang’E is left be herself. I have silly little headcanon the day MK and the others went to the moon was her and her husband’s anniversary 🙃 Bye <3
AH. OK.
Anonimo ha chiesto: Do you think that wukong and macaque act like cats?
as in they would purr? I moslty think Wukong wants to cuddle and stroke his head on Mac neck like a cat, while Mac is that one cat that sometime is annoyed when people touch him but eventually let them do it.
Anonimo ha chiesto: ✨Hear me out :3✨ MK can hear the past. He heard the fight of of prentice and held his eye like he was getting hurt by Wukong and not Macaque. So now picture this: MK has a vision again, his this time it is about how the monk used the circlet on him :3
AHAH. NOW HE CAN’T SEE TANG THE SAME WAY AGAIN. FUCK.
Anonimo ha chiesto: When I first found your comic in your TikTok account, I thought it was something very silly... How very VERY wrong I was.(As I get shot 57 times.) I hope you are taking very good care of yourself because when I downloaded Tumblr to keep myself updated to your comics(which was somewhere around 13-16 December probably) there are a LOT of panels. I enjoyed the newest and most recent parts of the shadowpeach bio parent au and can't wait for the next!!! Don't work yourself to the bone too much! Remember to take mental and physical breaks.
AGHDMHSMFYS THANK YOU!!!
Anonimo ha chiesto: Are there others who flirt with MK ? He looks good, is very powerful and has a sunshine personality. I bet there are others who are interested in him
I guess there haven’t been any for NOW.
Anonimo ha chiesto: After reading the post about swk's circlet, I srsly want him to look at mk and say "oh, hey we're matching!" ... "OH SHIT WHY ARE WE'RE MATCHING?!"
NOOOOOO!!
@delightfulcupquakequeen ha chiesto: Hey there!!! Been awhile sincenI've written an ask, just wanted to send love and being greatful that you are doig this amazing AU!!!! Appreciating ever pannel you make and gosh dammit hitting me right in the korokoro!!!! Keep being your fabulous self!!! Until next time!
THANK YOUUUUU
@l1br4rycrypt1d ha chiesto: Feel free to ignore this if it's spoilers for the comic, but are we gonna get to see the Gold Star of Venus? Just curious, since you reblogged the meme post that mentioned him during the takeover
There will be a small space for them as well, yes.
@kaothedemon ha chiesto: Fun fact, while I doubt Pigsy has all of Zhu Bajie's powers, his ancestor did have a kaiju form, which he could use if he ate a fuckton I'm sure it's not gonna appear in the story, but the idea of Heaven having to deal with 3 Kaiju dads (+ theoretically a sworn uncle) is extremely funny to me (picture courtesy of OSP's latest JTTW episode cause even when I read the book there weren't any illustrations of this)
I SAW THAT!! Man now they must add it to the show. Yeah I don't think he has ALL of Zhu Bajie's powers (I don't think he would ever want to have them) but it would be interesting if it was a high stake situation
@roseltelle ha chiesto: I think Macaque would actually enjoy working/ volunteering at the playhouse specifically doing shadow plays. But he does regular plays as well. His favorite days are when classes of children come in for field trips. Wukong often paints the backdrops, scenery, and other items for plays. They both enjoy their hobbies.
Awwwww yeah I think Macaque would totally love that.
@lmk4ever ha chiesto: Can you imagine Wukong just being out of it after he distracted the celestials for too long in his war form?
I think that as soon as he sees Macaque again he immediately switch back and become behaved again.
@peach-fury ha chiesto: I think I know the answer but theoretically... Who's war form/kajiu is stronger Wukongs or Macaque's and how would it go? I don't know it started as a thought. Now I can't stop laughing.
Wukong's is stronger.
blbllblblblll ha chiesto: do you know the pronunciation of xiaotian? ive been stuck on how to say his name for so long 😭
I know that the "Qi" is pronunced "Chi" and I think "xiao" is pronunced the same as you would read it, while I THINK the "t" in "tian" is more of a mix between a t and a c/k? I aint chinese and the way I pronounce things or read them is probably different from u cause I'm italian.
eerieqloss ha chiesto: Okay question, is Wukong's war form bigger/taller than MK's?
it's taller.
@elliboom ha chiesto: I was wondering, will Erlang Shen ever appear in the Shadowpeach parent series?
Manda pure in italiano shalla ahah.

“So, you really don’t care what he thinks?” Shoko asked as you lit her cigarette. “Even I think he was kinda harsh.”
You pocketed your lighter and leaned back against the cold college walls. “He’s got a thing for that black-haired guy.”
“Getou.”
“Sure.” You shrugged and tried to rub the ache out of your neck as you stared up at the bleak, grey skies. The air reeked of petrichor. Thankfully you’d brought an umbrella that day.
“And you’re not bothered he’s in love with Getou?” Your friend continued, her cute bobbed haircut swaying with the tilt of her head. She always looked so charming like that, when she was being a mischievous brat while pretending to be anything but.
“Dunno.” And that was the truth. “He’s not even my type. I’d rather hitch up with someone like you or Nanami. Someone less annoying. Less loud-mouthed.”
“Ooh, that'll hurt his ego.” Shoko smiled. “Well, guess you'll have to learn to deal with it.”
You took a deep breath and rubbed your face as you nodded. “Yeah.”
–
“Forever is a long time,” You mumbled, leaning your forehead against the cool touch of the window. Rain pittered and pattered, exploding off the glass like trillions of kamikaze planes. It almost birthed some sort of hurt in your chest. Best not to dwell on it, you decided.
“Hah? Are you talking to yourself again like a weirdo?” The one and only Gojo Satoru yowled before kicking you in the rear like a petulant child. “Pft! Figures. Knowing my luck, I would have to get married to a creeper.”
“Even if you married Getou, you'd still be marrying a creep,” you grumbled, dusting the dirt off your behind. “You need something? Or did you harass me just for the fun of it?”
You heard Gojo, your fiancé, scoff and shuffle behind you. “I just wanted to remind you to humble yourself! Just because I'm forced to marry you doesn't mean you're accomplished or cool or anything, got it?”
Being in his presence had you craving a cigarette. “Yeah, got it.”
“And Suguru's better than you,” he added, aloof voice bowing down beneath hardened, steeled words. “Don't forget that either.”
You bit down on your cheek to ward away the heat building under your skin, the magma sinking deep into your eyesockets and threatening to pour down your esophagus. The taste of iron washed against your tongue, and you released your flesh from between your molars. Sometimes, you wanted to keep boring down on yourself to see how much you could really take, but a fear of the answer too often made you think twice.
“This is starting to bore me,” you said, tilting your head as you caught a flicker of red in your rain-muddied reflection. You touched your fingers to your tongue and found blood coating the tips.
“Pah. I was gonna say the same!” You watched his reflection turn away. “Good luck trying to impress me.”
I'm not interested. You watched him walk away, slouching and with his hands in his pockets like he was emulating some kind of yankii character. He might have fit the bill, if he hadn't had such a ridiculous, brat side to him.
Just deal with it. You wiped the red on your uniform with a sigh. Tomorrow's a new day.
—
“Sorry about Satoru,” Getou said. He'd found you outside, tucked close against the stone wall with a cigarette in your mouth as you watched the downpour. Apparently, he liked the rain, too.
“You don't need to apologize,” you said after a drag. “It's not your fault.” Probably.
The younger sorcerer smiled a little bit wider. “In a way, it almost is; Satoru wouldn't be coming after you if it weren't for my, ah, sheer existence, I guess you could say.”
You shrugged. “You didn't ask to exist,” you said, secretly cringing as the words left your mouth.
Getou laughed. “Ho, that's a good point, I didn't think about it that way.” Another chuckle left him as he leaned against the wall beside you and stared at the rain. “It's definitely Satoru's fault, then.”
You hummed in agreement and offered him a cigarette. He blinked, but plucked one out of the box and looked it over before fumbling to tuck the end into his mouth as you held the lighter's flame out for him. You blocked the wind as he leaned in and inhaled deeply until the butt hissed to life with molten red. A beat later, Getou sputtered and coughed wildly, waving his hand through the air to dismiss your stare and the smoke's mockery.
You frowned. “You don't smoke?”
Your company wheezed and laughed, leaning back against the wall with a humbled smile. “Just wanted to see what all the fuss was about,” he said. “You and Ieiri—I feel like I never see either of you without a cigarette.”
“Life’s stressful, I guess.” You looked at the half-spent smoke in your hand, exhaling smoke through your nose as you thought.
You saw Getou lean in out of the corner of your eye. His dark hair brushed against your shoulder, though it could have just been the wind, too. “It doesn't affect you?”
“Shoko reverses the negatives,” you grumbled. You stuck the cigarette into the corner of your mouth again before pocketing your hands. “Lung cancer would be an easier out than getting ripped to shreds by a curse, besides.”
“Ho? You think so?” Getou teased. “You don't think you'd go mad? Laying in bed, suffocating in your own body, just waiting to die?”
You shrugged. “It's a human way to go, at least. Random. Maybe self-imposed, sometimes. But…normal.”
Time slowed for a second as Getou stared at you. You hazarded a look for once in your life, and caught the enigmatic thing's warm, obsidian eyes. They gave you pause, made you wonder, sent your mind reeling as you caught glints of jagged edges disrupting smooth, volcanic glass.
“Are you alright?” You asked without thinking.
Getou blinked, then smiled. “I just think you're interesting, senpai.” He glanced down at the smoldering stick caught between his fingers. “It's a surprise, to be honest. I think Satoru'll be in good hands with you.”
You stared down at the puddle pooling around your boots. Another self stared back, his image ruined and distorted by raindrops crashing into him, yet he was still clearer than the version trapped in your skull. Maybe the mirrored image was your real self, and you were just the distortion. “I don't have much of a choice, I guess. But I’ll try my best.”
“That’s all we can really hope for with partners, right?”
“Right.” A moment passed. “You’re oddly okay with this.”
“I’m not taking it personally,” Getou said. “How can I? Neither of you want to do this, anyway—you hardly even tolerate each other in the first place, and now Satoru’s gone extra crazy about it.”
The ground felt a little more solid under your feet, and you were a little more real, after those words were spoken. Even the reflection in the puddle grew clearer, revealing fresh colours once concealed by grey thoughts. Something would drain the world of its saturation again, but that moment would stay with you until that day came.
“Thanks,” you said with some difficulty. “The thought’s appreciated.”
“It’s the least I can do.” His hand clasped your shoulder and squeezed gently. You forced yourself not to shrink away from it like a slug trying to flee a grain of salt. “Thanks for putting up with him, senpai. Most people aren’t so charitable. Besides,” he said, leaning in close enough for his breath to brush against your ear, “I get whatever Satoru gets, and you get whatever he has, no? What’s yours is mine, what’s mine is yours, and all that?”
Heat scattered across your face and prickled the length of your spine. You were foolish to forget that Getou was a menace, just like Gojo, yet somehow more lethal.
“Sure.” You didn’t look at him. You couldn’t look at him. It’d be a death sentence. “You’ll get as much as he gets, I guess.”
Getou chuckled and backed off. “We’ll see.”
–
Gojo threw open the door to your room and zoomed inside, socked feet sliding against smooth hardwood. “It’s me!”
He slipped and fell as soon as you turned to look at him. “It’s you.” You snatched your walkman out of the air as it tipped off your desk following the sorcerer's tumble. “Why is it you?”
“Rude!” Gojo spat out in-between his pained whining. “I'm your fiancé! I'm allowed to be here!”
“That's not really how that works.” You watched Gojo melt into a starfish, stomach down, cheek smooshed against the floorboards.
And you turned away, back to your work of flipping through astronomical charts and comparing the dates and info with the briefs sent to you, the one third year who bothered to stay. The admins relied on you too much, yet thankfully left the role of guidance counselor and teacher to someone older and more tolerant like Yaga. Still, the sparks of hope that were Utahime and Shoko promised some future relief for—
“Mou, why aren't you more concerned for your fiancé’s well-being?” Gojo whined.
“I'm more concerned about your sudden desire for me to be concerned,” you offered.
Gojo gasped and sat up in a whirlwind. “I never said I desired your concern! That's so salacious.”
“Is this because Getou spoke with me?” You asked, leaning back into your chair with a sigh.
“No!” He rebuked. “Maybe,” he said. “You better not be trying to win him over ‘cause you’re jealous.”
“I’m not interested in him,” you snapped. “I’m not interested in you.”
“Hmmm, sounds fake. Everyone loves me.”
“Right.”
“You think there’s any chance they’ll call off the engagement?”
“No.”
“Can’t you, like, look into the future and figure it out?”
You frowned and sent him a look. “What?”
Gojo swayed side to side, hands tucked in the middle of his criss-crossed legs like a kindergartener. “Isn’t that your thing?” He huffed. “Doing pre-op stuff, predicting future events, never really going out on missions ‘cause you’re low-key kinda weak in the field?” A ghoulish snicker left him. “I mean, you’re waaay weaker than me, so—”
“I don’t divine for myself,” you said, voice sharp and jagged. “I help avoid disasters. I help foresee assignment outcomes and the best way to move towards or away from them. I don’t—” You swallowed and caught your breath. “I don’t divine the fates of people.”
“Well, maybe you should,” Gojo said, sobering slightly. “I don’t wanna do this, you don’t wanna do this, why don’t you just check and see how we can avoid it, huh? This is kind of a natural disaster in its own way.”
“It’s just an arrangement,” you rasped. “You’ll get over it.”
“I shouldn’t have to.” Gojo frowned in return. “I’m gonna be the strongest sorcerer in the world. I don’t have to settle for an arranged marriage.”
Your heart thudded dully in the back of your skull, its rising pace shaking the cage keeping it safe. Your throat tightened, too, while your thoughts warped and rippled into one another like your reflection, unable to stay whole under the devastation of falling rain, until you heard everything but nothing at once.
Your face must have done something strange for Gojo to look at you like you were a kicked puppy. You hated it, the way his expression flickered and the way his posture lost its self-righteous poise despite his childish way of sitting. He looked less-than. You didn’t mean to make him look that way.
“I—” He tried, but you raised a hand. He fell silent.
“I’ll look into it,” you said. “You’ll know if I find anything.”
If Gojo said anything more, you didn't hear it. You shut the rest of the world out and lost yourself in the positions of planets and the elements of each sorcerer available for future missions, comparing and contrasting the direction of energies to decide who would be best suited for which job. Losing your mind in the charts and data calmed your mind and spirit, easing you back down to an equilibrium until the sun rose again and you’d forgotten the turmoil of the hours before.
Morning already. You squinted looking out your window and closed the blinds with a quick snap. Right after the blinds settled, you heard a snore.
Gojo Satoru was asleep in your bed. His gangly arms hugged a pillow to his chest as he laid on his side, facing your way. The odd sight of peace on the younger sorcerer's face drew you in, bringing you close enough to get a good look at the snowy lashes resting against porcelain skin. He always looked odd to you, as though he were some kind of inhuman human, like an alien trying to put on the guise of your fellow terrans. But he was very much human; the glimpses caught of him during a distantly shared childhood proved as much.
I don’t wanna do this, you don’t wanna do this, why don’t you just check and see how we can avoid it, huh?
You'd never tell him you already tried to divine that. You could never relay properly how your mind burned with ways to discount your work and force self-doubt into what you knew to be true time after time after time; you were going to marry him. There was no way out.
But there were still some things you could judge.
You sat down at your desk and skimmed through files until you happened upon Getou Suguru. Your heart hit your ribs a little faster, a little harder, as you found his birthdate and recognized his element as metal. It suited him. Gojo, on the other hand, held earth energy. That coupled with the more Western-normalized fire sign Sagittarius, explained him in a way that could be regarded as violating by those who didn't understand.
You rubbed your brows and squeezed your eyes closed until sparking colours and inky black splotches danced against your eyelids. Charting the stars, understanding people, contrasting energies and suggesting changes to ensure favourable outcomes—all were the culmination of onmyoudou, the ancient art that carved the path and existence for jujutsu, but people feared an onymoji’s ability to read people more than the destruction caused by sorcerers. Onmyoji helped empires move, assisted in bringing them good fortune and positive outcomes; they could foretell what a person should and shouldn’t do. Clairvoyance born from calculations, and the wielding of shikigami by those clairvoyants, reeked of power and the abuse of it.
Curiosity wrenched your eyes back open. You blinked away the stars and darkness until your vision and mind cleared enough to let you draw up a timeline of events and planets you’d already looked over a thousand times.
You frowned and double checked, triple checked, quadruple checked the facts after a first look. You glanced at birthdates again and again. You looked for anomalies in the calendar and cross-referenced your sources. All stayed the same, all were as they’d been five and sixty minutes ago—you were too good at your job to be wrong, yet you still always held out hope for errors and your own incompetency.
You leaned back in your chair and picked at a hangnail. You can always redirect energy for the sake of a client, you recalled; your mother had taught you as much. It might not be perfect, but we can try. You pulled at the sliver of skin until you gouged it out of your finger, leaving a bloody wound and a shred of relief in its wake.
You jumped as your door slid open to reveal Yaga. His train of thought stopped dead in its tracks as he spied the bratty Gojo curled up in your bed, snoozing without a care.
“What the hell is he doin’ here?” Your teacher groused.
“He came in to harass me, I guess,” you said. “Then apparently fell asleep when I started ignoring him.”
“Hah. Yeah, that kid can't function unless someone's giving him attention.” Your superior sighed and crossed his arms. “Anyway, you have those predictions?”
“Yeah, I—yeah, just one second.” You rubbed your eyes and begged the rest of your lifeforce to lock it in as you saved documents and compiled them in an email for all the higher-ups to view. Something about the process made your spine rattle; it must have been the fear of not CC-ing someone by accident. “Sent.”
Yaga checked his phone as it dinged. He took a moment to skim through the forecast and nodded, letting you stand impatiently before him.
“Looks like you touched on everything,” he said as he tucked his phone away. “Good job. Now get some rest, you look like shit.”
Yaga took his leave, and you stared at the oversized baby hogging your bed.
Rest. You nudged and pushed Gojo into the wall before collapsing beside him. Right.

‘tis the season, i guess. 𑇓 ⊹ ᳝ ࣪ | ( bf!matt & fem!reader ) angsty fluff + soft hours. established relationship 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐥𝐞 wc 778
the clock on matt’s bedside table glowed with a faint red hue, its numbers ticking steadily toward 3 a.m. the room was dark except for the soft light from the window, where snow swirled lazily under the streetlamp’s golden glow. the window was cracked open just slightly, enough to let the sharp, wintry air curl its way into the room, nipping at your skin and chilling the tips of your fingers.
you sat by the window, knees drawn tightly to your chest, chin resting against them as you stared out at the falling snow. your breath fogged the glass faintly, though you didn’t notice, lost in the endless rhythm of watching each flake vanish into the ground below.
the world felt unnervingly quiet. it wasn’t the comforting stillness of rest but a hollow kind of silence that stretched far too wide. the kind that let the weight in your chest grow heavier, pressing down until you felt impossibly small. the kind that seemed to amplify the ache that had settled inside you, that had been there for as long as you could remember.
it wasn’t any one thought—not really. it was everything and nothing all at once. that indescribable pull in your chest, a tangle of dread and melancholy that you couldn’t unravel. the exhaustion of it all, of having to do this over and over, year after year, dragging yourself forward when it already felt like too much.
the holidays only made it harder. they brought with them the weight of expectation, of cheer and light and warmth, when all you could feel was the sharp edges of everything you weren’t. no amount of laughter or sparkling lights or soft music could drown out the voice inside, the one that reminded you, over and over, that it would never be enough.
you didn’t notice the cold at first. the way it had seeped into your skin, numbing your fingers, stinging at your nose. you had been downstairs earlier, curled against matt on the couch, the chatter of his family filling the room with a kind of joy you couldn’t quite reach. at some point, you’d drifted away, first in your thoughts and then up here, drawn to the window like it might hold an answer to a question you couldn’t even form.
the door creaked open softly behind you, but you didn’t react. you felt him before you saw him—the shift in the air, the quiet, familiar weight of his presence. matt didn’t say anything as he stepped inside, the door clicking shut gently behind him.
you heard his slow, steady footsteps, the soft sound of his breathing. he didn’t ask what you were doing or why you were up here alone in the cold. he didn’t need to. matt knew. he always knew.
he came to sit beside you, close but not touching, the warmth of him cutting through the chill. for a long moment, he was silent, his gaze following yours out the window. the room filled with the faint sounds of the outside world—the snow brushing against the glass, the distant hum of the heater below.
“you’re freezing,” he said finally, his voice soft, more observation than admonishment.
you didn’t respond, still watching the snow fall.
matt shifted, his movements slow and deliberate, pulling the blanket off the bed and draping it around your shoulders. his hand brushed against your arm as he adjusted it, his touch warm and grounding. he didn’t say anything else, didn’t try to fill the silence or pull you out of whatever space you were trapped in.
instead, he just sat there, his presence steady and unwavering, as if to say, i’m here.
the cold started to ebb away, replaced by the quiet heat radiating from him. you didn’t lean into him—not yet—but you let the weight of the blanket and his closeness pull you back just a little, enough to remind you that you weren’t entirely alone.
when he did move, it was with that same gentle purpose. he slipped his arms around you, lifting you effortlessly, and you let him. let him carry you from the window to the living room, where the christmas tree still glowed faintly in the dark. he set you down on the couch and settled in beside you, pulling you into his lap and wrapping the blanket more securely around you both.
matt didn’t speak again, didn’t try to fix anything or chase the feeling away. he just held you, his chin resting against the top of your head, his arms locked around you like a barrier against the world.
and for the first time that night, the quiet wasn’t so heavy.

It's Just a Game, But Really
Summary: When your brother starts dating Taylor Swift, you figure your wild dreams of dating Harry Styles are now definitely crushed. But some meddling from Jason, Travis, and Taylor may make some dreams come true after all.
Word Count: 3K
AN: This idea randomly popped into my head months ago and I couldn't get it out until I fully wrote it. I feel like this falls into the category of "Crack treated seriously" lol
Also, I understand this is niche, but as an Eagles fan (pls don't come for me) I've watched the entire Travis/Taylor relationship unfold and just thought this would be silly. Writing Jason and Travis was pretty fun too since I've been listening to their podcast for years and it was a cool challenge to write in their voices
Finally, I took creative liberty here and while I normally try to keep details as close to reality as possible, I've changed some things. So the Packers vs Eagles game that happened in Brazil now takes place in philly, and the Chiefs game on Christmas is now against Baltimore so it would be plausible to have the dinner scene in PA. None of this actually matters, this is fiction lol
Title from "So High School" by Taylor Swift
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Growing up with two athletic brothers had been quite an experience. Hundreds of hours were spent at sporting events, often bundled up to watch them play ice hockey or attend the late season football games. In your family, it was important that everyone supported each other.
It went the other way as well. Your brothers attended every spring concert, theater performance, and dance recital you were in. They were your biggest fans, always cheering you on and bringing flowers to give you.
They also took time to learn about your interests. Instead of getting annoyed when Taylor Swift’s music would play through the house, they started listening.
Especially Travis.
He liked the music, and thought she seemed pretty cool. He didn’t admit it, but you guessed that maybe he had a bit of a celebrity crush on her.
Life continued to change as your brothers left for college, then moved to different cities when they got signed to two different NFL teams. You missed them, but it was great seeing them succeed.
Jason and Travis still made time for family, even when Jason got married and started a family of his own. You and Kylie became friends right away, and you immediately loved having another girl in the family. You couldn’t wait for it to be Travis’s turn to find someone. But preferably not through his dating show.
When Taylor Swift announced her Eras Tour, you desperately wanted to go. So you were highly disappointed when you weren’t able to get tickets.
And then Travis surprised you with tickets to her show in Kansas City. By this point you had moved in with Jason and Kylie near Philly, but Travis assured you that he’d take care of all the travel logistics to get you to the concert.
You flew in the night before, getting to spend the day with your brother before heading to the stadium. It was weird to be there for a concert, having attended numerous games there before. It was cool to see how it was transformed into something almost unrecognizable.
Being there with Travis meant getting to be seated with a great view in a cordoned off section. It also meant Chiefs fans coming close to the barrier to talk to him before the show. Watching your brother trade friendship bracelets with these people was a strange moment, one you never would have imagined happening.
Through all that, there was one bracelet he had that you noticed he wouldn’t trade. Taking a closer glance you see what’s written on it and give him a confused look.
“Travis, what in the world is this?” you ask.
“Friendship bracelet,” he answers simply, dodging your true question.
“Obviously. But why is your number on here? Who is this for?”
He laughs nervously but before you can press it further another fan comes up to say hi. You can’t help but wonder what his plan is for that bracelet, even though you have a pretty good idea who its intended recipient is.
The concert begins and you have a wonderful time, dancing and singing along, Travis just as excited beside you. As it ends, Travis speaks with one of the staff members, looking slightly disappointed but not too bothered. Once again you’re left wondering what that was all about.
It’s a couple weeks later and you’re listening to the latest episode of Travis and Jason’s podcast when they bring up Travis attending the concert. Sure enough, he confirms he was trying to get that bracelet with his number to Taylor, and you have to commend him on his creativity and optimism.
What you don’t expect is for Taylor to find out about that and get in touch with Travis. Now a year later, your brother is in a happy, committed relationship with Taylor Swift. She’s come to family dinners, you’ve been next to her during Chiefs games, and she’s made it so you could come to a number of concerts on her tour. You cannot believe that this has become your life. And you have to give your brother credit for his powers of manifestation.
One afternoon you’re hanging in the living room while Jason records the podcast in the basement. He calls out for you and you go down to see what’s going on.
He hands you a set of headphones so you can hear Travis as well, and fills you in on the topic.
“So,” Jason begins. “Fans are starting to give you credit for Travis and Taylor getting together. Do you think that’s fair to say?”
You laugh for a moment that this is why you’re called to speak on what should be a sports podcast, before answering, “I think that’s fair. I mean, he did the work but I would say my childhood Swiftie obsession planted the seed.”
Travis replies, “You don’t think I would have found out about her on my own?”
“Oh you totally would have. But I got the ball rolling ages ago. Timing is everything, what if you’d been too late?”
“Alright, I’ll give you that. We can say you had a hand in this.”
“So that means you owe me,” you say.
Jason chimes in, “Yea Trav, your turn to manifest for Y/N.”
“You want me to manifest a boyfriend for our little sister?” Travis questions.
“Oh, right, wait, don’t actually do that. I forgot, Y/N’s not allowed to date until she’s forty,” Jason says, leading you to roll your eyes at his overprotectiveness.
“Ok, but if I were to try, who would it be? Y/N, who’s your celebrity crush?” Travis asks.
There’s no way you’re answering that on camera, especially with who the answer actually is. You clench your teeth and lift your eyebrows before cheekily saying, “Oh, no, I cannot answer that on the pod. That’s uhm. That’d be messy.” You then shrug and laugh, trying to play all of this off as a bit.
While Travis tries to dig and get you to answer, it clicks for Jason and he says, “Wait, I think I know who it is. Is it, uhm-”
“Don’t you dare say anything!” you exclaim to shut him up.
“Alright, alright. I won’t spill your secrets.”
“Well at least tell it to me later,” Travis says, to which you reply, “Absolutely not. I’m afraid you may actually try to meddle.”
“Who, me? No way,” he replies only to be met with an unimpressed look from you.
The boys drop the subject and you head back upstairs as they finally talk about football again.
You assume that they’ve moved on, and you’re happy when they don’t bring up your celebrity crush again.
You’re even happier when Jason tells you he’s taking you to the season opener Eagles vs Packers game in Philly. You’re super excited to be able to experience an Eagles game alongside your brother. You’re also glad you can be there for him in case it’s hard for him to watch them play without him for the first time since his retirement.
What you’re unaware of is the plan that Jason and Travis had made behind your back.
“So now you’re on board with trying to set up our little sister?” Jason had questioned during a phone call a couple weeks prior.
“Yes. And I have a way of making it happen,” Travis had answered.
“And you want me to help Y/N meet and potentially date a popstar who happens to be your girlfriend's ex-boyfriend?”
“Yes.”
“And he’s a Packers fan?”
“Yea, that is the unfortunate part. And you’re not really helping them date. That’s all on them. But you could at least help her meet him at the game.”
“This is ridiculous,” Jason says. “But I’ll do it.”
And that’s how you find yourself walking through the tunnels of the Linc with Jason before the start of the game and bumping into Harry Styles.
“Hello, I’m Harry,” he says cheerfully, holding a hand out for you to shake.
Mustering up all of your chill, you smile in return while reaching out to clasp his hand and say, “I’m Y/N. It’s so nice to meet you, I’m a big fan.”
“Well, thank you for your support,” he says.
“You kids want a picture?” There are few times you want to kill your brother, but him butting in while you’re talking to Harry Styles is definitely one of them.
“That’s alright,” you say, trying not to impose on Harry too much. So you’re surprised when Harry says, “Of course, let’s get a photo!”
You stand next to him, and his arm wraps around your shoulder and you hope your expression doesn’t show how crazy fast your heart is beating while Jason takes the picture.
“It was so nice meeting you both, I’ll see you around!” Harry says as he walks away.
Before Jason can begin to tease you, you say, “Don’t even say a word.”
He listens to you and instead just laughs as you keep walking.
After some quick hellos to the stadium staff, you’re led up to a box.
“I thought we just had seats today?” You question.
“We did. But when I was talking to Mark he said we got upgraded.”
When you step into the box you’re once again surprised by the presence of Harry Styles.
“Okay, we are definitely in the wrong place,” you murmur to your brother.
“Oh good, you guys found us!” Harry says. You look to see who he’s talking to and get shocked to see it’s you and Jason. “There were some open spots so I asked if you two could join us,” he explains.
“Wow, thank you!” You manage to squeak out.
Suddenly you’re realizing what is about to happen. A four minute encounter in the hallway? Easy. An entire three hour football game? There’s no way you make it through without embarrassing yourself.
And yet, halftime comes and you’ve so far managed not to make a fool of yourself. In fact, you’re even impressed by your witty banter as the Eagles and Packers go back and forth taking the lead.
“So, I read about these botanical gardens nearby,” Harry says.
“Longwood?” You ask.
“Yea, have you ever been?”
“A couple times. I went with Jason, Kylie, and the kids earlier this summer. They’re really nice. If you’re thinking about going, I highly recommend.”
“I actually got a couple tickets for the fountain show tomorrow night. I was wondering if you’d like to go with me.”
Quickly processing that Harry is asking you to hang out with him, possibly go on a date with him, you reply, “I’d love to!”
“Fantastic! I can pick you up in the afternoon?”
“Sounds good to me, thank you.”
You exchange phone numbers and give Harry your address, still in disbelief that all of this is actually happening.
The game resumes, and as the Eagles make their comeback you can’t help but cheer and get wrapped up in the game. And even as Harry’s team starts losing, he still stays happy and continues to joke around with you.
When the game ends and the Eagles fans celebrate, you say to Harry, “I hope this doesn’t affect us hanging out tomorrow.”
“Not a chance, in fact I think that will cheer me up,” he says with a smile.
“Hey Y/N, I’ve gotta go talk to a couple people. You hanging here or coming with me?” Of course, there’s your brother interrupting again. And while you’d rather stay with Harry, you don't really want to be separated from Jason in the post-game chaos. So you say goodbye to Harry with the promise to see him the next day.
On your way back home you put up with the teasing from your brother.
You beg him to be on his best behavior when Harry picks you up the next day.
You know he won’t.
So it’s no surprise that he gives Harry “the talk”, telling him that if he hurts you at all then he’ll have to face two NFL players.
You’re hanging in the living room with Kylie and the kids while this happens, and when the two boys come back Kylie asks,”He wasn’t too scary, was he?”
“No,” Harry replies. “Just scary enough I’d say. Shall we get going?” He addresses this last question to you and you agree, more than happy to get out of the house before Jason takes his big brother role too seriously.
When Harry drives away he lets out a deep breath and you say, “You good?”
“Yea, just- Your brother is scary.”
You start to laugh at the fact that Jason managed to actually shake up Harry Styles. But you decide to help him out by saying, “He seems scary, but it’s mostly all talk. Unless you do something to hurt me. Then you should be scared.”
“Oh I feel so much better,” he says, laughing along now.
The two of you have a wonderful time together at the gardens, especially since Harry manages to somehow fly under the radar. The fountain show is fascinating, and you stand together, Harry’s arm around your waist sending butterflies through your belly.
It’s late when you get home, and he walks you to the door like a gentleman.
When he asks if he can kiss you, of course you say yes. He leans in for a soft kiss before saying goodnight, not leaving until you’ve made it safely inside.
Jason is waiting up for you, and as you tell him about your night you watch his gruff exterior fade away. He looks truly pleased by all you have to report and you’re glad that he seems to approve of Harry.
For the next couple of months, it all goes well. Your relationship with Harry flourishes. You get to see him more than expected since he starts working out of a studio in NYC, only two hours away from where you are.
There is one mild bump in the road, occurring on a Friday evening when Jason and Kylie are supposed to be out at a party with the girls.
You’d been planning on a quiet night home alone. But then Harry had surprised you by showing up at your front door, a bouquet of flowers in hand.
One thing led to another, and before you know it you’re both on the couch. You’re straddling his lap, his hands sliding under your shirt as the two of you make out.
As much as Harry had surprised you, Jason surprises you even more by suddenly coming home and walking right into the living room.
Harry notices him first, and in an effort to save this interaction he pushes you off of him, luckily managing to shift you to the open spot next to him on the couch.
There’s a moment of oppressively awkward silence as Jason stares at the two of you, speechless. Without saying a word he walks to the mud room and grabs the diaper bag that had clearly been left behind earlier.
As he passes through the room to leave he says, “You are adults. Just- don’t be stupid. There are enough kids in this house already.”
Without waiting for a reply he leaves the house. After another moment you and Harry break into nervous laughter.
The mood is pretty much ruined but you still have a nice night watching a movie together. Harry stays with you but has to leave at lunchtime the next day.
That afternoon Jason knocks on your bedroom door, asking if he can talk for a minute.
“Sure, what’s up?” You say, not expecting the conversation that follows.
“I just wanted to ask how things are going between you and Harry,” he says.
“Oh! Good! Yea, things are going well. I really like him,” you answer.
“And you’re being safe?”
“Oh my god, Jason! We are not having this conversation,” you say as your cheeks warm at the implication.
“Well you’re living in my house, I just, you know. I feel responsible for your well being.”
“I’m safe. Very safe. You don’t have to worry.” You hope your words will convince him to drop the topic.
“And you trust him? Cause I mean, he’s a big time Popstar. Bet he’s broken a fair number of hearts before.”
You find yourself needing to defend Harry and ask, “Have you had this conversation with Travis about Taylor?”
“Fair point,” he concedes. “I just don’t want you getting hurt. You’re sure about him?”
“I am.”
“Okay then. That’s what matters. I’m only looking out for you.”
“I know. But Harry and I are happy. I promise.”
With that smoothed over, the next few weeks continue drama free.
And then comes Christmas.
Due to scheduling, Harry had yet to meet Travis. You’ve talked to your brother about him, and you know Travis has talked about all of this with Taylor. So while you’ve been told that it’s no big deal that your boyfriend and your brother’s girlfriend are exes, you’re still a bit nervous for Christmas dinner.
It’s a late meal, since you have to wait for Travis to get there after the Chiefs vs Ravens game, and you spend the afternoon entertaining your nieces and helping prepare the food.
Finally Travis and Taylor arrive, and for a moment you can’t help but feel self conscious. The room is full of NFL players and international pop stars. You excuse yourself to the kitchen for a moment to collect yourself. When you walk back to the living room, Harry greets you with the biggest smile, and those feelings of self doubt melt away. Because those big accomplishments and accolades aren’t what matter to him. What he cares about is how kind you are, how fun and loving you are. He wraps an arm around your shoulders, pressing a kiss to your head and you blush knowing your whole family is watching.
But looking up at them you see nothing but support. Your mom is practically glowing seeing all her children with their significant others, and quickly organizes a family picture.
It takes some time to get all three of the little girls to cooperate, and by the time the photo is taken, dinner is ready.
There is something surreal at seeing Harry and Taylor pass the potatoes or bread basket, never having imagined this is how your life would turn out.
But that night, as you all agree to break the internet by posting the family picture, you know you wouldn’t want it any other way.

AN: I wrote the first half of this as the Eagles lost to the Commanders, thus breaking a 10 game win streak soooo that was a bummer.
I wrote the ending after watching the Eagles beat the Cowboys, so at least that turned back around!
I think this may be the silliest thing I’ve ever written.

Picture Myself Happy
Pairing: Dean Winchester x reader
Summary: Follows the story line of episodes 17-21 of season 5. Lisa doesn't exist, instead it's (Y/N).
Warnings: canon violence, cursing, use of pet names. SMUT, oral (F and M receiving), unprotected sex (P in V), face sitting, light dirty talk.
"Dean? You okay?" you asked softly.
The look he gave you more than answered your question, but he responded anyway. "I'm about as far from okay as I possibly can be."
"I think we all are."
Dean shook his head. "My decisions have an impact on the entire world, (Y/N)--the world! And I'm sitting here denying fate. Where's that gotten me?"
"What are you trying to say?" you asked softly.
He buried his head in his hands. "I don't know...It doesn't matter."
"It matters to me."
Dean looked back up at you, face full of pain. You were certain he was going to say more, but his reply was cut off by Sam's voice calling his name.
"We've got an insane amount of demon omens in some tiny ass town in middle-of-nowhere Minnesota."
"Great," Dean mumbled as he stood up, face once again an impenetrable mask. "Guess we should get rolling."
You stood up too, but Dean cut you a look and shook his head. "Not happening."
"Dean, come on. I'm more than ready."
"Absolutely not. You almost died not that long ago. You need to rest."
"I've been resting for weeks. I feel fine," you insisted.
"Maybe she's right, Dean," Sam cut in. "We could really use the help."
"I'm the oldest and I say it ain't happening--got it?"
"Actually, I'm the oldest," Bobby quipped as he wheeled into the room. "Now, what exactly are we fighting about?"
"(Y/N) thinks she's ready to hunt again," Dean answered.
"Because I am."
Bobby's expression softened as he looked at you. "As much as I hate to say it, I think you should sit this one out (Y/N/N). Besides, I could really use your help here. You're better at research than either of these knuckleheads."
You were about to protest, but decided against it when you saw the worry in Bobby's eyes. He'd always been good to you and you owed him your life--you didn't wanna worry him more than you needed to. "Alright, alright. I'll sit this one out."
Dean nodded, seemingly pleased. "I'll call you when we get there--let you know we're safe."
You sighed, but nodded your agreement. You hated watching the boys leave to go on a hunt on their own--especially these days. End of the world and all that.
You watched in silence as Sam and Dean gathered their minimal belongings and piled into the Impala. You waved goodbye before coming back inside, expression clouded with a variety of inexpressible emotions.
The last two years had been a whirlwind for all of you--drawing all of you closer together. You cared very deeply for the Winchester boys and for Bobby, and they cared for you.
You were the same age as Sam, so the two of you hit it off with ease, but the elder Winchester was a little less trusting. The fact that Bobby trusted you meant a hell of a lot to Dean and went a long way in getting him to trust you enough to help on a couple hunts. You were a great hunter and before long, the three of you were almost inseparable.
You counted all three men as family and you knew they felt the same way about you, although you wished Dean's emotions aligned with your own. You weren't sure exactly when it happened, but you realized your feelings had changed one day during a particularly brutal hunt where you almost lost Dean. Somehow, in the midst of the shitstorm that was your lives, you'd managed to fall in love with the most emotionally unavailable man alive.
To make matters worse, you could never tell him for fear of damaging the little family unit you'd created for yourself. Instead, you stood on the sidelines, watching him flirt with every woman with legs and take more of them to bed than you'd cared to count. It made your chest ache, but you hid it well--even from Sam.
Loving Dean Winchester had never been a part of your plans, but you couldn't stop it from happening anymore than you could turn those feelings off now. Every time he walked out the door, you were terrified it would be the last time you would ever see him. You knew he was strong, but you also knew how self-destructive he could be.
He'd been different in recent months and you saw it more than anyone else did. For some reason, Dean chose to confide in you--perhaps because you listened quietly without judgment. You wanted nothing more than to see him find his way back to himself again and you hoped you were there to witness it.
"You gonna come back in or just stare off into the distance all night?" Bobby called to you from inside.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," you grumbled. "I was just lost in thought."
Bobby gave you a knowing look, which you chose to ignore. "Don't you have some research you need help with?"
He rolled his eyes, but didn't comment. He handed you a book and muttered, "Get to reading."
**********
"Dean's gone."
"What the hell do you mean he's gone?" you yelled into the phone.
"I mean he literally took off, (Y/N)!" Sam yelled back. "He killed the Whore of Babylon--which should have been impossible--and then he took off!"
"He...Sam, that's not possible."
"I was there--saw it with my own eyes."
"I, too, was there," Cas said in the background.
"Only a true servant of heaven can kill her," you said, bewildered.
"Exactly," Sam said, voice much softer than before.
"No," you whispered, disbelief lacing your words. "No--he wouldn't."
Sam understood your meaning. "I don't know anymore, (Y/N). I just don't know."
"We have to find him."
"I have a few ideas of where to find him, but I know he's going to come see you first."
"Why me?"
"To say goodbye," Sam said softly.
Your eyes fluttered closed and you could feel tears pressing against them. "I'll call you if he shows up here," you whispered.
Bobby rolled up behind you as you hung up the phone. "What's wrong?"
"I think Dean's going to say yes to Michael."
Bobby's expression perfectly matched the way you were feeling. A mixture of horror, disbelief, pain, and unbridled terror.
There wasn't much more to say after that--you were both just left to wait. There was nothing left for you to do but wait and see if he'd come home.
**********
The next day, there was a quiet knock on Bobby's front door. It was early in the morning and the older man was sound asleep in the middle of a pile of books on his desk.
You went to the door and peered out to find Dean's face looking back at you. You tugged open the door with more force than you'd intended to and stepped out onto the porch.
"Where have you been?" you snapped. "We were so worried."
"I'm sorry, (Y/N)--I should have called."
"Yes, you should have."
"I--uh, well I can't stay long, but I wanted to come see you."
"Dean, please tell me you're not going to do anything stupid."
He smiled weakly. "Now when have I ever done anything stupid?"
You didn't acknowledge his teasing like you normally would--too worried about the truth hidden behind his sarcasm. "You can't say yes," you whispered.
He gave you a pained smile. "I don't really have a choice, (Y/N/N)."
"Of course you have a choice, Dean! We always have a choice."
"If I don't--the whole freaking world burns! Do you have any idea what it's like to carry that weight on your shoulders?"
You shook your head. "I can't imagine the burden--nor can I imagine losing you to some asshole with wings."
He chuckled softly at that. "None of this matters right now--this isn't what I came here to say."
"Then what did you come here to say?"
He stepped forward and took your hand in his. You were surprised by the gesture, but you didn't pull away.
"You know, our lives are messed up. They're complicated and full of pain and darkness and death. There's not much happiness in our lives--especially not before you came into mine."
Tears filled your eyes as you listened to his words.
"When I picture myself happy, it's with you," he whispered. "I just wanted you to know that."
You inhaled sharply and the tears began to flow freely. "Dean, don't--"
He brushed his lips against your forehead, silencing your pleas.
"Don't worry, (Y/N/N). You'll be fine--I'll make sure of it. They're not getting what they want from me without meeting some conditions first."
"Dean, please don't do this. Just come inside and we can talk about it," you begged.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart," he said softly. "I have to."
As you opened your mouth to respond, Castiel appeared directly behind Dean. You knew there was a possibility he would never forgive you for this, but you couldn't let him say yes. "I'm sorry too."
He looked confused for a moment until he heard Cas's voice from behind him. "Hello Dean." As soon as the hunter turned around, Cas used his grace to knock him unconscious.
Cas looked up at you with a surprising amount of sorrow on his face. "I will carry him inside."
You watched as the angel picked up the much larger man and walked towards the door.
"Did Bobby call you?"
"He overheard at least part of your conversation--enough to know Dean was here."
You nodded and followed him inside. "Good," you whispered.
**********
"Out of all people, I thought you would understand," Dean growled at you.
"You know what? I do understand! I understand your desire to self-destruct at every turn! I see the pain and the guilt and the utter emptiness inside you every time I look into your eyes, so don't you think for a second I don't understand."
He was taken aback by the anger in your voice--he wasn't used to you yelling at him with such intensity.
"It's for the greater good!"
"Screw the greater good, Dean! What happened to stopping the devil and saving the world, huh?"
"This is the only way!" he roared.
"I refuse to believe that," you said in a much more mannered tone. "I can't believe that...if I do, then it means everything we've done has been for nothing."
His expression softened. "No, (Y/N), wait--that's not--"
You held up your hand to stop him from talking. "I can't do this."
You walked away, leaving Dean alone in the panic room to stew with his thoughts.
"He still being an ass?" Bobby asked when you came back upstairs.
"Maybe you'll have better luck," you say to Cas. Both you and Sam had struck out.
"I will try." Instead of taking the stairs like a normal person, Cas zapped himself downstairs and stepped towards the panic room.
You had gone upstairs to get something from your room when you heard Sam yell your name. You came racing down the stairs, only to find the younger Winchester looking upset.
"Where's Cas?"
"Zapped to Oz," Sam fumed. "Dean's gone too."
"Great," you mumbled sarcastically. "Go find him. We'll watch Adam."
You were sitting in a chair, watching Adam sleep--in the least creepy way possible. You felt bad for the kid--it was a shitty life to be dragged into, especially after he was already in heaven.
Just as these thoughts were crossing your mind, Adam disappeared right before your eyes. You blinked a couple times, but the cot remained empty. "Bobby!"
**********
"What the hell do you mean he's gone?" Sam snapped at you.
"As I said before, he literally disappeared," you snapped back.
"Probably Zachariah," Castiel said as he appeared, holding a beaten Dean against his side.
"Dean!" you gasped. "What happened to him?"
"I did," Cas answered.
You were surprised, but you understood the angel's anger. After all, he'd believed in the Winchesters--in Dean--so vehemently that he rebelled against heaven--against everything he'd ever believed.
Cas tossed Dean's body onto the now-empty cot while you gathered some first aid supplies. You began to clean him up, listening wordlessly to the discussion happening around you.
"I think Dean should come," Sam said suddenly.
"Are you insane?" Bobby exclaimed.
"That is a terrible plan," Cas agreed.
Sam looked over at you for input, hoping you would be on his side. "What makes you think that's a good idea?" you asked gently.
"I have to believe he'll do the right thing."
You looked down at the still-unconscious man and sighed. He was the bravest and most loyal man you knew, but you also knew he could be stubborn and self-righteous to the point of aggravation. However, you believed in him too--maybe not as much as Sam, but it was there.
"I think it's highly likely he'll walk in there and say yes without a second thought--especially if it means saving you and Adam," you said honestly. "But I have to believe that in the moment, when it really matters, he'll do the right thing."
Sam gave you a small smile and a nod of gratitude.
"Now until then, could someone please move him down to the panic room?" you asked.
After Sam had talked to Dean and told him the plan, the two of them came upstairs to prepare to leave.
"Sam mentioned you agreed with him," Dean said softly, so only you could hear.
"There's no one I believe in more than you, Dean Winchester," you admitted. "You'll do the right thing."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because I know you," you said simply.
He shook his head. "I'm gonna say yes, you know."
"I'm sure you will," you murmured. "But in that moment--the moments before you decide--I want you to remember one thing."
He waited breathlessly for your next words.
"Only you get to decide your destiny."
Surprise lit up his handsome face. Out of all the things he'd expected you to say, that hadn't been on his list. "(Y/N), I--"
"Time to go, Dean," Cas interrupted.
You offered him a gentle smile. "Go--and remember what I said."
Sam, Dean, and Cas disappeared before your eyes and you felt the familiar terror wash over you. This time was so much worse than all the others--this time you really did believe he might not come home.
**********
"Hey (Y/N/N)," Dean said softly as you opened the front door. "Did you miss us?"
The brightest smile he'd ever seen lit up your face and you jumped into his arms. "Dean..." you murmured against his shoulder.
He held you tightly before gently setting you back down on the ground. You gave Sam a hug before the smile fell from your pretty face. "Cas? Adam?"
Sam just shook his head and you sighed sadly. "Well come in. Bobby will be glad to see you both."
The boys explained what had transpired in California as you and Bobby listened quietly. You were glad Dean hadn't really said yes to Michael. You couldn't help but stare at him more than usual, eyes seeking some kind of change in him.
You waited until a lull in the conversation to ask the question that had been eating at you. "So why didn't you say yes?"
Three sets of eyes fell on you, but the only ones you cared about were the mossy green ones.
"Sammy believed in me, even when I didn't deserve it--even when I didn't have the same faith in him. He was stupid enough to take me with him because of that faith...I couldn't let him down," Dean answered honestly. "And, well--I remembered what you said."
You offered him a small smile. "Well I'm glad you did."
Dean held up his beer in a mock 'cheers'. "Screw destiny. I think it's high past time we make our own."
"I can get behind that," Sam agreed.
"That'll work for me," you murmured.
"Well not to put a damper on our middle-finger-to-destiny party, but we still don't have a good plan to defeat Lucifer," Bobby chimed in.
"Buzz kill, Bobby," Dean grumbled.
"We'll figure something out. Somehow, we always do," you added.
**********
You were standing in Bobby's living room trying to find a specific book in the overwhelming piles stacked everywhere, when your phone started to ring.
You answered it without looking at the caller ID. "(Y/L/N)."
"Uhh, am I in trouble? It's Dean."
"Oh shit," you said quickly. "No, nothing like that. I just didn't look at the screen before I answered. What's up?"
"We hit some sort of freak storm coming back, so we're staying the night at a motel we happened to pass. I just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't worry."
You smiled even though he couldn't see you. "I appreciate the heads-up. Both of you stay safe and enjoy a nice night off."
"Thanks, (Y/N/N). You too."
It wasn't until Sam and Dean returned from the trip the next day that you learned of the events that had transpired the night before. Several old Pagan gods had gathered at the motel to discuss the end of the world and of course Sam and Dean just happened to be there too.
Apparently the intent was to use the boys as bait to lure Lucifer to the hotel and kill him--at least until Gabriel showed up and told everyone how terrible of an idea it was. Unfortunately, Lucifer had already been summoned by one of the gods and he ended up killing most of the other gods, as well as his brother Gabriel.
In positive news, Gabriel had given Sam and Dean the information needed to stop this whole showdown between Lucifer and Michael. Essentially, they needed all four Horsemen's rings in order to open Lucifer's cage and throw him back into it.
"Small problem with that plan," Bobby stated as the boys finished their explanation. "We only have two rings and we have exactly zero idea where Pestilence or Death is."
"You always manage to find the silver lining, Bobby," Dean said sarcastically.
"He is right though," you said gently. "And it's technically not the only problem. Even if we magically find the other two rings, we still have one very large problem. How the hell do we trick the devil back into the cage?"
"Shit," Dean mumbled. "I hadn't exactly thought that far ahead."
"That's why you have me."
"I guess (Y/N) and I will work on a way to trick the devil, while the two of you look for Pestilence," Bobby stated with a tone of finality.
**********
"This is an absolutely terrible idea," you said angrily. "Out of all the harebrained schemes you idiots have come up with over the years, this one takes the cake. Not only is he a demon, but he screwed us once already. Do you really think working with him is a good idea?"
Dean sighed and ran his hands over his face. "I don't like it anymore than you do, (Y/N/N), but he's the only lead we have."
"Besides, I'm completely trustworthy," Crowley commented as he appeared in Bobby's kitchen. "Well, at least as long as our interests are aligned."
"Fine, but the two of you aren't going alone with him," you said firmly.
"(Y/N), we'll be fine. You should stay here with Bobby."
"I don't need a damn babysitter, Dean," Bobby snapped. "(Y/N)'s better off with the two of you idjits--at least she'll make sure you don't come home dead."
You gave Dean a mirthless smirk and he grumbled in annoyance. "Fine."
"Nice digs," you said sarcastically as Crowley led you to the ramshackle house he'd been staying in.
"No need to be rude," he said in annoyance.
"Okay, what's the plan?" Sam asked.
"The plan, Moose, is for you and the girl to stay here, while Dean and I go to get the Horsemen's stable boy."
"Absolutely not!" you and Sam yelled at the same time.
"I'm not letting my brother go alone with you," Sam added.
"And I'm not letting you come with me," Crowley snapped back. "First of all, you keep trying to kill me, and secondly, I don't like you."
"Fair enough, but why do I have to stay behind?" you asked.
"Someone has to make sure little Sammy here doesn't do anything stupid."
Sam lunged for Crowley again, but you stepped in front of him, effectively blocking his assault. "Cool it, Sam."
Dean sighed, clearly not pleased with the whole situation, but you could see the resignation on his face. You knew what he was going to say before the words even came out of his mouth. "I'll go with Crowley. You two stay here."
"Dean--" you began.
"I'll be fine, (Y/N)."
It was your turn to sigh and nod in quiet acceptance. You looked at Crowley. "If he's not back in one piece, I will hunt you down and rip your heart out."
Crowley threw his hands up in mock surrender. "Understood."
You and Sam watched the two other men walk out the door, concern etched onto both of your faces.
"I don't like this," Sam muttered.
"Well that makes two of us."
"What did you miss about 'one piece'?" you snapped at Crowley when you saw the blood and bruises on Dean's face and torso.
"He's alive. Besides, I had nothing to do with it."
The look Dean gave him said otherwise.
"Technically," Crowley clarified.
You sighed. "You okay?" you asked Dean softly.
"It hurts, but I'll be fine."
Sam started to enter the room where Crowley and Dean had stashed the stable boy (aka Brady), but his entrance was blocked by Crowley.
"What are you doing?" Sam growled.
"Stopping you from mucking this up and ruining any chance we have at finding Pestilence."
"What's he talking about?" you asked.
"Sam--" Dean started.
"Get out of my way," Sam snapped at Crowley.
The demon grumbled, but stepped aside, allowing Sam to pass.
"Sam, just wait a minute," Dean called after him.
The next twenty minutes was a blur of trying to prevent Sam from killing Brady before you could get the information you needed, Crowley going and murdering a bunch of demons, and all of you being attacked by a damn hellhound.
As the five of you raced away from the hellhound fight, you muttered lowly, "Sometimes I really hate this job."
"Tell me about it," Dean agreed.
**********
"Why exactly do I need to sit this one out?" you asked in annoyance.
"Because," Dean started as he threw another weapon into his bag. "I don't like the idea of you going up against a Horseman, okay? It's dangerous."
"Everything we do is dangerous, Dean," you countered.
He sighed. "This is different."
"For the record, I don't like the idea of the two of you going up against Pestilence either--especially without backup."
Dean threw his bag into the trunk of the Impala and slammed it shut. "This whole mess is our fault, which makes it our problem to solve. I've never wanted to involve you in this hell."
"I know, Dean," you said softly. "But like it or not, I'm involved."
He closed his eyes briefly. "Just--stay here with Bobby, please. For me."
His voice was as close to begging as Dean Winchester ever got, so you sighed deeply and nodded, biting the inside of your lip to keep from saying anything else.
Dean pulled you into a tight hug, holding you a little longer than would be typical of a friendly hug. You tried not to notice or read into it--after all, just because Dean had told you he'd pictured himself happy with you didn't mean he wanted to be with you. He hadn't brought it up since, but you supposed there really hadn't been time.
"Be safe," you whispered as he pulled away.
"I always am."
You knew he was lying, but there was nothing you could do about it. Instead, you gave Sam a hug before watching them climb into the Impala and pull away.
When you walked back into the house, Bobby sensed your mood immediately. "You alright, kid?"
"I just don't like the idea of them going after Pestilence alone."
"I know you care about them, but they're tough boys, (Y/N). They'll be alright."
You gave Bobby a sad look. "I think we both know I care too much."
The older man sighed and nodded. "I don't think you can care too much," he said gently.
You understood what he meant, but you were too worried to respond. This was the reason why hunters didn't have families--love was a weakness that would only cause you more pain in the end.
**********
"No, no, no. Absolutely not."
"If it's the only way--" Bobby tried.
"I said no," you growled.
"Then we might as well accept defeat now," Crowley said. "Without the spell, we'll never find Death in time. Without Death's ring, we can't put Lucifer back in his cage, and the end of the world is back on."
"I'm not letting you sacrifice your soul, Bobby!"
"I'll give it back," Crowley insisted. "It's a temporary loan."
"You're a demon, Crowley," you deadpanned. "Trusting you would be insanity."
"I don't see another option," Bobby said quietly.
"The only other option I can see," Crowley mused, "is using (Y/N)'s soul."
"Over my dead body," Bobby seethed.
"If I won't let Bobby do it, why the hell would I give you mine?"
"I didn't think you would. I was simply offering up the only other option."
"(Y/N)..." Bobby said gently.
"I don't like this," you murmured.
"I know. I don't like it either, but it's our best shot."
You closed your eyes. "It's your soul, so it's your choice."
Bobby looked up at Crowley and nodded. "I'll do it."
When the boys returned looking a little worse for the wear, but alive, you were relieved to see them. Especially since they had Cas in tow.
You hugged the angel, eyes scanning over him for any obvious injuries before looking at Dean and Sam. "All three of you look like hell."
"It has not been a fun day," Castiel commented.
You patted his arm gently. "I'd imagine not."
"We got the ring, though," Dean stated. "So that's really all that matters."
"We, uhh--well we managed to find Death's location while you were gone," you said, hoping they wouldn't notice the worried look in your eyes.
"How?" Sam asked.
"With my help," Crowley stated. "And some assistance from Bobby, of course."
There was something in Crowley's tone that made Dean uncomfortable. "What the hell did you do?" he demanded, addressing Bobby.
"It's not a big deal," Bobby said.
"It only cost him his soul," you said lowly, worry lacing your words.
"What? Bobby, come on! You sold your soul?" Dean yelled.
"It's my damn soul, boy!"
"Technically it's on loan. I fully intend to give it back," Crowley interjected.
"Then give it back!" Dean snapped.
"I will, once Lucifer's back in his cage and we all go back to hating each other."
"You son of a bitch," Dean growled.
You stepped in, grabbing Dean's arm to hold him back. "It was Bobby's choice, Dean. We needed the information and it was going to be his soul or mine."
Dean's expression sobered. He didn't want Bobby's soul to be at risk, but he was beyond terrified of losing you. It would kill him if your soul was damned to hell. "If you don't return it, so help me god--"
"I already threatened him," you said softly. "Repeatedly."
"With torture, I might add," Crowley put in.
Dean almost looked proud. "Good."
"Now that's all settled," Crowley began. "We'd better get to Chicago before the storm of the century wipes the Windy City off the map."
**********
Sam pulled you and Dean outside to chat before preparing for the next mission. "I wanted to talk to the two of you alone."
"Is everything okay?" you asked softly.
"I was thinking about what you said--about getting Lucifer into the cage," Sam responded. "And I think I have a plan that will work."
"Okay, let's hear it," Dean prodded.
"So I already talked it over with Bobby and he was telling me how, when he was possessed, he managed to regain control of himself long enough to keep from killing Dean and stab himself--"
"I can see where you're going with this, and I don't like it," you interjected.
Sam ignored your interruption. "I think I can do the same with Lucifer."
"I'm sorry--what?" Dean exclaimed. "Are you suggesting saying yes to Lucifer?"
"Just long enough to get him into the cage," Sam admitted. "I don't see any other options."
"Absolutely not," Dean snapped. "No way--no way in hell."
"Sam," you said calmly, "this is Lucifer! Not just some low level demon. The amount of sheer force of will you'd need to overcome him is--well it's damn near impossible."
"I know that," Sam said softly. "But I think it's worth a try."
Dean was about to say something else when Crowley appeared with a newspaper in his hand. "Read the headline."
Sam took the paper and began to read, "Swine Flu Vaccines to be Shipped Nationwide by Niveus."
The three of you looked perplexed, causing Crowley to groan. "Niveus? Ring a bell, anyone?"
"Wait," you began, "Isn't that the company Brady worked for?"
Crowley nodded. "At least one of you has a brain. Brady was the senior VP of distribution, to be specific."
"Oh fuck," you muttered.
"Please don't tell me--" Dean started.
"Pestilence had a bigger plan. Swine flu was just the beginning," Sam stated.
"The vaccine is phase two," you whispered.
"Exactly," Crowley added. "And it's full of Croatoan Virus."
"Son of a bitch," Dean muttered.
"You've gotta admit, it's an effective way to infect more than half the country all at once," Sam said quietly.
"We have to stop the distribution," you announced. "When do the trucks roll out?"
"Tomorrow," Crowley answered.
"Great," Dean said sarcastically. "So all we have to do is save Chicago, take Death's ring, and stop the mass spreading of the Croatian Virus to the entire U.S....all in one day."
You sighed deeply. "Well, if anyone can do it, it's us."
Dean looked over at you, a proud smile on his face. "That's my girl."
You blushed and looked away, unaccustomed to hearing him call you 'his girl'. Sure, he called you 'sweetheart', but he called most women that. This felt different, and you weren't sure how you felt about it.
"Let's go save the world," Sam muttered.
**********
You hadn't wanted to separate from Dean, but you knew Sam, Cas, and Bobby would likely need your help more than Dean and Crowley did. You still didn't trust Crowley and you hated the idea of leaving him alone with Dean, especially when they were facing an apocalyptic storm and going up against one of the oldest creatures in creation--Death himself.
"You just gonna sit there?" Crowley asked Bobby, drawing you out of your thoughts.
"No, I'm gonna river dance," Bobby quipped back.
"I suppose if you wanna impress the ladies," he teased. "You know, you can really make these contracts work in your favor, for instance adding your legs as part of the deal."
Everyone stared at Bobby in silence as he slowly began to move his legs for the first time in what felt like eternity. You gasped in shock when he stood up to his full height and took a step forward.
The joy was short-lived, given the tasks you were about to complete. There were a couple hugs before everyone sobered up and finished preparing to leave.
You were about to get into the van with Cas, Bobby, and Sam, when Dean approached you and called your name.
"Dean? You okay?" you asked.
He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, his hand lingering against your cheek for longer than it should have. "Just--just be careful, (Y/N/N). Please."
You smiled gently and nodded. "You too, Dean."
He pulled you into a tight hug, placing his lips into your hair, gently kissing the top of your head. "I can't lose you," he murmured so softly you almost didn't hear.
When he finally let you go, your eyes had begun to water--emotions bubbling up inside of you despite your best efforts to conceal them. "Come back to me," you choked out.
He gave you a sad smile as he stepped away. You saw him close his eyes as he swallowed thickly, clearly experiencing some complicated emotions of his own.
"Dean!" Crowley yelled. "Let's get a move on."
Dean groaned and his normal impassive mask slid back into place. "I'm coming, quit your whining." He gave you one last look before walking away from you.
Your heart ached in your chest, an overwhelming feeling of fear embedding itself in your bones. You watched him get into the driver's seat of the Impala before you managed to shake yourself out of whatever trance you were in and get into the van with the others.
"You good, (Y/N)? Bobby asked as you shut the door.
"All good," you lied. "Let's roll."
**********
"Have I mentioned how much I hate Croatoan Virus?" you grumbled as you shot yet another infected person who was charging your way.
"Maybe once or twice," Sam shot back.
"We should have known they would infect people before we got here," Bobby commented.
"Yeah, but at least we've stopped the shipment. Now we just gotta kill some Croats," you said with a smirk as you shot another one.
You and Sam traveled farther into the warehouse, following the sounds of people yelling for help. Cas and Bobby stayed up front to make sure no Croats escaped.
You were certain you had to be nearing the last of the infected people, but as you rounded a corner, one got the jump on you, tackling you to the ground. You fought with him, desperately trying to get him off of you so you could shoot him, but he sent your gun flying, leaving you defenseless.
You were starting to lose the battle, the Croat's teeth close to sinking into your flesh, when you heard a yell from behind you. The Croat looked up just in time to see Sam pull the trigger, bringing the terrifying moment to an end.
He helped you up and you retrieved your gun. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for the save."
He smiled. "Any time."
The two of you started moving back towards the front of the building. You heard a sound down one of the aisles and you started in that direction. You nodded for Sam to get back to Bobby and Cas, confident you could handle the situation on your own.
You cleared the aisle, but didn't find anything. You started heading back when you heard Sam yell and you started running. You arrived just in time to see Castiel shooting a Croat in the head to save Sam.
He looked slightly pleased with himself, gazing down at the sawed off in his hands. "These things can be useful."
You chuckled and Bobby just shook his head.
Sam got up and clapped Cas on the shoulder, a silent thank you for saving him. "Alright, let's blow some stuff up," he said with a grin.
"This has always been my favorite part of the plan," you declared with a grin of your own.
When the four of you returned to Bobby's, you were pleased to learn Dean and Crowley's mission had also been a success. Not only had they saved Chicago, but Dean had managed to secure Death's ring and learn how to use the rings.
"How old do we think Death is, exactly?" you asked.
"He told me he was as old as God...maybe older, but neither of them could remember," Dean responded.
"Holy shit..."
"Yeah. He didn't exactly strike me as the forgiving type, so I doubt he'll appreciate me lying to him," Dean commented.
"You lied to Death? About what?"
"I told him I was okay with Sam saying yes to Lucifer."
You sighed quietly, not wanting to admit which side you fell on in this particular argument.
Thankfully, Bobby did have something to add. "You and I have always treated Sam like he's a kid, despite the fact that he's one of the toughest people I know. He's been running into burning buildings since he was what, 12?"
"Pretty much," Dean replied.
"I saw him today, Dean. We both did," Bobby said, looking over at you. "He's not that little kid anymore. He's strong--stronger than any of us give him credit for. I think we should have a little more faith in his abilities."
Dean looked over at you, silently asking for your input. "I've always believed in Sam," you said honestly. "I'm not gonna stop now."
Dean nodded, a look of resigned acceptance crossing his features.
**********
You'd just gotten out of the shower when you heard a knock on your bedroom door. "Just a second!" you called.
You quickly threw on pajama shorts and an old faded Led Zeppelin t-shirt, before throwing open the door without checking to see who it was.
"Dean," you gasped in surprise.
"Hey," he murmured awkwardly. "I, uhh--I was hoping we could talk."
"Oh, umm, sure." You stepped aside to let him in, shutting the door behind him.
He sat down on the edge of your bed, looking extremely uncomfortable.
"Everything okay?" you asked worriedly.
"I'm just thinking about what's going to happen in just a couple days and I--I don't want to leave things unsaid."
"Dean, we don't have to--"
"I need to, (Y/N/N)," he interjected. "Just in case."
You didn't want to think about the very distinct possibility that one or both of you might not survive the coming fight. Your heart ached at the mere thought of losing him, and to your surprise he felt the same way.
"I don't know if we'll make it through this--all I know is I'm terrified of losing you," he admitted.
You shifted on your feet, unsure of what to say.
"I'm not used to being afraid," he whispered. "It's not a feeling I'm accustomed to experiencing and to be honest with you, I kinda hate it."
"You don't have to be afraid for me," you reassured him. "I'll be fine. You know I can take care of myself."
"In every other fight? I'd agree completely...but this isn't any other fight. This is Michael and Lucifer--it's the biggest fight of our lives."
"I know," you murmured. "But I have to believe that at the end of this, we'll all be okay."
He nodded, but you could see the emotions clouding his normally bright green eyes. "I wish I had that same faith."
You gave him a teary smile. You understood where he was coming from, especially given his past experiences.
"Any chance I can convince you to stay back?"
"There's no way that's happening, Dean. If you're facing two archangels, I'm coming with you."
He sighed. "I figured you'd say that." He exhaled deeply, clearly preparing himself to say something else. "Things have been so--intense--for the past few weeks and we haven't really had much of an opportunity to talk. We've been dancing around our feelings and I don't wanna keep doing that--I can't."
You swallowed thickly. "I don't know if I can..."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't want you to say anything if you don't really mean it. You're scared and honestly, so am I. This might be the end, Dean--the end of everything. I just don't want you to say something you think I wanna hear because we might die, or something you don't really feel just because you don't wanna be alone for the end...I can't handle that."
Dean stood up and reached out to you. You'd finally let the tears fall during your speech, and he couldn't stand to see you cry. He reached up slowly, giving you plenty of time to stop him. When you didn't, he cupped your face in his hands, gently wiping the tears from your cheeks.
"I don't want you to ever think I'm choosing you because of some misguided desire to not be alone. I meant what I said, sweetheart--you're the only person I can imagine myself being happy with. It's always been you--I've just been too scared to tell you."
You sniffled softly as he finished wiping the last of your tears. "So why now?"
He continued to gently rub his thumbs on your cheeks, almost afraid to let go of you--as if you would simply disappear. "Because I'm tired of pretending I'm not in love with you. If this really is the end, I don't wanna go out without telling you the truth. If you don't feel the same, I understand, but I needed to--"
You leaned in to press your lips gently against his, silencing the rest of his sentence. He returned your kiss, one hand sliding into your hair to pull you closer to him.
You pulled away from him to suck in some air, leaning your forehead against his as you caught your breath.
"So does that mean you might feel the same?" Dean murmured softly.
You laughed lightly. "Maybe just a little bit."
He grinned as he slipped his arms around your soft waist and pulled you closer. "Just a little?" he teased.
You giggled as his fingers gently tickled your sides. "Or a lot."
"Yeah?"
You bit your lip. "Yeah...there's a strong possibility I feel exactly the same as you."
"Oh, baby, I don't think that's possible."
You looked at him in confusion.
"I love you more than anything--I don't even have words to express how I feel about you. 'Love' just doesn't cut it."
You practically melted in his arms, a warm, teary smile gracing your face. "I don't think I can compare to that, but I do love you, Dean--so much."
Dean was one of the most deeply emotional people you'd ever known and the way he loved was no exception. He was incredibly passionate and he loved with a kind of fierceness that almost frightened you. But at the same time, you felt incredibly honored to be loved by such an amazing man--a man who was loyal, brave, strong, and sensitive (even if he would deny it).
Dean kissed you deeply, holding your body tightly against his own. You could feel his arousal stirring against your stomach and you moaned softly.
"I could kiss you all night," he whispered against your lips.
"Why don't you then?"
Dean raised his eyebrows, a small smirk playing on his lips. "How would you feel if I kissed every square inch of your body instead of just your lips?"
You inhaled sharply, his words sending a shock wave of need straight to your core. "Please," you begged softly.
"Oh baby, you're in for a treat." He grabbed you and spun around, tossing you onto the soft bed.
It didn't take long for you both to be completely naked, Dean's head between your legs, bringing you closer to blissful release with each passing moment.
Every movement of his lips and tongue had you moaning in pleasure. You tangled your fingers in his hair, nails scrapping against his scalp as he continued to drive you wild.
When your orgasm finally hit, your hips began to buck wildly, causing Dean to lay his arm across your abdomen to hold you in place. He continued lapping up your juices and teasing your clit until you dragged him away, whimpers of sensitivity leaving your lips.
He breathed heavily as he hovered over you, licking his lips in contentment. "I didn't wanna stop."
You smiled. "I could tell."
"So I can go back down and finish--" he started moving lower and you grabbed him to keep him in place.
"No!" you said, laughter filling your voice. "I'm a little too sensitive for that right now, Dean."
He groaned in displeasure. "Fine," he mumbled. "Later then."
He leaned down to kiss you and you giggled softly against his lips. His antics always made you smile, so you weren't surprised to find the experience continued in the bedroom.
As he deepened the kiss, you felt his cock brush against your core, a sharp hiss leaving your lips at the contact.
"Sorry, baby," he murmured.
"I'm not," you said lightly.
He looked down at you quizzically, but didn't have time to comment before he found himself lying on his back looking up at you.
You grinned down at him, clearly pleased with yourself.
"Whatcha doin' sweetheart?" he drawled.
"Taking what I want."
Your meaning was quickly made clear as you kissed slowly down his chest and abdomen, stopping only to make a soft sound of appreciation when you came upon his throbbing cock.
You wrapped your hand around it and licked slowly from the base to the tip, giving a flick of your tongue against it to collect the precum.
Dean moaned softly, green eyes watching you intently as you took his cock into your mouth, slowly lowering yourself down until you couldn't fit any more.
"Fuck, baby," he groaned, hand reaching for your hair to tangle his fingers in it.
You hummed happily and began to move, bobbing your head up and down in a pleasurable rhythm. Your hand wrapped around what you couldn't fit into your mouth to ensure his entire member was receiving pleasure.
Dean's hips jerked slightly each time you made a noise or a particularly pleasurable motion, and his grip on your hair tightened considerably.
You made it very obvious you were enjoying yourself, which seemed to only increase his pleasure. You very gently caressed his balls, massaging them in your soft hand as you continued to suck his cock.
Dean's moans and curses had increased in both volume and frequency, signaling he was nearing his peak. You flicked your gaze up to look at his face, meeting his dark, lust-blown eyes.
You held eye contact as you continued your motions, soft moans vibrating against his cock.
"Holy fuck," he whispered. "Gonna cum, baby."
You hummed, signaling your desire for him to let go. You continued to hold his gaze, but you switched your focus to the head of his cock, using your hand to rub the rest.
Moments later, Dean came with a low groan of your name, hips stuttering upwards as you swallowed every drop he gave you.
Just as he'd done to you, you refused to stop until he literally pulled you off his cock, aftershocks shaking his body.
"That was incredible," he breathed.
You smiled down at him, appreciating the praise.
"I wanna taste you again," he begged softly.
Your eyes widened a bit, but you couldn't deny the ache in your core. You wanted to feel him inside you so badly, but you knew he'd need some time to work back up to it.
"I suppose you can have a little taste," you murmured teasingly.
You started to get off of him, but he grabbed you to hold you in place.
"Where ya going?"
"To lay down..."
He raised an eyebrow at you. "Did I tell you to lay down?"
You inhaled sharply. "No..."
"Didn't think so, babe." He shifted so his head was flat against the mattress. "Come on up and sit on my face."
"I'm sorry--do what?"
He laughed softly. "Sit on my face."
"Umm...you sure?"
He lifted his head to look at you. "I've never been more certain."
You bit your lip and considered his words for a moment. You'd never sat on anyone's face, but you'd heard it was an enjoyable experience.
"Alright," you agreed, pulling yourself up to hover over his mouth.
"Lower, please," he said.
You lowered yourself down, but remained hovering.
"(Y/N)," he said harshly. "Sit."
You lowered yourself as much as you could without putting your full weight on him.
"For the love of god," he growled, tugging down on your hips and forcing you to actually sit.
You heard his groan and what sounded like a muffled "Fuck yes", before his tongue slipped between your folds and the assault began.
If you'd thought he was good with his mouth before, it was nothing compared to the incredible feelings you were currently experiencing. You had to press your hands against the wall to hold yourself upright and your thighs were pressed tightly around his head.
The sounds coming out of your mouth were loud enough to wake the neighbors, but you couldn't be bothered to care.
You could feel his tongue pressing into your channel while his nose bumped against your clit with every movement. The combination was amazing and your hips started to move on their own, seeking more friction to push you over the edge.
Dean's grip on your hips tightened and he started to move your hips more forcefully, letting you know it was okay to ride his face.
You took the hint and completely let go, allowing yourself to truly enjoy the experience. Dean's moans vibrated through your body, which only served to increase your pleasure.
Your thighs began to shake and your moans had turned to cries of his name as your hips made one final thrust before you fell apart. The orgasm that crashed through you was easily the most incredible one you'd ever experienced--the high both better and longer than ever before.
You lifted yourself off Dean's face as the pleasure became too much, but your legs were no longer able to support you, so you fell onto the bed beside him. You were both breathless, but Dean wasted no time in rolling over on top of you and pressing open mouthed kisses to your heated skin.
When you finally caught your breath, you murmured, "I've never felt that good in my life."
Dean smirked, pride evident on his face. "I'm not done with you yet, sweetheart."
You bit your lip and looked up into his handsome face. "Is that a promise?"
He groaned softly and his cock pressed against your core. You both inhaled sharply and he lowered his face down to kiss you deeply. "You're gonna be the death of me, you know that?"
"I hope not," you whispered back.
He smiled and placed another sweet kiss to your lips. "You ready?"
You nodded--you'd never been more ready in your life.
He gripped his cock and lined it up with your entrance, pressing in slowly to give you time to adjust.
You whimpered at the feeling, his cock stretching you in ways you didn't know you could be stretched.
"You okay, baby?"
"Mhmm," you hummed. "Keep going."
He waited another moment before continuing to push forward. By the time he was fully seated inside you, you were both breathing heavily and a light sheen of sweat graced your face.
Dean pressed soft, sweet kisses all over your face as he waited for your breathing to normalize. "Let me know when you're ready," he murmured.
After a few more moments, you took a deep breath and said, "You can move now."
Dean's hips began to move slowly, his thrusts languid and gentle at first. As your grip on his cock tightened and the soft sounds you made washed over him, his pace began to increase.
"You're so goddamn tight, (Y/N/N)," he groaned softly. "So warm and wet--fucking perfect."
You pulled his face down to yours to kiss him passionately. "Feels so good, Dean," you moaned.
He knew he wasn't going to last very long...which wasn't common for him. You just felt so incredible and he knew he was going to lose control.
He'd be damned, however, if he came before pulling at least one more orgasm from your sweet body.
Dean grabbed your legs and folded them towards your chest, flexing your body almost in half. This position allowed him to get even deeper inside you and the head of his cock pressed against your sweet spot with each thrust.
"Dean!" you gasped in surprised pleasure. Not very many men had managed to find your g-spot, but Dean wasn't exactly most men.
You dug your nails into his biceps--the only part of him you could reach, and your moans turned into an unending song of pleasure.
He'd be lying if he said he didn't love every part of it. Every noise was like music to his ears--a soundtrack he could listen to forever. The sharp pain of your nails in his skin only heightened his pleasure and the look of pure bliss on your face was an image he wanted to sear onto his brain.
He was desperate to watch you come undone--to see your beautiful face in full view as you fell apart for him. He was certain it would be an image worthy of an art museum.
"You gonna cum for me baby?" he asked lowly.
You nodded rapidly, unable to form a verbal response.
"Can feel you squeezin' me so tight."
He sped up just a little more and a sharp gasp left your lips. He knew you were seconds away--and honestly, so was he.
"Need you to cum for me sweet girl," he begged. "Wanna feel it so bad."
His words sent you over the edge, your third orgasm of the night washing over you and throwing you into pure ecstasy.
Dean held back his own impending orgasm just long enough to ask, "Can I fill you up, baby?"
"Please!" you cried.
Dean came with a loud shout of your name, hot ropes of cum filling your pussy to the brim. His thrusts slowed as you both rode out your highs and his cock began to soften as he pulled out and collapsed on the bed beside you.
"That was--" you began.
"I know," he finished.
You turned to look at him and giggled softly. He grinned widely and let out a warm laugh along with you.
"Who woulda thought we'd end up here?" he asked.
"On the brink of the end of the world," you added.
"There's no one I'd rather be with," he admitted.
You rolled onto your side to face him completely. "Same here, Dean."
He offered you a small smile tinged with sadness. "I love you, (Y/N/N)...and if we die tomorrow, then at least you'll know how I feel about you."
You closed your eyes and sighed. "I love you too. But I want a life with you, so let's try to make it through tomorrow, okay?"
He smiled warmly. "Alright, sweetheart. I'd like that."
"Good," you whispered as you nestled in close to him, laying your head against his chest and sighing softly.
Dean wrapped his arms around you tightly as if he was afraid you would disappear if he let go. You fell asleep like that, one last moment of peace and contentment before the final battle.

Champagne - Dec. 26th - word count: 624 - @wolfstarmicrofic
Sirius sighed, swilling his champagne and looking around the extravagant ballroom for someone, anyone, to distract himself with.
It was all his parents’ fault. Stupid Walburga and stupid Orion had arranged a ball for him to meet a ‘proper lady’ so that he could produce an heir. Pish fucking posh, who cared?
Well, the effort was going to be wasted anyway. Sirius had no interest in women, absolutely none.
All he really wanted at this point in time was for a knight in shining armor to grab him and run, but alas, all of the knights in the castle were fucking pricks.
Sirius put his drink down, making up his mind. He would sneak out of the castle and hopefully never return.
Of course, he had to bring his brother as well, so he made a quick pit stop.
“Reg,” he called. “Reg, I’m leaving. Come with me?”
Regulus looked up from his book. “Oh, sure,” he said, getting up. “Where to?”
“Anywhere but here,” Sirius answered. He kept looking behind him at every slightest noise, afraid that it was Walburga coming to get him. “C’mon, hurry up.”
“I am hurrying,” Regulus grumbled. They left his room together, and Sirius went to a particular window where he knew a makeshift rope lay. He secured the rope to a rock that poked out, and looked back at his brother.
“Alright, Reg. You want to go first?” Sirius asked. “Or do you want me to go first?”
“You go, Sirius, I’ll keep watch,” Regulus replied.
Sirius descended the wall, holding onto the rope tightly the whole time. He thanked Merlin that Walburga and Orion had not thought to install a moat yet, so he was perfectly fine when he reached the bottom.
“Come, now, Regulus,” he called. “Let us go forth into the world and spread word of how batshit crazy our parents are!”
Regulus descended the rope as well. “Now where do we go?” he asked.
“You come with us,” said a voice.
Both Regulus and Sirius jumped.
“W-who are you?” Sirius asked, pushing Regulus behind him, shielding him with his body, as he was so accustomed to doing. “What do you want?”
“Oh, shit. We’re in the dark, James, they can’t see us,” another voice called. “Sorry!”
Two guys on horseback moved out of the shadows. There was a tall one with a lot of scars, and there was another with messy hair.
“Sorry, guys,” Messy Hair said. “I’m James. James Potter. That right there,” he pointed at his friend, who gave a little wave, “is Remus Lupin. We’re here to- uhm, save you, I guess.”
“What?” Sirius was too busy admiring how pretty the scarred one was to understand a single word that was said.
“Me James,” James said, gesturing at himself with a big arm movement. “This Remus,” he gestured at his friend, who glared at him. “We save you now.”
“But where are you taking us?” Regulus asked.
“To camp,” Remus said. “We’ll explain on the way. Prince Sirius, you’re with me. Prince Regulus, you’re with James.”
Sirius was pretty happy with this turn of events, actually. So he got onto Remus’s horse, behind Remus. Regulus did the same with James on his horse.
And they were off.
“So, uh, where are we going?” Sirius asked Remus.
“To camp. James and I are part of a group that wants to overthrow your parents, and from what we’ve gotten from the spies in the castle, you also probably want that,” Remus answered, keeping his eyes trained on the path.
And Merlin, Sirius found that hotter than he should have.
“Mhm, great,” Sirius said.
As it turned out, a knight in shining armor did save him that day, and he couldn’t be happier.

Too Little, Too Late: Prologue
Series summary: You were hired as an assassin to kill her, unfortunately you struggle to find an opening, and the scope of things get out of hand
Series tags: Fem!Reader, reader is an assassin, angst, fluff, enemies to lovers if you squint, mentions of murder, there might be a few things I missed I'm kinda new to this
Chapter summary: You meet your latest client at a tavern, they're commissioning you to assassinate the 4th harbinger
When you walked into the tavern it was already late at night, most of the people who were there were already drunk off their asses, that was exactly what you wanted.
You made your way to the most secluded corner you could find, just to make sure the least amount of people will be able to hear your very illegal conversation, if it was up to you, you would have done it in the middle of the forest where no one is watching, but your client didn't like that, and because they were willing to pay a large amount of money you decided to humor them. Besides if someone knew how to be secretive it was you, and if you had the slightest suspicion someone caught onto you, you could just kill them too.
They arrived and went straight to you, sitting down "You said you have a big job for me in that letter, mind elaborating?" you ask them "Yes, well you see when I was little both my parents were killed by this evil organization-" and then they proceeded to tell you their entire life story, how much they struggled without their parents, how they vowed to get revenge on said organization they have come to know as the Fatui, hmm, Fatui you've heard about them, some sort of Snezhnayan diplomatic organization, surprising that a diplomatic organization would kill someone's parents, what even prompted them to do that- "Anyways, so I think she's the one who overseed the operation, I want you to kill her" they said and gave you a picture of a tall woman with black and white hair and strange looking eyes with X shaped pupils "What's her name again?" you ask "she goes by Arlecchino, if I'm not wrong she runs the house of the hearth whose members killed my parents, it's in Fontaine I'm 99% sure, of course I'll make sure travel costs are covered and your living situation there settled" they responded, Fontaine, what a nice place, being from Mondstadt a nation quite far from Fontaine you don't think any of your assasinations took place there, most of the time your operations took place in closer areas like Liyue harbor and Snezhnaya, though you'd never dare to do something inside your home city, Mondstadt was rather civil, most people got along well enough and besides even if the target was from Monsdstadt you'd never be foolish enough to carry out a murder inside your home city, but you usually wouldn't go further from those areas for multiple reasons mostly because most people didn't want to pay the costs of travel especially to places like Fontaine, most of them would cheap on you even with the further parts of Snezhnaya so let alone Fontaine, what more they usually wanted the job done as soon as possible which is why they'd ultimately go for someone closer, the only place that seemed less likely to you was Inazuma, simply because there was a massive ocean between it and you, or Natlan, but honestly that's also partially because of the Abyss situation, or so you heard.
And wait, didn't this person mention her running an orphanage there? You doubt this mission will be easy "You said she runs an orphanage?" you ask "Yes, the house of the hearth" they answer "Don't you think she'd be very skilled? I mean I'd wager to run anything for the Fatui you'd have to be pretty high up the ranks, how do you expect me to kill her?" you were just fucking around with them now, she was very intriguing so you were gonna take the job - if not to kill her then to know her "Well I don't really know, I thought that'd be up to you, but I guess just sneaking up on her won't work, you need a strategy, hmm, maybe try to get close to her, get her to trust you, find an opening and then strike!" they offer, honestly an appealing plan, again not just because you have to kill her, but just because you wanted to somewhat know her before you do "I guess that'll work fine..." you say "Well then, how much should I pay you, and should I expect any updates?" they ask "The payment is of 10,000,000 mora, not including the additional expenses and since the mission is so dangerous I expect half of it up front, as for updates, in the early stages you can expect some updates, though I'm afraid that if I am successful in getting close to her updates will have to cease since sending them will be to risky" you inform "I completely understand, I think I brought enough mora to cover the up front payment here" they say as they give you a bunch of sacks filled to the brim with mora.
*Time skip brought to you by chibi reader trying her best to catch chibi Arlecchino's attention*
You step out of the station to the court of Fontaine, your new temporary home, a small suitcase in your hand with only the necessities for the week, you'll get yourself new clothes tomorrow, today you'll focus on settling in to your new apartment the rent covered by your client, with a fake name and fake identity ready to start your life here.
A/n: Finally uploaded this yipee! honestly this has been on my mind for a while but I've only gotten motivated to write this now, constructive criticism is always welcome so long as you're nice and respectful and if you'd like to be notified when I make new chapters let me know and I'll make a taglist.
Stay safe :)

man I’m really bad at doing these on time lol
anyway, combining days two and three(and arguably four) into one because yea :3c
and this one comes with a little doodle as well
—————
Day 2 and Day 3: Cold and Scars
Ivory walked inside the house and quickly closed the door. She hummed her usual greeting as she stamped the snow off of her shoes. She waited for her fiancé’s whistle from the kitchen, but there was no response.
She probably has her headphones on still, it is earlier than usual.
She took her shoes off and left them on the mat near the door. Her hat came off next, releasing the ends of her tentacles. It and her coat were hung up on the rack on the wall and she finally left the doorway.
Ivory walked upstairs to their office. Surprisingly, the door was open, but they weren’t in there. The nearby bathroom was also seemingly empty. She checked the spare room as well before heading back downstairs.
After looking in the kitchen a second time, she finally went into the bedroom. Tsunami was lying on the bed, asleep. Somehow she hadn’t heard her calling for her and woken up.
Do I wake her? But she looks so peaceful and cute like that… I could just get in bed with her, I’m still really cold…
Ivory quickly changed out of her work clothes and climbed into the bed, next to the sleeping squid. They rolled onto their back and she got an idea for how she could warm back up even faster. She morphed into her octopus form and delicately crawled underneath their shirt to lay directly on their stomach. She curled all of her arms around themselves to get as much of her body under there as possible. Shockingly, they still didn’t wake up.
They must be really asleep… either that or I do this more often than I think I do
Watching their chest rise and fall with their breaths and listening to their heartbeats almost put her to sleep as well, not to mention how much warmer it was down there. She wanted to stay awake, though, just in case they rolled over again.
To distract herself from her sleepiness, Ivory studied her new surroundings. The shirt over her was one of Tsunami’s favorite grey sweatshirts. They always wore this one on days when they weren’t planning to leave the house, such as today.
Underneath her was their stomach; strong and muscular, but with just the right amount of “squish” as they called it. The skin was littered with markings from various battles, both ink and not ink-related. The fresher and deeper ones were much darker and more noticeable. The stains from multiple skirmishes in turf wars coloring their skin made it like a morbid mural. For some reason, though, the ones that weren’t from ink battles interested her more. Something about the animalistic scratches and bite marks was incredibly appealing —if not attractive— to her. Unfortunately it was hard to tell which ones she had made from the ones others had put there before her.
She didn’t notice she was running her tentacles along some of the marks until her fiancé moved again and grumbled.
“What the… What’s…” the collar of the shirt was lifted. “Vee, what are you… what time is it?” It was dropped again and they moved to probably grab their phone. “Why are you back so early?” They shuffled to sit up against the pillows.
Ivory crawled to poke her face out of the shirt’s collar. “Heater broke, couldn’t take it anymore…” she answered pitifully. “It’s too cold out… can I stay in here?”
Tsunami hummed playfully for a second. “Fine, I guess. But stop rubbin’ me like that, please.”
—————
ugh, idk if I’ll be able to get through everything else within the week
creative juices went down the drain like the instant I started this lol

Streamer AU 8
Part 7
Weiss:*concentrating*
Blake:Yooo. Another night, another stream. Where’s she at?
Jaune:Alice in Wonderland. She’s still getting used to the controls.
Blake: Chat should keep count of deaths.
Weiss:Chat, you’ll get timed out. Don’t listen to her.
Blake:Are you at least having fun?
Weiss:Oh definitely! I actually was in a play about Wonderland when I was little. Feels nostalgic.
Sunny Day: “We’re you Tweedle Dee or Dumb?”
Blake:Haha haaaa!
Weiss:Sun stop trying be funny now that Blake is here.
Sunny Day: “I’m always funny.”
Weiss:Wrong.
Ruby:*joins call* How’s our little gamer doing?
Weiss:I wish enemies have health bars.
Ruby:Oh, oh so you don’t know?
Weiss:…What?
Jaune:Remember how you chose a weapon and it affects your stats?
Weiss:Did I cheat myself out of a health bar!?
Ruby:You’ll get it, but you would have it already if you picked the sword. Chat, nobody tell her what level she needs.
Weiss:WHAT!?
xxxxxx
Yang:Sorry I’m late to the-
“DEEP FREEZE!”
Yang watches the Weiss run around enemies blasting blizzard and clearing areas rather proficiently.
Yang:Someone is gaming.
Weiss:Everything changed with this spell.
Yang:I am not surprised.
“Goooo!”
“The spamming begins”
“Literally in her element”
“How she fights in real life”
Jaune:Pfft, Weiss, can you actually shoot ice like this in a fight?
Weiss:Ummm, I don’t see why not.
Ruby:By the end of this game, Weiss is gonna change her entire fight style to be like Sora.
Yang:Honestly that would be a really cool IRL stream! Just a list of abilities that Weiss has to try to do! Weiss! How much money!?
Weiss:*shrugs* I gotta beat the game first.
Ruby:I’m starting a poll in chat.
Blake:For what?
“Who do you think is most worthy of a keyblade?”
Blake:No, don’t do that! I won’t win!
Weiss:This means a lot to you I guess.
Blake:Some people have their dreams of going to Hogwarts; I wanted a keyblade.
Jaune:I wanted to go to Hogwarts.
Lotus Chef: “Just sneak in 👍”
Jaune:Ren!!!!
Yang:Listen, he beat me to it.
Weiss:Ba- *clears throat* Hey how long is every world?
Jaune:Maybe an hour so? Generally speaking.
Weiss:Cool. Maybe we can get two done.
Ruby:Or get stuck on the worst boss in the game.
Weiss:…*looks at Jaune*
Jaune:It’s not the worst boss.
Weiss:*squints*
Jaune:It’s true!!!!
Combat Ready made a prediction poll. Will Weiss beat the boss in 10 or less tries?
Ruby:Oh yeah, betting time! Penny your brain is beautiful!
Weiss:My chat and call are full of enemies.
Sunny Day: “I’m here for you.”
Weiss:Fuck off, Tweedle Dumb.
Blake:Is Neptune Tweedle Dee?
Neptune: *joins call* Neptune has been minding his own business. Sunny Day is acting on his own. *leaves*
Ruby:Leaving your leader like that is crazy work.
Yang:I respect it.
Ruby:Hehe whaaat?
Weiss finally makes it back to the table in the game, spawning Trickmaster.
Weiss:Oh…
Ruby:God, it’s so ugly now. It used to red and black.
Blake:90% voted you’d lose by the way.
Weiss:And just like real life, 10% of people are gonna eat like kings.
xxxxx
5 attempts later, Weiss is staring at the game over screen deeply.
Jaune:…Need a break?
Weiss:I’m just processing.
“You’ll get it in the 11th try”
“Please, I need the points!”
“This is a fucked up boss to have in the beginning.”
“Cheat and use Jaune.”
Weiss:Guys I’m not even mad yet. Also he’s for hints and guiding, not cheating. I beat FFX alone! I can handle this!
Ruby:You’re only level 10, on proud mode. Kinda have to remember that.
Weiss:Yeah…is it cheating if I grind? *hits continue*
Everyone:It’s a JRPG
Weiss:Fair enough. I’ll get a few levels.
Jaune:No more than lvl 14.
Weiss:Oh trust me, I do not plan on being here forever. You guys might have to entertain chat a little bit while I zone out some.
xxxxxxx
Blake:You never did answer who you played as in Wonderland.
Weiss:Cheshire Cat.
Blake:Really!?
Weiss:I was the only one okay with wearing the ears.
Yang:Damn….
Ruby:Are you trying to tell me little kid Weiss was somehow the least racist in her class?
Weiss:Little kid Weiss wasn’t racist.
Cross Hare: “As supposed to grow up Weiss!?”
Weiss:No! I’m not- Velvet we had lunch together today! Look, all I’m going to say is young adolescent Weiss saw a lot of White Fang member incidents and formed opinions…
Blake:That’s fair.
“Sounds suspicious to me.”
Blake:Guys, my parents love Weiss. That might actually be the only approval that matters.
Jaune:Didn’t Weiss amaze all of Menagerie.
Blake:Uuuugghh, why’d you remind meeeeeee.
Weiss:Tell the story.
Blake:Chat? Chat, I love Weiss, but I fucking hate this woman. Historically speaking, she’s a bad cook.
Weiss:“Historically” is insane.
Yang:Blake invited us to Menagerie to meet her parents and take part in what’s essentially an island cookout feast.
Cross Hare: “I REMEMBER THIS DAY!”
Blake:Without telling anyone, Weiss decided she was going to practice cooking this seafood gumbo that’s well known m the island to try and make a good impression.
Ruby:In hindsight, you did invite a Schnee into essentially enemy territory.
Blake:All she had to do was be polite and wave! Instead she asks my own mother if she could use the kitchen and make a traditional cuisine! I was stressed for the first half hour until suddenly…a scent is in the air. Spices. The correct spices. Now there’s an entire community looking around as this petite woman in an apron is swaying to our music and cooking our food.
Yang:I’m going to fucking honest, it’s so easy to forget Weiss is musically trained. Meanwhile Blake has two left feet.
Blake:I could live with that. What I couldn’t live with was when the food- *breathes in mic* When the gumbo was ready, it tasted better than any I ever made. My own mother told me this, and I couldn’t disagree.
Ruby:It was sooooo good!
Blake: Weiss “I had a cake butler” Schnee, showed up to my home island, cooked a dish with my, and danced with my people better than me. She out Faunesed a Faunus and I have sworn I can never let this happen again!!
Weiss:Everyone said bye to me! They were so nice.
Ruby:Weiss I’m letting you know right now if I ever take you back home and I discover you practiced wrangling horses, we are fighting in the dirt.
Yang:You get one time to bake an apple pie for my dad and if it’s better, hands. You don’t see me learning opera.
Weiss:I am an over achiever.
Jaune:Keep in mind, she’s still weak with most dishes.
Weiss:Cooking is hard!
Obtained Ripple Drive
Weiss:Oh, new stuff. *opens menu*
Jaune: *looks*… Weiss? Why isn’t dodge roll equipped?
Weiss:….*covers face*
“Weiss….”
“Girl…..”
“How have you been living?”
“You are throwing!!!!”
Yang:*wheezing* It could be worse. You could’ve beaten the boss first.
Weiss:Alright everyone, back to the boss!
xxxxxx
Attempt number six was practically a joke. She beat the boss in four minutes flat.
Weiss:Are you kidding me!?
Ruby:Shake it off. Now you know to double check. Penny, please pay out the believers.
Ruby:That was half my channel points…
Weiss:YOU BET AGAINST ME!?
Ruby:I hate this boss! I thought it would cause trouble.
Jaune:Imagine if Weiss is better at this game than you?
Ruby:I’d cry.

hi there!! can i please request something new years eve themed with ten? i've been thinking about this for a while and i love your writing; i'd be so excited to read it! thank uu! ♡
ㅡ new year, same us.
🐱 a chittaphon leechaiyapornkul fic <3
୨ keeping your new year’s tradition with ten alive ୧
a/n ; thank u for allowing me to write such a sweet story <3
the soft glow of fairy lights filled the room, blending with the muffled crackle of fireworks in the distance. it was the same scene every year — confetti scattered across the floor, snacks abandoned on the table, while the two of you sat together in the middle of it all, envelopes in hand.
you glanced at the envelope resting in your lap, the one ten had written to you nearly a year ago, the edges slightly worn from where you’d handled it during the months you’d waited for this exact moment.
he sat across from you, his own envelope tucked between his fingers as he leaned back on one hand, looking far too relaxed.
“you first this time,” you said, nudging his leg lightly with your foot.
he raised a brow, feigning shock. “me? you always going first though.”
“new year, new me,” you replied with a grin. “besides, i want to see your reaction first. i worked really hard on that letter, you know.”
he rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at his lips. “fine, fine.” carefully, he tore open the envelope, unfolding the paper as if it were something precious.
the room fell quiet as his eyes began scanning the words. his playful demeanor softened, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly as he read.
you watched him closely, the faint glow of the fairy lights reflecting in his eyes. “well?” you prompted, trying to keep your voice steady.
he didn’t answer right away, still staring at the letter in his hands. his lips quirked upward slightly, but there was something softer about the way his eyes lingered on the words you’d written. finally, he let out a quiet laugh, glancing up at you.
“you really wrote this?” he asked, his voice light but filled with something you couldn’t quite place.
“no, i hired a ghostwriter,” you deadpanned, though your smile betrayed you.
he laughed, shaking his head. “seriously, though…” he paused, his fingers brushing over the paper. “this is so you. you managed to make me laugh and cry in, like, three sentences.”
“well, that was the goal,” you teased, though your chest warmed at his reaction.
he leaned back slightly, holding the letter up as if studying it from a distance. “i don’t know how you do it. it’s like you knew exactly what kind of year i was going to have.”
“i just wrote what i felt,” you said softly. “i know you better than you think.”
he smiled at that, setting the letter down carefully beside him. “your turn,” he said, nudging your envelope toward you. “i want to see if mine holds up to yours.”
you took a deep breath, picking up the envelope with slightly shaky hands. tearing it open, you unfolded the paper inside, your heart already racing before your eyes even landed on his familiar handwriting.
as you read, a quiet laugh escaped you. his letter wasn’t perfect — there were crossed-out words and a few messy scribbles in the margins, but it was so unmistakably him. he’d written about the smallest things, the moments you thought he’d forgotten: the way you always cheered him on when he felt like giving up, how you brought snacks to his practices without asking, the times you didn’t realize he was watching but made his day anyway.
you felt your throat tighten, a lump forming that you couldn’t swallow down.
“ten…” you started, your voice unsteady.
he tilted his head, his tone playful. “what? is it that bad?”
you shook your head, setting the letter in your lap. “no, it’s just…” you looked up at him, your chest feeling too full. “how do you always notice everything?”
“i don’t know,” he said with a shrug, but his smile was soft. “i guess i just pay attention to you.”
your breath hitched slightly, and you glanced back at the letter, your thumb brushing over the words. “this is… really good,” you admitted, your voice quieter now.
“better than yours?” he teased, leaning forward with a grin.
“not even close,” you shot back, laughing despite the warmth in your cheeks.
he laughed too, the sound light and easy, before settling back against the couch. “it’s kind of crazy, isn’t it?”
“what is?”
“that we’ve been doing this for so long,” he said, glancing at the scattered remnants of the year around you. “writing to each other, still saving it until now. it feels like it means more every year.”
you nodded, folding his letter carefully and tucking it back into the envelope. “it does mean more,” you said quietly. “because we’ve been through so much, and somehow, we’re still here. still us.”
his smile softened, his gaze lingering on you. “and we’ll keep doing it, right? every year?”
“every year,” you promised, leaning toward him with a smile.
outside, the muffled crackle of fireworks grew louder, marking the start of the new year. but here, in the quiet glow of fairy lights and shared memories, it felt like nothing could be better than this moment.
“you know,” he said, his voice quiet, “i think this might be my favorite part of the year.”
“what, the fireworks?” you teased, leaning beside him.
he turned to look at you, a small smile playing on his lips. “no, this. us. the letters, these moments, everything.”
your breath hitched at his words, and before you could respond, he leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. it was quick, barely a second, but it left you frozen in place, warmth spreading across your skin.
“happy new year,” he said, his voice gentle, as he pulled back just enough to look at you.
your lips parted, a slow smile creeping onto your face as you nudged his shoulder lightly. “happy new year, ten.”
and as another round of fireworks lit up the sky, you felt the quiet, certain promise of another year together, full of letters, laughter, and everything that made it yours.
with love,

ᵖⁱˢˢ ʸᵉˡˡᵒʷ ᵉʸᵉˢ ;; ᵏᵃⁱᵐᵒⁿ ⁽ᵖ:ᵉᵍ⁾
Summary: Kai Monteago wants to hear his boyfriend, Damon Maitsu, say something romantic to him. Damon Maitsu accidentally messes up when he describes Kai’s eyes as “piss yellow.” Word Count: 1,340 A/N: Last fanfic of the year! And it’s inspired by me telling my sister that Kai’s eyes are piss yellow when we were watching the official walkthrough together! I was immediately motivated to write a one shot where Kai’s romantic partner describes his eyes as piss yellow after I said that, and Damon was the first character to come to my mind. My sister encouraged me to write it, so even though the other two scenes that follow it weren’t originally planned, this is officially my last one shot and the last fanfic I post for 2024. I have no regrets! Oh, and before we start, don't forget your daily clicks!
i know i don’t need to do this, but i want to.
A few things surprised Damon Maitsu when he became Kai Monteago’s boyfriend. Kai was an influencer, so he knew he would have to deal with girls accusing him of stealing their lover, who Kai didn’t even know existed, and a huge lack of privacy online, maybe even coming into real life. That was all to be expected. What he didn’t prepare that much for was Kai himself.
“Isn’t it weird?” Kai asked him one day. “There’s 8,000,000,000 people in this world. That means there’s 16,000,000,000 eyes.”
“Some people only have one eye,” Damon replied. “We also have more than 8,000,000,000 people in the world right now.”
He huffed. “Smarty pants… Lemme rephrase that!” he quickly added before he could respond. “There’s more than 8,000,000,000 people in the world. That’s a ton of people. You can’t even count that high unless you spent a long time doing it.”
“Obviously.” Damon frowned. “What’s your point?”
Kai smiled. “There’s more than 8,000,000,000 people in this world, but you’re still my favourite. It’s a little weird, huh?”
“I… I guess…” Honestly, what he said just now was kind of stupid, but he understood where he was coming from. He ignored the feelings of butterflies in his stomach.
“Okay, your turn!” Kai exclaimed.
“My turn? For what?”
“It’s your turn to say something romantic to me! We’re dating, after all; you should say something romantic to me at some point, and I’m deciding it’s today!”
“O… Okay, uhh…” His mind went blank.
Fortunately, Kai didn’t look disappointed at his lack of an immediate answer. “I knew you were going to have trouble thinking of something. Don’t worry, I’ll help you!”
Damon was going to ask if that just made whatever he was meant to say disingenuous, but Kai had a way of doing things that Damon didn’t fully understand. It wasn’t as if he had any objections to this, anyway.
“Try something basic,” he suggested. “Like…my eyes. Talk about my eyes.”
“Your eyes? Okay. Your eyes are…” Damon’s gaze went to his boyfriend’s eyes. They shined as he waited for the end of the sentence. Kai was very expressive, which must have helped his popularity online, and his eyes were no exception. He could guess whatever Kai was feeling based on how his eyes looked alone. Even without the emotions, his eyes were a bright colour. Now that he was spending quite some time looking at his eyes, Damon noticed how the colour of Kai’s eyes were really just piss yellow.
“My eyes are…piss yellow?”
That was not meant to be spoken out loud.
“No, wait—”
“I-I guess it’s fine,” Kai said with an uneasy smile. “I know what I signed up for when I started dating you. You don’t give all that romantic stuff. So, umm… It’s all baby steps, you know? My eyes being piss yellow is okay ‘cause we’re just starting…”
No, it wasn’t. Kai obviously felt disappointed. Damon disappointed Kai. Goddammit.
. . .
Damon could have left it alone at that. He knew he wasn’t the most romantic person out there, and so did Kai. Since Kai could and would get over that piss-yellow incident eventually, there was no reason to keep thinking about it. Still, Damon kept thinking about it and went to the one person experienced enough to help him.
Despite how embarrassing it was to seek the help of a 14-year-old, let alone asking someone for help in the first place, Toshiko Kayura listened to him better than he thought she would. When he finished, she said, “Clearly, you lack knowledge of properly treating your lover. Fortunately, I saw Kai not too long ago, and he seemed fine. Of course, he may be disguising his feelings from me.”
“Can you just tell me what to do?” Damon asked.
“I’m thinking! Ladies must be given time to think of their plans.” She glared at him from behind her fan. “If you continue to disrupt me, you can forget about having my help!”
As annoying as it was, Damon forced himself to stay quiet.
Satisfied, Toshiko became silent as she thought. After a few seconds, she said, “Ladies might not say it, but a lot of us appreciate being gifted flowers. Kai isn’t a lady, but considering how he is like, I am certain he will appreciate flowers just as much as any other lady. It might be overdone or cliché, but flowers are nice gifts to get someone to help them forgive you.”
That was decent advice. “What kind of flowers should I get him?”
“Roses make this gift even more cliché, so I advise against it. I’m a fan of primroses myself. Damon’s eyes are yellow, so you can get him yellow primroses, since this situation started because you called his eyes… Since you described it with that word. Not only that, but they symbolize happiness, warmth, and love. They are better to give to someone whom you are in a long-term relationship with, and while I don’t currently know if you and Kai plan on staying together for a long time, I’m sure Kai will appreciate the flowers nonetheless. Someone like him will appreciate a simple yet sincere romantic gesture such as this.” Toshiko smiled. “I helped you, didn’t I?”
“You did,” Damon reluctantly admitted. “Thank you, Toshiko.”
Even with her fan blocking her face, Damon could see how happy Toshiko was at hearing that.
. . .
“You got me flowers?” Kai beamed as he held the bouquet of yellow primroses in his hands. “You actually got me flowers!”
“They’re primroses,” Damon added. “They symbolize—”
“I don’t care what they symbolize! You got me flowers!” Kai placed a quick kiss on Damon’s lips. “I need to figure out where to put this when I get home.”
It took him a second, but Damon managed to bring his focus away from the kiss. He needed to get to the reason why he brought him the flowers in the first place. “Kai, I’m… I’m sorry for calling your eyes…piss yellow.”
Kai’s happy expression was replaced momentarily with a confused look. “Oh, that’s what the flowers are for? Please, I’m already over that.”
“You were?”
“I guess I thought an ‘I’m sorry’ would’ve been nice, but I wasn’t expecting to get one.” Before Damon could ask him what exactly he thought of him, Kai said, “And I’m happy to get it, but I never thought you’d get me flowers too! I already forgot about that piss-eye thing the second you showed these to me! I’m so happy!”
When he took out his phone, Damon asked, “Do you have to post the flowers on social media?”
“I do! I need to let everyone know about my boyfriend! Say, ‘Cheese!’” Barely giving him a second to prepare, Kai positioned himself and the bouquet to be next to Damon and took a picture. Damon didn’t have to look at the final result to know that he looked too startled for it to be a good photo of him.
As Kai posted it online, he told him, “Oh, I just realized how I got the flowers would make a funny story time. My fans will love it!”
Kai proceeded to start rambling about what he planned on posting in the near-future, which then spiralled to other topics, each barely relating to the last. Damon didn’t contribute much to the conversation, but he was fine listening to Kai talk. He always had passion for almost anything he thought was worthy enough to talk about, which made listening to him entertaining. When he first realized that, Damon found out part of the reason why Kai was so popular online.
Right now, Damon was happy with listening to Kai talk in mostly silence while admiring Kai holding the bouquet of primroses. With the lighting, the colour of the primroses looked brighter than normal—a bright yellow, just like Kai’s eyes.

Artair understands what is happening; this is much like their first meeting, actually. That night, Jonas couldn't tell him the truth of how he was feeling until he had played a game of truth or lies. So Artair just closes his eyes as Jonas touches his forehead, because this is the way Jonas knows to be forthright with him. He can't just say what's on his mind, he needs that safety net, that ability to pretend it was just a trick or a joke or a game, to be secure enough to say whatever it is. This really isn't any different.
Which of course, meant everything Jonas 'read' from his mind was--- pretty wrong. Or off-base. But it showed what Jonas thoguht right now. He felt like he made no sense, that Artair was frustrated with him, or at least ought to be. The party bit feels out of left field without a preamble, but he supposed he could see it being a worry he had, that he had ulterior motives for hanging out? But that was clearly there. And of course, it wouldn't be Jonas if there wasn't some kind of attempt to switch gears to something comedic, however brief.
He only confirms it when he drops the act. Artair brushes back his hair.
"I....think you need to workshop your act some more, J." Artair answers, in a softer voice. "Sorry to say, but you're no good at reading minds."
There's a crack of a smile, even if it sobers again. "I don't think you're as difficult as you might think. And I'm not upset at you. I just....don't really know how to help, because a lot of your struggle now.... It's not something I can help with." Artair takes a deeper breath, thinking how to continue. He does so simply by plowing forward, in a soft-spoken voice.
"Jonas, if you said yes because you want this time to be different, then.... you have to choose to make it different. Hiding out in the kitchen and 'watching everyone have their hallmark card moment', or overcompensating or drinking aren't.... those decisions are within your power. And they're not going to make anything different if that's what you usually do at these parties."
He leans back further in his chair. "This one isn't a Vegas 'show your face and schmooze' kind of thing as it is. But... I can't do anything to fix how you feel. Except tell you that choosing to hide away is a choice. And you can make it sound as inevitable as you want, but.... choosing to reach out, to cook some and then spend time with your friends and be out there with everyone else, is also a choice you can make. It can be different if you try to do things differently. But nobody else can do that for you. I mean-- I guess someone could pull you out of the kitchen, like I said before. But.... you're not powerless either. It's not set in stone to go one way. It is if you always do the same thing, I guess. But there isn't.... actually anything to stop you from switching things up." He shrugs.
"You have better friends, kinder ones, who aren't going to be mad at you for changing your mind. Hell, they'd understand that at this time of year plans can change pretty quick. And they care enough to not forget or neglect you. If they didn't come pull you in with them, it's probably because you'd say you're busy cooking or you'd look busy and they'd....believe you? Not realize you want to be a part of things but expect an invitation, probably. You have real friends now. And I wish you would allow yourself to believe that. Just enough to at least give them a chance to prove it." He touches Jonas' back very gingerly, offering a small squeeze, to try and comfort him through the extremity of his emotion.
Jonas went quiet again for a little bit, sorting through Artair's words in his head. Then he placed the bowl of frosting aside.
He moved back towards Artair, up close to him and leaned on the counter, studying the bowl and then up at Artair with a thoughtful expression on his face. He then he raised his hand, placing two fingers against Artair's temple and two against his own. He closed his eyes and appeared to concentrate for a moment.
" I'm going to read your mind right now, shh..." he intoned solemnly. " You're thinking...you're thinking mmmm...."
His fingers tap against Artair's temple lightly. " 'I don't understand this guy at all or why he thinks and acts the way he does. I'd like to help but it's really frustrating. Also he probably is going to try to convince me to go to this party we've been talking about even though I really don't want to go either. And what the fuck is he doing anyways trying to read my mind? Weirdo. Hmmm did I put enough vanilla extract in this cookie dough? ' "
He dropped his hands and turned around, leaning against the counter again. " I know you're not trying to make me feel guilty or shitty, Artair, " he said, scuffing his feet across the floor. " I know you wanna help me because you're good like that. And me being well...me I imagine sometimes it feels like banging your head against a brick wall. I...really don't know why I said yes to begin with. Maybe it was just because I really was afraid to say no or maybe I thought at the time 'hey maybe this can be different somehow' or...god who knows. I...don't know why I have a hard time trusting people, even those I know are my friends. Well...maybe I do but honestly all that would probably give a licensed therapist a headache to sort out. I think sometimes trying to figure out why I act like I do feels like a mental game of 52 card pickup. "
He abruptly reached out and took Artair's prosthetic hand in his, intertwining his fingers with his. " I'm sorry I'm like this when all you want to do is help me to really take a good hard look at what I'm doing. I'm really sorry that...that I'm so hard to be friends with, to even talk to really. Also uhm you don't have to worry. I'm not going to try to guilt-trip you into going to the party...I don't pull shit like that. " He bit his lip again.
" I wanted to check on you and make sure you were ok, Artair. " The words came from him with vehemence as he looked up at Artair. His brown eyes brimmed with emotion. He pinched the bridge of his nose and blinked hard.

Hello dear. How are you?
Wouldn't it be cool if Metalhead had a female voice in new tmnt cartoon iteration. Idk why I thought it was gendered as female despite being a robot. Until lately I heard it saying "I will protect mutants" in a male voice. What do you think.
Was that a missed opportunity?
Personally I kind of like a mute metalhead. I grew up with 2012 metalhead which if I remember correctly, only kind of made beeps, boops, and other robotic noises
A robot voice would work for metalhead, but if I had any say in the matter I’d actually go in a different direction
I think it would be cool if the character either had a classic “robot voice”/gender neutral voice or if there was both a male and female voice speaking at the same time
Just something to add to the character, metalhead is so cool and the franchise could do so much with the robro!
#guess what I was watching when I made this answer#I love seeing all the different versions of metalhead - and really any tmnt character#but my sweet beep boop yellow robro will always have a special place in my heart#even if the series did kind of leave him in the dust after the best metalhead story arc ever#my art#tmnt#tmnt 2012#metalhead#ask box#ask answers

"Him? Oh, you know, he's kind of a loser." - probably everyone except for his younger brother.
Germaine is based on the layer of hell (Dante's Inferno) for material wealth before self, others, and god. So basically very materialistic and possessive of his belongings. Unfortunately, his younger brother qualifies as a belonging in his mind. So he does his absolute best to keep his brother safe and sound and scratch free - which is a bit tough in a post apocalyptic setting but he mostly manages.
Also a fact I just like to mention: he is incapable of lying.
#my characters#germaine wellington#welp guess who watched an anime recently (its not complete) and the dad of the mc made em think of a loserman big brother oc#its me! correct! the dad just reminded me a bit of germaine and i blame appearances mostly but also the dad was kind of a loser (i love him#and germaine does practically raise tremaine which further messes up their absolutely awful codependency#like yeah both brothers would kill for many reasons (survival and resources mainly) but !#if tremaine lost germaine hed probably cry and become incapable of moving on and eventually just dying w no reason to live#but if germaine lost tremaine hed go insane cause no no no thats HIS brother and hed start blaming everyone#and lose all rationale and logic while hes actually one of the most logic based in the group#hes a loser but dont let him lose things or he loses it more#but when hes really mad at tremaine for whatever reason his best friend is like uh huh what are you gonna do about it#and germaine is like........... we both know i will sigh and accept it and probably pat him on the head next i see him#which is incredibly honest and exactly what he does because yeah hes mad but even mad he cannot say#im gonna slap some sense into him because thats a lie he wouldn't hurt his brother#everyone in their group knows he cant lie so when he gets hesitant after being asked something they just know#hes trying to plot the best way to skirt the answer bc its apparently Not Good#he looks angry and annoyed often but its just resting bitch face#he lights up when he sees tremaine and he lightens up a little with his best friend#like lil smiles for his bestie and brother but when talking ABOUT his brother? he lights up and beams because hes so proud#of the coolest and smartest thing in his life (his brother)
