Very nice morning today. The weather has cooled off a lot. Here are some of the things I saw on my walk.

A banner year for varmints
I can't offer you any relevant scientific data, but my hunch, based on personal observations and the anecdotal reports of people I know, is that varmints are having a good year.
I'm talking chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, skunks ... and that most persistent of invaders, the groundhog (I've already trapped four of them so far this year).
My theory is that the mildness of the most recent winter and early spring allowed more of them to survive ... and breed.
I suspect it may foretell another residual effect of climate change.

You will never know the joys, the intricacies and delights of digging a hole at 3 am on the beach when the sand is cold and nobody’s around and you’re just digging and digging. You’ll never know what that’s like… unless you indulge… give in to the urges

Couple of fun updates: Ezran, the groundhog with horrifyingly overgrown incisors is now a chunky lil teddy bear shaped thing. His incisors were removed back in October and the post-surgical healing went well. Since then he has put on some muscle and chub, learned how to navigate the bedroom well, and ingratiated with the other groundhogs very well despite not being brain damaged that we know of. He's also neutered because we don't need a pile of unreleasable disabled baby groundhogs. Second pic is Fiona who was brought to us from Tennessee where she was found with her entire lower leg ripped off. (Presumably a predator got her through a fence.) She now has great tripod mobility and a number of friends in the big sanctuary rabbit group. She plays, lounges, chases, and eats as she pleases. Thank you to all of our supporters who make these transformations and sanctuaries possible. #bunny #rabbit #groundhog #woodchuck #animalsanctuary https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpqc81vOuvi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

If you have a garden, this is very important. Because nature will nature, and your garden may not result in all you expected.
being in love with the process and not the results is one of the healthiest things in the world
