Alina doesn't even know her exact age ( she said it herself) since she couldn't remember her age and her birthday date was given to her by the orphanage (the same date was given to every other child in Keramzin) but the antis settled for 16 for whatever reason.
This is why I say this fandom is full of shit. If Alina ended up being immortal anyway while the darkling was dead, those same people won't mind or come at old Alina for having a go at younger men the way they do with the darkling.
Coming to think of it: Baghra probably was already an immortal when she had Sasha because at that point she was desperate to have some company, she was probably few centuries old when she slept with whoever that mortal dude was and yet no one call mama Baghra the p or the g word smfh.
Would they keep the same energy with immortal Zoya taking lovers to her bad after everyone else she knows die??
Darkling antis stay consistent with their inconsistencies? I'll give them that
It's rant time
I swear every time a person says "Alina was a little girl/teenager" and "the Darkling was a weirdo for wanting her" my peace is replaced by an immense annoyance.
So just because the Darkling is immortal he's not....allowed to have a relationship?? So what, he must remain single and alone forever otherwise he's gonna break your white moral code? Do all immortal creatures must remain single and not have a partner?
Since when was Alina a "little girl"? She was seventeen, a certified adult by the Grishaverse standards since people are considered adults by the age of sixteen. So where did the "teenager" term came from?
And bold of you to assume that the word "teenager" even exists in this universe. In the Grishaverse you're a child and then you straight up become an adult at the age of sixteen. There are no teenage years for them.
And these passages from "King of Scars" prove it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"She's barely sixteen" - which probably means that sixteen is also the age where girls begin to get married. In this case, Elke Marie will get married even sooner and no one bats an eye (everyone except Nikolai who tries to find an excuse to not get married).
And let's not forget the fact that Alina was immortal while she still had her powers. So if she had never lost them, sooner or later she would inevitably end up with Aleksander. The only other creature who could be with her.
Literally no Grishaverse character was disturbed or raised eyebrows for Alina's age. They all chastised her for wanting the "bad guy". Because it was the choice that made them revolt not the age, since she was an adult by then. They expected much from her (to rule, to lead, to fight) because quite simply she wasn't a child.
This babyfication of female characters in every piece of media has become a trend and I don't like it. You people will never accept other fictional universes' rules and you will never allow female characters to have depth and complexity. Alina had a sexual desire for the Darkling, she had feelings for him, she wanted power and she had her own darkness inside her but you will never get her out of the "she was just a little girl" description. You make her even worse than how she was written.
And it's evident how you have no problem with Nikolai proposing to Alina and even suggesting that he wanted children with her but everyone raged when the Darkling showed interest and sexual desire for her.

Ch. 2 You meet the Black General again, among the chattering of the ball, but he has is mind set on something else. [Masterlist] Previous - Next
He's here.
This is not the first social engagement you have attended since your arrival at the Grand Palace. There's been quite a few, actually, as your distant royal relatives parade you searching for the best match. You are probably being a disappointment, because you spend your time gossiping with other girls, drinking far too much champagne and stomping on the feet of your suitors.
He's the first Grisha you see attending one of these events. He must abide by the rules of the court too and show himself at the Grand Palace, sometimes.
The tsarina introduces you, although he can't possibly be a suitor of sorts. You know a thing or two about Grisha: this man has definitely been living longer than any other in the room and cannot be interested.
He doesn't take your hand, just respectfully bows his head, and suddenly the two of you are alone in the crowd, with nothing to say.
You have something to say, actually. It would be so easy, to just speak up and say: "I can call upon moonlight, take me with you". But your tongue is tied, and when it loosens, you say the stupidest thing in the world.
"Do you dance?"
He barely smiles, seemingly amused. "Not if I can help it".
And now that you have made a fool of yourself, you hide your face in your glass of wine. You need a refill.
"Although I've heard you are quite the dancer", he adds, and you almost choke on your wine.
"Don't believe everything you hear" you stutter. "Or you'll end up with a broken foot".
That's just small talk, and it's making you uncomfortable. You shouldn't be standing next to him, you shouldn't be making jokes at him, you shouldn't be talking to him at all.
And he shouldn't be talking to you. You are pretty sure he's just playing the politics game, so you bow, ready to take your leave, when he casually leans forward and whispers:
"Who are you?"
"You heard the tsarina", you answer, not very politely. "She just introduced us".
His glare widens. He seems to contemplate all the lies you dress yourself with. "But we met before", he continues. "Haven't we?"
"You mistake me for som--"
"Don't lie to me, milady".
You turn red with rage, and get bold. "How dare you--"
"I can't keep myself from wondering what you were really doing on top of that hill above the Little Palace, at the end of night", he keeps talking, undisturbed. He has piercing eyes, and you could get lost in his glare if he weren't what he is. "It's the old story of the rebellious noblewoman? Running from an unwanted fate, perhaps?"
You can't help it. "Or running towards it", you mumble.
Someone comes to your rescue. They see a lady in distress and they just can't resist. A gentleman you've never seen before, never heard of, comes over to ask you to dance.
You turn to your interrogator with a small, triumphant smile. He's the picture of formality, now, but this time, when he bows, he takes your hand. You are wearing gloves, but you feel...
Something is awfully right, or awfully wrong. It has to do with his grasp, his eyes, the evening shadows lingering at the golden windows of the Grand Palace and, damn you, it's a full moon tonight. The Darkling looks at you and now he's smiling, and you don't know who's winning anymore.
You go on dancing, but when you spin around, he's gone.

Fr. It always irked me how LB in the 3rd book equated Alina losing her powers. Which were described as a vital part of being, what did Baghra call them again? " The breath in your lungs and the beat in your heart" or some shit to Mal's tracking skills 🤢🤢🤢
Like hello?? He can still track shit, just not the LEGENDARY MYTHICAL shit. Because tracking is acquired and can be learned, unlike having the small science, you are born with it.
How is that the same as her losing her light 🤦‍♀️
Malyen: Married a madwoman, who doesn't behave properly, but he's respected as a soldier. Keeps busying himself with what he used to have supernatural knack for, even after losing that extra skill, because ordinary people can do it too.
Alina: Despised and laughed at in her own house, but that's okay, because she knows. Lost a vital part of her being, killed a person she had metaphysical bond with. She can't ever even immitate the first, or talk about the second, because no one could (or would want to) understand.
Alina in RoW: "I'm happy now."
... because you can simply ignore long-term verbal abuse, when it's happening behind your back. Besides- The Darkling killed her shitty mother figure, so Alina simply hired herself ten more to shame her, instead of overcoming her mommy issues and become OPENLY assertive about her choices.
"I'm happy now."
... because living in unfriendly enviroment full of gloryfied disturbing memories is actually pretty comfy, once you paint the walls and turn it all into fairy tales to tell other fucked up children.
"I'm happy now."
Yaeh, when you damage certain part of brain, they're always "happy" from then on.

Darkira (Aleksander Morozova x Amira Silina) pt. 9 Puppy Shadow
A soft knock on the door echoed through Catalina's house, signaling General Kirigan's return. Amira opened the door to find him standing there, a faint smile playing on his lips.
"Amira," Kirigan began, "I was wondering if you would join me for a stroll in the city. I would like to know my soulmate better."
Amira, with a hint of defiance in her gaze, agreed to the invitation. As they ventured into the heart of the city, where the lively atmosphere enveloped them, Amira couldn't help but notice the watchful eyes that followed General Kirigan's every move.
Kirigan led Amira through narrow alleys and bustling marketplaces, his keen eyes observing everything around them. They stopped at a quaint cafe tucked away from the bustling crowds, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee enticing them.
As they sat in the outdoor seating area, Kirigan initiated a conversation that delved beyond their Grisha abilities. He asked about Amira's childhood, her dreams, and the experiences that shaped her into the person she was today. Amira, though willing to share, maintained a subtle defiance in her responses.
"I've had my share of challenges, General," she remarked, her eyes narrowing slightly. "But I don't let them define me."
Kirigan, undeterred, continued to unravel the layers of Amira's past. The defiance in her tone only seemed to deepen his intrigue. The night unfolded with shared stories, laughter, and a connection that was both reluctant and undeniable.
As they strolled through the city, Amira's defiance softened into a guarded curiosity. She found herself captivated by Kirigan's tales of ancient Grisha history and the struggles he faced. Yet, she remained determined not to let him completely unravel her secrets.
On the rooftop of a building, with the city lights sparkling below them, Kirigan gazed at Amira. "Amira, there is more to us than just our Grisha powers. I am glad to have this opportunity to know you on a deeper level."
Amira, her defiance giving way to a glimmer of vulnerability, met his gaze. "General Kirigan, don't mistake my openness for complete surrender. There are parts of me you will never know."
The night in the city had not only unveiled secrets but also showcased the defiance that fueled Amira's spirit, a spirit unwilling to be entirely consumed by the enigmatic General Kirigan.
He chuckled a little and kept walking with her "You will find I have patients to discover what those things are..we have all the time in the world.." He said
Amira didn't want to give him any clues but she knew he was also right..he had eternity..they had eternity to know one another.
As they walked though, Amira stopped when she heard the sound of puppies and she went over to where they were. She saw a group of puppies that was blonde, brown, white and one black one. General Kirigan was not usually around animals except horses.
"Do you want one?" He asked her as she looked at him.
"I wanted a pet when I was younger..Sierra and I would always talk about what we'd get." Amira said as she was still wearing his necklace.
The man in charge of the puppies was going to shoo Amira away when he saw the General and changed his mind as he looked at her. "Which one do you like young miss?" He asked her
Amira looked at the group of puppies as she thought about it before she picked up the black puppy and felt the puppy lick her cheek as she laughed. Aleksander was a bit surprised but he gave the man payment for the pup. He had a feeling he'd be rewarded in the future for doing this for her.
As they walked she held the puppy who relaxed in her arms, he questioned what her moves were going to be now that she was a pet owner and he'd paid for this puppy.
When they returned to Catalina's house, she leaned forward and kissed his cheek in appreciation surprising him. "Thank you for the puppy..Good night General." Amira said
They went separate ways that night and for a few days he had to figure out what he was going to do.
Amira had gone to the market to get puppy supplies for her new puppy she named Shadow with her grandmother Catalina. She'd gotten her food, supplies and a leash along with a collar. She loved that she had the opportunity and when a month passed and Aleksander came back to see her.
Amira was outside with her dog that had grown a bit and she was laughing as the dog was a great companion. Nico was watching her making sure no one was going to harm her and when he arrived Shadow barked.
"Seems you've been training her well." Aleksander said as Amira looked seeing the General.
"Yes, I have and Nico has helped." She said as she knew she had merely three months left here in her Grandmother's care before becoming his permanent guest. He nod as he walked over and kissed her hand.

" You tried"???? More like our "villain" is so stupid that the heroine doesn't have to do anything.
What's mind-boggling to me is that the good side who are supposed to be so good and well intentioned were the ones who are so adamant on killing the darkling like they used to live in sweet honey before what he did then he came and ruined it for them and not for once did they try to make a treaty with him or at least sit at a rounded table and talk about not fucking the country more than it actually was. All the persuasions we've ever seen were made by the devil side. This is confusing because the evil darkling shouldn't be the one to talk Alina out of the blood shed.
Why I didn't like the ending of R&R. Part 3. The heroine fights not with the cause, but with the effect
Destroying the Fold and the Darkling was tantamount to trying to heal an open fracture by applying plantain to it.
Do you know why the Darkling is not considered a villain, despite everything he has done? Because he fights the source of the problem - the oppression of the Grisha, the wars tearing Ravka apart and the parasitic monarchs. Is he being cruel? Absolutely. But does anyone else in the trilogy struggle with the above problems? No. Draw your own conclusions.
Do you know how this could be fixed? Do you know how to make the Darkling the villain that the narrative so strenuously portrays him as? Make the Fold the cause of oppression and war, not its effect. But, again, this is a problem with the entire trilogy.
What do we actually see? At the end of the trilogy, the Fold, which, admittedly, was indeed one of Ravka's problems, but by no means the main one, does not exist, but at what cost? The Second Army, which, let me remind you, together with the Darkling himself was the main military power of Ravka, actually no longer exists, Ravka itself is in debt, like silks, the wars have not stopped, the Grisha are oppressed even more, if you believe the Six of Crows, and the country is led even though resourceful, but still inexperienced children. Nikolai and the Triumvirate might as well have sent Shuhan and Fjerda an invitation to conquer Ravka, because that's exactly what was supposed to happen in reality.
Alina not only didn’t help, but did even worse, destroying the only person who, although not by the most noble methods, could really change the situation in the world along with Ravka’s only effective weapon. After this, monuments should be erected to her in Shuhan and Fjerda, because the “noble” Sun Saint made their life so easy!
As for the Fold, it was not necessary to destroy it at all, just to make a passage through it in order to open a free path to West Ravka. The Fold itself could be used as a defense. How? It's simple - expand the Fold to the borders with Fjerda and Shuhan. With a high degree of probability, this will stop the war, because sending your soldiers through a death trap inhabited by cannibal monsters in order to kill or dissect a couple of Grisha is political suicide no matter how you look at it.
But hey, this is a fantasy for teenagers, here the “bad guy” must be punished, and all the heroes will undoubtedly be fine in the end because they are so good, what am I even talking about?
To be continued in part 4…

‘you just love having an audience, huh?’ elinor @ sturmhond
tankard of rum still in hand, chrissy drops down on the bench beside elinor, leaning her back to the table as she casts her a grin. with the bandits now all drunk and merry, she can barely hear elinor’s cool voice above the wailing lyre and accordion. but hear her she does, and it’s amusing that despite the change of setting and chrissy’s entire identity . . . nothing about elinor has changed much in the years. not to chrissy. in fact, chrissy’s certain elinor must’ve made a similar comment to her back at the palace before, perhaps when they were younger. but for the decent amount of commotion chrissy could stir at a decent winter fête, she couldn’t blame the general.
still feigning drunk, she props her elbow on the table beside the mess of food, looking up at elinor in all coy innocence. ❝ it’s a good distraction, ❞ she beams, quietly tugging her lapel to reveal the wineskin sewn inside her lining, now full to the brim with rum the captain supposedly drank. there's multiple tubes running all the way to the end of chrissy’s left cuff, allowing her to empty her glass when the others weren’t looking. ❝ risa rigged everyone’s coats. ❞ while chrissy was regaling the audience with bawdy tales of adventure, her crew was insuring the bandits drank themselves sick in competition.
Tumblr media
❝ -- though i suspect bea would’ve done fine either way. ❞ she curves a brow as she glances over at her archer, currently enchanting one lady marauder in her classic fashion. chrissy wouldn’t be surprised if the woman woke up tomorrow with half her jewelry collection missing ( though otherwise, very satisfied ).
shrugging, chrissy returns to elinor with all reassurance. ❝ anyway. by the end of the evening, they’ll all be so sloshed they won’t notice if we pick off one of their own for some questioning. ❞ she winks. ( @feveredblurs )

Backstory 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 - Next
A letter came.
The tsaritsa, how thoughtful of her, had written to her distant cousin, your mother. But it wasn't about her.
She was inviting you at the Grand Palace to be her welcomed guest.
You didn't even think she knew you existed. You looked at your mother.
"Don't be naive. She wants to marry you off to some lord", she said.
You were a young woman now and your cousins had already gotten married. Everyone had expected you to do the same.
Still, it was clear to you that you could never live the life of your cousins. They weren't you. They had nothing to hide - at least, nothing like that. You could never share your secret, nor keep it from a husband, and so you had refused any proposal that came by - which weren't many, for the record, as you were known to have a temper.
"That's what distant relatives are for", your mother concluded. "Establish allegiance. And now it's your turn".
It wasn't an invitation. It was an order, and there was nothing to be done about it, but obey.
"If you step off the tracks, they will know", she kept telling you in the days before the journey, while you were packing. "Do as you are told. Stay indoors. And stay away from all Grisha, at all cost".
You wouldn't follow that last advice.
That's it. I don't even know what I'm doing. I haven't written a fan fiction in ten years. English is not even my first language. I came back here on tumblr because I need a little break from reality and just like that I found out there's not much left on tumblr nowadays. It doesn't matter. This is just for fun and if somebody is reading, well, I'm so happy I can share my fantasy with you. But that's it. Just having fun, and I hope you will be having fun with me.
PS I hated S&B season 2. Bad writing is bad writing.
