thinking about the undeniable idol group energy of the band Grima

hey, it's me, ya boy, the guy behind "young Grima was good hearted", "Shez is Thales kid" and "the final stretch of Echoes was just Alm having the worst day of his life", back again.

It just kinda hit me that Alear is probably one of the very few lords without a proper army to back him up. There are definitely others, early game Miciah, I cannot remember how to spell her name, forgive me if I'm wrong and early game path of radiance Ike, for example, but Alear is probably the one with the worst odds, cause they get a proper army later on. Alear has a rag tag band of loveable idiots and that's it. Firene's army likely is too weak to do anything but defend its own lands, Brodias army is probably completely demoralised from the loss of King Morion, so they'd be no help, Elusias army is actively against Alear and by the time they might be willing to side with them, most of their troops are probably turned into corrupted and I get a feeling that Solms military is probably too scattered and disorganised, kingdom of freedom and all, to be of much help in a proper way. Alears got like, thirty people or so, and that's it. Meanwhile they're fighting Sombrons forces, and considering that his troops are pretty much all zombies, we can assume that any fallen soldiers can just make up any losses Sombrons forces might take in a fight. Really goes to show you how impressive it is that Alear managed to pull a win off, even accounting for their multiple deaths and revives in the story.

MORGAN HEADCANON POST!!!

so i have posted my elaborate “the robins are separate entities and siblings” headcanons and i think i’ve said too many damn times that i wanna extend a similar headcanon post for morgan and now it is TIME!!

(im also a lot less nervous sharing this time teehee)

the girl one

robin’s adopted daughter. parents died after grima goes bananas and robin decided to take her under his wing. i like to think robin held out a little longer than the rest of the shepherds once the apocalypse started so he was able to teach morgan what he knew. plus she self taught herself magic and tactics using his notes even when he’s dead

can be blunt, hates being the butt of the joke, but has a pretty dry and witty sense of humor. sometimes clashes with lucina’s inability to pick up on jokes

since she was a kid when grima goes bad, she is the oldest among the second gen. older than lucina by a few years perhaps

has a close sisterly relationship with lucina. she and lucina sort of reflect robin and chrom’s relationship in the group, with the exalted leader having a wise magic man by their side. given the situation in their family tree (though morgan is adopted, she is still lucina’s cousin) i’d refrain from defining it as anything romantic (besides i hc lucina to be aroace anyway. queerplatonic relationship, perchance)

since morgan was only able to cross paths with lucina and the rest of the second-gen shepherds through her adoption from robin, it is unlikely that she will meet lucina in the good future or at least have the same very close relationship with lucina since she’ll be raised by her bio parents. (one may argue that none of the second-gen shepherds will meet or form a close band without the backdrop of acopalyptic bonding in the good timeline, but the point is that morgan will live a significantly different upbringing if the grima threat is taken care of). lucina sometimes worries about this possibility, but morgan’s conviction to change the future for the better is stronger than this uncertainty. this conviction was also probably inspired by lucina’s drive to change fate

ngl this is all i have unfortunately 😭 but i do wanna work with her more, especially her relationship with lucina

chrom and reflect (girl robin)’s son from… a different future. he does not hail from the same doomed timeline as lucina and the rest of the kiddos. instead, he’s from a timeline where grima was vanquished with the falchion (keeping reflect/the vessel alive). he was born shortly after the war ended (though in actuality he’s born after chrom and friends leave smash bros but that’s a whole other can of worms)

the youngest of the future kids

due to his unawareness of the apocalyptic future and grima in general, he has a much more jovial attitude compared to the rest of the kids

brash and a bit of a jock

has a little bit of aptitude in magic from his mom, but he has no interest in actually touching a book

lucina (and the rest of the kids) were confused about this guy’s existence and why he was sent to the past but they embrace him as one of their own anyway (he still doesn’t really know what’s going on)

tbh i have even less going on with him, but i think exploring the silly sibling dynamic he’ll have with lucina should be fun in future projects

his design is kinda messy atm, i do not know if ill fully settle on the one here idk

OH and lastly: his mark of the exalt has not surfaced yet at his age, but i think it’ll appear on either the back of his right hand (like the defile brand) or on his upper back (jojo reference). or maybe even in his right eye like inigo (but that sorta feels like his thing so i don’t wanna rip it off lmao)

(Spoilers for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia) Mila has issues. We all know that. The whole story with her and Duma is not as black and white as one would originally think playing the game. She's very misguided in how she cares for her worshippers, as her belief that humans shouldn't have to suffer and constant providing for them lead them to become lazy and hedonistic. However, she's still a goddess who cares deeply about her people (the people of Zofia) and died trying to protect them. She has a really amazing backstory in the Archanea/Valentia mythology but I don't really wanna explain it here. Look it up, it's really cool! Also her priestesses all wear the cutest outfits ever.

Naga (wiki)

Domain: Light/good/"divine"

Propaganda:

She's the original divine dragon who blessed one of her teeth to become a sick sword that's super effective against evil dragons. She also helped a band of heroes from a doomed future to travel back in time. And, most importantly, her name is really fun to use as a swear -something I did irl after I first played awakening (sweet Naga no!)

Forseti / Holsety (wiki)

Domain: Wind

Forseti may be an asshole that makes a certain someone neglect his kids, but damn if he isn’t stupidly strong. I mean, despite being a dragon god of the wind, he can bring people back to life (through possession, but still) and the weapon imbued with his power is either going to be your second or third strongest weapon, depending on if Shannam made it out alive from his joining chapter. Also Wind Dragon God is very cool despite being a Bad Dad.

we have Éowyn as the bachelorette (and of course she eventually ends up with Faramir). we also have the cast try and earn her affections. also everyone is human here as it's a modern universe

as our other notable *good choices* contestants we have; aragorn (for the dramatic plot-line of her being in love with him and him realising he doesn't want this), boromir (why not), merry (we need them to become besties somehow), maybe pippin, bilbo (sue me he'd be fun), legolas, gimli, lindir, haldir, one or both of the twins (elrohir as the only naturally flirty one or elladan as the charming-quiet-boy competition), and potentially another of the ithilien rangers.

(it would be Beregond - but Beregond is clearly the camera-man/off-stage helper who is wingmaning Faramir the entire time).

now for our bad choice contestants; sauron (fight me it'd be funny), grima (for the drama), saruman (again, for the fun & drama), one or two of the uruks

throughout the series we follow eowyn making her difficult choices, including the producers trying to keep some of the cast on for drama reasons and the others banding against it and for her.

Here's a strange ask for you, but hopefully, an amusing and thought-provoking one as well.

What wedding present would Grima buy for a couple he doesn't like? What would he choose that says 'fuck you, and enjoy your new life'?

I have been racking my brains on this all day, and can't come up with anything good.

As Tumblr's resident Grima expert, do you have any ideas? :)

Oh man this is a thought provoking one!

I mean, it would first of all depend on who are the recipients. How much does Grima Not Like Them? What was the cause? Is it reciprocated or is Grima doing a one-sided hate-on?

Then there's the question of when is this occurring? Pre or post-War? Also, is this couple Rohirric or from another culture? Because that will inform what, exactly, constitutes a "fuck you, have a nice life".

But in general...I feel like he'd go for subtle that isn't at all subtle.

Something like, purchasing them a bottle of wine with a "blessing" down the side that is to the effect of "May you have an eventful marriage that makes you grow in unique ways." But it's phrased in such a way that there's no doubt about what "eventful" and "growing in unique ways" is meant by it (bad! bad eventful! "he cheated on me three times with my own sister then robbed our own child's college apprenticeship savings" eventful!).

I could also see him hiring a skald for the wedding and everyone thinks this is very generous of him, except the skald sings the Rohirric equivalent of "Goodbye Earl" and "No Body, No Crime" and "Torn" all night.

So it'd be something like that OR.

OR.

You'd get a "Grima Engineered Crises".

Because Grima is a coward and he likes to work behind the scenes. So, depending how much he hates these people he might go out of his way to make sure the wedding has Problems.

On the day of, he gives them a generous gift. He is perfectly well behaved. He is only ever polite, if not outright sycophantic. Behind the scenes? He's the reason there isn't enough food because someone told the people bringing the food that the guest list was cut in half. He's the reason all the flowers are things like belladonna and nightshade. He's why the groom and brides wedding clothes are just a little off. He's the cause for the delays in the arrival of the wedding band/skald/whatever because someone told them the wrong day. He is why there's a sudden at fight between in-laws. He tells grandma Agi that her future grandson-in-law said that her dead husband was a coward on the battle field but it's done Grima-style. "Agi, you didn't hear it from me, but I just wanted you to know because I felt it was only fair that you understand what sort of man your beloved granddaughter is marrying". He's the one who makes the future spouses think they're both cheating on each other.

So he sits there, drinking all the very expensive wine, smiling as he watches chaos and misery unfold. But he bought the couple a very nice cutlery set.

Maybe they'll use it to stab each other.

Isn't it absolutely wild how Grima's entire existence has been defined by the control others want over them?

“That thing has become a dangerous existence that nobody can control. It pains me, but I have decided to destroy it with my own hands.” (But compare how Forneus adores his Risen because "They are faithful and only listen to [his] orders.")

"It's the world that wants me to be evil."

"I can't be trusted! This cursed blood in me must somehow give…my father…dominion over me…"

And yet when Grima speaks to the Shepherds, playing up their villainy, it's "I told you. I'm Robin. The Robin that murdered [Chrom] and became the fell dragon, Grima." It's, to Robin, "You were supposed to choose godhood over your pathetic band of servants."

As if Grima ever truly wanted any of that. Please.

They have so little agency that they've come to believe it doesn't even exist.

Monolithe - Black Hole District

Progressive Doom/Dark Metal from Paris, France

Black Hole District is a story in a Tech-Noir style, inspired by Blade Runner, but also Dark City, Matrix, Ghost in The Shell, as well as “hard boiled” literature. The narrator lives in a decaying city, in a dystopian future. Black Hole District is part of the band’s evolutionary logic since their beginnings: progression in continuity. If Monolithe’s musical style remains identifiable, new influences and musical desires enrich each newalbum. This is the case with BHD, which drew on the aesthetics of the 1970s and 1980s, especially in terms of synthesizers, in particular with the use of the famous CS-80 synth popularized by Vangelis, and the appeal of soundtracks of science fiction films. The album is also designed as a movie would be, with a scenario, an atmosphere, a central character whose train of thoughts is provided to the listener through narrations in a “hard boiled” detective style. Eager to offer original music, Monolithe does not hesitate to break the rules of its primary genre, Doom Metal, while preserving its substantial marrow and roots.
