“Thank you so much for carrying my books for me, Eddie Bear. You’re so sweet.” You say with an adoring smile that immediately makes him putty in your hands.

“Anything for you.” Eddie replies dreamily, a dopey smile on his face while his love-stricken eyes refuse to leave your face. He mindlessly unloads your books into the locker, missing the entrance by a long shot as the books fall to the floor. It doesn’t register to him it seems because he continues to put away imaginary books oblivious to the mess he’s made of your things.

You giggle, shaking your head at him a little bit. “You’re so silly.”

Just as you were about to crouch down to collect the books, Steve swoops in and picks them off the ground for you.

“Allow me, princess, we don’t want you lifting a finger. Especially me.” He shoots you a dazzling smile.

“Funny you say that considering I was the one carrying all the books. Not you.“ Eddie mutters.

“Oh, so carrying her backpack and her lunch means absolutely nothing? My girl needs her #2 pencils and a balanced meal and I was able to protect them.” Steve defends.

“You’re right. My girl does need those things,” Eddie emphasizes by dropping a heavy hand down onto Steve’s shoulder. “Thank you for your service. You’ve been honorably discharged, soldier.”

“I’ll go once I get a kiss from my princess,” Steve shrugs off Eddie, stepping towards you. He bats his puppy-dog hazel eyes and pouts. “May I get a kiss?”

“Of course, baby.” You consent, grinning. Then, you’re leaning in, pressing your soft lips against his own. Fireworks burst behind Steve’s eyelids and he feels like he’s about to takeoff like a rocket.

You pull away, doing your best to wipe the excess of your lipgloss from his lips. Steve licks it instead, savoring your taste.

“Mmm, cherry.” He says, eyes just as dazed and love-stricken as Eddie’s once were. But Eddie’s eyes could only carry anger after the display before him.

The boys had no issue sharing you. Hell, the day they both laid eyes on you they were adamant that neither would back off from pursuing you regardless of their close friendship. Two-in-one confessions later, an intense three-way make out session—among other things—and you three decide to make the arrangement official.

Everything has been great…up until Eddie and Steve became a little competitive when it came to receiving praise from you. They’re BIG on praise. “I’ll be counting down the seconds until we meet again, princess.” Steve says, taking your hand to place yet another kiss on your skin; his eyes never leaving yours.

“Pretty smooth, prince fucking charming.” Eddie thinks.

But he believes he can do one better. He may not be a gentleman but it’s not like you ever needed that from him anyway. Taking the same hand Steve kissed, Eddie places his lips over the same spot before tracing his lips up along your ring finger. He notices the slight shiver that courses through you, goosebumps rising along your soft skin. A chaste kiss is press along the soft pad of your fingertip, his tongue briefly tasting you.

“That should hold me until your return,” Eddie says, licking his lips before shooting Steve a shit-eating smirk. “Don’t be too long though or I’ll have to come in and get you myself.”

-Aeon and Aurora were imps that the band ghouls summoned themselves, hoping that one of them would become a ghoul eventually, but when they both turned into ghouls, they basically went, "Oooh~, two for one discount."

Both of them were on the surface for about a year before they managed to shapeshift for the first time, and it was purely because they wanted to cause trouble and needed hands for that.

-Imps and kits are not the same creatures, but a ghoul might refer to their kit as an "imp" to imply their mischievous disposition, and/or as a term of endearment.

-Imps exist alongside ghouls in a similar fashion to, say, a cat or dog, but have a level of sentience that allows for greater forms of communication.

Ghouls will sometimes use imps as scouts or to retrieve small prey in the pit during hunts.

-If an imp bonds with a ghoul, or is treated as a member of a pack, it may eventually develop into a ghoul, manifesting in a form equivalent to the age they would be had they been born a ghoul.

Thusly, imps who have reached adulthood will always manifest as adult ghouls.

This is to say, if Dew's imp, Dewdles, were to turn into a ghoul, he'd likely be an adult, but also...

-Imps tend to manifest themselves with a similar appearance to the ghoul they had the closest bond with.

However, this mimicry usually only extends to the ghoul's demonic form, and so they also have to glamour themselves in order to appear more human.

Most imps are incapable of glamouring themselves, and thus have to rely on their ghoul counterparts for this or wear specialized jewelry to help maintain their glamours.

And lastly;

-Aeon and Aurora's imp forms are more traditionally cat shaped, albeit they have some bat-like features slapped onto them, and Aeon especially had a very, "I will glide down upon you from high places" phase.

It was easy enough for the ghouls to hide them until they were manifesting properly as a result of this, because who's really going to question the weird looking cats lurking around the abbey?

I have yet to find this in fiction and am not sure if it exists in depictions (conceptkin?) but a fossa-like being with long spindly legs and a long body and impossibly fluid movement and powerful, built back legs. It could think as a human and feel reasoning and somewhat shifted it's form as it ran. It had a long thin tail with spikey fur at the end and it jumped like a rabbit and I am positive that it was me but I have no clue how to describe what it's called (I was shifting for one of my other kintypes and accidentally discovered another I guess??)

Idia: Dog

Dang it, he wanted a cat. 

Still, he recognizes dogs are cute.

Let’s call him Cerberus for now. I think it would be a dog breed like a Cretan Hound, Greek Harehound, Molossus of Epirus, all big dog breeds from Greece.

Cerberus is very loyal to Idia and loves to sit by his side when he is playing games.

Scary dog privileges heck yeah. Idia hopes it will keep the extroverted students away from him (spoiler: It doesn’t work)

When working at STYX Cerberus works as a guard dog, not really necessary but Idia likes the feeling.

Cerberus is one of the few reasons why he goes out and takes him on walks. Although Ortho is usually the one taking him out, for Idia’s safety, the last time Cerberus basically dragged him across campus.

Makes memes with his dog.

Unfortunately, Ortho is not able to have a familiar in the traditional way.

He loves Cerberus though!

Idia is/was planning on building a familiar for Ortho but the idea makes him sad.

Silver: Snow Owl

(Reference for chapter 7)

Yeah.

Honestly Silver was probably the youngest when it came to finding his familiar, with the number of animals close to him it was predictable.

He took a nap somewhere and woke up with the owl looking at him.

Lilia felt happy for Silver, although he felt like life was being a bit passive-aggressive with him.

If Silver is sleeping his familiar is somewhere watching over him.

Silver uses the owl to look for Malleus when the latter is nowhere to be found.

Special alarm, aka the familiar will peck Silver until he wakes up.

Sebek: Hawk

The perfect look for a knight, Sebek likes the respectable image they have going on.

LOUD DUO.

“WAKA-SAMA!” *hawk noises.*

Sebek is training it to attack people. Plus he trains with silver to use their familiar as trackers.

One time Sabek almost hits him with a lightning bolt and has been apologizing ever since.

The hawk once sat in one of Malleus’ horns which he found amusing, Sebek not so much.

Lilia: Bat

I know it was a really obvious choice but it was the best one for Lilia.

Same energy. Let me tell you that bat is old.

“Aren’t we cute?”

They both like to hang from the ceiling.

Silver’s babysitter was back when he was a kid. From making sure baby Silver was safe while Lilia was busy and/or adapting to parenthood, making sure he was safe in the woods as a kid, up to this day it makes sure Silver fell asleep somewhere safe.

Has saved the young one from Lilia’s cooking, the reason why sometimes Lilia finds kitchen ingredients or tools gone missing, is for a greater cause.

Will screech to get your attention.

Has had to drag Lilia by the ear to bed when he stays up too much time.

He and Lilia enjoy having tomato juice together.

Sometimes he joins Lilia in the music club, it doesn’t sound great but it is the passion that counts.

Malleus: Crow

A bit of an odd case because Malleus passed centuries without a familiar, they found each other rather recently.

He finds it rather interesting how it fits the story of the Witch of Thorns and her crow companion.

Malleus can and will tell you a lecture on what makes ravens and crows different creatures.

A good company, a bit of a one side conversation but the two look happy in the process.

Malleus’ grandmother has a crow familiar too, maybe it’s a Draconia thing.

His familiar also enjoys old builds and statues which Malleus finds endearing.

Sometimes the crow disappears and reappears at random times. Malleus will never admit it but he’s rather bitter at the idea of not being invited.

Loves shiny things and has a nest of things it has collected around the school.

No, the crow doesn’t sit on Mallues’ horns but sometimes you can find it on his shoulder.

That crow is in the top 5 of those who Sebek respects.

The most respected and feared bird in all of the school. Some students are sure there must be something fishy with that bird.

Me and a friend just got into it over that top10 Sonic females video, here is my take:

1. Blaze the Cat, not like other girls, my genderbent-Riverdale-Jughead beauty, I'm gonna go further than Shane Dawson ever would. Call me fucking Douglas Spink the way I'm gonna break the law 4 that pu$$y 💯😈💦

2. Rouge the Bat, phat titties n ass, experienced and whorepilled. Ride or die for Shadow and Omega, definitely let's the gang hit. Just such a solid option but overrated and too easy for me personally.

3. Sticks the Badger, she's my unhinged goblincore rabiosexual waifu, she definitely foams at the mouth and she definitely foams on the dick. I still fucking love Sonic Boom so I'm adding her. They should've changed Sonic's arm color back tho.

4. Wave the Swallow, Sonic Riders lit and I'm sick of pretending it's not. She don't got a mouth or hands but I know for a FACT that cloaca does tricks on it. Also she's smart af and prob knows how to make a pipebomb.

5. Tikkal, she a trad-pilled monarchist native-Latina, also she's a ghost so that's extra hot. She can touch me but I can't touch her, very mormon, I see why Guptill included her.

8. Cosmo, literally just Gardevior also an alien AND a plant, I want her to photosynthesize on this pussy and let me pollinate her. She may be Tail's age but she not from Earth, the age of consent doesn't apply here, also she's a plant. Don't remember Sonic X well but I remember she was bad.

9. Sally Acorn, bland and manipulative, honestly mostly because of Ken Penders writing female characters like that in the Sonic archie comics but there wasn't there much to begin with. Wouldn't smash cuz she'd prob get attached and stalk me (not in the hot way).

10. Julie-sue the Echidna, she is a fucking abomination and the culmination of Ken Penders entire fucking influence on the comics, I HATE HER I HATE HER I HATE HER. she's a child of incest canonically and fucking looks like it. I replaced Mina the Mongoose with Sticks on this list because normally I'd not count comic characters but Julie-sue is so awful I have to include her just to say how much I want to kill her. I will hunt her to the ends of the earth like a dog and I'll kill her like a pig.

Other people have probably said this sooner and better, but I’m actually not done thinking about Everything Everywhere All At Once because the googly eyes represent on such a physical level the movie’s theme of radical empathy; not just in serving as the visual inverse of the Nihilism Bagel, but in that their presence literally inverts the concept of nihilism.

Does anyone else remember that Lindsey Ellis video essay from years ago where she talked about how aliens in sci fi movies are designed, and that by and large if the audience is supposed to empathise with them as characters then they’ll have big eyes with visible irises and pupils? And if they’re supposed to be unknowable and dangerous then they may not have visible eyes at all? Think E.T versus the Xenomorph or the heptapods from Arrival. Artists will do that because the eyes are the most direct way humans have of looking at a thing and understanding what it is. The more visible and mammal-like the eyes, the more familiarity we have with it, therefore the greater our empathy for it. Think of the amount of love your average person on the street will have for a random dog versus a random fly or snake or bird. Not to say that we can’t have empathy for the latter, but eyes make it easier.

In the movie, the first thing we see of the googly eyes is stuck on one of the bags of clothes Waymond stored upstairs – just in passing, he says something like “I think they’re happier up there!” while Evelyn’s shouting at him. She rips the eyes off and tells him to stop, keeps rushing around and ignoring Joy (ignoring joy, lmao). But they keep trickling back into the movie at every turn, stuck to washing machines and baseball bats, filling the world with friendly faces. Waymond, in a world that treats people like objects, treats objects like people, and he manifests it by giving them eyes. At one point he’s stuck them on a lampshade or something, shares a glance with it when he notices Evelyn’s noticed him and runs off like they’re conspiring together. When Evelyn finally comes around to his point of view, she sticks them on herself as a rock – this outermost physical form where she and Joy have un-personed themselves to the greatest extent they can manage, just rocks in an empty universe of rocks – and uses them to drag them both back into personhood.

And it works so well as a metaphor because the fundamental antagonistic force in the story is the refusal to empathise – Evelyn’s dismissal of Joy’s life choices and the partner she’s chosen, Alpha Evelyn’s literal use of Joy as an experiment, Gong Gong’s unwillingness to be proud of his daughter, Evelyn’s own refusal to be proud of herself. In the tax audit Deirdre is listing all of Evelyn’s business expense claims with reference to what they would make her as a person – ‘You’re telling me you’re a singer, a chef, a teacher, a novelist, well that can’t be right because you’re just a laundromat owner.’ The system she represents only has space for Evelyn to be one thing, denies her her complexity and humanity, so Deirdre acting as the arm of that system inevitably has to do the same (this is how her universe has to work, because it’s the one where she has a modicum of power and doesn’t have to think about driving her car through her ex’s kitchen).

And so it creates a feedback loop – Deirdre can’t acknowledge Evelyn’s humanity so Evelyn can’t acknowledge Deirdre’s. She can barely manage to love this person when her life literally depends on it. It’s only through Waymond’s approach of convincing Deirdre to confront the fact that he and Evelyn are people, the fact of what it really means for her to be coming after their livelihood like this, that a new feedback loop can be created. Deirdre can now acknowledge Evelyn’s humanity and give her a fucking break. Evelyn can acknowledge Deirdre’s and glimpse universes where they choose each other, spend their lives together.

(The cookies Waymond gives to Deirdre that initially persuade her to allow them a second chance have smiley faces on them).

The movie’s ultimate message is pretty clear – fuck nihilism, maybe nothing matters but also everything matters because I’m here and you’re here and I love you. But it doesn’t stop there. Fuck nihilism, maybe nothing matters but also everything matters because I’m here and this lampshade is here and I love it. I love this washing machine, this baseball bat, this bag of laundry. If I was a rock I would love all the other rocks with everything in my little rock soul. It’s can’t end at loving ourselves and loving each other, we’ve got to love the universe. On like, a molecular level.

Batman: The Animated Series - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles

Rupert Thorne

A powerful and ruthless crime boss, Rupert Thorne muscled his way into the Gotham City and swiftly took control over a large section of the criminal underworld.  Edging out former kingpins, Arnold Stromwell and Salvatore Valestra, Thorne’s enterprises ranged from narcotics to racketeering, money laundering, gambling and weapons smuggling.  Although his criminal endeavors were well known to the public, the corruption within Gotham's justice system kept Thorne in his penthouse and the authorities off his back.

District Attorney Harvey Dent was determined to put an end to Thorne’s grip on the city.  Dent’s dogged pursuit of Thorne became even more relentless as he was campaigning for reelection as District Attorney.  Dent was getting close and Thorne became desperate to put a stop to it.  

Thorne attempted to blackmail Dent after his agent had pilfered the medical notes from Dent’s psychiatrist.  Dent was contending with rather severe psychological difficulties and Thorne threatened to expose this to the public unless Dent agreed to drop all investigations into his enterprises.  Dent refused and a scuffle broke out wherein Dent was caught in an explosion that terribly scared half of his face.  All this resulted in the creation of the villainous Two-Face.  And Two-Face would prove an even greater threat to Rupert Thorne than Dent had ever been.   

A new breed of criminal was encroaching on Thorne’s territory.  Villains like Two-Face, The Penguin and The Joker were substantially cutting into his profit margins and The Batman was a near constant threat to his whole organization.  Determined to wrestle back control, Thorne hired the mercenary known as Bane to break the Bat and ostensively reseat Thorne atop the criminal empire.  

The plot failed, Batman triumphed over Bane and Thorne’s hold on power became even more tenuous.  In desperate need of cash, Thorne agreed to pool resources with The Penguin and the mob enforcer Carlton Duquesne in a venture to sell high tech weapons to the war-torn nation of Kasnia.  

The operation was taken down by Batman along with the mysterious new heroine, Batwoman.  Duquesne was convinced to testify against Thorne and the once untouchable gangster was sentenced to life in prison at Stonegate Penitentiary.   

The wonderfully intimidating John Vernon provided the voice for Rupert Thorne, with mobster first appeared in the sixth episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, ‘It’s Never Too Late.’

"What... exactly do you have in mind?"

You look up at the backlit figure, hallway light framing their silhouette. Lean figure, shaved head, definitely shorter than you. Weilding a baseball bat casually in one hand, though you can tell they don't have as much experience actually using it. Still, they managed to land a good hit to the back of your head, evident from the dull ache underneath your thoughts.

It's the strangest thing when you meet their eyes. Like shining a light into a dog's eyes, their pupils seem to reflect some unseen light. Its creepy.

"Oh nothing much. If you're really from an alternate timeline like you said, then you're probably doing the same villain shit I'm working on right now." They're kneeling at your level now. You say nothing.

"You're going to help me wipe out the Rangers once and for all." The grin in their voice is palpable.

You stare at them for long enough that their smile starts to falter.

"... Okay? That's it?"

They blink.

"What?"

"You don't have a greater goal? Wiping out the Rangers isn't going to magically solve your problems."

"No it absolutely will, what are you impl--"

"No no because the issue lies in the government, okay? The system that allows the rangers to exist in the first place--"

"Oh don't you fucking interrupt me, you're the one who's literally at my mercy I could--"

"You could what, tough guy? Beat up an innocent captured woman? What would your neighbors think, because I sure as hell am not dying quietly--"

Your captor is standing now. They take a few paces away from where you're sitting, muttering something under their breath. You take the moment of distraction to quietly work your hands out of the zipties.

Dreamy eyes tracked the flights of bat-winged cherubs burning bright, sisters and brothers fulsomely fledged, their scales in wonderful midnight array. They couldn't be less like him; Rafal son of dragons, yet unable to fly.

Rafal named for wind, but unfit for wings.

Often the flightless one braced his fingers against the sky.

On clear days, it was filled with many siblings. He couldn't match them in their transformations, so instead he imitated their aeronautical exercises the best he could. He climbed to the peak of the highest rock just to jump down. As he bruised on the pits at the craggy base, he clung to the belief that one day such reckless falls would awaken flight. A fool's placebo reconciling him to the unattainable, but it wasn't longing he insisted, it was training.

Other times the method was different. When he bit into raw meat he thought that he’d wake up the next day, a little more changed, a little more dragonlike. The snake he found flattened on the road weighed so light between his hands. It went so heavy down his throat he retched it back up.

It wasn't longing he insisted, it was training.

Rafal insisted, wanted, blistered, sometimes cried. He exhausted his options, his little legs and weary mind, but there was no training he could do for the second thing he really, truly wanted. Maybe that thing he desired just that little bit more. Flightless and twinless, he watched those gamboling children in the clouds.

Many behaved as they were created to be; selfish, yearning, wanting, destined for more. Countless fledgling devils of Sombron and each a growing supernova that burned in the greater scheme of his galaxy, where many would die, and others would shine brighter, where that decision was decided by the violent expansions of others or the sanguinary excellence of oneself.

A sane and lawful beating because only power was law. The other godling wiped his blood off his cheek, never mind that it was shared. Especially because shared. Even afterward his eyes still glowed with calculation, like he were the master, the king, the one who decided every fate weaker than his own. He and all others - he and all siblings who brought Rafal one heartbeat closer to madness in the healthy circulation of their own minds, and the rightful stretch of their wings.

Not really, he said of minutes, stretching an hour from his limbs. The statue encased in stillness until anticipated thaw, the loyal dog not once derelict across winter storm or summer scorch, he sat under the same barren tree without counting the time, for only one reason. Because there was no place he would rather be than their spot of promise. Two to meet here.

Lamb who could never be devil, petal-soft hand entered his, a shy smile for him. Always did Rafal gaze at an angel.

For many years, for some centuries, it has been Nel and Nil. That it still was, if now also come to several more pairs; they and the Divine One, they and Zelestia, and now Nil and his fruits. Peaches for example were only grown in Lythos, and pink, peachlike Nil finds lush bounty in lieu of arid scarcity agreeable - finds a place here.

Half-bitten fruit nesting in one hold, he used the other to turn a page. Reading on that bench of a sunny patch, there was peace in paradise, even if he knew it wasn't for an imposter. Even if he balked to sleep alone without Nel, nightmares of not yet severed reality startling him awake with a whimper. Gradlon though out of sight did not fail to be totally gone. The serpent planted its whispers, coiled curse heavy over his heart.

Only like this did end seem as beginning. Kings and laws and civilizations lost their once tightly clutched meaning, as if everything were simply returned to the cosmic dust from which they had sprung millions of years ago. A fresh and bloodless slate by every last drop of blood corrupted.

Only like this did end seem as beginning; she-twin, he-twin, Nel and Rafal the corruption of some adam and some eve. He sinful, she faithful. They who shed the patterns of old bloodied testaments; they, new age twins born not by womb but reborn by choice.

Only like this, at both end and beginning, he awakened, understood to where and for why his cogs ought turn. Brother bled of his foolish curse by sister's veins, for another twin once more he sat, and once more he waited. Loyal beside her, not once derelict across winter storm or summer scorch, every day he looked after Nel. Every night he looked to the stars where Nil was watching in that true promised land.

Man we just had a TENSE battle in Kingmaker. The party went after the greater barghest Nargloom on Nok-Nok’s story mission. He knew they were coming because two goblins escaped after their initial attack on Oleg’s, and then the redcaps spying through peep holes in the dungeon were able to inform him when the party arrived.

The party used some of their resources when they were ambushed by 4 goblin-bat dogs in the entryway of the dungeon, and a portcullis closed off their exit, so they decided to take a 10 minute rest in the dungeon for their bard to get back his focus points.

In those 10 minutes, Nargloom enlarged himself and then went invisible, and the bugbear that had been spying on them through another peep hole had time to get back to Nargloom’s side to help in the upcoming fight.

Thus an already severe level encounter was pushed up into being extremely dangerous.

It doesn’t help that my dice were absolute monsters tonight. Nargloom rolled more nat 20s than I usually roll in an entire campaign it felt like. I even switched dice after two attacks in a row crit, and immediately rolled another 20.

But it all turned out ok despite some close calls. Nok-Nok got the killing blow, and was disappointed when this act did not ascend him to be a goblin hero-god. But Ozzy and Irena *both* rolled a nat 20 on their diplomacy to try to cheer him up. It was so successful in convincing him that just being a hero with his friends is enough that he might be rethinking some things, and his alignment is moving from CE to CN.

How the Kwamis work in my AUs

As per an ask, I want to go over how I've reworked the kwamis in my AUs. In general, they primarily function the same, but I'll get into those deviations here as well. Now, let's begin:

General:

The kwamis received a massive overhaul. No longer are they creatures to be contained and kept in check. They are divine entities that have their own autonomy and freedom. Their concepts have been reworked to feel more like actual abstract concepts rather than their powers, like Illusion or Teleportation. The kwamis, once their jewels are activated, are bound to the person and cannot be removed by anyone aside from the holder. Furthermore, there are 27 main kwamis that I use that come with a pair. The paired kwamis function as opposites, yin and yang. Paired kwamis can cancel out the others powers, working as a balance. When paired holders come in contact, they will neutralize the use of each other's powers. I.e. if the freedom holds connection, freedom cannot teleport and connections can't communicate telepathically. The opposites are also immune to the effects of the other. I.e. sorrow uses their sadness aura, joy is unaffected. The exception to this ruleset is the five remaining kwamis of this set of 27. These five have no counter and can swing either way depending on the hearts of mortals. I.e. Health being able to either cure or inflict diseases depending on a person's heart and agenda.

Lastly, each pair possesses a Miracle power that must be used with the other half willingly. I.e Creation can create anything permanent, only after Destruction has destroyed something of equal value to be created. Or Connection can broadcast a message that transcends language and distance with the assistance of Freedom.

Now, the powers work differently based on the AU. So, let's dive into that:

Miraculous AU:

The first AU I started and is still ongoing. This is full of experimental ideas that not all carried over to the other AUs. I will explain them and give a brief why they didn't carry over:

The holders would get stronger the more they used their powers and the stronger the bond was with their kwami. It works for this AU, as there is an essence of time to allow this. In the others, the stakes are higher, so the systems work differently. It is also integral to the story as the bonds with the kwamis have plot relevance, especially with Papillon and later Lord Bug.

The kwamis fall into one of three categories based of their concepts: Defensive, Combative, Hybrid. I honestly don't know what I was thinking or why it seemed like it was a good idea at the time, but it is extremely flawed. Essentially, kwamis would offer special protections or skills the closer they were with their holders. I.e. the ladybug holder couldn't be hurt, but wasn't good at fighting while the black cat holder excelled in combat, but was a glass cannon. It is a messy system and didn't carry over.

Greater and lesser powers. So, the powers in this AU were to gauge what would work, carry over, and figure out what was OP. While powers have changed, the system did too later on. In this AU, you have holders with three sets of powers. Lesser powers they can use more freely while greater powers were limited to one use per transformation until they were stronger. The third power was their miracle power, the Miraculous. The Miraculous stayed the same, but the system of lesser and greater powers changed.

Salvation - Game of Gods and Men:

Here's where the deviations and changes begin. Salvation introduces the concept of Holders and Avatars with different rules for each.

Holders are what you get in the show. Has to transform to use powers, active their powers through a phrase, and overall limited. They have one power to use as many times as they want, but typically a lesser power.

Avatars are demigods. They are the mortals that consumed (yes, I said consumed) the essence of the kwami, i.e. the kwami itself. Providing they survive the ordeal, they are forever changed. Their bodies are essentially dead save for their still beating heart. They don't need food, sleep, breath, and are sterilized. They cannot fall ill to mundane diseases nor killed by worldly means. The only way to kill an Avatar is by another Avatar's powers or weapons (unless you are the turtle). With all the powers that they gain, they gain access to an unleashed form that is their true form. A mix of human and kwami, their Avatar forms, but only once they've mantled their concepts and stay true to their concepts.

Avatars gain three additional powers, giving them four. While there is no technical limit, there is. Each Avatar has a pool of power they can draw from. If they tap it out before resting or eating, then they will draw on their own life force. Should an Avatar do this, it will shorten their lifespan until they die. Furthermore, an Avatar that truly embodies their consumed concept can achieve their Avatar form. While in this form, they gain two more powers, but only while in this form.

So, yeah, this one. No activation phrases needed for powers, strong variations of the powers that make them like gods, and seemingly unlimited use. However, should the holders sustain enough damage or has used all the power reserves of the kwami, they'll de-transform and pass out from the strain.

Furthermore! There is a concept within this AU known as Soulbound. This is soulmates for kwamis. Kwamis can become soulbound with mortal souls they have been with in different incarnations of that mortal's life. This level of a bond between kwami and mortal allows for both to feel, experience, and think as one. And, yes, Marinette and Longg are soulbound. And if you think it's a massive advantage, you are right, but also oh so wrong.

I will at the very least explain how things work here, but that's all you'll get for now. In essence, there are no Miraculous jewels. Rather, the kwamis blessed mortals with powers, effectively turning those mortals into demigods. These blessings would have been passed through the generations to the modern day. With the weakening blessings and connections to the kwamis, there are three classifications to the demigods:

Highborn

Lowborns have the weakest of connections usually having a single power. Midborn have stronger connections and possess some animal characteristics of their families kwami and posses 2-3 powers. Meanwhile Highborns have the closest connection, possessing the most animal and kwami traits among having the most powers at 4-5. Amongst the Highborns there are the Elites that can transform into man beasts, which is Juleka's Naga form.

Of Virtue and Sin

The kwamis come in vials of tattoo ink (well, the essence of their powers, making them more like blessings/curses). The "holder" has the ink tattooed into the skin and the process, like Salvation's Avatars, can kill because of the sheer pain of having the living essence of a literal god tattooed onto mortal flesh. Those that survival can only be killed by overexertion of powers or by another "holder".

The "holders" get two powers they can use freely, and an ultimate power. This ultimate power can only be used when they "transform" a la venom style. This form and the power with it are extremely taxing on the holder. They can only maintain the form for so long, but are unstoppable in it. Once they use their ultimate, they immediately de-transform.
