What If Season 3 - What If... the Red Guardian Stopped the Winter Soldier? Thoughts
"Now, think. Think back. What's the first thing you see?" Alexei Shostakov
"I see... I see... I see Coney Island." The Winter Soldier
"See! You are somebody. You are the Great Coney Island hero. And the Red Guardian is proud to fight next to you." Alexei Shostakov
Episode 3 was so peak. Alexei is so fun! I really wish we got a movie, a show, or something with him because he's such a fun character. His dynamic with Bucky is also pretty fun. We got so much lore about the assassination of Howard and Maria Stark. This is the last episode written by A.C. Bradley, and man I'm going to miss her writing and work in What If. Also, this episode was supposed to be in S2 (footage of it can be seen in S2's title sequences and the S2 finale fanfare) but was swapped out for the Corpsman Nebula episode which was supposed to be in S3.
Alexei's character in this episode is really great. He may be really enthusiastic about his belief in Communism and the Soviet Union, but it's clear he genuinely wants to do good. I really like how he isn't as dumb as he looks and how he sees the good and best in people. Someone also pointed out how since this is 1991, the USSR is on the verge of collapse, and Alexei thinks they will overthrow the US which shows how he was kept in the dark by his bosses about the USSR's deteriorating situation. Even Alexei realizes after he knows Dreykov and the Red Room are working with Capitalists that those at the top never truly cared about the ideals of the USSR as he did. I also find it funny that the What If situation possibly came that, What If Alexei stole the file of the Winter Soldier's assignment lmao. David Harbour was amazing casting for Alexei in the Black Widow movie and this episode continues to prove why it was perfect casting.
I really love how Dreykov and the Red Room knew about and was connected to HYDRA and the Winter Soldier. It makes me wonder if the Red Room's Sky Fortress was a HYDRA collaboration and the Red Room simply cut their ties with HYDRA after the Winter Soldier movie. While this doesn't fix my feelings about the Red Room's Sky Fortress, someone pointed out how HYDRA most likely covered up the Sky Fortress from SHIELD. This makes so much more sense than if the Sky Fortress was simply able to hide for so long because it was simply good at "hiding" lmao. I also liked how it pays off a fact from S2 Episode 2, Bucky as the Winter Soldier was used by the USSR. That's some great multiversal continuity there haha. I love the Red Room presence in this episode with Dreykov and the Red Room Task Force soldiers. Also, Antonia Dreykov being in the picture is pretty sad and dark given what happened to her and how Dreykov never truly cared about his own daughter.
I love to see Bill Foster in this episode and I love his suit from S2 Episode 2. It's just really nice to see Bill Foster as the hero Goliath since we never saw him in action before in the movies. Ranger Morales was also a fun new side-character for this episode.
The montage of Alexei and Bucky heading to the United States was perfect and funny with the major differences in their purpose and tone. When that Winter Soldier theme kicks in, I got the chills. I like that Alexei does have his morals, even if he says it's to spread Communism and the revolution, it shows how he doesn't tolerate the work HYDRA is doing. It's really funny seeing Alexei quip during his fight with Bucky that Bucky just resorts to biting him.
I laughed when Bucky and Alexei both agreed to go off the cliff, even Uatu was surprised. These two super soldier idiots really make for a funny team once Bucky loosens up a bit. The Russian music in this episode is both epic and funny given how it's used. I also love the comedic gag of Alexei trying his best to get Bucky to stop resorting to killing as the first solution to every problem.
Bucky legit has a mental crisis when he realizes he failed for the first time. I love the arc where Bucky even if for this mission broke out of the programming and realizes HYDRA never cared for them. The scene with him remembering Coney Island is so heartwarming given how he and Steve hung out at Coney Island. Likewise seeing him reject Dreykovâs kill order on Alexei was heartwarming to see. I also love how he listened to Alexei's advice of using his metal arm to block the bullets when Stane tried to kill them. Their friendship (theyâre basically siblings in this episode) truly is one of the most heartwarming things to see how Alexei managed to bring the good out of the Winter Soldier and both of them considering themselves friends. Sebastian Stan's voice performance went a long way from him phoning it in back in Episode 1.
"He's right, though. About the Red Room, Dreykov..." Alexei Shostakov
"Dreykov's a pig. All of them are. But not you. You are a good man." The Winter Soldier/Coney Island Hero
The Rook being Obadiah Stane was a surprise to me. It didn't register that was him until near his death and the end credits confirmed my suspicions. I was really surprised but yet also not surprised that Obadiah told the Russians (and therefore by extension HYDRA) about Howard's recreation of the super soldier serum. God, seeing Obadiah talk about how "amazing" Capitalism makes me sick, and glad to see him fall out of the window after Bucky threw Alexei's shield at him. Hopefully, with Howard and Maria Stark alive along with Stane's death, Tony's life will be a lot less messed up and less daddy issues.
I really hope Vasily Karpov dies in Las Vegas that's one less HYDRA personal in this universe. Also, I hope when Bucky was being brainwashed that this time, it was less successful than the previous moments, thanks to Alexei's influence. Plus, thanks to Alexei disavowing the Red Room and his nation, the Siberian Winter Soldiers will never occur!
Also hell yes, Alexei gets to be a part of the Avengers and Captain America knows him!
Episode 3 is truly a peak episode and showcases a dynamic ripe with story and character exploration. It'll be very interesting to see how Thunderbolts will show the two interact. This episode uses its characters amazingly well.
Note: Someone pointed out that so far, each episode has a tiny person interact with someone or something much taller (Sam with Gamma Apex Bruce, Kingo with Celestial Agatha, and now Alexei and Bucky with Goliath). I wonder what Episode 4 will do to continue this streak haha.
"Fighting for survival. For acceptance. Fighting to be somebody. But in the end, the fight is never the point. It's your friendships that change the course of history. Even when they end." Uatu

Girl like. The reason he said "this is how it should be" and faced death with a smile....is cuz he wanted to die. For 2 years he sat there thinking he was worthless and deserved to die. If he hadnât be shot, his death wouldâve been suicide, he was fully planning to die in a gutter somewhere undetected. When saying "this is how it should be" hes literally saying "donât cry because Iâm dying, my death is a good thing actually because I fucking suck and you are better off without me". I donât think thatâs badass even slightly, itâs actually really sad and really shitty. Shinjiro is so convinced that he deserves to die and hates the idea of anyone giving a shit about him because he literally canât wrap his mind around the idea that he will be missed when heâs gone, that his death is a bad thing actually. And his last words were meant to be comforting because he fully did not intend for anyone to be there when he died, he intended to die alone, so he says them as a reminder that heâs not worth crying over
Personally, if it were me, if I was holding my dying best friend in my arms who was deeply depressed and suicidal and he said "this is how it should be" uh. I wouldnât admire him for it??? Like am I losing my mind when I say the way this game handles Shinji is bad or is anyone else seeing this too đ°
#its like okay listen i understand the basic math of any persona game they say things and everything they say is actually#very bad when you think about it for more than 3 seconds#like what theyre intending to do with the death of this character is be like oh no your sad friend dies tragically thats so saddddd#but that doesnt mean you cant live a wonderful life full of meaning you cant let grief consume you life is beautiful awagga#and i guess shinji is a specific character whos used cuz i guess its more tragic that he never realized he was worthy of life and shit#and i guess its also like âdont be like this guy who let grief consume him and then died you gotta Be Differentâ#which i dont. love. that last part cuz if you think about shinji and what led him down this road#its like. of course hes depressed! he accidentally killed a woman with a child when he was 16!#he himself is an orphan and he just made some other kid an orphan as well and it happened cuz his persona went out of control#which very much can translate to âthis must mean im dangerous and can hurt everyone if im not kept under controlâ#so of course he isolated himself and believed he was evil and became suicidal like who wouldnt feel that way#like am i supposed to be mad he left sees and took drugs cuz uh while i dont think isolation or Evil Drug is good for his mental health#i dont think him continuing to fight in sees is something he can just easily do again given how he killed someone like he shouldnt have to#be a part of this thing anymore like how would he even safely get castor to not do that??? he cant kill more people on accident!#so yeah like using shinji as an example of bad coping mechanisms is already just. a big fucking oof to me like it just feels like the game#is saying he shouldve gotten over it and simply not be suicidal and stayed on the team. idk if thats the intent but uh it wouldnt faze me#cuz persona games are notoriously awful at writing characters who are traumatized and abused#but what makes everything even worse is how the game kinda like. acts like shinjis death is a stepping stone#like weâre supposed to use it as a wake up call and understand the stakes but keep going on anyways#and akihiko and Ken get. âgreat character developmentâ according to the game telling you they have now developed#but damn all akihiko is is just repressed he cries for 3 seconds and then is like I SHOULD MAN UP and then neglects a depressed child#shinjis dying words are words to live by now even though they piss me the fuck off like girl am i crazy HES FUCKING#HES TELLING ME NOT TO CRY OVER HIM BECAUSE HE SHOULD BE DEAD ACTUALLY AND THIS IS A GOOD THING ACTUALLY#like if the game wants us to still find meaning in life despite losing someone it just really hurts that shinji has to die for that to work#apparently. cuz the character i see myself in is shinji. not some perfect prettyboy who does everything perfectly and has 4 gfs#his death seems like a punishment for bad behavior. the bad behavior being of course depression and drug use. and im simply supposed to be#better than that if i want to live. and we dont get to form a connection with him cuz thats gayyyyy#and his death is like a NOBLE HEROIC SACRIFICE idk its just such bullshit to me i hate it so bad#how is killing a suicidal guy and then treating it as admirable that he said âthis is how it should beâ supposed to make me feel#makes me feel sick personally and it ruins the entire gameâs theme to me because its fucking shallow and the story is bad and im tired

really there are several people he is pinning his guilt on but he is blaming Miles the most
#as if it's some kids fault that he was selfish in a way no one else was ever selfish before#âI inserted myself in someone else's life and the world blew up and now it's everyone's faultâ#what an asshat#great writing; I want to kill that man and also I want to see him be worse

So this NOT to imply the writing is bad
But so far the Batfam fic as me genuinely shaking in anger , the fact that dick is convinced that y/n as to prove herself to be "worthy" genuinely got to me to the point I need a pallete cleanser
Could we please get a small drabble of reader growing close with one of the "outside" batfam members?
Like maybe Kate(batwoman) and Luke (batwing) because they are under used
Or hell, maybe to really grind the family gears, reader gets close to azrael
(you know Bruce would've able to do shit if reader got close with Kate, she would fucking eat him alive)
Hey, You're all good bro! I also just want to put out that my fic is based on an au! The portrayals of any characters in my fic are based off of their canon and fanon counterparts, just with my own twist. Since this is a darker universe/au, the Bats along with other heroes are going to be a lot more brutal and jaded.
Also love your idea bro. But, I'll do you one better. Constantine. Bruce absolutely can't stand him and the reader being friends with/getting along with him? Oh, that's bound to grind Bruce's gears. It would also be easier to meet Constantine too.
Let's just say one day the reader gets caught up in some Justice League Dark stuff that Constantine is trying to solve. She gets kidnapped by a cult that wants to use her as a sacrifice. I mean, she is a pretty huge target, being the daughter of a Billionaire after all. Anyways, shes kidnapped, nobody is coming to get her, not from her family at least. Long story short, Constantine arrives too late to stop the ritual, but things don't go according to plan for the cultists anyway. Turns out that the person sacrificed wouldn't be killed, but would instead become a vessel.
Great, now you have some old, eldrich being living rent-free in your mind. The being is old, donning the title "Keeper of Hell", but you'll just call it (they? him? her?), Adam. Yeah, Adam wasn't too happy with the name. When Constantine arrives, however, hes pleasantly surprised to find you alive. When he realizes that you, a 15-year-old, now carry the presence and power of an eldritch being older than Gotham itself, he groans while lighting up a cigarette. Looks like he'd have to deal with you now.
He checks over you making sure you have no internal and external injuries before explaining your situation. He feels a little sorry for you, but he is in no condition to train you. He asks around to other JL dark members, hoping to see if anyone is willing to help you control your new powers. He sighs again when nobody steps up to the plate, too busy with their own sidekicks and quests.
Reluctantly, he tells you he'd help you figure stuff out. And there begins the blossoming of the amazing "Grumpy old man and kid they didn't ask for" troupe. When you tell Constantine your name, he blanks, because of course he gets stuck with one of the bat's kids. However, based on your tone of voice when discussing your family (and the way you begged him not to let Bruce/Batman know of your predicament), he's guessing things aren't all too great between you all. Well, thats not his problem, his only job was to train you and make sure you don't end up accidentally killing someone.
Yeah...like that thought process is going to last. Training sessions start out bleak and professional, he's only doing a job. Then as time continues, he finds himself enjoying your company, your enthusiasm to learn and your rambunctious/sarcastic comebacks always have him fighting off a smile. It's been a while since he's had company like this. Soon, you're both going out on missions, and then ice cream breaks afterward. He lets you fall asleep on his shoulder, drooling all over his trench coat after particularly difficult missions and he can't bring himself to mind.
He's fond of you, although he never admits it out loud. It's okay though, because even though he's never said it out loud, his actions speak louder than words. You could feel his love and pride for you. Although he wasn't exactly your dad per se, he was still something to you, maybe the wine uncle? You don't know, and you don't particularly care to put a label on what Constantine was to you, you're just glad that he's there.
Shit hits the fan, however, when one day you decide to go on a solo mission. It's nothing crazy, just getting rid of some poltergeists and low-level demons and shades. Now, were you given permission to go on this mission alone? No, but in a normal teenage manner, you decide to go anyway. Everything was fine, you got rid of all the poltergeists in the area and even some of the shades too! It's all going well until you realize that the demon mentioned before was not as weak as you were told. You gulped when its blood red eyes turned to you.
"Well shit." Constantine was going to kill you.
It immediately lunges at you, you barely rolling out of its sharp claws. You hit it with a couple of spells, causing the demon to roar out in pain, burn marks now littering its side. Its tail whips at you, colliding with your stomach as you fly into a wall with a loud thud. You groan as you pick yourself up, clutching your ribs, each breath a jagged pain that ripples through your chest. Your arm is slick with blood, the gashes from the demon's claws burning as if its very essence were trying to sear your flesh. You grit your teeth and weave another spell, calling on Adamâs power to knock the demon back. This time, a burst of raw energy slams into it, shattering its leg with a sickening crack.
For a brief moment, you think it's over, ready to strike the final blow. But the demonâs leg snaps back into place, bone and flesh knitting together as if the injury had never happened.
âOf course,â you mutter under your breath. âWhy would this be easy?â
The demon lunges again, and youâre just a split second too slow. Burning pain flares through your right arm as its claws tear into you, ripping through your flesh like paper. You scream, the sound involuntary, but you push through the pain, refusing to go down without a fight.
Drawing back, you unleash another spell, a sharp projectile of energy aimed at its neck. The demon flinches, letting out a low growl. That reactionâpanicâgives you the first glimmer of hope. Its neck. That's its weak spot.
With renewed determination, you gather every ounce of strength you have left. The cuts across your body throb, and your arm feels like itâs on fire, but you push it all aside. You can do this. You have to do this.
You unleash a volley of cutting spells, each one aimed at the demonâs throat. It fights back viciously, throwing you around the room with a strength that makes your vision blur. Every hit you take feels like your bones are splintering, but you keep going. You keep attacking.
Finally, one of your spells strikes true.
The demon lets out a gurgling screech as your spell cuts deep into its neck. Bloodâthick and darkâpours from the wound, and it claws at its own throat, choking. Its body spasms violently, and then, as if collapsing in on itself, it begins to disintegrate. In a few seconds, all thatâs left is dust.
You stand there, panting, barely able to process the fact that you did it. You won. A grin spreads across your face, and despite the pain radiating from every part of your body, you let out a weak cheer.
But the celebration is short-lived.
Pain cuts through you like a knife, sharp and sudden, reminding you of just how battered you are. Blood is still oozing from the various gashes across your body, and your arm feels like itâs hanging by a thread. You stumble, nearly falling, but catch yourself at the last second.
âCrap⊠Iâm bleeding out,â you mumble, wincing. âWhoops.â
With what little energy you have left, you remember the spell Constantine taught you, the one that would tether you to him no matter where you were. He warned you not to use it unless it was an emergencyâand bleeding out from demon-inflicted wounds definitely qualifies.
You lift your shaking hand and cast the spell, a sluggish flick of your wrist sending out a ripple of energy. A portal forms, shimmering and unstable, but functional enough. Without much grace, you stumble through it, disappearing from the demonâs lair.
What you didnât know, however, was that Constantine was currently in a Justice League meeting.
The first thing you feel is a sudden drop, like the ground beneath you has vanished. You barely register the sensation of falling before you crash, hard, onto something solid. Groaning, you blink through the haze of pain and find yourself sprawled across a massive table.
You can hear voicesâmuffled, alarmedâbut the world is spinning too much for you to focus. All you know is that you're lying on something cold and hard, and youâre absolutely drenched in blood.
Forcing your eyes open, you see several figures standing around you, staring in shock. Your vision is blurry, but you can make out Supermanâs cape and Wonder Womanâs armor. You try to process what's happening, but the pain in your arm and ribs keeps pulling you under.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow. Fuckkkk." You cry out.
Suddenly, the scent of smoke fills the air. You don't even have to look to know who it is. Constantineâs familiar trench coat brushes against your arm as he crouches beside you, cigarette dangling loosely from his lips. His eyes flicker with a dangerous mix of exasperation and barely concealed anger.
âWhat in the bloody fuck, kid?â he snaps, his tone harsher than usual, but the concern underlies his words.
You wince, the situation hitting you all at once. Crap. Now I've got to deal with this.
You muster a weak, sheepish grin, wincing as you turn your head to face him. âHeyyy Constantine, how are ya?â
His brow furrows deeper, and heâs clearly not amused. âWhat did you do?â
You swallow hard, trying to think of how to explain yourself without getting ripped to shredsâverbally or otherwise. âIâwell, promise you wonât get mad?â
âToo late for that, kid. Iâm already halfway there,â he growls, his eyes narrowing as he looks over your wounds. âNow get to it.â
You bite your lip, trying to find the least disastrous way to explain. âSo⊠I sorta⊠mighta⊠gone on a solo demon-hunting mission,â you blurt out quickly, hoping heâd just move past it.
The way Constantineâs eyes widen, and the immediate twitch in his jaw tell you that heâs definitely not going to move past it.
âYou did what?!â His voice rises as he stands up, rubbing a hand over his face. âOh bloodyâ I thought I specifically told you not to go by yourself! And this is what happens!â
âHey, well, Iâm alive, arenât I?â you say, grinning nervously, trying to play it off.
âThatâs besides the point!â He throws his arms up, pacing as he takes a long drag from his cigarette. âBloody hell, I shouldâve known better with you kids. I swear, this is why I neverââ
Just then, a dark, grim voice cuts through the chaos, and your heart nearly stops.
âConstantine,â Batmanâs tone is low, authoritative. âWhy is my daughter bleeding on our table?â
Oh no. No, no, no. Not now.
You freeze, your mind going blank as you feel the weight of Batmanâs presence at the end of the table. You slowly, painfully turn your head to see him standing there, cape draped over his shoulders, his gaze icy and locked onto you. His usual stoic expression somehow looks even more intense.
âAh⊠shit,â you mutter under your breath, groaning inwardly as you realize youâve just landed yourself in the absolute worst situation imaginable. âI completely forgot he was still here.â Wait, did you say that out loud?
Constantine gives you a sidelong glance, raising an eyebrow. âYes, kid, you did. And now weâve got more than just your wounds to worry about, donât we?â He sighs deeply, rubbing his temples, already anticipating the fallout.
Batmanâs eyes narrow, arms crossed as he takes a step closer to you, his voice low and dangerous. âCare to explain yourself?â
Youâre still bleeding, your head is pounding, and youâre pretty sure at least a few bones are broken, but none of that compares to the fear creeping up your spine as you look up at your father. Your mind races for an answer, but every excuse you can think of feels flimsy at best.
Constantine clears his throat, sensing the rising tension in the room. âRight. Letâs get her fixed up before this turns into an interrogation, yeah? Kidâs bleeding all over the place, and sheâs already taken a beating. Weâll save the lecture for later.â He waves his hand, muttering something under his breath as he kneels beside you again.
The tension between Constantine and Batman lingers in the air, thick and heavy, but Batman finally relents. His eyes softenâslightlyâas he watches Constantine work to stabilize your injuries with magic.
You can feel yourself growing weaker, the adrenaline finally wearing off as the pain becomes unbearable. Constantine mutters a healing spell, one that slows the bleeding and knits some of the less serious cuts together. It's not perfect, but itâs enough for now.
âI think itâs time to get you all fixed up, huh?â Constantine says softly, his earlier anger tempered by concern as he helps you sit up, his hand firm on your back to support you.
You nod weakly, not daring to meet Batmanâs eyes again. Youâre in deep trouble, but for now, at least, youâre still breathing. As Constantine gets ready to teleport you to a safer place to heal, you hear Batmanâs voice, calm but steely.
âWeâre not done here.â
And with that ominous promise hanging in the air, Constantine picks you up, and the world around you shifts once again.
Constantine gently carries you through the halls toward the Justice Leagueâs med bay, muttering curses under his breath with every step. You could feel his frustration radiating off him, and now, in the quiet aftermath of the fight, guilt begins to settle in your chest. The adrenaline from the battle has worn off, and now you're left with the consequences of your reckless actions.
âHey, Constantine⊠IâIâm sorry for not listening to you. I really am,â you say, your voice soft and heavy with regret.
He sighs, not looking at you, but his tone is stern. âIâm not going to lie and say Iâm not mad at you, kid. You didnât just ignore my warningsâyou put yourself in danger. There are rules for a reason. What if you got seriously hurt and couldnât cast a spell back to me? Even worse, what if you died or got possessed?â
His words hit you hard, and you wither under the weight of them. You know heâs right. All those rules and restrictions arenât just him being overprotective or controlling, theyâre because he cares. Heâs seen the kind of darkness that can swallow people whole, and the thought of that happening to you terrifies him, even if heâll never say it out loud.
By the time you reach the med bay, the guilt feels like itâs pressing down on you as much as the pain in your ribs. Constantine lowers you onto a cot, tucking you in with a gruff gentleness that only he could pull off. He sits down on the side of the bed, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it with a quick flick of his fingers, his eyes never leaving yours.
âWhat Iâm trying to say, kid,â he starts, exhaling a cloud of smoke, âis that I care. I care about you, I care about what happens to you. I donât wantââ He pauses, his voice softening. âI donât want to ever have to find your body one day. So please, from now on, let me know before you do something stupid like this.â
His words hang in the air, raw and unfiltered. You nod, trying to process it all, and then something clicks in your mind. Wait⊠did he just say let him know?
âLet you know? Does this meanââ Your eyes widen as realization hits you. âDoes this mean I can go on solo missions?â
Constantine lets out a resigned sigh. âYes, yes, you can start going on solo missionsââ
âHell yeah!â you exclaim, sitting up a little too quickly. Pain shoots through your ribs, but you canât help the excitement bubbling inside you.
ââbut, only the ones I sanction and authorize,â Constantine finishes, cutting through your excitement with a stern look. You deflate a little at his words, but itâs still a victory in your book.
Without thinking, you throw your arms around him, ignoring the sharp pain it causes in your ribs. âOh, thank you, thank you, thank you! I promise I wonât let you down!â
He chuckles, patting your back awkwardly before pulling away. âYeah, yeah, I know you wonât. Now, lay back down and get some rest. You still have dark and brooding to deal with.â He gestures toward the direction of the meeting room, clearly dreading the inevitable confrontation with Batman. âAnd by extension, I do too,â he adds with a heavy sigh.
You groan, sinking back into the cot, the exhaustion finally catching up with you. âI donât know why he even cares. If he did, he wouldâve figured this out ages ago.â
Constantine glances at you, his expression softening for a moment. He takes a long drag of his cigarette before speaking. âHe cares, kid. He just⊠doesnât always show it the way you want him to. Doesnât mean he doesnât feel it.â
You scoff, though part of you knows heâs right. âYeah, well, doesnât feel like it.â
Constantine stands, taking one last drag of his cigarette before flicking it into a nearby ashtray. âDoesnât matter how it feels right now. The Batâs going to want answers, and if I know him, heâs going to want to have a very long talk with you. Youâre not out of the woods yet.â
You wince at the thought of the upcoming conversation, knowing that Batmanâs interrogation will be thorough and far less forgiving than Constantineâs.
âGreat,â you mutter, closing your eyes and sinking deeper into the cot. âJust what I need.â
Constantine gives you a small, almost affectionate smile before turning to leave. âGet some rest, kid. Youâve earned it. Iâll deal with the big bad Bat for now.â
And with that, he walks out, leaving you alone in the med bay. As much as youâre dreading whatâs to come, you canât help but feel a sense of relief. Despite the pain and the mistakes you made, you know that Constantineâs got your back. And, maybe, just maybe, Batman does too, even if itâs buried under a mountain of brooding and silence.
For now, though, you let the exhaustion pull you under, trusting that everything else can wait until tomorrow.
-
As you rest, your body finally succumbing to the exhaustion, your breathing evens out and your mind drifts into sleep. The med bay is quiet, sterile, but the tension in the air lingers, waiting for the inevitable. Eventually, a dark, caped figure glides into the room silently, his form casting long shadows across the walls.
Batmanâno, Bruceâstands over you, his sharp eyes tracing every bruise, every cut that mars your face. His jaw clenches as a million thoughts swirl in his head, none of them offering any comfort.
What the hell happened to you? Why are you and Constantine so close? How did you even know Constantine? How much had he missedâhow little attention had he been payingâto not notice any of this?
Bruce sighs, a deep and frustrated sound. He removes his cowl, setting it on the side table with a weary hand. Without it, he seems less intimidating, less imposing. He stares down at you, seeing the cuts and bruises marking your skin, but what hits him harder is the way your face, in sleep, is still so achingly young. You're his daughter, and yet it feels like you're a stranger to him now.
How did you get so far away?
He knows the answer. The fault lies with him, with the choices he made, the excuses he repeated to himselfâtelling himself he was too busy, telling himself he would check in later. Later never came, though, and the space between you widened, until it wasn't just him you were drifting away from, but your brothers too.
Bruce noticed the way your brothers treated you, the harsh words, the cold shoulders. He saw the distance, but he justified it, telling himself it was sibling rivalry or something that would pass. He didn't step in. And now, as he looks at you lying there, bruised and battered from a fight he wasnât even aware of, the reality sinks in: he has no excuse.
With a heavy sigh, Bruce reaches out, his rough but careful hand carding gently through your hair. The gesture is tender, hesitant, as if he's not sure whether he has the right to touch you like this anymore. But as his fingers comb through your hair, you stir in your sleep, a quiet murmur escaping your lips as you unconsciously lean into his touch. It's such a sweet, innocent moment, and for a brief second, Bruce allows himself to feel the warmth of it.
But the moment is fleeting.
He feels the presence before he sees it, the unmistakable smell of cigarette smoke filling the room. His jaw tightens as his hand stills. He doesnât turn right away, but his voice cuts through the silence.
âConstantine,â Bruce says, his tone gruff even without the cowl to disguise it.
Constantine steps into the room more fully, leaning against the wall, a half-smoked cigarette between his lips. He regards Bruce with that same nonchalance he carries everywhere, though there's a flicker of something else in his eyesâsomething more cautious.
"Thought youâd still be brooding over in the corner," Constantine says, taking a drag of his cigarette. His eyes drift to you, lying peacefully on the cot. âDidnât expect to see this version of you.â
Bruce doesnât respond right away. He pulls his hand back from your hair, his gaze hardening. "What happened?" The question is direct, but underneath it, Constantine can hear the concern, the frustration Bruce doesn't voice aloud.
"She went off on her own," Constantine mutters, taking another drag before blowing out a cloud of smoke. "Went after a demon. Got roughed up pretty bad, but she handled it in the end. Strong kid. Stubborn too. Wonder where she gets that from, eh?"
Bruce's eyes narrow. "And you let her?"
"Let her?" Constantine laughs, a short, sharp sound. "Mate, I didnât let her. She went behind my back, just like sheâs gone behind yours for who knows how long. Difference is, Iâm the one she actually came back to.â
That lands like a punch to Bruce's gut. He doesnât react visibly, but Constantine can see the tension in his posture.
"I didn't know she wasâŠ" Bruce starts, then stops, shaking his head. The words feel inadequate. "I didn't know she was involved with this stuff, i didn't even know she was a meta. Or that she knew you."
"Yeah, well, she found her way to me," Constantine says with a shrug, stubbing out his cigarette on the wall. âAnd she's not a meta by the way, she's a vessel for some eldritch being"
A vague expression of surprise appears on Bruce's face.
"I don't blame you, mate. I was surprised to find her alive afterwards. Not just anyone survives that kind of transformation, she's strong.â
Bruce crosses his arms, his gaze flickering between you and Constantine. âI know sheâs strong.â
âDo you?â Constantine raises an eyebrow, the challenge clear in his tone. âBecause sheâs been running herself ragged trying to prove it. To you. To herself. And, hell, maybe to me too, but at least I see it.â
Thereâs silence for a moment. Bruce clenches his jaw, turning to look at you again, sleeping soundly despite the tension in the room. He knew Constantine was right. You'd been pushing yourself, fighting to show that you didnât need themâthat you were strong enough on your own. And he had let you. He'd let you because he didn't even care to notice.
Constantine sighs, sensing the weight of the silence. âLook, I didnât come here to throw stones. But youâve got to get your shit together with her. Sheâs tough, but sheïżœïżœïżœs still a kid, and sheâs your kid. She needs you.â
Bruce doesnât answer, but his silence speaks volumes. He watches you, the soft rise and fall of your chest, and feels the regret gnawing at him.
âIâll handle it,â Bruce finally says, though the words feel hollow.
Constantine gives him a long look, then nods. âYou better. Because if you donât, sheâll be right back with me..â
With that, Constantine pushes off the wall, flicking away the last of his cigarette. âIâll check in on her later. Try not to fuck this up, mate.â And with one last glance at you, Constantine leaves, the tension in the room ebbing with him.
Bruce remains, standing over you, his mind a whirlwind of regret, guilt, and the desire to fix whatâs been broken for far too long. He leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to your foreheadâsomething he hasnât done in what feels like yearsâbefore stepping back, pulling the chair beside your bed to sit vigil over you.
Heâs still not sure how to bridge the gap, but for now, he stays. Itâs a start.
Well, thats all folks! I really enjoyed writing this au, so thanks for the idea! Maybe ill even make a pt. 2 to this? Who knows? Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it.

Dorm Leaders Find Out You're a Girl?!?!?! (NOT CLICKBAIT!!!)
TW: Mentions of transphobia (nothing awful, just literally dropping the word lol); Idia is creepy
Info: Riddle, Leona, Azul, Kalim, Vil, Idia, Malleus x Reader (Platonic or Romantic); Fluff, Comedy(?)
đThis one is gonna be long, like 5.3k words long. I love writing the dorm leaders so damn much <3 Besides, thereâs been a long wait for this one, so I hope I make it worth it! You might see some favoritism shine through, but I did my best to keep it even. Hope you all enjoy!

First Years
Ortho Sebek
Second Years
Third Years
-Okay so, I know weâre all wondering, how the hell do you get away with hiding your gender for so damn long?
-Firstly, those ceremonial robes do great at hiding the figure. The only tell would maybe be your hair, but feminine men arenât unwelcome at Nightraven College, so you mostly get a few questioning stares and thatâs it.
-Secondly, Crowley wants to save his own fucking ass. He already has to hide from the press that he has a MAGICLESS student from ANOTHER DIMENSION here, he doesnât need the fact that you are a woman ALSO on his plate. So, obviously, he helps you hide your gender from others.
-Grim knows, of course, and he keeps his mouth shut for a few yummy cans of tuna (and threats of being expelled from Crowley <3)
-Even when you were just a janitor, he couldnât have the rumor that he put a âhelplessâ young woman to work. (Like it wouldnât be expected.)
-So how do you two do it?
-Baggy ass uniform. Crowley gave you at least three sizes too big.
-Your figure is completely hidden. Sure, you look completely homeless, but at least youâre hidden.
-For your voice, you simply deepen it. After some point, you blackmail Crowley into giving you a potion to help with it, since it's so taxing on your voice. (Or maybe your voice is naturally deep!)
-Sam provides you (for an unfairly pretty penny (not too different from your original worldâŠ)) any feminine hygiene products you might need.
-Honestly, youâre set for being cared for, but itâs the adjustment period thatâs the hardest part.Â
-Truly, itâs very jarring to suddenly be thrown into both a magical world and be isolated in a man's world with nowhere to hide.
-At least in your world you had other women who could understand your struggles. Here though? Youâre completely alone.
-You notice how⊠messy some of these guys could be. How some of them smell⊠really rancid. -How rough they were with you and each other.
-Honestly, itâs kinda eye-opening. The way men show affection to each other is oddly refreshing to watch and experience!
-Ace and Deuce specifically are a good⊠trial run.
-Thatâs not what weâre here to talk about thoughâŠ
-For the most part, it's incredibly easy to hide yourself for the first while on campus. Everyone on campus is so self-absorbed that they donât bother questioning you.
-Your only real risk factor is Savannaclaw, but it's easy to avoid those guys (minus Jack, of course).
-However, you can only hide your gender for so long⊠Itâs mentally draining to keep up this facade all the time around people you care about.
-So⊠how do they find out?
Riddle
-Riddle is the last student in Heartslabyul to find out.
-Itâs not like he did anything to you for you to hold off on telling him (you know, other than the whole almost killing you that one time thing), itâs just that you donât feel inclined to tell him.Â
-Simple as that.
-He also really has no reason to question your gender.Â
-Riddle didnât have must interaction with people his own age until he came to night raven college, he doesnât have the same social ideologies as other people do.
-Nightraven college is really his first touch with society outside of his mothers very watchful, conservative eye.
-So, excuse him for not picking up on stupid little gendered norms that the other students do.
-In his eyes, you dress like a man, you act (sort of) like the other male students, and you prefer he/him pronouns.Â
-Thereâs nothing more to it then, right? If you identify as a man, he has no reason not to treat you as such - nor should he suspect you would hide your gender like that.
-Besides, this is an all boys school! Crowley wouldnât allow you to attend here unless you were also a boy⊠right?
-He is aware there are exceptions â and you are already QUITE the exception, but surely Crowley wouldnât be so cruel as to force a young woman to attend an all boys academy.
-Ah, sweet Riddle, ever in denial.
-He isnât STUPID though. He notices how brotherly Trey is to you. He knows (and has heard) your many âsecret sleepoversâ with Cater.
-He ignores these things and doesnât comment on them simply because, well, he likes you!
-He helps to tutor you sometimes, and heâs gotten to know you through that, and he really does come around on enjoying your presence.
-So, he ignores Trey and Caterâs odd behaviors for your sake.
-You keep him and his dorm members in high spirits, why would he want to shoo something like that away?
-He doesnât really questionthings until he⊠overhears a conversation between Deuce and Ace. (A rather loud one, for how supposedly secret this topic was meant to be).
-One of them had gotten in trouble with a professor, and he was going to give them a stern scolding when he overheard what they were talking about.
-âDeuce, dude, youâre gonna want to sit down for this one.â
âWhat is it, Iâm busy trying to finish my potionology homework.â
âSeriously this one is crazy, youâre not ready for for it.â
âAce, if youâre just messing with me Iâm going to leave.â
âDude, the prefect is a girl.â
ââŠWhat?â
-Riddle did not bother the two after that. In fact, he just walked back to his room to sit and think about what he just overheard.
-It DID make sense. You didnât quite fit in with everyone else for reasons outside of your otherworldly origin.
-You acted differently than the typical guy here at NRC, and you seemed to get along with the peers that were more âtraditionally feminineâ best.
-It would explain Treyâs coddling and Caterâs secretiveness.
-Still, he didnât want to assume. This was Ace and Deuce, and Ace could just be messing around with Deuce.
-So, at your next tutoring session, he broaches the subject as politely as possible.
-âSo, prefect, I have⊠overheard something that I wanted to ask you about.â
âOh no, am I in trouble because of Ace and Deuce again.â
âNot⊠technically⊠I did, however, overhear them talking about⊠you being a woman.â
ââŠIâm gonna kill them.â
âI could collar them for you, if that would help.â
-The confirmation was reassuring for Riddle in multiple ways.Â
-1) Ace isnât as terrible of a person as the thought he was.
-2) He wasnât crazy in noticing the slight differences in you and your other peers.
-Now, you and Riddle arenât exactly super close by any means, so your interactions with each other are limited to when youâre either being tutored or with friends in Heartslabyul.
-However, he is notably more nervous than he usually is.
-He doesnât have some super secret crush on your all of the sudden, he just⊠never really had a chance to interact with women before.
-His mom kept him very sheltered from the opposite gender, so he has little to no experience with them.
-On top of that, because of his mother, he does have a slight fear of women. Heâs afraid heâs going to upset you and youâll blow a fuse on him or something.
-You have to assure him that you donât bite and you wonât suddenly start screaming at him for no reason, and then he begins to relax a bit.
-Still, heâs very sweet and gentlemanly to you.
-If you need help with anyone around campus, you should come to him and he will have them dealt with accordingly.
Leona
-Leona âRespects Womenâ Kingscholar.
-Leona has SLIGHTLY worse smell than Ruggie, but he also knew immediately upon your arrival that you were a girl.
-In fact, he knew you werenât a trans man, because they smell distinctly different from the typical woman.
-There arenât many trans people in the Savannah though, so Ruggie not being able to pick up on that doesnât really shock him.
-Leona, however, has smelled and seen plenty of trans people in his life time â you arenât one of them.
-He wonât lie, heâs definitely interested in you. Women where he comes from are big and strong and proud, youâre just kind of plain.
-He keeps his ever curious eye on you though, because heâs interested in how you might navigate this whole thing.
-Now donât get it twisted, he doesnât care about you, heâs curious about you.Â
-If you were to ask him for help on something, he wouldnât offer it. (Not that you would, you seem particularly averse to him).
-However, if he were to see some creep trying to⊠well⊠creep on you, heâd chase them away without ever having you know he did.
-He was your secret bodyguard who wouldnât admit it even if you held a knife to his throat.
-Still, he stayed out of your way and you stayed out of his.Â
-A symbiotic relationship that you werenât even aware existed⊠until you got in his way.
-Like Ruggie, when you start getting a little too involved in his ahem business, he gets pretty damn annoyed.
-Youâre not exactly a threat to start, but you are a little trouble maker. If you find out what heâs up to, youâll ruin his plans completely, and he canât have that.
-However, heâs not exactly comfortable âtaking care of youâ like he is his male peers.
-He respects women, okay, you canât blame him for not wanting to purposefully hurt you. (If his mom and brother found out, heâd never hear the damn end of it)
-He sends out Ruggie to scare you off, explicitly telling him he canât hurt you on purpose.
-He knows Ruggie already has an idea of whatâs going on, so he doesnât have any qualms with telling him to be careful with you.
-Still, despite all this, he doesnât really broach the topic until heâs forced to.
-Heâs made it known to you, at this point, that he knows your secret.Â
-He hasnât caused you any extra trouble since his overblot, and he keeps his dorm members off your back, so you have no reason to interact with him⊠until, again, you get yourself into trouble.
-This time itâs YOU dragging him into your mess, despite him wanting nothing to do with it.
-You are convincing, though, so he gives and allows you to stay in his dorm room â rent free! Isnât he so nice.
-Jack offers himself for protection if you need it, but you can see that Ruggie is quite bemused with the whole situation, so you decide to turn him down.
-Leona hasnât tried anything yet, and he really could if he wanted to.
-You decide you can trust him. (You have to trust him).
-Then presents the issue of sharing a bed.
-Leona isnât a weird pervert, okay. He isnât absolutely leaping at the idea to be in bed with you â heâs so sorry.
-Honestly, it makes him a bit⊠uncomfortable.
-Sharing a bed is something you do with family or someone youâre involved with, not the weird magic-less kid whoâs at least three years too young for you.
-So, Leona, ever the womenâs rights activist, approaches you with a proposition.
-âListen, I know youâre a woman and I know you know that. Weâre not sharing a bed, there ainât no way thatâs happening.â
âOh, so would you like the poor helpless homeless woman to sleep on the floor? How cruel can you be Leona.â
âShut up, Iâm not gonna do that to you. Listen, you can have the bed all to yourself and Iâll sleep on the couch, so long as you promise not to tell a single soul about this.â
âI promise.â
-You immediately tell Ruggie the next morning, and he is sure to make sure Leona never forgets it.
-Living with Leona for the short period of time that you do is very insightful!
-Heâs actually pretty funny, much smarter than he lets on, and almost brotherly to you. Which does not fit the M.O. you built of him in your head.
-Heâs gruff and pushy, but he does it out of genuineness.
-You end up getting really close to him because of it.Â
-His quiet and laid-back demeanor are a break from the chaos of everyone else on campus, and he doesnât make a big deal out of anything so you can just complain and he nods along unbothered.
-Only thing you notice that upsets him is when you bring up guys who bother you.
-Those guys tend to stop bothering you shortly after. How strangeâŠ
Azul
-Azul is hands down the last person on campus you want knowing about this.
-Riddle, Ruggie, Trey, Cater and pretty much everyone with half a brain tell you to stay as far away from him as possible.
-You see him in the halls sometimes, and he doesnât look to bad. Unapproachable, sure, but heâs a rather pretty guy. Well put together and seemingly very smart from what youâve been told.
-He helped to subdue Grim in the opening ceremony, so you know heâs magically capable. Heâs also a house warden, so that goes unspoken, I suppose.
-He seems interested in you, from what you can tell. He always waves at you when he does see you in a sort of fake friendly kind of way.Â
-Youâve seen him and his little (large, very large) goonies admiring ramshackle before.
-Youâve also politely asked them to not do that when you moved in, because it freaks you out a lot. To which they all gave you very eerie smiles and walked away.
-They remind you of a very small mafia, and you decided to heed your friends warnings because of that.
-You do so successfully for a long time too. Other than the few previously stated interactions, Azul seems un-inclined to bother you, and you donât want to catch his leering eyes.
-Little do you know, Azul has a much more watchful eye on you that you initially thought.
-Sure, you donât have much to offer him magic wise, but you have ramshackle. Oh, how he wants ramshackle.
-You are key to obtaining it, he just⊠has to find something on you first.
-Youâre so painfully average. Perhaps a little more pretty in the face than his other peers, but you sacrifice that with the atrociousness of your uniform.Â
-Truly, nothing about you is different.
-He almost gives up until Grim delivers him an opportunity in a pretty little bow.
-You agree to his contract out of the goodness of your heart, just like he knew you would. So sweet and kind are you, to practically hand him the deed to ramshackle on a silver platter.
-He notices, however, that Jade grows a very⊠sudden fascination with you.
-Sure, he told both Jade and Floyd to keep and eye on you and keep you in like, but for Jade to be so interested⊠very odd.
-Then, shortly after, Floydâs own interest is piqued. Alright⊠less odd than Jade, but to have both of their eyes on you must mean heâs missing something. (I know I previously said that Floyd found out after Azul, but I was stupid and wrong and you should never listen to me when Iâm talking about Floyd).
-He tries to get it out of them by any means, Asking, blackmailing, manipulation. He really does try, but their lips are sealed tight.
-It frustrates him to no end that they know something he doesnât, and that he canât figure out this very big secret.
-It stumps him for so long, because heâs looking in all the wrong places for the answer.
-Meanwhile, you know that Jade and Floyd know and you are TERRIFIED waiting for Azul to use this against you.
-The suspense starts killing you and making you anxious enough that its affecting sleep, so you decide to bite the bullet and arrange a meeting with him.
-Azul is honestly delighted, because he was just going to outright force the truth from you at this point.
-âIâm glad you set up this meeting, Iâve been meaning to talk to you.â
âI know⊠Iâve been pretty nervous about it since Jade and Floyd started pestering me.â
âBefore I talk about what I want to, Iâd like to hear what you have to say. Iâm a good listener after all.â
âToo good, if you ask me. Uhm, anyway, so I know that Jade and Floyd to you that Iâm a girl already, but Iâm really hoping you would just leave me be. You owe me after all.â
ââŠYouâre a girl?â
âDid they not tell youâŠ?â
-what. What? WHAT?!?!?!
-How could he not tell, he feel so incredibly stupid. Its so obvious now that he thinks about it.
-No wonder Jade and Floyd wouldnât stop teasing him about it.
-He agrees not to let the secret out â he DOES owe you his life, after all. This is a minor trade.
-However, he does not mentally recover from this revelation for a while.
-He doesnât treat you very different, I suppose. Heâs more gentlemanly with you, and is generally more friendly, but those things come from saving a persons life regardless.
-He is, surprisingly, willing to ensure your whole gender thing doesnât get out so long as you work a few hours at the monster lounge.
-Probably the best at keeping it to himself and making sure it doesnât get out. You wouldnât expect any less with Azul, though.
Kalim
-You and Kalim donât really have much of a chance to interact.
-He seems sweet enough, and you know heâs much kinder than the rest of the dorm leaders, but you donât really have any reason to interact with him.
-Kalim also doesnât think too much of you.Â
-You caused a ruckus at the entrance ceremony, thatâs for sure, but you kinda blend into the background.
-Besides heâs a party animal â constantly hosting these huge parties at his dorm just because he can.
-As someone trying to keep out of trouble and hide such a huge secret⊠yeah, parties arenât exactly your forte.
-So, when you get roped in to coming to Scarabia over winter break, Kalim is pleasantly surprised!
-Heâs always excited to make a new friend, and youâre pretty infamous around school, so heâs extra excited to get to know you.
-Kalim has no reason to question anything about you, like most other people would.
-However, he isnât stupid. He has plenty of younger sisters, and he picks up on social queues better than youâd expect.
-He definitely suspects something is off, but he figures you would tell him if something was up.Â
-You actually find him quite easy to be around. Heâs someone who makes it easy to let your walls down and just relax with.
-Despite his sudden mood shifts, he always makes sure that youâre happy and healthy and doing the best you can be in your position.
-However, you run out of the magical potion that deepens your voice pretty quickly, and you have to go back to dramatically straining your voice.
-You sound sick, honestly, and it makes Kalim worry.Â
-He figures that youâre forcing yourself to deepen your voice so youâre still perceived as a man.
-Instead of asking you directly, as Kalim does, he goes to Jamil.
-âJamilâŠâ
âWhat do you need, Kalim?â
âDonât you think somethings⊠off with the prefect?â
âOff? What are you talking about, nothings off with them.â
âNo, I mean⊠do you think they might be⊠a girl?â
ââŠKalim, thatâs very rude to say. You need to be more respectful.â
ââŠYouâre right, Iâm sorry. Could we get him something to soothe his voice though, it sounds rough.â
-Kalim is a lot more watchful of you after that. He just⊠knows something is wrong, but he doesnât want to be rude.
-Itâs actually you who comes to him when no one is around for help.
-âKalim, uhm, I need your help.â
âSure, whatâs up?â
âSo, Iâm pretty sure you know, but Iâm not a guy⊠Iâm a girl, and I really need help hiding it. The longer Iâve been here, the harder itâs been on me.â
-Sweetheart he is, he promises to both help you and keep your secret to himself â and he does both surprisingly well!
-He offers his private bathroom to you so you can shower in peace.Â
-Itâs honestly the best bath youâve ever had with all his sweet smelling oils. Your skin feels so smooth and renewed.
-Still, even with this, you still donât feel safe with anyone else â plus the fact that Kalim has random and horrifying mood shifts. You have to flee.
-And yet you still get dragged into more trouble with the octatrio. You still get exposed to the whole dorm by a crazed Jamil, and now have to deal with the horror that theyâll tell everyone.
-Kalim feels awful, and thus shows his forgiveness in the best way he can: giving gifts.
-You get tons of apology gifts from him in the coming months. Baskets of the best shower stuff youâve ever had; a new, better fitted but still innocuous uniform; enough tuna to keep grim satisfied for years (and sweets that you happily keep to yourself).
-Itâs so nice, but you start to feel bad. It feels like youâre taking advantage of his guilt, when youâre not really upset at anyone involved anymore.
-Youâre welcome at Scarabia any time. None of his dorm members will ever cause you any trouble, and you can dress and act and sound however you want within Scarabiaâs walls.Â
Vil
-Miss beauty queen himself. We love Vil, we Stan Vil, we adore VilâŠÂ
-Oh my god heâs a pain in the ass though, especially for you.
-He sees through you in an instant.
-Truly, Vil finds you to be more of a little pest than anything.
-You are constantly in trouble, you are magic less, and you decided to needlessly hide your gender.
-The last one is the worst offense in his eyes.
-Vil is someone who does not value gender, but expression. Your gender does not matter as much as your expression, therefore you hiding your expression irks him.
-Heâs understanding enough in the fact that he knows you might be doing this to protect yourself, but he finds it stupid and useless, because youâre easy to see through.
-He avoids you, and you avoid him. Simple as that.
-Unfortunately for Vil, youâve caught Rookâs eye, which means he must sit through many hours of Rook rambling on about his âfindingsâ about you.
-When you tried out for the VDC, he was simply going to turn you and Grim away, but Rook convinced him to give you a chance.
-Rook wanted him to help your reveal your âinner beautyâ, though Vil wasnât sure if you had any of that.
-You wore baggy, horrifically ugly clothing up until winter break. Your hair was constantly a mess. Your skin was poorly taken care of, and the bags under your eyes were as dark as night.
-It almost made him feel bad for you⊠so despite his better judgement, he decided to invest time in you.
-Vil makes it very clear that he knows what your whole secret is.
-âI am aware of the fact that you are a woman, however, I will continue to use your preferred pronouns since it seems to bring you comfort.â
-Heâs very insistent that you allow him to do your skincare AND your makeup whenever you give him the chance.
-Especially when he moves into ramshackle temporarily, heâs very insistent on maintaining your skincare routine.
-He essentially makes your entire nightly routine himself, and is right there over your shoulder making sure you do it right.
-Despite how overbearing it is, you actually make good friends with him through this.
-Being stuck alone in a room with no one but him to talk to forces you two to talk.
-You get to learn why he cares so much about appearances, and he gets to know why you hide to protect yourself.
-âItâs just⊠easier to pretend, because guys will bother me less that way.â
âI canât understand why they would bother you. Youâve done nothing to them, so why would they want to do anything to you.â
âThatâs the thing, I donât know either. I just know itâs scary, and I donât want to deal with it.â
-You move him, honestly. Youâre strong even though youâre scared, and thatâs beautiful. Thats what true beauty is.
-He helps you embrace your inner self and express that, while still helping you to hide your gender in a way that feels safe.
-You are always welcome at Pomefiore, and you can come to either him or Rook if you have any issues at all.
-Itâs like having a big sister, almost.
Idia
-Idia has eyes everywhere.
-Every inch of that campus is (illegally) being monitored by his watchful eyes.Â
-When heâs bored in class, he flicks through the cameras to amuse himself â maybe heâll see someone slip and fall on their ass. That would be funny.
-Heâs not really interested in you in particular.
-In fact, heâd like to keep a very far distance between the two of you.
-Youâre⊠intimidating. Youâve fought some of the most powerful mages on campus and won.
-Total final boss energy, not something Idia is interested in being around.
-What he IS interested in is that wittle kitty youâve got following you around.
-When heâs bored in class, he goes searching for Grim, and where Grim is you are sure to be.
-So, despite his aversion to you, he ends up spending a lot of time watching you.
-He starts to notice⊠things about you.
-He notices that you seem to put on a tough guy persona around⊠well⊠other guys in your class.
-When itâs just you and Grim though? Youâre the softest softie heâs ever seen.
-Itâs top tier cringe watching you try to being all macho, so he much prefers your more quiet and relaxed self you show in private.
-Seriously though, youâre a TOTALLY DIFFERENT PERSON when youâre alone with certain people.
-EVEN YOUR VOICE CHANGES!!!
-Itâs so uber creepy, itâs like a jumpscare every time you drop that fake deep voice.
-If heâs being real, youâve got a pretty voice. Honestly, youâre really pretty period. Too pretty to be a guy honestly.
-âŠ
-âŠ.
-âŠ..HOLY SHIT!!!
-He has to check your medical files to be sure â which he obviously has access to, thanks to having access to everything Ortho has access to.
-Blah blah blah allergies, blah blah blah horrific injuries from overblots, blah blah blah- AH HAH!
-Next to gender you are listed as⊠transgender man.
-He doesnât wanna be that weird transphobic incel, but from what heâs seen? He highly doubts that.
-From what heâs seen in his (invasive) watching, youâre definitely doing the troupe of hiding your gender to better fit in.
-He feels like heâs in an anime or something.
-He doesnât really want to bother you about it â but from watching you, you seem like someone heâd really enjoy being around.
-Ortho also insists that heâd get along with you very well!
-âŠItâs worth a shot right.
-He tries several times to âbumpâ into you, which always ends in him skittering away in fear.
-He psyches himself out every time. âThey wouldnât even wanna hang out with a loser like me.â âTheyâre way too cool for someone as lame as me.âÂ
-Itâs not until you invite yourself to one of tabletop clubâs meetings that heâs forced to interact with you.
-Heâs really banking on the fact that youâll be too busy talking with Azul to notice him, but then Azul leaves and its just you and him.
-Him and youâŠ
-Both of you⊠in total and complete silence.
-âŠyepâŠÂ
-âUhm, IdiaâŠ?â
âyES!?â
âI came here cause I wanted to talk to you, sorry for being so underhanded about it, I just couldnât get you alone without you running off.â
âAHâ I mean, ahem, okay. My bad.â
-You totally cornered him like an evil villain.
-All because you wanted to⊠be his friend?
-Is he dreaming, going insane perhaps, did HE get isekaied into an alternate universe where he was likable???
-Nope, Ortho just talks him up a lot, and you think his hair is cool. Huh. Kinda lame compared to what he was thinking.
-You guys talk a LOT after that. You exchange numbers and you text him about all sorts of stuff â and heâs actually interested in it!
-You learn that heâs been watching you and Grim for a long time, and while you scold him.
-You think itâs pretty funny that heâs embarrassed about his love for cute things.
-âIf youâve been keeping your eye on me for so long, you mustâve figured out that Iâm a girl, right?â
âYeah, youâre not great at hiding it. That macho guy act is suuuuper lame, you look like a noob lol.â
âHey! Iâm just copying what Deuce told me to do!â
-You guys donât really see each other face to face very often, but like I said you text a lot.
-Sometimes heâll text you shit like âI saw that, saved it for blackmail.â After you biffed your shit on the pavement or something.
-When Idia gets more comfortable, you two spend hours on call whenever you get the chance.
-He lends you some of his precious manga, and even gives you an older TV he had laying around so you can watch stuff at ramshackle.
-Sometimes he invites you over to play video games with him and Ortho, and he gets all cocky and proud when you gush about how cool all his tech is.
-And, yeah, Idia definitely forms a little crush on you â but he would do that regardless of your gender.Â
-He just likes you a lot, and you can feel safe on campus knowing heâs watching over you when you need it. (Mostly watching Grim, tbh.)
Malleus
-We know that Malleus enjoys⊠creeping outside of Ramshackle.
-He spends quite a lot of time on your front lawn, therefore, heâs usually in proximity of you.
-However, he is very intimidating!
-As a young woman in a magical world that you are not from, a very tall man with horns is the exact opposite of what you want to be around.
-Besides, youâve heard the rumors about him â how powerful he is, and how scary he is.
-Malleus, on the other hand, is admittedly curious about you.
-He finds humans in their own right incredibly interesting, but you are not just a regular human.
-You are a human who has no magic and is from another world entirely.Â
-You are something he has never once seen in his whole life, so excuse his childish curiosity.
-Still, youâre sort of cleverly avoiding him at every chance you get, and he just canât quite find the time to talk to you.
-Until one night, you come back rather late and you find him in your yard⊠again.
-You send Grim in by himself and decide to confront him by yourself, because you are tired of being afraid to fall asleep at night.
-âHey, you, could you maybe not stare at my house in the middle of the night!â
-Oh. You are quite feisty, and very bold to approach Malleus Draconia with such an aggressive tone.
-âIâm unsure what you mean, Iâm simply admiring the architecture.â
âI donât care WHAT youâre doing, youâre freaking me out! I know youâre supposedly some big scary monster guy, but I need you to STOP being weird outside my house.â
ââŠMy apologiesâŠâ
-Malleus is pleasantly surprised at your spunk â heâs never been spoken to like that, heâs excited by it.
-After you yell at him, you let him explain himself, and you realize he is just⊠really, really bad at socializing.
-He wasnât watching you, he just really enjoys silence and ramshackle is the quietest place on campus â even with you living in it.
-So, you give him the benefit of the doubt, because he really does just seem like heâs lost on everything around him 90% of the time.
-You donât hang out with him during the day, but if you happen to see him on your lawn (as he usually is), you go out and hang out with him for a while.
-It makes Malleus happy, because you treat him like a friend. You give him cute nicknames, and you invite him inside for snacks, and you go out of your way to say hello to him when you pass him in the halls.
-He also gets to know more about you, and his curiosities about you and your world get quelled.
-He doesnât really question anything about you, especially not your gender.
-Gender is hardly important for fae, and you seem confident in your expression, so he has no reason to wonder. Besides, there are far more thrilling things about you than your sex.
-So, you and Malleus start to grow close. So close, in fact, that you can confidently say that heâs one of your closest friends.
-At this point, almost everyone who you want to know about your gender knows. Everyone but Malleus.
-Initially you kept it a secret because you didnât know how good he was at not talking, but nowâŠ
-Now, well, you donât really have a reason.
-People usually question you at this point, or at least seem suspicious, but Malleus?
-Malleus shows not a hint that he thinks something is up. Itâs odd to you, isnât he supposed to be super smart or something. Maybe heâs just too respectful.
-Regardless, you decided to talk to him about it the next time you see him staring at the gargoyles around campus.
-âHey Tsunotaro, whatâre you up to?â
âJust admiring these gargoyles here, arenât they fascinating? They were the first few installed in the school, if my memory serves me correctly.â
âThey are very cool, but could I ask you something not gargoyle related?â
âWhat is it, child of man?â
âYou know that Iâm, uhm, a girl right?â
âOh. I did not know that, how interesting.â
-He doesnât understand why you would hide that, but it doesnât really perturb him that much.
-The most you got was an eyebrow raise, and then he was back to his gargoyles.
-You were pretty satisfied with that, so you figured he wouldnât tell anyone⊠and then you hear him loudly talking about it with his friends in Diasomania.
-Sigh⊠he means well, but he just doesnât get the social stuff.
-Youâre not mad, because pretty much everyone knows at this point, but it still sucks that heâs such a loudmouth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The leaders of an empire had to be infamous, when you heard the name of the leaders you had to get heart-racing, feel fear and already ask the gods for mercy.
The Holy Roman Empire's reputation preceded it, the world seemed to belong to them, there was no land, no area that they had not conquered and taken.
The imperial brothers were notorious for their mercilessness, the elder the self-proclaimed god who judged without even listening to others, his opinion and power counted.
The younger, even if not politically and divinely knowledgeable, was all the more ruthless, a child in the body of a man, as some said, who would climb into the Colosseum himself if it meant seeing his enemy dead and mutilated.
For years, they had been spreading gold and blood across the land, showing no mercy and causing fear...only the sun in the imperial palace of Rome was like a goddess.
The sun that when you saw it immediately gave you hope for a better world, it was the mirror of reason when it came to the atrocious decisions of her husband Caracallas and her brother-in-law Getas.
But only one reason did not seem enough for all the inhabitants and nihct all the gladiators, if they had known what was conspiring in the lower ranks the three would never have even entered the Colosseum.
The high sun fell on the palace, illuminating mosaics and paintings, and the empress looked out, a smile playing around her lips as she saw the red gem that had been set into the golden ring on her finger.
Remembering his smile when Caracalla had given her the ring as a wedding gift His favorite color a blood red she thought and shook her head with a grin, her servant pausing as her mistress rose to follow her.
They all got ready, another fight in the coliseum, a great match and a look in the mirror that told her she was dressed appropriately for what was to come.
The servant looking down at her adjusted the fabric before nodding and pulling it back so as not to disturb her any further, a golden fabric with a deep dead and dark painted eyes, the red for Caracalla and the black for Geta whose eyes also looked like this.
Even though she belonged to Caracalla, she had a deep friendship with her brother-in-law, in those moments when she despaired with her loved one, when the madness became too much, Geta was there to help her, ,,The color is beautiful!â she heard a loud voice as seconds before her door opened and saw Caracalla whose clothes were more the color of turquoise and resembled flowing water.
She couldn't help but turn and the fabric fluttered, the golden tooth flashed as his hands wandered over the fabric and his cheeks turned pinker as she gave him a kiss, ,,You look like flowing water my king,â she replied, tracing the shiny fabric, a nice job by the closer she had to give them credit once more.
The pair held each other in their arms as footsteps echoed through the corridor again and Appollo himself appeared to stand before them, ,,Brother! Majestically divine,â the younger one said, looking fascinated at all the gold attached to Geta and the fine work on the black fabric.
They were the blood in the water who took the hand of the flowing water which was overlooked with a smile of burnt wood and a god as the three made their way to the colloseum.
Caracalla held her hand, pride in his gaze and he kissed it again and again, which she returned on the tip of his nose, the two sat side by side on the throne and Geta made the announcement
,,An overwhelming fight,â she said, pointing to the sharks in the water and seeing Caracalla nod. Sharks were his idea, at first he wanted to pick up a crossbow himself but she and Geta couldn't persuade him to go for sharks, a decision that would mean fewer deaths, at least in the ranks of the audience.
The three of them sat down excitedly, wine goblets in her and Geta's hands, while Caracalla was much too jittery as the ships rowed out, she hadn't seen him this excited for a long time and Geta was eager to see who won...it was no secret that he wanted to see the "poet" dead.
She herself was almost indifferent, the Colosseum amused her husband, quenched his thirst for blood, she herself was entertained and Geta could live out his fantasies, it was helpful and as long as everyone was happy she would be too - besides, Caracalla was sweet bobbing up and down next to her when another one died.
It relieved her to see him like this, not delirious but simply happy and that was what mattered to her.
Horns blistered, wood creaked and sharks swam faster as arrows were shot at each other and after a few moments the first landed in the water and she knew that some bets were already lost or won.
It was another fight to the death, only on a different scale.
The battle was in full swing no one wanted to give in and even though the ships had reached every part of the Coloseum by now, the battle had wedged itself right in front of the stage. Directly below the imperial family who were looking down with anticipation for an end, anxious to see who would win.
,,Shoot! Kill them!â she heard Caracalla shout again and Geta had also put his goblet aside, she stifled an eye roll sometimes they both seemed to be children.
Two adults who could forget all their worries when they were here, a nice moment because they weren't bothered by the worries of the realm.
She was about to take a sip of wine, her hand went to her husband's, his blue eyes glanced at her, a happy expression met hers as the air was filled with a whirring sound and a scream could be heard.
There was a clink as the goblet slipped from her hand, the drink mingled with her blood on the floor, Caracalla's scream followed as je jumped up and stood in front of her to protect hiw wife and Geta's screaming command as he tried to pull his family away.
The arrow from the crossbow, shot with such force, had almost nailed her to the stone throne. Caracalla tore her away from it but did not pull the arrow out, too quickly would she continue to lose blood, too quickly would he fall into madness as the sanity of a frightened loving man struggled with his madness to burn Rome to the ground.
It...is...all...right she thought, wanting to say it but not making a sound as her hand went to her neck and she felt the unnatural inside. The blood stained her hand warmly as she coughed on a breath something seemed to block her air, she didn't see the blood flowing from her lips, the same color as her tunic.
As Caracalla pulled her along trying to be careful. It seemed as if the gods were beside her, as if someone was carrying her, as if she was numb, everything around her was melting and her hand felt strange as it slipped from Caracalla's grasp.
As if she had no control anymore, not seeing the blood trail that stretched from the throne into the hallway, the guards now supporting her as her body gave way, no breath reaching her as she slowly realized that something was probably stuck in her throat.
Blue crying eyes searched hers, his voice told her something and she saw Geta tear his brother away from her, but what they were arguing about she didn't know, her eyelids too heavy and the feeling of drowning even though she wasn't in the water too strong for her to move. Would she end up like this?
But who would protect Caracalla? A fear welled up inside her, arms holding her tighter, gripping her painfully, her voice like a distant echo as she spoke Caracalla's name, not knowing if he even heard it before the world around her was shrouded in darkness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A never-ending darkness for her, her unconscious body carried into the palace by the imperial guards, the medics attending to her as quickly as they could.
While the doors remained closed and nothing could be heard from the room for hours, it was the cries of Rome that resounded all the louder as Geta gave orders for security and arrests, while in the Senate it was Caracalla who returned to the Colosseum with sword, crossbow and torch and a group of soldiers.
For every hour that passed, the corpses of every single gladiator piled up in the arena, for every word he cut and shot more into the body, for every lie, for every false word he burned more and more.
There was no smile on his lips, no golden tooth flashing, no giggle and no desire for more, it was the sense of revenge and justice he wanted...he would kill all of Rome if it brought back his love.
Only when he had just shot the last one in the throat with the crossbow arrow late at night did the news of her awakening reach him, at least she was no longer in immediate mortal danger.
He ignored the words of his brother who told him to wait, ignored Dundus who jumped out of the way and doors were flung open as he entered her chamber.
Torches lit the room, the smell of blood hung heavy in the room and herbs only slightly masked it, ,,My heart, my sun I am here, you are awake, the gods have shown mercyâ he said hastily as he sat down at her bedside, slightly bent over her as he took her hand and looked anxiously at the bandages on her neck.
It had taken hours to close the wound, using one bandage after another until she had stopped bleeding to some extent.
Her eyes still heavy, the pain burning and she slowly took heavy breaths as she slowly saw him clearly, ,,Are...you...hurt?â she asked slowly, gasping, trying to sit up, he seemed overwhelmed, afraid of hurting her even more.
Guilt and fear met her concern that was still for him, her fingers weakly stroking his cheek and leaving kisses on it as he laughed bitterly, ,,I made them all pay, sacrificed them one by one,â he assured her, seeing her touched look.
The blood that stained him, the blood of hundreds she had brought back and he would have given so much more, ,,So kind-heartedâ she whispered and he laid his forehead against hers, holding her while his warm hands held her cold ones.
With every apology he tried to make, with every death he told her, she seemed to come more to her senses hours passed as he held her body, trying to give her his warmth.
Leaving gentle kisses on her battered body, ,,I will not lose you, the king and his sun belong togetherâ he reminded her of her own words and the smile on her face matched his.
Over the next few days, the emperor stayed with his wife, only allowing his brother and the doctors to visit, who continued to care for the empress with everything they had.
Every day he continued to sacrifice gladiators, convinced that the gods had to listen to him, a concept that prevailed when the last of the gladiator's blood was drained and the sun of Rome was declared healed.
Although still weak, she managed to stand up with the help of her husband, holding on to him he instructed her to do one step after the other, ,,Wonderful! You are stronger than all the gods!â he exclaimed as she walked towards him and he took her in his arms, gently stroking the scar on her still bruised skin.
Turning her head away, not wanting to blame him, he stopped her, ,,That's over, I'm healed Caracalla,â she reminded him, seeing the piercing look in his eyes.
He held her gently, resting his forehead against hers again she heard the soft chuckle as he left a kiss on it, one on the tip of her nose, her lips before he placed a quick but loving kiss on her scar.
,,Rituals of our love...you survived, the scar shows our strengthâ he held against it and as much as it hurt, the fear and memory when she looked into that hopeful face.
The look in his bright eyes and the love on her body, he loved her, loved her for everyone, she couldn't help but smile and return the kiss.
No one would be able to kill the king and his sun, the leaders of Rome would continue to be three and that would not change, because even love could not be killed, it only made everything stronger.

love the chaotic-ness of platonic alastor and reader of your posts!! the way you write him is more canon compliant but that makes it even more GREAT. can i req platonic alastor (+maybe rosie as a trio?) with overlord!reader. they just talk shit about the Vees and stuff lmao and do it openly on his radio show. hang out at rosieâs. maybe alastor gets reader to support the hotel too and everyoneâs to alastor is like THEM?? You know THEM??? alastorâs like yeah lol we blow stuff up every tuesday and broadcast it where you at
OVERLORD PODCAST OVERLORD PODCAST OVERLORD PODCAST-
Alastor X Reader X Rosie Headcanons
âïžRomantic
â
ïžPlatonic
TW: Alastor and Rosie cannibalism
Description: đâŹïž
The three of you are very busy demons who have demanding jobs so getting together doesn't happen as often as you'd like
But when you get together??? It's almost like you're all a bunch of gossiping old women instead of powerful deadly overlords
Rosie brings the snacks(bring your own if you don't want people meat), Alastor provides the venue, and you pick the topic of discussion
The first podcast was entirely an accident, Alastor forgetting he was on air when you and Rosie suddenly burst in
ALASTOR YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED
He gets so sucked into what you're saying that he forgets about his radio show and everything the three of you are saying is being broadcast live
But a lot of people are tuning into it??? Like everyone is so entertained by the three of you and your conversation
Once you three realize what happened then you all agree that this must become a weekly occurrence
Even the other overlords listen in on it every once in a while, finding it hilarious
Vox is absolutely livid because he's being IGNORED, why is nobody watching tv anymore???
He tries to get you and Rosie on his show instead but the two of you don't even take the offer seriously
The chemistry would be all off without Alastor's sparkling humor anyways
Which makes him throw a huge tantrum that becomes the next topic between the three of you
Y'all are just trashing this man at this point
It's his own fault for providing you three with so much ammo
But nobody is safe
It's just a fun little gossip podcast that somehow blows up and turns into this gigantic thing
But it gives you three an excuse to hang out
Whenever the conversation starts to drift towards the hotel you try to stay out of it for your own reasons
And it does always go back to the hotel, Alastor is running a business afterall
Alastor slowly starts to warm you up to the idea of his hotel, whatever your motivations are or if you believe in it
Rosie also encourages you to at least humor him and go see it
Easy for you say, he's not pressuring YOU
So you give in one day, accompanying Alastor to the hotel
Huh, Alastor wasn't joking when he said that Lucifer's daughter was his partner đ€
You're not entirely surprised when you see the shocked looks everyone gives Alastor when they see you
WTF ALASTOR WHEN YOU SAID Y/N WAS COMING I DIDN'T THINK YOU MEANT Y/N THE OVERLORD
Who else would it have been, Vaggie???
Everyone nervously watches you and Alastor interact, it's two extremely powerful beings in one hotel
Except for Niffty, she greats you like an old friend, climbing all over you and making maniacal noises
Husk and Niffty are the only ones not surprised by your friendship, knowing that you and Alastor are good friends
They fill the others in on your relationship when they think you two aren't listening
It's almost funny hearing it come from someone else, you had nearly forgotten how you two met
"That's right..! I DID try to kill you! That's so funny!"
"Isn't it? And I do believe I nearly bit your hand clean off!"
You two are fucking deranged
You have a better understanding of why Alastor wants so much support for this hotel now
And you're a little surprised that Charlie seems to believe so genuinely in the idea of redeeming a soul
Regardless of if you're sold in the idea or not, you agree to support the hotel for Alastor
But now you're going to rope Rosie in with you too, if you're gonna go down then the three of you are going down together
But that's unlikely to happen, Alastor wouldn't lead you guys into a death trap
He's never steered you wrong before
This was so fun to write!!

Hi dear! I would like to appreciate your works. I really enjoy everything you wrote, Wish you have a great day! đ
Since you're taking requests, could you please write Wade with a polite, sweet and delicate partners. He's with a person who's the definition of "Too pure for this world and MUST be PROTECTED at all cost" His partner showers him with love and validation, and always love to listen to him! Thanks! đ
possibly based on real life events.
Wade Wilson is so in love, it must be sickening to everyone around him.Â
In fact he knows it is and he does not care. Heâll say âlook at this meme the love of my life sent me!â and the person who he shows will roll their eyes, as if you donât have incredible taste in cat pictures. Heâll monologue constantly about how cute you are and how much he loves that scrunchy thing you do with your nose. Heâs recited committed-to-memory facts about you so many times that his friends can parrot them too.Â
âYes, I know what their favourite film is, I know you took them to a special viewing of it for their birthday. Itâs cute, Wade,â says Laura, patting him on the arm condescendingly. Well, itâs not his fault youâre so wonderful! There isnât a single thing about you thatâs not perfect. Heâs constantly bowled over about just how much affection he can fit in his body for you. The other night he was going on about something stupid - he canât even remember what now, maybe it was about the new Taco Bell menu? - and then realised you hadnât interrupted him once to shut him up like most people would.
Youâd looked over the top of your magazine at him when heâd pointed this out, brow cocked.
âWhy would I want you to shut up? I like listening to you talk, Wade.â
Marry you. Heâs going to marry you. Every day, then divorce you every day too so he can marry you again.Â
You are probably too good for him. Most of his social circle thinks so. Youâre patient and kind, when youâre not at your job - where you work at a charity adopting out senior animals, as if you could be any more of a fucking angel - you like to spend your time in his shitty little kitchen, baking desserts for him to get home to. Heâll find you getting Al to taste test for you and his apartment full of laughter and joy.Â
Man, heâs definitely put on like, six pounds since the two of you started dating. He needs to be stronger in the face of your cupcakes.Â
They are really fucking good though.Â
He walks in that night with a plushie under his arm. Itâs a cow. He remembers you mentioning offhand how cute you thought cows were, so he decided to grab the biggest one the toy store one the way home had just because he knows itâll make you smile. You donât need any more stuffed toys; you sleep with them all in the bed and theyâre pushing him off the side at this point because of their sheer number but, well, he likes seeing you happy.Â
And then he hears sobbing.Â
âSweetheart?â he asks, immediately panicked. Are you injured? Has someone come to hurt you - has he painted a target on your back because of his job? Bile fills his throat as he stumbles forwardâŠ
âŠand there you are, sitting in front of the TV, PlayStation controller in your lap as tears run down your face while the end of the game plays out. Wade has never felt such relief in his life, laughing as the ache of it is taken from his chest. You turn to him with wide, watery eyes.Â
âDonât you laugh at me, Wade Wilson!â
âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry. But babe⊠are you crying at the end of Kingdom Hearts?â
âNo!â you lie, trying to mop your face off with your sleeve. Then the music hits its crescendo from the crappy speakers and you start wailing all over again.Â
He loves you. Heâd kill a million billion people for you. It would take a hell of a long time but hey, one word and heâd do it. If anyone even lifted a finger to hurt you heâd execute them so thoroughly that every generation of their family would be wiped out of existence too.Â
To put it in terms youâd approve of, heâd do anything for you. But he also knows youâd never ask him to. Youâre just that wonderful.Â
â⊠would it help if I got us take-out and you started playing the second one?â
âUh-huh,â you manage to confirm.Â
âI could be in this fucking game, beat Donald Duckâs little feathery ass. Disney, make it happen.â
âWhat?â
âDonât worry about it. Pizza or Chinese?â

BEDROOM HYMNS
You moved away from between her trembling legs after a cry of pleasure muffled by her own hand that she had covered her mouth with. Alicentâs juices were dripping down your chin when you smirked at her and looked up to meet her big brown eyes. Those soft big brown eyes that you adored more than anything. You had always adored them. So full of sadness and softness and you had never wanted anything but to make her feel better.
âHave I pleased you?â You asked while peppering her soft inner thighs with your kisses although you knew the answer already. Her husband had no idea how to please her.
The Queen only nodded and looked away. Poor Alicent â she always felt bad and guilty after the peak had already been reached. The sudden realisation of her sin was soul-crushing but the tension and desire had been too great to ignore them. She deserved the relief and you did not see anything bad about it.
âHow many times do we have to do this?â You sighed and lied next to her in her bed. Your fingertips caressed her sides and your lips attached themselves to the crook of her neck, smelling all the scented oils in her hair. She was The Queen of the Realm and she was pampered like no other Lady. âThere is no shame in this.â
âThere is a sin,â Alicent turned her head around to finally meet your gaze. She raised her hand to nervously play with the seven-pointed star pendant on her sweaty chest.
âWhy?â You bit on your lip and caressed her auburn locks out of her face.
âIt is betrayal,â she frowned as if she was getting frustrated with your lack of understanding.
âIt would have been if you lied with a man,â you explained and kissed her cheek before laying on your back and staring at the ceiling.
âI should find your vague idea of morality perplexing,â Alicent pointed out and you couldnât help but chuckle at her confession.
âBut you do not and thank Gods for that,â you rolled your eyes with a smirk.
A silence occurred as Alicent kept playing nervously with the pendant between her fingers and you were staring at the ceiling and counting all the cracks.
âWhat kind of husband is my brother?â She asked suddenly and you turned your head around to look at her again.
âA good one,â you admitted, feeling nearly guilty for that because you knew why she was asking â her husband was not good. Not to her and not to her children.
âWhy are you doing this then?â Alicent asked.
It was obvious why her brother was on her mind now. He would arrive at King's Landing any day now. You couldnât wait to see Gwayne again after a few months of being apart and you only wished he had taken your son with him but he could not. Robyn was the eldest son and he was supposed to stay in Oldtown. He had just become a squire and leaving his knight for a few long weeks would not be advised, therefore you had to go on missing your boy. Day after day as if he was a burning hole in your chest. Mothers would always miss their sons, you assumed.
âTo kill the time,â you shrugged your arms, not wanting to reveal how much Alicent meant to you and for how long. âAnd to help you. You are my friend and I love you,â you confessed.
Alicent always loved Princess Rhaenyra more. Your father was a Master of Coin in King Viserysâ Small Council and you were growing up together â three girls running around happily. Or rather â two girls following the Princess like two overjoyed puppies. Rhaenyra was the centre of everything for you and not only because she was the Princess but also because she meant everything to Alicent. No matter how much effort you were putting into making Alicent like you more, you were destined to fail for she always was choosing Rhaenyra over you.
It made you grow bitter towards The Princess but never towards Alicent. You were blaming yourself â you had to become more and try harder perhaps and maybe then youâd earn more than just leftover crumbs of her love and friendship.
You couldnât understand your feelings back then â why was the attraction so strong, what was making you feel so attached to the young Hightower Lady. You were the same age and yet everything she said was like a command to you. Wherever she went, you followed. Even when you felt like a burden because she so clearly would rather be left alone with Rhaenyra. But Rhaenyra never minded your presence because to her you were only a pawn on the board, an ornament, an addition of no importance. So, you often witnessed the two girls laughing together, whispering, exchanging small gestures of affection. You were only watching. Observing as your heart ached.
During The Heir's Tournament you met Ser Gwayne Hightower, Alicentâs older brother. He was young then, eager to show off his abilities and make his family proud. Perhaps he did not have his sisterâs big brown eyes but he had the auburn hair you loved so much about her and he had her softness about him. You were enamoured with him in no time and when he approached the royal box to greet his sister â he caught your eye and you caught his and for that moment when your eyes met, you felt butterflies all over your body.
Ser Gwayne Hightower received your favour on that day and the sparkles of joy in your eyes while you were throwing the wreath at him were very obvious to your father and to his as well. You could not know that then but they exchanged meaningful looks for a short moment.
Even though Gwayne lost the duel with Prince Daemon Targaryen, he did not lose your affection. In fact, witnessing him nearly winning and losing only because Prince Daemon chose to play dirty â it only solidified your feelings. Ser Gwayne was a righteous man, a chivalrous knight and a brave one, too. It took lots of courage to face Prince Daemon Targaryen himself.
Gwayne was carried away with his face covered in blood and dirt while his mind was filled with thoughts of you â of losing your favour and your interest. However, you hurried to his side right after the tournament ended to make sure he was fine. And at the sight of you â he truly was fine again.
You were only ten and five but you knew already that Ser Gwayne was the only man you could see yourself being married off to. Thankfully, your father saw that, too. Two years later you were sent to Oldtown and for the whole time in between you were exchanging letters. When Alicent was married off to King Viserys shortly after his wifeâs death, you still felt bitter but not as much as you could because you mostly felt excited about your own upcoming wedding.
However, the sadness and anxiety on Alicentâs face on her wedding day were a sight you would never forget.
Years and years of the happy marriage had passed and you were still in touch with your sister-in-law because of the letters you were exchanging and her son that you and Gwayne were raising in Oldtown â Prince Daeron Targaryen. But other than that, you had your own life now to live, your own duties, your own offspring and Alicent was simply not occupying your mind as much as in your adolescent years.Â
You were aware of King Viserysâ health getting worse and worse as Alicent was ruling the Kingdom in his name. The burden of responsibility was heavy and her marriage was getting more and more difficult. You couldnât say the same of your own union â you loved Gwayne and he loved you. Just like every married couple you had your misunderstandings and disagreements but you were grateful for him every day of your life and you knew well that he felt the same towards you.
It was after breakfast on one of those days that seemed to be pretty typical in the morning and then they turned out to be life-changing for a person. Without a warning and without an ominous feeling deep in oneâs gut, they just happened and changed lives.
A letter came to you from Queen Alicent and you expected nothing of great importance in it so you put it below the pile of letters you had to respond to this morning. You sat by your desk and dipped the feather in the black ink as you started to perform one of your duties as Lady Hightower, helping your husband to run Oldtown in his fatherâs name.
Letter after letter, until finally you were left with the last one. You opened it with a small yawn, which turned into a frown after reading Alicentâs plea and request.
âWhat is it?â Gwayne entered your chambers this very moment but his smile dropped at the sight of your face.
You folded the letter suddenly as if it was a secret or something dirty but it only increased your husbandâs curiosity as he approached the table and raised an eyebrow at you.
âWhat is it?â He repeated the question and you pinched the bridge of your nose, trying to find the right words.
âIt is from your sister,â you replied and looked up to meet his confused gaze. He knew about your friendship and for you to react this way at one of Alicentâs letters was simply unusual.
âIs he dead?â Was all Gwayne asked.
âNo, Gods, no,â you shook your head and took a deep breath in. âNot yet,â you added.
âWhat is it then?â Gwayne lifted your chin up gently to make sure your eyes would still be on his. You swallowed a lump in your throat and finally decided to tell him what his sister had requested.
âQueen Alicent wishes for me to become one of her ladies-in-waiting,â you revealed and Gwayneâs confusion only grew. âShe feels lonely in Kingâs Landing, she needs a friend by her side. Somebody she can trust.â
âIt is out of the question,â Gwayne took the folded paper from your hands and read the letter himself, still standing above you as you nervously fidgeted with your fingers.
Your own feelings were chaotic at that moment. Something in your heart wanted to run to Kingâs Landing at this very moment because Alicent needed you and because you wanted to make her life easier and make her happy. You had always wanted nothing but her happiness.
But you had your own duties in Oldtown and you had your husband here and your children. You could not just leave like that, could you? Especially when Oldtown was so far away from Kingâs Landing.
âIt is out of the question,â Gwayne said again and threw the letter on your desk. âReply to her that your Lord Husband does not agree.â
âShe is your sister,â you looked up at him, pleadingly.
âYes and I have nothing but love for her in my heart but her request is selfish,â he clenched his jaw as he looked you up and down, visibly surprised that you were not agreeing with him on this. âWhy does she want to take you away from me? You are my wife.â
âYour wife â not your property,â you reminded him.
âThat is debatable,â Gwayne huffed and looked away but before you could scold him, he continued with more. âLiving in a different city, different castle, so far away from me⊠Will you still be my wife?â He turned his head around in an attempt to try to read your emotions.
âI will forever be your wife,â you stood up and took his hand into yours before placing it on your chest where your heart was. âBut she needs me, Gwayne. Sheâs all alone there with no one by her side.â
âFather is with her,â Gwayne interrupted you. âHe always favoured Alicent.â
âYou do know that being favoured by him is a burden, not a prize,â you reminded. âPlease, let me go. For some time at least. Until The King dies. It should not be for long and Iâll take the girls with me,â you tried to convince him as your fingers caressed his hand on your chest. âPlease,â you whispered, looking up deep into his eyes.
After a long moment of silence and hesitation, your husband nodded his head reluctantly.
A few months later, you found yourself standing in the courtyard of The Red Keep, awaiting your husbandâs arrival. He had a business to deal with in The Crownlands and he wanted to spend a few days with his family, too. You were caressing the creases on your dress with your hands and your teenage daughter Margaery was fixing her younger sisterâs hairdo. Little Wyllow had been missing her father the most and she couldnât wait for his arrival. In fact, she had made you and Margaery wait there since early morning and at this point you were exhausted already but you didnât complain since you couldnât wait to see Gwayne again either.
Even though it also felt a little weird and awkward since your mind was being flooded with memories of his sisterâs body tangled with yours underneath her royal silk sheets. Her plump lips parted and soft moans escaping them, her beautiful big brown eyes hazy and filled with tears of shame and pleasureâŠ
You were trying to shake those thoughts and images off of your head when you were interrupted by the sound of the horses approaching the gate.
âFather!â Wyllow nearly ran straight under the horse if she was not stopped by Margaery.
Your older daughter gave you a scolding look and she was right to do so because it was your duty to watch over your children, meanwhile you were distracted by the memories of dirty acts instead.
When you watched Gwayne jumping off of the horse, your heart clenched in your chest at the sight of him and you suddenly realised why Alicent was so filled with shame and guilt because now you felt them, too.
His handsome face, his eyes sparkling at the sight of you, his auburn hair reflecting in the sun⊠He truly was the man you loved. You just couldnât help the fact you loved his sister, too.
âFather!â Wyllow finally was free to run into his arms and he crouched down to hug her and kiss her forehead.
âI am so happy to see you, little bird,â Gwayne cupped his daughterâs cheeks and she giggled.
He straightened himself but Wyllow clinged to his left hand so he used his right one to caress Margaeryâs face lovingly.
âYouâre growing fast, my love,â he pointed out.
âI am trying my best, Lord Father,â Margaery nodded her head with a smile and then she took a step back to get out of the way and let him greet you.
âLord Husband,â you gave him a nervous and soft smile. Gwayne tilted his head a little and your heart skipped a beat. He was a very observant man but there was nothing that would give you away, right? What could it be?
âLady Wife,â he smiled at you and took two steps ahead to be able to kiss the palm of your hand. Whatever he had noticed, he pretended it was nothing. At least for now.
âYou must be exhausted,â you pointed out. âThe chambers have been already prepared for you and Iâm going to tell the maids to fix you a bath.â
âDoes it mean we are not sharing the same chambers during my stay here?â Gwayne raised an eyebrow at you.
Margaery cleared her throat and she took Wyllow by her free hand.
âShall we go inside now? Let our Lady Mother greet Lord Father properly,â she dragged her protesting sister behind her.
âShe is becoming a fine Lady,â you chuckled awkwardly. âI canât help feeling that the air and water in Kingâs Landing are making her grow up faster. Perhaps she is spending too much time with women older than her,â you explained, clasping your hands in front of yourself as if you had no idea what to do with them. âCome with me, I am sure you want to greet your father and sister, too.â
âI do,â Gwayne followed you inside while some of the men he had taken with him were taking care of his luggage with the help of The Red Keepâs servants. âYou still havenât answered my question about the chambers,â he pointed out when you were in the staircase together.
âMy darling,â you turned around abruptly, making him stop his walk. âYour chambers are close to mine, please do not get cross with me. Those past few months I have learnt to love my solitude,â you explained and Gwayne tilted his head again but he only nodded.
âLet it be then,â he only said.
With each one of your husbandâs kisses and each one of his touches, each one of your reached peaks and cries of pleasure, you felt more and more purified of sin as if his body was washing away Alicentâs smell off of you. After months of not laying together, you were lost in each other for hours with caring very little about getting any sleep. You were watching the sun rise behind the window when you were too exhausted to go on as you were laying on Gwayneâs chest, drawing circles there with your fingers and his hand was playing with your hair, gently massaging your scalp.
âHave you been faithful to me?â You asked casually and you could feel his muscles tensing under you.
You had no right to ask that â but he did not know of it.
âI have,â he answered. âOf course I have.â
âAnd if I say that the whores count, too?â You looked up playfully.
âI have been faithful to my Lady Wife,â Gwayne shook his head and you spotted a slight irritation on his face. He did not like it when his honour was being questioned â he was a knight, after all. âWhy do you ask? Have you not been faithful to me?â
A shiver went down your spine at his chilling accusation.
âHow can you ask me that?â You gasped.
âYou have accused me first.â
âBecause you are a man,â you reminded him.
âI am. And I know what men are like,â Gwayne nodded his head. âThey must all be following you around â a beautiful Lady far away from her husband is like an invitation,â he finally cracked a smile, revealing that he was only jesting.
âI do not want any man but you,â you assured him as the tension left your body because you did not have to lie about it.
âThat is good to know, my love,â Gwayne kissed the top of your head. âYou had me worried with your cold greeting and not letting me into your chambers.â
âAre you not in my chambers now, Lord Husband?â You teased him and placed a kiss on his chest where his heart was. âAnd if my greeting was cold, then I owe you an apology. I spend too much time around your sister and her husband and I keep forgetting that some marriages are happy. That mine isâŠâ You wanted to look up to meet his gaze but you couldnât as something inside of you was stopping you.
âThat is a shame,â Gwayne only said.
âIt is, darling, but you are here now to remind me.â
You were sitting in the same chambers as Alicent, embroidering side by side and even though you were using no words, you found each otherâs company comforting. Your arms were brushing as you both were focused on creating beautiful patterns on the same piece of fabric to make the work faster. It was supposed to be a beautiful green blanket with embroidered little dragons.Â
Princess Helaena was sitting nearby and embroidering spiders on her own piece of fabric. Her cousin, Lady Margaery Hightower was sitting next to her and teaching her younger sister the craft. It was peaceful, cosy and quiet â you loved those moments the most because it was nearly as if Alicent was your own Lady Wife and you were just enjoying the time spent together with your family, far away from all those loud and obnoxious men surrounding you everywhere. These chambers were your escape and your own queendom.
When the doors opened, everyone except for Helaena looked up with a slight irritation since the man entering this sanctuary was nothing but an intruder. Even if the man was Ser Gwayne Hightower, who was loved by every person inside the chambers.
He cleared his throat when you gave him a soft smile, your arm still brushing Alicentâs and you were sitting in a way that made sure you were facing each other. You had never thought about it before but it was quite intimate indeed. Your husbandâs tilted head made you realise that he had just observed something and after a short while you understood what it was as you moved away slightly.
âBrother,â Alicent greeted him.Â
âLord Husband,â you nodded at him.
âForgive me for interrupting. I would like to take Margaery for a walk around the gardens,â he extended his hand towards his older daughter as Wyllow looked up at him with pleading eyes. âIt must be Margaery alone this time but I promise you, little bird, I am going to take you for a walk later, too. Perhaps weâll walk to the bay and watch the ships,â he assured her and she sighed with relief.
âYou can finish without my help now, I believe,â Margaery handed the fabric to her younger sister. âDo try, at least. If you face any challenges, Lady Mother or Helaena shall help you.â
Helaena looked up when her name was mentioned and she gave Wyllow a soft smile that encouraged her little cousin to keep going. When Margaery stood up and left the sofa, Wyllow moved closer to Helaena and The Princess did not seem to mind.
âCan you help me with the ladybug?â She asked and Helaenaâs face lit up at that.
âLord Father,â Margaery took Gwayne by his arm and bowed her head at you and Alicent before walking out of the chambers with her father.
âI am wondering what is the matter my Lord Husband wishes to discuss with Margaery,â you hummed to yourself.
âShe is ten and five now,â Queen Alicent pointed out. âWhat is the only possible matter that fathers wish to discuss with their daughters at that age?â
You furrowed your brows at her words because she was right and you did not like the sound of that. It was a shame that she was right, too, and not only for your own daughter but for every woman in this Realm.Â
You saw Gwayne again before dinner, on your way to the dining hall. He was walking down the stairs and you rushed to him to walk by his side. He offered you his arm and you took it.
âI have a question for you, Lord Husband,â you started, nearly aggressively and he raised his eyebrows at that fierceness.
âWhat is it, my love?â
âAre you planning to marry our sweet Margaery off so quickly? I do not wish for her to get wed too soon,â you told him, hoping he would understand your point of view because sadly, in the end, the decision was his to make for women had always been properties of men â once her fatherâs, then her husbandâs.
Sometimes you wished you had become a septa.
âNot soon, no. But she is ten and five. That was the age you were in when we met,â Gwayne reminded you with a smile.
âYes, indeed, my darling, but it was us both meeting and falling in love. That is different, you must admit,â you pursed your lips.
âI must, indeed. Do not worry, I am not willing to force anything upon our sweet daughter. I have only told her to start looking around for suitable matches⊠soon,â your husband explained. âI am sure Kingâs Landing is full of important young men.â
âI do not wish for her to get married here. This place is rotten and so are its people,â you sighed. âMy greatest wish is for Margaery to marry a man from The Reach.â
âWe all have wishes, my darling wife,â Gwayneâs answer was nearly mocking but he spotted your annoyance so he looked around to make sure you were not being seen before pulling you by your waist and pushing you against the wall to steal a kiss from your lips. âGods, I missed this,â he whispered and you felt your cheeks heating up.
âGwayne!â You scolded him playfully. âI missed this, too,â you added and caressed his cheek with your fingers.
But his smile dropped and eyes became serious all of the sudden. You stayed like that in a short moment of silence before he dropped the question that turned your guts inside out:
âWhat is the nature of your relationship with my sister?â
You were taken aback by his question and you moved your hand away from his face before taking a deep breath in, trying to steady your heartbeat.
âAlicent is my best friend,â you looked deep into his eyes, surprised by your own courage to lie like thisâŠ
But was it a lie? She was your friend, after all.
âThere is intimacy between you two that I can only wish for between us these days,â Gwayne whispered and you bit on your lower lip.
âShe is my main companion for weeks now,â you tried to explain.
âAre you still planning to come back home after The King dies?â Gwayne lowered his voice even more since talking about the monarchâs death could be seen as treason.
âY-yes, of course,â you nodded nervously.
âWhy the tremble of your voice?â Gwayne raised an eyebrow.
âWhat are you accusing me of?â You suddenly clenched your fists, trying to take another route of getting out of this awkward situation. âYour implications are indecent. You have been accusing me of obscenities ever since you arrived here. You wound me deeply, Lord Husband,â you straightened yourself.
âYou have accused me first,â Gwayne reminded you.
âWithout any reproach thrown at you. I have asked out of simple curiosity,â you informed him.
âYou are right, do forgive me,â he reached for your hand to place a delicate kiss upon the palm of it. You sighed, feeling extremely guilty.
âYou are forgiven,â you whispered, nearly inaudibly, because it felt wrong to be the one saying those words.
In fact, at that very moment, you promised yourself to fix everything. You promised yourself to invite Gwayne to your chambers again for the night and let his touch to purify you like on the previous night. And you would go to The Sept and you would pray the sin away, you would beg for forgiveness, you would be a better wife, perhaps you would beg Alicent to let you go back to Oldtown with your husband.
Yes, that was the plan.
In the early morning you couldnât tell that you were well-rested. Your muscles were sore after the previous two nights and your head was hazy but you still got dressed up quickly when the sun was rising and creeping inside your chambers to shine upon Gwayneâs auburn hair. You leaned in to kiss his forehead and you left him sleeping to visit The Sept and be able to go back to The Red Keep before breakfast.
You had never been a devout but you were not a savage either. You believed in Gods and now more than ever you needed redemption.
You expected to be alone there at such an early hour but no â of course not. Queen Alicent was already there, kneeling by the stone table and lighting the candles. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath in. She was your greatest temptation and it was a cruel joke that the Gods had played on you to put her there at this time when you visited The Sept to pray her very own self away from your life.
Alicent looked up, surprised to see you. Her soft features were as sad as usual but at the sight of you she seemed to be a bit happier â relieved, in a way. Your heart clenched inside your chest. How could you ever want to leave her? You couldnât. She was too dependent on you. Her happiness was and so was her sanity. Leaving her would be equal to killing her.
âI have not expected you in The Sept at such an early hour,â she commented as you kneeled next to her.
âI have not expected myself here either,â you smirked. âI came here to ask for forgiveness.â
âForgiveness? Arenât you always the one telling me that what we do is no sin?â Alicent furrowed her brows.
âI have lied to my husband. That is a sin,â you confessed and Alicent did not say anything to this. âI⊠I will have to go back to Oldtown, I think⊠I canât⊠I canât go on like this,â you looked down and Alicent remained silent but you didnât have to look at her to know her big brown eyes were filled with tears. âI miss my son and I miss Oldtown⊠Kingâs Landing is corrupt and I do not wish for my daughters to grow up here. I⊠I miss Gwayne, too. I love him, I love him, I love himâŠâ
âAre you trying to convince me or yourself?â Sudden, harsh question made you look up to meet her teary gaze.
âIâve been loving him ever since I saw him during the tournament. You were there, sitting by my side,â you reminded her.
âYou love him because he is my brother but your life has always revolved around me,â Alicent pointed out and you felt your cheeks heating up.
âYou⊠You knew?â You only asked.
âI was blind to choose Rhaenyra because she was never for me to reach. She was The Princess and you were equal to me, so devoted. Blindly, very often. I took you for a fool and only after losing you, I realised. When you were sent to Oldtown, I suddenly understood that my only friend had left my side,â Alicent explained. âMy only friend and the only person who has ever⊠Who has ever loved me â except for my mother.â
âGwayne loves you, too,â you pointed out.
âDoes he? He took you away from me,â Alicentâs jaw clenched and your eyes widened. She was not being rational but you knew why â she was scared of losing you again. In fact, she was determined to make you stay by her side.
âYou will not let me leave, will you?â You whispered.
Alicent opened her mouth to say something but then her face softened and she stood up rapidly to walk away.
âI am sorry⊠I do not wish to⊠Act like this⊠I do not recognise myself,â she admitted with her voice full of shame. She raised her hands up to her mouth as she nervously bit on the soft skin around her fingernails.
You didnât answer because you were too lost in your own thoughts. Was she right again? About you loving Gwayne only because he was her brother? You had never thought about it before. It would mean your whole marriage was a lie, an illusion â or rather a delusion.
âWhen Iâm with him, I donât imagine you,â you stood up as well when the realisation hit you. âBut when Iâm with you, he doesnât exist to me. Itâs as if there were two of me.â
âI do not understand,â Alicent shook her head. âTo me, there is only you,â she confessed and laid her eyes on you.
You didnât know what to answer. You swallowed a lump in your throat instead.
âI am flawed, poisonedâŠâ Alicent continued. âI can only feel this way towards other women. I felt this way towards Rhaenyra until a certain moment and then⊠Then my whole life was about you. I have spent hours inside this Sept, trying to pray this away,â Alicentâs silent tears streamed down her cheeks.
âI do not have such a conflict. I can love both men and women,â you told her. âI can love you and I can love GwayneâŠâ
âI do not wish to share you!â Alicent interrupted you and then she hid her face in her hand as she sobbed.
âWomen are not their own property. I am not the one to decide if I can be shared,â you answered diplomatically.
You felt sorry for her but you also felt sorry for Gwayne that he was being betrayed behind his back by his own wife and sister â two women he loved the most except for his daughters. He would die for you both, he would kill to protect you or to defend your honours â even though none of you had an honour anymore. He was the real victim here.
But one more look at Alicentâs sad eyes was enough to break you again. You approached her to cup her face and kiss her softly. She protested in the beginning since you were inside The Sept but you didnât give a fuck about it anymore â you would go to Seven Hells anyway.
âI shall not leave you,â you promised her.
When you came back to your chambers, Gwayne was dressing up in front of the mirror. He raised an eyebrow at you entering the room.
âWhere have you been?â He asked.
âIn The Sept to pray,â you answered truthfully.
âHas my sister turned you into a devout like her already?â He chuckled.
âShe has a great influence on me,â you nodded and walked up to him to kiss his cheek.
âYou even smell like her,â he said and your heart skipped a beat.
âI am fond of her scented oils and she allows me to use them,â you answered.
âIt feels weird when Iâm fucking you, I have to admit,â Gwayne chuckled awkwardly and so did you.
âYou shall fuck me more then,â you pointed out quietly.
âEven more, Lady Wife?â He shook his head with another chuckle.
âUntil her scent is gone,â you explained and looked out of the window.
Gwayne did not say anything to this but his smile disappeared. From the corner of your eye you saw his reflection in the mirror and you realised that he had finally understood what was going on behind his back.
After a while, which felt like forever, he cleared his throat:
âIt is a putrid place indeed.â
âYou must take me far away from here,â you turned around to grab his arm and your heart broke when you felt him flinch a little. âYou must save my soul and take me home,â you pleaded despite the promise you had given to Alicent earlier but that promise had not been given sober. You had been intoxicated with her.
âYou must come back home yourself, my love,â Gwayne smiled sadly at you and caressed your hair gently, âfor I do not wish to force anything upon you. You are always kind enough to remind me that you are not my property, aren't you? And I agree,â he nodded, âthis decision is for you to make.â
And you didnât know what to say or do because there was no decision that felt right and no decision that didnât feel wrong either. Gwayne was your duty and your sacrifice and Alicent was a self-indulgent sin but you loved them both so much that you cursed the whole Hightower bloodline for existing because your life would be so much easier without them.
You knew what Gwayne was expecting of you â he expected you to choose your duty because â just like his sister â he was all about honour and decency. But you didnât want your husband to feel as if you were choosing him only because of your marriage vows â you wanted him to know that you cared for him, too, even though he wouldnât believe you now.
But there was only one choice for you anyway, wasnât it? You couldnât just stay with Alicent and pretend that it was the right thing to do. You couldnât abandon your family and your duties for her and she had to understand it.
You looked deep into Gwayneâs eyes and your own filled with tears at the sight of all the pain and sadness in his. You dropped your hand down from his arm to intertwine your fingers with his.
âI do not think of myself as flawed or poisoned for feeling the way I feel,â you explained to him. âBut I do not wish for my nature to spoil our union. If anybody can save me, it would be you,â you whispered. A plea. A desperate cry for help. âI am a mother, I am a wife, I am Lady Hightower and my home is in Oldtown.â
Your heart, however, would forever be divided; torn and bleeding. The deep, burning hole was forever to stay there for one reason or another.

Dark! Percy Jackson Reverse Harem x Reader|| Chapter Two
<<< Chapter One
Your eyes widen when you see Chiron being half horse half man.
"You are a centaur"
Chiron chuckles at your shocked expression.
"Indeed, I'm, and I'm here to guide you"
"Thank you, sir"
"Are you not going to greet me, (Wrong name)?"
You turn your eyes to stare at the dark haired dark eyes man with confusion.
"My name is (Y/n)" you correct him before asking "And you are?"
"Dionysus"
"As in the god who has a cult?"
"That's me, I miss my cult"
You nod in agreement, unsure if that was meant to be humor or a genuine confession.
"Yes, I used to rule an entire cult in ancient Greece. They all worshipped me and offered me sacrifices."
You feel a twinge of unease at the thought of being in a cult, especially one led by a god like Dionysus.
Still, you don't want to be rude, so you just smile politely and say.
"That's... great."
Dionysus nods, seemingly satisfied with your response.
"Well then," he says,
"Shall we continue on? I can show you around the camp and introduce you to some of the other demigods."
Chiron frowns, looking at Dionysus, finding his behaviour strange.
Dionysus is never friendly towards any demigod.
But now, he is offering to show you around.
Chiron never understood the gods obsession with you.
He assumed it has something to do with your powers.
"There is no need, but thank you for the offer, Luke showed me around the camp"
You say before turning towards the centaur.
"I will be going now if that's all"
The moment you take your leave, Dionysus sighs in disappointment.
"If only she was my daughter"
°°°
The cabin is all pastel pink and surrounded by flowers and cherubs statues, and it is also close to Aphrodite's cabin, which is not surprising.
But what made you uncomfortable is the glass window in your room.
You will need curtains for that later.
What is surprising is that you found tons of gifts on your bed and your wardrobe is filled with clothes.
And a note that says 'From your beloved grandmother. Aphrodite'
Also there are gifts from different deities.
For example, Hermes gave you a golden caduceus pendant with a blue diamond.
Apollo gave you healing potions.
Ares gifted you a dagger and also has a note with it 'Sharp enough to kill your enemies'
But what astonished you the most is the gift from Etos, it's a music box.
A cherubs music box, when you turn it on, it starts playing very enchanting music.
There is a long letter too.
My sweet demigoddess,
I write to you on this fine day to express my deepest love and adulation for you.
Your strength, courage, and power all demonstrate your divine ancestry, and your beauty and grace shine with the warmth of the sun.
My heart aches for you from far away, and all I desire is to embrace you in my arms and to watch you flourish with all that you are and can be.
This music box is a gift from me, once it starts playing, all monsters will flock away from you.
From your father,
Eros.
The strong fragrance on the letter makes you calm down.
To be honest, you don't hate Eros even though he never was by your side when you grew up.
Maybe the new life for you here, isn't bad after all.
°°°
"Capture the flag? As in fighting other demigods? no thank you"
You say, walking by Percy's side.
The boy showed up at your doorsteps first thing in the morning, and asked you to walk with him.
"Don't worry, I will protect you, if you stay by my side"Â
You stop and look at Percy and cross your arms over your chest.
"Why did you tell Luke that I'm your girlfriend?" you inquire.
Percy smiles.
"Because you have always been my girlfriend, remember in grade one where you wanted to marry me and made a promis-"
You quickly stop him, your cheeks heating up from the childhood memories.
"I was a child"
"I don't care, a promise is a promise"
"What if I fall for another?"
Percy shrugs, with the smile still on his face.
"It would be like Icarus flying too close to the sun"
You raise an eyebrow but he continues.
"Another might get close to you but they will never reach you before they fall to their deaths"

Once more the hallucinations hit, and once more I am here writing it out.
My brain is fucking terrifying and I want out, so bad. This came to me in the form of a nightmare.
Also, please donât take the timeline into consideration, because I have no idea whatâs going on. Again, nightmares and dreams tend to not have the best coherency when it comes to plot and timelines. The reincarnation doesnât have a name, I was too busy feeling terrified. Shit in parentheses was how I experienced the nightmare. Everything else is just me adding sprinkle sprinkle.
ââ
Raâs al Ghul.
Talia al Ghul.
Two names that she had been aware of, in the peripherals of her hyper fixation. Two characters meant to enhance the story of the Dark Knight. Side characters, on a good day. Perhaps, a main antagonist on a better day.
On a bad day?
Main characters. Real, living people. Real, living, breathing assassins.
Unfortunately, theyâre her new family. One she remembered coming into, bathed in a pool of blood and screams.
She was not a baby.
She is now, a baby. The first of Talia al Ghulâs children. The eldest, once Damian al Ghul was born.
Swaddled in emerald green and gold silks, she was presented to a man with silver streaked hair and a receding hairline. He too, was robed in green and golds.
âA daughter, Talia?â He rumbled, the smooth Arabic flowing out of his mouth failing to hide the acrid disappointment. The child, past the haze of confusion of suddenly being deported from her own adult body into one of a helpless child, felt a stirring of irritation. Itâs good she learned the language, because now she knew exactly how Raâs felt about her. The child grumbled a displeased sound. Not that she would have ignored the fact that her grandfather was Raâs al Ghul. (He smelled like moth eaten fabric and blood- but I think that was because my cat accidentally scratched me.)
âMy apologies, father.â
âDo not tell the young detective of this. Had it been a son, perhaps things would have been different. No, a daughter would only hinder him.â
Talia bowed, hands tightening on her daughter. âMay I raise her, father?â
âA resource is still a resource. Go ahead, Talia.â
âYes, father.â Talia took the dismissal and bowed before leaving.
On her way back to the room with the reincarnationâs crib, Talia al Ghul stroked her daughterâs head.
âI wish you were born a boy, my daughter. I am sorry my beloved will never know of you.â
The reincarnation looked at her new mother. Sheâs young, the woman-child realized. A teenager.
âYouâll have to be useful, my daughter. Your grandfather is not so kind as to keep the useless. I⊠do not wish for your death,â her mother muttered.
Great. She got new life and itâs already in danger.
ââ
She learned to swing a knife. Swords. She learned and devoured the teachings. She learned to be useful.
But then they asked her to take the life of a man who did her no wrong.
Her baby blues clashed with her grandfatherâs Lazarus green.
She was still young. A child.
âNo.â
âNo?â
âHe did no wrong.â
âHe failed, granddaughter.â Raâs smiled down at her, patronizing. Cruel. âPerhaps you possess your fatherâs heart, and you are foolishly sentimental, as women and children tend to be. But in the end, you are an al Ghul and you will obey. Plunge in your blade and I will reward you.â
The reincarnation looked at the man kneeling in front of her, resignation and a hint of pity in what little she could see of his face.
Sheâs already died before. What did she have to be afraid of?
âNo.â
They tried to beat the weakness out of her. It didnât work.
ââ
The reincarnation stared at the mirror, left alone in an opulent cage of gold and emeralds and precious stones that meant little to her now.
Her hands traced her back, small fingers finding purchase in soft skin. Her mouth opened fruitlessly, noise refusing to escape. She still felt the burning magic, the brand her own blood had carved into her skin and soul because she refused to kill. The chains her grandfather had shackled around her with magic and cruel amusement.
She had killed him, in the end. Obey, or be punished. Her body had moved without her permission, the reincarnation a prisoner in a body that refused to do as she commanded. The knife swung, a life taken, her hands dipped in red.
She learned a valuable lesson that day.
There were things worse than death.
âThis is an order, granddaughter.â
The Magic had flared a searing heat at her neck, forcing her to kneel on broken legs. Raâs loomed above, authority in his voice. She was bound to obey, regardless.
âYou will never speak another word of affection, you will never speak another word to anyone unless I allow it. Perhaps this will teach you of your folly, and your place in this world.â
The loss of her freedom and the fear that came with it was a bitter and devastating lesson.
ââ
Raâs al Ghul was so much worse than what little she knew of him.
She was right to be afraid for herself.
Her mother had worried, when sheâd withdrawn and refused to speak to her. Even if she could, the reincarnation would not have wanted to. The reincarnation had felt furious, back then, when she thought of Talia. Her mother who refused to protect her. Her mother, who claimed she loved her but refused to see the chains Raâs wrapped around her neck. She who plied the reincarnation with a supportive hand but forced her into the fighting pits.
But, as the reincarnation stumbled out on bruised and used legs from Raâs al Ghulâs meeting chambers where he had allowed his business partners to partake in her, she realized that Raâs was a monster in a humanâs body and her mother was a victim of his making.
The lesson Raâs taught her that day was that if she was not useful, if she did not kill, he would take what was left of her and make use of her.
Hate flared in her heart, and the beginning of Raâs downfall began the day he let her go from the chambers alive. Injured, but alive. Injured and violated, but alive and furious.
ââ
She carved her hate and rage and helplessness and fear in the bodies of the people he bid her to kill. Her silenced screams were expressed in the way she splattered blood, the way she covered herself in it. A killing machine first, a stress reliever second, and a child⊠wasnât on the list of things she was allowed to be.
His enemies were felled, one after another. He gave her his approval, something she detested.
But still, she continued, bodies racking upwards, tens turning to hundreds, hundreds edging into thousands.
The red in her ledger became ichor and guilt. Her language became violence and obedience.
âYou have become a sharp tool, granddaughter.â
She was a genius, after all. And now, she could not disobey. A blade that Raâs believed will never point towards him. She kneeled. She obeyed.
âThank you, grandfather.â Her words were only allowed to come out- without searing, terrible pain- when she was thanking him. She tried not to do it as often as he wanted. He thought he broke her when he read the obedience she carved into her body language.
But she never bowed. Never. Not to him. Never.
ââ
âMy weapon could learn much from your granddaughter,â David Cain sat across from Raâs, wine in their stupid goblets. How she detested the green and blacks heâs seen fit to dress her with. Sheâs dressed provocatively, not of her own choice. She doesnât have much of those- doesnât have much in ways of choices- these days.
She was twelve, and Raâs al Ghul deserved to die.
âHer combat is a higher form of what my daughter has achieved. How did you do it?â
When Raâs began to reply, she slipped away.
She found the girl. She found⊠the cage- the black box- the child was placed in. The child flinched from her when she opened the metal box, fear only easing as the reincarnation kept her body language neutral and kind. (It was pitch black, and about the size of like, a closet. No light. Only from whatever door the box had.) (Cassâ hands hurt from banging on the walls to be let out)
David Cainâs daughter, her mind whispered, the memories of another life once more making itself known.
âCassandra.â She whispered, regretting it immediately when pain wracked her body. She fell to her knees as the punishment for disobeying an order slammed into her.
The girl looked at her in concern, but did not move closer. The reincarnation stared at this girl and saw a reflection of herself.
David Cain would be here for a month. She will free Cassandra in those days.
ââ
The weapon stared at the girl in front of her, kneeling in pain.
She did not understand.
-
The girl came back. Water. Food. Kind.
The weapon felt warm. The girl was quiet. No sounds. Good. The weapon knew the girl understood. The weapon thinks that the girl is a weapon too.
-
The girl comes back, again. This time, she makes a sound. It hurt her, but she did it again. The weapon understands when the girl points at herself and repeats the sound. The sound means the girl. The girl expects something from the weapon.
The weapon makes the sound, flinching to see if the owner will come to punish it. The girl purposefully sits, relaxed but vigilant⊠and protective. Of the weapon?
The weapon relaxed. It repeated the sound, pointing at the girl.
The girl smiles, in pain. But approval. The weapon feels- the weapon is warm, like under the blanket. Approval.
The girl teaches her to make sounds but the weapon communicates without it. It does not like the sounds, does not need them, but the girl seems to think itâs important.
The weapon likes the girl, so the weapon learns. They still understand through no sounds, through reading each other.
-
The girl comes back, silently. Secretly. The weapon does not notify the owner. The weapon feels- does not want to.
The girl- the girl with the sound- she says a different sound. Her body tells the weapon that itâs important, this sound.
And when the girl points at herself and says her own sound, then points at the weapon and says that new sound again, the weapon begins to understand.
The girl had given the weapon her own sound.
âCassân- ra.â
âCass,â the girl said, and Cassandra understood.
âCass.â Cassandra pointed to herself.
-
The owner wanted- wanted Cassandra to end a life. Cassandra watched the owner kill and gesture to the dead thing.
Cassandra did not want to.
When Cassandra is placed back into the pitch black box, she waited for the girl.
The girl came.
âDonât want.â Cassandra clung to her, reading the welcome and the sadness in the girlâs body. Cassandra tucked her face into the girlâs shoulder. She is cold. The girl is warm.
The girl hugged her back. The girl understood. Sadness hardened into lines of determination. Cassandra felt⊠light. Felt hope.
-
Cassandra slipped away from the place, water in her pack for the dessert and money to run from the country. The girl stayed behind, seeing her off. The girl tells her to never come back.
Cassandra did not want to leave the girl behind, but the girl could not go.
âBe free, Cass.â The girl had whispered through the pain. âFor the both of us.â
ââ
Her grandfather knew. He allowed David Cain to break her, not kill because she was of use to him still, as a lesson. She found that she hated his lessons. But, she hated his attention more.
And still, she could not regret. How could she, when Cass trusted her with what fragile hope she had?
So, she lets him beat her, and provokes him with smirks and fearless eyes because the longer heâs focused on her, the more time Cass has to run.
Then, he gets too angry, and insults Raâs, whose eyes grew cold. Her grandfather gestured and while she usually hated the command that followed that gesture, she could not feel that hatred now.
She got back up, legs broken and arms twisted once more, and attacked David Cain.
Raâs would not follow Cass. Not when she was not his business to deal with, and not when David Carinâs fury amused him so.
David Cain would not follow Cass. Not while she still drew breath. The reincarnation stood, and threw herself at one of the best assassins of the century.
She tore his throat out with nothing but her teeth. She felt, for once, not like a monster. Not even when Raâs nodded in approval and ordered for David Cainâs broken body to be cleaned up.
ââ
Sheâs been granted a mission in New Jersey, once her months of discipline- of torture- ended. She does not get ordered to find Cassandra. Sheâs fourteen now, and as silent as ever. Her mother had adjusted to her silence by then- long ago, actually, taking it as a quirk her daughter had developed. She hadnât been a terribly vocal child, after all. Talia praised her for being useful even as a woman- the self degradation something the reincarnation had no doubt Raâs had insidiously trained into Talia- and for being loyal to Raâs.
Sometimes, she hates Talia for being- for-
Never mind. She couldnât afford to hate anyone else.
She killed her targets early, determination and wistfulness urging her movements into sharp . Then, she made her way to Gotham and slipped into the city of darkness- where her father was.
She watched as he hid in the shadows almost as easily as she did. She watched as he flew and glided with the younger Robin. (He was younger than her by a year. She checked.) He was free. They were free.
She wishedâŠ
As she turned away, she saw a child tumbling from the edge of a roof. It was an instinct sheâd thought Raâs had managed to bury after the months heâd spent making sure she killed only children.
She hated him.
She caught him, swooping in and tucking him against her side as she plucked him from the air and plopped him back onto the crumbling roof of Gothamâs slums.
âOh, thank you! So much- are you a vigilante?â The boy asked, looking at her masked face. Itâs a good thing she wasnât exactly dressed like a regular League operative.
She shook her head. Her eyes fell onto his camera, faint memories rising once more. She had an inkling-
âIâm- uh- Tim!â The boy introduced himself nervously, edging away from her silence. âThank you for saving meâŠ?â
She nodded. She pointed to the camera, tilting her head.
âOh- you⊠want to see it?â He clutched his camera closer. Oh, he did have some sense of self preservation. She wondered why a seven year old was allowed to roam these streets⊠but she did worse at seven.
She held her hand up and back up. The boy hesitated, and then showed her the camera. âUh- I took pictures of Robin and Batman!â
They sat on that roof for hours, and she let Tim Drake tell her stories about her father and his son. Ward. Son.
She could tell that Tim didnât have anyone to listen to him.
She didnât have long until she had to go back or risk severe punishment, but⊠she could make time for Tim, to listen to him.
She wondered if Cass managed to escape completely. She wondered if her sister all but in name and blood learned how to smile.
ââ
Tim had never had a friend before!
She listened to him! And gave him hugs the one time he was brave enough to ask! And she seemed to like Batman and Robin as much as he did! No one who didnât like them would listen to his endless rambling otherwise, right? (Tim was super skinny, like ribs poking out skinny. He looked like a sickly Victorian child and he was kind of cold)
âAnd then, Robin went like this,â he pantomimed the awesome punch Dick Grayson did on a Joker goon. âAnd the guys got knocked out just like that!â
His new friend nodded, looking interested.
âSorry, am I talking too much?â Tim asked anxiously. He didnât want to make his friend hate him!
She shook her head, and gestured for him to continue.
âAre you sure?â
She nodded.
His new friend was so cool! She even taught him how to throw a punch and to fight!
ââ
When she had to leave, she prepared Tim for it.
âDo you have to go?â
She nodded and placed a hand on his head, ruffling his hair. Her other hand held a duffle bag with an assortment of weapons she carefully kept from him. (One of the blades still had guts on it, which, ew.)
âTry not to fall off anymore roofs, little photographer.â She said, smiling at his shocked look before leaping away.
âWait, you can talk?!â He shouted at her back. She smiled a little wider.
ââ
âA son, this time.â Raâs al Ghulâs voice echoed in his disgustingly flashy throne room. It rings of approval.
The reincarnation stood behind her mother, eyes cast downwards.
âWell done, Talia. I finally have a worthy heir.â
Damian al Ghul cooed.
The reincarnation was scared. But⊠she could not allow her younger brother to be trapped like she was. Sheâs fifteen now, a decade of slavery having worn her down and nearly broken her. But with her brother⊠no, she could not allow it.
She met her motherâs eyes and knew then that they agreed. Protect Damian, at all costs.
She ignored the sting of envy. So what her mother could not find it in herself to protect her daughter? So long as she protected Damian, it didnât matter.
Maybe she didnât matter. Maybe she wasnât worth anything. Maybe- maybe- maybe.
She also ignored the seed of disgust she had for motherâs actions in conceiving Damian. She couldnât do anything about it. Talia was also a victim.
A louder voice in her asked if she could really excuse that, when Talia had a choice and she chose to hurt and violate Bruce Wayne like that. She wondered if she could truly ever forgive Talia. She wondered if Bruce Wayne got therapy.
ââ
She stared at the tome in front of her, eyes blank. (Actually, she had no eyes. Like? Empty sockets, but then later she had eyes???)
The brand- the shackles- the chains could only be broken if Raâs died. She wasnât opposed to that. But if he died, so did she. She couldnât even kill herself to get out, because the chains would be there even if she died. If she was revived- a high chance, thanks to the fucking pits- then the chains would still be there.
Perhaps⊠she could use the pits?
Her mind turned and turned.
ââ
âThis is your ukht.â Her mother pointed at her. Damian stared up at her, and she melted. Her brother was too damn cute.
âUkhti?â
She nodded as her mother smiled in joy. âYes, habibi.â
She was better at hiding the pain, now. She was better at enduring it, too, that fucking burning feeling. She spoke more, but only to Damian.
It would not do for her brother to grow up not knowing how to receive verbal expressions of affection. Not like she did, in this life.
Still, it hurt to speak. But then, she had an idea, based on Cassandra.
She could not speak, but speaking wasnât the only way of communication. Sheâll teach Damian sign language- standard, as commanded- but also her own version. Yes, she could do it. It wouldnât be hard.
She was a genius, after all, and creating languages wasnât as hard as people seem to think.
ââ
Damian copied her, small fingers patting his hand four times.
She did it back to him. âI love you.â She tells him, with sounds and with motions.
He does it back, excitedly, because he had a secret with ukhti!
ââ
Sometimes, she dared not to touch Damian. She wants to ruffle his hair and give him hugs but the ichor on her hands reminds her to not get to greedy. She did not deserve it.
Not when her hands were stained with the lives of so many people.
ââ
Another mission.
She was twenty now, and not much closer to escaping her bonds. Though, once she hit her majority, Raâs lost interest in her in that way. A blessing, even if she had to seduce his âbusiness partnersâ into giving him better deals more often now.
She stops by Bludhaven. The Robin she watched so many years ago- six, by her count- had grown new wings and moved. She wanted to see if he could fly still.
He could. He flew as free- no, freer than his days as Robin.
She dipped away to complete her mission (nuclear weapon trading, really?) and swings back to see a spider trying to break the former Robinâs wings.
âNo.â Nightwing whispered, staring upwards at the cloudy sky blankly. âPlease, stop.â
She didnât need to hear any more. She saw red, and dove feet first straight onto the spiderâs head, knocking her out.
She picked up a near-catatonic Nightwing, and helped him to his apartment. She left Tarantula in the rain and felt zero guilt about it.
He changed mechanically, some kind of instinct keeping him from removing his domino, but it was a bit pointless considering she escorted him to his personal apartment.
She watched as Nightwing slipped into an exhausted sleep before leaving. She had a spider to squish, and traces to hide.
ââ
Dick wakes up, drained and exhausted. He⊠someone saved him.
He sees a scrawled note, handwriting impeccable enough to be a font, written with his pen. He picked it up from his table, and his eyes tiredly read the message.
âDonât worry about Tarantula. Or your identity.â- A friend.
He remembered- the mask- the mask of the stranger that saved him vividly. Heâd remember. And heâd thank them if they ever came back.
ââ
She was in charge of training assassins, these days. A year and a half later after Bludhaven, she was back in Nanda Parbat, and sheâs devoured every magical tome she could get her hands on. They all say the same things.
Her assassins were trained well, and Raâs praises her with more responsibilities as he followed the pit in his obsessions. Her mother began to splinter the group, not knowing that as Raâs began his descent into madness, people looked towards her instead of Talia for leadership. They did not know that her unwavering presence by Raâs side wasnât voluntary but it is their true that she became his right hand out of pure skill. And flawless obedience, of course.
Then, someone new joins.
Someone with pit rage and empty eyes that goes rigid when she approaches.
Then again, most of the operatives freeze up when she walks towards them.
Her memories roar. A child.
He bowed, and her eyes followed the streak of white hair at the forefront of his skull.
She gestured at him to follow, and ignored the pitiful eyes the rest of the assassins gave to the kid- they act like her training was hard when she went easy on them (it was)- and led the kid towards the training rooms.
She knew who he was, even if her grandfather and mother didnât think she knew.
Her⊠Bruce Wayne would probably appreciate his son being returned relatively sane.
But first, she had to beat the Pit out of him. Then, she could assign body guarding duties to him, in an attempt to protect him.
ââ
âGrandfather, I will take Damianâs punishment.â
âA whipping girl, granddaughter?â But he nodded anyways. He made Damian watch.
She kneeled and allowed the punishment. She couldnât always protect him from Raâs, but this she could do anytime. Itâs not like she was unfamiliar with the torture. (The whip had barbs. Rusty. And they sprinkled salt.)
ââ
âI liked poetryâŠ.â Jason Todd tells her after a training session. âI think.â
âSure. Iâll call you Grave, then.â Pain. But she was used to it.
He tilted his head, eyes going blank once more. She sighed. There went his memories again. (His eyes were blank and glazed. Like looking at someone you love and knowing theyâre looking through you.)
ââ
âI would not trust her,â she says to the air, next to a Red Hood emerging from Talia al Ghulâs chambers. She could see it, the beginnings of Gothamâs new crime lord. But still, âTalia al Ghul is known for her lies.â
She pushed away from the wall. It was up to Grave if he listened. It was out of her hands now.
ââ
Sheâs twenty-five, and sheâs helping Damian pack for his first meeting with Bruce Wayne.
âYou must not tell him about me.â Because heâd come rushing here, and she had worked too hard to save Damian for her fool of a father to come and ruin all of that effort.
âI promise.â Her little brother said solemnly. Ukhti said it out loud, which meant it was important and she expected him to keep that promise.
The only other time heâd heard her speak was to tell him she loved him.
The reincarnation smiled and told him through their special sign language, to treat the current Robin with respect and to try his best to get the current Robin to pass down his title.
âRobin is earned. They have different rules, over there. Try your best to learn those rules.â
Her brother was sheltered. She loved him, but he was spoilt and sheltered. Of course she was worried. Talia barely mothered him.
âI know. You do not have to remind me so often, ukhti.â
She smiled, and patted his head.
âBe safe,â she whispered. âI will miss you.â
Damian darted in for a hug. âOf course. Goodbye, sister. See you soon.â
She hoped not. It was hard enough to convince Raâs that Damian would learn more under Bruce Wayne.
(She was locked in a small closet- like Cass- for about a week, because she brought up the idea first.)
ââ
She found it.
The answer to pit rage laid in an old, all but crumbling tome from Atlantis- answers âfrom a ghost.â
ââ
Bruce Wayne died. Months after Damian came to live with him. That- irritating- she sighed and worked with her mother to turn Raâs al Ghulâs attention away from Gotham, lest he called Damian back in Bruce Wayneâs absence.
The little photographer caught grandfatherâs attention. She stood vigil as he played chess with Raâs. His interest in Damian wavered. Anticipation blurred in her veins.
She saved his friends. Her assassins. She let them go, telling them to wait for the little photographerâs plan. (Yâall miss girl had fucking bloody handprints on her pants like someone tried to grab it.)
The first few people who had an inking she might not be loyal to Raâs⊠and it was them.
When her other assassins attacked Red Robin, she cut them down before they could touch him, helping him with a furious League of Spiders or whatever operative. She hated spiders.
âWhatâŠ?â
âYouâre a lot of trouble, little photographer.â She sighed. His jaw dropped.
âItâs you!â
âGo,â she cut him off. âBlow this place up. I left a surprise for you outside.â
ââ
âOwens?! Z?!â Tim trembled, exhaustion and shock and wonder hitting him at once.
âHeya, boss!â Z chirped. Owens helped Tim up while Z helped Tam. Pry walked around them, looking out for further threats. âThe nightmare trainer let us go. She knew you, I think.â
Tim smiles, all shark teeth and zero hero. (In the background, the song zero to hero from Hercules 2, played in reverse.) âTell me more.â
ââ
Damian grunted, bracing himself for the magical creatureâs attack.
âRobin!â His father barked out, panicked. Damian hoped heâd survive-
Shhhlk!
He looked up and there stood his ukht. She bounded forwards, using the odd fauna of the magical plane to bolster her movements as she sliced the creatures apart with her swords, magic humming brightly as she cut through them⊠and the magicians attacking them.
âWhat- what are you doing here?â He asked. She greeted him, three fingers curled over her shoulder.
âMy question is,â she signed. âWhy were you here without a magical weapon.â
Damian sighed as father stepped in between them.
âWho are you.â
âBatman. Cease your excessive worry. I trust her with my life,â Damian snapped. He stepped around a shocked Batman, looked him in the eyes, and unsheathed his katana. He handed it over to his ukht, who took it with amusement.
âSee?â His eyes seemed to say. Father tensed when his sister unsheathed her own blade and handed it to him.
âAre you here for a specific reason?â His sister signed to him.
âUh, you gonna introduce us, little man?â
Damian sent the Flash a derisive look and ignored him.
âWeâre looking for a magician. He set a squadron of demons loose into D.C. last night. He has a tower.â Damian added.
âRobin,â Father growled. âWho is this.â Damian shot him a look and turned back to his sister.
The reincarnation tilted her head. âTower⊠itâll have to be that way.â
âCould you take us there?â Damian asked. Truthfully, he could find the way himself. But he wanted more time around his ukht. She nodded and Damian straightened.
âI feel like we should be concerned that Robinâs friend just murdered a bunch of people.â
His sister glanced back and ignored them.
âSilence, incompetents. Speak another word against her, and Batmanâs no killing rule will be applied creatively.â He hissed. (The fucking surroundings hissed with him yâall what the fuck)
He turned when his sister ruffled his hair (Superman muttered a super shocked âwhat the fuck.â) and Damian allowed it. He had missed his sister.

If Reader is a spider hero like Spiderman, were we bitten by a genetically altered radioactive spider? How did we get in that situation?
Did our dad take us with him on a job, before he had his voice cut out, and we got bitten by a project the villain was making? Did our dad sell us to get cash and we were a human experiment that escaped or was thought to have failed? Did we stumble into a situation where this happened? I'm so curious! (And the flash backs could be great filler.)
On another note, our Spidey Sense only works when we're in danger, right? But it didn't detect Dick and the bucket. Does that mean he had no real intention to hurt us? Only wanted us to go off the wall and hurt him? It'd be interesting if our unease with the Bat Fam is just our Spidey Sense going off. Which would mean we'd feel a spike in our sense when they try to capture us. Probably immediately after telling them we're leaving/quitting, if we do.
On another note, I'm just thinking about what would happen if we got exposed to spider pheromones and turned into a giant arachnid? We aren't destroying buildings or anything. Just trying to hide. I'm just imagining the Bat Fam and the reactions. Maybe it was a new ingredient of Fear Gas? Maybe a new big bad that was trying to mind control spiders?
Either way, it follows canon Spiderman comics. Where he was turned into a spider, the villain found out he was 'pregnant', his spider form dies, and his human body rips out of the corpse. Poor Bat Fam questioning how to turn Aranea back into a human while trying to catch her and calm her down. Finding out she's 'pregnant' and questioning if she even knew by that point. The devastation of her dying, curling in on herself and not moving. Then, hours later, the body ripping apart from the inside out to reveal a human body, face obscured from the cameras by hair and mucus, who escapes before the family come back.
Hi! Oh my god it's been a while!!
The backstory will definitely be a filler/separate chapter from the main story, but until that comes out I will say that Reader has had these powers for years now and had been quite young when the incident happened. This also ties in with the whole Spidey Senses situation, I like to think the Reader is so used to the senses warning of danger that it's just like a gut feeling people get normally (obviously intensified). Dick definitely didn't mean to harm Reader and wasn't trying to be a threat so even though there was some unease it wasn't enough to enact fight or flight.
~
As for the second part of the ask. I might make a separate mini story for it!! That definitely seems fun to write but the main things I think would happen would be:
- Batfam freaking out and trying to look for Aranea
- one of the members finding your new form
- a whole freakout ensues
- Damian believes you are now the new Man-Bat
- You, obviously, runs off and is quickly chased down by Batman and Red Hood (the others are either frozen from shock, in the cave or trying to convince Damian that just because Aranea is a proper spider doesn't mean they're now against them)
- they capture you and take you to the batcave, most would be pretty happy to finally have a reason for you to be here.
- They run tests on you before finding out you're pregnant
- Immediately they freak out once more and you take the moment to run and escape the cave.
- You run into Crime Alley and hide out there for a bit before "dying"
- the family finds you, mourns you, and is about to take you and bury you when Jason snaps and runs off with Damian to kill the villain. The rest of the family follows to try and stop them (Steph actually doesn't care whether the villain dies or not, she just wants to watch it go down)
- When they return you've already gotten out and run off. They don't realize this - thinking it was just an animal or something that caused the hole and such.
- Barbara, Batman and Tim proceed to have a heart attack when they see your comm online and see you in person a couple nights later.
~
I hope that makes a bit of sense!! I love long asks so so much and I'm sorry I've been gone for so long đ

The soft melody of an alarm broke through the darkness of the bedroom Sebastian and you shared around one-thirty in the morning, interrupting the couple's deep sleep. Sebastian, still startled by the noise, managed to quickly stretch his arm to turn off the alarm in an attempt to fully wake up. Meanwhile, you rubbed your eyes, fighting against the tiredness.
"Is it already time to get up, sunshine?" you asked sleepily.
"Yes, darling, it's time," Seb nodded as he sat up in bed. "If we want to get to Monaco on time and avoid Charles from killing us. We should leave in about an hour and a half."
You yawned, curling up under the blankets.
"But it's too early, love⊠Don't you think we could, and should, sleep a little longer?"
Sebastian approached you and gently stroked your hair. He was aware that the fourth pregnancy was being a bit challenging for you compared to the previous three, despite being only in the second month.
If fatigue, nausea and dizziness were making life difficult for you at the moment, he didn't want to imagine how you would feel four months from now.
"Y/N, sweetheart, don't worry. Let me be in charge of waking up the kids and getting everything ready. You stay here and rest a little longer, okay? I promise I'll let you know when everything is ready so you only have to get in the car."
You looked at him with a tired but grateful expression. Still, you knew you had to help prepare the final details of the trip, and most importantly, make sure the kids were perfectly ready..
"Are you sure? I don't want you to take on all the work, really," you expressed with concern in your voice. "Even though I'm tired, I can help you..."
"I'm absolutely sure, darling," the man interrupted, smiling and giving you a warm kiss on the forehead. "These are the kinds of things I retired for, so focus on going back to sleep, alright? I'll see you in a bit, liebe."
"SebastianâŠ" you spoke again. "I'm really serious: we're in this together, and I don't want you to handle everything alone. It's a family trip, not a trip of Seb with his three kids. I want to help."
He admired your determination, but he wanted you to be treated as you deserved.
"I know, Y/N," he explained, "but I also know how tired you are. Really, allow yourself not to worry about your kids for once. I promise I'll wake you up soon enough so you can get ready."
You nodded, trying to avoid continuing the conversation and settling back into bed, closing your eyes and trying to sleep without thinking about how long your husband might take to prepare your kids.
Meanwhile, Sebastian left the room with determination and headed towards the children's rooms. Emily, Charlotte and Matilda slept all in different rooms, so he went from door to door, opening them gently and affectionately, and then approaching each bed.
He first woke up Charlotte, the middle one, who rubbed her eyes and looked at her father, confused.
"Dad, what's going on?" she asked, puzzled. "Did you have a nightmare and want to sleep with me? Or is mom having the baby?"
"No, no," Sebastian chuckled at his seven-year-old daughter's antics. "It's time to wake up. Remember we're going to Monaco today."
The little girl's eyes lit up immediately.
"Yes, that's right! We're going to your old workplace!"
After letting her fully wake up, the head of the family went to the room of the youngest, Matilda, who was four years old.
"Matilda, wake up, honey," whispered Vettel, giving her a gentle tap on her shoulder. "We have an exciting day ahead. We're going to see those fast cars daddy used to drive."
The youngest Vettel lazily stretched in his small bed and yawned. Sebastian then smiled, picking her up while she just wanted to hug Seb.Â
"That's what I like to see, little one," he commented, tousling her hair. "Let me dress you so mom doesn't have to worry too much, okay?"
Both the children and Sebastian hurried to get ready. There was no doubt that, despite the sleepiness, the family was full of energy and excitement for what awaited them in the country about seven hours from their residence.
After also waking up Emily, your eldest, and making sure all of them were ready, Seb put cartoons on the living room TV to keep the children entertained and returned to his room, where you were still resting, seemingly peacefully asleep.
"Honey, the kids are ready. They're waiting for us in the living room. Are you feeling better?" he whispered as softly as he could, gently stroking your arm.
You opened her eyes and sat up in bed, stretching aggressively. âThank you so much for getting our little devils ready, I owe you one."
He tenderly kissed you on the lips.
"You don't owe me anything, you did enough effort to bring them into the world and act as both father and mother when I wasn't around. Let me help you get ready, we have a great day ahead."
Quickly, Seb helped you change you clothes, gently touching your small but already slightly prominent pregnant belly. Once you were finally dressed in sportswear for comfort, you both walked hand in hand out of the room and headed to the living room, where your children were already waiting impatiently.
After making sure everything was ready and the kids had no further needs, you all headed to the garage, quickly getting into the family car. While Sebastian made sure the suitcases fit perfectly in the trunk, you took care of buckling the children up and offering them a few games or movies to keep them entertained on the way, although you were quite aware they would end up asleep.
"Are you all ready?" you inquired, turning around from the passenger seat and looking at her children with a smile as Seb began to start the car.
"Yes, mommy, let's go!" exclaimed little Matilda, who received cheers from her sisters.
With the car's engine purring softly, they set off on the Swiss roads amidst the darkness of the night, which, despite being synonymous with tiredness, brought a surge of energy to the youngest members of the family, where conversations and plans for Monaco came to the forefront.
"Do you think grandpa Norbert is going to come, Dad? I heard you talking to him the other day," exclaimed Charlotte, once again showing her admiration for Sebastian's sister. "Is grandma Heike coming too?"
"I want to hear the loud noises of the cars and see how fast they go," Emily added immediately, excited.
Sebastian smiled as he drove, very happy to hear the excitement of his children and, especially, to be sharing such an experience with you all not only after his retirement.
As the hours went by, tiredness arrived, and the children fell asleep. Quite the opposite happened with you: you woke up when you no longer heard the sudden conversations between the siblings. As you progressed along the winding roads and approached Monegasque territory, the sky began to lighten, giving them a beautiful sunrise.
"Look, honey, the sun is rising," you commented to Seb, pointing to the horizon stained with warm colors. "I can't believe we're finally arriving in Monaco after weeks of waiting..."
After a couple more hours of driving, and lively conversation among the family resulting from a brief stop for breakfast and in your case, vomiting a couple of times, you arrived in Monaco. The city looked completely different from any other time of the year as the streets were adorned with flags and banners for the Grand Prix. Furthermore, the grandstands, the paddock, and the countless yachts docked in the harbor made Monte Carlo seem even richer than it already was.
"We're here, guys," Sebastian announced to his children sweetly. "If you need something, just make sure to tell me, alright?â
Seb parked the Mercedes in a parking lot reserved for VIP guests, and then got out of the car to help you. He made then a phone call, possibly to Leclerc, your kids began to stroke your belly. You reacted early and quickly moved them away, aware that journalists and paparazzi could discover the secret.
"Let's follow dad, guys," you whispered to them, getting down to their level. "And remember: no one, not Uncle Charles or anyone who asks you, can know that dad and I have made a little baby, okay?"
The children nodded in response to your question, which somewhat reassured you were still nervous. However, the excitement began to set in as you walked alongside your kids, following Seb towards the place where the free practice sessions would take place, partially pushing aside your worries. The sound of the engines grew louder with each step you took, with the youngest of the family covering her ears with his little hands.
"Look, mommy: there's the Ferrari team!" exclaimed Emily pointing towards the red team's garage.
Charles appeared in his racing suit, as Free Practice was set to begin in just thirty minutes.
As soon as he spotted your husband, who was slightly ahead of all of you, he raised his arms in the air with great joy at seeing him again on the circuits, a wide smile adorning his face.
"Charles!" exclaimed Seb when he finally reached the Monegasque, giving him a strong hug. "Thank you so much for inviting us. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. The kids are very excited to be here, and especially to see you."
Leclerc returned the hug to the German, reminiscing about the two years they were teammates.
"You don't have to thank me, Seb," replied the Ferrari driver. "I'm sure Emily and Charlie remember something, but I know it's all new for Matilda. Anyway, I'm sure they'll enjoy it like the first time, just like Y/N!"
As the conversation continued between the two men, you and the kids surrounded the Ferrari driver, who felt a bit shy seeing the children's excited faces.
"Thank you, Charles," you expressed with your little ones embracing you somewhat shyly. "We're very grateful that you made it possible for us to come," you leaned closer to the Monegasque and whispered: "and don't tell anyone, but despite Ferrari's shitty strategies, you're doing great."
After a few minutes of conversation catching up on your respective live, and where Seb almost revealed you were expecting your fourth child, Charlotte, Emily and Matilda crowded around Charles, excited to see their father's former teammate again. Despite the constant denials from the team engineers, he managed to let your kids have a close look at his car.
"Look," said Charles, excitedly, pointing to the vehicle, "this is the car I'll be practicing with today, and that's my teammate's, Carlos," he pointed to the car beside it. "What do you think?"
The children's eyes widened with passion as they began to examine the car closely.
"Can we touch it, Uncle Charles?" asked the four-year-old, grabbing Leclerc's race suit pants.
Charles smiled, nodding enthusiastically, inwardly melting at the scene he was witnessing. He wished he could see himself like that with Olivia in a few years.
"Of course, but do it quickly so you father doesnât get fined again," he said jokingly.
While the kids explored the car, and after you joined them shortly after, Charles and Seb began to converse animatedly yet seriously about the expectations for the Grand Prix and the sensations he had so far in the 2024 Formula 1 season.
The sudden hustle in the Ferrari garage made it clear that Free Practice 1 was about to begin. Sebastian and Charles had their conversation interrupted when Leclerc's beloved engineer insisted he get into the car as soon as possible. It was finally time for you to head to the corresponding grandstand to enjoy the practice session.
The Monegasque was forced, much to his regret, to interrupt his conversation with the your husband. Seb, however, understood, and immediately turned to you all, who were eagerly waiting to go to the best spot to watch the cars go around.
"Come with me, kids," notedhim, "it's time to go up to the VIP grandstand to get a better view of the session."
Taking Matilda in his arms, holding his daughters' hands with his free hand, and with you on his left, you all formed a little chain to avoid getting lost in the commotion on you way to the designated spot.
You were moved by the scene you were witnessing. Holding onto Seb's free arm, you tried to control your tears as your followed your husband's lead.
Minutes later, you had found your reserved seats, but numerous fans who had recognized Seb had delayed him. You were used to this, as were your kids. Moreover, none of your minded as they were aware that Seb had done great things for and in the world of motorsport.
âLook dad!â, exclaimed Emily excitedly as her father sat down next to her, âThat's Charles! He's going really fast!â
"Yes, he's going fast indeed, Emily," Seb answered, still in shock at what he was witnessing after many time.
As the practice hour progressed, you captured some moments of the family with your camera, all of them fully caught up in the energy emanating from the circuit at that moment. The applause and words of encouragement, though impossible to hear for the drivers, were felt as the local hero made his appearance on the track.
When it came to an end, faster than they thought, you all made your way back to the Ferrari garage, where Charles had promised to meet his former teammate after the session.
Once there, you saw the blue-eyed with his girlfriend, Alexandra, engaged in lively conversation, likely about what had happened on the track during the previous hour. Charles, upon seeing Sebastian with you at the garage door, hurried over as fast as he could.
"Seb, I thought you'd be gone!" he exclaimed excitedly. "I didn't get to see you: you know, speed problems," he laughed at his own bad joke, "but I'm sure you had a good time, and your amazing wife and kids did too, right?"
Matilda and Charlotte shouted in unison. You and Emily nodded quickly.
"I'm really impressed, Charles," Vettel said enthusiastically. "Apart from the track being in wonderful condition, the weather cooperating, and not having too many idiots running around today, your performance has been incredible."
Alex joined the conversation, greeting your and the kids first, and then Seb.
"It's been wonderful seeing you in the stands. I wish I didn't have to stay locked up in the garage all day, but there are these crazy Charles fangirls out there..." she joked.
You laughed at the comment. If she only knew all that you had to go through in the early years of your relationship with SebâŠ
"AnywaysâŠ" Leclerc began, placing his arm around his girlfriend's waist. "Alex and I have been talking these past few days and we'd like to ask you if you'd like to join us for dinner tonight. It would be nice for us to spend some time together, just relaxing, and celebrate that you've finally come back around here," he explained, looking directly at your husband.
"But really, if it's any inconvenience for you," she hurried to add, "or if you need to head back home or..."
Sebastian looked at you, who nodded excitedly at the proposal.
"It would be an honor, Charles."
After exchanging details for the dinner, they bid farewell momentarily due to Leclerc's press commitments. During that time, you returned to the hotel where you would stay for a couple of days to freshen up and prepare for dinner, as managing three children wasn't an easy or simple task.
When you met again, this time at the restaurant, you were warmly welcomed by its members. Dinner unfolded amid laughter and lively conversations, mostly revolving around Formula 1 anecdotes and your private lives.
As the night progressed, Seb and Charles delved into deeper topics about the world that absorbed so much of their lives. Alex and you, on the other hand, got to know each other more and realized they had more in common than you initially thought.
The children, meanwhile, were having the time of their lives: Charlie, Emily, and Matilda, who fell asleep early, spent the night playing games with the young couple, who still seemed like kids in your eyes.
"I hope you've enjoyed the day, guys," Charles said, raising his glass of wine. "I hope we can enjoy many more moments together, especially when the little one comes because, Y/N, I know thereâs a reason why youâre not drinking alcohol when you like wine so much."
"Cheers!" you all exclaimed while you tried not to get nervous and more shy than you actually were, laughing at the revealed secret.Â
As you continued to enjoy the delicious food, along with the laughter and entertaining stories, you knew that trip to Monaco would become a cherished memory in the years to come. There was no doubt you should definitely do this more often and, above all, around the world if given the chance, something you had been waiting for years.

When You Touch Me - Wolverine x male reader x Deadpool 3/?
I love writing this so much, it's not going to be a quick thing for sure. I'm thinking and plotting constantly. (AO3) (Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8)
Warnings/tags: male reader, canon-typical violence, enemies to friends to lovers, eventual smut, slow burn, stiches
Wordcount: 2675
Summary: Youâve heard many stories about how people met their soulmates. Everyone crazier than the last, ranging from typical meet cutes, meeting with one of them at death's door, in war, meeting at your soulmate's wedding to another, and everything in between and outside of that. You had just never expected to add yours to the crazy list, meeting yours in a fight, only realizing after trying to kill each other for at least half an hour. And you certainly donât expect to have another.
Silence fills the apartment.
For a few moments.
âRed, I am going to kill you.â
âWade, I am going to stab you.â Both of you talk at the same time, then glare at the other. You notice that his eyes are a nice shade of hazel, before your gaze snaps to Wade as he speaks.
âWhy am I getting the heat for this?!âÂ
âYou ran.â You and Flannel say in unison, glaring at each other again. His hand is still on your neck, warm and solid.
He raises an eyebrow as you reach for your pants, you grab one of your knives out of its hidden sheath, stabbing his shoulder. He grunts with pain, hand clutching at your neck for a moment before pulling it away. You pull your knife back out, before putting it parallel between two of Flannelâs claws, twisting it hard as you can, somewhat pushing his claws further apart. He winches, and the claws retract, allowing you to quickly slide away, and then take a few steps back. You notice there is no trace of where they came from on his knuckles, so this guy must have some sort of healing factor too.Â
Fucking great.
âWhy are you armed if you came here to meet your soulmate?â He scowls at you.
âLike you can talk, Mr Knuckle Claws.â He growls, fucking growls, and you would mock the absurdity of it, but his claws are coming back out.Â
You grab your second knife, spinning them once in your hand, steeling yourself. Flannel lurches forward, one set claws aimed for your throat. You deflect them, your arm almost vibrates with the effort it takes to stop the swinging momentum, but you donât have time to reflect on it, his other set of claws coming for your left arm. You stop these too, but you donât have to stop a third or fourth swipe, as Wade drags Flannel backwards by the shoulders, making the man stumble and almost fall.
âNu uh! No murdering of our soulmate peanut, they donât have a healing factor!â Flannel huffs, glaring at you again, but his claws retract.Â
You want to stab him.Â
You are pretty sure the feeling is mutual.Â
Irritation coming across the bond, if somewhat muted. You also want to stab Wade, because fuck him, you could fight Mr Scowl on your own merit. You donât sheat your knives yet, staring at them both, hand clenched tight around the handles. Flannel scowls at you.
âGonna put those away bub?â
âTrying to figure out if I can get to both of your hearts from here.â Flannel snorts.
âFor me it takes at least some candles and a nice dinner with gifts, then itâs all yours.â Wade winks at you, you feel your eye twitch in irritation.
Flannel sniffs the air suddenly, nose wrinkling.
âWhy do I smell blood?â
âWhat?â You look down at your chest, suddenly realizing there are wet spots forming on your dark shirt. âShit.â You pull the collar away from your skin, looking down and seeing blood trickle slowly from the gauze on your chest.
âGreat, popped a fucking stitch. Thank you asshole. Now Evelyn is gonna tear me a new one.â
âAw pookie, cheating on as already? Tell me, what is she, a nurse that found you on her doorstep and took care of you, and now you make sweet, sweet love like in so many fanfictions?â
âDonât call me that, and no, you fucking moron, sheâs a veterinarian, a friend, and we are both gay in the wrong direction for whatever the fuck kind of fantasy you have in that scarred brain of yours.â You put your knives back in their sheats hidden under your pants, ignoring how two sets of eyes follow the motion.
âI hope you guys got a first aid kit around here somewhere. I assume that the old lady and whoever else you guys have over arenât all super healers.â Wade and Flannel look at each other.
âIâll see if I can find anything between Alâs coke in the bedroom.â Wade walks off, leaving you and Flannel alone in the room. Itâs not long, maybe a minute, but it lets you feel the confusion coming through your bond from him, and a swirl of other emotions that are hard to identify through the still very fresh bond.
You wonder what he feels from you, as neither of you say anything, just watching the other. A shot of guilt comes through your bond, which makes you scowl at him.
âDonât you fucking dare.â
âWhat?â
âPretend like you care.â
âYouâre our s-â
âSay it and will stab you. I know you probably canât die, but I will give my best damn try.â He scowls, again, but doesnât say anything. Wade comes back then, a little red and solid bag with a white plus sign on in one hand. You reach out to take it, but Wade pulls it out of reach for you.
âGive me the damn med kit Wade.â
âNah ah, better for me to do it, promise Iâll be gentle, done it before.âÂ
âNo, Wade.â He sighs, a second later thereâs a gun aimed at you. Where the fuck that even came from, you donât know. You wouldnât be surprised if Wade was armed before you even came here though.
âYou just stopped Flannel from attacking me, now you are aiming a gun at me?â You tilt your head, and Wade shrugs. Flannel seems frozen, eyes flicking between the two of you, arms tense at his side again.
âHis name is Logan, and he would not have made it non-lethal, but I will.â Heâs serious, you can tell by the flat tone in his voice, the most level and even it has ever been in the times you have heard him speak. You look into his eyes, a lovely shade of brown that is filled with stony seriousness.
Getting shot would fucking suck.
It would hurt.
It would take forever to heal.
It would make you weak for a good while.
You sigh, rubbing your face, opting for the lesser of two evils.Â
You think.
Youâre tired.
âFine.â The gun is moved away, safety clicked on, and tucked into the waistband of Wadeâs pants. He takes a few steps away from you, picking up takeaway boxes (that you hadnât noticed, but to be fair all your attention had been on the other two men) off the dining room table, handing them off to Logan, who takes them to the kitchen. Wade pats the table.
âUp you go pumpkin.â You roll your eyes, too tired and annoyed at your bleeding wounds to tell him to not call you that. You donât think he will stop. You sit on the table, taking your jacket and shirt off, dumping them on the floor before laying back. Wade whistles, dropping the med kit next to your shoulder as you glare at him.
âNasty.âÂ
âYour fucking handiwork.â You tilt your head to look at Logan where he leans in the doorway to the kitchen. âAnd yours, since Iâm bleeding again.â He grimaces, opening his mouth as if to say something, but then closes it. A hand brushes against the gauze covering your stomach wound.
âGonna take this off now.â Wadeâs voice is soft, you give him a weird look, but heâs not looking at you, but instead heâs looking at his hand where it lays gently on top of the gauze.
âYeah, yeah, just get it over with.â
âHey, consent is sexy.â
âThis isnât-â You stop yourself, grimacing at the feeling of gauze lifting off your blood soaked skin. The wound drips more freely now, blood trickling down onto the table. A blue towel appears next to Wade, Logan is quiet on his feet, you hadnât even noticed he went anywhere. Wade takes the towel, cleaning up the blood as best he can. The towel is soft against your skin, you watch him for a few seconds before moving your focus to the ceiling.Â
Wade leaves the towel on your stomach, gently prodding at the wound. You grimace, the feeling unpleasant.
âThis isnât too bad, you only need two new stitches, pookie.â
âGet on with it then.â You hear the flicker of a lighter, glancing down to see Wade hovering a needle in and out of the flame. You know itâs not going to be as well done as Evelynâs, but you donât want to go back there and get an earful.Â
Or more likely, yelled at until your whole body feels like it is on fire.
Eyes back to the ceiling, you take a deep breath as you feel Wadeâs fingers press just beneath the wound. Then thereâs some sort of black cloth, a small towel you are guessing, hovering over your face. You tilt your head to look at Logan, who offers it up with a little shake and a raised brow. You nod, opening your mouth, letting him drop it so you can bite down on it just as the needle pierces your skin.
Itâs not a pleasant sensation, so you bite down on the towel, forcing yourself to take measured and deep breaths as you stare at the ceiling, concentrating on a little damp spot you can see in one corner.
What a charming space.
âYou know, next time you are shirtless, I hope you are going to be bleeding less.â Wade puts the needle aside, wiping his hand on the towel on your stomach. Next he digs around in the medkit again, taking out supplies to cover his (and Evelynâs) handiwork. You ignore his comment, closing your eyes and just breathing.
You stay like that as he finishes up, and moves onto your chest wound. Once again, the blood soaked material doesnât feel great coming off, and neither does Wadeâs prodding fingers.
âTwo again. Beginning to think thatâs your lucky number sweetcheeks.â You groan, moving your arm to smack him, hitting a solid thigh. Wade laughs, and itâs such a bizarre situation, you can feel it through your bond, so it takes actual effort to not smile under the towel in your mouth.Â
âAlright, alright, Iâll get on with it.â He keeps babbling some more, you tune him out, letting him be background noise as you breathe deeply through your nose as the needle pierces skin again. You flex your fingers and grind your teeth on the towel, willing yourself to stay still to not fuck up Wadeâs stitches.
âThere we go, all done! Well, almost, I still need to cover my beautiful handiwork, which is a damn shame.â You are not sure if heâs talking about the wound or the stitches, but you donât care. As he covers it in gauze once more, you take the towel out of your mouth, licking your lips. The towel had soaked up a good deal of moisture from your mouth, so it takes more than a few moments for your mouth to feel normal again. By the time that happens, Wade is done, leaning away from you, gathering up trash, wet towels, and the needle. He takes it away, leaving you and Logan alone again. You sit up on the table, noticing Logan has your shirt in his hand. You reach for it, but he pulls it out of reach from you. Confused, you scrunch your eyebrows. He scrunches up the shirt, one hand in each arms hole, holding the opening for your torso towards you.
âYou gotta be kidding me. Iâm not that fucking fragile. Let me put my own damn shirt on.â Logan just arches an impressive brow, and you sigh, not willing to fucking wrestle him for your shirt back. Tearing up your stitches again would just be counterintuitive, and you are tired. So you sigh, again, reaching both arms forward.
You let Logan put the shirt on you, you grimace as the mostly dried blood is still present, even if itâs not very visible. The action is weirdly intimate as he stays close afterwards. You let his eyes wander over your face and chest for a few seconds, before you push him away with a boot to his stomach. You could, and you almost do, go for the crotch instead, but you are not certain he wouldnât actually stab you with his claws if you kicked him in the dick, since Wade isnât in the room.
âEnough.â Your voice is low, your feelings are a mess, but most of all you are tired. You canât really make out Loganâs or Wadeâs either, itâs all just a jumble in your head now. Christ, you thought having one person sort of in your head was bad, this is just so much messier. Logan hands you your jacket, this one you are allowed (fucking silly as that sounds) to put on by youself. You do it slowly, staring down on the floor, and resolutely not on Logan, or his boots.Â
Which is why itâs a short way for your gaze to move as you hear the patter of small paws and claws on the floor, quickly followed by Wadeâs pink slippers.
The creature sets itself down at your feet, tail wagging, tongue hanging out. It has mostly grey-brown skin, covered with white tufts of what you think is supposed to be fur. Its eyes are big as it looks up at you, barking once, tongue hanging out of its mouth.
âWhat the fuck is that thing.â Wade steps forward, bending down to scoop it up.
âThat is Dogpool, or Mary Puppins. Say hi!â Wade holds her up to your face, you recoil as much as you can while still seated, as that long tongue tries to lick you.
âAww, she likes you.â You grimace.
âSheâs hideous.â Wade gasps, pressing her close to his chest, pressing a hand over one ear like she can understand you.
âSo rude! Sheâs perfect.â Logan snorts. âOh shut up you. She takes after her beautiful papa.â You glance down at the cre-, no dog apparently, as you get off the table.
âThe dog is uglier.â
âAw, such a charmer!â You start to walk towards the door, or doorway rather, but are stopped by a hand on your wrist. You look down, and then up at Logan who scowls at you.
âWhere the fuck are you going?âÂ
âAway from here."
âWe need to-âÂ
âWe donât need to do anything. I donât even know why I came here, I donât want any of it. Soulmates are messed up, a thing that I donât care about, a fucking cruel joke of a perverse fucking universe. Iâve seen way too many people get messed up by it all, and I will not be one of them.â You wrench your wrist free, bristling with the concern you can now feel push through everything else in the bond from them both. You send pure anger back, they both frown at you.
âJust read up on how to suppress the bond, learn the fucking mental gymnastics of keeping it and yourselves quiet, and if I start getting a migraine or achy joints, I know where to find you fuckers.â
âWe donât know where to find you. What will we do if we start feeling achy for your love and attention?â You are sure if Wade had eyelashes, they would be fluttering as he blinks rapidly at you, Mary Puppins still in his arms. Itâs not quite as confident or flirty as before, heâs trying to hide how disappointed he is at your words, even as you can feel it through your bond.
âSuffer.â This time, none of them tries to stop you as you leave, grumbling to yourself under your breath.Â
âOh, I love how cruel you are pookie, so nasty!â You ignore the nonsense Wade yells after you as you take the stairs, ready to get away from this fucking mess.Â
You have two fucking soulmates.
You want to scream, but thereâs other people around when you get to the street, but in your mind itâs far from quiet.
FUCK.

Aemond Targaryen x reader (uses of fem pronouns)
Word count; 0.4k (full fic; here)
cw: hurt, comfort, soft Aemond, mentiones of death.
a/n;I havenât written in almost a year soo, my apologies if this is sloppy. Also this is my first time writing for Aemond, Iâm so excited for everyone to read this!! This is in Aemondâs POV? but mostly third person, so no uses of second person.
Kinslayer.
Thatâs what they called him. Rejoicing in celebration as his brother patted him on the back after Vhagar mercilessly killed Arrax and Lucereys Targaryen. His nephew, his kin. Aegon lookedâŠproud? Alicent shaking her head, as she makes her way to her chambers, unable to look at him. His grandsire looked as though he was about to faint right that instant.
He didnât mean to. He didnât want to. He was justâŠ
Just what?
There was no simple explanation to why he acted the way he did tonight on Stormâs End. He was angry, furious even. But he, a man who is the perfect picture of composure, let his emotions get the worst of him. He was only trying to scare him with Vhagar, a dragon that chose him. Vhagar chose him that night, a dragon known for its great size and strength all over the Seven Kingdoms.
He should be celebrating, with his brother; who called for a celebration, a feast in Aemondâs name.
Kinslayer.
Kinslayer
Kinslayer.
Kin-
Soft thumbs invaded his hands, plotting a coup and attacking their way into his palms, a finger, then another, weaving through his hand and shooting pints of blood to his heart that thrummed erratically through his chest. He could feel it in his bones.
He took a breath, then another.
InâŠ.holdâŠout.
He tensed his feet, trying to dig them into the concrete ground of the grand hall. Drowning in the cold noises of the feast.
He doesnât say anything, or meet her eyes. Fearing what she might hold in them. Fear? Disappointment? Distaste? Does she see him as a monster now that heâs betrayed one of his own?
He never liked Lucereys, but he knows she did. Oh even the sevens know how much she loves those boys, ever since they were kids. She never held any distaste towards his nephews or his siblings. He never liked them, but he loves her. God, he loves her.
They donât say anything to each other. Not for the rest of night. She keeps a hold of his hand, squeezing it once, pausing, then two and three. A secret language- a code.
I still love you.
He kisses her forehead that night, not a single word uttered even then, his lips lingering as he cradles her head. Ever so carefully, like sheâs porcelain, breaking at any given moment. Pulling her into his chest as he feels her tears escape onto his chest. Silent sobs and his heart chips and eats him from the inside, not wanting him to see the next sunrise. But he stays still, he stays because he knows heâs at fault. And she stays too. Her arms like ivy curling into him as he hugs her- squeezes her, once then again.
Iâm sorry.
