Kdin's My Little Blog Along (PART 1)

MLPFiM Eps 1 - 5

So going into things this season, I believe, is the one I thought I remembered the most and had the most memories of.

That ended up being true so far but also not true.

Celestia starts off the series gaslighting everyone by cleverly rewriting history through the acts of a children's storybook.

I really don't understand how anyone can trust her at her word since she's basically PONY GOD and can just live long enough for people to just forget about stuff and then change history herself... but maybe I'm being too meta about this.

Celestia reading the story of Nightmare Moon and then transitioning to it being Twilight Sparkle is a great way to introduce her as Celestia's student.

Then immediately Twilight begins treating everyone, especially Spike, like garbage. I legit remember Twilight being a complete jerk in the first bits of things but she's pretty trash as a person/pony. It's established that she's been ignoring everyone around her for a long time and that people keep trying but they don't know why they bother anymore.

Celestia tells Twilight to touch grass and kicks her out to Ponyville where Twilight continues to be absolutely WAY more rude than I remember to everyone she interacts with... especially Spike.

The show moves way faster than I remember and by the time we meet everyone Nightmare Moon has already shown up and the first episode ends. Celestia was supposed to be there and just kinda no-showed, we have no idea why she never showed up to the party but likely because she knew her sister was gonna be there and Celestia is very much "lol not my problem" and is making Twilight do it.

Part 2 is basically "Part 1 again, but more focused and at night" - heavily reinforcing that Twilight has problems with people and that everyone who is following her have ELEMENTS about them that make them SUPER GREAT PEOPLE/PONIES.

Pinkie's "Laughter Song" is our first proper in show song and I remember it word for word which says the song is a great earworm and easy for folks to remember. PERFECT for a kids show and Pinkie is already racing to the front as "best pony" of the bunch with her mannerisms.

We get through the trials of "Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy could have easily got everyone through these with no problems" quickly and it's time for Nightmare Moon showdown 2.

SURPRISE the ponies are the elements of harmony because of the things they literally said on the way here but also TWILIGHT is the element of "MAGIC" ... which I swore was not magic when I first watched it, but I suppose that's a "it's magic...al friendship" that happens later.

One giant mega death rainbow later, Nightmare Moon has her evil blasted away and Celestia shows up fashionably late and is like "oh good it's over, anyway apologize to me Luna" and shock - Nightmare Moon is her sister whom she banished to the fucking moon and Luna apologizes.

A THOUSAND YEARS, CELESTIA! THATS A LONG TIME TO IMPRISON YOUR SISTER ON THE MOON!

Anyway, episode ends with Celestia banishing moving Twilight to Ponyville so she can stay away from her and give Celestia some fucking piece and quiet for three seconds learn more about friendship through her new friends.

Which immediately leads into Episode 3, "The Ticket Master" in which Celestia - WHO KNOWS TWILIGHT HAS 6 FRIENDS (I'm including Spike) - sends Twilight two tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala and says to bring a friends.

I like to believe that Celestia is either doing this just to fuck with Twilight or that she assumes Twilight is so annoying to deal with that she lost most of the other pony's friendship after that whole Nightmare Moon thing.

Everyone has their "VERY GOOD REASONS" for wanting the tickets and... the reasons kinda suck, but Twilight assures the audience that they are VERY GOOD REASONS and spends the rest of the episode yelling at everyone to stop doing her favors to butter her up which becomes the main pain point the episode.

Pinkie just outright says she's doing things to get the ticket, everyone else lies about it (Fluttershy does say the truth but only after Angel, her bunny, kicks her for lying). We also get two quick not-really-full songs from Pinkie again in this one and she's maintaining her lead as "Best Pony" so far.

Everything is solved when Twilight sends the tickets back and tells Celesia "I CAN'T PICK BETWEEN MY FRIENDS" and Celestia sends back a "Lol just say you need more tickets, stop being so extra" and sends everyone a ticket. Episode 3 ends.

Episode 4 sees the intro of Big Macintosh who takes the "Best Side Pony" slot immediately by being both reasonable in explanation, reasoning, and level of directness in dealing with issues. This will change later when he gets his own episodes, but for now he's the level headed thinker and basically says Applyjack can't handle the entire Applebucking season herself after he had an injury.

Applejack burns out faster than a pre-transition "gifted child" in high school and spends the rest of the episode in a daze between asleep/awake and starts doing incredibly dangerous or downright mean things.

Eventually, after days of pressure and constant asking, Twilight convinces her to ask for help and Applejack breaks and agrees.

During the ending "Dear Princess Celestia" letter we see everyone helping and then TWILIGHT BASICALLY DOING ALL THE WORK IN ONE MAGICAL MOVE AND WHAT THE FUCK? She literally just... could do all the work herself. We'll see this "heavily relying on magic" thing bite her on the ass later but there's literally no reason that she shouldn't have just talked to Big Mac and explained things. YES that defeats the purpose of Applejack learning the lesson but also holy fuck she almost died so many times this episode. Episode 4 ends.

Episode 5 is "Griffon the Brush-off" which I thought was WAY WAY WAAAAAAY longer into the season but no, I'm wrong.

The lesson in this episode is "if your friend is hanging with someone who is an asshole there's not a lot you can do about it, but you can control your own actions and how you treat people" which is a fine lesson except Gilda the Griffon starts outright antagonistic and kinda just... awful. So Pinkie is fully right to call out this shit to Rainbow and I think the lesson here is a little off.

Pinkie is helpful and kind the entire episode, constantly giving the benefit of the doubt, and ends up treated like garbage and SHE apparently is the one to learn the lesson this episode... not Rainbow Dash.

Episode ends with Twilight learning how to prank people because of the "pranks" happening all episode between Gilda and Rainbow (who's pranks are wrongly attributed to Pinkie) - she sends Celestia invisible ink and Celestia gets pranked ... I feel like Celestia takes this personally and will be making the remaining 200+ episodes a living hell for Twilight.

ALL IN ALL... first five episodes are still great, Twilight is way more of a rude bitch than I remember and I think she gets better later on but I also don't remember her being THAT BAD over all and I was wrong.

Voice performances ACROSS THE BOARD are great, lots of wonderful visual gags, and lots of charm throughout the entire thing. The animation just looks great and aged very well.

Twilight, both in story and voice performances, is the weakest link. The performances and characters of the other Main 6 are carrying this show so far. END OF PART 1

rewatching mlp:fim and i have come to the conclusion that 1) every mother fucker in this show is gay and mentally disabled as fuck 2) pinkie pie is either schizophrenic or something like, adjacent to that, there is no other explanation to pinkie pie's internal vision of the grand galloping gala as this odd un-liminal anti-space filled with marrionettes and facsimiles of carnival imagery but not in any way that feels like a Reality, even compared to the other internal dreamvisions the others in the mane 6 have of their ideal gala

“Just a couple more finishing touches!”

Triple Threat practically looked like an alicorn princess in her new gown, with its lavender folds cascading down her figure and accenting all her best features, including a tasteful slit by her leg. She felt sexy and ethereal wearing it, like she was about to be the belle of the ball at the next Grand Galloping Gala!

The event she was getting ready for was just as good.

“I just can’t believe you’ve been invited to the Bridleway Ball!” Stockholm gushed on her behalf while she mended some of the seams. “It’s only one of the biggest events in Manehattan. I hear you’ll even get to go to the ballet after, am I right?”

“Yes!” TT grinned. “It’s a very old tradition. They’ve been hosting this particular event for about 120 years, I think?”

“Close, it’s 113 years!” Stockholm corrected her lightheartedly. “And they invited Queen Celestia to the first one so you know it’s a big deal! I read all about it as soon as I found out you were going.”

The conversation flowed so naturally for the two cousins-in-law as they both indulged in their interests over this one topic, Stockholm contributing her history expertise and TT bringing her love for the theatre into their growing excitement for all that laid ahead.

“I’ll bet your older Bridleway friends will really appreciate this dress. You made a great choice! The sleek fit really reminds me of the old movie stars. Probably a little bit before their time, but maybe it’d remind them of their mothers’ and grandmothers’ time. The big and beautiful stars that came even earlier!”

Even though many of Triple Threat’s older friends were “firsts” in their performances, they weren’t the first to ever grace the Bridleway stage while fat. That honor went to ponies before them. This was something that never fully registered to TT with all of her focus on more immediate events, but Stockholm was right. It was like she was honoring the firsts of the firsts by attending that ball.

“You’re absolutely right,” TT said after some pondering. “And they’ll all be there too! We made sure we all got invited, we weren’t about to sit back and take it if only one of us got to go.”

“Being the only fat girl in the room is old news!” Stockholm added playfully. “I know how it is, being the only one of a lot of things.”

“And it shouldn’t stay that way!” TT asserted. “There’s a lot of potential actors of all backgrounds who could really change things up even more. Build a coalition, maybe. Then we’d get even more done than me and my fat body alone could do it.

“Yes, please!” Stockholm grew giddy with excitement at the idea. “You’d literally be making history! They’d be looking at your coalition the same way you looked up to Sugar Shaker and all the others.”

This was true. TT hadn’t quite thought of that either, until Boot and Stockholm told her about their work—how future performers and artists would be looking back on her generation the same way she idolized her forebears as a filly. It was wild to think about and only reminded her of how much she owed to them while she was still in the business.

“How do you think you’d start?” Stockholm inquired.

“Well, the problem is kind of like how Boot said it,” TT posited. “Many would be really good at acting and don’t think they can. That one kid, Skydance, thought that just because they felt they didn’t have the personality for it, but a lot don’t think they have the looks for it. Because all they’ve seen is the same old bodies over and over again! I already hope to show them what’s possible by being in these shows, but I feel like there could be more ways to really reach them.”

Stockholm nodded. “Your old lady friends could help you with that, right?”

“Yes, but not just them.”

TT’s mind suddenly lit up with ideas.

“We could reach the schools! Like the theater program you and Boot work for. Or the School of Friendship. But not just schools. We could invest more in local theater! Create opportunities all the way down the line, you know?”

“Yes! Who says all the changes have to be at the top?”

“You’re right!”

TT suddenly felt herself ready to take on the world in a new way than ever before. 

“We’ll reach every corner of theater, every corner of the arts! Whoever makes the rules won’t know what hit them. There’ll a whole new rulebook by the time we’re done.”

To start, Jekyll + Hyde are alicorns. He accidentally scienced a bit too strongly and suddenly woke up as now technically the prince of (rogue) science lol. I'm not sure what Jekyll was originally as they're all really good options for him,, OUGH If not alicorn then kirin. Part kirin? Poor man is going to feel he has even more reason to suppress his emotions

Rachel is a pegasus! Or, if we want to expand a bit, a Griffin perhaps? ;0

Jasper is an earth pony :]

Lanyon is a pegasus. But the other options are also v good for him

This one is also more silly and character interaction focused because I can't imagine mlp to be condemning the use of mad science, since that's basically magic. They do still have a problem with the whole stitching together corpses thing though. And splitting your soul in half

Jeks has done something with it before I believe, but I really like the idea of Jekyll and Twilight being related. Cousins? Distant cousins? Niece and uncle? Idk, but they're related somehow :] They both went to Celestia's magic school in Canterlot, probably not at the same time though, since I imagine Henry is much older.

Hyde likes to run around being a menace, and if alicorn, might have genuinely fooled a few into believing The Spirit of London Canterlot at Night is some aspect of nightmare moon lol

Jasper came from Ponyville to Canterlot and is actually a were timber wolf! He still worked on the farm. Though I'm not sure if the Apple farm or an unrelated one. If related to the Apple family. Then Japser leaving after getting his Not apple themed cutie mark definitely gave Apple Bloom some extra fears in that one episode where she thought not having an apple cutie mark would get her kicked off the farm (Jasper didn't actually get kicked off the farm)

Jasper and Fluttershy are best friends :] at least pen pals

Lanyon's family would definitely be the type of ponies that go the the grand galloping gala everytime it started up again. The night the main 6 "ruined" the gala was definitely in the top best days of his life. Of the main 6 I think Lanyon would hang out with,, hmm, Twilight? The others might be too energetic for him. But Twilight reminds him of Jekyll. She also isn't too proper and fancy. I think Lanyon would also like Rarity, but at first he immediately hated her. There'd be an episode where they're forced to work together and he realizes that she isn't all that bad

ok, so I think in the Grand Galloping Gala episode it's mentioned that Blueblood is Celestia's nephew, right? if not, I'm making it canon. Celestia and Luna are sisters with Amore (Amore being the oldest) now and Amore has two kids with her husband. one is Blueblood, who she sent away to Equestria when he was maybe 5-6 or whatever (and Celestia adopts him as her own or something to that measure) when Sombra started his attempts to rule over the empire, trapping Amore in the crystal catecombs to lock away her power. however, she was pregnant with Cadance at the time, so she keeps Cadance hidden until Amore can finally find a way to escape and lead a rebellion against her husband. this leads to Amore's death and gives Cadance a reason to be locked in battle with her father afterwards. so when Cadance finally seals Sombra away, she finally gets to meet her big brother! yay!

and back again with Starlight, she and Sunburst get married for tax benefits before she becomes a cult leader and they have a kid (Luster Dawn from the last episode of season 9) to "keep up appearances" around the same time. this makes her look like a family man (/gender neutral) and allows the people to think of her as even more of a great leader

also, Sunburst and Sunset siblings canon in my heart.

and then Trixie! I had the idea that she's estranged from whatever family she's from in order to pursue her dream of being a performing magician. so I thought why not make her Rarity's older sister! this given Diamond Tiara another reason to tease Sweetiebelle, yay!

speaking of the CMC, I'm making Scootaloo a latchkey kid with parents that hardly pay attention to her because they're always on business trips to Manehattan and stuff. like, her dad is a business man on Wallstreat (or the pony equivalent) and her mom is a model or something like that and they just leave Scootaloo alone at home, hence why Scootaloo latches onto RD because RD (as a police officer) is the only one who looks out for her

and last CMC idea, Apple Bloom gets into fights and shit. just feels in-character to me

i haven't fleshed too many characters out, but these are my ideas so far

would it be crazy if I made a My Little Pony AU where Twilight is an astrophysicist and she was studying the movement of the moon and stars for Celestia to figure out what the hell is going on with Luna and that's why she went to Ponyville? because that's where Luna was banished and it has the best vantage point?

and would it be crazy if Fluttershy was a changeling and she and her family are the ones who discover the reformation thing instead of Thorax?

and would it be crazy if I made it so that Rarity's family is uber rich and that Apple Jack is the sheriff and that Rainbow Dash is the deputy?

and would it be crazy if I shoved Sunset Shimmer into Ponyville as an actual doctor, disgraced from her school because of unknown reasons, who had a one-sided rivalry with Twilight that they have to resolve in order to fix something big that is happening in Ponyville?

and would it be crazy if I made Pinkie Mr. and Mrs. Cake's niece instead of just a random kid because what the hell was going on with them in canon?

There is a Big Galloping Gala coming up to Paris next month! And only the crème de la crème will be able to go.

Gabriel Agreste being busy with his terrorizing stuff, decides that Adrien will attend on his own for the first time, which means he will need a date (LE GASP!). He suggests Lila goes as his date, but Adrien quickly says he already invited someone else. Luckily for Adrien, Gabriel doesn’t question this, so that gives him time to formulate a plan.

Talking with Nino about his dilemma, Nino tells him that he should ask someone he trust, wouldn’t embarrass him, his father would accept without much of a trouble. Maybe a “dark haired beauty”.

And somehow, he ends up inviting Juleka, as Gabriel did like her work as a model that one time, and she could benefit from the exposure.  Juleka almost says no, but Rose convinces her it would be a great opportunity for her. Marinette  is dying inside, but since Juleka is already in a relationship and Adrien is not even in her radar, she just shrugs it.

And that’s when Felix Gremlin de Vanily, invites her to the same Gala.

Because of course wacky hijinks are expected, and Felix somehow ended up being invited too to the Gala, and not knowing anyone in Paris… except Chloe, but… well… Chloe… decides to invite Marinette because he believes he’s Adrien secret girlfriend and wants to mess up with him.

Marinette agrees, just makes sure that it will be a pure platonic “date”. Adrien somehow thinks Marinette and Felix are dating, specially with Felix teasing him.

Kagami, Chloe and Zoe of course are going too, but I have no idea who their “dates” could be for maximum hijinks. Kagami asking Luka sounds nice, but I think it would be funnier if she asks Nino as a favor, as they seem to be on good terms (based on the Instagram accounts). Zoe probably can ask Marc, since they’re in the same classroom. Chloe probably will take Sabrina wearing a fake moustache. Or somehow Nathaniel ends up as her “date” and spends a nice evening with Marc...

whet is a couple of your favorites my little pony fan fictions? i need some good suggestions, sorry if you don't read/listen to any of that.

Oh it's no trouble. It has been a while since I read MLP fanfiction so I'll just give you a few that stuck with me despite the years. Most of these will be kinda shippy because I just read a lot of that.

A story post canon that focuses on Starlight, Sunburst and kinda Trixie living in Twilight's castle as they run the school, and the little crush Starlight soon realizes she has on her childhood friend. Featuring fluffy poetry. This is a little emotional but not too angsty. Highly recommend.

Don't ask why I have two sunburst fics on here, but he's a lovable dork. Anyway set when Sunburst is still living in the crystal empire. He's got a crush on both of his bosses, who are married, and have a kid. and are literal royalty. See what happens. and this one has a sequel but don't read it first because spoilers!

Short and sweet Rarijack. Set right after the grand galloping gala at the end of season one. One of my favorite Rarijack fics as it displays both mares very true to character and also gives the two some development. A great read in short.

This is by far the longest fic on here. It's a story mainly focused on Pinkie and the aftermath of realizing she likes Twilight as more then a friend. There's fluff, cute moments and Pinkie being very confused and panicky about her feelings for Twilight. It's Twinkie perfection in my opinion.

I'd be happy to give you more if you want, but I'm going to leave you with these four to keep it simple. I hope you like them!
