Day 5: Dragonfly/ Forest (Image is Transparent)
Last of our Faerie friends from the Zelda series is the Great dragonfly or Great Forest Faerie. For Minish cap she is a bit more strict on Link asking the young hero to answer a few questions truthfully, if her quiz is failed you have to come back another time to get an arrow quiver upgrade. While in Four Swords she's just happy to see the four little eggs.

little astro observations i've made based on my little chart collection and experience 🎀
honestly i've observed this only in myself but you have a natural pull to people who's sun is the same sign as your 5th house, mine is in pisces and my bf, my best friend and my cat are all pisces, not to mention that 90% of my crushes have been pisces as well.
there is something about pisces and bunnies, they will either love bunnies (have tattoos of them, make art about them, be their favourite animal), own or have owned a bunny or they look like one, (my bf is all of the above).
in synastry a north node over a person's mars may indicate the north node person taking the mars person's virginity.
in synastry a person's moon in your 9th house may indicate they understand/feel/empathize with emotions in a different way from you due to where they come from and how they were culturally socialized, i have this with my bf and he comes from a north american individualist country where your emotions are your responsibility and other's are theirs and i come from a post communist country where you are responsible for everyone's emotions, and ppl live for other people.
in vedic astrology i am a hasta moon, claire nakti made a video on hasta nakshatra and describes hasta natives as "fairy pretty" and i have a pair of dragonfly fairy wings tattooed on my back, plus ive been told (before my tattoo) that i give off fairy vibes.
saturn ruled 3rd house makes you have to spend a lot of time in public transportation, for example you might live far from where you need to go, for me it used to take me 1 hour at least to get to some places, sometimes i'd have to wait an hour just to then spend on hour on the bus. just overall imposes patience for transportation
a lot of astro observation posts say that an aquarius 4th house makes you feel like u dont belong in your family or that you're the black sheep of the family, but i dont find that accurate at all, i feel like it makes the native the one to challenge family values, they may be the one to make their family change for humanitarian reasons
idk if this is a real technique already used by astrologers but i have a wholesign MC theory. in wholesign the midheaven can fall in the 9th/10th or 11th house. my theory is that wherever it falls is the way you get ahead in life, the way through which u become publicly known or get your career. If it falls in the 9th your career is owed to ur studies/travel, 10th your hard work/experience/reputation, 11th your connections/social media/friends.
i think i have the most literal astrological placements being passed down from your parents example. obviously placements dont always get passed down, my sister has none of their placements, but perhaps being the first child may have contributed to this since the first child is when parents still have their personality not yet influenced by parenthood. so my moon and my sun, which we know symbolize the parents amongst other things, are at the same degree and they sextile eachother exactly, which I think is an indicator that my parents are very harmonious together; they are still together and in love even now. furthermore, my moon and sun are the same signs of my parents' stelliums, i have a libra moon and my mom has a libra stellium, and my sun is in leo and my dad has a leo stellium.
sibling's ceres in your first is feeling like a parent to them, i constantly tell my sister she's my daughter, we even have an inside joke that i gave birth to her at 5, and my ceres is in her fourth, the house of motherhood so she definitely sees me as a parental figure.
me and my bf have eachother's jupiter in our 7th houses, besides being in a serious committed relationship, we want to start a business together. so i feel this is a great indicator for great partnership in both regards.
i feel like this is also a technique but i haven't really heard much about it, generational planets affect us through societal conditions/problems whereas personal planets affect us through personal problems. for example: let's go with two malefics, i have pluto in the first house which i feel would be very different from having let's say mars in the first house. the first house is amongst many things our appearance which i am insecure about. i have never in my life been told i am ugly, i am actually constantly told i am beautiful, and yet it does not click. it isn't through personal experiences that i have problems with my appearance but through consumption of society ideals. this is of course an oversimplification but you get what i mean.
chiron retrograde in natal changes our perception on trauma. me and my bf have the same chiron, his is retrograde while mine is not. he constantly says he is not traumatized, whereas i can tell i am. he 100% has traumas, the thing is that it's like he's left them behind? he just says it happened a long time ago so it's done. my observation is that retrogrades in your natal may make u leave things in the past or have a "it happened a long time ago it doesn't matter" attitude towards trauma. the thing is he acts like a non-traumatized person which is crazy to me.
i have a skin condition called dermatographia, also overall very dry itchy acne prone skin, i also have scars. here are a few placements that i have that i feel may be an indicator for skin conditions: mars ruled first house (traditional rulership) mars is inflamation and scarring, saturn in seventh saturn is dry and some people consider that libra(7th house) rules the skin, saturn opposite ascendant, saturn square venus i see venus as clear skin due to its aesthetical perfection.
saturn in 1st, especially conjunct ascendant indicates identity issues. borrowing elements of identity from people you admire, not feeling like you identify with the gender assigned at birth, not identifying with your birth name, etc.
having a libra 12th house can indicate traumatic female friendship. the 12th house is the house of hidden enemies, so you perceive these people as your friends, sometimes even best friends, so when they betray you it is very jarring and traumatic. having female friends that are jealous of you, female friends that pretend to like you, female friends that talk shit about you and even sometimes lie about u, friends that purposefully hide information from you, that want what you have, sometimes sabotaging what you have or trying to make u lose the thing they want, etc. this is a very difficult placement, because you love these people so much that you would've given up things, changed things or shared things with them if only they were honest with you. in the best of cases the friendship is real and full of love but you grow apart, and this is also painful because you can't control it.
venus square ascendant is people telling you they love you and you not believing them. just overall hardships around love and seeing yourself as loveable. double points when it also squares saturn making u think that if u are loved it's hard work or that people had to convince themselves to, that you're hard to love.
people with venus conjunct mars in first are stunning and have an androgynous vibe to them. sometimes this is visual, strong muscular body with graceful posture, but it can reflect in their personality, just strength imbued with vulnerability, people that surprise you, that are balanced.
taurus 6th house can indicate finding romantic partners in the workplace.
having a stellium in the 4th and no planets in the 10th, can indicate a strong connection to your mom and a disconnect from your dad, especially when the sun is in the opposite sign of your tenth house(in your 4th) feeling like your dad is not the way he should be.
🎀
please let me know what you think, im very curious how they hold up in other people's charts, critiques are welcome and invited.

Would there be any noteworthy considerations for a winged character using a bow while in flight? Bonus question what about using a bow in high-heels, my oc has both wings and high heels
This feels like a future video project, but in the meantime:
Wings- depends on the wings. A fairy with Insectile wings like a bee or dragonfly probably doesn't need to worry over much because the rotation of those wings likely keeps them out of the way. But large bird- or bat-like wings would flap in a way that brings them in front of the bow as you stand in a regular stance, so you'd have to time your shots.
Also, what's your muscle arrangement? Archery uses your back and shoulder blades a lot, as do real world wings (which is why bats and birds only have 2 legs)- not an issue for magic flight but the biologist in me struggles with this if I think too hard.
Finally, can your character hover? If not, all their shots are taken on the fly, as it were, so they're probably going to adapt horse archery techniques rather than more static ones.
Heels- from my experience, I'd say that if they can walk well in heels, they can shoot in them. Heels force an upright posture, which is great for shooting Mediterranean target style, but might be a bit harder when speed shooting as there's a lot more fast upper body movement. Doable though.

Still on a Bugettes au kick, decided to dabble into ideas of the rainbow fairies (working off that for the Bugettes, they were known as fairies; which hey, if kwamis appear, this way the bugs can be their own thing). For the canon bugs, expect some slightly altered personalities, and changed up lore set up to work off this concept (like this is Europe's magical beings that make heroes).
Btw, all of these will work off Tikki's base concept art, as she's the easiest to do edits on.

Rainbow Fairies: Longg the Blue Dragonfly
Tumblr media
Longg is regal, wise, and formal. He is a fairy who feels like he's always living right before something momentous and anticipates seeing the storm flourish. Tied to the color blue, Longg is known to be loyal, confident, reliable, and soothing. He can be a bit of a rambler, but he just has thoughts he likes to share, which many humans find to be ironic given dragonflies often live in a rush.
As a slight echo of dragons, Longg sees humans as his "hoard", he likes to see what they create, what they do next; they are a turbulence of unpredictability and he likes to be surprised. What they do is always new. So when there's a threat to humanity as a whole, he will bring the storm to combat it. There are a few times Longg will act on his own and without a human, but he's done so less as he's terrified many humans with his power, and has been rather reckless. It was to a point that when the fairies were more known, he had the most infamous reputation for the damage he could cause. He always felt guilty about it.
In terms of romance, Longg has no personal opinion on the matter. He can view it as a distraction, but he has also seen it's strength. Personally, he just stays out of it. Humans will do as humans do. They usually sort it out themselves or move on.
Longg likes to encourage humans to live up to their own potential, seeing the greatness that they could be, but often finds most humans hold themselves back. As an echo of blue, he likes to encourage humans to be trusting, to be loyal, to be calm, and to live with integrity. To use their potential for greatness, for nothing is greater than to soar as a hero and come to defense of others.
As Longg embodies the coming of change, he likes to pick humans who are in need or have a desire of change. That something as they are is an issue, something that holds them back from who they are meant to be. He takes a lot of pride in having the chance to be a mentor to those in need of guidance, even if there's a struggle as they dip and fall, he has confidence that every human will be able to soar, and he shall fly right beside them.

: ̗̀➛ Mother of the Fae
Once upon a time, there was a young maiden who dearly wished to become a mother. She was of fair skin, with brown hair and eyes, and though the latter could almost be as dark as night, they never ceased to keep a certain tender kindness to them. And yet still, they were often saddened. For you see, she so dearly desired to become a mother and raise little children of her own, yet she desired no man. It wasn’t that she had few choices, no, no, many men from different villages came to ask for her hand, but always she refused.
Many were handsome, many were not, but all failed to move her heart.
And so, with little other choice to be made, the young maiden left her humble home one early morning to wander into the Great Forest. Thick were the trees and tall were their roots, and though the ground was soft with moss and grass the young maiden found that often her feet would ache, and her legs would grow weak. Delirium wreaked havoc upon her mind and she came to remember the warnings of the fairy hunters.
“Fairies cast a spell upon their lands long ago. It’s difficult to travel far into their territory without growing confused and frightened, and unless you’re trained you shouldn’t push on, but if you must, then do not fall asleep until the confusion has left you, or else you’ll never wake up again.”
It was difficult to not fall asleep. The young maiden felt so tired, and her feet and legs ached so, but taking an apple from her satchel she quickly ate and continued, drinking from every stream she passed. The water was fresh and cold; delicious, far better than any she’d ever tasted before. It made her sleepier still.
Through the day and into the night she walked, and the forest did not lessen but seemed to grow more ancient, stranger almost in its appearance, yet the young maiden found it to be beautiful and she smiled as she ran her hands along the trees she passed.
She fell asleep by the third day, unable to keep her eyes open any longer. The moss was softer than her bed back home and the large leaves of the trees were warmer than her blankets. Peacefully she slept throughout the night and early morning and well into the evening, so tired was she that she did not wake until a sharp nip came at her neck. Delirious she awoke and clutched at the sore skin, finding a drop of blood on her fingers.
The roots around her moved, pushing her upwards until she stood. The trees swayed and waved their branches, and they whispered “This way, this way” as their roots pushed at her back, forcing her forward.
They were more beautiful than ever before, thought the young maiden; and the trees rustled as their leaves caressed her hair, her cheeks and arms as they fell. Surely, they must have heard her thoughts for they grew so merry they almost danced, and slowly they parted ways until the maiden came upon a large lake. Glittering white bubbles swam across the water’s surface and fairies in the hundreds flew by so fast they made the maiden’s head spin as she tried to look at them.
Loudly they laughed as they chased each other, some carried sticks, others rode on dragonflies or threw bumblebees as if they were mere toys, yet the furry bees snickered as they soared through the air and one crashed against the maiden’s forehead, shook itself gently, apologised, and flew off.
The maiden laughed at it all, giggling as if she was a little girl as she clapped her hands. The fairies stilled their play and watched her, and she grew still once more. The silence was sudden, but it was soon broken by the maiden’s gasp as a fairy, brighter and faster by all came towards her, wings of the rainbow casting coloured lights across the water and the trees. He came to a sudden halt right by her nose, and his smile was wide as he tilted his head this way and that, studying her closely.
His mouth opened and chirps came out.
He was cute, very cute, and the maiden smiled though she couldn’t understand him. The fairy laughed and flew back, and with a swirl of leaves and petals, he was suddenly larger, still shorter than her, but closer to her size.
“I will grant your wish, fair maiden,” said the fairy, smiling wide, sharp canines bared as he flew closer to her again. He said nothing more and neither did she as he kissed her, holding her cheeks and making her world swim as her feet were lifted from the forest floor. Her heart grew flooded, and stars danced across and around her as branches and wind held her. Warmth consumed her body, and she sang as fairies flew over and under her, their voices small and merry as they watched.
The maiden’s eyes opened with a start. Her skin prickled with cold, and she sat up, the moss beneath her damp. Quickly her eyes turned down and breath escaped her. Carefully, she reached to caress her swollen belly. It was warm to the touch.
A huff of a breath.
A soft laughter.
A cry of joy.
The woman, a maiden no more, put on her dress and stood upon her feet. The night was dark, and the forest was alive with grunts and ugly laughter. Trolls were roaming about, and the woman clutched at her stomach protectively. The trees slowly swayed, and she found a great hollow oak to hide within until the morrow came. Long was the night as trolls caught her scent and searched for her; hunted for her, but none found her. Not until the sun was well and truly up did she dare to make her way back home, and now the path back was short, only an hour’s worth of travel.
Joyfully she ran into her village, proclaiming that she was finally full with child, but her family only watched in horror as they and all the others screamed at her to go away, to take her demon child before it cursed them all. And the woman was saddened for she didn’t know where to go, and thus instead turned back to the forest, her feet now sore as her shoes grew rotten before falling off.
Grieved she caressed her belly, now larger than ever before, and she marvelled at the sight of it even as her sorrow grew. How was she to take care of her child, all alone as she was? But alas, alone she was not as a familiar fairy laughed in her ear before kissing her cheek and carrying her up, up, up into the air. Frightened laughter soon turned to squeals as the woman saw what none other than her had ever seen before, and the fairy who held her so gently took her to a small clearing where a house had been raised, built by the trees giving a root each for its construction.
Here she would lay as the dark of night ensnared the island once more, and trolls sang their ugly songs as the woman screamed to the moon.
One
   Two
      Three
         Four
            …
               Forty-six
                  …
                     A hundred and seventy-two…
                        …
Even as the woman screamed, tears of happiness trailed across her cheeks as her children were born, one after another. So many they were that they swarmed her quaint room, their skin pale and their eyes black as night, and quickly they crawled through cracks, windows and doors as their wings took to the wind and they flew away, searching for homes of their own.
“Your name, my maiden no more,” said her fairy, his wings glowing in the darkened room and warding off any roaming trolls. “Give me your name.”
“Faye.”
“Faye,” he said, tasting the name as he took it with that smile ever present on his lovely face. “I shall give it to our children. Fae, they shall hence be named for the sun to hear, their true names only for the moon to keep,” said he, soft chuckles escaping him as he kissed her once more. “And for your name, I give you life, one that is yours to keep for all eternity, lest you wish to close your eyes and sleep once more. Should you ever return to slumber under the moon, then that life will return to me, and dreams will forever be your only company.”
And though the fairy laughed most cruelly, the woman only smiled as she held his hand and kissed his knuckles with her soul’s tenderness. He grew momentarily still, though he caressed her cheek one last time before he left her, and never once returned to her again.
It is said the mother of the fae remains deep in the forest, grown far older than any human should, yet remaining as beautiful as the day she lost her name. She never sleeps but remains awake to bask in the sight of her children playing and growing ever stranger as the days and nights pass, and she loves them more than life itself, for what kind of mother would she be if she didn’t wish nothing but the best for her beloved children.
Addendum:
Ink’s wickedness knows no bounds when it comes to granting the wishes of desperate big folk, yet the completion of Faye’s wish has and still does not bring her grief. Though he granted her two hundred and fifty-five fae children, she is – still at present – ever in a perpetual state of readied pregnancy.
A good portion of her children snuck away on travelling merchant ships to settle on the mainland and created various colonies of their own, breeding with different magical creatures now and again to create different versions of the fae. However, the fae that remained on Fairy Island lived in smaller colonies spread around the western lands of Ink’s domain, and they lived as secluded families, only ever accepting the presence of their father and mother; showing hostility to any other that tried to mingle with them.
As they are all brothers and sisters, they do not breed with each other, so they live for centuries until their inevitable decay. And every time a fae of Fairy Island dies, their mother – at first appearing flat-bellied – grows round again, preparing to replace those who wither and fall to death.
How fortunate for Faye that she so dearly loves to be a mother, and how the prospect of forever being in a perpetual state of readied pregnancy doesn’t at all frighten her. After all, should she ever tire of it, then she only needs to sleep, for then she will never wake again and she will find rest forevermore; not dead, but ever lost in precious dreams as the world shifts and moves around her.

Love your Wind as a humming bird comic. Any ideas for what the others would change into?? (I think Time as a kitten or something adorable would be funny)
Thank you! Wind as a hummingbird is such a wonderful idea and I have to thank and give credit to @/winkwonkblog for the prompt! I didn't really do Wind as a hummingbird justice when it came to like, drawing him well, but I had fun playing with the idea of it.
As for dark world forms! The fandom's done a great job exploring this and I really like a lot of (at least what I think are?) the more common takes! My preferences have been influenced by all the pieces of fanart, fic, and discussion I've seen - so many pieces that are tried, true, and tested! - so I don't have much to add! I like what the fandom's come up with and enjoy seeing new interpretations. It's a great big collaboration with a bunch of coexisting ideas and I love that.
These are going to be familiar lol (and I'll include some recs too, as one does!)
Time - I agree that Time being a cat or something cute and fuzzy would be funny because it would clash so much with how he's presented in the comic! Let him be something soft and unassuming so he can use it to his advantage for shenanigans! Like Legend though, I think he'd dislike being so fragile. He needs claws or something. To be honest, the hero of time being a golden wolf has never really felt right to me. I see general oot/mm Link as more of an an owl or fox. However, his characterization in LU makes it fit and I appreciate that. It's gotten me to come around to it some.
Twi - Wolfie, yeah
Wild - coyote or deer
Sky - Remlit, goose, or dove (Failure and Fortitude by sister_dear and this art by luwyv, and Untitled Goose Fic by theScrap_Witch)
Warriors - Wars as a weasel or ferret! Something with very nice and pretty fur and very sharp teeth. The thought of Legend holding him up and slinkying him around is amusing. (it's much-too-late'o'clock for me so I get to make up words)
Legend - Rabbit (read this if you haven't !!!-> Not half Pawd by SongMina, as well as Tiny Adventures by Lightning of Farosh)
Four - Hummingbird, mouse, or cat (All of @/chrispy-chimkin's LU Wing AU! Just look at Four!!! Look at him!!! <3 <;3 <3 See also Feline Fatale by Seeking7 and Usagisama68)
Wind - Seagull! (Again, Chris' wing au, but also @/layraket's creatures gang, and A Pear and a Portal by glowingjellyfishtreelights)
Hyrule - I'm not really sure! My joke answer is an okapi. Maybe a badger! idk! he's a dragonfly-winged fairy idk about an animal form for him. A coyote or gray fox, a brown-colored medium sized bird, something like that. Sorry I don't have the most inspired answers haha. I imagine Hyrule's Hyrule (in Zelda 1) as california chaparral so I think he'd be some kind of creature that lives there. I can tell you what kind of tree he'd be!!! Hyrule would be a ribbonwood tree (aka redshanks)! Ribbonwood bounces back quickly after wildfires, with the leaves sprouting again even after being all burned off. The bark that falls away from the tree comes off in strips or "ribbons" that are soft but scratchy and brittle when dried out. that give the tree a kind of whipsy appearance. It's wild and wiggly (I'm all out of adjectives at the moment) and very much a part of the landscape, a piece that ties it all together. The smooth bark underneath is a deep red and cool to the touch. The earthy red and vivid yellowing-green color is suiting. If you cup the leaves in your hands and breathe on them they release a soft rain-like smell. I'm just really passionate about Hyrule and this tree and ecosystem ahsfdhas do you see the low shrubs and parched dirt and the scrambling rocks and the mountains!!! the dry and hot and high altitude and dense shrubbery impassable to find hidden paths through! so much green no stranger to fire!!!!

Rating the pets of EAH based on what is on the EAH wiki and my limited knowledge:
Adelita - Rosabella's butterfly. I have never heard of this. Also apparently Adelita translates to 'noble'?? 3/10 I don't think it suits her and also how do you keep a butterfly as a pet.
Barber - Poppy's squirrel monkey. I guess squirrel monkeys are cute and I can see it as a pet for her but I have yet again no memory of this. 5/10
Clipper - Holly's lion cub. Apparently it is 'charmed' to stay a cub forever?? Don't know how that work or why she has a lion or why she would name it Clipper?? there are better names girl. 3/10
Carmine - Cerise's dire wolf. Okay so technically they're part of the same pack or something but it's the daughter of Littler Red Riding Hood and the big Bad Wolf. You can't go wrong with giving her a wolf friend whose name is another shade of red. 6/10
Carrolloo - Kitty's caterpillar. A sneaky little guy. From what we saw of him he compliments Kitty's personality and you know, a caterpillar with a wonderlandian? It's not like I can be mad. 6/10
Clockwork - Cedar's wooded cuckoo. Okay I do actually like this a lot. Even if we never really saw him it's a great concept for her pet to be wooden like her. Especially when you consider it would probably have to been made specifically for her. I love it 8/10
Clydesdale - Farrah's pet mouse. Don't recall and there are better mice. 2/10
Divacorn - Briar's unicorn. Absolutely slayed so hard I don't care about the name which is an astonishing feat. I mean of course Briar would have a pink unicorn it just makes sense. 8/10
Drake - Hopper's dragonfly. Drake. 2/10 Only getting extra points because it is a literal DRAGONfly. He breathes fire.
Earl Grey - Maddie's dormouse. Perfection. Best dressed of all of the pets. Is a silly little guy with a silly little hat that lives in her hat. Impeccable. 10/10
Gala - Apple's snow fox. Gala is a great name just because of the fact this it is not only a type of apple but also a fancy party. Very royal, on brand, like to curl around her neck. Iconic. 8/10
Grizz - Blondie's baby bear. Blondie. Girlie. You are a reporter. Please get original. A bear for goldilocks' daughter is fine but it's just like. I'm bored girl. You can do better. 3/10
Jelly - Ginger's gummy fish. I. Love this. A sentient gummy fish she accidentally made? So iconic I'll ignore the basic name. It's like naming your goldfish 'Goldie'. Anyway, I love the concept, love the execution. 8/10
King Benedict - Humphrey's chicken. No. 2/10 for egg related name.
Mr. Cottonhorn - Dexter's jackalope. Guys. Guys. look at him.
Tumblr media
He's just a little guy. 10/10.
Moustro - Melody's rat. I like the idea and the pun name but I feel like I'd need to see a picture to be impressed. 5/10
Nevermore - Raven's dragon. There is no need for discussion. 10/10
P-Hawk - Daring's peacock. I think I remember him being kind of terrible so uh 1/10 because Daring I don't think that's how you say peacock honey.
Pesky - Hunter's squirrel. I love how even though they're like enemies they have the same haircut and Pesky has a little acorn bag that Hunter definitely made for him. Lives up to his name. 7/10
Philia - Cupid's Pegasus. Apparently 'Philia' is one of the ancient greek words for love that is often translated to friendship. soooo, even though I didn't know about her she gets a 6/10 because I think that's sweet.
Pirouette - Duchess's swan. Queen. Icon. Slay. Need I say more? 10/10
Sandella - Ashlynn's phoenix. The fact that Ashlynn has a phoenix because it rises from the ashes is so hardcore and I love it. Even if her name is Sandella. 7/10
Shuffle - Lizzie's hedgehog. The bestest and cutest little croquet ball. I don't have much to say but love you dearly. 7/10
Sir Gallopad - Darling's horse. He can change colour and camouflage which is THE coolest thing. Horsegirl Darling. 8/10 Also Daring officially has the worst pet out of the Charming siblings.
Spindle - Faybelle's pomeranian. Of course an evil fairy you have such an unassuming evil little dog. And of course she named it after her evil destiny. Iconic. 8/10.

What do fairies eat
Fairies love eating plants! Lots of veggies and salads, plus random plants and leaves. It's a nod to both their insect DNA and the fact that a lot of Fairies shapeshift into animals, so some people think it's rude to offer guests animals to eat.
That said, small mammals are popular foods. There's a lot of bird-eating in my 'fics because, uh... birds don't fall off the edge of the clouds :')
Larger game such as deer do exist, but they're usually on Plane 7 (the Wanderplains) and the characters I write don't go there often (It's where Cosmo went when told to "get lost" in "Fairly Odd Baby").
?? I guess unicorns are technically game animals, but Fairies definitely don't hunt them for cultural reasons akin to Da Rules. Anti-Fairies don't have an issue with it, though... although in "Not All the Same," Anti-Wanda told Anti-Cosmo he looked more ruffled than a fruit bat on a unicorn's carcass, so take that as you will.
Binky and Jorgen indulged on a lot of sweet treats when they were disguised as humans in the "Swim" Prompt.
Anti-Fairies, who struggle growing nutritious plants in their world, eat a lot of meat, especially birds. The animals they can hunt aren't great since the leaves don't grow well without the sun, but they'll eat whatever they can get (Ex: Anti-Wanda's roadkill critter cake).
Prior the War of the Angels, the Anti-Fairies relied on the magical bottomless cauldron of the Dagda, which could spawn food, but Anti-Cosmo lost it during the war.
Fairies tend to eat fast and get out while Anti-Fairies settle in for large, long meals. A lot of Anti-Fairies struggle to get enough food (especially since their species doesn't need food to live, so sometimes people just skip meals and grow steadily weaker). The polite thing to do is offer food to a guest if you have enough to spare.
This is one of the things H.P. finds annoying... Anti-Cosmo (and his predecessor) always give him food when he visits, and their meals take forever.
It's worth noting that Anti-Fairies drink a lot of wine and Fairies drink a lot of water or milk. Canonically, Fairies get drunk/hungover from candy and soda ("Power Pals"), which I've always interpreted as sugar and carbonation, so these societies prefer low-sugar drinks as opposed to juice.
The "Shadow" Prompt depicts Hiccup (Foop's alternate personality) going to lunch with Anti-Wanda at a traditional Anti-Fairy dining establishment, where we see hints of their food-serving culture (youth deferring to elders, so Hiccup is taken aback when Anti-Wanda offers him the last scone against protocol).
We also learn there's a tradition that the High Countess, in honor of the very first High Countess who was paralyzed and fed by her partner, isn't allowed to touch certain foods with "hands, magic, or utensils" and is supposed to be fed by close kin, and no one can eat until she's done. Anti-Wanda is uncomfortable with all that attention and pressure, so she dodges that custom by eating with her feet.
Foop & Hiccup think their mum is so dang smart... They really look up to her and it's important to me <3
Pixies eat soy, plus a lot of grains like oatmeal and cereal. However, all pixies are deathly allergic to honeywheat (because they're clones of H.P.); there's an upcoming scene in Origin of the Pixies where Anti-Cosmo is mad at him and serves him honeywheat rolls at a special banquet. H.P. catches on and screws him over by going to eat the roll anyway, so Anti-Cosmo lunges forward in a panic to save his life... and is forced to admit to everyone he just tried to poison his friend.
The anti-pixies are based on fruit bats, so they eat a lot of fruit. I'm pretty sure there's a gingerbread cave near them ("Clash With the Anti-World"), but I forget right now if I have that next to the Pixies or anti-pixies in my worldbuilding.
The common fairy subspecies share their biology with dragonflies, which are carnivores. They have to eat meat, which Cosmo's great at doing!
From his teen years up, Poof punishes himself by cutting meat out of his diet as much as he can without dying. It's not healthy for him, but he started doing it after crashing Cosmo's car in "Repeat;" I love this scene:
"Hey, Poofster. Come out where I can see you. You know I'm no good at hide-and-seek." Poof slunk around the desk, and Cosmo drank him in for the first time. His whole face had brightened pinker than a plum. He clenched Dusty's wand between both hands, knees curled almost to his chest. Where had Dusty gone off to, even? Odd. With slow beats of his wings, he drifted over to where Cosmo floated above the tile. "I'm not really sure what happened here, but I'm kind of broken up about this, Poof. Darla was handmade and perfect. Replacing her parts year past year was super expensive for me. Now she'll have to be a magical car, and that's gonna cause a lot of problems on magical roads. We'll have to pay extra fees because of that and get extra license restrictions now. We can't drive her some places in the cloudlands, even to her favorite mountain spots. And never, ever take her to the lakes. How are you gonna fix it?" "I'm sorry! I won't drink your chocolate milk again for a century. I won't hang out with friends and I'll do all my homework and I'll do my exercises and shower every day and I'll never ask for extra curfew time for the rest of my life! And… and I'll give up eating meat forever! Even pepperoni!" Cosmo's eyebrows lifted. That seemed a little harsh, even if he had crashed the car. But when Poof ducked his head, he said, "Gee. Well, I guess I have no choice except to forgive you if stop snitching my chocolate milk. But how did this happen? I thought you were going to practice, so why were you in Serentip?" "It was an accident! S-someone ran right on in front of me, and I had to spin the car so I wouldn't hit them." Pause. That hadn't been in the report. Cosmo glanced sideways at the three fairies behind the desk, who all averted their eyes and pretended to be working again. "And… you ended up in Serentip on… accident." "Dad." Poof lowered his voice to something like a hiss. "This is embarrassing… Can we talk about this somewhere else?" But the paperwork. Even Fairy paperwork had its sluggish annoyances, and he had no pixie here to lend a hand. Cosmo massaged the small space between his eyes. Maybe he shouldn't have. After all, they were still in public and Poof had already asked he tone it down… but when the thought struck him, he couldn't choke it back. "Are you okay? Were you… buying peppermint?" "No! No way, Dad! I don't take mint; I'm a good kid." Poof's eyes filled with wetness, their saltiness stinging the energy field like dandelions whapping window glass. "It was just an accident!"
In "Approval," Foop complimented Poof for bringing "quality refreshments" to the school dance they were setting up, remarking that he'd thought Poof would bring something "weird" since he doesn't eat meat. In that Prompt, we find out Foop is ALSO censoring his meat-eating, but it's because he's embarrassed to let on to his betrothed that he likes chicken nuggets, so he eats salad instead.
And we learned that Fairies use magical bubbles instead of plastic or styrofoam for their to-go orders :)
Also, apparently I have Anti-Cosmo down in my notes as a French fry lover to parallel Cosmo's potato skin allergy (and because A.C. thinks salt is tasty). I think he and Hazel would really bond over that.
- Anti-Cosmo's actually vegan in my 'fics because Cosmo likes meat so much. He tends to push this on people around him, especially Foop, which Foop has issues with. Anti-Cosmo's wedding band is made of a non-leather material and he got excited in "Health Bars" when he was gifted a scarf that harmed no animals. - Fun fact, the silver-haired anti-habetrot who gifted him that scarf is Anti-Coriander (Foop's future betrothed), but this was when she was still a stranger. She's also the anti-habetrot who was monitoring Anti-Wanda's vitals in "You'll Never Know," also pre-betrothal. She's always been there...

Having a moment of whimsical joy, decided we're gonna share it. XD So yesterday my sister, mom, and I had a bit of an impromptu girl's night. We watched a few episodes of Say Yes to the Dress, put on some face masks, and painted our nails. Despite loving the look of nail polish, I don't really paint my nails much. I'm an artist, that stuff is so quick to chip with what I do. But I have a couple of special polishes, the Holo Taco stuff, and last night was the night to use them. I've got Purple with Envy and a flakie top coat on my toes, but for my fingers, I have the Aurora unicorn skin top coat. Yeah, you heard me, just a topper, no polish. And guys, I feel so whimsical! It's much thinner than having a coat of colored polish, and it looks great, I feel so cute and magical. Like that pop of iridescence you see when the sun hits the wing of a dragonfly just right. Makes me feel like a fairy. XD I'm gonna see how it holds up, this may be something I do again. I feel really cute!

Part 1
This story had been on my mind for a long time, and I finally got the time to write it! Please let me know if you liked it!
Long ago, in a land far away, there was an enchanted grove in a forest. The grove was home to a village of fairies – small, androgynous humanoid creatures with colourful wings on their backs, most often similar to those of insects. The fairies had made their home there in trees and bushes, weaving twigs and leaves together and creating beautiful but delicate burrows. They were magic, spawn of spirits and animals, and their sole purpose in life was to protect nature.
All was well in this fairy grove on most days. However, there wasn’t peace, not really.
A black sheep – or more likely, a black bird – lived there among them. While most fairies trace their lineage back to insects, this one was born of a magpie. She was taller than them by at least a thumb’s length, and like her avian heritage, she was a troublemaker. Due to her size and manoeuvrability in the air, the magpie would often harass the smaller fairies. Pulling on their legs, hair, and wings, stealing their food, verbally harassing them, and other pranks. The magpie was a nasty fellow, who unsurprisingly had little friends. She lived in a great oak on the edge of the village, claiming a big knothole as her home. It used to be that this tree was the middle of the community, but many of the other fairies relocated when their unpleasant neighbour moved in.
Years had gone by. The harassment never ceased.
Libelle, leader of the village, decided that she had to act.
‐‐-------<@>‐‐-------
“So, you want me to, what? Scare her?” Andreas asked, looking down at the little fairy standing next to where he sat in the clearing. His pants were slightly stained from mud and grass, as was often the case when the fairy’s human friend visited her.
“Yes,” Libelle answered. She was a perfect example of a textbook fairy. Her short hair was light brown and slightly wavy, her dress was handmade from rose petals, and her wings obviously resembled those of a dragonfly. Even her tan skin showed a slight ethereal shimmer. “She picks on us because we’re smaller. It’s time for her to get a taste of her own medicine!” Libelle jumped in the air, her wings dropping fairy dust everywhere as she flew up to Andreas’ face and grabbed onto his glasses.
“I’m not so sure about that, Belle.” The human said softly, as he held up his hands underneath the fairy to give her a better place to land. “I’m not really what you would call an, uh, intimidating person.” Andreas tucked his shaggy blonde hair behind his ears and adjusted his glasses. To say that he was shy was an understatement. Most young men his age had had quite a few brawls to their belt, but Andreas had never been interested in them. “Conflict-avoidant” was what some nicer people called him. “Wimp” or “coward” were terms he was used to.
Consolingly, Libelle placed her hand on his thumb. “Maybe to humans, but not to us little folk. Remember how terrified I was when we first met?”
“And you think I wasn’t?” He laughed. “I grew up hearing all kinds of stories about not angering the fairies of the woods, and there I was holding a crying one in my hands. I thought you were going to curse me!” Andreas thought back to that day years ago. He had been picking wild berries and accidentally grabbed a fistful of fairy instead. Both had been in shock as they locked eyes, but in the end, they had managed to somehow become friends instead.
“Curses aren’t real.” Libelle reminded him. “Witches can curse you. Fairies play tricks.”
“I didn’t know that back then, okay?” Andreas argued. “And as far as this ‘trick’ you have planned for this magpie goes, I’m not sure if it’s not a bit too much?”
Libelle patted his hand. “It’s fine. Not like animals are interested in hunting us. Also, no human ever comes to these woods. A few hours won’t hurt her.”
“If you say so…”
‐‐-------<@>‐‐-------
Libelle was at easy to find, gathering food at one of her usual spots. Dumb thing had a special connection or something to this one redcurrant bush, among others. Not that the magpie could ever relate to that. She didn’t have a special purpose or magic abilities like the other, insect-kind fairies. Couldn’t sprinkle stupid fairy dust wherever she went and make flowers bloom, or other nonsense. No, she was on this earth for one reason alone: To be an utter bastard.
Swooping in from above, the magpie grabbed Libelle from behind and put her in a headlock. “Why, hello there little one,” she taunted, pressing her claws into the ground to balance out the smaller fairy’s struggling. “Good old Libelle. My, you’re always such a nice little perfect picture book fairy, aren’t you? But what’s that?” The magpie let go of Libelle and shoved her to the ground. Quickly, she pressed one of her bird-like legs into the smaller one’s back, preventing her from getting up, and then picked up one of the dropped berries in front of the two. Slowly, she took a bite, but spit it out immediately. “Ew, disgusting!” The magpie dropped the berry in front of Libelle, then squashed it with her other foot. “For someone who is always so prim and proper, you have quite the sour appetite, little Libby. Something’s not right with you.” She laughed, high and catty.
Then suddenly, a whirlwind came crashing through the brambles and yanked the magpie off her victim.
“No, something’s not right with you!” A human yelled at her, holding her in both of his hands and was slightly shaking her back and forth. After a second of disorientation, the magpie began to struggle against his sweaty grip. “Yeah, sucks to get grabbed by someone bigger than you, doesn’t it?” He taunted the magpie with a smile.
Meanwhile, Libby had flown over to them, and had the audacity to land on the giant’s shoulder. Wearing a smug grin, she said, “Let me introduce to you my good friend, Andreas the human. He didn’t like it at all when I told him about your behaviour.”
The magpie wanted nothing more than to smack that stupid smile off her face, to pull on her wings until she screamed and cried. But for now, she kicked her feet against the human’s arms, scratching him until he flinched from the pain and red stained the torn fabric. Finally free, the magpie rose to the skies and flew in a wide circle above the two, before landing on a branch right above him. “Friend, eh? What, the little miss goody two-shoes took pity on a nasty bastard like you? Did she tell you that you’re gonna be a big hero?” The magpie looked down on the man, who still held his scratched-up arms. “Heroes usually aren’t uglier than a troll, and they don’t stink twice as bad, you useless sack of shit!”
That seemed to get a reaction out of the hideous brute. Good. “Am I wrong? You can’t amount to anything on your own with a face like that. Hah, I bet not even your mother loves you, having a revolting visage like you do.”
“Stop it, you- you vile bird!” The human protested, which made the magpie only more agitated. She rose to the skies again and circled right above the ugly giant, high enough that he couldn’t grab her.
“Troll! Ogre! I bet you trip over your own feet! You’re sweaty and you smell like you’re taking your daily bath in a sewer!” The magpie was yelling out insults at full blast, even daring to swoop down and pull on single strands of the man’s hair. “The fairy princess and the human orc, what a fitting pair!”
Then something happened as she swooped down again. Suddenly, she was restricted inside a… net! Had the bastard just played weak to lure her back in? “Let me go, you rotten, disgusting, vomit-inducing-“ the magpie kept swearing, all the while Libelle cheered and the human bound the net into a bag. Pulling and biting at the mesh proved fruitless. The assholes had somehow made one from pure iron.
“That’s what you get from being a vile, mean bully!” Libelle yelled gleefully, while her ugly friend fastened the net to a branch. “Maybe hanging here for a few hours will make you reconsider how you act with other people.” They turned around and walked away, leaving the magpie speechless for a second.
“You- How dare you! Libby you insolent idiot, come back right now! I will rip out your wings for this, do you get me?!”
‐‐-------<@>‐‐-------
They weren’t lying. Hours passed and nobody came back to free her. The magpie yelled insults and threats a few times in case anyone was near, but nobody appeared. Occasionally, some animals would come to check it out, but it wasn’t like they could help her. Being one with nature just wasn’t in it for her. Leave it to the stupid grove fairies to cuddle with squirrels and befriend sparrows. All the magpie got were a few crows curiously nipping at her until she hurled insults at them too. For the most part, the magpie was left hanging there alone. Not before long, lying on the wire net began to hurt. Worst of all, thanks to the bumbling human troll, one of her feathers was completely bent!
Then she heard it - there was the sound of a huge fool tumbling through the bushes and trampling the grass. “Finally there you are you gross idiot! I swear Libby, you and all your stupid little friends will-“ Standing before her at eye level wasn’t the ugly four eyes. This human was slender, refined, with long dark hair pulled back into a perfect ponytail. Actually, he wore glasses too. He seemed just as surprised as she was. “Who the fuck are you?!”
The human didn’t answer. Slowly, his lips curled into a smile as he kept staring at her. Somehow, it unnerved the magpie. “Hey asshole, I’m talking to you. Are you deaf?” A hand gloved in leather rose up to cup the underside of the net, while the other hand pulled out a knife and began cutting it lose. “Finally, at least you’re useful for something. Can’t believe I have to be rescued by some other human idiot.”
“Who said anything about ‘rescue’?” The human said calmly, his voice pleasant as if they were talking about the weather.
“What?” asked the magpie, confused. His expression did not falter as he kept working. The fairy now noticed that he wasn’t cutting the mesh – he was simply cutting the leash binding the net to the tree, while his other hand wasn’t just cupping her, it was gripping the loops. “No. No, you will let me go you prim and proper wannabe woodsman, you hear me? Do you know what will happen to you if you treat a fairy like this? I will curse you! I will course your wrinkly, hairy ass for at least 5 generations, you hear me?!”
The fingers holding onto the net suddenly yanked at it, making the magpie tumble. “Please, don’t take me for a fool, little fairy. I know that your kind does not do curses.” He yanked again and again, until finally, the leash broke. Before she could even look for an opening, the other hand dropped the knife and grabbed her out of the air. One of her wings was squished uncomfortably to her back, while the other one was stretched out, equally uncomfortable.
“You rotten bastard! Let me go this instant, or I will make your life hell. I don’t even need a curse to do it!” He ignored her, instead focusing on the wing in front of his face. Slowly, almost gently, his finger ran down the individual feathers, as if he was counting them. He stopped at the one that was bent. With one swift motion, he yanked it out.
The magpie screamed, clawing and thrashing against his grip, while the human dropped the bloody black-and-white feather to the ground. “I have no need for damaged tools,” he informed her, his stupid voice betraying no emotions.
“You’re the one that’s got some kind of damage!” She shouted at him, ready to hurl more insults at the human, until she noticed that he moved her to his bag. “No. No, I said no! You asshole, are you deaf?!”
“Oh shut up, will you? You’re the most foul-mouthed fairy I’ve ever seen!” He hissed, and with one hasty motion stuffed her into his bag. The human closed it shut, making sure that the trapped creature had no means to escape, before turning on his heels and walking back from where he came.
‐‐-------<@>‐‐-------
“Don’t you think that we may have left her there a bit too long?” The human worried loudly. They slowly walked – well, he walked; Libelle sat on his shoulder. The leaves of trees and bushes were cloaked in the golden light of the setting sun as they made their way through the forest
His fairy friend just shrugged. “Believe me, she once set up a honey trap that had Hummel and some others stuck to a tree for days before we could get them out. I think she got off easy.” Libelle jumped off his shoulder and flew around a tree and high into the sky. “Now, magpie, did you calm down a bit?”
There was no answer. In general, the area was way too quiet in general.
Andreas and Libelle shared a worried look, before running into the clearing. The very much silent and empty clearing. The magpie was gone.
“Oh no, she’s surely planning her revenge right now.” The fairy flew around, scanning the trees and bushes. “Magpie? Magpie! You can come out now, you know? I don’t care what you’ve got planned!”
Meanwhile, Andreas inspected where the magpie had been bound to. The branch was showing signs of damage, specifically scratches done with a blade. Then there was the fact that only the leather leash he had used was lying on the ground, definitely cut in two, and no sign of the actual iron wire net. The man knelt down and found a twisted and bent black-and-white feather lying on the ground. “I… I don’t think she’s still around here…” He whispered, horrified by the revelation of how their “little prank” had gone wrong.
“Wait, what are you saying? That she was-“ Libelle did not dare to finish that thought. She didn’t want it to be real. Sure, she wanted for the magpie to get a little payback, but not like that!
“It… seems like there’s been a human here,” Andreas spoke out the fact, his mouth dry. “And they probably cut her lose. And, I mean, it’s possible that they couldn’t free her from the net with the tools they hadat hand, but, uh…”
They both looked at the path of broken twigs and scattered leaves. Finally, Libelle broke the silence.
“Shit.”

pestilence au dump time :D this time ft dawn and hyrule!
hyrule is 15 and is a sophomore though he missed a lot of school as a child so his grades aren't great. fable helps him study
hyrule's family was killed in a house fire when he was 5. somehow he escaped (possibly by some miracle hmmmm) and since then has been passed from home to home
hyrule currently lives with extremely distant relatives. or at least that's what he's been told. nobody has any idea how he relates to them
mabe is a blue collar suburb of castle town. most of the houses are built up rather than across and are close together. a lot of mabe is lower and lower middle class
hyrule's guardians are in the lower income class and he's often left to his own devices as they have 3 (much younger) children of their own. he's not close to his current guardians nor their kids
hyrule basically lives with tarin and his family
hyrule's of fae descent though he's unaware of this
hyrule and legend often share clothes and a bed
legend and fable are hyrules only friends and the three of them are mostly inseparable
hyrule struggles to fit in with people. he doesnt like the city and is very outdoorsy. hes a bit of a pushover so gets bullied often
hyrule doesnt eat meat typically and has a major sweet tooth
hes very good with gardening and enjoys flowers
dawn is 13 and is an 8th grade junior high student
she's from castle town
dawn is blind from birth, though she can make out light. she cant make out the color of the light but she can see when it moves or changes
dawn usually has a cane. she does not have a seeing eye dog
aurora is dawns older sister by 2 years
dawn often wears skirts and tights. she wears sunglasses as a protective measure to keep her eyes from getting damaged further but they were left at home when she and aurora fled
dawn has a very small amount of the divine bloodline. both she and aurora are capable of using magic but only dawn can use divine magic.
dawns parents wanted her to have fulfilling life where she chose her path so kept her magic hidden from the temple so she wouldn't be forced into clergy against her wishes
dawn is quite small for her age and often gets mistaken for being 10-11
dawn's eyes looking the same as a seeing person's, so she often gets mistaken for not "actually" being blind
dawn relies on hearing and touch for most of her sensory information. touch is the most valuable to her
she's extremely shy but can be noisy once shes comfortable
the kokiri forest is within the lost woods in this au
there are multiple skull children but only one Skull Kid. the title changes depending on who won the last game. the Skull Kid gets a staff with bells and dried deku seeds
skull children are capable of illusory magic and usually use it for mischief purposes. while not malicious, they will often play with lost children until those children inevitably become another skull child
the current Skull Kid is several centuries old.
the koroks are the great deku trees direct servants more or less. they tend to the tree and look after the forest
the fairies are humanoid, just incredibly small. they have a variety of wing styles--butterfly, dragonfly, be etc and often have skin in shades of pastel colors rather than typical skin tone. most fairies are androgynous and wear simple outfits made from leaves/flowers/small trinkets
fairies rarely leave the forest as birds eat them
there's less magic present in hyrule so the lost woods are mostly thought to the be a fairytale. the forest only becomes the lost woods when the fog rolls in
the great deku tree watches over the sacred grove, one of the few holy grounds left in modern hyrule
the fairy queen also lives in the kokiri forest, although she hasn't made herself present in a very long time

@galacticnova3 submitted: Some nice bugs of 2022, all located in Texas. IDs welcome!
•Trained attack moth/potato fairy, possibly a white-dotted prominent?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•A very expressive-looking katydid who would be at home in the Bee Movie I think
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•Less expressive green orthopteran that freshened up a bit before biting me, despite having climbed onto my finger of its own volition because it was on the ground and I knew this species liked hanging out in some ornamental grass a small distance away. Pictures taken seconds before disaster(and by disaster I mean oof ouch)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
•A very patient tiger beetle; I’m really proud of this picture considering I got it by holding a magnifying glass in front of my phone and turning it upside down! POV you are very small and having a conversation with a bug on a sidewalk
Tumblr media
•A dragonfly that didn’t mind me getting so close to take a picture; it might not be brightly colored or showy but I still think it’s gorgeous!
Tumblr media
A great group of pals! The moth could be a white-dotted prominent based on what I can see, but I’d need a clearer shot to say for sure. IDing katydids is easier when I can clearly see the wing shape and venation! Just from the front angle, I’d say maybe a common true katydid. Can hardly blame the next one for biting you, I might bite if a giant picked me up, too. Looks like one of the meadow katydids.
GREAT photo of the tiger beetle! Very impressive since they are usually running around at top speed. That one looked like a Carolina metallic tiger beetle, but again, it’s easier when I can see the whole bug and all their markings. And the very lovely dragonfly looks like a twelve-spotted skimmer!
For the future, I prefer just a couple bugs per ID request submission! Makes it easier for me :)
