PSA #2: BLOOD MERIDAN
If you have ever wondered about the hype over the Cotmac McCarthy book Blood Meridian ----at once hailed as the greatest historically accurate western ever written, and a novel so gore soaked and violent that all attempts to adapt it into a film have completely failed--- and want to know more before you read, or if you are like me and already know you cannot handle the violence, cruelty, and utter desolation of the novel but still want to know what it is about,
THIS IS FOR YOU.
youtube
Watch a little or watch a lot if you are interested into this novel at all this is the video for you.
This channel offers also the greatest analysis of TV movie, and video game villains I have ever seen and I am completely addicted.
Any and every villain you can imagine is analyzed and broken down for their motivations and everything else, in videos that spanned between 20 minutes and 4 hours!!

Summary of the Composite Canon Derivative Character Settings for the Great Triumvirate of Antebellum:
Daniel Webster: A legendary Cthulhu Mythos investigator and master of exorcism through witty arguments. He possesses a cryptid-attracting aura that he somehow encounters UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animals) wherever he goes. As the guardian of courts, he travels between "fiction" and "reality". His true love isn’t the sea serpent(Leviathan)Samanthy but a ram named Goliath on his farm in Marshfield.
John Calhoun: A vampire slave owner and America’s premier dark conjuror of the antebellum era. A cult/heretic leader with the ability to effortlessly summon and defeat Devils. After 1850, he somehow behave like a fresh corpse or walking dead—dead but not entirely deceased—and occasionally rises from his grave. In the Gallatin Universe, he served as president, hinting he might even be an anarchist.
Henry Clay: A raccoon spirit known for playing the violin and licking his thumbs. Shake him, and a deck of cards might fall out of his pockets. As the leader of raccoons, he throws wild raccoon parties (and harasses Democrats), a feat vaguely mentioned on Wikipedia’s "Raccoon" page (/jk). Though his official derivative content is comparatively less than the other two, the abundance of APUSH memes compensates to some extent. Still, he is 99% unlikely to ever become president.

i don't actually think that the cult follows the 10 commandments. mostly due to the idolatry clause being severely violated as well as graven image (commercialism is at the core of this cult); but rather follows the fourteen tenets of the philosophy of the american civil religion; with special focus placed upon the sword (washington), the key (franklin), and the scroll (jefferson) and reaffirms the american exceptionalism that the cult exhibits. if i HAD to create a spiritual hierarchy it would essentially be thus - zachary as both prophet-president and god himself; followed by the messiah figure of elizabeth who will become prophet-president afterwards, then amelia as a spiritual figurehead. zachary's narrative intertwines the two women with himself (they are zachary; and yet not) to the point where they cannot exist independently without him. the family itself becomes a pseudo holy trinity; with zachary the father, elizabeth the son, and amelia as the holy spirit. after that would be the angel of columbia (or rather; 'the spirit of america' which is a byproduct of manifest destiny - here she operates via the god is sovereign tenet to legitimize zachary and columbia as well as acting as an archangel messenger for him), and the 'saints' of the three founding fathers (washington, jefferson, franklin). columbia operates as the mormon ideal of a theocracy and is a combination of american civil religions with a THIN veneer of christianity in front of it.

I find it genuinely funny that I haven't been able to get myself working on the history project I want to research and write about, yet I've managed to accumulate nearly three-dozen books for it, as well as over two-hundred PDFs.
You know, just so I have a good assortment of readings on-hand for if and when I actually get myself back around to this.
