It's been a year and I fianlly got around to working on and finishing my Xie Lian poster (at least I'm calling it a poster)

I redrew it uuuuh 3 times before changing around and reworking complete parts of it and it still doens't have a background that I enjoy but hey maybe y'all will like it <3

He's a lil note sheet on the appearances here i guess, with my semi-chaotic notes.

Also, although I drew them together, i'm going to post the the matching Hua Cheng one seperately then maybe tac the other onto it if that makes sense. We'll see

after book two and the donghua i've gotten so terribly attached to fang xin goushi, i can't get enough of him, he's my beautiful traumatized near-calamity mystery man trying desperately to stop history from repeating himself and to give a young prince the dreams and wonders and ideals that were taken from him, to make sure the people of xianle found new homes in the kingdom of yong'an without war or prejudice and now he finally has the chance to give them what he couldn't all those years ago, even if it's from beneath a mask.

Goushi is the best

Goushi is definitely my favourite in the entire book. His interaction with hualian are just hilariously epic! For example.......

1. Scolding the ghost king to show proper respect to the elder.

honestly i'm trying not to be a hater because ultraz is obviously just filling the obligatory pseudo-antagonistic new unit role that every new season of an idol anime seems to need

but even though they do work hard, they are making tsubasa's work more difficult. it's not only their fault that her job has been so overwhelming lately, and the primary blame still lies on the agency that's running her ragged, but their behavior is not helping in the slightest

sucks that eisuke feels neglected or like she favors b-pro, but honestly goushi said nothing wrong. tsubasa is legit just so busy these days that she doesn't have time to eat, and this kid wants to sulk because when she finally gets a chance to grab a bite it isn't with him. that is childish

if goushi did anything wrong, yeah, maybe he shouldn't have implied they don't do any "real" work when he doesn't watch their content. but wtf was eisuke on about "you're the childish one for calling me childish" no tf he is not dude you were being childish

anyway for the love of god someone please give tsubasa the break she deserves

sometimes i like to imagine that xie lian kept the sword fang xin after his second banishment not just because of wu ming's sacrifice, but also because the sword will not part from him;

he tries it for a while, to get rid of the thing that has caused him so much pain and terror and that gives him waking nightmares every time he looks at it, by pawning it, throwing it into the river, burying it deep underground, but no matter what he does, when he wakes, it will be right there at his hip; and so he keeps it, tries to forge it into something new instead, something that is used to defend, to protect, like wu ming did with him. he uses it to teach lang qianqiu, so it might bring something good into the world, and he uses it to defend yong'an, so that it (and he) might repent for the damage done.

he keeps it as a reminder of the thing he was, and that he never wants to be again

(and yet it still ends buried in the king's chest, in a hall filled with death, a blade drenched in blood; and it finds him again, years later, when the very student he taught with it asks him to kill - one more time)
