A man sits alone in a dark room with a table.
On the table is a weird glass structure currently dropping sand into its lower container, a stack of parchment, ink and feather, and a sundial which is placed in a beam of light coming from the only window.
Besides the table is a huge bag of sand.
The sand inside the glass finishes pouring into the lower container and at the same time the man looks over to the sundial.
He loathes what he sees and sighs thinking about where it all went wrong, where he could be right now, seeing the sun, felling the grass on his skin as he sits on a hill, smelling loafs of fresh baked bread from the bakery that was only open every so often, but he remembers what he promised the world.
A moment passes in the room before he picks up a small parchment shaped like a tiny rectangle sitting on other stacks of parchment shaped the same. Then he writes slowly and methodically on the parchment.
58 minute glass.
He waits a moment looking at the structure with the parchment now stuck on. He picks it up and places it in the back of the room where dozens more of the same structure sit, waiting, mocking. He steps outside the room and moves a spare closet that us previously full of various goods and pastry's, taking out another of the same structure and returning to the room.
The chair creeks as he sits back down and places the glass structure on the table once more, then screwing of the detachable lid from the structure. He lifts the bag of sand and pours in this time a extra handful of sand into the glass and screws the lid back on.
He promised on that day when he asked his good friend the time and he crushed his feet with that dam sundial, no one would ever have to guess the time when it was cloudy again.
He sighs before looking at the sundial, remembering the time, then flips the glass and watches.

If I think about my indie bands post for too long I get upset with how people have turned a post that was just "Hey it's kinda fucked up how people use thinly-veiled homophobic and ableist language to insult the fanbases of bands/artists" to mean "Don't give in to peer pressure! Like all the corny stuff you want!" which, true, yeah, but that's not the original post. The post wasn't just about being made fun of for liking stuff it was also for people using autistic and queer as a direct insult to devalue the person listening to it

I like to think that pre canon both AFO and Izuku visited the same online forums where people came together to discuss quirks and often debated with each other about pro hero quirks lol. Their first conversation ever was arguing over aspects of All Mights quirk because AFO said something insulting about him.
Izuku finds AFO abrasive, but creates some of the most fascinating analysis he's ever read that he wonders if AFO is some kind of quirk counselor or doctor who specializes in studying quirks in real life.
AFO finds it refreshing to see someone share the same enthusiasm about quirks like he does and enjoys reading and challenging Izuku's own theories at times.
I wouldn't call it friendship.... but more like two people finding common ground in sharing a hobby that almost no one else cares for.
#at least afo has the doctor to yap to about quirks poor izuku just gets called weird by everyone around him for it#though I do think in the movie thing hori made his classmates read his journal about their quirks and liked it#so he has that now I think#anyways izuku sees afo go offline after the kamino incident and never comes back online again after#he assumes he died as he used to be online everyday for years and feels sad about it but nothing he can do#he misses their talks because they did help keep him going when things felt bleak in middle school#if only he knew ahaha#tempted to maybe write a fic or would just like to see someone write this I have many ideas on it#izuku unknowingly witnesses a very human side of afo that others never see these days#I think afo would've made his account after becoming potato because he has to sit in one place for long amounts of times and got bored#so he browses the web and finds the forum#izuku prob made his account when he was 10#afo#izuku midoriya
