me, clearly ignoring rational thought: you know i think kaiya probably planted flowers on her papa’s grave, maybe red spider lilies considering their symbolism. but it’s kind of sad bc i imagine she had a hard time visiting her father’s grave for a while bc shortly after he died, her mom would sit there for hours no matter how much kaiya would try to convince her to come home; her mom wouldn’t come with her until the sun began to set. so not only was her father’s grave difficult to visit bc kaiya couldn’t properly grieve and process his death, but it was also a place seeped in her mother’s sorrow, too. 

i don’t think she even truly grieves her father and her own life that was sort of taken from her until years later, after the main storyline, when she finally revisits her hometown, reunites with her mom, and finally has the courage to visit her father’s grave by herself. and she sees the spider lilies are blooming beautifully, that her mother has clearly taken care of them, and a weight kind of lifts from her chest. this weight has been with her since her dad died, since she left to get married, since she remembered who she was -- this worry that her mother wouldn’t recover, wouldn’t be able to take care of herself without kaiya there to support her, would crumble at the loss of her daughter. she’s worried for decades that she’d come home and realize her mother struggled because she wasn’t here, and---

her mom was okay. she survived, she moved on, she lived. she took care of her husband’s grave, hard as it may have been. she was okay despite everything, and it’s such a relief to kaiya. and it hurts a little too, bc maybe this was always the case. maybe her mother was always strong enough to care for herself and pick herself up, but kaiya simply couldn’t trust that to be true. maybe it was kaiya’s fear of losing another parent that drove her to shoulder so much of the burden rather than her mother’s need for help.

so kaiya cries out of relief; out of sorrow; and finally, her heart begins to heal.

Musing about the mechanics of claw problems.

Logan's claws are operated by muscles that push them out, of course, but there is an undeniable emotional element that affects his physical response.

Adrenaline, danger, anger. Those usually get the claws out, no hesitation. Even when he isn't operating in fight-or-flight, he can usually get them out. Mostly, when he'd calm and collected, when there isn't pressure and he isn't thinking too hard about it.

Wade's seen it. Logan will sometimes push them out and cut open a package or slice off a zip tie. They've driven outside of the city and fought each other to release steam once or twice. Laura and Logan compared theirs over dinner once.

But it's different when there's pressure. Expectations.

He didn't choose the claws for himself, nor did he choose the healing factor, but yet, those things were inherently tied to the way he'd been perceived his whole life.

You were made for this, Logan. How many times had someone uttered those words?

There are always expectations, like heavy fucking weights on his shoulders. Every group of people that welcomed him into their lives had done so with the assumption that he had something to give, whether it was intentional or not.

The claws, the healing factor, the animalistic side of him. Those were often more important than Logan.

So he's anxious, always worried someone is going to need the weapon, The Wolverine, and he develops an anxiety response, freezing up, unable to force his claws out.

But with Wade, things are different. Wade doesn't have expectations for The Wolverine. Logan's just his fucking boyfriend.

But there are times where Logan wants to use the claws, when he wants to join Wade on a job. Wade learns that fucking the claws out works, realizing that it's a distraction, but both he and Logan know it can't always be the solution.

So Wade starts to try different things to help. He gives Logan massages, pulls Logan into a firm hug, holding him close. Wade makes Logan a playlist of grounding songs, runs him baths, forces Logan to drink water and eat good meals. He cuddles Logan like he fucking means it, wraps around him, holds Logan close for as long as he can manage.

Wade loves on him, treats Logan like he's worthy to exist even if all he wants to do is sit his ass on the couch and read the newspaper like he's fucking ninety.

And lo and behold, that's all Logan really needed to begin with.

i said this once but woody learned to knit!!! he often knits his own clothes because it gives him more control over what he wears and the feel of the clothes

blocky has the longest and most beautiful eyelashes ever. i will not argue with anyone on this.

woody has small patches of missing hair because he would pull it out when he got severely frustrated

woody has a bit of a mullet and keeps his hair in a half ponytail. blocky insists they cut it but woody doesn't want to change it up so they just chop off small bits every couple months

woody and blocky live together but every now and then they'll go on a date and not let themselves see the other until it's time to leave 4 tha date (kind of like with weddings where you don't see the bride until the ceremony thing)

woody has a habit of waking up early. blocky stays up late. so sometimes blocky will get tired and go into Woody's room and lay next to him until he wakes up, then falls asleep holding woody

once blocky mentioned how he loved a specific food or pastry and whenever woody notices blocky is down he'll make it for him

woody listens to those snore-blocking audios when there's a lot of noise around him and he needs to concentrate

blocky and woody listen to mcr and weezer together but cannot name more than two songs for either band (the two songs they CAN name for each band are their favorite 1s)

despite having learned to talk late, woody enjoys and is very good at reading. he'll occasionally read to blocky but he always falls asleep so they just end up cuddling
