I don’t know how to phrase this ask properly 😭 but how do you like… know nart and write fics when u’ve not read or watched it? I’m so confused. (I don’t mean this rudely or anything I’m genuinely????? Because there is So much. How????? Im actually flabbergasted this is so wild to me😭 😭 😭)
Don't worry, I'm not offended! I've been asked this before and I'm always happy to talk about it.
The short answer is that I don't need to know canon to feel comfortable in a fandom space or to consume the works made by and for that fandom.
The long answer is much, much longer so I'm putting it behind a cut.
There are two parts to why I'm like this, and the first one is the fandom I started out in.
My first fandom was the X-Men and I began with the very first X-Men comic - The X-Men #1. (Yes, it was published in 1963. Yes, I'm fandom old… 🤣) From there I jumped to the wider Marvel comics universe as a whole.
And with every new storyline, with every change in the creative team, I just accepted the stories as they came.
When people died, often several times over (Jean Grey, I am looking at you), when they time travelled, met their alternate selves, became villains, became heroes, changed their costumes/personalities/de-aged/became old/got married/forgot they were married/pretended they forgot they were married (Vision, whyyyyyy), I just kept reading.
I got used to the idea that the characters were always the same characters but that they'd be constantly changing, be written differently by every new writer, and that they were always in flux.
This meant that - to me - canon wasn't a stable static thing. No, it was a fluid amorphous collection of ideas, simultaneously recognised by creators, publishers, and fans alike.
Because fans have always had an impact on comics.
Dead characters come back because fans want to read about them again and creators are keen to make it happen. Characters are redeemed to become heroes or fall to become villains because fans want to read those stories and creators want to tell them. Characters get spin off mini-series (and sometimes whole series) because fans will buy those comics.
Fans are a crucial part of the creative process.
I've always accepted transformative work - because what else is a new creative team coming in to make Jane Foster the new Thor but a stunning piece of transformative work? - as an equal to canon.
Because, to me, it is.
I consume both kinds with equal facility and ease, without thinking of either as less than the other.
Here's the second part - I will follow professional creators from story to story, from series to series, and enjoy it because I like their style.
I won't like every work, probably not, but there's a high probability that I will enjoy at least some of them and I'll buy those works because of it.
Because I like Honor Harrington, I've also read David Weber's Safehold series. Because I like the Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey, I've also read her Heirs of Alexandria series and her Five Hundred Kingdoms stories. Because I love Sandman, I've also read Good Omens (multiple times, it is excellent), Neverwhere, Stardust, and American Gods. Because I love Summer Wars, I've also made it a point to watch other films by Mamoru Hosoda, including Wolf Children and Mirai. I fell in love with Inception and then went on to watch other Christopher Nolan films - some were to my taste (Dunkirk, The Dark Knight Rises) and others were not, but I still try and catch them in cinemas where I can.
I don't think that's unusual behaviour.
But I also treat fan work in exactly the same way.
I'll follow a fan author from fandom to fandom, reading stories to see if the new fandom is to my taste. Sometimes, it's not - no harm, no foul, kink tomato - but all to often it is, and that is entirely because of the strength of that author's writing.
Most of the time I don't even touch canon - why would I when I'm here for this author's particular interpretation of it? I don't need to know canon when the author builds the world of their story so beautifully it stands on its own.
And, if by chance the fandom is so much to my taste that I want to consume other works in it, there are other fan work creators! All of them easily accessible! It's marvellous!
I never worry that the works I'm reading are out of character for canon, because I don't care about canon.
For me, reading fanfiction is just like reading original fiction.
Now writing it is quite another matter.
I didn't know that I was going to be writing in the Naruto fandom. My first story in this fandom was supposed to be a 1600 word joke fill for a prompt that wouldn't leave me alone.
But hey, somehow, people asked me what happened next, I knew the answer so I wrote it, and then the whole thing snowballed.
That meant that my ideas of how the world of Naruto worked and what the characters were like was entirely based around fanfiction I'd read.
I acknowledged that at the end of Escape and Evade:
I always intended for this to be a little story, written just for me, because I couldn’t get a drabble from nirejseki and a comment from YumiStar out of my head.
But, along the way, it’s become a bit more than that for me.
I haven’t written fan fiction since 2005 and this has stretched me in ways that I’m not even sure I know yet.
And it’s in a fandom whose cannon I have never actually watched or read.
Which means that my understanding of these characters who I have come to love, is based entirely on the amazing work of the authors who put their time and effort into sharing their stories with the world.
This story is quite literally my love letter to Founders Era Naruto Fandom.
Truly, my little effort stands on the shoulders of giants.
So here I am, and Courting Culture Confusion has become a 648,934 word reboot of Naruto (it's still not over, I'm still publishing a new chapter daily) which means that I have to think about canon! Because how can I reboot it when I don't know what's going on?
And the answer to that is I ask other fans.
As with most fandoms, all I have to say is "I'm thinking about writing this character, would anyone care to tell me what they're like?" and at least six people will pop up to give me their opinions. From there, I'll try and figure out how to make them into a cohesive whole that also matches with what's available in narutopedia (thank you to everyone who works on that, I could not write without it as a handy reference!) and then I sit down to write.
It's really that simple.
So how can I write without knowing canon?
Because you know canon and you're willing to tell me.
Thank you. 💚

Is this a destiny?
*insert that one meme here*
@forduary is technically over, but they’re still taking submissions into March. Sorry it’s so late, I’ve been distracted by other fandoms and spiders apparently declared war on me. ***
When Stanford Pines was still young enough to believe his mother was really psychic, she’d often read his palm, or look into her crystal ball for him on days when he came home crying after the mockery of the local bullies got to be too much. She’d tell him that his extra fingers were a sign that he was special, that he was destined for greatness. And he believed her. Even as he got older and learned that his mother’s psychic powers were really just a combination of keen observations, good luck, and showmanship.
He always hung onto the notion that his abnormality made him special, because the alternative was listening to all the people who said he was just a freak.
As he progressed in school and teachers started to recognize that Ford was a genius, his belief shifted. It was his academic intelligence, not his extra fingers, that made him special. He was destined to change the world with his knowledge, invent or discover things that would make people’s lives better.
If he was recognized for his intelligence then maybe people would think of him as something other than just a freak.
***
For years, Stanford placed all his value on his academic intelligence. It was the only thing standing between him and freakdom, after all. It wasn’t until he got his first Doctorates and started research that his focus shifted again. Rather than working towards some nebulous concept of “Do something great in the field of science in order to gain recognition and rise above the image of a mere freak”, he was going to learn more about anomalies, and what caused them. He was going to make the world appreciate and respect freaks.
The going was slow at first, and Ford found himself losing confidence until one fateful day when he went exploring in the caves above Gravity Falls. He almost didn’t read the incantation out loud when he translated the warning, but nothing ever got done in science if you didn’t experiment. And he was soon rewarded for his risk.
Bill gave Ford purpose like he'd never had before. Finally, he knew exactly what his destiny was: to bring humanity into a new era of enlightenment by connecting them with worlds beyond. Finally, people would understand anomalies instead of fearing or ridiculing them.
Stanford Pines was destined to change the world, and for the first time, he knew exactly how he was going to do it.
***
Change the world. It had seemed so clear at the beginning, but in hindsight, Ford saw through Bill's purposely vague words. All this time, he'd thought he would change the world for the better, but no! The destiny Bill had shown him was to destroy the world, not make it better.
Had this always been his destiny? He thought back on all the people who had been repulsed by him in the past. Had they known? Had they somehow sensed he would bring about the end of the world? Were his fingers some sort of omen or early warning of his eventual fate?
He thought back on all the people who he'd driven away over the years. His brother, his parents, even his best friend. Was that for the best? Had he subconsciously pushed them away so they wouldn't become entangled in his mess?
No! No, he refused to believe this was his destiny! There was no such thing, and he was a fool for believing in it for so long! And if there was no such thing as destiny, then he could still fix this, no matter the cost!
But a small part of him didn't want to let go of that belief. Because if he had no destiny, then he really was just a freak. A freak and fool who'd fallen for a demon's tricks.
***
Out in the multiverse, Ford didn't have a destiny as much as part of him still wanted it. He had a mission: Stop Bill. Kill him, destroy him, whatever it took.
The researcher refused to give up or die until that mission was completed. After that… well, if he was honest with himself, there probably wasn't going to be an "after that". Best not to think past that point.
This mindset got Ford through circumstances he'd never dreamed he'd be able to survive. But eventually, he found himself in a situation he couldn't power through with sheer determination. Caught in a two-dimensional plane, with no way to communicate with its hostile denizens, and no way out. He was trapped, and they were going to kill him before he'd even learned a single thing about Bill's possible origins.
When Ford blacked out, he was sure he was done-for, his mission incomplete. But he awoke in a strange dimension he’d never seen or even heard of before. A towering, seven-eyed humanoid had saved him and healed him. She called herself Jheselbraum the Unswerving, and she claimed to be an Oracle. Ford was skeptical at first. Look what had happened the last time he’d trusted a strange creature claiming to be his muse. Yet, she already knew his name, and his mission. She’d healed him. Most importantly, she was an enemy of Bill, and any enemy of Bill was an ally in Ford’s book. So, he trusted her to perform a dangerous cranial surgery to protect him from Bill’s control in the future.
Towards the end of his recovery, Jheselbraum told Ford he had the face of the man who was destined to destroy Bill. That small part of him that still wished for a destiny latched onto the information. His resolve in his mission had never wavered, but the latest near-death experience did make him wonder if it was a hopeless cause. Now, he knew he was destined to destroy Bill, and nothing was going to stop him!
***
Stanford had lost, and Bill had won. Now the only thing standing between the king of the Nightmare Realm and the rest of the universe was Gravity Falls’ Law of Weirdness Magnetism. And Ford was the only one standing between Bill and the formula to reverse it.
Well, “standing” in a metaphorical sense. In reality, he was hanging in chains in Bill’s throne room, awaiting further torture.
Was this the destiny Jheselbraum had told him about, forever locked in a battle of wills with Bill Cipher, so the universe outside this town could carry on? Or was she as fake a psychic as his mother? Ford wasn’t sure which option he liked better.
If this was all destined to happen, then all that work he’d done to protect his family was for nothing. Sure, he was stopping Bill from spreading chaos throughout the universe, and he’d continue to keep the formula a secret for the rest of eternity if he had to, but his niece and nephew, his brother, his last friend, and the town he’d grown to love, they were what he’d really wanted to protect, and Bill had taken them all from him.
But if this wasn’t destiny, then everything that was happening was his own fault. He was the one who’d summoned Bill, who’d let the demon into his mind. He was the one who’d built the portal and failed to heed his friend’s warnings about the danger it posed. He was the one who hadn’t listened to his brother and just destroyed the blueprints and any directions on how to operate the thing. He was the one who’d failed to seal the rift, all because he’d entrusted its safety to his nephew, who was just a little boy and never should have been involved in something as horrible as this. He was the one who’d upset his niece by asking her brother to stay there in Gravity Falls, which led to her running off with the rift. He was the one who’d failed to tell her what the rift was or what danger it posed.
His choices. His mistakes. His failure to fix things.
Or no choices. No mistakes. No chance to fix things.
Ford was spared from having to think about it further when Bill and his Henchmaniacs returned from lunch.
***
Jheselbraum had said he had the face of the man who was destined to destroy Bill. Now that Ford stood with the memory gun in hand before his dreaming brother, her odd choice of phrasing suddenly made horrible sense. Part of him wished she’d just spelled it out for him earlier, but he knew if she had, he wouldn’t have believed her.
It wasn’t fair! His brother shouldn’t be the one to pay the price for Ford’s mistakes! Destiny or not, his brother shouldn’t even be involved in this mess! Not for the first time, Ford wished he’d never asked his brother to come to Gravity Falls, but for very different reasons than before.
But they had no other choice. Not if they wanted to save the kids.
Stanford closed his eyes, unable to watch as he pulled the trigger.
***
A few days later, and the kids are busy packing up their things to return to Piedmont. Ford is back from the hospital, and his brother has recovered most of his memories. The old researcher’s mind wanders once again to his destiny. All these years, he’d avoided thinking about what would happen after his final encounter with Bill. He hadn’t expected to survive. But the final encounter with Bill had gone much differently than he’d thought, and Ford finds himself wondering: now what?
“What’s goin’ on in that big head of yours?” someone asks to his left. Ford turns to see his brother take a seat beside him.
“Just… thinking.” Ford answers slowly.
“Yeah, I guessed that part. It’s kinda what you do. I mean what about, genius.”
Maybe it’s the cool night air. Maybe it’s the relief that they all made it through this ordeal in one piece. Maybe it’s the comfort of knowing that he can talk to his brother again. Whatever the case, Stanford finds himself unloading all his thoughts about destiny, about his failures, and how he always seems to push away the people he cares about, or endanger them, or both.
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, I don’t blame you for wantin’ to have a destiny. Everybody wants to feel like they’re special, right?”
“Yes, but… but Stanley, if I never had a destiny, if I’m not… not special, then I really am just a freak.” Ford laments. “A freak and a danger to everyone around me.”
“Ford, look at me.” Stan demands. He turns to look at his brother. “You know those aren’t your only two options, right? Bein’ destined for greatness, or bein’ a freak. That’s stupid! Sure, you got more fingers an’ brains than most people’d know what to do with, and sure, a lot of jerks’ll call you a freak for it, but that doesn’t make it true! You're a man tryin' to live his life, same as anyone!
"As for bein' a danger to everyone else, you don't think I feel the same way? You don't think I cursed the day I agreed to watch the kids for the summer the very first moment they got into trouble with all this town's weird nonsense!? You don't think I worry that one of these days somebody from my drifter days is gonna figure out I'm still alive out here, and they'll come and make trouble for the whole town?
"So maybe you pushed away the people who cared about you before. It ain't too late to change that. You got the kids, especially Dipper, he seems to think you're some sorta hero or something. Your old pal McGucket seems to wanna make amends. And I-" Stan pauses, like he's choosing his next words carefully. "I'm just happy to have you back."
Ford doesn't have words to reply. He manages a weak smile, nods, and takes his brother's hand. Stan's words help a bit, but it's hard to shake these feelings, like he'll always be alone. Like he'll always end up hurting the people he cares about. But the longer he sits there in the company of his brother, the more those feelings fade away.
At least now, sitting here with his brother and looking out at the night sky, he has an idea of what he wants to do with his life next.

Going to attempt to keep this short and sweet, although for actual roleplay I enjoy a good mix of quality and quantity - without branching into purple prose.
21+ (seeking 18+ partners for 18+ characters) and currently residing in the UK. I am looking for someone who is down for regular replies. Whilst I understand and respect that real life comes first, I’m unfortunately without much to do until September so I’m looking for long-term distraction.
I have no limits but would ALWAYS respect yours. I enjoy slow-burn, forbidden romance, angst, fluff, smut... everything under the sun. Let’s discuss what we enjoy. I’m down for OOC chattering and would like a partner who is happy to share pictures, playlists etc. But this isn’t a requirement, just something I enjoy!
I also love side characters. I’m not keen on doubling per se but I love being able to write and give personality and story to other characters. Parents, friends, that random girl in the coffee shop... let’s make them stand out. I typically enjoy m/m and f/f mains only but I am happy to include m/f as a side ship and play any gender.
Okay. The good stuff! Bold is who I want to play.
Fandoms:
La Casa de Papel
- Berlin/Palermo
- Palermo/Helsinki
- Nairobi/Tokyo
I have got various plots in mind for any of these ships, both canon and AU.
Doctor Who
- Clara/12
- Jack Harkness/The Doctor (Open to any Doctor from 9-12.)
The Umbrella Academy
- Diego/Klaus
So, it’s coming back soon! Anyone else excited? I’m buzzing to see them all again. In terms of Diego and Klaus, I’ve seen a few cute pieces of art around that I’ll link my partner to and would love to pull from. One that recently hit my pinterest feed was a Pushing Daisies (anyone remember that??) AU in which Diego is still a cop and Klaus helps him solve crimes by communicating with the dead. We could take this anywhere. Make it that they’re still related and wind up reconnecting - either in a different way or as canon with Reginald’s death. Or we can have it that they meet randomly and don’t know each other, maybe Klaus gets arrested and in a drug-fuelled state ends up babbling about something that helps Diego and Patch solve their case.
So open to other ideas for these two!!!!
Misfits
- Nathan/Simon
I’d also be very happy to work with a crossover between TUA and Misfits with any sort of crossover pairing or just working with the different characters. Also more than happy to just write Nathan/Simon on their own. Maybe how things would have played out if they’d got together.
Vis a Vis (Locked Up)
- Maca/Zulema
- Saray/Zulema
Kingsman
- Harry/Eggsy
Would love a AU for this. Let’s make them the same age, living in different parts of the city. Class differences. Maybe they meet when Harry sneaks away from his family and ends up near the estate. Forbidden romance. Secret meetings. Angst galore.
Originals:
- M/M or F/F. Character A and their opposite sex partner seem like the perfect couple living the perfect life. Then Character A’s partner announces they are going abroad to stay with their family for a while. Suddenly Character A finds themselves infatuated with Character B, their partners cousin/childhood friend/distant sibling... Lots of drama available here. Slow burn. Forbidden romance. Summer romance. I would prefer to play Character B for this!
- M/M or F/F. Heist. Not much of a plot for this but I would love to work with a LCDP vibe. This could be robber/hostage or robber/robber. Although you don’t necessarily have to have watched La Casa de Papel for this, I would be keen to have someone willing to do a bit of research into the premise. I would like to play a robber in this. I don’t like playing ‘strictly good or strictly bad’ characters nor do I like trying to make bad people seem actually good but with the nature of LCDP, I’d enjoy there being a good reasoning behind the robbery. A revolution of sorts.
- M/M. Small Town Monster. Kind of Stranger Things. Character A is a Police Chief/Politician/Beloved figure in the town. Maybe a widow? Maybe a father? Older. Character B is a bit of a trouble maker, petty crime etc. When trouble comes to the boring town in the form of some sort of creature, the two of them end of coming together to fight it and love blooms along the way. More forbidden love. Age gaps (all 18+) and secret meetings in the midst of chaos. I’d like to play Character B for this!
- Good Omens type story. Angels and demons hate each other (obviously) and are always trying to one up each other. This time, Hell decides to send a Demon in disguise to Heaven. Let’s just pretend it’s plausible. What the demon never expected was to end up very attracted to an Angel. Funny workplace shenanigans. Angst. Smut. Forbidden romance. A big event overarching? Let’s chat. I’d like to play the Angel as well as taking on any angelic or demonic side characters.
Human/Demon with a twist. The apocalypse has come, but instead of zombies it is simply the rise of the supernatural. The creatures are living in the ruins of the new world, ruled by a King (Demon or really any supernatural creature). Humans, like in all apocalypse stories, are fighting for their lives. Constantly on the move. Killing each other as well as the creatures. Several of them have formed large groups in an attempt to end this horror show. I’d like for there to be some sort of threat to the supernatural community too, beyond just humanity. An ancient creature who some of them worship and believe to be a more fitting King, perhaps.
More forbidden love tales, as one day a human in one of those groups fighting the supernatural ends up hurt. I would really like to start this off with either a supernatural creature or the actual King (in disguise or not) helping to patch him up. I would like to play the human, as well as taking on any human or supernatural side characters!
- Bring me YOUR ideas! I’ll hear anything out and be honest about what I think and if I’d be interested or if we would vibe. Let’s chat!

Driving Lesson, Fictober #1
Genre: Fanfiction
Fandom/Pairing: Good Omens, Crowley/Aziraphale
Warnings: No warnings apply
Prompt: “It will be fun, trust me.”
“It will be fun, trust me.”
Aziraphale studied the steering wheel in front of him sceptically. “I highly doubt that”.
“Angel” Crowley sighed, “We did agree that now we’ve got nothing left to worry about, we can do what we want…”
“And me learning to drive is what you want –“
“Hey” Crowley snatched his left hand off the wheel and pressed a kiss against it. “That’s not what this is about. Thing is, since we finally talked, we’ll be spending a lot of time together, and I want the two loves of my life to get along when we do.”
Aziraphale felt himself blushing furiously. This was just the kind of thing Crowley did and said all the time now, ever since their bus drive back to his place and the talk they’d had there. When Aziraphale had asked him after the first couple of days why he felt the need to be so utterly romantic, he’d looked him in the eyes and said “I’ve been waiting for this long enough, angel” and that had been that. He’d been steadfastly ignoring his hints that he’d like a more explanatory answer ever since.
And yet there could be no mistaking the gestures he’d bestowed on him in the last few months, no thinking he was just trying to tempt Aziraphale to his side – something the angel had been very good at pretending at, for the first few centuries – no telling himself that they were at best friendly adversaries, not even friends.
And now Crowley only wanted this little thing. Just wished for Aziraphale to learn how to drive.
“What do I do then, dear?” he asked softly. In all the years Crowley had had the Bentley, he’d been content – and sometimes terrified – sitting next to him. If he had paid attention to him at all, it had most certainly not been because he had any desire to pick up on his driving techniques.
“Oh. Right” Crowley looked pleased; Aziraphale wished he’d take off the sunglasses so he could see his eyes – he loved it how they glittered in the sunlight; but Crowley wasn’t so far to leave them behind quite yet, not yet comfortable enough even if it were just the two of them, but they would get there – “So first of all you have to turn on the motor.”
“But there’s no key in the ignition” Aziraphale pointed out, feeling rather smug as he did so. There. He knew some things about cars.
Crowley rolled his invisible eyes. “That’s because I would never do that to my dear girl” he all but cooed at the car. “Just tell her to start. Nicely.”
Aziraphale had known that Crowley poured quite a bit of magic and miracles into the Bentley, of course – otherwise, especially considering his driving style, there’d hardly have been a chance that the car would have survived the past ninety years. Still, this seemed to be a bit excessive.
But that was what they had saved the world for, wasn’t it? So they could indulge and be together.
So he very gently told the Bentley with his mind that he’d like to take a drive now, please, because Crowley wished them to, and suddenly the motor was on.
Crowley grinned. “See? Told you.”
He nodded, then gripped the steering wheel.
“Oh no” Crowley rubbed a hand over his knuckles “This is supposed to be a nice experience for all of us. You have to relax.”
“I have no idea what I’m doing” he confessed.
“That’s alright, you’ve got me and the Bentley to take care of you” Crowley told him with the expression of a demon who hadn’t known what to do when he first purchased his beloved horseless carriage either and had early on become determined never to learn the way humans did but was now expecting it of his – lover? He supposed they were lovers.
His heart warmed as he thought of them as lovers, and he decided to try and do this.
“We can go as slow as you want, angel” Crowley said, voice rather thick with emotion all of a sudden, “That’s why we’re here.”
Here being in the middle of the night at Tadfield air base, where it all had started, really.
No, Aziraphale suddenly realized; it had started long before then. Maybe even…
He took a deep breath he didn’t really need and decided to try and drive.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Alright, angel, I know I said we could go slow, but you’re driving less than ten miles an hour” Crowley pointed out.
“I am just trying to get the hang of things” he defended himself.
“You won’t if you keep doing thisssssss. You can’t jussssssst drive ten miles an hour in London” Crowley hissed, although his smile rather ruined the overall impression.
“I would say it’s impossible to drive ninety miles an hour in the city, and yet you do so on a regular basis.”
“That’s because I let the streets know who’s boss. You’d just be politely asking them to not inconvenience you. This won’t do” Crowley decided.
He sighed. “Fine.” The car accelerated slightly.
“See? Told you this was fun.”
Aziraphale said nothing, but in truth, he was starting to see why one would just take drives for pleasure. In the past, he had mostly seen the road trips Crowley took him on as more chances to spend time with him, but it was surprisingly pleasant to just sit there and… go somewhere. Even if he’d still have preferred to drive slower, but knowing his demon, he wouldn’t be allowed to.
“Maybe we could put on some music?” he suggested.
Crowley grinned, proving that he too had noticed that Aziraphale was enjoying himself, the pleased, happy smile of someone who’d made his lover happy. “Alright. I just bought these yesterday, so they should be alright –“
And it was indeed Vivaldi’s Four Seasons that started playing instead of Queen, which seemed to be the Bentley’s go-to music, usually.
Aziraphale knew that Crowley mostly listened to classical music when they were together, simply because the angel liked it. Recently though he’d admitted that he’d now and then gone to a concert over the last six thousand years when he’d missed him – “That kid Mozart was really talented, wasn’t he”.
He smiled to himself.
“Good. You’re starting to relax.”
“Of course I’m relaxed, dear. I’m with you.”
And, almost as if it were sentient and could understand what was being spoken, the Bentley’s motor hummed.
To Aziraphale’s utter delight, Crowley blushed. “Both of you should shut up” he muttered, but there was no heat behind it.
“It’s true” Aziraphale told him, because he wanted to see him blush again. He wasn’t disappointed.
They drove on; the guards ignored them due to a convenient miracle Crowley had performed. And anyway, there wasn’t much to guard, was there, they would have said; just computers, and computers only did what the people punching the keys told them, so there was little to no danger there.
Aziraphale smiled to himself once more as he recalled the day of the Apocalypse-that-wasn’t. It had taken him a long time to get to admitting that he and Crowley were on their own side, but he’d got there in the end.
“We should stop soon” he said.
“Why, angel? You already have enough?”
“No” he answered simply, “But I want to hold your hand, and I can’t do that when I’m not supposed to let go of the steering wheel.”
Crowley spluttered. “I – tsk – agh – you can’t just say stuff like that!”
“Why not? You do it all the time.”
“That’s different!”
“How?”
“I told you – I’ve been waiting to do so.”
Aziraphale wanted to ask again, but wasn’t keen on hearing another excuse as to why Crowley wouldn’t answer him, so he didn’t.
Still – eventually, he stopped the car.
They watched the stars from the hood of the Bentley, holding hands.
“I really like doing that one” Crowley told him, pointing at a constellation with his free hand.
“It’s beautiful, dear” Aziraphale replied even though he wasn’t looking at the stars; watching Crowley was enough for now.
Then, before he even knew he’d ask, he quietly added, “How long were you waiting for this?”
At first, he thought he would once more fail to get an answer, but then, Crowley, looking anywhere but at him, quietly replied, “Since some foolish guardian of the Eastern Gate told me they’d given their flaming sword away.”
“Oh Crowley.”
“Yes, yes, well, all over and done with.”
A shy Crowley was something Aziraphale had come to know and appreciate in the months since the world didn’t end. “You were right” he told him softly.
“What about?”
“This – driving is fun.”
Now Crowley looked smug again. “Told you.”
“Yes, dear, you did.”
And he kissed him.

OKAY! Leaving looks out of ask because my face is on my blog icon thingy. I like a lot of music(mostly goth rock) and read and write a lot. I don't talk too much unless I'm friends with the person because of shyness.I'm also legally blind and have problems from that. I'm usually really nice but if someone fucks with my friends I go full Lucifer on them. YOU ARE A GREAT FRIENDO!
Tumblr media
PMs:(Me: Which fandoms?) SC: Good Omens and I guess doctor who.
Hey! I am about 5′3″ too! Short friendos for life!
Your Ship: Crowley
Tumblr media
Totally, totally Crowley is your man. He has had to hold you back from full on attacking any of his demon pals because, well, they treat him like shit and you are ready and keen to throw hands to protect your boy. He also likes to help you with any challenges your vision may cause, always asking what he can do to help. He loves to read your writing and read along side you and if there is eye strain, he will happily read to you if you’ve gotten to a good bit. His voice is really relaxing, so sometimes you will just look at him and hold out the book because uh please? Please read to me? Other times, you just lay down on the bed together and listen to whatever music the two of you want to listen to, in total silence as you just enjoy being in each others company. Loves how you feel comfortable enough to speak to him, he really is someone who needs to be depended on. Also, being 5′3″, he loves to mess around with your height. Leaning on you, pretending that he can’t see you because you aren’t in his eyesight when he looks straight out, pretending it's such a strain to lean down to do anything with you but really, he’s just being a shit because he loves you.
Doctor Who: 9th Doctor
Tumblr media
Again, loves to tease you for your height because he can. He just loves to lean on you when he can because he knows it irritates the living hell out of you when he does it. Repeatedly. Like the little shit he is. The main thing he loves is the constant contact you have, although it took him a little while to get used to the not holding hands and you just clinging onto his elbow. Especially when running. That was a very new and very weird experience. He loves taking you wherever you want to travel, showing you all the sights and sounds, maybe an adventure or two before returning home to pretty much just goof around. He loves to help you in whatever way is needed, being your eyes or whatever you need him to do, he will do happily with a goofy smile on his face. When you go full on Lucifer, he tends to just sit back and watch with a semi-smug grin because its hysterical to see this smol baby bean (you swear you are going to kill Jack for calling you that, period, but especially in the Doctor’s presence) get all prissy. He will hold you back if it goes too far but for the most part? Let’s you go.

good omens fic recs, post six
I am continuing to read Good Omens fic and find more great things to love!  Including some of my favorite themes in this fandom, as always: niche interest history crossovers, weird playing-with-embodiment... and spanning the ‘so close, yet so far’ gamut from impregnation kink to adorable kid fic.
Eight fics under the cut, and, for more fic recs, links back to post one, post two, post three, post four, post five, and my fic rec friday tag.
In Which the Kitten Does Not Get Et Because Aziraphale Is a Textual Purist by OlwenDylluan (<1k, g). In which Aziraphale attempts to read a bedtime story to his and Crowley’s snek children, and it is very very cute. I love the straightforward determination of the sneklings, as well as Aziraphale’s and Crowley’s mutual teasing - now with bonus co-parenting as something they’re working out.
Godfathers by lyricwritesprose (4k, g). In which Anathema Device, uh, encourages, Aziraphale and Crowley to be involved in Adam’s life. I love how everyone in this fic is kind of having different conversations from each other! Anathema doesn’t know that an angel and a demon aren’t dangerous (to be fair, they could be); Adam, as a genuine pre-teen, is not only generally self-absorbed but also doesn’t quite get social conventions; and as for Crowley and Aziraphale, well, they can’t seem to stop talking just to each other unless the end of the world’s at hand. I also love how, despite their differences, everyone involved is wonderfully more-or-less practical - it’s just that that means different things, depending on timescales and magic and priorities - and the nice bit of geekery re: mechanics, between Aziraphale, Anathema, and the text.
The Wintering Apple Tree by Metallic_Sweet (5k, g). In which World War One doesn’t affect Crowley and Aziraphale directly, of course - except for the shortage of their usual indulgences - but watching people one cares about hurt, well, it hurts near-invulnerable beings too. I love how grounded this fic is in the little details, how broad the scope - most of the world’s ‘the home front,’ and, just, how strongly it pulls a sympathetic-to-sympathetic suffering response out of me, through Aziraphale’s and Crowley’s affectedness and mutual what-passes-for-comfort.
Just a Taste by fabrega (2k, t). In which the post-canon get-together is facilitated by Aziraphale trying out smelling with a snake’s tongue. I love the keen observation of the two of them at the Ritz, and the way they’re both daring for each other - in very different ways, but both so very giving.
dum memor ipse mei by NeverNooitNiet (8k, t). In which Aziraphale remembers Crowley’s name from before he Fell, and everything goes horribly wrong. (Before it, of course, goes right again; this is a romance, after all!). I love this take on Falling, and identity, and the things Aziraphale knows and doesn’t know - and the very tasty angst, too, how both of them suffer deliciously from these stumbles.
a day in the life by attheborder (10k, t). In which Aziraphale and Brian Epstein (of Beatles fame) were friends, for a while. I love the way this fic explores what a friendship between Aziraphale and a human would be like - the odd unspoken imbalance and distance of it, the timescale, and, of course, what ‘don’t get attached’ looks like. And the way it evokes the 60s era rock-and-roll scene. And the contrast between Aziraphale’s friendship with a human - and the different sorts of tensions, as well as understandings, that inhere in his friendship(?) with Crowley.
Replete and Ponderous by DictionaryWrites2 (2k, e). In which Crowley indulges Aziraphale’s impregnation kink. (n.b.: there is no actual possibility of impregnation in this fic). I find the dirty talk and the feedback of pleasure and desire between them blindingly hot, with a lovely mix-in of familiar and affectionate teasing, too boot.
Ex Libris by tei (3k, e). In which the body swap exposes Aziraphale’s pierced nipples, and Crowley’s secret tattoo. I love the little mundane details in this get-together fic: Crowley’s and Aziraphale’s feelings about their homes and their bodies (also homes, if you think about it), as well as about each other.

You know people aren’t doing the “sinful gay babies” thing w Good Omens? They’re (mostly queer” people who are making headcanons about something that’s LITERALLY BIBLE FANFICTION about an angel and a demon. It’s not even close to being the same thing
I’m going to assume that this message was sent with the best intentions, and instead of arguing with you I’m going to further expand on what I meant by my original post, because I feel like you may have interpreted it differently than I intended (which is understandable, because I was feeling fed up when I posted it and wasn’t keen on specifics). With that goal established:
I am talking specifically about a few headcanons that I’ve seen gaining popularity on tumblr since the miniseries came out. There are a few variations of these that I’ve seen, but the basis of all of them is this:
Since lust is a sin, it falls under Crowley’s purview and any lustful or affectionate actions between Crowley and Aziraphale are or can be explained away to Hell as “temptations”, whereas any affectionate gestures on Aziraphale’s part are purely romantic love and can be explained away to Heaven as totally angelic because of this lack of lust.
This idea isn’t entirely bad, or incredibly homophobic. On its own, without other context, it very much fits with the idea of “bible fanfiction” that you’ve mentioned. However, because the two are, for all outward appearances, gay men, associating lust and sex solely with Crowley (or with Aziraphale only under the context that he’s been influenced somewhat away from capital-g-Good by either exposure to humanity or demonic influence) associates lust and sexual desire between two men with evil and the devil.
Again, without context or precedence, understandable. One could make the argument that there’s no perfect way to associate anything with Crowley, and that it’s therefore it’s not any sleight against male homosexuality specifically. The problem is: we do have context for associating the lust between men as evil; several hundred years of it, in fact. While I understand that no one is making any conscious decision to do so, this association is still harmful and still contributing to the (in this case quite literal) demonization of gay men, and that rubs me the wrong way.
So while I understand where you’re coming from in saying that this isn’t the same thing as, for example, a straight woman calling them her“sinful gay babies”, that really isn’t relevant to the fact that it still relies on problematic views of homosexual lust (and its separation from love in the first place, which is an entirely different problem). Furthermore, I think that it’s even more important for those of us in the fandom who identify as lgbt+ to watch out for these kind of insidious attitudes about gay men specifically because we’re queer, and should be careful not to perpetuate this kind of thing about other people in our community. We live in a society that views gay lust as sin, and gay men having sexual feelings as doubly sinful; this affects our perceptions of the world around us, and it’s still important to be critical of any association with queer lust and sinfulness even when it comes from other lgbt people.
Of course, this is just my opinion- other people might feel differently! I left the original post untagged to avoid stirring up drama or making anyone feel targeted because I know this might not be a universal feeling- but as someone raised in a very religiously conservative town, I’ve been surrounded by enough of this stuff my whole life not to want to see it all over my dashboard as well. I think it’s important that other members of the lgbt community watch out for ways of thinking that target specific members of the community, and especially that we think critically about the ways we interact with these things in the context of shipping.

I made a post yesterday asking if you would be interested in hearing my thoughts on Sherlock and the Sherlock fandom in light of the recent influx of Good Omens-stuff, which has made some people in the Sherlock fandom afraid that the fandom is dying. I received nothing but positive responses, which both surprised and delighted me to no end, so here we are.
This is going to be a bit of a long and rambling one, so strap in.
First of all, I need to talk about some personal stuff that I haven’t really talked about on this tumblr before. That is my Asperger’s (I was diagnosed less than a year ago, I’m still processing it and I haven’t received an “official diagnosis”, just the word of a psychologist specialising in girls and young women with Asperger’s – just putting that out there). I know a lot of people in the fandom have similar problems, so I’m not sure how much I need to explain. But I do want to say that the way Asperger’s is generally written about and portrayed online (on sites like Wikipedia or the like) is, in my opinion, often very negatively worded and gives an exaggerated idea of what Asperger’s is, at least when it comes to milder cases such as me.
A characteristic of Asperger’s is what’s known in English as “restricted and repetitive interests”, which I find to be a very negative term. I much prefer the Danish term særinteresser (“special” or “peculiar” interests). Basically, it means that a lot of people with Asperger’s develop a keen and often very intense interest in a certain quite niche subject – if you’ve heard Cabin Pressure, think of the way Martin obsesses over planes and memorises an enormous amount of plane trivia.
For me, it’s always been an abnormally strong obsession with various media. I’ve obsessed about various franchises through the years, but Sherlock and Sherlock Holmes has been the one and only for at least 4-5 years now. It doesn’t necessarily mean that my interest is stronger than other people in the fandom who spend a lot of time and get a lot of enjoyment out of Sherlock, but it certainly is stronger than the average fan and it has some, shall we say, specific expressions. I LOVE talking about Sherlock – I find it really difficult to describe the kind of excitement and positive energy I get from talking Sherlock, but think of the way children get excited when they do something they love and the excitement is just bursting out of them. I don’t need something new to talk about either. I write meta when I get a good idea or I get inspired by other people’s meta and throw in my two cents, but generally speaking, I don’t need something new to discuss in order to discuss Sherlock. I just want to talk about it! I try to keep it to a minimum on here because I think people… wouldn’t really… care…, but I’d love to discuss things like what I think characterises Sherlock and John, what I look for when I watch a Sherlock adaptation in the characters and in the relationship between the characters, my top ten Sherlocks, my top ten Johns and my top ten adaptations (side note: if anyone is interested in that, PLEASE drop me a comment or an ask, I’d be absolutely delighted).
So… all that to say that I consume Sherlock and Sherlock Holmes and participate in the Sherlock fandom because it gives me an immense sense of satisfaction as well as an outlet for my excitement that doesn’t bother my surroundings. That is what I think the core of fandom is and always should be: enjoying and celebrating what you love unapologetically in a safe, supporting environment, where you don’t have to rein in your feelings in fear of negative social consequences. And I think that’s always very, very important to keep in mind – it’s all about enjoying what you enjoy.
In my opinion, all fandoms should aim to promote that enjoyment and reduce negativity. Of course it’s the internet – negativity is hard to get rid of completely. But, speaking only for myself, I’m here to have fun.
That is why it will always be my opinion that no matter what you ship, that should be met with acceptance and respect. I don’t ship Adlock or Sherlolly (just to mention two prominent ships in my fandom that I am not a part of), but I would never ever argue that shipping Johnlock is “better” or “more correct” than shipping anything else. Shipping Johnlock is simply my preference and, frankly, I don’t consider it my business what other people enjoy. I can join them in loving the show as a whole and then we may go our separate ways when we want to talk shipping. I hope and believe that Johnlock might be made canon someday. But even if it does, I don’t think that matters much when it comes to shipping. Johnlock becoming canon matters for representational reasons and for the people who already ship Johnlock, but shipping is separate from and can live without “the canon stamp of approval”. What’s canon and what’s not doesn’t legitimise some ships relative to others because, again, shipping is about enjoyment and I think everyone ought to be free to enjoy whatever the heck they want to enjoy.
That applies to other fandoms as well.
As a quick disclaimer, I haven’t watched Good Omens. I probably will at some point, it looks really good (but I’m not gonna lie: I’m mainly interested because of Benedict, Mark and the setting).
So… Good Omens. You can probably guess what I’m going to say: people may enjoy whatever they enjoy. Some might leave Sherlock behind and make a full transition to Good Omens. Some might be really into Good Omens now and return to Sherlock in a while. Some might just be experiencing a short crush on another fandom and return to Sherlock very soon. Some might just be dipping their toes into it. As Moriarty would say: It’s all good.
I’m fully familiar with crushes on other fandoms. I go through such phases too every once in a while. I recently went through an intense The Lord of the Rings-phase after watching the Extended Editions and all (yes, ALL) of the additional material.
However, I’m also fully familiar with the fear that you yourself or other people in a fandom are moving on. Whenever I go through one of these phases where I get really into another fandom for a while, I get really upset because I think I might be leaving Sherlock behind. And our fandom is in a very precarious position at the moment. It’s been two and a half years since we last had any new content and that content was… uhm… a mixed bag. We don’t know if we’ll ever get more and, if we will, we don’t know when. And if we won’t get new content, somehow we’ll have to reconcile ourselves with S4, which is really hard. Fandoms tend to stagnate after a while if no new content is added, and I think that’s what a lot of people fear is happening. And it’s a very natural fear, whether you fear you yourself losing your interest in a fandom or the fandom itself shutting down: you don’t want something that has given you so much enjoyment to end.
But I don’t think we’re there. There’s still so much to do and talk about and analyse and create in this fandom. People post new fanfics and upload new fanart every single day. I’m able to reblog tonnes and tonnes of great content from other people in the fandom on a daily basis. I have nearly 1000 followers on here (as a side note, it is absolutely crazy and I am so blessed and thankful to all of you!). Of course, many of them might not actually check out what I post anymore, but seeing as I almost exclusively post Sherlock stuff and have done since the very beginning, clearly there’s still a lot of people who are interested in this content. Heck, even the creators are still desperately trying to keep everyone invested by trying to get us all drunk on themed cocktails.
So my final comments are these: I understand both the appeal of a new fandom (especially a fandom with a cast and crew as supportive of their fans as GO seems to have) and the fear that you or others might be moving on. But I want to stress the importance of having a fandom driven by excitement and enjoyment. So those who are really into GO at the moment should absolutely not be made to feel bad about that. People should be free to post and enjoy whatever the heck they want and that goes for everyone. I, for one, don’t think our fandom is anywhere near done and I will continue to post all Sherlock-Sherlock-Sherlock for the foreseeable future while we wait for S5.
Tagging the people who asked for this: @colourfulwatson @anchored-in-high-tide @catwillowtree @gelos @johnlockedinwarstan @why-are-you-cryingg (your username will not link for me for some reason, I’m sorry, I hope you see this) @cherylbombshellofthegay @royalworldtraveler @flowery222 @ebaeschnbliah @sherlockslove112

Fandoms and originals
Going to attempt to keep this short and sweet, although for actual roleplay I enjoy a good mix of quality and quantity - without branching into purple prose.
I’m R, 21+ (seeking 18+ partners for 18+ characters) and currently residing in the UK.
Doctor Who
- Clara/12
The Umbrella Academy
- Diego/Klaus
Misfits
- Nathan/Simon
I’d also be very happy to work with a crossover between TUA and Misfits with any sort of crossover pairing or just working with the different characters.
Line of Duty
- Ted/Steve
Vis a Vis
- Maca/Zulema
- Saray/Zulema
A rebellion of sorts.
Let’s chat!
