Hey hi for the character design ask—
Motion for Rashad, hair for Remus, stillness for Seongwon, for Mateo, change for Corinthian, and favorite for Cassian? :)
Oh! You forgot Mateo. Let me know what the question was and I'll answer it!
motion: How does your OC move? How does their clothing help or hinder their range of motion? Are they flexible, coordinated, clumsy?
Rashad used to be incredibly coordinated and, for lack of better word, slinky in the way they moved. Very acrobatic and a bit like a striker.
In their fall during the HBI, they suffered a basilar skull fracture that has since given them no end of trouble. On of the aftereffects is a persistent inner ear problem that affects their balance. They've gotten much clumsier since and walk with a cane to help mitigate the issues. Luckily, the Heartbreak armor also helps with it, bringing them back to near peak form.
hair: How does your OC wear their hair? Does it have some kind of meaning?
Remus keeps his hair pretty much unstyled and layered down to just above his shoulders. He loves his natural curls, even with the frizz, and so he tries not to do to much with it aside from keep it nicely conditioned.
Before he transitioned, it was just a little bit longer. He did cut it very short a little after he came out, but decided he hated wearing it short and grew it back out. He thinks having it short doesn't flatter his face. And it made him look too young.
stillness: How does your OC act while still? Are they fidgety? Do they have any common gestures or tics? Does their clothing affect how they hold themselves while at rest?
Aside from Corin, Seongwon is perhaps my most still Sidestep. She doesn't fidget a lot. Quite the opposite. She can stay still without issue for hours. But she does glance around a lot. Always looking around, watching her surroundings, ready to move, should she need to.
Her clothes don't really affect how she hold herself. If anything, it obfuscates how she's holding herself most times. Hard to see the tension in her shoulders underneath a large military field jacket.
change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?
Well, there's obviously his transition, but I think I'll focus more on how much he changed between his Sidestep and Simulacrum eras, because that change feels more impactful.
So, in his Sidestep days, Corin actually looked a lot like Herald does now. Blonde curls just a couple shades lighter and green eyes after the Void altercation, but very similar. After the HBI, Corin kept his hair much shorter, grows his beard, and dresses less flashy. He's mostly ambivalent about the changes. The hair and clothes are more for comfort and ease of life. The beard was a little treat for himself. A sign of reclaiming autonomy.
He did really hate when his eyes never went back from green to blue. It wasn't so much that he was attached to the color they were before, but more that the new one felt like another scar he can't escape. And Julia always said she liked the color before. Now, when she mentions it, it feels like a consolation. He's grown used to it over the years.
favorite: Does your OC have a favorite article of clothing or accessory? What is it? What's the meaning behind it? Do they wear it all the time or do they wear it sparingly to keep it safe?
Honestly, I don't think Cassian has a favorite article of clothing. The closest thing might be his snake bite piercings. He feels they were the first thing that really distanced himself from the persona of Ricardo's Girl. Made him look like dainty and soft. A sharper edge.
Going forward, if he ever gets a clean escape from the mess he's in at the end of Retri, a lot of Daniel's clothes are going to become his favorites. They're about the same size, so Cass is going to "borrow" all sorts of things.

but why isn't tumblr eating up Kaos netflix?
it's got everything! canon old man yaoi, a lot of trans representation, including a trans man as one of the main characters who is complex, desirable, and gets the girl at the end (uh, sorta, but, no spoilers), a succession-level of drama with a fucked up family that needs to be toppled, greek mythology, amazons, the three Fates as trans entities, the Furies as biker lesbians, a WHOLE spectrum of various sexualities and genders as well as great poc representation, a whole spectrum of disabilities, whimsical creatures and frightening, power hungry women... what are ya waiting for?
#it starts slow but by episode 2 you'll be HOOKED#ep 3 will kill you#and ep 4 will renew you#like it's better than our flag means death#and nearly on par with good omens#ps. greek mythology done way better than percy jackson#i know it's a flawed show#with a few questionable cast choices#i know some greeks and greek american tumblrers were (rightfully!) complaining about it#about the lack of actual greek input in the show#but other than that#i'm truly enjoying it!#kaos#kaos netflix#netlix kaos

Leo frowns at his phone.
Or more specifically, at the test on his phone.
Around him, he hears the sound of his brothers tapping their own devices, much faster than he is. Looking up just makes Leo feel worse about his own progress - or lack-thereof.
Mikey’s the fastest, speeding through the test like nobody’s business. He’d been the one to make them all do this stupid test in the first place, so it makes sense that he’s having a blast.
Raph’s slower than Mikey is, but he’s still clearly answering the questions at a steady pace. Sometimes he looks unsure, but he powers through anyway.
Donnie often looks frustrated, which relieves Leo somewhat because at least someone is struggling like him. But that “struggle” isn’t nearly as big as his own, considering that Donnie is answering about as fast as Raph is.
Leo turns his gaze back down to his own test. He’s still near the beginning, he thinks.
He’d put the same answer for the past seven questions - the middle of the road answer, neither a “yes” or a “no.” Then, whenever he does come across one that is more one direction than the other, he second guesses himself and restarts the test!
Sure, there are a few he could definitely give a yes or a no to, but…never the “strongly agree” or “strongly disagree” that the test seemed to want from him.
He eyes his twin sitting nearby, the softshell absorbed in the test. Maybe Leo should copy what Donnie put for some of these…
“DONE!” Mikey’s shout makes Leo freeze in place just as he started to lean over.
“What?” Donnie squawks, “No way you’re already finished, you must’ve been cheating!”
“It’s a personality test, Dee!” Mikey stuck his tongue out, “You can’t cheat at those!”
…
Leo settles back into his seat.
Ignoring Donnie’s mutterings about how it was “just because it’s not an academic test” that he didn’t finish first, Raph smiles encouragingly at Mikey.
“Hey, good job! So what’d you get, Mike?”
Mikey looks back down at his test, reading aloud, “Says that I got the “Campaigner”!”
“What’s that mean?” Leo asks, his phone screen going dark.
“Apparently, I’m an “enthusiastic, creative, and sociable free-spirit”.” Mikey reads, smiling at them, “You think it fits?”
“Oh, to a T, bro!” Leo laughs, giving Mikey a thumbs up, making Mikey’s smile grow larger.
Inside, Leo was feeling a lot more mixed about this. He has no idea how Mikey knew himself so well. Maybe Donnie was right and Mikey did cheat, because how could he answer those questions so easily?
Leo’s phone burns in his hand. He keeps it locked.
“Wow, that really is you.” Raph says, his eyes flitting back and forth between his own test and Mikey, “Do you think it fits?”
“I guess? It’s fun to see at least!” Mikey shrugs with a grin.
“Hold on, I think…” Raph makes a noise of satisfaction, “Okay, done!”
“Sigh, now I’m relegated to the straggler group.” Donnie grumbles, his thumbs moving faster as he tries rushing through the questions.
“Ooh, what’d you get Raph?” Mikey asks, practically bouncing in curiosity.
“Says, uh…I got something called the “Consul”?” He squints his eyes to read more, “Uh, “caring, social, and community-minded.””
“Sounds about right to me.” Leo nods. Can’t be more “community-minded” than being a hero.
“Yeah, no one’s more caring than you, Raphie!” Mikey says, moving to lean across Raph’s shell.
“You do put the community in mind, that’s for sure.” Donnie states, not looking up.
Raph chuckles, a bit embarrassed, “Aw, thanks. It’s just some test, but it feels kinda good to hear that.”
Just a test. Right.
Leo unlocks his screen.
The test stares back at him.
Right. Okay. He can do this. He can.
The screen ends up going dark again.
Frustration builds up in Leo. Was he even halfway done with the test? At this rate, soon even Donnie will-
“FINISHED.”
Leo unlocks his phone.
“What’d you get, DonTon?” Leo asks as his thumb taps the top right of the screen.
Donnie puffs up proudly, a self sure grin on his face, “I got the result “Logician” which states that I, obviously, am an “innovative inventor with a thirst for knowledge.” Truly could not have described me better, if I do say so myself.”
“It is pretty accurate.” Raph agrees with a nod, “Even calls you an inventor, so extra accurate.”
“Super accurate.” Mikey jumps in, eyes shining.
“Yes, yes, almost like reading my own character synopsis.” Donnie’s grin had not dwindled since the word “innovative” had left his mouth.
Leo just nods along, eyes on his own screen as he skims the words. “Yeah, kinda creepy how close it got. Could have called you a nerd for extra accuracy, though.”
Donnie turns to him, eyes narrowing, “Have you even finished your test? I can think of a few words that’d describe you fairly well.”
“Test-y, huh?”
Before Donnie can strangle Leo, Raph cuts in.
“Ok, ok, calm it down, guys.” He rolls his eyes before turning to Leo. “But really, you’re not done yet?”
“Leo’s taking this self reflection seriously.” Mikey sports a faux intellectual expression as he gives a jokingly serious nod. “Maybe we all should’ve taken our time.”
“Says the one who sped through the whole thing in a record time.” Donnie mutters.
Leo waves them all off, “Nah, I finished it ages ago.”
He grins when Donnie immediately shoots him a suspicious glare. “Oh, you did, did you? Then what could you have possibly gotten, Nardo?”
“I’m glad you asked!” Leo clears his throat, “Neon Leon just so happens to be an “Entertainer.””
“Ah. That confirms it. This test is meaningless.” Donnie drones.
“Hey-“
“What’s an Entertainer like?” Mikey asks with a tilt of his head, still hanging off of Raph’s shell.
“Glad you asked, Miguel!” Leo exclaims, “It says that “life is never boring” around yours truly~”
He emphasizes this “result” of his by waving his phone with said “result” on screen.
It’s just an image he found of his chosen personality result, but they don’t need to know that.
Raph nods slowly, “Well, I guess that’s true…”
“”Never boring” is one way to put it.” Donnie hums.
“You are pretty fun, Leo!” Mikey says emphatically, because he’s great like that.
“Thank you, thank you, life of the party, right here.” Leo grins, pointing both thumbs at himself.
He’s careful not to go too overboard with it, or else it might tip someone off.
Not that it…really matters. It’s just a test. Like Raph said.
As the topic around him shifts to something else, jumping away from this brief activity as fast as any other among them, Leo finds himself unlocking his phone and pulling up the test again.
Unanswered questions stare at him. He knows what answers Lou Jitsu would pick. He knows what answers Jupiter Jim would pick. Hell, he knows exactly what answers his brothers would pick.
He doesn’t know what answers Leonardo would pick.
Leo stares at the test for a second longer, before he exits the site and throws himself into the conversation happening around him.
It’s just a stupid test, nothing to worry about.
Just a test…
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt leo#rottmnt headcanons#rise leo#could not ignore this idea that hit my brain haha#if you disagree with me on what personality types I gave the boys that’s fine tbh#picked mbti since it was the first one I thought of but again it like most of these tests isn’t super worth putting stock into#these tests are kinda dumb anyway but they’re fun to take#for some#anyway I love thinking about Leo struggling with his sense of identity#and in turn struggling with what is a persona and what is HIM#how much is a mask how much is built from taking traits from others how much is real how much is fake#even he doesn’t know#protagonist is probably a good choice for leo but I’m also tied to him secretly being the introverted type as well so#bit more of an ambivert maybe#he’s got aspects of a lot of them hence the difficulty answering questions#well most of his difficulty comes from an uncertainty of who he really is#again what is him and what is his mask#or masks#what even is his true self if his self is someone he’s never bothered to meet#a lot of the little details of his personality - the parts of him that we see peek out throughout the series and often on his own -#- they align with personality types that you would never think of when looking at him and his masks at face value#that’s not to say it’s all masks - he’s a goofy guy at his core - but he’s more than he lets on and we’re made privy to that in subtle ways#though fr protagonist is prob Leo’s most likely result

He definitely meant the sword, right?
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#lan wangji#Wwx’s moral dilema with wanting to know more about lwj in this honest state vs respecting him is *so good*#he can ask silly questions and tease a little bit#but the fact he makes a conscious choice not to ask and deeply prying questions#says more than one might realize#That’s mutual respect baby!! The real sexiest thing you can have in any relationship.#Regarding wwx assuming lwj meant the sword; honestly…very relatable#when you’ve spent a long time thinking of someone as not holding much affection for you#any sign they give that they might is very easily written off as something else#it’s a little melancholic to feel like you like someone more than they like you. Platonic or otherwise.#you live with it and take whatever scraps you can take#not too unfamiliar for a former street kid huh

If there is some confusion about "which times it's ok for Katara to be a healer" and "which ones are not", there's a simple differentiation - moments when she offers to do individual acts of healing feel like realistic choices, they are individual acts. The incongruency is between her insisting during the series that she doesn't want to be a healer but instead to be a warrior, and then somehow ending up as a healer with no big achievements in life after the war.
I'm not saying it's absolutely impossible to write any character as changing their opinion through life, but the thing is - no writing has actually been done for that for her, plus it's a super sharp contrast to her very solid characterization as a fighter during the entire series. It's understandable why it would not be liked by a large number of people with whom her original character resonated.
#katara#atla analysis#to add to this; characters can change for the worse#characters can have negative development#their lives can degrade in a narrative#not every development is positive development#the question is what kind of development should a character have#and I don't think a negative one for Katara would be a good choice unless a terrible tragedy is being written

Response to your reblog before I peace out.
The argument of the immorality of abortion is built on the assumption that life inherently has value. Lives do not have any inherent value, because they are the result of millions of years of naturally occurring processes. These natural processes do not have any inherent moral value; attempting to assign one would involve invoking some sort of "god" that exists beyond the material, observable, provable world we live in, rather than some logical, clear, and distinct notion such as the one attempted to be shown. For these reasons, abortion is morally neutral.
On that note, the morality and legality of abortion are thereby a human notion, with a logically valid -though not logically sound- argument in either direction. The argument presented says that "no human life should be purposefully ended by another human being. Because that's murder." In short, they believe that murder is necessarily and inherently immoral. That's all it is though, a belief: There is no wholly logical ground to stand on with regards to murder being universally bad in all scenarios, because of its' moral neutrality as I proved above. In other words, the morality and legality of aborting a fetus is wholly subjective.
"Do you actually have an issue with my argument that a fetus is a human being with the right to life, and ending their life is murder[?]"
Yes I do. A fetus is not survivable beyond the confines of the womb for quite some time; in fact, not until right before the fetus is due to become a baby and be born, that ever-reliable 8 month mark after insemination. As such, considering the fetus is unable to survive without constant connection to the pregnant person, it stands to reason that this is an extension of their body at this point, rather than a separate entity. If one intended to claim it still was at the stages before a fetus can survive independently, then consider this implication: Parasites rely on being attached to living beings in order to survive. This includes humans. Therefore, following the earlier claim that "a fetus is a human being with the right to life, and ending their life is murder," a parasite attached to a human is also a human being with the right to life, and ending their life is murder. Therefore, it is more reasonable to claim that for most of the pregnancy cycle, a fetus is not a separate entity from the pregnant person, and by extension, "ending its' life" is not murder.
"Babies are people, too, and have the same right to life as an adult."
This is true! Because babies are not fetuses.
Just thought you would want to read this, because anti-choice rhetoric can be very harmful in shutting down the agency of pregnant people and their ability to dictate their own lives. Knowing the direction that restrictions of this kind have gone in the past, those restrictions will not stop after the illegalization of abortion. Please consider who this harms and who this helps before spreading closed-minded rhetoric of that kind.
Either morality (God-given or otherwise, because there are many secular arguments against abortion) exists or it doesn't. There is a line in the sand or there is not. If you truly intend to argue that lives have no inherent value beyond what we assign them, then not only are the two of us operating in completely irreconcilable ethical frameworks, but yours collapses under its own weight; harm, agency, all these things mattering hinges on the idea that humans and (to a lesser extent) other forms of life have inherent worth, inherent dignity, that causing the former and undermining the latter are wrong in and of themselves.
If there is no objective standard on which to hang our arguments, then everything becomes subjective; all that matters is what we value on a social and individual level. And if that's the case, why would I ever bother to value the opinions of you, a stranger on the internet, over my own? It would be unfair and wrong of me not to consider other positions, to try to see things from another person's point of view, but why should I care about fairness or rightness?
Equating an embryo or fetus to a parasite is fallacious and incorrect. Ignoring that by the scientific definition parasites have to be a different species from the host, and that a pregnancy is a two-way street that also provides benefits for the mother, embryos and fetuses are simply living out the natural development cycle that literally every other human being on the planet has gone through. The biological principles at play in parasitism and human reproduction are fundamentally different.
I could keep going. I could match your arguments with my own about how anti-life rhetoric is a slippery slope to eugenics, about how I could just as easily twist your arguments around to make social parasites out of the elderly and disabled; but in this case it's pointless, because I can't even get you to sit down and agree upon simple principles like "human lives have value" and "murder is bad" or even "there is such a thing as objective morality."
#there are pro-choice arguments that I'm willing to give credence#none that have successfully convinced me to become pro-choice‚ but I can acknowledge that they're well-reasoned and made in good faith#but you've somehow stumbled upon the one pro-choice argument that I can give NO credence;#that it doesn't really matter anyway‚ that there's nothing either supernatural or philosophical beyond the material world worth considering#that all questions of morals and ethics ultimately boil down to nothing more than a matter of taste#but the question in that case always becomes‚ “So why are we even discussing it? Why does it matter so much to you that I'm wrong?”

Listen. If Trump really were the horrible, evil person some people believe he is, then I would be a bad person for thinking he should hold office. The point is he's not, and neither am I. So please shut up.
#do I think he's a great person? no#i think he's said some dumb and questionable things#but I think at the end of the day he was the better choice even if i don't agree with every one of his policies#sorry some of us have different priorities i guess#and voting for the ''murder good!'' party didn't sound particularly appealing to me

seeing somebody argue that a character making a stupid choice is bad writing simply because they didn’t go for the best course of action always baffles me
like my friend have you ever met a single human being, including yourself???? we are constantly making horrible choices, it’s kind of our thing
#the actual question re: is the writing good is “does this stupid choice feel like the kind of stupid this character would be”#holding the idiot ball out of nowhere for plot reasons = annoying#imbuing your characters with flaws and then throwing them into situations that activate their worst tendencies = INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS

another thing i feel has deepend my hatred for totk is... how quickly people jump to defending it, as soon as there is any criticism at all, no matter how little or legit, anyone that expresses disappointment, even in the most tamest way possible, the comments are filled with excuses for it like nintendo can do no wrong
(saw someone express disappointment about a concept art in the totk book that they would have liked more than what we got, and the comments were filled with people making excuses for it-)
often the process of cool concepts getting less cool over the development cycle, especially in this modern gaming industry, isnt bc it just wasnt 'possible' or not the best choice, but bc it gets filtered through many layers of corporate "mass appeal" ideals for greater profit, "mass appeal" i think is always going to give you something more generic, losing its edge, its spark, you cant make soemthing that literally appeals to everyone, thats not how it works, but they certainly try anyway bc it promises greater profit in theory
of course, that doesnt mean that has to be the reason for whatever they decide to go for in the end, but they can do wrong, very questionable, and very much bad things, they have done that and ARE doing that, and you should be able to express disappointment about that without getting swarmed by a weird nintendo defense squad, in fact, it SHOULD be criticised, sometimes that can even be fun, sometimes mroe frustrating, but it should be done regardless, does it sound fun to jsut fully accept everything they throw in front of you without question??? does that sound like you will only get better things???
i just realyl hate that weird cult following (exaggeration) the game has amassed where you either worship it or must unreasonably hate it, that you cant express any sort personal feelign towards it that isnt praise without being hit by the squad tm
its not just annoying, its weird, what are you defending them for?? why??? i had this problem a while too, but its died down sicne then, probably bc people realized im not the 'average' fandom guy but a very specific kind of fandom guy- whenever i view outside my little bubble though i see it still happen ... even for the most miniscule of criticism
(dont get me started on how i have MASSIVE gameplay and design frustrations about totk and dont really understand how so many people can say the gameplay is stellar and jsut the writing sucks .... bc its not ..)
#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rants#sorry i got annoyed again#and yes there is the chance of them trying to explain a choice rather than excuse but-#at a certain point its a little weird#post in question was about a ganondorf concept art that made him more into a big ghostly being#and one that i assume conatined the end chamber you approach him in? or the sealing one idk#which neither looked in any way impossible to do#or especialyl unfitting?#hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh#im a little 'sees something and has to complain about it' guy#(on my own account though ... not gonna throw myself to the wolves that are 'average zelda fans' in twitter comments)#dont think any of them could handle my opinions#... anyway- back to watching what seems to be a very good windwaker video
