【KagePro】 Sen's .dsd/V Scans: Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sen's Scans and Edits
.dsd/V Sidu MV Material Works 2011 - 2018 (WHITE ver.) - Outer Science: Kuroha/Saeru
.dsd/V Sidu MV Material Works 2011 - 2018 (WHITE ver.) - Yuukei Yesterday: Takane & Haruka
For future reference:
Please credit me if you use my scans! Scanning and editing are very time consuming for me. Don't repost my merch photos or scans.
I will generally allow my photos or scans to be used for personal use (PFPs, edits, etc.) and fandom wikis.
You don't have to ask me for permission if you're using them for personal use (PFPs), but credit me if you're using them for edits. Ask me for permission first if you want to repost it on another site.
...
Ok I just got home so I can try scanning Sidu's .dsd/V artbook for the Kuroha illust but I can't guarantee how the scan's gonna turn out.
I'm probably gonna have to edit the scan and such after I scan it. Gonna do a few test scans of the cover first to see the colours and such first
I'm just gonna disable reblogs on this post cuz this is more of a WIP progress update from me. My scans aren't ready to be posted yet on main, cuz I still have to re-scan and edit them.
I'll repost this on main eventually (once I have the more finalized and edited versions of the scans)
I'll post pics I took of Sidu's .dsd/V artbook on my main blog @/stepswordsen eventually! I just haven't written the post yet.
I tried making the Kuroha scan look more passable with my own edits of my scans
...
I tried scanning a bit of Sidu's .dsd/V artbook and a couple things from it. Ok so I scanned the cover of Sidu's .dsd/V (White Version) artbook, the back cover, and attempted to scan the Outer Science and Yuukei Yesterday art.
I'll have to edit Kuroha's scan, and I still need to redo the scans on the HaruTaka art. I'm definitely gonna have to edit these later.

.dsd/V: Kuroha/Saeru Outer Science Can Badge Merch (Upscaled Version)
Merch that uses this art brightens the colours to make it more clear.
This is my best attempt at upscaling a low quality merch preview image. Though the details get lost in it.
Even though I have the physical book in person, you can hardly make out any of the details of Sidu's Kuroha/Saeru Outer Science illust in her .dsd/V artbook cuz the colours are so dark. It makes it SO hard to scan properly.
It's an artistic choice from Sidu, but it makes both seeing the art and scanning it so hard…
Was talking to mutuals about this and they were like "That must be a nightmare for any scanner 💀💀💀"
...
I really wish we had her artbooks available digitally to be able to archive the arts properly, but they're only available physically, so I'll have to make do.
I think having some kind of scan will at least be better than none, so I'll try my best to scan the arts and archive them
The book is bigger than my scanner glass area, so I have to scan a single page multiple times to be able to get the scan at different parts of the page.
It's really hard to scan parts that are closer to the book binding cuz it casts a shadow. Due to the book binding, the book can't be laid completely flat.
Scanning has been VERY time consuming for me because I have to scan a single page multiple times and often redo the scan to get rid of dust, re-scan to get the parts where the pages crop off, etc.
I'll be scanning things slowly at my own pace whenever I have free time.
I think I have some ideas on how to remove the print texture, especially on the Kuroha one, so I'll probably ask a mutual for scanlation help later.
Due to me constantly handling the book, my finger prints still got on the book's pages, unfortunately.
I have to scan the book at a REALLY awkward angle.
On pages where the rest of the pages (book's weight) holds it up, it's fine, but otherwise I have to get my yoga mats to prop up the book while it's being scanned (cuz it's bigger than the scanner area), it's just ADKLSDKLKLDSKL
I've been handling the book sm and trying to be as careful as possible.
I noticed I accidentally bent the bottom right corner of the page with Kuroha's illust, thankfully the crease isn't on anything important
I'm the type that gets really concerned over stuff like that, cuz I try to be very careful with my artbooks and art prints, but thankfully it's very minimal.
I bought two copies of Sidu's artbook for this reason. I figured that just in case one gets damaged while scanning, then I'll still have the other one.
The HaruTaka art is going MUCH better in terms of scanning, just as expected.
As for Saeru, he's making me go through the horrors /lh
I've never had this much trouble with scanning something before this illust...

Target Acquired on AO3
Science isn’t about ‘why’, it’s about ‘why not’. So I’m gonna make a repost about my ancient Portal 2 story on AO3. This is not the (even more ancient) ff.net version, but a new-and-improved, much more detailed and overall BETTER version, which will (maybe someday if my life irl allows it), actually get a solid chapter update at the end of it (for now I’m just trying to chip away at reposting the updated “new” versions of “old” chapters with a few extra bonus chapters/scenes in between).
What is Target Acquired?
As previously stated, this is my own Portal 2 fanfic. It is a gen (non-shipping, save for implied Caveline) friendship and adventure fic of epic length, currently resting at 260,000 in the master document (160,000 posted), with an estimated completion of up to 500,000 someday (if my life calms down someday anyway). It is an alternate ending continuation of the game, in which Wheatley is not banished to space and Chell is not released from Aperture.
The story starts out focusing on Chell and Wheatley’s complicated relationship as they try to navigate through Aperture once again in a last-ditch attempt to escape as enemies-turning-friends. What follows is a journey not just through the modern day facility whilst hiding from Atlas, P-Body, and (most importantly) GLaDOS’s watchful eye, but also through Old Aperture and a plethora of both fic-canon history and actual-canon history, including but not limited to Cave’s fate and portions of Caroline’s life. But Chell and Wheatley’s unorthodox escape methods unwittingly begin to trigger a series of events which will (ha) -test- each of their character and resolve in turn - and eventually, everyone’s possibility of survival.
Is this still going to be a deadfic? Why or why not?
I wish I could say no, but my life irl is insane, and I spend years at a time not being able to write a single word down because of it. However, this thing’s lived in my brain since at least 2012, and here I am still trudging along, so that’s a good sign!
So for now, here are the first 16 chapters of Target Acquired, AO3 Vers
"The surge of emotion that shot through me when I saved your life taught me an even more valuable lesson," she continued, gentle vestiges of the almost-forgotten feeling of contentment leeching through her system to manifest within her speech parameters. After what felt like a millennia of panic and hurt and chaos, the AI allowed herself to relish one of the first moments of clarity along with the exciting implications of what she was about to do. "Where Caroline lives in my brain."
