RIP GC
Using submit since I donā€™t have an account but Elden ring request! If GC was killed instead of Godwyn night of the black knives (IIRC) howā€™d everyone react? I think Marika and Radagon might lose it.
Tumblr media
Marika and Radagon, I think, would be even more at odds than they were before. I can see the timeline being pushed forward and Marikaā€™s now more determined than ever to shatter the Elden Ring, and I think that Radagonā€™s motivations for attempting to repair it would be equal parts devotion to the Golden Older, to spite Marika, and (perhaps) a misguided belief to bring the Golden Consort back. Somehow.
I donā€™t think the motivations for the Demigods will change much but from a military perspective, I wonder if the battles would be more destructive due to the hasty mobilization.Ā

would the youtube essays of the demigods be more summary or analysis
messmer: for every three hours of analysis he has three hours of summarizing. but really, no one is listening for either. most of his audience learned about him through a podcast called "found a new guy." they delight in performing psychoanalysis on the various neuroses and sexual hang-ups that ooze through his bitter personality
godwyn: mostly summary, but it isn't on purpose since he doesn't really know the difference. there is no evidence that he owns a shirt
morgott: it's clear from his voice (he won't do a face reveal) that he finds it worthy of contempt that you even need the analysis explained. there's not really summary either, he just scolds you a lot
mohg: you're an hour into the video and somehow it feels like the intro is still going. surely the essay proper is about to arrive, any minute now,
radahn: it's really more like a blog where he meanders through what he did that day. he records them in his car; his sunglasses stay on the whole time. in "essay" #1,071 he casually revealed miquella has been in the passenger seat, just off-camera, every time
rykard: very well-edited essay, with only enough summary needed to understand his interesting ideas. however, it seems he brings up his opposition to circumcision whenever he can. he always pulls back on the verge of ranting, but it's clear this occupies a prominent recess in his brain
ranni: the analysis produced by her astute mind is far out of proportion to the limited production value. there are still 144p videos? it's really just some unrelated video game footage while she talks. if anything, some additional context to her thoughts would help. she has never responded to a single comment, and seemingly has no interaction with her audience
malenia and miquella: they started their joint channel together when they were teens. in the decades since, they have published exactly five videos. their essays often seem to be leading up to really thought-provoking analysis. however, the project evidently always spirals out of control and they just upload a "part one" setup to their grand conclusions. there is no "part two" to be found, and three of their five videos are updates on their "progress." on each one is a pinned comment from marika saying "can't wait!!! xoxo"

I see a lot of Elden Ring players on here and elsewhere who feel mad or cheated or robbed that the DLC had nothing to do with Godwyn. And in one hand, yeah I get that, this DLC was so Miquella-focused youā€™d think we might get something about him, fair, but I think if we did get a Lord-Brother Godwyn and Miquella boss fight like so many people are saying they wanted, well. I think I would feel robbed.
The entire point of Godwyn is that heā€™s dead. Heā€™s undead. He is One that lives in death. He has become the god of undeath. You cannot bring him back, many thousands have tried, including Miquella by way of some sort of Eclipse ritual (which I personally hope might be expanded upon in a future DLC.) Getting too close to him leads to nothing but blight and decay and death.
Anyways I personally think having Godwyn just show up randomly at the gate of divinity in some sort of twin princes fight would have been so much more out of left field for me. The relationship between Godwyn and Miquella and Melania is talked about in Lore sure, but the Haligtree and Redmanes having such an intimate and storied rivalry, as well as Melania and Radahn themselves, leaves the revelation that Miquella has been waiting for Radahnā€™s death to reincarnate him and force him to carry out his promise of consortship one way or another is somehow more interesting to me than ā€œoh Miquella finally found a way to bring back Godwyn here at the gate of divinity teeheeā€.
The entire point of Godwyn is that he is undead. He is the prince of death. He became a pox on the Lands Between, and a tumor on the roots of the Erdtree, unable to be reborn, cursed to live in death. To undo that so simply would be to irreversibly change so much of the game beyond recognition.

Hello, I had written a little story a while back and have decided to send in the second part.
Where our tale left off, the young servant of numen nobility, now guided by the grace of gold, had experienced a change in fate. Hands that were once cracked and bleeding from washing laundry in lye have now given a chance to heal, for the servant has been reassigned to an infirmary of sorts as an apprentice.
One fateful day, the servant was taking stock of the herbs and poultices while their teacher was away. As they worked, they soon noticed that grace was pointing towards the door, where a boy had just walked in, surrounded by, almost emanating the same golden presence that they adored so deeply.
His name was Radagon, and he had been injured in a spar against his sister's shadow. The servant would treat his injuries, bandaging every cut with care, and Radagon, for the first time in his life, felt seen as someone beyond Marika. As someone real. He started to appear often, with injuries obviously caused by excessive training, though he never admitted it. If he could not compete with Marika in divinity, then he would outshine her in every other way possible.
And thus, the to-be golden consort knew Radagon long before he appeared in historical record.
(Apologies for both length and quality, I needed to get this idea out so it would stop haunting me. I hope you have a wonderful day.)

I disagree with people who says it's illogical for Godwyn to be in the dlc
Just a quick reminder: we DON'T fight against real Radahn. It's just like a controlled puppet, Miquella's version of Radahn. So why we couldn't have the same but with Godwyn?
Miquella already had some connection to Godwyn:
the statues of them hugging at the Haligtree
Golden Epitaph
Castle Sol, eclipse and Miquella's attempts to bring him back
Why using Mohg's body? Not only because to gain access to the Realm of Shadow, but also because he has the power of blood and he is the child of both Marika and Godfrey, just like Godwyn. So it would be a new body instead of mutilated and changed by the Erdtree we can see in the game
Why Radahn's soul? Radahn, just like Godwyn, was a good warrior, so maybe Miquella would believe that he can exchange someone's equal in power soul for Godwyn's, or create from Radahn's soul new soul, because Godwyn's soul died (or maybe we need to kill Radahn so the stars he was holding could move again and the solar eclipse could happen as something that would return Godwyn's soul)
So in the same manner we could fight not against real Godwyn, perfect golden child everybody loved, but Miquella's failed attempt to ressurect him, some monster made from Mohg, Radahn and Miquella's memories about his dear brother.
It would be logical and expected because we have hints about Miquella's connection to Godwyn, and we could have a unique new boss but maybe with some Radahn's or Mohg's attacks

Iā€™ve just seen a lot of people talking about Messmer as a direct sibling to Miquella/Malenia and Iā€™m not sure Iā€™m sold on that theory so Iā€™m looking for someone to fill me in on whatever makes this idea so popular please and thank you šŸ™
But from what I remember, in the Elden Ring base game, the ritual shield talisman references the use of shields in combat in relation to the erdtree - much like the Carian Thrusting Shield in the DLC. However, it also says that the practice of shields in combat died out by Radagonā€™s time which (if im correct in drawing a connection between the two items) makes me think that Radagon wasnā€™t Messmerā€™s father. So where does the red hair come from? Was Godfrey Messmerā€™s father? So is it like the theory surrounding Rykard having blonde hair bc of the Radagon-Marika situation?
If so then does that counter the idea Iā€™ve heard all the time that Marika and Radagon havenā€™t always shared a body and that they were initially entirely separate? (Which also reminds me of the Inseparable Sword that said something along the lines of the Golden Order being the only institution to accept these twins - suggesting that perhaps their situation is something similar to Marika and Radagon, again disputing that they were once separate.)
Also Messmerā€™s crusade is probably before the practice of shield combat died out - and therefore prior to Radagonā€™s introduction to the timeline - bc of the fact that the only thrusting shields we find are all present in the Land of Shadows only I think. The only thing tripping me up is that the talisman says that its modelled after the shields but I donā€™t think they look very similar tbh

I think itā€™s really tragic how Radahn, By becoming Miquellaā€™s consort, made him more like the two people he looked up to the most. (Radagon and Godfrey.)
