now that s7 is just about wrapping up with like 3 episodes left i also want to talk about natori and natsume's friendship

they both believe each other as people who are way too kind for their own good, but what i love most is how natori both knows better than to completely take natsume away from meddling with the ayakashi and yet at every turn he wishes not to, when in natsume's case, he just wants to help a friend who's helped him countless times before

natori to me is just the older figure that natsume never really got. somebody that he's already shared his ENTIRE BURDEN with (and natori who wants nothing more than to take every bit of it away from him)

Okay as we started talking about Ben and Lettie's random pair up, I want to talk about how how hilariously out of place their main "love" moment were in the final of the book.

Without any hatred to the final itself, it's one of the best happy endings I've ever read, it's just this particular scene looks like it was written in the last second.

Wizard Suliman was at least a strong-minded as Lettie was. Lettie looked quite nervous as Suliman loomed craggily over her. "It seemed to be the Prince's memory I had of you and not my own at all," he said.

"That's quite all right," Lettie said bravely. "It was a mistake."

"But it wasn't!" protested Wizard Suliman. "Would you let me take you on as a pupil at least?" Lettie went fiery red at this and did not seem to know what to say.

First of all, Ben, dear, WHY are you starting conversation with "the Prince" and the fact that it was his memory? I mean, it is important, yes, but it also wasn't really worth mentioning as you both see each other for the first time, and she had a brief conversation with the Prince? Lettie is smart, she can connect two dots together.

(seriously, If you want to talk about Prince Justin talk about Prince Justin, there's no need to do randomly conversation with his mention.)

Second of all, again, what happened to "hello"? Or "sorry"? Or some kind of introducing of yourself? She knew Percival, yeah, but this is first time you see eachother, as, well, each other.

Ben, I love you dearly, but you clearly cannot start a conversation. That's the price you're paying for being a nerdy introvert in your thirties.

(Yes, starting the talk with your countryman by apologising for biting him is not the best possible option, either.)

Third of all, I think we all can agree the "at least a pupil" line didn't exits. It was delivered so rapidly and quicky, no one present could actually process whatever is going on here.

Let's all just sing my bestie Ben Sullivan for speaking club lessons, I think he's gonna be glad.

what i took from tallulahs book is that she actually rlly does need to spend more time w/ the other eggs/parents cuz she doesn't realise that they all fucking adore her and are clamouring to look after her and think shes amazing but just dont know her well enough. Its not that they have misconceptions about her, its not that bbh forgot her birthday, its not that dapper and pomme purposefully triggered her abandonment issues. its that they dont know/remember cuz they never see her and thats why its actually kind of important that her and chayanne get to hang out with ppl like forever and stuff more regularly ("if they are actually willing to" she mutters, eyes trained on chayanne).

gotta say it's a little wild to me that the reading community has decided that audiobooks aren't "real reading" considering humanity has spent thousands of years with a oral storytelling tradition and only a couple hundred with a widespread literate tradition. before books became so cheap and affordable everyone could get their own copy, reading out loud to a group (your family, your friends) was extremely commonplace. humanity has shared stories orally since the dawn of storytelling. like stop being snobby about how people consume books but also if anyone should get to be snobs about what counts as "real reading" it's probably audiobook people.

side note it astonishes me that ppl are selling this book for between $50 to $100 secondhand in some places. you can get it for under 10 bucks at so many online retailers. it's a fifty-year-old tome that was commonly used as a college textbook, there are so many fuckin copies still floating around out there and most of them on the market are in the acceptable-to-good category of condition. how could one you have be worth much more than that? is yours in extra special superb condition? what?

do ppl just think everything vintage is valuable... bc oftentimes it just isn't

When I rented the first Wings of Fire book on Libby the version of the cover my library had was this one:

And I like it! It's a nice cover.

But I was just looking up when these books were released and the version of the cover that came up was this one:

And like. Oh my god. I'm sorry to be a little mean but WHY. The stiff pose. The eye looking at nothing. The chaotic bg that conveys nothing. The funky curved snout.

This takes the "realistic" updated Warrior Cats covers that everyone disliked to a whole new level. It's just genuinely really bad
