Seen by God (Genesis 16:7-15)
I believe that one of the great tragedies of modern Western civilization is that we can live among so many other people, yet not be seen by so many of them.
The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered. Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so…

What a better way to close out the week than going to church.
This morning after getting ready for the day, it was time for walk and worship with the dogs who were waiting for me to open the bathroom door and walk out. It’s a cold morning and yet getting to go out and walk in the dark with my light on and listening to worship music was perfect. Remembering and thanking God for a great travel week where I got to meet with and connect with a lot of incredible…

Don't You Dare Say It's Impossible
There are moments in life when God steps in and leaves us speechless. You know, the kind of moments that make you chuckle under your breath and shake your head like Sarah did when she overheard the Lord say she was going to have a baby in her old age. (Genesis 18:12) Can you imagine? Sarah, nearly 90 years old, laughed out loud at the thought. Abraham, at 100, must have done a double take too. I…

The Best is Yet to Come: A Christian Perspective
Have you ever heard someone say, “The best is yet to come”? It’s a hopeful statement, but as Christians, is it true? What does the Bible say about our future and God’s plans for us? The answer is a resounding yes! For those who follow Christ, the best truly is yet to come—not just in this life, but for eternity. Let’s explore some key Bible passages that affirm this hope. 1. A Christlike Response To Skeptics
When people reject our message of love or even attack us, it is natural to feel angry. Jesus did. But He also showed us how to respond in a way the world would never have expected.
Listen to the podcast of this post by clicking on the player below, and you can also subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or Audible.  https://craigtowens.files.wordpress.com/2024/03/a-christlike-response-to-skeptics.mp3 God is precise in His promise making and promise keeping. He doesn’t just fulfill promises in a vague way or in “the spirit of the law,” but He attends to the jots and tittles of every…

From Infertility to Laughter (Genesis 21:1-7)
I am heartened that Abraham kept bringing up Sarah’s infertility issue to God. And the Lord was never silent about it, but remained adamant that the divine promise would come from the two of them together.
The Lord was attentive to Sarah just as he had said, and the Lord carried out just what he had promised her. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son for Abraham when he was old, at the very time God had told him. Abraham named his son—the one Sarah bore him—Isaac. Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old just as God had commanded him. Abraham was 100 years old when his son…

A New Routine is in the works after New Beginnings...
As I got up this morning, before doing my post, it was time for walk and worship with the dogs. They missed me being away and getting to go out and when they spotted me up and at ’em, it meant we were back on scheduled to head outside. This past week I was able to write up the minimized posts but didn’t publish them because I wondered if I would decide to go back and plug in some study details…

I was Bribed
I remember memorizing many scripture verses as a child. We were “bribed” by our Sunday School teachers to learn and quote them by heart. If we did, we’d receive prizes and rewards. Right or wrong, it worked for me, because I know those scriptures from memory, and I live by them still today. For any crisis, concern, or fear, one will pop to my mind, and I will be comforted. Joshua 1:8 says “This…
