I mostly agree with this post and its messaging but its wrong on a few points that I want to address.

First off while the vast majority of the Nazi Party and its adherents were indeed Christian, typically some variant of Protestant with a minority of Catholics, chunks of the leadership and parts of the SS were not. At least not fully. Hitler privately looked down upon Christianity due to seeing it as corrupted by Judaism and if the esoteric faction within the party had been stronger more anti-Main Stream Christian actions probably would have been taken. Heinrich Himmler thought he was a fucking pagan wizard reincarnation of a Burgundian Prince and worked hard to remove the influence of Christianity within the SS. He was for sure an outlier and the actual true believers in his weird pagan ritual replacements for Christian traditions, like a new SS marriage ceremony or celebrating the solstices instead of Easter and Christmas or making SS officers swear loyalty to him and wear special rings, is not considered to be super high there were still people who believed in it. Now let's talk about God's least favorite gay man: Ernst Rohm.

Rohm was the leader of the Sturmabteilung, better known as the SA or the Brownshirts. They were the brutal paramilitary street fighters to the SS's bodygaurd and and so-called 'elite' unit in the early days of the Nazi Party. Rohm was to the 'left' of the Party in that he actually believed that there should be some sort of right wing revolution against elements of the capitalist class within Germany, similar to the infamous Strasser brothers. He was also an openly gay man. Its important to note that the Nazis knew about Rohm being gay for years. He did not fucking hide it and considered it a badge of pride. It freed him from the weakness of women and let him LARP as fulfilling some sort of Spartan ideal. There is no mention in Hitler's personal writings of him being especially displeased or disgusted with Rohm's sexuality. This is not to say that the Hitler and most of the early Nazi Party were not homophobic, but rather that but grounding his sexuality in misogyny and appealing to a masculine ideal, Rohm made being being gay acceptable within a very certain context to the Nazi Party. What I am saying is that the Nazis did not kill him for being gay. Nor did they kill him for being fat, Mr. Somerton. Fucking Goering existed. Rohm was killed due to three reasons. 1. He was a notorious party boy and drug user and this, combined with his sexuality, made him embarrassing to the Nazis when they were trying to gain allies with the traditional conservative elements of German society 2. As stated before he was on the 'left' of the Nazi Party and wanted some form of wealth redistribution from the Junker and industrialist class to the 'Volk' (white, christian, conservative lower and middle class Germans). While not as radical as the Strassers this was a position that the Nazi Party wanted to move past while they were getting into power, as it alienated the conservative sections of German society they were courting. 3. He lost a power struggle. Himmler, who was fucking ragingly homophobic, was battling it out with Rohm for who got to be the Nazi Party's main paramilitary and special unit after they ascended to power. It was going to be either the SS or the SA and the leader of the group that lost was probably gonna end up dead. At the end of the day Himmler both managed to manipulate Hitler better, with the extensive help of world class shit head Reinhard Heydrich, and his weird wizard shit was determined to be less embarssing and threatening to the conservative powers of Germany than everything about Rohm. While Rohm's sexuality was a reason for his death in the Night of the Long Knives it was not The Reason. They killed him because he was too radical for the Nazi Party and because he lost out on internal power plays, not because he was Gay. But otherwise yeah, the Nazis used rhetoric that would not be dissimilar from what you hear from large sections of the Republican Party. Being spicy I will also say that some of what the right wing of the Democrat Party says is pretty close to that rhetoric as well, but thats another fight. This post is over all really good, I just wanted to clear up some historical mis-conceptions that drive me nuts.

The nazis that you see in movies are as much a historical fantasy as vikings with horned helmets and samurai cutting people in half.

The nazis were not some vague evil that wanted to hurt people for the sake of hurting them. They had specific goals which furthered a far right agenda, and they wanted to do harm to very specific groups, (largely slavs, jews, Romani, queer people, communists/leftists, and disabled people.)

The nazis didn't use soldiers in creepy gas masks as their main imagery that they sold to the german people, they used blond haired blue eyed families. Nor did they stand up on podiums saying that would wage an endless and brutal war, they gave speeches about protecting white Christian society from degenerates just like how conservatives do today.

Nazis weren't atheists or pagans. They were deeply Christian and Christianity was part of their ideology just like it is for modern conservatives. They spoke at lengths about defending their Christian nation from godless leftism. The ones who hated the catholic church hated it for protestant reasons. Nazi occultism was fringe within the party and never expected to become mainstream, and those occultists were still Christian, none of them ever claimed to be Satanists or Asatru.

Nazis were also not queer or disabled. They killed those groups, before they had a chance to kill almost anyone else actually. Despite the amount of disabled nazis or queer/queer coded nazis you'll see in movies and on TV, in reality they were very cishet and very able bodied. There was one high ranking nazi early on who was gay and the other nazis killed him for that. Saying the nazis were gay or disabled makes about as much sense as saying they were Jewish.

The nazis weren't mentally ill. As previously mentioned they hated disabled people, and this unquestionably included anyone neurodivergent. When the surviving nazi war criminals were given psychological tests after the war, they were shown to be some of the most neurotypical people out there.

The nazis weren't socialists. Full stop. They hated socialists. They got elected on hating socialists. They killed socialists. Hating all forms of lefitsm was a big part of their ideology, and especially a big part of how they sold themselves.

The nazis were not the supervillians you see on screen, not because they didn't do horrible things in real life, they most certainly did, but because they weren't that vague apolitical evil that exists for white American action heros to fight. They did horrible things because they had a right wing authoritarian political ideology, an ideology that is fundamentally the same as what most of the modern right wing believes.

Codywan au where the clone troopers are actually a reincarnated group of an ancient sect of warriors from mandalorian space. And then quigon who is associated with natural disasters. Legend is he was roaming their world, damning and saving mortals as he went, when he created a disaster so wroth, so powerful, he could not bare for it to fade. He pleaded with his grand sire and eventually Yoda agreed to help him. Combining their domains they turned the raging storm in to a young godling.

Obi-Wan, nature personified.

and like I don't quite know where I was going with this, but clone wars era where the clones kind of remember this culture that doesn't seem to be recorded anywhere and these jedi that feel something Awaken when they meet these shining lights in the force.

Yeah, David Breen had to write a tweet when the fan translated version of the Mandarin version of LMK came out. People were freaking out about Wukong being a deadbeat dad and debating on whether it was a d*ck move or Wukong recognizing that he had sh*t mental health and was not in the proper head space to take care of baby MK.

Also that memory? That was a vision MK had in Episode 3. He was helping Tripitaka with magic circle stuff, the vision broke in and interrupted the ritual, and all hell broke loose. It isn't an actual flashback to his childhood.

These are the visions of Sun Wukong trying to find MK in the scroll. They're different from what Subodhi presses MK to remember ("Tell me of your childhood, your parents." "You do not remember?" "And what else?"):

Every vision MK has includes the same scenes, except this one. That's why I think it's a memory; that and the way it's framed, with MK closing his eyes in focus. The other visions from 4x03, 4x04, and 4x05 all are unprompted, being forced upon MK. Why make this last "vision" so different from the others? Why show Guan Yin (?) making the stone monkey? That would be because it's a memory—be it MK's, something from the scroll, or a mix of both.

Monkey King not being MK's dad doesn't equate to him not being involved—MK being born from the stone means that he doesn't have any biological parents, it's a weird grey area. I also just can't imagine that Guan Yin (if it was her) made MK on top of flower fruit mountain and that Monkey King was none the wiser (edit: lol it was NOT on top of flower fruit mountain. Anyways, carry on!). I also don't know what other reason Sun Wukong would choose MK to be his "successor".

I'll be honest, "he doesn't know why" is SUPER vague (which is good, can't have a writer spoiling the whole show on twitter lol). So, Monkey King doesn't know why he kept going back to the stone...what does that mean exactly? It's vague and up in the air, and it's phrased in such a specific way that I can't help but feel like Breen is being purposely misleading.

Either way, I don't really see the problem with Sun Wukong being a dead beat dad. Like he's not MK's dad, but if he were I don't understand what the issue with that is. Sun Wukong is an interesting character, he means well but he can also hurt others through the distance he builds around himself. In 3x05 Amnesia Rules he literally says "Can you imagine what I would be like if I didn't have friend's? I'd probably turn into a manipulative jerk!" Well, currently all of his past friend's are dead and he is a manipulative jerk. And I love him.

Sun Wukong is nuanced. He doesn't make the right choice all the time. The way he treated the main gang in s3 was fucking shitty ("how could you lead us into this fight without a real plan!?"). But he also doesn't intend to hurt people. He always has his own reasons. And, when he finally realizes the pain he's caused, he tries to make amends and put himself on the line. People "freaking out" about Wukong being a "dick" (which he kinda has been this whole time, he's a little shit and I love him) just reeks of purity culture.

AND THE FUNNY THING IS, WUKONG SPEAKS DIRECTLY AGAINST THAT:

Wukong makes so many mistakes all the time. I don't know why in this instance it would be one step too far.

There's also just so much we don't know. We don't really know anything about MK's origins, or why he was created, or who created him, or what everyone knows/doesn't know. But I will say, whatever it is I'm excited for it!

Their parents get along too!! They bond over missing their old partners... though, Lyra's father just divorced.

Which, Lyra and Ethan cope together too! However, Ethan isn't as open about it.

Speaking of!!! Ethan really does NOT know how to communicate his problems or insecurities to people. He's either silent and internal about it or screaming at the top of his lungs and having an emotional meltdown.

He has too much oxytocin.... people who know about stress hormones know exactly what I'm talking about (in short, it's craving support and physical contact to help relieve stress responses).

He's DEFINITELY an extrovert (not bc he's loud. No. People genuinely motivate him and he loves to just talk)... but some of his "cheerfulness" and giggling comes from a well of anxiety. He will laugh at anything, not bc he genuinely finds it funny (if he's genuinely laughing, it's non-stop wheezing and snorting between outbursts).

He has a "everything is okay!" attitude... especially around strangers. Sometimes it's good! Other times.... yeah, it's toxic positivity!!

He doesn't want people to stress about what he's stressed about! (So, he's anxious about his anxiety)

But on a side note, his mental health is usually great! But there are times when he's just not.

He often turns to exploring, helping others, and comfort foods whenever he's stressed... this happened a lot at the end of his journey and when he was champion (which was NOT a great time. But i want to make smth for that later.)

This kid suffers compassion fatigue from time to time!!! Especially when he's helping multiple strangers!! His friends are usually good about not asking for a bunch of stuff from him

He also has vocal ones like squeaking or speaking in a high (and quiet) voice like "woo!" or anything like that! He also loves to hum (not as much as Lyra though)

Also, he can't sit still in a chair... it's a short person with ADHD thing (im projecting SHHHH!!!) (Also we are the same height I HATE IT HERE (<- 7 years older than him))

He loves flowery scents but fruity ones overstimulate him

He hates grainy and stringy foods. He HATES oranges (but not the juice)

He is not a gamer. He SUCKS at them!! But, he's great with casual games like Animal Crossing (stress free!!)

On quiet days, he's usually sitting outside enjoying the breeze

He has suffered humiliation due to how gullible he is! But that was earlier on his journey, he's smarter now!

A lot of his team provides emotional support!!! More on that in a future post!
