my one true fear for the Murderbot TV show after remembering who they cast to play Murderbot itself is that they make ART into 'sexy female spaceship' voiced by like Scarlett Johanson with some sort of ultra femme holograph cortana-like avatar who seduces Murderbot, instead of keeping them as the genderless possessive grouch they are

or god worse, they make a 'female' SecUnit or a female human fall in love with a Murderbot that uses male pronouns in some sort of starcrossed heteroromance nonsense

anyway vi and jinx mean the world to me and the way they became a secondary plot in their own damn show makes me so sad. "oH bUt ItS aN EnSeMbLe CaSt ThErEs No MaIn ChArAcTeRs" yeah that's bullshit. the show starts with them walking hand in hand. each episode starts with them facing each other on the record player. the story was meant to be about them and how their relationship affects the fate of the sister cities.

but in season 2 they threw that all away for a generic marvel esque "the whole gang fights to save the world" ending. they threw it all away for jinx to become a defanged less radical version of herself all because a child who was written like her fucking therapy dog was dropped onto her. threw it all away for them to force caitvi to happen in a toxic and unsatisfactory way, a way that took everything away from vi's identity and made her feel colonised.

vi and jinx were meant to be the core of the show but they got rid of that because of course they fucking would, these incapable writers were more focused on what they thought would satisfy general audiences and themselves over what would've actually made a progressive and interesting story.

Loki fixes his jacket, Mobius doesn't look, and I fall apart

I was in the midst of making a thirst edit for loki, I was just admiring loki being unfairly attractive when I ended with anything but a thirst edit and got emotionally devastated instead.

I refer to that little moment of Loki straightening himself out. First, when he's trying to find his footing at the TVA. When he first puts on his jacket, its this smooth, practiced motion, he sweeps that hair back, adjusts his lapels, chin up, like he's slipping into a role, trying to play along, trying to present himself as someone in control even though he is anything but.

And mobius, watching him, already amused, interested.. and Loki sees that, clocks it, gives that tiny little 'oh you like this?' smile.

Then cut to Dons timeline and tell me why Loki does the exact same motion, only this time, its hesitant. In the TVA it was almost performative, like he was trying to present himself well.

But Dons timeline? its more tentative, like he's nervous, like he wants to get it right.. Because now it isn't just some TVA game. This is Mobius, living a quiet human life that Loki isn't apart of. Its almost like Loki's bracing himself before stepping back into something he knows he can't stay in.

And Mobius-Don- god. Mobius doesn't clock it this time. Because this isn't that kind of story anymore. Theres no knowing little smirk, no teasing remark- just Don, squinting at Loki like a stranger.

Its the tragedy of the saddest little muscle memory. The way Loki's hands move before he could ever even realise why. Because once upon a time, in a place that doesn't exist anymore, he did this exact thing. He straightened his jacket, swept his hair back and looked up- and Mobius was there.

Watching him. noticing him. Seeing him.

Mobius doesn't see him this time. Not in the way he used to. And yet, Loki straightens his jacket. Because some part of Loki remembers what it was like to be looked at by him.

I caught it on my second rewatch. I mean ofc you could chalk up her darker roots to it just being a dirty blonde but no, she really is a brunette.

Which brings me to this thought- I wonder what Tyler’s reaction (along with the others ofc) would be when they see Kate with brown hair. Let’s say her blonde dye was growing out enough for her to decide to dye it back. Maybe she does it when she went back to NY for a bit before going back to Oklahoma. Will there be chaos? Definitely. when they’re in the hotel, laura shows erik her xmen comics while they watch movies until of course when the humans break in and charles has a seizure 🙁

i feel like erik would be the kind of old guy to go “back in my day!”
