On the Run Au

I'm gonna lore dump about an AU I made because I can.

So Thomas is this regular guy, but he has a deal with the government. He'll let them clone him, and every twenty years, when said clones have grown up into twenty-year-old adults, a surgery is done to switch Thomas's brain into the clone of his choosing. So he gets to be young again, and the government gets twenty years to run tests, and then another twenty years, and another, etc. The government also pays him for the rights to his image. It works out for everybody.

So Thomas is going to the facility where the clones are held, to pick out a clone to be switched into. But there's an issue, between 20 hours to when Thomas arrived (I haven't got a set time), one of the clones escaped, and helped all the other clones out too, and now they can't find them. So the whole facility's on lockdown and Thomas is just kind of wandering around until one of the main researchers comes up to him with the idea that "We think they're hiding in the vent, but we can't tell where in there, and we don't have any way of checking, unless someone goes in. So we're going to dress you up in the same company issued jumpsuit they're all wearing with a tracker, send you up to the general area we think they are, and hopefully you'll find them, say you're a seventh clone who was located in a different area, and escaped in the ruckus of them escaping, and hope they buy it long enough for us to send people to you." And so Thomas does that, not too enthusiastically, but he wants his money and younger body so he does it. (Thomas isn't the greatest person at the start of this)

He manages to find them, hidden out in some kind of large vent room. Most of them are pretty suspicious, but they don't throw him out.

They begin talking about plans to somehow get out, Thomas listening in. None of them know anything about outside the facility, because obviously. And Thomas realizes something while he's there. The clones have actual feelings and thoughts.

He always assumed (And was nudged in that direction by the government) that the clones were just mindless husks. Just being complete copies of Thomas, just without the experience and the personality he gained from experiences in his life. But listening to the clones talk, made it very clear they all had different personalities and thoughts, and Thomas feels a bit bad. He went from viewing the clones as like mindless copies, to actual people.

So he reveals who he is, and tells the clones a way he knows out, cause even though Thomas isn't a genius, he's been engaging in highly secretive government business for like 60 years so he does know a little bit about how the process of leaving the building and getting out works.

They knock him out and escape before anyone comes and gets Thomas. Thomas retains minor injuries, but he mostly fine.

So the government basically apologize to Thomas, gives him some extra cash, and sends him to his new house, because he'd relocated every time he gets made younger.

When he gets to his new house, after a couple of days. The clones just arrive, as the guards who mistook them each for Thomas separately gave them each Thomas's new address, and they managed to find it through combined navigation.

Thomas knows that the government had put out a team dedicated to finding the clones, cause you can't just have six genetically identical people walking around with no proper knowledge of the world.

He feels even worse now, and lets them hide out in his house. The team comes and searches Thomas's house after a couple more days, and Thomas runs off with the clones.

He doesn't really have a plan, he just feels too bad to turn them in, and generally wants to help.

I know this is pretty bad and probably confusing to read but I just really wanted to word vomit everywhere, so thanks for reading this if you have. If you have any questions please send an ask cause I want to explain this better, but this is basically how it all starts.

Bam didn't like being underestimated and he for sure wasn't letting Johnny goddamn Knoxville patronize him. He was determined to prove the older man wrong.
