what are ur fav tropes for stoic whumpees? love da blog
stoic whumpee tropes that are a 100/10:
"I'm fine" and then immediately collapsing in front of their loved ones in a bleeding pile, revealing a hidden injury that has festered for far too long
silent, muffled crying with shaking shoulders and a bloody hand clamped over their mouth because they view crying as weak and beneath them and they're stronger than this, they're stronger, they can take it--
the moment they close their eyes in defeat and it's all over and they fucking know it, and when they open their eyes again all that remains is a glassy-dead stare
adamantly refusing medical treatment even when they need it. Shoving away everyone who comes close to them, a choked sound in their throat, fighting back with everything that's left in them.
when they kneel at Whumper's feet, eyes on the ground, white-lipped and tense. The only betrayal of emotion is their clenched fists and tight breathing. In every other way, they're compliant.
refusing to talk about what they endured at Whumper's hands after they're rescued, but the scars tell the story for them. They don't have to say a word, but their team's pitying gaze follows them wherever they go
normally unaffectionate and distant but exhausted and defeated they rest their head on Caretaker's shoulder or Whumper's lap, just finally admitting--nonverbally-- that they can't take it
reversely, more willing to be tortured than to ask for help-- If I'm breathing, I'm fine
stitching their own wounds back up with an unsteady hand, painful stitch after painful stitch. Deep breath and pull. Working in a dimly lit apartment with bleeding clothes on the floor around them and the bed unmade
sacrificing themself for their team. "Take me! Do what you want to me. Not them." And their team watching as the torture takes its slow toll and Whumpee-- the one they look up-- falls apart.

love media that’s like- found family but only because they’re literally trapped together. found family but they don’t even like each other in the beginning. forced found family. like we are all completely different types of people and we do not get along but we don’t have a choice to not be around each other. We fight constantly but there’s nowhere else to go and no one else to turn to so we have to be here for each other. we find a kinship in each other not because we like or understand each other, but because we have no other option. and maybe in the end we’re half grateful for that. maybe we find that we care about each other more then we think. maybe it turns out we are a family after all.
i eat that shit right up

nth much.. jus thinkin about mean, flirty, unbothered hobie with vry much annoyed, angry reader.
like hes over here alwaays, and i mean always. absolutely trying to get a rise out of you.
your going on about this villian and how he was absolutely aggravating? hes pulling out the "hm? wha? 'm sorry lovie, cant hear ya from up 'ere." knowing damn well he can hear you just fine, leaning down to face you eye to eye, faces almost touching as you shove him away, annoyed and flushed as he backs up, chuckling.
your already mad at his dumbass for something stupid, course, not serious. and hes out here joking with you in his low raspy voice with his hands running alllll over you talking bout some "cmon please? dont be like tha.. i ain' mean it." mumbling into your ear, breathing down your neck. and you know damn well he doesnt mean a word.
miguel called for a team meeting? hobies already next to you, so close you can almost feel his body heat. his lanky fingers lingering onto your hips, playing with the spandex of your suit, feeling right through.
and your so mad. not because you dont like it, but because his plan always works, hes always got you where he wants you. so, so worked up. as you try to ignore or scold him, hes just giving you this devilish grin. he knows he won. he always does with you.
can you tell i like this trope or nahh.. anyways, i might expand on this in the future, so watch out!!!

Mirabel Madrigal & Creativity:
So something I’ve realized after watching the movie a couple of times now is how mirabels story can easily correlate with the experience of someone creative when you’re only considered of use if you’re academically smart.
Not only do they refer to the magic as “gifts” and “gifted” very common terms associated with people who are considered academically smart but also the fact mirabel is shown as an artist. Our first introduction to her you see her room is plastered in artwork as a 5 year old and even after the prologue you still see she’s kept her artistic side. the thing is mirabel is incredibly talented she draws, she sews, she embroiders, paints, plays the accordion too! These are all incredible talents to possess and yet do we ever see her getting praised for them in the movie? not really. because mirabel doesn’t have a “gift” a literal magic gift yes but also could be interpreted for a creative as academic smarts. Creative thinking is something mirabel possesses and its quite literally the answer in the end but because she’s not smart in the expected way i.e academics she feels she’s not worth as much as others in her family.
I like to think making her an artist was an intentional choice as I know a lot of fellow artists have had people tell us it’s not a “useful” skill to have in the real world. It’s not worth taking the time doing when you could be pursuing medicine or law or something that uses your brain. Even in the ending of the movie mirabel tells them they’re “more than just your gift” which I feel can relate a lot to people who heavily rely on their academic achievements they can forget it’s ok to not do 100% every time and these ridiculous standards are just wearing you down.
So in conclusion I believe mirabels story resonates a lot with the experience of being a creative person but your skills not being seen as valuable. I just love that they made mirabel an artist to show how talented she actually is! she shows that creatives are valued and appreciated and needed and deserve to be encouraged not shot down! so thank you mirabel valentina rojas madrigal for being my favorite artist <3
