Oh my freaking god I forgot to post this too. So this is my OTHER favorite / best thing I worked on this season. I found out (through Icelandic horse historian Þorgeir Guðlaugsson & a mutual friend) that in 1970, half a century before Vigri, ANOTHER icelandic horse completed the GMHA 100 mile ride. It happened so long ago that GMHA had lost record of him. MIRACULOUSLY, his rider, Annie Shields, still has Icelandic horses & was willing to give me an interview. We talked for hours, laughed & cried, it was beautiful & I got to write an article for the USIHC Quarterly Magazine about her & her Mount, Palli. Their story is INCREDIBLE. They will never be forgotten again ❤️.

HIGH STREET HF.

The horse Cal hopes will take him to CCI5* and the one that might actually do it; the pair are seen here at the GMHA Festival of Eventing back in August last year, hosted amidst the humid, hilly greens of South Woodstock, VT.

High Street & Cal never got to have the eventing career I’d always intended for them, but there are no rules saying I can’t start making it up now! One of the perks of being a loose cannon.

This is the first [official] picture I’ve made of Streets in a while. This is rather shameful in itself, but the fact he was made for me by the legendary (I think we can openly say it at this point?) @katrinbergling elevates my shame to unfathomable heights. The natural consequence of me contemplating this was that I was compelled to put in actual effort during the editing process this time, as a sort of penance and (possibly grotesque) homage. 

Alas, effort ≠ talent, so this picture has stayed in my drafts the last year. If anything can be said for it, it is, at least, less offensive than the raw screenshot.

(Bonus picture, because I did attempt a competition scene, but it all went downhill once I tried to correct the environment and yes)

30 for the soft ask game!!

Okay going a little bit of different route of what reminds me of home bc i think theres a few ways that can be interpreted. Im taking it to mean the times i feel most conent and at peace with where I am:

The smell of lilacs and the wind coming off the water once the thaw happens in spring. Warm hearty soups and hot coco when it's cold and snowy out. The smell of the morning after a fresh snow/ice storm, before anything gmhas been disturbed. A cup of tea early morning when the air still has a bite. Everytime I get to visit and sail on the lakes (any body of water really) I never feel more at home than being on the water in the early morning or hiding and taking a nap on a boat lol. The feeling that randomly hits me when I'm in the middle of a big city, looking around at all the different people and all the art that's on every street, and just feeling so small and a part of something much so bigger than me. The smell of corn. God everytime I have to walk near a cornfield I get war flashbacks lmaoooo. Propane grills and the sound/smell of veggies being roasted on it in Sumner heat.

Also Vernors and Better Made chips bc I grew up on that shit and nothing slaps harder lol

GMHA Fall Hunter Pace! Our only “competition” this year - I stuck to my guns about taking a year off and I’m so glad I did… but I’m also really glad we got out to do this. It’s our favorite event of the year, and it was rained out last year!

Pizz and I debuted at 4th level this weekend at GMHA! Scored a 64.1% on Saturday and a 61.8% today, both in 4th1. So pleased with how he went and very excited for the rest of the season!!

Belajar Bareng

Kita belum menemukan rumah sebelum kita bisa 'bebas' pada tempat yang dimaksud, sama halnya kalian belum kenal Maimunah kalau belum liat wajah Maimunah tanpa bedak, belum liat Mai lagi cerita, lagi ngupil, lagi ngelamun dan lainnya.

Dulu pernah bilang ke salah satu temen kamar, kalau mau nangis nangis aja, bukan cuma ketawa aja. 'Rumah' itu dimana kita bisa nangis, marah, ketawa dan segala expresi.

Selain ya kadang ngambek atau salah paham, juga ketawa bareng, lainnya juga sering sekali kita tukar informasi bareng, saling nasihat, kalau habis 'ngaji' sering banget tu kan kita kesentil karna emang banyak kurang di sana sini..biasanya kita sharing apa yang sudah di dapet dari ngaji. Atau dapet ilmu baru juga begitu sering sharing. Dulu ga terartur segala diceritain, tp setelah aku dapet sentilan setelah ngaji yang tentang 7 lapis langit dan Malaikat penjaga dan share ke temen-temen kamar, kita jadi engga terlalu sembarang ngomong yg ga jelas, udah takut ghibahin orang, saling inget kalau udah mau ngomongin orang, semoga terus istiqomah. Aamiin.

Untuk ke sekian kalinya salah satu temen kamar cerita betapa susahnya ngatur anak-anak yang diamanahinya dari salah satu rumah fakultas, mereka jarang respon, setoran males dan tepat waktu.

Ingat sekali saat beliau dengan semangatnya ingin jadi pembina, direlakannya untuk ga pulang tahun ini demi adik-adik tsb, tp seperti dikacangin sama adik-adik, ya kesel bukan main, sedih juga bukan main lagi.

Malem ini, setelah lamupu kamar dimatikan dan tinggal lampu belajar yang dinyalakan beliau (salah satu teman kamar) bercerita (lagi) tentang mereka sambil berkaca-kaca, "aku udah capek, gimana termin 2 ya", aku langsung teringat saat ngajar kemarin, aku langsung mulai pembicaraan, "Mb jadi inget ngajar dulu, di kepala Mb semua anak-anak bisa teratasi dengan segala rencana dan hal seru yg bisa dicipta, eh pas berhadapan langsung...uh bukan main, ya mereka kalau ngantuk ya tidur aja, padahal Mb udh coba seatraktif mungkin, besok-besok mikir lagi gmha caranya buat mereka ga tidur dengan tanpa bilang "jangan!", akhirnya kita buat yang ngantuk diminta lomba makan oreo atau dikasih permen dan alhamdulillah manjur, sama halnya dirimu yang sudah memutuskan untuk berkhidmat di sana, dulu juga berfikiran bakal ya mulus2 aja, tp ternyata jalannya beda, ya inilah jawaban dari doa-doamu dulu yang minta supaya ilmu yg didapat bisa bermanfaat, malah bermanfaat lebih karna jalannya berliku.

Coba habis ini lebih tegas, tentukan mauid setoran kapan, kultumnya kapan, kalau ga ada respon ya udah santai aja, di hari H tinggal foto tempat mauid yg dijanjiin, bukti kalau kita berkhidmat, kalau ada yg ga datang besoknya bisa kita kasih hadiah kecil, ya bisa jajan apa ga perlu besar, titipin dan kasih tulisan "ditunggu yaa setorannya Sholihah", mereka seneng kalau dipanggil dgn panggilan yg bagus, masalah setoran yg perlu tau cuna antara guru dan yg bersagkutan, kalau belum setoran ya kasih kertas kecil yg manis, bilang "ditunggu ya setorannya sore ini sholihah", kalau mereka masih ga respon ya udah lama2 mereka yg ga enak sendirinya.

Sekali lagi inget kalau ini tu jawaban dr doa kita untuk dijadikannya ilmu kita itu ilmu yg bermanfaat"

Beliau tiba-tiba naik ke kasurku sambil berkaca-kaca, kali ini beda, ada semangat dimatanya, "berarti aku harus santai aja yaa.."

"Iyaa" jawabku.

Tiba-tiba beliau memelukku, "makasih ya Mb"

"Ya ngoming gini mudah, aplikasinya susah, Mb aja kadang2 masih... yaa gituu, kita lagi belajar bareng" kataku

"Ga apa-apa, biasalah itu"

....

Setelah itu inget status wasap Ummi yg intinya kalau guru tu ga jarang memberi nasehat hanya di depan kelas aja, keluar kelas yaa Allah a3lam, seperti memberi nasihat untuk orang lain bukan untuk dirinya.

Kira-kira gitu.

Maimunah juga banyak salah, mungkin sering bicara sok bijak atau apalah tp kadang lupa diaplikasikan, mohon dimaafkan 💕
